Ssodium Fluoride is in toothpaste as you know and in 80% of America's water as well as some parts of the United Kingdom, even though it's banned in most countries in the world, including China where much of it comes from. Next week we will be hearing a jaw dropping documentary by filmmaker Chris Maple on fluoridation and how it is being forced on parts of the world. He joins us now from Los Angeles to tell us about it. Chris welcome to the programme. Thanks for having me. Hey great thanks for getting up early as well and before we go any further we're going to run a trailer for The Great Calling, let's do that. Sounds good. Chris when we've looked into what dentists have been saying and the dental authorities in the United States, they say that fluoridation has little effect on risk of bone fracture, it may result in slightly lower fracture risk in either excessively high levels of fluoridation or no fluoridation. They say there is no clear association between fluoridation and cancer or deaths due to cancer, both for cancer in general and also specifically for bone cancer and osteosarcoma, that's what they say. Of course. You think they're ever going to come straight and admit it? Well it's their point of view isn't it, I mean we've talked about this on The People's Voice, I know my colleague Mark Windows has talked about it at length, water fluoridation is commonplace in Ireland where I come from in the Republic of Ireland. I'm not sure about the UK, I know you've got figures for the UK here, I've been looking into it today, but where is the clear evidence that it's had such a dramatic effect on the health of people in the US and people elsewhere? Well some of the side effects, cancers, brain damage, one of the most outwardly side effects of it is dental fluorosis. You may have seen it, it's the white chalky residue on teeth. It's pretty prominent here in the US and it's pretty prominent in about 46% of the kids, children today in the US have a high case of the dental fluorosis. You might have seen it in people, it's the white chalky residue on teeth. The list of side effects goes on and that just goes to show you, it does build up in the bones, the fluoride tends to seek out calcium tissue in the body and the sad thing is once it's there, it's there, you can't really get it out. Does it make the teeth denser, yes it does and our bones, but our bones weren't meant to be dense, they're meant to have, they start to lose their tensile strength once they start being filled up with this fluoride and some of the side effects to that is even skeletal fluorosis, joint problems, arthritis, most old people, the elderly tend to have brittle bones in their older age and you hear a lot of hip replacements and fractures. The root of the problem is skeletal fluorosis and it's just a lifetime of consuming fluoridated water and even the foods, it's not just the water that's affected, majority of our intake comes from the food as well. A lot of doctors say that some of those problems you attributed to more senior people can also come from a poor calcium diet, a low calcium diet, what do you think? Well I'm not an expert, all I know is once you start digging into these issues, you start to see deceit and cover ups, it's not just by mistake, why is it banned most everywhere else in the world, why do we have these small pockets globally and it tends to be just the English speaking countries that really push the fluoride lie, it's pretty much banned most everywhere else in the world. So it is, I've spent nearly 8 years in Spain and it's completely banned there or at least it's almost completely banned there, what is really interesting Chris is where the fluoride comes from and for our viewers who wouldn't know that, where does the bulk of the fluoride that ends up in US drinking water, where does it actually come from? Where we get everything in the United States, China, cheap, it's cheap, ironically enough China bans fluoride so we here in the US used to get ours primarily from the state of Florida because that's where the big phosphate industry is down there but years, I want to say back in the 90s, early 90s they had some terrible hurricanes that came out and wiped out all the holding ponds which isn't good for the water system there because they lost all that toxic fluoride and so now we had to outsource and we looked to Mexico and China but primarily the majority of it globally comes from China. That's extraordinary that, we looked into it obviously and we found that you're absolutely right, you're 100% right, it is the offset of a manufacturing process and that's what's been put into people's drinking water. We ran the commercial for your film and we're going to be showing the film here on the People's Voice, thanks for that. So it seems, Chris, we showed a number of mainstream news networks there who have given time to the issue and they have put people on those programs who are saying they're concerned with it but yet nothing is happening. What about the American Medical Association, what have they been saying about it? Your food authorities there, what have they been saying about your concerns? Well again they're going to stand on the side of the fluoridation program, they're certainly not going to come forward and admit that there's anything wrong with it. According to them there is no controversy within the scientific community which it's funny because you talk to one scientist he'll tell you it's completely toxic, now this stuff has a tendency to eat through anything, titanium, glass, steel. It's not regulated by the FDA, the EPA, the CDC, I think the FDA indicates that it's an untested drug. It's considered terrorism internationally if you dump it into lakes or streams but I guess it's good for our drinking water and one of the big kickers is why the warning label on toothpaste if it's so good for you. Here in the States we have a poison control number on the side of all fluoridated toothpaste and that I think was put on in around the 90s because there was just so many complaints and so many calls of kids getting sick and injured due to eating toothpaste. Tell me Chris, for people who are watching this in the US who are concerned about it, is there any sort of process of removing this from your own water? We hear about these water filtering products that most supermarkets sell but to my knowledge those wouldn't remove things like fluoride. How would you get it out of your water? Is boiling your water a good thing? That's a good question. Really the best way to get it out is politically, you've got to apply the pressure, you've got to start making phone calls, I'm just an average guy, I never made a film in my life before I'm a photographer and I just had had enough of the lies and the deceit and I decided to do something about it and I guess the best way I knew was to reach out with a tangible film itself but not everybody has to do that. You can just pick up your phone, every bottle of water company has a consumer hotline right on the side of it. You just pick that phone up and express your concern, look I'm not going to buy your product anymore until you start removing the fluoride. I guess the best way to get it out other than politically is reverse osmosis has the least amount of it and you can't ever truly get it out, you can't even distill it out. It's such a hard substance to remove entirely. Distilled water is one of the best and reverse osmosis. There are some filtration systems out there that get pretty expensive to remove and again it's not going to entirely come out but if you can just lessen the blow of what it is you're consuming and do yourself a favour, watch what you're eating. Extraordinary Chris when you think about it, to buy the waste from manufacturing plants in China and then put that into the water, to find out that that's exactly what is happening because you say it's a cover story, you say it's good for teeth, it's good for bones. There are people who think there's something very sinister behind it, I don't know. I like looking into these things, it's very difficult to find out but there are people who say that there are other effects of fluoride, it can lead to a dumbing down of people. It's a nullifying, a pacifying type of chemical that can keep people plastered and less likely to complain and to ask questions. I don't know about that Chris, what have you heard about that? You're absolutely right, it is a drug. We didn't really touch on the Hitler connection and the Nazi camps but as it's stated that the more you dig it up, you'll hear conflicting stories but it originated in Germany and prison camps and it does make you complacent. Now you mentioned the lowering of the IQ, it's absolutely correct, Harvard just came out with a study, a big old Harvard university and they found that it does lower the IQ in children so there's no doubt about it, it does make you complacent. I always tell people look, if this doesn't bother you, if this doesn't get you upset, you can thank the fluoride in your system. Sorry to interrupt you, I've got David's book, The Perception Deception here and I've checked it out, I didn't have to check it once David has put it in there. A Harvard study led by Anna L Choi produced results which support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children's neurodevelopment. Children in high fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ than those who lived in low fluoride areas and a fluoride can easily cross the placenta to the fetus and may possibly lead to damage of a permanent nature from Harvard. It's the only thing added to the drinking water for you, it's not to treat the water, it's to treat you actually and they say it's all about cavities, well what we're finding out is the fluoride actually makes the teeth more brittle because once dental fluorosis sets in, the teeth start to crumble, the tensile strength isn't there, it increases cavities, it's just awful, even topically there's no benefit for fluoride. I've been trying to look into the areas in Britain where water is fluoridated, I'm not going to find out much, there are a number of anti-fluoridation websites online Chris, but do you know, Cara tells me, one of my producers, that you've been looking into it, what about Britain, where is it fluoridated here? I think I want to say the UK is about 10% of its fluoridated and I dug up a map the other day and it looks like Birmingham has got some fluoridation going on, Workington, Newcastle up in Tyne, Mansfield, Lincoln, Bedford and then Crewe, a little bit in the Southampton as well. We do know that some councils, not the ones you've mentioned, but some councils in Britain have been talking about it, have been trying to apply it to the water, Chris we'll leave it there for the moment, thanks for coming on, congratulations on your film, we'll be showing it here to People's Voice and I look forward to seeing it, thanks for taking the call so early there on the Pacific, thanks for doing it. You got it guys, thanks for having me, if you want to check out our website it's thegreatcalling.net Great stuff Chris, thanks a lot, Chris Maple there, we'll take a break, when we come back we'll be talking with Julian Petley, Professor of Journalism at Brunel University here in the UK, can't wait to talk with him later on in the programme, we'll also be talking to Leah Bulger, former 20 year US Navy veteran, you don't want to miss her either, back in a minute.
