Hello everybody I'm back with another video and today I want to talk about the subject of what it means to believe in Jesus or what it means to have faith in Jesus. Now that might seem like kind of an odd topic because for people who are watching this who are actually saved who already have believed in Jesus you might be thinking well believing in Jesus you know that's a very simple concept but unfortunately today there's a big attack on the Bible and particular words in the Bible where people will try to change definitions of very simple words that that mean something very clear and they'll try to change those definitions to mean something else. So there are a lot of false teachers and false religions out there today which will try to change the definition of believe try to change the definition of faith to mean something other than it than it says. So false teachers will say that believing in Jesus or having faith in Jesus somehow includes works even though the Bible makes it very clear that we are saved by faith without works as it talks about in Romans chapter 4 verse 5 Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 and 9 and several other places to him that worketh not but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly his faith is counted for righteousness showing that our works have nothing to do with our faith because the Bible makes it very clear it is possible to believe on him that justifieth the ungodly and to work not. So anybody out there who tries to say that to believe in Jesus means to have the works or to obey God or to follow the commandments or to repent of your sins or something where they're trying to add in work salvation then that person is twisting and making up a false definition of the words faith or believe and so the words in the Bible are very clear the Bible tells us that God is not the author of confusion okay if he meant obey when he said believe that he would have said obey okay the words in the Bible are there for a reason they mean a particular thing okay the Bible is not some mystical magical mysterious book where all the words mean something different okay the words mean what they say so believe means to believe have faith means to have faith but in case that's a concept that's too hard for you to understand I'm going to break it down and prove beyond any of a shadow of a doubt in this video that to believe just means to believe it doesn't mean anything special of being faithful or having works or repenting of your sins or changing your ways or some kind of action or some kind of deed those things are not included in faith okay so let me explain first of all the Bible gives us a very simple definition of faith in Hebrews chapter 11 it says now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen and just keep that in mind throughout this video as I go through some other verses because that does tie in with other teachings of what faith is where it tells us very clearly that faith has to do with hoping for something and also faith has to do with things that are not seen faith is not based on actual empirical things that you see with your eyes you know Jesus said blessed are they that have not seen when he was speaking to Thomas because Thomas believed because he had seen right he said blessed are they that have not seen and yet they believe right so faith has to do with not seeing something but rather just taking it as true to acknowledge in the heart is true to have to trust faith or confidence in something even if you don't actually see it with your eyes okay and the Bible tells us very clearly that this faith means to trust in Christ in Ephesians chapter 1 verses 12 to 13 so it says that we should be to the praise of his glory who first trusted in Christ in whom he also trusted after that you heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation in him also after that he believed you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise so notice how the Bible uses these words trust and believe interchangeably okay to believe means to trust okay and this trust or belief comes after that you have heard the word of truth as it tells us in this verse here and one thing which is emphasized over and over again in the Bible is that the faith which saves is based on the Word of God it's not just believing whatever we want but it's particularly believing what the Word of God says as we see also at 1st Peter chapter 1 where it says in verse 23 being born again out of corruptible seed but of incorruptible by the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever then a couple verses later it says and this is the word which the God or by which the gospel was preached unto you okay so we're born again through that Word of God which the gospel was preached unto us okay so through hearing the gospel of our salvation as it is given within the Word of God which is the Bible and the gospel is defined in 1st Corinthians 15 how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures okay when you hear that gospel of your salvation the death and resurrection of Jesus based on what the Bible says okay that is what leads to salvation but it's not just enough to hear the gospel but then you also have to believe it or to trust it as it says here in Ephesians 1 to have faith in those glad tidings which are clearly defined in 1st Corinthians chapter 15 and as we'll see as we go on to trust or to believe something means to it receive as the truth or to rely on with confidence to have confidence in the Word of God that whatever it says is true so to believe that gospel by which you're saved is basically to hear the message of the death and resurrection of Jesus and to acknowledge it as the truth and to have confidence in it okay that's what it means to believe it's not some some mystical magical thing again I'm going to continue to prove this as we go on so Romans chapter 4 verses 17 to 22 gives us the example of Abraham and how Abraham believed because it compares our faith to the faith of Abraham it tells us throughout Romans chapter 4 that Abraham was saved in the same way as we are it says as it is written I have made thee a father of many nations before him whom he believed even God who quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which be not as though they were who against hope believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations according to that which was spoken so shall thy see be and being not weak in faith he considered not his own body now dead when he was about a hundred years old there yet the deadness of Sarah's womb he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief but was strong in faith giving glory to God and being fully persuaded that what he had promised he was able also to perform and therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness so what did we learn from this passage that Abraham was justified by faith as it says earlier in the chapter as well back in verse 3 just like we are so the Bible tells us we're justified by faith and so was Abraham the example it gives concerning his faith is that he against hope believed in hope according to that which was spoken so shall thy see be okay which is the promise given in Genesis chapter 15 that he would be the father of many nations right in verse 20 and 21 also indicates that Abraham was fully persuaded that what God had promised he was able to perform and that is a perfect definition of faith it continues on to say it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed unto him but for us also to whom it shall be imputed if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead so in the same way that Abraham was justified before God in the same way that Abraham was made righteous that is by his faith we also will be justified by our faith in Jesus Christ so let's examine what Abraham's faith was like and we can compare it to what we're supposed to believe in the New Testament in order to be saved to what it means to believe on Christ so first we see in this passage in verse 17 the one in whom Abraham believed which is God it says that he call those things which be as though they were that is that even though Abraham could not actually see the fulfillment of the promise that he would be the father of many nations he knew that God's promise is as sure as if it was done already right it's as good as done basically it's as good as though that it already happened right because God is outside of time God can see the future and so if he says that he's gonna be the father of many nations even though from our perspective it hasn't happened yet Abraham believed that it was going to happen because that's what God had promised right and this fits with a definition that we saw in Hebrews chapter 11 that faith is the evidence of things not seen so even though Abraham did not yet see that he received that testimony he believed what God had said because he know that God calls those things which be not as though they were because God is going to do what he says he's gonna do because he's not alive right so hopefully it's making sense so far but bear with me if it's not because it's gonna make more sense as time goes on verse 18 continues by telling us that against hope Abraham believed in hope so again even though the promise didn't make any sense from the perspective of man even though it seemed that because of the oldness of his age and also the deadness of Sarah's womb that they would never have children right even though it seemed hopeless even though it was against hope Abraham not seeing that promise even though he didn't see the fulfillment of the promise he believed in any way and it was according to that which was spoken so that shows us that what Abraham placed his faith in is the Word of God that which was spoken of him what God said so shall thy see be and even though Abraham could not see it with his very eyes he trusted the promise that God had given to be the truth okay so he heard what God had said what God had promised and even though he didn't see it even though it was not seen to him even though it was not revealed even though it seemed hopeless he still regarded what God said to be true okay he did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief as it says in verse 20 but rather was strong in faith he didn't doubt what God said he didn't deny what God said he rather believed it with all of his heart or as verse 21 puts it he was fully persuaded that what God had promised he was able also to perform and therefore in verse 22 therefore meaning for this reason righteousness was imputed unto Abraham so why did Abraham become righteous why was he justified because he was fully persuaded in his mind that God's promise he would perform based on what God said within his word what God had revealed to him what God had spoken unto him okay so that's what it means to believe just like Abraham believed God's promise that he would be the father of many nations meaning he was fully persuaded of it in his mind okay we also have to be fully persuaded of the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord so for salvation for eternal life the Bible tells us that you have to believe on Jesus Christ Jesus said of course whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life so this faith or this belief according to the Bible we know comes by hearing the Word of God so then faith comes by hearing hearing by the Word of God Romans 10 17 right so just as Abraham's faith came based on that which was spoken unto him by God then we also have that faith based on what is spoken unto us from the Word of God right so when the Word of God is preached the promise of God is revealed and that promise is eternal life according to 1 John 2 25 and Titus 1 2 and several other places right in hope of eternal life which God cannot lie promised before the world again right so if somebody hears this promise as revealed by the Word of God if somebody chooses once they hear that to acknowledge within their heart that these things revealed by the Word of God are true and be fully persuaded in their mind that God will save them through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus then they have believed in Jesus and therefore will be saved so that is simply put what it means to believe in Jesus it's not any more complicated than that it's not something of being a good person or changing your life or or putting something into practice it's not a lifelong process it's just you hear what God says and you acknowledge it is true you trust it you you believe it it's it's believing it's faith it's not it's something that everybody understand when you talk about any other subject but all the sudden when it comes to the Word of God people think think that believing means something else so you hear the gospel and if you believe it that means you're fully persuaded in your mind that that God's promise which is eternal life he is able to perform that's what it means to believe in Jesus right therefore somebody's not sure that they will go to heaven because of Jesus' sacrifice if somebody is doubting whether they are safe whether they will be saved or they think that they still have to do something to be saved or go to heaven then they are not yet saved because unlike Abraham they are not fully persuaded that what God promised he's able to perform they doubt whether God is going to keep his promise they think that God is is not telling the truth that God's Word is not a hundred percent accurate that they still have to do something to earn their way into heaven right and the Bible says that this is the promise that he had promised us even eternal life so if one denies this promise by thinking that they may still go to hell for their sins then they don't believe in God and therefore they don't have righteousness imputed unto them as Abraham had righteousness imputed unto him okay and we see this further explained in first John chapter 5 talks about the record that God gave of his son and if how you don't believe it you're making God a liar you don't trust God first John chapter 5 verses 9 to 11 the Bible says if we receive the witness of men the witness of God is greater for this is the witness of God which he had testified of his son he that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself he that believeth not God hath made him a liar because he believeth not the record that God gave of his son and this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life and this life is in his son so to believe again as defined here is to receive that witness of God or the record of God which he has given of his son which again fits with what we saw in Romans chapter 4 that you hear the record which is the Word of God you hear that promise and then you believe it right you receive that a testimony as the truth right you are fully persuaded your mind that that that is the truth that you have confidence in what God said right so the Bible says that if you do not believe this record which is defined in verse 11 then you have made God a liar and therefore do not believe God so the message of the gospel is recorded within the pages of Scripture and we define what the gospel is earlier the death baron resurrection and when somebody does not receive that testimony that the Lord has given of the Lord Jesus Christ then they don't believe in it right because again belief just means to believe it doesn't have some magical mystical definition it just means to believe to acknowledge is true to receive it as the truth to have confidence in what God said to trust it right these are all good definitions of what it means to believe or to have faith right so when somebody believes this record that that God have given to us eternal life and this life is in his son the Bible calls that believing on the Son of God and particularly in this verse verse 11 there are three components in this statement right three parts of this record that somebody has to believe in order to not make God a liar and to receive the witness and as I'm about to show unto you all three of these do tie in with the death baron resurrection which is the gospel by which are saved according to 1st Corinthians 15 right so the first thing that's mentioned in verse 11 of the record that God gave of his son is that this salvation or this eternal life is the gift of God which is stated in several other places like Romans 6 23 also in Romans chapter 5 as well and then Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 9 of course so eternal life being a gift means that it's not purchased it's not worked for it's not earned but as the Bible says it's by the grace of God meaning it's unmerited it's free now why is it a gift because eternal life as we see in other places are already paid for by Jesus Christ the Bible tells us that we are redeemed by his blood that it's through his blood that we have the forgiveness of sins right so the second part of the record that the Bible tells us is that God has given to us eternal life that is that the life which is in Christ is everlasting it lasts forever it never ends it's eternal right the reason why it is eternal is because again Jesus died for all of our sins not just for some of our sins and thus paying for our sins is our propitiation meaning satisfaction you know Christ satisfied the wrath of God and the payment that God expects of us which is death by his blood and thus none of our sins can send us to hell because Jesus has already paid for all of our sins right and finally the last thing which is mentioned in this record that God gave his son is that this eternal life given as a gift by God is only through his son Jesus Christ the only way to heaven is Jesus not by your church not by your works not by a priest or pastor not by your baptism not by your parents not by your bloodline not any other Savior any other God salvation is only in Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is the only one that can save us and that's a particular Jesus the Bible talks about there being another Jesus because there's only one Jesus that can save you and that's the real Jesus so you also have to believe in the real Jesus the Jesus of the Bible in order to be saved right the actual Son of God right so to believe this record that God gave of his son which as we saw earlier to believe needs to be fully persuaded that what God had promised he is able to perform is to thus believe that Jesus Christ being the Son of God died to pay for all of our sins and that he rose again from the dead and that through him alone God will give us by his grace the gift of eternal that is and never-ending life right that is what somebody has to believe or to be fully persuaded of in their heart to be saved from hell right if they neglect to believe these things if they deny these things if they do not trust or have full confidence in these things that are revealed unto us in the Word of God then that means they have not believed in Christ they may have heard the gospel based on the Word of God they may know the truth according to that which is spoken they might have the knowledge of salvation but the knowledge of the facts of what it is to be saved is not what saves us it's actually believing those truths as revealed in the Word of God that's what salvation is right so when somebody preaches unto you what the Bible says about Jesus that he is the Son of God he died to pay for all of our sins he rose again that you can have eternal life through him if you believe that in your heart that is salvation okay that is how to be saved that is how to have your sins forgiven by believing that by having confidence based on what the Word of God says right and in other places we see particulars of what the Bible says we have to believe and all of these particulars again are directly connected to the gospel and God's promise of eternal life so I'm going to read some more verses just about believing and what we have to believe according to the Bible John 3 33 it says he that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true which is another great definition of faith right when you receive the testimony which is another word for witness or record when you receive that testimony that God hath given of his son the Bible says that means you've set to your seal that God is true right that means God said something and you say God is right God is correct God is true I believe that it's not an action of something that you do physically of doing some kind of works it's you believe it in your heart you acknowledge it as true right John 3 36 he that believeth on the son hath everlasting life and he that believeth not the Son of God shall not see life but the wrath of God abideth on him Romans 10 9 says that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised from the dead thou shalt be saved Romans 3 verses 24 to 25 says being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God so here we see that the faith also has to be in the blood of Jesus right another thing that we have to believe according to John 8 24 is the deity of Jesus Christ because like I said before salvation is only in the Sun is only in Jesus and if it's not the right Jesus then it's not the Jesus that could save you right so John 8 24 says I said therefore unto you that you shall die in your sins for if you believe not that I am he you shall die in your sins now what is that talking about well I believe that's a reference to Isaiah 43 verses 10 to 11 where God says here my witnesses saith the Lord and my servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he before me there was no God formed neither shall there be after me I even I am the Lord and beside me there is no Savior so what it means to believe that that he is he or that I am he is that believing that Jesus is the only God and the only Savior right first John chapter 4 verses 2 & 3 the Bible says hereby know ye the Spirit of God every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God and every spirit that confesseth not the Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God and this is that spirit of Antichrist where have ye have heard that it should come and even now already is it in the world first John chapter 5 verse 1 whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God and everyone that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him first John chapter 5 verses 10 to 13 which I read earlier I'll just read it again he that believeth on the Son of God hath to witness himself he that believeth not God hath made him a liar because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son and this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life and this life is in his Son he that hath the Son hath life and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God so according to these verses that I've read the Bible tells us what it is that we have to believe to be saved you know it all has to do with believing in Jesus right so that's summarized in some places like just believe on the Lord Jesus Christ whosoever believeth in him he that believeth on me hath everlasting life but what does it mean to believe on Jesus Christ well you have to believe in his name meaning it has to actually be Jesus it's not just any Savior it's not just any God you have to put your faith in that name because the Bible says that's the name above every name neither is there salvation in any other for there's none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved you have to believe in the name of Jesus you have to believe that he is the Son of God he is the Christ meaning in the Messiah that he died on the cross for our sins that he rose again from the dead you have to believe that it is you have to put your faith in his blood meaning you know what he shed on the cross to pay for our sins you have to believe that that he is the the God that he is God and he is the only Savior and you have to believe that that Jesus Christ has has come in the flesh and is given to us eternal life through him right so that is those are the things that we have to believe meaning again to be fully persuaded in our mind of and to acknowledge to have confidence and to trust in to be safe right so that is salvation to believe those things right so based on this list I want to talk about who is not a believer right those who attack the biblical doctrine of faith alone will straw man our beliefs into saying that you just have to believe in God meaning just like believe that God exists to be saved which is not what I believe and not what any other of my Baptist brethren believe but there are many who believe in God in the sense that they believe that God exists there are many people who profess to be Christians but who do not believe according to the Bible they do not believe the record that God gave of his son they're not fully persuaded in their mind that God will fulfill his promise of eternal life so they're not actually trusting in Christ based on the definitions of trust and faith that are given in the Bible right so I want to talk about some people who are not believers right because that's another thing that that people who are opponents of of me personally and other people who believe like me they'll say well how can you condemn these other people to hell and say like these other professing Christians aren't saved well because they simply don't believe the things that are written within the Word of God concerning Jesus Christ right so for example anybody who teaches that you have to repent of your sins to be saved like the castles those who are reformed some reformed Baptist Presbyterians etc some churches even some Baptist churches the Church of Christ the Mormons etc you know they by teaching that you have to repent or turn from your sins to be saved that would be denying that Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of our sins because if you had to repent of your sins or else your sins will send you to hell then that means that your sins have not all been paid for by Jesus right so somebody says well you have to change your life you have to do a 180 you have to get the sin out of your life you had to turn from all your sins you have to live holy then there would be no reason for Jesus to have died on the cross the Bible says I do not frustrate the grace of God for if righteousness come by the law that Christ is dead in vain right so these people who are trusting and repenting of their sins which is just another way of saying stop transgressing the law and now start obeying the law because they're trusting in the works the law to save them they're saying that Christ's death is in vain so again they're not believing on the death of Christ for their salvation so therefore they don't believe the record they don't believe the gospel they're not saved right Muslims you know they believe that there is a God right but they don't believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God they don't believe that he is God either and they don't believe that God has given us eternal life through Jesus and the death burn resurrection many Muslims don't even believe that Jesus died that he just pretended to die and of course they don't believe in in eternal life they believe that you have to live a good life do good works in order to go to heaven right same thing with Roman Catholics and the Orthodox Church because they again deny that Jesus Christ died to pay for their sins they think that you have to keep confessing your sins to the priests that you have to keep repenting doing works of penance taking the Eucharist and that you have to offer this symbolic sacrifice of Christ continually in order to to stay saved right in order to stay in the grace of God they also deny that Jesus is the only Savior right because the Roman Catholic Church teaches that there's no salvation outside of the Catholic Church so instead of making Jesus the only Savior now they're trusting in also the Catholic Church they also believe that Mary is the co-redemptrix and also a mediatrix unto God while the Bible says that there is only one mediator between God and man the man Christ Jesus so because they're trying to get through God through Mary or through their church then therefore their faith is not in Jesus it yeah they say that they believe in Jesus but it's not the Jesus of the Bible they are not fully persuaded in their mind what the Word of God says and remember the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God that we are born again of incorruptible seed by the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever so this truth which is within the pages the Bible this is what our faith needs to be in not some other religion right you know Mormons deny that Jesus died on the cross for all their sins they think that it only covers them once they do all that they can do or something like that they deny that God is the only Savior because they believe in millions of gods right they deny that God has given us eternal life through Jesus because they believe that you could lose your salvation if if you believe the Mormon Church or whatever etc so again they're not safe right and anybody who teaches you can lose your salvation which includes pretty much everybody at mention so far and in addition to methodists holiness movements like the Church of the Nazarene and things like the Seventh-day Adventists the Church of Christ Pentecostals freewill Baptist all of these groups believe that you can lose your salvation and again that's denying that Jesus died for all of our sins because they think that their sins can still send them to hell and they're also denying the promise of eternal life right so in order for Abraham to be justified he had to be fully persuaded in his mind that what God had promised he is able to perform and the Bible tells us that we're saved in the same way as Abraham so in order for you to be justified you have to be fully persuaded in your mind that what God has promised which is eternal life he is able to perform but those who believe you can lose your salvation are not fully persuaded of that because they think that their life is temporary that it's conditional upon their obedience right so that is not believing the record that God gave of his son which is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord right so why would I say that somebody who is trusting in their works or who believes in works salvation is not saved because they do not perhaps despite perhaps claiming to believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins because again what it means that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins is that he bore our sins in his own body on the tree according to 1st Peter 2 24 or also as it says in 2nd Corinthians that he became sin for us who do no sin and as the Bible tells us the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanses us from all sin so for somebody to believe that their sins can still send them to hell if they don't repent of their sins if they don't live right if they don't keep God's commandments they believe that their transgressions their iniquities their sins will still send them to hell means that they still have to pay the price for their sin therefore they do not believe that Jesus paid it already by his death on the cross which means they're denying what God has spoken within his word right so believing that Jesus died for our sins is more than just stating that you believe that every single denomination and group out there will say that they believe that Jesus died for their sins but they don't actually believe that Christ's sacrifice was once for all they don't believe that all their sins are paid for and so for somebody to believe in that they need to understand that Jesus has paid for all their sins so they don't need to pay for their sins and therefore through the shedding of his blood and through his death we never need to go to hell so that's why somebody who is is trusting in their works is not saved because they're not believing that that testimony of the gospel right and also because they don't believe that Jesus is the only way so by trusting in your works by saying well I'm going to heaven because I go to church I keep the commandments I read my Bible I repent of my sins I do good works this and this and that by trusting in those things and salvation is now become dependent on yourself and not on Jesus only so that's not faith in Jesus because remember the Bible says the trust which you need is to be in Jesus in whom you also trusted after that you heard the word of truth so if you're trusting in yourself then you're not trusting in Jesus you're not trusting in the Word of God which says that your works can't save you right and also if you are trusting in your works you do not believe the record that God gave of his son which according to the Bible is that God hath given to us eternal life in this life is in his son so therefore if you are believing that your works will save you or that you have to do something good in order to earn it then you don't believe that eternal life is a gift but rather it's a reward the Bible says in Romans 4 verse 4 but to him that worketh is a reward not record of grace but of debt right so you're making God a debtor by trusting in your works you're basically saying well God owes me something because I'm good God owes me salvation because of all the good things that I've done God doesn't owe you anything the only thing that you deserve is death is hell so that's why salvation is a gift but if you don't believe that then you're denying the record that God giveth his son right so that's why it's important to understand what faith is and why it's important to stop this false attack on the word belief where people will try to twist it to mean something else well people will try to twist it to include works to include turning from your sins in some way faith is again just simply being fully persuaded that God is going to perform what he said he would do that God is telling the truth when he said that Jesus is the Son of God that he has died for all of our sins on the cross and that he rose again from the dead and you believe that that's the truth and you believe that you can have eternal life through him alone right if you believe that in your heart then the Bible says that's how you're saved it's not by living righteously or keeping God's commandments the Bible tells us again if righteousness come by the law then Christ is dead in vain so if you try if you were trying to justify yourself and think that the way that you live and the things that you do have something to do with with believing or have something to do with salvation then you have not yet believed on Jesus Christ so you need to believe in Jesus meaning all of your faith is is entrusted in him alone to save you based on of course what the Bible says based on your own understanding right so faith again just to give a clear concise definition of faith is to believe on the Son of God Jesus Christ meaning you trust him or you have full confidence full persuasion full hope in him based on what the Word of God says about him that he died for our sins that he rose again from the dead and you're fully persuaded again you're trusting you have confidence that Christ because of his death burn resurrection will give you eternal life right so that's what it means to believe and simply understanding what it means is not believing either right I've explained it to you and you're like oh that makes sense that's not believing you have to believe what the Word of God says and the Bible tells us what we do to place our trust in Christ and there or the moment of belief like if you didn't believe this before and now you understand how to be saved that what it means to believe the Bible tells us that the faith in our heart is expressed by confessing that with their mouth and calling on the name of the Lord says in Romans chapter 10 verses 13 to 15 for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed how shall they hear or believe in him of whom they have not heard how shall they hear without a preacher and how shall they preach except to be sent as it is written how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things so just as a recap for this whole video and again I hope you've been following along I hope you've been paying attention but to believe is you hear the gospel of your salvation from the Word of truth from the Word of God from the Bible you hear it as it's preached by a preacher and then you hear about Jesus you hear about who he is he's God in the flesh he's the son of God he is the Christ he died to pay for all of our sins he was buried and then he rose again the third day and you understand and believe that Christ will give you eternal life because he's paid for all of your sins you become fully persuaded in your mind that that he is able to do that you trust him that what he said is true that you trust that promise and then you ask God to give you that gift of eternal life you confess it unto him you call upon the name of the Lord once you hear that and you believe it in your heart that is a moment of salvation believing does not include anything else it's not your works it's not being a good person it's oh that makes sense I believe that I trust that I have confidence that what you're telling me based on the Bible is true Lord Jesus saved me that's how you get saved I don't know why why that's so hard to understand I mean how many scriptures did I just go through and there's plenty of other scriptures I could say and talk about this for hours read Galatians 3 that's another place where it tells us that that the law is not the same thing as faith in fact I'm just gonna open and read it right now because I want to dispel any doubts from people who are watching this video who might not be saved who might not understand yet what it means to believe Galatians chapter 3 for if the inheritance be of the law it is no more of promise but God gave it to Abraham by promise so the Bible says that the promise of it is eternal life right so it says if something is of the law then it's not a promise so eternal life is not of the law you don't keep the law to get eternal life God has promised it you just believe that promise and you ask God to give it to you and then you're saved that's it then you have eternal life because you've believed what God said right so thank you buddy for watching God bless you and goodbye
