So keep a finger there, turn over to 2 Timothy chapter 2. 2 Timothy 2 and verse 16, 2 Timothy 2 16, which reads, But shun profane and vain babblings, for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And the title of my sermon today is Five Profane and Vain Babblings of Calvinism. Five Profane and Vain Babblings of Calvinism. I'd also like to pray before we continue. Father, thank you for your word. Thank you for the many things you make clear in the Bible, such as our free will to choose you and many of these other issues that I'm going to preach today. Lord, just help me preach boldly, accurately, clearly. Fill me with your spirit, please, Lord, help those who just have attentive ears and hearts today, and in Jesus' name, for all of this. Amen. So what is Calvinism? Well, it's a belief system that seems to basically transcend various, many denominations, if you want to call it that, of Christianity. Amongst Baptists, you've got the open Calvinist churches, such as the Reformed Baptists that you may have heard of before, and they'll call it different sort of things. Some people, you could go to one of these churches and ask them if they're Calvinists. Well, we believe in the doctrines of grace, and they come out with all these different types of terms through it, and there are variations of these, such as a strict Baptist. I don't know if anyone's ever heard of these sort of guys before. Yeah, a few here. I once went to a strict and particular Baptist church when I was newly saved, looking for a King James Bible church, and I mean, that's a pretty crazy place, and there are some different kind of variations of this. Now, like I said, you've got these strict Baptists, you've got what they call Sovereign Grace Baptists, and it's all pretty similar nonsense, you know, kind of splitting hairs here, but it doesn't stop there. You've got the Evangelical Anglican, you've got the Presbyterian churches, Congregational, Continental, Reformed, and you hear of different sort of the Dutch Reformed, this Reformed, and these are all just open Calvinist churches. So all these churches, you know, they'll be open, they might say, oh, well, we believe in the doctrines of grace, they don't want to sound like they're just following this guy and his teachings, but then you've also got the trendy non-denom churches and Evangelical type churches, which don't openly say we are a Calvinist church, but they all believe in Calvinism and they all preach Calvinism, and, you know, there are famous preachers of these churches, there's some are really mega church preachers, you've got John MacArthur, you've got John Piper, Mark Driscoll, Tim Keller, and these are all pretty famous, pretty big churches, which claim to either be sort of some sort of non-denom, stroke Evangelical type church, who are all Calvinists, they're all Calvinists, and here's the thing, is that the heresies of Calvinism are so mainstream and widely taught that they even infect denominations of churches that claim to be non-Calvinist, so you'll get, it's got to the point where you'll go to a standard Baptist church, says we are not a Calvinist Baptist church, but they're still preaching, believing, talking about certain things which have come from Calvinist teachings, I mean, it really has infected far and wide, if I had a pound for every time I heard a non-Calvinist pastor say things like, well God does the saving, anyone heard that one before, well God does the saving, when you talk about soul winning, or if it's God's will then it will happen, how about that one, how many people say that, if it's God's will, if it's God's will then it will happen, or maybe that someone who's questioning someone's salvation because they don't seem to be currently persevering in works, how about that, how many people do that, people probably here do that, well I don't know if they're saved because they're not persevering like the doctrine of perseverance of the saints, and there are many many many other types of things, there are just things off the top of my head, if a belief system seems to be popular among a ton of different work salvationists and is preached by multi-millionaire mega preachers, which is what this belief system is, it would be quite wise to smell a rat, wouldn't you say, yeah I would say you'd be wise to smell a rat with it, or at least question whether or not that hideous smell is of the rodent kind, because it is a hideous smell, Calvinism is a wicked wicked set of doctrines, and like I said it infects far and wide, and as Bible believing Baptists we should be questioning everything shouldn't we, yeah we should question everything, but how do we do that, we compare it all to the word of God don't we, okay, now look at 2 Timothy chapter 2, and from verse 14 here, where Paul tells Timothy the preacher, in verse 14, he says, of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord, that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers, so that's charging or commanding the church not to strive about words to no profit, which instead subvert, it says here, which is corrupt or confound the hearer, yeah, he's not talking about the words of God, because they are words to profit aren't they, yeah the words of God do profit people, so what's he talking about, no it's all the thousands of extra biblical words, phrases, commentaries, vain janglings of men nowhere near as clever as they like to make out they are, yeah these men that love to appear to be very clever and very well read and very learned and very theological, but the vast majority of it is just vain janglings, it's all words to no profit, instead we should be striving through study of the words that do matter, yeah that's the striving we should be doing, studying the words that do matter, the words which are a profit, verse 15 says, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, and just straight off the bat, believing in Calvinism is shameful, okay, it is a shame unto you, and we're going to look at that in a second, now you might be sitting there going but I'm not a scholar brother Ian, I'm no scholar, I'm not at Bible college, I don't even know all these theological words, how could I even dare to question these people, because I mean their intellects are so up there aren't they, I mean look at the words they use, wow, I mean what amazing people, well praise God that you don't do any of that, yeah, praise God that hopefully you do some proper study, just you the Bible, and the best tutor or professor around which is the Holy Spirit, yeah, that's the best sort of study you could do, verse 16 says, but shun, shun profane and vain babblings for they will increase unto more ungodliness, and that for me is an apt description of Calvinism, profane and vain babblings, it's profane because it completely changes and disrespects the God of the Bible and it's vain because it's just a load of empty intellectual sounding worldly wisdom, okay, a load of old nonsense, okay, and with that empty intellectual sounding worldly wisdom don't let that fool you, okay, don't let it fool you, and a lot of people get fooled by that, a lot of people in various areas of life get fooled by the long words that you probably don't really understand that well, which kind of makes you feel like you're disqualified to even question them, and you get that across the board and you get people that that will use that don't they, they use that in whether it's arguments, whether it's debates, whether it's you don't disagree with them, right, let's pop out the long word, let's pop out the theological word when it comes to Christianity, let's pop out the intellectual word when it comes to medicine or whatever it is to try and just disqualify you straight away, and now well I can't argue with that person because I don't know what that word is, but don't let that fool you because it is nonsense, okay, it's profane and vain babblings, okay, so again you might be sitting there thinking well how could all of these doctors of theology, because they're doctors of theology some of these people aren't they, well-spoken self-styled intelligentsia be wrong, I mean what does, what do you know brother Ian, how could these people be wrong, have you seen how how posh some of them are, have you seen how well dressed some of they are, have you seen how many books some of them have written, they must be right, yeah, there must be some sort of meat in there, there must be something, there must be something surely, well you know I've turned it but first Timothy 3 3 19 says for the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God for it is written he taketh the wise in their own craftiness, it's foolishness isn't it, it's foolishness and those profane and vain babblers just increase unto more ungodliness, okay, and they do don't they because the more and more people get into this sort of stuff the harder it is to get them saved isn't it, you ever turned up at a door with these sorts of people and they're trying to sound so intellectual and so well read and so theological yet they can't even get the first part of Christianity which is grace through faith and is it easy to get those sorts of people saved, no it just increases unto more and more ungodliness and that's the truth of it, turn to first Corinthians chapter 2, what's the reason that these people are so confounded, that they can't seem to understand the word any, the word all, the word whosoever, what is it that makes these people so moronic that they can't understand basic simple English, well basically they're unsaved, they're unsaved, they will almost always add some sort of repent of your sins, some sort of lordship salvation, something like that to salvation, they're unsaved, now they won't always come out with that clear as day but a lot of the time when you dig deep when you if you if people who have listened to these people preach for a long time eventually it comes out, first Corinthians chapter 2 explains that from verse 11 where it says for what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of man which is in him even so the things of God knoweth no man but the spirit of God, now we have received not the spirit of the world but the spirit which is of God that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God which things also we speak not in the words which man's wisdom teaches but which the holy ghost teaches comparing spiritual things with spiritual but the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God that's the unsaved man there for they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned but he that is spiritual judgeth all things yet he himself is judge of no man for who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him but we have the mind of Christ that's why the reason you and I could read the Bible 10 times cover to cover and never come away thinking yeah God chose just a few people to be saved and everyone else would just be cast into hell for eternity is because we're saved okay the reason people could read it and come away with that is because they're unsaved they just don't get it they don't understand it could be hard for us sometimes because you're saved to read in the Bible and most people here probably only started reading the Bible after they were saved so it's hard to really compare when you weren't but I remember trying to read the Bible a bit when I was unsaved and man it was all gobbledygook to me I didn't have a clue what was going on what I was reading it was like it was like a different language and then I got saved and then I started reading about it wasn't like right the light bulb was on suddenly it was oh of course but but I tell you what the more I read it the more you just start to understand it don't you and there was such a difference with salvation than there was before these people don't get it and when I say these people just to make it clear I'm not saying anyone that professes to believe some form of Calvinism is unsaved but I'm saying people teaching that these wicked doctrines for me they're unsaved every time every time now turn to second Peter chapter three because again you might still be thinking yeah but but come on because they seem to come out with verses which seem to support it don't they and some people don't like debating with them because they take some verses out of context etc well second Peter chapter three sorry let me turn there as well second Peter chapter three and verse 16 says this he's talking about Paul here Peter in his writings here he talks about Paul and he says as also in all his epistles speaking in them of these things and which are some things hard to be understood which they that are unlearned and unstable rest as they do also the other scriptures unto their own destruction so often they base a lot of their Calvinism off things like Romans chapter 8 out of context and other writings of Paul but they rest them because they're unlearned they're unstable to their own destruction ye therefore beloved seeing you know these things before beware lest ye also being led away with the error of the wicked fall from your own steadfastness but growing grace and in the knowledge of our lord and savior Jesus Christ to him be glory both now and forever amen look a safe person can still be led down the garden path of Calvinism and one of the reasons I'm teaching this is because many people that here will have been like I said infected to some degree with the lies of Calvinism so I want to go through some of the most clear and obvious and out there lies of Calvinism to help people hearing it and also we should be shining the light on this sort of false teaching anyway shouldn't we okay so Calvinism is profane and vain babblings right but what exactly are these babblings then so you might be sitting here going I don't really know much about this in fact a brother spoke to me just before the services said you know in his background in a false church said you know they didn't really hear much about most of these sort of false doctrines and these false false versions of not even just Christianity I mean Baptist churches right there are people here that could have got saved and gone right well I know the King James is a word of God that sounds right to me that's what this person saved me with where do I go and then they start looking around and look there's a lot of King James Calvinist churches aren't there Baptist church independent Baptist churches some of them claim to be as well but you don't want to go there do you you don't want to get get poisoned with that sort of junk well what is Calvinism then well it's named after the heretic John Calvin although it basically seems to have a lot of similarities with long-term gnostic beliefs I believe brother John Cornell did something that a long time ago when we first started the church just before maybe it's like a men's preaching night I think it was and that was a pretty interesting sermon just showing the many many similarities are you know identical in some parts to to what are sort of gnostic beliefs but let's continue on anyway John Calvin lived from 1509 to 1564 he's a French reformer in Geneva who broke away from the Catholic church now he was a pastor theologian and writer he wrote commentaries but but the main thing and the main kind of place a lot of these teachers come from is his book Institutes of the Christian Religion where he basically orders these wicked doctrines and he seems to put them what a lot of people say into good order and they're well ordered well formatted now Calvinism is often known by its famous tulip acronym which is why we've got a tulip on the front of our bulletin today but before we look at that we're going to start with Calvin's belief of the sovereign god now by the way just just just a heads up on that true he didn't come up with the tulip acronym that was just some cute thing that some of his kind of deranged followers came up with afterwards okay but what he did he did teach all five points of tulip okay now the extent of of this first doctrine I want to look at is is Calvin's belief on the sovereign god now again this is something that I've seen transcend many denominations where people just talk about what god is sovereign sovereign god that basically the extent of it does vary so you've got on one hand you've got the people that kind of believe well you know just god's god's ultimately in control of the universe yeah I agree with that then you've got the other side of the scale where basically god is is ordaining every single event thing thought action that happens in in the world okay that's John Calvin's belief that's not our belief obviously but that is John Calvin's belief and like I said amongst Calvinist churches amongst people that claim to be Calvinists there's probably pretty much somewhere in between the two scales and that but I believe he was pretty clear about this he said in his book institutes of the Christian religion all events whatsoever are governed by the secret council of god he also said if one falls among robbers or ravenous beasts if a sudden gust of wind at sea causes shipwreck if one is struck down by the fall of a house or a tree if another when wandering through desert paths meets with deliverance or after being tossed by the waves arrives in port and makes some wondrous hair-breadth escape from death all these occurrences prosperous as well as adverse carnal sense will attribute to fortune but those who have learned from the mouth of Christ that all the hairs of his head are numbered he quotes or he puts in brackets Matthew 10 30 will look farther for the cause and hold that all events whatsoever are governed by the secret council of god he goes on to say god is deemed omnipotent not because he can act though he may cease or be idle or because by a general instinct he continues the order of nature previously appointed but because governing heaven and earth by his providence he so overrules all things that nothing happens without his counsel and then further on he says let him therefore who would beware of such unbelief always bear in mind that there is no random power or agency or motion the creatures who are so governed by the secret council of god that nothing happens but what he has knowingly and willingly decreed now it all sounds you know very well well learned and you know what a great philosophy and yeah god is just sovereign over everything but let's apply that to real life for a second according to john calvin and the other weirdos that hold this view the current abuse of multitudes of children around this world is actually god's will yeah that's basically what he's saying isn't he all of the famous serial killers of past and present with all the weird deranged disgusting things that they've done was actually all ordained by god it was all part you know it didn't happen without god's counsel and his his his will for that to happen every sin that you and i commit has been knowingly and willingly decreed by god that's basically what he's saying isn't he and you can think of many other ways i mean straight away like what on earth yeah it is laughable isn't it it's just complete profane and vain babblings it's not i mean it's even worse than that isn't it it's just rank heresy nonsense it's it's it's a complete insult of our god that's why that sort of belief that's why that guy should just make you angry shouldn't he if you don't just laugh at him and we as english sometimes and maybe many places in the world we just kind of decided just laugh at people don't we instead of letting the anger really sink into your stomach yeah so it's easier just to laugh it off isn't it well the problem is that people don't just laugh it off so that with this what they do is they misuse scripture and and and they'll say things like how dare you question god and you know god is you know beyond your comprehension and stuff like it's just so you know such a mystery that how could you even dare to question this sort of belief but and again like this isn't even worth this first point isn't even a point of my sermon because it's so absurd it's not i mean it's like where do you even go in the bible you could just literally just go to almost every page and debunk this couldn't you but i just thought off the top of my head verses like psalm 7 11 god judges the righteous and god is angry with the wicked every day so is this some sort of self-punishment where god like ordains them to do wicked stuff oh no why did i do that i mean it's ridiculous isn't it god's angry at the wicked yet apparently ordained them to do all these things it was his well i mean it makes no sense does it and of you know just again off the top of my head what was the example prayer that jesus taught thy will be done we should be praying for god's why are we praying for god's will to be done if god's will is done in absolutely everything i mean it is absurd isn't it now it's such ridiculous false doctrine that really that should kind of consign john calvin to the scrap heap shouldn't it okay that should be the end that book should have really just been used for probably kindling at best yeah if you could be bothered to leave it in the kindling pile and risk actually glancing down at that rubbish and offending your eyes yeah but somehow that didn't happen why because it's a load of unsaved worldly people just you know trying to get all theological and all like profound and everything else and they love this sort of junk don't they but we're going to go back to first timothy chapter two where we started as it leads on to our next point so go back to first timothy chapter two because this sovereignty god's will is done at all times garbage is basically the basis of the famous tulip acronym okay the tulip acronym now like i said john calvin didn't come up with that but he did teach all of the vain babblings which make it but before we do that just the first few verses of first timothy two do show that god's will isn't a given in life okay look at first timothy chapter two and verse one first timothy two one says i exhort therefore that first of all supplications prayers intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men for kings and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty so this is paul encouraging supplications prayers intercessions to give you thanks especially for kings and those in authority is that something that we all do does everyone do that no i don't you have to do a raise of hands because i know most people in here probably don't do that but is it something that god wants us to do yeah it's something god wills us to do but we don't do so straight away we see that god's will isn't always done is it for this verse three is good and acceptable insight of god our savior so something is amiss straight away here but the next verse seals the deal who will have all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth what's god's will that all men are saved all men who will have all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth do men do all men get saved no all men don't get saved why because we have the choice because it's our choice it's our choice whether or not we get saved or not and although this verse alone destroys most of the garbage that came out of john calvin's mouth and the rest of these clowns that follow him let's have a look anyhow yeah let's let's continue with this so tulip stands for in case you're wondering and i always like i always forget the second one but tulip is total depravity unconditional election limited atonement irresistible grace and perseverance of the saints does it sound so theological so it's like so clever isn't it the way the way they did that with tulip as well it must be true right but all it really does just completely ruin what is quite a pretty flower isn't it it's pretty pretty yeah a lot of tulips in holland isn't it it's holland where most of the tulips come from that really nice flat but unfortunately it kind of you always when you think of a tulip if you're kind of you know if you know about this stuff it just makes you think of that disgusting five-point calvinist nonsense doesn't it so the title of my sermon is you know is five profane and vain babblings of calvinism and by the way this isn't the only five i would say that first one the goddess sovereign and basically ordains all sorts of filth and sickness in this world and the rest of it is not just a profane and vain babbling that is just full-on wickedness isn't it but we're going with profane and vain babblings and in case you're wondering this is a five-point sermon and point number one is total depravity total depravity so what what is total depravity and if you might be sitting there if you haven't heard this sort of stuff before thinking what on earth total depravity this sounds pretty disgusting doesn't it well this is a belief that man is completely touched or affected by sin in all that he is in nature he is completely fallen now they like to add him but it's not as bad as he could be in otherwise everyone would just be some murdering nut job wouldn't they okay so so they're kind of like somewhere in between here furthermore this total depravity means that the unregenerate will not of their own free will choose to receive christ so john calvin i think looked at himself and realized that he was a complete depraved sicko okay so and i believe that a lot of these these calvinists deep down know that they are completely depraved yeah so in a way there's probably some truth to this but they claim that no one that everyone is so depraved that they couldn't choose faith in jesus christ now part of the problem where they could because it i hope that you're sitting there thinking how on earth does anyone come up with this sort of stuff well the problem is that they confuse reprobates okay a lot of the times they confuse verses and passages teach us about reprobates okay and that's they're people that have been given over to a recreate mind that have rejected god change the truth that got into a lie and and have cut and there's a point in life with some people where god gives them over they're done okay they are reprobate they are totally depraved yes okay but that's not everyone okay not everyone i hope everyone here is sitting here thinking yeah before i got saved i was so depraved i was so violent something might have been a little bit depraved sometimes you can look back and the more you read your bible thinking yeah that's pretty wicked yeah hopefully not so totally depraved that as these guys believe you could not have chosen faith in jesus christ now it's a bit weird isn't it turn of revelation 22 we just read verse 4 then first timothy 2 which was who will have all men to be saved talking about god our savior and to come unto the knowledge of the truth so god wants all men to be saved what's the problem why are they not all saved their free will okay the free will of man is the problem god wants people to choose to choose life revelation chapter 22 and verse 17 revelation 22 17 says and the spirit and the bride say come and let him that heareth say come let him that is the first come and whosoever will let him take the water of life freely look everyone's inviting them whosoever means anyone but that anyone has to will whosoever will they have to want to come and take eternal life don't they okay and we go out and we preach the gospel and we try and find people who want eternal life don't we turn to acts chapter 17 see they they're being told to come but they have to want to they're being commanded aren't they they're being commanded so well if you fancy it look they're being commanded by god but they still basically disobey don't they they disobey them we all disobey god we all disobey god even as saved christians we disobey them in many other areas of our lives don't we sadly we shouldn't but everyone here does from time to time but look at act 17 and verse 30 act 17 30 says and the times of this ignorance god winked at but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent they're commanded to repent that's changed their mind turn from unbelief to faith in christ all men everywhere what's the problem they choose not to okay i mean it's one of like this you know it's one of those sermons where you think you are can i even can you even be bothered to kind of to go too deep into it because it's so ridiculous it just goes against so many clear scriptures of the bible doesn't it so we have free will they claim that we're so totally depraved that you couldn't actually choose christ but the bible says that god commands all men everywhere to repent so it's not that he's just choosing certain ones he wants everyone to put their faith in christ okay five profane and vain babblings of calvinism number one is total depravity that one's just ridiculous number two well they're all ridiculous number two is unconditional election unconditional election remember we're going off this tulip acronym so we've had to tell you we've now got to you unconditional election so god elects a person based upon nothing in that person because there is nothing in him that would make him worthy of being chosen rather god's election is based on what is in god god chose us because he decided to bestow his love and grace upon us not because we are worthy in and of ourselves of being saved now just just a quick heads up here i'm just giving a summary that kind of seemed to fit with quite a few things i was looking at online but they'll be kind of varying you know you'll have the cabinets that's been misrepresented that's what someone else said but it's all pretty much the same rubbish okay okay we can split hairs but this is basically what these people believe but we'll just go off the unconditional election i don't think many people are confused about what they basically are teaching now just to make it clear of course we're not worthy okay no one here is worthy of getting saved no one here was good enough no one here well just please god enough for anything else to get saved it's not that we're better than anyone else but there is a condition to election isn't there unlike what they could say there is conditional election the condition is faith in jesus christ okay that's the condition to election that's what makes you elect which is another way basically because it comes with the same word of saying selected and look turn of romans chapter 10 that's what's funny about this doctrine they're redefining the word when you elect someone it's based on criteria isn't it think about when someone's when a new mayor a councillor a politician is elected it's based on a criteria you elect them okay they're your choice based on maybe because they're not quite as hideous as the rest of them if you can be bothered to vote but for for them to get that office it's based on what usually getting more votes than anyone else there is a criteria for their election it's not at random is it okay the word doesn't fit with just a random shut your eyes that one can get saved that one can't now it's ridiculous that's not what it means does it well they've they've basically changed you know changed the word elect because they love to go well look elect elect elect so then you almost get like brainwashed if if you know for those who have been kind of who've been subjected to this nonsense if you think well it does say elect yeah but elected is based on a criteria okay so the whole thing is so ridiculous isn't it well then people almost oh i don't want to read oh i don't know how how would i describe how would i explain that passage it does say the word elect yeah they were elected based on criteria what's the criteria well the criteria for old testament election was basically being that nation of israel they were the elect based on the promises to abram based on their bloodline which now in new testament spiritual israel is faith in christ right now don't get me wrong people always say by faith in christ but the term elect has just now gone across to the to basically spiritual israel okay you're elect by by for what reason by putting your faith in jesus christ and that's the criteria so they'll take these verses that talk of god's elect and then they they'll then just basically you know go well well look elect it's got to be some random chance thing that happened before the world began that god just chose you and chose not you now here's the thing yeah theoretically you look at it and you go well they're still not saying it's based on anything you did yeah so what's so good about you know what what is it that makes them want to believe this because you know what when i when i was first saved and i'm going to hold my hand up here i listened for a short period of time to a wicked false prophet called john macarthur okay for a short time out of laziness i was like well verse by verse that sounds pretty simple you know i don't really have to study so much i didn't really you know understand much and what it makes you feel with this election nonsense is you still feel kind of special and i was at a church an evangelical church where i first went to where they it seemed believed all this nonsense as well so you still feel even though they're saying it's not based on anything you've done it was before the world began you know god just kind of chose you right you still feel a bit like well i am one of these elect aren't i you know now unfortunately i started smelling a rat and i think the spirit was getting vexed and and praise god that i was reading my bible and and i got out of this nonsense okay but i don't think everyone it's not necessarily automatic for people i don't really know what our line is for that but so like i said people who and i was saved yeah but i was conned a bit by this for a while but what it did do is it did make me feel a bit kind of special yeah a bit good about myself well thank god i'm one of the elect cheers for that yeah and it's a wicked doctrine isn't it and it's a nonsense doctrine now what they'll do is they'll take verses on god's foreknowledge i'll take verses on predestination predestined to a glorified body by faith in christ and god's foreknowledge of the fact that we will be so god god's you know god's omnipresent isn't he god knows the beginning from the end but then they'll apply that to that you were somehow just selected sorry not selected because it's just at random chosen at random and you know and and that was before the world began and god chose you to get to get saved and and put all that together got this bizarre doctrine here now like i said the elect is saved what's the one criteria for faith in christ look at romans 10 and verse 9 where it reads that if if notice that word if thou shalt confess thy mouth to the lord jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that god is raising from the dead thou shalt be saved the saved of the elect right the elect to the same saved the elect what's the criteria believe in your heart that god is raised from the dead confess your mouth the lord jesus if you do that you're saved the if is there because there's a choice to make that's the choice we make who's the choice for well let's have a look for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation for the scripture saith whosoever that means anyone yeah anyone doesn't think that means anyone no whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed that's anyone yeah anyone believes the lord jesus christ they're saved their elect yeah for there is no difference between the jew and the greek for the same lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him all means all for whosoever look there's that whosoever again shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved unconditional election yeah right what a nonsense but let's continue with the nonsense so go back to first timothy chapter two five profane and vain babblings of calvinism number one total depravity number two unconditional election number three limited atonement still it's sounding theological here isn't it these guys are so wise how could they be wrong brother ian i must be wrong here maybe we just need to turn into calvinists then we sound more clever don't we limited atonement basically now this one is is so ridiculous okay christ bore the sin only of the elect not everyone who ever lived okay so basically when christ died when christ shed his precious blood it was only for those that god had already randomly chosen for no reason before the world began it just just last bit on unconditional election you know what that's saying don't you that when god randomly chose people who were so depraved that they couldn't choose jesus christ themselves that he was also just randomly choosing the vast majority of everyone else to go to hell for eternity unbelievable isn't it because that's what they're teaching there oh well and again well at least i'm saved well i'll go with that because at least i'm one of the elect who's being taught this rubbish that's that's that's a mindset isn't it what a nonsense but limited atonement now this one's so ridiculous so ridiculous because of the tons of famous scriptures that so clearly debunk it okay tons tons of famous scriptures that debunked this rubbish they're basically saying that christ only died for those who'd already chosen like i said and and it basically is to prop up their random election doctrine okay because otherwise um so that their random election doctrine because it wouldn't make any sense would it because well why is christ dying for everyone if god already had only chosen certain people so they kind of have to fit this one in you know thank god that tulip's got those letters because it just fits in nicely doesn't it yeah so they fit this in otherwise the random election would make no sense would it the problem like i said is a versus galore that say otherwise because savages offered to all now we're in first timothy two i think which said for this is good and acceptable in the sight of god our savior who will have all men all means all all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth now that's all people isn't it does all mean all yeah i you know i'm no expert scholar okay i'm you know i'm not the wisest man that ever lived but i don't know for me when i see all i just see all yeah i don't know about you guys i see all but apparently the calvary doesn't see all there okay not the random sum the all yeah verse five for there is one god and one mediator between god and men the man christ jesus now just quickly on this anyone uh commercial break here anyone ever heard the jesus is god deniers using this verse before anyone ever heard that before no so i saw this somewhere recently someone said well first timothy two five for one for there is one god and one mediator between god and men the man christ jesus but we just saw verse three which says for this is good and acceptable in the sight of god our savior who's our savior god what does jesus mean savior jesus christ is god he's 100 god but he's also 100 human right that's why it says between god and men the man christ jesus anyway let's continue verse six who gave himself a ransom for all there's that all again to be testified in due time so he gave himself a ransom for all but apparently according to calvinist that was just all the randomly chosen elect yeah no the bible says he gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time now turn to john three just in case you're somehow still not convinced like i said you could go to many places in the bible but these are just some famous ones john three makes it clear that all doesn't just mean all the random pre-chosen john chapter three and verse 14 says this john 3 14 and as moses lifted up the servant in the wilderness this is john 3 14 even so must the son of man be lifted up that whosoever that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life i don't know about i think i've heard this verse before they must not have heard this verse before for god so loved what he loved just the elect for god so loved just a random group of people no for god so loved the world the world that he cast most of them into hell for eternity without any choice about it no for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life in case that's not enough let's look at verse 17 for god sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved it's open to the world isn't it pretty clear isn't it or is that just the world of pre-chosen i mean it's just it's just unbelievable isn't it okay so again that one is is ridiculous it's preposterous verse uh so number sorry five points here so number one was total depravity number two was unconditional election number three was limited atonement that one was probably the the most easily debunkable in fact they all are number four is irresistible grace anyone heard of that one before my church really irresistible grace right now this is a quick description of this the term unfortunately suggests a mechanical and coercive force upon the unwilling subject this is funny i like this yeah this is not the case instead it is the act of god making the person willing to receive him it does not mean that a person cannot resist god's will okay it means that when god moves to save regenerate a person the sinner cannot thwart god's movement and he will be regenerated so yes they cannot resist god's will what a nonsense isn't it so because it sounds so ridiculous they've kind of like oh no it doesn't mean that we'll reword it it means that when god moves to regenerate a person they cannot thwart god's movement and he will be regenerated but it doesn't mean that he forced it yes he does force it okay that's what it's saying basically if you're elect then you're getting saved that's what they're saying if you're elect if you're randomly chosen you will get saved it's irresistible nothing can change that okay because god's chosen you to get saved you will get saved yeah now just just quickly on this are you kind of noticing what all of this is kind of just putting a well at least putting a real dampener on soul winning when you if you believe this stuff say you are saved so like i said i was saved i listened to some of this for a little while and in my mind was obviously not elect then i want to hear it well is it even worth going out and preaching the gospel they're gonna get saved anyway it's irresistible they're they're elect how could they go against god's will might as well put my feet up by the way anyone had any calvinists knocking the door recently you know there's a lot of them around because we often say don't we we're like well you know there's you know where's the correct god because some of them claim to have the correct gospel but do they knock on the door no do you see them out soul winning you know seeing them pounding the streets oh no they must have a different way of doing it no they just put their feet up and go well if they're elect they're gonna get saved it's such a nonsense but it's wicked really isn't it because look when i when i was first saved and i was zealous and i was thinking i need to get people saved that weakened me right at the beginning i was like yeah i don't know do i really need to i just said john mccarthy carry on explained the bible to me put my feet up you know and and hey well thank god i'm one of the elect that was quite hand quite handy that my wife was elect as well you know brilliant let's hope the kids are elect yeah it is it's madness isn't it absolute madness well okay so well let's continue anyway because we might as well just quickly quickly show the ridiculousness of this so so you know we could we could just with this we could just go over the many scriptures that we've already looked at to show that god wants all men to be saved okay so already you know that's kind of debunked with that but and and by the way if because god wants everyone to be saved what would be the result if god's will was done in that and if it was and if and if it was irresistible basically everyone at the age of understanding whatever age that is five six seven eight whatever it is for for a job everyone just be getting saved wouldn't they everyone in the world would just be getting saved if god's will was just done across the board but no because we're not robots and no because god wants us to choose and we have that choice and and just a quick thing on that because i know like some of this you know sometimes people can get pulled into this because they want to understand but why all these people going to hell but you know maybe it is just because then you know god's how could they not choose because people don't choose god that's the truth and it's hard yeah and it can be gutting and it's gutting when you when you preach god's son who knows it's right and i've had people i had family members who know it's true they're not trying to debate and argue it and go i just think it's a load of rubbish they just don't choose faith in christ they don't they don't want to acknowledge god they don't want maybe that light shining on them they whatever it is they don't want to accept that maybe they're not good enough they don't accept that they're that they're that their sins would take them to hell whatever it is it's look but that's the truth that's the truth of life and god gives us the choice but these people don't want to believe that so turn to second peter chapter three where we do see that god is patient with us wanting us to get saved what's the problem men choose not to men choose not to second peter three nine second peter three nine says this the lord is not slack concerning his promise as as some men count slackness but his long suffering to us would not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance what do you say any he's not willing that any should perish god doesn't want people to go to hell now we're talking about people as they're bored into this world as they live now obviously there gets to a point you know where there are some people that that god does hate yeah he hates reprobates he hates children of the devil he hates people that have rejected that gift rejected god that have gone the other way and chosen chosen the devil okay now but they're still fair well i'd hope to say they're few and far between but from the beginning he's not willing that any he's not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance okay god doesn't want people to be reprobate god wants people to get saved okay but there comes a point where they cross the line sadly where they won't but that's not god's will he's not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance now who is he talking about then if the people getting saved are just the elect because can the elect perish apparently not so if he's not willing it's the same people that any should perish but that all should come to repentance i mean just first after verse it's such a nonsense isn't it but in case you're still wondering god's will isn't always done you don't have to end up at titus 2 11 says for the grace of god that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men is it irresistible then no way okay the grace of god that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men we you just looked at second beta 390 he's not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance five profane and vain babblings of cavernism number one total depravity number two unconditional lecture number three limited atonement number four irresistible grace and number five is perseverance of the saints okay what does perseverance of the saints mean that we are so secure in christ that we cannot fall away now this is another sneaky one where you've got a lot of different ends of the spectrum with that so you've got it can it can sound like eternal security amen we believe in eternal security here right okay look once saved always saved nothing can change that yeah you put your faith in jesus christ you cannot go to hell otherwise it's work salvation okay clear as day isn't it okay there's no line there's no like god didn't give a line or whatever sin you think you can't do that you can then then cast to everyone else as a line that would still make them go to hell no once you believe you have everlasting life okay it's grace through faith it's not of yourselves it's a gift of god not of works ascending matchable okay that's clear as day so they use that and they'll use verses which clearly teach eternal security they'll use like john 10 28 you know to 29 a verse like this and then try and teach that you will persevere in the faith till the end and and again there's different ends of spectrum some who you would literally if you didn't go to church for a month that you probably weren't saved okay and others you know different ends like i said different kind of amounts of this they'll put in there some that would be well you could fall away but you would always come back some will you will always eventually end your life in the face and there's different different amounts of this but what a lot of these guys really believe is that if you're not in church you're not saved okay that's what they really believe if you don't go to church you're not saved and they believe if you've got someone if you've gone out and got someone saved and they don't turn up at church then they must not have been saved okay that you didn't really get saved they probably weren't the elect they probably just paid lip service they probably didn't really believe but how many people here went to church the second they got saved no no how many people here have been in church week in week out ever since they got saved you bunch of wicked little hand out there i'm joking okay because it varies isn't it it varies and and how many people here know people that are saved and aren't in church would probably have never really been part of a church yeah yeah okay so but they they all say if you're persevering in the faith you know if you're not persevering in the faith then you're not saved now it's kind of reverse works where they're constantly judging salvation by works and again this can can infect all of us and many people like many people like to find the a way of judging someone's salvation don't they well you know not in church much are they really saved got them saved don't even want to come to church what sort of uh what sort of a christian is that or or maybe what they say oh i'm sorry i they say they're saved but they're still doing this sin they're still in this sin they're still no other than obvious signs of reprobation okay obvious signs of reprobation it's there's not really there's not a kind of a uh like a a leveling whatever you want to call it like a measuring stick sorry and and a lot of people like to find out some people you know they you know they'll go with i've heard people you've probably heard people go well if they're getting chastised well that's a good sign that they're saved or they're not saved because they're not getting or they are getting chastised but how many people here know people who have got nothing to do with the faith not even interested here in the gospel that seem to have what you would probably call chastisement in life and how many people do you see that don't seem to get any chastisement and and look you don't really know what's going on you don't know when that chastisement is going to come or anything else like that now you could argue with this that many of them are trusting in their so-called works as evidence of their salvation couldn't you a lot of them you you feel like when they're standing before jesus christ they're going to be saying lord lord have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name of course that those in thy name have done many wonderful works because it does seem to be their their measuring stick not not really what's in the heart and what comes out of the mouth because that's the only way that that look we can and it's not that we can know but that's really our measuring stick isn't it is what comes out of someone's mouth turn to um turn to romans four which squashes this nonsense about you know about about you know their work showing it well i read luke 6 45 which says a good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh okay look that's how we really know okay now look that doesn't mean that people can't lie yeah people do lie that doesn't mean that people can't kind of say they believe and they don't really believe in their heart eventually eventually i believe it comes out okay and eventually it does other than that look someone says they believe well praise god yeah and and and treat them like a believer yeah if they're living in wickedness it disqualifies him from church well treat them like a believer that needs just you know needs the chastisement of god but regardless that's the only way we can we can really know for sure can't we barring like i said if they're in clear blatant reprobate behavior type sins you know romans 4 5 says this but to him that worketh not but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly his faith is counted for righteousness it's our faith not our works it justifies yeah okay it's our faith it's not you're not justified by your works whether it's pre-salvation or post-salvation the only way you're justified is by faith in jesus christ god knows your heart the only way we we can really get an idea is what what someone professes with their mouth right go to turn to john chapter eight now some of these guys will argue that the christian may backslide for a while but if they're really saved they will get it right like i said earlier okay and i've heard these guys come out of this stuff before but maybe they want to tell that to king solomon do we know that he got it right at the end how about king saul i mean last thing he did was saw the witch at endor and then ended up killing himself what so was he not saved i mean i think the holy spirit came upon him as much as samson i think they're probably pretty level aren't they in the old testament i mean look it's ridiculous isn't it but what about here's another one i thought ananias and sephira sapphire or however you want to say it again there's the bible didn't tell us that they're unsaved we've got no reason to believe they are but they were lying to the holy ghost yeah and they end up getting killed look we don't we don't know look you could have a bad end yeah but if you're saved you're saved yeah now others say well if they're really saved then they will come to their doctrine of devils church yeah that's what they believe they go well if they're saved then they'll be in their wicked calvinist church if they're not clearly not saved yeah well they can't be saved because they're not you know they're just listening to rank heresy week in week out well in john chapter 8 we see the distinction between salvation and discipleship look at this john chapter 8 verse 28 john 8 28 says then said jesus unto them when you have lifted up the son of man then shall you know that i am he and that i do nothing of myself as my father has taught me i speak these things and he that sent me is with me the father has not left me alone for i do always those things that please him as he spake these words many believed on him what does that mean they got saved yeah they got saved how'd you get saved believe in the lord jesus christ that thou shalt be saved yeah they put their faith in the lord jesus christ okay so as you spake these words many believed on him because the word of god that saves isn't it the word of god that makes you want to put your faith in christ verse 31 says then said jesus to those jews which believed on him if okay who's he talking to save people right those jews which believed him if you continue in my word then then are ye my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free how do you get saved by believing on jesus how do you become a disciple by continuing in his word okay is continuing in his word necessary for salvation no what's what does it take to get saved believe on the lord jesus christ and thou shalt be saved it's two separate things and look it would be great wouldn't it wouldn't it be great for all those people you went out and got saved came to this job well we need a new building for starters right okay in fact we probably need we probably need more like a huge outdoor tent as well or something i don't know how we're doing yeah we need a field yeah but that's not how it works does it okay getting saved and discipleship are two separate things but the calvinist likes to put them together okay but that's not what the bible says jesus christ said if you continue in my word then are you my disciples indeed he's talking to the jews which believed on him all it takes for salvation is believing on the lord jesus christ okay the bible says that time and time again go back to first timothy too now first timothy too when we're talking about perseverance of the saints because look you're like well okay well you know that's kind of continuing in his word like being you know a top disciple if you're saved you're still gonna like do the things of god because everyone loves to kind of have well you would at least do this you at least feel like this you at least look first timothy too like most of the new testament i'm only going there just because that's where we started is an exhortation or an encouragement to persevere because it's not automatic is it it's not automatic to do the things of god it and it's so ridiculous this this sort of doctrine like i said i've had it in churches where they don't even claim to be calvinists where they're still saying well they would do this they would come to church they would like what are you talking about because otherwise what is a like what would be the point in most of this book telling us encouraging us instructing us how we should live because it's not automatic is it because you need to read it you need to try you need to persevere you need a battle with the flesh and and we all of us here will fail from time to time if not for many times to time yeah but that's why the bible's there that's why the word of god that's why we should be reading the word of god every day because it's constantly encouraging us to do that and first timothy two is no different paul said in verse six who gave himself a ransom for all yeah don't forget that all to be testified in due time where unto i am ordained a preacher and an apostle i speak the truth in christ and lie not a teacher of the gentiles in faith and verity i will i will okay therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting so the holy spirit is speaking through paul agreed yeah okay i think most people understand that with the bible that you know holy men of god speaks they're moved by the holy ghost yeah or many god's face okay as they were moved by the holy ghost so so the holy spirit speaks through paul god's will is that men pray everywhere yeah that they're holy that's what he's talking about lifting up holy hands that they're basically on the outward appearance are holy not wrathful not doubting is that the case with everyone is that the case any everyone here just go yeah you know i pray everywhere i lift up holy hands you know i never have wrath i never doubt no but whose will is it that we do that god's god god's will writing through paul is that that men pray everywhere lift up holy hands without wrath and doubting but it's because it's not automatic and because we don't persevere do we we should but we don't like the rest of the bible it's constantly trying to encourage us to live right verse 9 in like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel with shame face in this and sobriety not with broidered hair or gold or pearls or cosy array but which become women professing godliness with good works is that the case amongst safe women is that automatic i mean probably there's people here that have probably gone through these battles they're women here that may be gone through the battle with the world constantly trying to tell them to basically dress like what until recently was how a hook addressed yeah and and or cross-dress like a man because that's what the world tells you the world must be right yeah and look for some i understand i'm not saying it's easy for some women it's hard yeah they feel like it's their identity it's their wardrobe right now i've got to you know just just suddenly change like how i dress and everything else because it's not automatic is it and there are there are saved women who will never stop cross-dressing who will never stop dressing like whores but they're still saved they're still saved yeah there might be an abomination in god's sight but they're still saved but his will his will because he's just said i will therefore that men pray everywhere lift up holy hands without wrath and doubting in like manner also it's still his will right in like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel how many women don't adorn themselves in modest apparel god wants you to but you don't with shame facing this and sobriety not with broided hair okay that's kind of making a big big show of your hair not trying to that be your outward outward appearance or gold or pearls or kosia ray but which become if women professing godliness with good works now he's not saying you can't wear any jewelry what he's saying is is that is that you're adorning what what you're showing to other people should be should be what comes from inside should be your good works should be your you know women professing college should be a godly woman that should be you adorning okay but that's not automatic is it verse 11 let the woman learn in silence with all subjection but i suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp authority over the man but to be in silence is that happening everywhere is it happening everywhere a woman are women just learning in silence with all subjection is that just automatic is that are they just because they love to pick and choose don't they oh perseverance is like going to the going to the calvinist church that's perseverance yeah well okay yeah sure we shouldn't forsake the assembly of ourselves together the manner of summits but that ain't happening in in the calvinist church anyway because most of them are unsaved so you're not you're not actually persevering anyway going there but what about the rest of it you can't just pick and choose oh well i go to church i wear a stupid beret on my head because i believe that that's somehow a head covering because i didn't get to the end of the chapter talking about actual long hair yeah well you know i i i i go to church and i listen to some rubbish preaching once a week so i start persevering in the face they don't even read their bibles mostly because if they did they wouldn't be into this nonsense would they but but but they go there dressed in their trousers dressed in their skin tight stuff showing all their curves and everything else are women there and i'm not just picking on the women because what the men doing in those places well most of them could lead a woman if it if it you know if if well if they tried and they don't even try do they try no because that would be too against you know society and the rest of the brainwash that they've received but the bible says let the women learn the science of subjection okay that's persevering isn't it they don't do that what about the teaching usurping authority over the man i bet half of those sell out wishy washy henpecked men at those calvinist churches i bet there's that that authority is being usurped over them every day maybe not in public in the church maybe but i reckon the second they get out of there getting slapped around the face and told off for whatever they did in there i bet they are i bet they're getting the beret whack because look it's a lie isn't it they're a bunch of liars and they're not persevering for adam was first formed beneath and adam was not deceived but the woman being deceived was in the transgression notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety now what's the condition there to being saved in childbearing for i think from that you can see for that labor to go well for them because childbearing is a high-risk thing isn't it what is it if they continue in faith and charity in holiness with sobriety if they persevere because it's not automatic is it because being a christian doesn't mean you're automatically going to persevere in the faith if they persevere it's not automatic and by the way it's a they there if they i believe it says she shall be saved child bearing if they continue i think that's that's a husband and wife there okay and and men you know if you've got pregnant wives and everything else you need to be persevering in the faith yourselves as well to you know if you want to make sure that that that that that labor goes well so it's not automatic there's a condition there what's the condition the condition is persevering okay perseverance of the faith doctrine is nonsense absolute nonsense like the rest of the garbage of calvinism it's profane and vain babblings those are five profane and vain babblings there are many more amongst different calvinist churches just in case you're unsure and and you hear this tulip acronym spouted at you it means total depravity for the t the u is unconditional election the l is limited atonement the i is irresistible grace and the p is perseverance of the saints and the whole lot of it is a load of old rubbish on that let's pray father i thank you for your word i thank you that that we as you know just saved men women children of god here just you know could read the bible and just take it for what it says and we we don't have to have these puffed up false prophets telling us you know what the bible does and doesn't say when we can just open it up and read exactly what you do say that you're not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance that you make it so clear in in the word of god that you want the whole world to be saved sadly the vast majority don't but that's not not your will that's their will lord we we pray that it will help us to go out this afternoon and preach your gospel to people because how how shall they hear you know without a preacher and that's the way you've ordained it you want us to go out and preach the gospel to people please help us to all all want to do that to all go out and preach to people preach that they can have that you know they have that choice to put their faith in jesus christ lead us to receptive people lord who are willing to do that and in jesus name for all of this amen
