chapter number 20 it's a very interesting story it's kind of a longer story and what I kind of gleaned from this chapter or from this story is is kind of an important truth that can be found in a lot of places of Scripture but I just feel like this story specifically kind of highlights one of the reasons why you just don't negotiate with terrorists and so the title of my sermon this evening is don't negotiate with terrorists and we see here in verse number one the Bible says and been a dead the king of Syria gathered all his hosts together and there were 30 and two kings with him and horses and chariots and he went up and besieged Samaria and ward against it and he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel in the city and said on him thus saith been hey dad thy silver and thy gold is mine Samaria is being besieged by an enemy by the king of Syria and actually a lot of different hosts of armies here and the Bible says that in the besieging of the city he sends messengers and simply says hey everything that you know you have as far as gold and silver it's all mine just give it to me now and even in fact your wives and their children have it and they have goes and looks at Jezebel and he's like okay he's like are you sure you want her like all right you can have that it well actually what he says I am fine says hey everything that I have yours take it why he's afraid of dying and because he's afraid of dying because he's afraid of being killed he's kind of a coward and he simply just says fine have it all it's all yours whatever you want now he doesn't really mean that though because as we keep reading in the passage it says in verse number four and the king he said he answered that right verse five and the messengers came again and said thus speaketh been hey dad saying although I have sent unto thee saying thou shalt deliver me thy silver and thy gold my wives and my children yet I will send my servants unto thee tomorrow about this time and they shall search thine moment but at first Sam was chapter number 11 what more could he ask for he already got all the money all of the wise and anything that he likes all the guns all the toys everything that you know is something that someone would have any desire for any good merchandise that signed Michael Jordan Jersey or whatever you have you know just all the all the stuff that's good to you the things that you actually like but what if he had said yes well then what if they said this next here's another story that's very similar says in verse 1 the nay asked the Ammonite came up and camped against Jabesh Gilead so here's another besieging type scenario this is kind of a similar situation and all the men of Jabesh said in a ash make a covenant with us and we will serve thee so they're afraid of dying from the besiege and they basically asked what do you guys want well we'll serve you just just you know let us live basically verse 2 and they asked the Ammonites answered them on this condition will I make a covenant with you that I may thrust out all your right eyes and lay it up lay it for approach upon all Israel so they're saying hey we'll be your slave well that's not enough also I'm gonna rip out your right eye I'm gonna poke out your right eye just to make you have just just be an idiot basically just look like a fool and just or approach Israel I mean what if Ahab had said okay you want everything in my house you can have that then he'd come back and say oh and by the way you got to be our slave oh by the way we'll take everybody's wife oh and by the way let's take your right eye here's a question where does it stop and the answer is with a terrorist it never ever stops that's why you don't negotiate with terrorists and I really only have one reason that I'm gonna explain to you tonight it's because they're implacable terrorists are implacable now what is implacable implacable means that you're not able to be placated so it's in placable placable is from the word placate to placate someone means to satisfy or to appease to satisfy or to appease it makes me think of there's this stupid movie sorry I've been I'll give you a little bit of a movie taste all right for a moment I'll go back to my movie series in a minute but there's this movie Casper the friendly goes who's seen this movie Casper okay lots and all right when they eat the food because they're a ghost is drop straight through them it's basically just nothing it'd be like that where it's just you just eat and just go straight through you could eat forever there is no satisfaction there is no quenching of that thirst there is no stopping point because you'll just keep wanting to eat and eat and eat me and there's just no stopping point this is similar to how a terrorist is in the fact that they will not cease they will never be placated they will never have enough that's why it makes no sense to negotiate with the terrorists in fact that's been u.s. policy and dealing with terrorists for a long time I don't know if they actually still abide by it but the reason why they don't want to give in to terroristic threats is because they realize there's no stopping point if they say hey we want a million dollars or we're gonna kill this hostage and they're like okay we'll give you the million they're like did I say a million I meant ten million sorry that was a typo Oh ten minute we'll get you ten million did I say ten million I meant a hundred million and they're just gonna sit there until you say no they're just gonna keep reeling it in keep going for more and for more and for more and they just are never going to be satisfied that's why you just don't negotiate with a terrorist it's illogical you're essentially saying you don't understand the concept of a terrorist or the demands of a terrorist now when you think about a terrorist or someone that's causing terror the dictionary says it's someone that's causing persistent emotional distress but if you think about it when you're besieging a city and demanding goods this is a terroristic type type activity this person you didn't ask for them to come to see your city you're not wanting them to be there they're just they're demanding things of you they don't have any right to it they didn't cause any you didn't like rip them off or something now they're coming back after you this is just unprovoked they're coming after you they're attacking you this is what you would call a terrorist and their goal is to simply just strike fear in your heart to cause terror under you and because of their terror then they can extract goods from you to kind of extort goods from you by essentially causing you to be afraid so as long as you keep allowing them to terrorize you they will extract goods until kingdom come this is what extortionists do is what terrorists do is if they have something they can hold over your head if they have some way they can make you afraid then they will never stop doing it they will continually hold that token of your liberality until you basically stand up to them and what we need in this country is people that will not negotiate with terrorists but rather will stand up to the terrorists and say no and say you can't have that these goods now praise the Lord you know ab does finally get a backbone he gets good counsel from the elders of Israel and says you know what no I'm not doing this there is a stopping point for me and as a Christian we always try to make peace with people you know we're always willing to make compromises in certain situations to turn the other cheek as it were you know walk with a man twain you know he asks you walk a mile I'll walk with you two miles hey you want my coke coat here's my cloak also you know the Bible teaches that if it's possible we're supposed to make for peace we're supposed to be peace makers you know there's nothing wrong with suffering yourself to be defrauded there's nothing wrong with allowing someone to take advantage of you and just move on to accept that peace but there is a certain type of person a terrorist that I'm not giving you my other coat I'm not walking two miles with you I'm not giving you any money I'm not giving you any flour I'm not gonna allow myself to be defrauded of you no just nothing there is no negotiation with you you are not the type of person that I'm willing to negotiate with or to allow myself to be defrauded from now if you go back to first Kings chapter number 20 as we kind of look in this story a ab ends up winning the battle because he did the right thing he stood up to this bully he stood up to this terrorist and God is gonna allow them to win the battle but here's the thing does God want a ab to just kind of win the battle and then just let the survivors keep going or does he want them to utterly destroy them the answer is he wants to utterly destroy them but a ab isn't willing to get the job done he's gonna end up compromising and negotiating with this previous terrace I mean this guy's already proven he's a terrorist why would I ever negotiate with this person again or have any kind of relation with this guy again it makes no sense but we see in the later part of this chapter it says in verse number 30 but the rest fled to Aphex so they killed all these soldiers and another proof of the fact that this guy is implacable is after they destroyed thinks he's gonna get a lot of money out of it things he's gonna get goods out of it he still wants to negotiate with a terrorist because he's more interested with money than he is dealing with the problem he thinks he's already got the problem taken care of what is this guy gonna do good for me if he's dead but if I keep him alive then I can take advantage him a app flips the switch basically your whole family's gonna be destroyed and really it's his general it's the next generation that gets destroyed and let me tell you something in America our country is setting up the children for destruction because they're negotiating with terrorists they're negotiating with terrorists instead of standing up to them and telling them no and destroying them they're gonna let their children be destroyed because here's the simple fact either destroy or be destroyed there is not this neutral idea where all men are good all people can be reformed all people are inherently want good no the Bible teaches that we're all sinners number one we're all messed up and screwed up and then on top of that that some people get so screwed up there's no hope for them they're called a reprobate and there's no point in negotiating with reprobates in order to preserve your society in order to preserve the life of your children you have to destroy these terrorists now look at Judges chapter 19 and look at verse 22 it says now as they were making their hearts merry who is this it's a man is concubine and an old man they're traveling they stop in this town they need a place to stay the old man invites them in they're having dinner nothing unusual normal situation they're just having fun minding their own business simply like Samaria mining its own business then Ben-Adad all of a sudden comes out of nowhere surrounds them starts making demands of them right it's gonna sound very familiar says now they're making their hearts marry behold the men of the city certain sons of Belial beset the house round about what is that it's like sieging the city isn't it the exact same scenario and beat out the door and spake to the master of the house the old man saying bring forth the man that came into thine house that we may know him the man the master of the house went out unto them and said unto them nay my brethren nay I pray you do not so wickedly sing that this man is coming to mine house do not this folly now at this point at the story can't really fault the old man the old man is doing the right thing don't know this is not happening don't do this stupid thing don't do this idiotic thing don't do this foolish thing now this is when it stops being good verse 24 behold here is my daughter a maiden and his concubine them I will bring out now and humbly them and do it them what seemeth good unto you but unto this man do not so vile a thing what is he doing he's trying to negotiate with whom terrorists what is a bad decision negotiating with terrorists you never were satisfied and left it's just basically a stopping point for them or they have to go to work or whatever or it's the fact they basically abused her so much that she's literally just dead because as soon as they let her go she just basically falls down at the threshold and just dies what a great way to negotiate what a great thing to do is just hand them over the women and say like well just have her just whatever why because as soon as they kill your your wife as soon as they kill your concubine they're gonna want another one and then they're gonna want another one and they're gonna want another one and you read it in a story called Sodom and Gomorrah when they beset the house at that house it was every man from every quarter both young and old and they still wanted the visitors why because they're implacable terrorists go go to Romans chapter 1 Romans chapter number 1 now what's an application of this sermon well here's an application of this sermon is the fact that you should never negotiate with a faggot and you say what do you mean by that everything you can imagine there is no point in negotiating with those terrorists and of course they're gonna want to beset the house roundabout they're gonna want to come and storm down your doorstop they're gonna want to come and attack you you're gonna just be minding your own business enjoying your life and they're gonna come provide them protection wisdom I pray that you would just help our nation you would help our area you'd help Texas you would help the Dallas-Fort Worth area realize the destructive forces of these terrorists of these reprobates in our nation and that you would just open up the eyes of our country that they could just see the evil for what it is that you could bring back revival in this country you can bring back revival in this nation but no matter what happens that you would just give us a hedge of protection and that we could just keep being steadfast and giving glory and honor to you in
