Amen All right, first of all, let me just apologize for running late tonight I was really enjoying fellowship with uh, brother ramson sister jc Uh, you know the usual kebab place and just time got away from me So my apologies there, but uh, we're there in song of solomon chapter number four And look at verse number nine says thou has ravished my heart my sister my spouse the title for the sermon tonight is My sister my spouse my sister my spouse song of solomon chapter number four So We are continuing continuing going chapter by chapter through this book Uh, please bear in mind that what i'm going to be preaching or what i'm basically preaching almost every chapter in this book is usually unheard of In a lot of churches i've said when I first started preaching from the song of solomon That some people don't think it's a book that requires to be preached upon It's kind of well that should just be read in your private setting And you know, honestly there are pastors actually believe they shouldn't preach on the song of song because they think it's a little bit too uh a little bit too romantic A little too, you know too close to to the the physical relationship between husband and wife But to me, this is god's word. I mean, why why be ashamed? I mean, you know when it comes to this world, they corrupt they've corrupted what love is they corrupt relationships They corrupt marriage, you know They accept that you know divorce is just the way of life and for an occasional adultery. That's just the way of life And to me, well, maybe we just need to hear more preaching on the song of solomon Like maybe we just need to hear what god has to say about relationships and love and physical intimacy And just just receive that and have a different take on what you know, what the rest of what is teaching Society and so I think it's important. I don't think we need to be ashamed of what it says These are god's words. All of god's words are pure, you know, they're all worthy for doctrine for reproof for correction So, you know i'm going to preach this. All right, so we're here in chapter four. Let's start there in verse number one Now before I read verse number one, you might say well Why did I choose my sister my spouse as a title? It's because this term my sister my spouse appears three times in this chapter So I thought okay, it's kind of a key theme that gets mentioned there So we'll be touching upon that but we'll get to that in a moment. Let's start there in verse number one Behold thou art fair So remember this is a relationship where the husband is speaking to the wife the wife is speaking to the husband Now just to give you just for the clarity chapter four is quite actually quite simple to know who's speaking The vast majority from chapter from verse number one Until the second last verse it's the husband speaking to his wife The wife only says the very last verse in response to her husband Okay. Now so this is the husband and i'll prove to you later that it's definitely the husband but he says to his wife Behold thou art fair so saying honey, you're beautiful And so again, we we learn that as married couples husbands. You should give your wife compliments You should speak of her beauty. You should tell her she's beautiful. Okay. I mean we can lose This romantic side in our marriage. It needs to continue. Please compliment your wife We already saw in chapter number one that women many times they're self-conscious about their appearance They might be looking hey, they might even look at another lady in the church and go Well, she's prettier than me You know what? I hope my husband doesn't look at her or this or that and you know you husbands you go a long way just to Be able to reinforce to your wife that you find her attractive that you love her that you appreciate every part of her And so here we have husband king solomon speaking to his wife behold Thou art fair my love behold thou art fair twice Then he says this thou has dove's eyes now that's been mentioned already in chapter number one So he says look wife you've got eyes like a dove now, I don't really fully understand the compliment there But it's obviously a compliment. Okay. So what what you notice here Is that he starts speaking about his wife's appearance? He starts from head and starts to work his way down But the first thing that he mentions there of course are her eyes, uh within their locks So her locks are her hair So I suppose you get the image of her hair kind of partly covering her face Partly covering her eyes and he finds it attractive about his wife Okay, he goes thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from mount gilliard Okay. So again when you I guess when you have the idea of flock of goats, you know, she's got a lot of hair Okay, she's got long hair. All right, you know just very quickly I'm not going to teach you to teach about the length of hair But the bible is very clear that women are to have long hair and men are to have short hair I mean, this is just the clarity of the bible Okay, this isn't my opinion, you know, and what's what's wonderful about this truth is that even if you go to nations? Uh that are far from god. They're far from the from the god of the bible You know the vast majority of nations understand this common principle because nature itself teaches us That men are to have short hair and women are to have long hair And so he's complimenting her hair that it's like as many goats. Okay, so obviously she has long hair now One thing you notice there in verse number one is that he says to his wife that she has dove's eyes. It could be the husband speaking when he says in verse number 15 behold thou art fair My love behold thou art fair thou hast dove's eyes now when I preach to chapter number one I said to you guys in verse number 15. I'm like, I don't know who's speaking like I don't know if it's the husband speaking to his wife or the wife speaking to Her husband because also in the song of solomon we see the wife complements her husband's appearance as well Okay, but then you say well pass it then it's clear because in chapter number four It's the husband speaking to the wife that says that you know, she's got dove's eyes Okay, I I get that I can see that that makes logical sense But now go to chapter number five go to song of solomon chapter five Go to song of solomon chapter five and verse number 12 song of solomon chapter five verse number 12. It says his eyes Are as the eyes of doves So they have the wife complementing the husband and she's saying your eyes are like doves You know, uh by the rivers of waters washed with milk and fitly set So again, i'm still not any closer to knowing chapter number one who's saying those words because they're both using the same Language they're both complementing the same about the dove's eyes So in case you guys were wondering like, you know, that seems pretty clear Why didn't you understand chapter number one is because they both use the same level of complement Okay. So anyway back to chapter number four back to number chapter number four verse number two So he's spoken about her eyes about her hair. All right. I mean, he's just like he's just He's in love with his wife He loves her appearance And you know It's perfectly right to marry someone you're attracted to You know, please don't take this view That oh the appearance doesn't matter Okay. Now look more important than the appearance. Of course, is there in a man I understand that okay the personality Hey marry a believer. Okay, marry someone that is saved marry someone that loves the lord and loves you But look, it's perfectly fine to enjoy You know the opposite sex appearance. All right, enjoy your wife's appearance for the wife to enjoy her husband's appearance This is perfectly fine Okay within the boundaries within the context of how god wants a marriage to work Okay, there's a reason why? A man is naturally attracted to a woman and a woman is naturally attracted to a man. It's within our DNA It's how god has created us. Okay, it's within our feelings. It's within our emotions. We should not shy away from that truth Okay, you know, please don't take this view and I think maybe sometimes in churches you hear this That the appearance that doesn't matter well You're you're then challenged you're challenging a song of salmon Like maybe that's why he doesn't get preached because because no appearance matters Okay, i'm attracted to my wife Okay, I think she's the most beautiful woman in the world Okay, but hey each husband should say about his wife. Hey, that's the most beautiful woman in the world That he's attracted to his wife Okay, one woman for one man for life. That's how god created things to be All right, so it's good to be attracted. Hey, it's good men to tell your wives that she's beautiful All right. Now here's the thing your wife's going to get older Okay, she's going to get wrinkles okay, she's going to get spots and and Right. She's going to have children and then her body won't look exactly the same as it used to okay You continue complimenting your wife. Okay, you continue telling her how beautiful she is Okay, and look man by doing that by putting this into practice into action It'll help you have your mind and your eyes on your wife alone Okay, it really you you instruct your mind your eyes say no my eyes are for my wife alone. Not some other woman Okay, but you need to be telling her that you love her that you find her appearance beautiful So now it's in verse number two. He speaks about her teeth He goes thy teeth are like a flock of sheep That are even shorn. What's that about? Yeah, why so when you think of a sheep we think of white but then here's the thing as a sheep grows in its When the wool gets longer it starts to get dirty Okay, but this shape this shape has been cleanly shorn. Okay, so he's got a white coat. Okay, assure. Yeah, she's got white teeth Did you know it's biblical to have white teeth? Let's keep going there. It says which came up from the washing. I guess it's perfectly symmetrical because it's like they're twins So for every molar there's another molar for every canine tooth. There's another canine tooth right because man you got like a perfect set of teeth So, you know, you know, okay You know what if your teeth are a little bit out of shape and you can afford it I say go to the dentist get the braces on whatever it is, right look after your teeth brush your teeth I think it's good. I think you know, we're not you know, I mean the man is The man is being uh, you know, complimentary to his wife about these things You know, this is the word of god All right, you can't turn around with the pastor. That's just her opinion. What that's what he's saying to his wife You know, she's taking care of her teeth. All right Look at verse number three Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet now. I believe here. I believe quite strongly that she's wearing lipstick scarlet lipstick Okay again And look if you take a position you say I don't want my wife to wear makeup and you know If ladies just say i'm not gonna wear fine. There's nothing sinful. That's that's a good decision I don't think sometimes these chemicals on your skin are the best having that all the time Okay, but you'll find in the bible that there's nothing wrong with jewelry. There's nothing wrong with level a level of makeup Okay, as long as you don't make that the priority of your life Okay that you focus on the inner beauty you focus on that new man the new creature that god has created within you That's the priority but there's nothing wrong with some level of makeup Okay, thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, but notice the next words It's not just that she looks beautiful on the outside, but it says and thy speech is comely It's not just you got nice lips, but what you speak about is wonderful. It's beautiful. Your speech is comely He says thy temples, I guess i'm assuming that's your temple right to the side of your head there I'm assuming that's what he's referring to thy temples are like a piece of pomegranate Within thy locks I'm, not sure what the pomegranate significance is there. Obviously pomegranate is a fruit. It's sweet All right, so he's describing his wife as this pomegranate within thy locks. So her hair obviously is covering her pomegranate temples Anyway, he finds that beautiful All right Now what i'm going to do, please keep your finger there and go to another book that was written by solomon proverbs chapter 11 Go to proverbs chapter 11 Okay You say lipstick pasta, really? I don't believe lipstick is sinful Okay, but ladies I do also I do also, you know want to be careful about what i'm saying Because you don't want to just Paint your face and look like a complete clown Okay, where you know, you've got so much makeup on that You don't even look like the person that you are naturally without it. You guys know what i'm referring to Okay And as you turn to proverbs 11 i'm going to read to you from second kings chapter 9 verse 30 Which says and when jehu was come to jesrael? Uh, yeah, jesrael jezabel You guys know about jezabel. Surely. Okay wicked woman jezabel heard of it and she painted her face and tied Her head and looked out a woman Sorry out a window Okay, jezabel paints her face. I get the idea of painting your face. You look like a clown Like, you know your eyelashes are like this long, you know, and you got lipstick and you look like, you know Your lipstick's gone beyond, you know, your face is like a totally different color than what your natural color is Okay, well that that obviously is going too far You know when you look at a woman like jezabel such a wicked woman You can see that she's obsessed about her appearance so much so that her natural appearance she goes. I don't like that She completely paints her face So what i'm trying to say, uh late especially ladies is that you need balance you need balance in life. Okay Some level of makeup is not wrong. It's not sinful Okay, if you're just trying to be attractive now remember what is the main reason you want to dress up and look nice for your husbands Okay, so your husband can compliment you the problem we have in society today Is you have ladies they dress up really nice Okay, they put on some really nice fresh clothes. They do their hair nicely. They put on some nice makeup Not for their husband they go to work And and who appreciates her it's their work colleagues It's their employers. They get to look at the beautiful aspect of that lady and then she comes home And she's too tired to look pretty for her husband That obviously your priorities are all wrong at that point. Okay. Hey, this woman is dressed up She's looking nice for her husband and her husband says honey. You look beautiful You look beautiful and you don't just look beautiful, but even the words that you speak are comely You know, you're not some bimbo Men, you don't marry some bimbo All right, some woman who looks pretty on the outside, but is nothing on the inside And girls same thing you don't want to be so prioritized on the outside that you don't work on the inside You know, I believe women should have intelligence. I believe they should have a level of wisdom They can have a good conversation with their husbands. I like having conversations with my wife like sometimes just you know, I want to take my wife out on a date just so I can talk to her because Many times the kids are there like, you know, the conversation is always with the kids sometimes you need some adult conversation you need to plan life and and talk about the changes and And where we're going together as a marriage and as a family. Hey, we need to have that kind of conversation So don't be a bimbo men don't marry a bimbo All right, make sure she's able to speak some wisdom In fact, I got you up there in proverbs 11. Look at proverbs 11. Look at verse number 22 Proverbs 11 verse 22 it says as a jewel Of gold you go man a jewel of gold. That's beautiful as a jewel of gold in a swine's snout So is a fair woman Which is without discretion without discretion means she's got no judgment like she's a bimbo That's like putting a gold ring, which is beautiful in the snout of a Pig and don't forget in the time of the bible the pigs were unclean animals Okay, you go man. Look how beautiful she is on the outside Okay, that's just a gold ring. But the rest of the woman is a it's a pig Okay, because she's got nothing to offer You know you're attracted to her just for her beauty, but she's got no value about herself And again ladies in our church don't think it's all about beauty Okay You know, yeah. Yeah, your beauty is for your husband Okay, but you work on the inner person Hey, you learn some truths, you know you gain the fear of god and the wisdom that comes from his word Hey, you learn to have discretion to have good judgment to be able to have that conversation with your husband I mean king solomon he's complimenting his wife not just on her appearance, but what she's able to contribute in conversation All right So let's keep going there in song of solomon chapter four verse number four So he's working his way down Now he's touching about her lips. All right, then he gets to her neck verse number four He goes thy neck is like the tower of david Builted for an armory whereon they hang a thousand bucklers all shields of mighty men You know, he's like man, I love your neck Your left your neck is like this strong tall tower You know and you know the thought that I get there basically is that she's got she's probably got good posture All right, like she's not walking around like this, you know Like she's probably like she probably stands upright right? I mean she's a queen she's just married to the king Like she's probably learned how to position herself and you know her neck's lifted up and and she man. I love your neck You know and ladies, you know, these are parts that men are attracted to honestly, you know You know, like what you're reading here is not like unusual Okay It's not unusual. These are things that men find attractive about you You know and uh, and it's good. It's good to have this attraction between husband and wife Verse number five. He keeps going. It gets a little bit low now He says thy two breasts are like two young rows that are twins Which feed among the lilies? All right, so he finds that part of her body attractive as well Okay, but I just want you to notice that's verse number five Okay, he's been complimenting her verse number one two, three four. Okay. He's not just fixated on one thing All right, he finds his whole wife beautiful Every aspect all right and again this tells us how god has created man Okay, and men how we have to be careful With the thoughts with our thought life with that with our eyes Because we are naturally attracted to females All right, and you know, that's why god's done that so we can find a wife and and have be one flesh And be married be united be in love enjoy marriage have children. This is all part of god's plan but in light of that truth also You need to be careful like if you're driving down the road and there's a billboard of some woman in her underwear Man, you gotta look away Okay, you can't be like, okay, obviously at some point you're gonna notice that But you must immediately go. No, i'm not looking that way I find my wife attractive these eyes are for my wife and my wife alone And so we're in this constant battle man, you know even going to the shops, you know The advertisements in west fields or something like that. We have to be careful. You have to be watchful. I live on the sunshine coast You know people girls walk around Strange like it like, you know, you you come to so and they're literally in the bikinis or something because it's a beach coast You know, I mean the sunshine coast It's like, you know, and you got to be careful You got to look away and say no eyes You're not going to make a cover of my eyes You know, i'm not going to look upon a maid i'm not going to look upon other women These eyes for my wife my wife alone. I'm going to appreciate my wife And so men we have to control this Okay, again everything within the right boundaries All right a physical relationship within the right boundaries of marriage Okay Complimenting a woman for her appearance within the right boundaries marriage Okay, no one else No one else Now if you're at work and your lady employer colleague work colleague comes up to you, how do I look? You know what? You look away Don't compliment her don't be like, oh you look fine and look no those words are for your wife, okay Those words are for your wife, let's keep going there verse number six He says until the day break and the shadows flee away. So again, he's just poetically speaking about how she smells Okay, she smells like myrrh like frankincense these are perfumes, right? She's got some cologne some perfume, you know, she's got a nice fragrance about herself And again, just like i've preached before man. It's there's nothing wrong. We've put it on some nice You know some nice scents, right put in some deodorant or some Perfume obviously, you know be careful about just putting chemicals on your body in general Okay, you know if if normally if i'm going to put on a perfume I don't put it on my skin I put it on my my clothing Generally, that's how I do things so I know how some of these chemicals can cause issues, you know irritations and and even uh, You know like a breakout like an allergic reaction So you gotta be careful sometimes about what you put on but again, there's nothing sinful about these things in of themselves Okay verse number seven He says thou art all fair my love there is no spot in thee Now, is that true? Like he goes you're so perfect There's no spot like no wrinkle Like no stretch mark like you're just like perfect. Of course, like everyone's got some defects All right, but this is his heart toward his wife She's beautiful You know, she's had 11 kids But I still find her beautiful You know no spot in thee And of course as we've gone been going through the song of solomon. We also sometimes see parallels with christ Okay, and as soon as we see the fact that he says there is no spot in thee that should bring to remembrance that as a church We should be a church without spots. Okay, please keep your finger then go to ephesians chapter five ephesians chapter five and Whoever gave me the water. Thank you. Can't remember who it was It was jesus amen ephesians chapter five and verse number 25, please Ephesians 5 25 you guys know these passages ephesians 5 25 It says husbands husbands love your wives Hey, that's what i'm trying to instruct you tonight how to love your wife Give her compliments have your eyes upon her and her alone And wives i'm trying to give you some advice of how to be more lovable All right. Hey be nice be you know, put on your best Fix yourself up a little bit, you know for your husband so that he can be attracted more so Okay, like I said there are so many ladies getting fixed doing their hair spending hundreds of dollars To look nice at the workplace Look if you're going to spend that money look nice for your husband Okay, that's how god's created us to be to enjoy one another to appreciate each other husbands love your wives Even as christ also loved the church and gave himself for it Look at this that he might sanctify and cleanse it by the washing of water by the word That he might present it to himself a glorious church. Look at this not having spots Or wrinkle or any such thing But that it should be holy and without blemish So obviously when we read about this Not having spot or wrinkle, you know, we're talking about a church that is growing Okay, we all know we're sinners we all know we're never going to get to a point of sinless perfection Okay, but we should be a church that preaches the truth. Okay again What is it that's going to cause the church to be without spots? Well, we saw then verse number 26 that he might sanctify and cleanse it with a washing of water by the word You see in a church the word of god must be preached It's like water that cleanses us Okay, that makes us more righteous that makes us more like jesus that encourage us to overcome and have victory in our over sin That we can be more christ-like That's what a church ought to be a church without spot without wrinkle Okay, so the doctrine is important preaching god's word is important in a church But I would also say men because again christ is comparing himself to husbands that love your wives even as christ Also loved the church and gave himself for it. So we know that christ loved the church meaning. Yeah, he gave himself He gave his life Right. He was our sacrifice But we also learn there that he gives us his word by which the church can be cleansed And so what i'm saying husbands is that your responsibility is to be the spiritual leader in your house You ought to open god's word before your wife and before your children and teach them god's truth Okay, it's your responsibility husbands to be the spiritual leader as well in your house All right. So again, we can see the parallels there where solomon sees his wife There is no spot in thee Yeah, that is what we're trying to aim to be for jesus christ for this church to be without spot without wrinkle Please go to another passage in the new testament. Please go to second corinthians chapter 11 second corinthians chapter 11 and verse number one So Second corinthians 11 verse number one So these are the words of paul to the church he says Would to god You could bear with me a little in my folly He says to his church. Look, can you just put up a little bit with my foolishness in my folly? Now is paul actually foolish Of course not okay, he's an apostle of god trying to give guidance to this church, but the church Thinks that paul has been a little foolish Okay, so he says look church. Can you put it put up with me? He's been sarcastic He's like, can you put up with my foolishness with my folly? Okay, then he says this Uh, he says and indeed bear with me, please put up with what i'm teaching you bear with me Okay, give me space give me time to teach the church All right, now what is this folly That he's asking the church to put up with Verse number two he goes for I am jealous of you with godly jealousy For I have espoused you to one husband that I may present you a chaste virgin to christ So brethren as the pastor of this church I have jealousy of this church Like as much as I want another man To be the deacon and to be the pastor and to take one day this church off my hands You know until that happens i'm very jealous about this church You know, I want this church to be a chaste virgin for jesus christ as it would again chaste without spot without wrinkle I want us to be right on doctrine Okay, and look sometimes I might desire to be so right, you know, I might be so passionate about what is wrong That I might come across as foolish towards you Say what is that foolishness? Let's keep going there verse number three But I fear lest by any means as the serpent begot e through his subtlety So your mind should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in christ For if he that cometh preacheth another jesus Whom we have not preached or if you receive another spirit which you have not received or another gospel Which you have not accepted you might bear with him. You might sorry you might well bear with him See paul goes look within your church. You got people that believe another jesus You got people in your church that believe another gospel. You have people in your church that have another spirit And paul is trying to call this out He's trying to clean the church with a with a messed up doctrines that the church has And because he's so passionate and so jealous for the truth People within the church are thinking you're a bit foolish paul But here's the thing it's so important if we're going to be a church without spot or wrinkle that we remain true To the jesus of the bible the son of god god manifests in the flesh It gives me no joy that I had to break fellowship with my sinning church it gives me no joy brethren Like i'm not like woohoo. Yeah, I broke fellowship. Praise god But listen my sinning church started to teach another jesus you guys know about it oneness Do you guys know about it oneness? This is another jesus We have to break fellowship of this I can't be associated with that kind of teaching all right another gospel You know, why is it that we so are so passionate about the gospel That we can say hey this pastor of that church of that independent fundamental baptist church That is commonly received by many of brethren how we can just have the voters say, you know what? I don't believe that pastor is even saved And some people look at that and go you're foolish that's foolishness, why would you even say that The past has been there for 15 years the people love him They got friends in this church in that church. He's friends with some of he's got some friends that you're friends with How is it? For some people they think it's foolishness But brethren if i'm going to be a pastor who's jealous he wants a church that's chased a chase version for jesus Then we also have to battle another gospel Listen a pastor that says you have to repent of your sins You have to turn from sins That you have to give up alcohol to be saved or you have to give up sleeping with your girlfriend to be saved That is another gospel The gospel is faith alone on christ alone by grace alone by faith alone on christ alone It is christ's works that saved us And our faith and trust on the death the burial of the resurrection of jesus christ on his shed blood. That is the gospel Anyone's saying but you also have to Do this this this this this that is another gospel And I don't care if I come across foolish To say some experienced pastor is not even saved Listen, that is how paul was as he was preaching to the corinthian church So as king solomon says to his wife there is no spot in thee You know what? I want the same for blessed or baptist church as long as i'm the pastor of this church You know what and when we one day ordain a pastor for this church And I hope you know pray about that brethren. Please be praying about that You know my heart would be that I would find a man who would also be jealous for the church The same amount of jealousy the same love the same passion that I have in my heart for this church Because it's not just the church. It's what we're presenting to jesus Right here. Jesus. He's blessed about this church. It's all spots wrinkles another jesus another gospel I don't want to present that to jesus I don't care about having a hundred member 500 member church I'd rather have a 10-member church that is without spot without wrinkle Okay So anyway, as I said song of solomon, I know we're going a little bit Off there, but you can see how we can take these truths these principles and apply to other areas And associated with jesus christ back to song of solomon chapter four back to song of solomon chapter four verse number eight It says Come with me from lebanon my spouse So obviously they're from israel, but they're in lebanon. Okay, my spouse, uh with me from lebanon look from the top of uh, Amana from the top of shina in hermon So these must be mountains from the lions dens from the mountains of the leopards. So what is that about? Uh, keep your finger then go to first king chapter seven go to first kings chapter seven Why is he speaking about lebanon? First kings chapter seven verse number one first kings chapter seven verse number one It says in first kings chapter seven verse number one, but solomon was building his own house 13 years And he finished all his house. So obviously he's built his palace. He's built his house in jerusalem But then it says in verse number two, he built also the house Of the forest of lebanon The length thereof was an hundred cubits and the breadth thereof 50 cubits and the height thereof 30 cubits Upon four rows of cedar pillars with cedar beams upon the pillars so solomon had a holiday house in lebanon like in the forest in the You know like a regional area, you know, he's out there holiday house in in lebanon And so of course, he's taking his wife to the holiday house and that's why they're there. Okay So what's the next thing that we learn? Husbands again, take your wives out Okay, and I really preach about taking her out on a date And look if you have the wealth of solomon, there's nothing sinful. We've purchased in a holiday house Okay, like I recommend you guys. I don't mind if you guys want to live in sydney work in sydney I highly recommend get a holiday house on the sunshine coast I want to see you more. All right, so you can come up there You can stay a few weeks in the house and do it There's nothing like i'm not saying do it But you know again, there's nothing sinful with just having a nice place to go to like my parents have a house in chile Okay, so when they travel to chile they don't have to be a burden to other people they can stay in their own house Okay, my dad takes his wife and that's that's the right thing to do. All right now take your wife out Hey take it to another country if you can, you know, go out enjoy life go and explore You know spend time together And look, it's not easy for me You know again, i'd love to have my wife here in sydney every time I travel the kids But it's just too much for us That's why like i'm here and i'm going through Like i'm not planning to hang around because I want to be with my wife. But you know when time allows Uh, you know, I want to take my wife out, you know one day I hope that you know, I can take my wife out to to go to portugal where you know Where her ethnicity is from and I hope one day to be able to do things like that where? We can explore and just enjoy each other's company. And again, there's nothing sinful with that in of itself but again if we want to take a Spiritual truth here. We need to remember that this earth is not our home Okay. Hey, we've got a holiday house. Jesus Christ is building it right now Okay, many mansions in my father's house or many mansions. I'll take a spiritual truth. I can't wait Okay Jesus Christ is looking forward to the time that he can take us to be with him in heaven And to present those houses those mansions to us on high So don't worry brethren if you can't afford the holiday house, you can't afford to travel the world Don't worry take the spiritual lesson. Okay, you're going to travel the world. Don't worry in the millennium You'll be traveling the world. Don't worry about it. You'll see it all Okay, you'll see all of all of europe all of asia You'll you'll experience all of that those great things during the millennium and then you'll also have authority over certain cities and towns and places All right verse number nine He says thou has ravished my heart My sister my spouse where we get the title for the sermon thou has ravished my heart with one of thine eyes With one chain of thy neck you guys just one of your eyes. I'm just like ravished. I'm so in love with you And you know again, this is a book of romance So men take this on board You know compliment your wife All right, tell her she's beautiful This is okay. We don't want to be heroes of god's word. We're only doers also Okay, so When you get home Okay, or I mean if your wife is here, then she's expecting that already Okay, tell her how beautiful she is All right. Tell her this week what you appreciate about her Okay. Now he says that um, you know, she's her sister his spouse now just very quickly Please go to leviticus chapter 18 go to leviticus chapter 18 and verse number nine Now leviticus chapter 18 is a very tough chapter. It's probably one of the I think it's probably the toughest chapter You know, i'm not really looking forward to preaching through leviticus 18. Okay, because it's um You know, it's basically there's a warning about who you can have an intimate relationship with Okay again, it ought to be your wife and you know, you're there are certain boundaries obviously Uh, and again when he refers to this his wife as his sister I don't want you to walk in a way to think that he actually married his sister Or even a half sister or anything like that because it says in leviticus 18 verse number nine It says the nakedness of thy sister the daughter of thy father or daughter of thy mother Whether she be born at home or born abroad even then nakedness thou shalt not uncover What i'm trying to say to you brethren Even though when adam and eve were first created and obviously the first generation had to marry their sisters Okay, by the time that god implements the laws of moses Your sister is out of bounds. Okay, that is that is wrong I think normally the average person is not going to be attracted to the sister anyway Okay, you know normally a man is going you know A brother is going to even be protective about his sister about who she chooses to marry one day Obviously, but I want to show you that you know, that is definitely against the law of god. Okay, marrying your sister That's wrong. You know, it can cause all kind of genetic problems as well for your children Okay, so that's not obviously the sister That he's referring to as he's as we learn about this in the book of song of solomon If you can please turn with me to matthew chapter 12 Matthew chapter 12 and verse number 46 Turn with me to matthew chapter 12 And verse number 46 and we have this time this time when jesus christ is preaching To the jews and and his family turns up his mother his brothers and his sisters turn up It says in matthew chapter 12 verse 46 While he yet talked to the people behold his mother and his brethren stood without desiring to speak with him And once said unto him behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without desiring to speak with thee But he answered and said unto him that told him who is my mother and who are my brethren And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples and said behold my mother and my brethren That's my 50 for whosoever shall do the will of my father which is in heaven the same is my brother and sister and mother Okay, so when we look at those that are saved those that are in christ jesus when we look around this church You're my brother. You're my sister Okay, we're brethren. We're in christ. Jesus Amen, this is of course what jesus christ taught us. We're part of one family Like what is it about a family that keeps you know, what is it that a family has? in common Obviously, it's it's the blood it's the blood right and of course when it comes to the family of god What do we have in common the blood the blood of jesus christ? Okay, that's why we're brothers and sisters in the lord So we use this title sometimes sister so and so brother so and so so what do we learn from this? You know if solomon says she's my sister. She's obviously not his physical sister She's a saved woman Okay, he married a saved woman Okay, obviously the next lesson that we learn here is that if when you decide to get married the person that you choose Must be saved That's what god expects Please don't marry a non-believer Unless you want problems in your life and no one wants problems It's going to cause hardships hurts. You're not going to be on the same page People have made these mistakes in the past and those that have made the mistakes. They'll also tell you look just find be patient Find someone that is saved Find someone not only that loves you but also loves jesus Find that person Okay, I mean that is the only condition of marriage really Okay, god does not say okay find a blonde You know or if you're white, you can't marry a dark person like some pastors preach believe it or not Okay, it's true. That's not god's conditions. Okay. Now paul was never a pastor for a church Because in order to be a pastor, you must be the husband of one wife Okay, paul was an apostle, but he was not a pastor. He would have named pastors to take over the churches that he started All right, but he says this in First corinthians chapter nine verse number five. He says have we not power to lead about a sister a wife as well as other apostles And as the brethren of the lord and cephas now he's talking about himself and barnabas barnabas was not married either Okay, they were both single men. Okay, I guess eunuchs for the kingdom of god But he goes look we have the power to get married. This was talking about being provided by the church Because look if we're working and laboring the church we deserve to be fed taking care of our needs being met We ought to have the ability to have a wife and have a family Look at look out for ourselves just like the other apostles just like cephas You know cephas was peter, of course Which completely destroys the teaching of the catholic church that the popes are to remain unmarried and they say peter was the first pope Well cephas had a wife peter had a wife. Okay, and he's been provided by the church Okay, he was laboring the church. He was a full-time worker in the church Please go same, uh, same book chapter number seven first corinthians chapter number seven, please verse number 39 first corinthians chapter 7 verse number 39 The bible says the wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth Okay, so god expects marriage till death do us part once your spouse is passed on Then you're no longer under that law. Okay, it says but but if her husband be dead She is at liberty to be married to whom she will only in the lord Whoever she wills anyone you want to marry a tall man a normal-sized man a short man a man with Dark hair a man with blonde hair a man with a long nose or a short nose A man who's got a full set of teeth or missing some teeth. All right Make sure she's in the lord or make sure he's in the lord. Amen. Make sure he's saved That's the only condition Anyone you will just make sure the person is saved That's that's it You know if you at least have the honor of being married to a safe person. Praise god Okay, you've got exactly you've done exactly what god's commanded from you rejoice rejoice in your spouse Can you please go to second corinthians chapter six? second corinthians chapter six verse number 14 Second corinthians chapter six and verse number 14 Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers I mean what greater yoke is there than marriage? I mean marriage is one flesh You're one Even if your spouse is unsaved you're still one flesh God honors marriage Okay, but the instruction was that you should not have married that person Okay, and for those that are single you need to make sure that you don't yoke yourself with unbelievers God continues for what fellowship have righteousness with unrighteousness What communion have light with darkness? That's how your marriage is going to be it's going to be so So much conflict as different as the light is from the darkness is how your marriage will be if you marry an unbeliever Verse number 15 and what concord that word con con in spanish con with Cord Okay been tied together Okay, what concord have christ with belial or what part have he that believeth with infidel infidel is an unbeliever And what agreement have the temple of god with idols? For ye are the temple of the living god as god have said I will dwell in them and walk in them And I will be their god and they shall be my people Your body is the temple of god it belongs to god he's purchased you with his with the blood of jesus christ Okay, your body belongs to god. God says look just marry a believer One flesh, you know, god wants to be here the god, you know, I shall be their god and they shall be my people But how can god say that if your spouse is unsaved? people plural You know, you can see that you know, this is this is a conflict of interest And again, you know people have made this mistake i'm sad, you know, i'm praying for you You know, I understand and look, you know when I preach something and it makes people feel uncomfortable You know, please don't think that i'm attacking you if you've made mistakes I'm teaching people that have not made those mistakes Okay, and if someone has made those mistakes Really what you should do is come alongside and say, you know what the past is right You know don't make the same mistakes that i've made, you know, do what god instructs from you from the word of god Okay, so again, you know anytime we preach If it slaps your face steps on your toes makes you feel uncomfortable Again, i'm not attacking those that made the mistakes in the past Which is you know, ideally I don't want our children. I want the young people to make the same mistakes So if you made the mistakes you come alongside and help me and reinforce the truths of god's word Says, you know what past is right. I've made the mistakes i'm suffering. Praise god, you know, there is no marriage in heaven So when when I pass on and my wife passes on we're not going to be married in heaven But I still can't wait to see her Like because she's my sister Okay, spiritually speaking, you know, yeah, i'm not going to have that relationship, you know on the earth But we're going to be working eternally serving god forever, you know in those new resurrected bodies I praise god. I can't wait. I can't wait to see you know, I can't wait for the future Can't wait for eternity He goes how fair is I love my sister my spouse How much better is thy love than wine? And the smell of thine ointments than all spices Thy lips of my oh my spouse drop as the honeycomb So what are you doing? He now uses the illustration of a garden to describe his wife He says a garden enclosed is my sister my spouse So she's like this garden that's fenced up. It's enclosed. It's like a gate you can't get in Okay, like it's she's a beautiful garden, right? He's been complimenting her right? I mean think about just a beautiful garden You know nice fruit trees nice flowers. I mean, it's just just uh, you know, it's just one of the most beautiful places But it's closed up. It's enclosed Just for him Okay, a garden closes my sister my spouse a spring shut up a fountain sealed So there's even a spring of water Please shut up. Nobody has access to it Just him. All right Exactly Verse number 13. He now speaks about the the garden again referring to his wife And I don't know exactly what he's referring to in all these passages all these verses here Okay, but anyway he goes thy plants are an orchid of pomegranates with pleasant fruits campfire and spicenard spicenard and saffron Calamus and cinnamon I mean, I like cinnamon doughnuts, but Calamus and cinnamon We've all trees of frankincense myrrh and aloes We've all the chief spices A fountain of gardens notice the next words a well of living waters and streams from lebanon So I guess they're still in lebanon Like man, you know, he's saying you're such this wonderful garden all these great qualities about you All right an enclosed garden no access to anybody except me, right? But I love how he says in verse number 15 a fountain of gardens A well of living waters and that should immediately You know in our minds bring us to the new testament the words of jesus I would just quickly read to you. John chapter 7 verse number 37. John 7 37 says In the last day that great day of the feast Jesus stood and cried saying if any man thirst let him come unto me and drink He that believe believeth on me as the scripture have said out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water That rivers of living water that flows out of the man, of course is the holy spirit salvation given to us by christ jesus So when he says about his wife you've got a fountain of living waters again, what is that reinforcing? That she's saved my sister my spouse Okay, so not only does he enjoy her appearance and what she says But he loves the fact that she's saved We have this common ground I can go to that garden and drink of those fountains Meaning they speak about the bible they speak about the lord They can fellowship in the lord together They can sing praises together. They can come to church together. He enjoys that part of his spouse So these things are important brethren Please don't think that it's all about appearance and i'll just marry someone i'm physically attracted to Hey, the appearance will wear off you gotta find more than just the physical appearance Okay The wisdom that you find within your wife the conversations you can have the fellowship that you can have the conversations that you can have About god's word, you know, she's a fountain of living waters. She's able to give the gospel and see people saved as well All right So that's the kind of wife you ought to be looking for And ladies if you are a wife, this is the kind of wife you ought to be aiming to be as well Okay Or husband if you're a husband You'd be the husband that the bible speaks of and wives you try to be the the woman that is being complemented by the man And now we get to verse number 16, which is finally the words of the wife Okay, she responds to this thought about being a garden. She says awake o north wind So she's thinking about her husband as a north wind and come thou south Blow upon my garden that the spices thereof may flow out Let my beloved come into his garden and eat his pleasant fruits Yeah, you know what this garden that is closed up It's for her husband alone Okay, i've already preached on this wives you belong to your husbands and husbands you belong to your wives and that's it You're an enclosed garden Okay, not to be offered to anybody else Let's end on proverbs chapter five. Let's go to proverbs chapter five verse number 15 Proverbs chapter five and verse number 15 And brother bret you already kind of led us here earlier but proverbs chapter five verse number 15 The bible says Drink waters out of thine own cistern and run in waters out of thine own well This is speaking about a wife Men, enjoy your wife your own cistern your own running waters Okay, you ought to have that that ought to be the goal one day for a man to get married Okay, but it's your own cistern Okay belongs to you your wife belongs to you Verse number 16 let thy fountains be dispersed abroad and rivers of waters in the streets Let them be only thine own Look and not the strangers with thee This is real love This is the love of the bible Okay, you are for your spouse alone Okay, your wife is not to be shared around Okay, your wife is not to look beautiful for other men Or anything like that Or, you know, you get married to a woman and you treat it like oh, she's my trophy wife You know, I want everyone to be envious and jealous about the kind of wife that I have that's foolishness Your wife is ought to be ought to be for you and you alone And Again ladies we saw earlier You know without being too Well, just say it, you know, he was fine certain things You know certain parts of her appearance to be beautiful and he mentions her breasts Okay. Now look she's a enclosed garden Okay, ladies be careful how you dress Okay, especially when you come to the house of God make sure that you dress modestly Make sure there are certain parts of your body that are covered Definitely your breasts definitely your thighs Okay, these things are important to be covered, you know, you don't want to accidentally, you know Bend down low and you know other men see it Say should you be preaching this to the pastor? I don't care. Okay, this is we see that you are for your husband alone You know and men if someone come a woman comes to the church and she's not you know There are certain things about her, you know, you just you need to Turn turn your eyes away from that. No, don't tell her leave that to the pastor All right, i'll talk to her husband about that Or her father or whoever that situation is But you know ladies you've got to look at yourself as an enclosed garden Okay only for my husband to look upon Okay Let's keep going there verse number 18 proverbs 5 18. It says let thy fountain be blessed And rejoice with the wife of thy youth just in case you didn't think it was about a wife Okay your wife of your youth Verse number 19 let it be as a loving hind and pleasant row Let her breast satisfy thee at all times and be thou ravished always with her love Look at verse number 20 and why wilt thou my son be ravished with a strange woman and embrace the bosom of a stranger So men, why? Why would you look upon a strange woman? What would you desire to be with someone else? Men, be careful about what's on your computer Be careful about what's on your phone be careful what you look upon on the internet It's so easy It's so easy All right, if you've got a computer in the house Make sure it's somewhere somewhere where it's not hidden in some corner in some man cave Okay, make sure it's somewhere where it's easily accessible easily visible to your wife I don't believe you know I want my wife to be able to look at my phone if she wants to any chats any conversations Any browsing history i'm happy for my wife to look at? I don't want anything. I don't want any secrets like that because it's too dangerous in this day and age There's a time that you have to actually spend money and go to a news agency To look upon certain things and now it's just freely available just at home You know by the click of a few buttons Why men will you be ravished with a strange woman? No, god has given you or if you if you're if you're married, okay, men I mean this should apply to anybody but men that are married. Okay, you be satisfied with the wife of your youth Your eyes should be upon her and her alone. She's in closed garden And ladies again You know, please don't take this the wrong way But help your husbands You know look beautiful for your husbands. Don't look beautiful for your employer Okay Again, don't think i'm getting dressed up to my boss. Can you know I can look presentable at work look presentable for your husbands Help your husband help them out in this area Okay Understand That your husband is naturally attracted to a woman Okay But he wants to be attracted to his wife and wife alone you help out in that area as well Okay, we can all contribute we can all help each other, you know, we can all appreciate one another we can support each other Again, there's a reason why when I come to sydney I'm in as soon as I can earliest flight that I can be here for service and the earliest flight out I think i've got to wake up 4 a.m. Tomorrow to catch my next flight.
