Uh, so this coming sunday, we're gonna have normal church services And with the soul winning time on um on uh the afternoon there, uh I'm going to open this up to the ladies. Sometimes we do this where um The husbands will take care of the kids if you want to go out Um, or if you want to try to do some family soul winning there. Um, so, um Again, we'll probably still have men going out either way Um, but I always kind of try to open that up, especially we have a lot of mothers I have a lot of kids and it's just not practical to get out unless Uh, the husband is watching the kids. So, um, i'm opening that up If you want to uh this sunday, uh to let the ladies, uh, get out there on our soul winning time there and That leads obviously we have the regional sewing times But at the same time we have the the the sewing marathon that we're gonna be doing this saturday. So, um Let me check in the weather, but I I think this is the way we're gonna do it. We're gonna get down there We're gonna try to get down to the panera around 9 30 and uh Have a good breakfast Um, and then what what i'm planning on doing is we're just gonna get out We have these areas these big areas for trailer parks and we have like pretty much an area for every group probably Um is we'll probably just go out there and do a big push So instead of like trying to break it up with a two hour two hour and have lunch in between um instead of like Getting out there and only going out for an hour because now it's lunch time And then we're all racing back trying to get to lunch and all that. We're just going to do a bigger push um, so if you're bringing kids, you're going to want to have snacks and stuff like that or you know, obviously However, you want to deal with that. Um but uh Then we'll have basically we'll just cap it off with uh Lunch slash dinner. I guess it'll be kind of an in-between meal But uh, but then we'll just kind of have a big push on that So, um, I think that's the way we're going to do it. It just seems like that morning session is always rushed And we don't get in much time and just Just to be honest. Most people are going to be up later on as it is anyway So i'd rather just maybe take our time in the morning get there eat And uh, and then when we get out to the place we can kind of stay there for the long haul and try to get it done, so um That's the plan We're going to try it out and see how it works out. Sometimes they're just trial and error and see how it works. Um, so, um, Our chapter memory for the month is psalm 16. And so, uh, Keep working on that and then matthew seven and verse six is our memory verse for the week Um, and then the other things on the events there is the fireworks um And so just to note this this year because there's a big barn in the way um we're gonna have to have people parking kind of like further away and maybe Giving trips to the house or if you want to walk that's fine, too, but um, there's not gonna be a lot of parking available Right up against the house so Yeah, so I just want to kind of tell you that you're cognizant of that that we may be saying hey park back here We'll give you a ride Up to the house and then we'll give you a ride back to your your vehicle after that So, um just so that it's not like a whole bunch of cars and then there's nowhere to sit There's nowhere to actually view the fireworks when we're uh doing it. So, um But everybody's welcome. Uh That's a barcher That is out there in youtube land. I'm not necessarily saying that for you, but uh I don't know you uh, no, but uh So, uh, we'll uh text out the address, uh for that, um, and then um Pregnancy's we don't have it on the list yet, but we're adding another one. So miss joyce is going to be on the list too. And so um so I don't know if I was supposed to say that until sunday, but uh Actually, it seems like everybody knew on last sunday and then holly told me today and then like I texted brother anthony I'm like put uh, miss joyce on the list. He's like, yeah, I knew that last sunday i'm like well Sounds about right, you know As far as when I get that information, but uh, congratulations on that and obviously we'll be praying for you Um, but also be in prayer for miss catherine miss rachel as we're are in actually miss catherine's past the due date And so, uh, definitely be in prayer for the racine family, um that everything goes well there with the the delivery Baby, you never know that could be What's going on right now? Um, I haven't got a text or anything but uh and By the way anybody that wants to do a spartan race with us at the end of august Uh, you're more than welcome to do it So I just want to put that out there. Um that if you want to if you want to join up brother dave and I and uh Maybe brother matt Maybe brother, uh, brother anthony, uh, but it's a 21k So that's like 12 and a half miles with obstacles. So, um You might not have a pastor or a deacon after that day so Well, i'll say this that's sunday we're going to be doing on a saturday that's sunday We might be dragging a little bit. So, um, but uh, but anyway just want to open that up You know if you guys want to join us for that That's going to be at the end of august so That is not really a church event i'm Just saying that as a friend and if you want to join that if you think we're nuts and you don't want anything to do with it by all means You don't have to do that with us. Um But besides that the offering box is in the back there, uh, mother baby rooms for the mothers and babies only Um, that's all I got for announcements. Uh, brother joseph's gonna be reading exodus chapter 22 for us after or After yeah after brother dave sings the song So All right, take your song books and turn to song 145 Song 145 we'll sing it is well with my soul song 145 When peace like a river Ever attendeth my way When sorrows like sea bellows roll Whatever my lot thou hast taught me to say It is well It is well with my soul It is well With my soul It is well it is well with my soul though satan should Buffet though trial should come Come Let this blessed assurance Control That christ has regarded My helpless estate And hath shed his own blood for my soul It is well It is well With my soul It is well It is well with my soul My sin Oh the bliss of this glorious thought My sin not in part but the whole Is nailed to the cross and I bear it No more Praise the lord. Shall you make restitution? If a fire break out catch and thorns so that the stacks of corn or the standing corn or the field be consumed therewith He that candle with the fire shall surely make restitution If a man shall deliver unto his neighbor Money or stuff to keep and it be stolen out of the man's house If the thief be found let him pay double And the thief be be not found then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbor's goods For all manner of trespass whether it be for ox for ass for sheep for raiment or for any manner of lost thing which another challenges to be hit be his The cause of both parties shall come before the judges and whom the judges shall condemn he shall pay double unto his neighbor If a man deliver unto his neighbor an ass or an ox or a sheep or any beast to keep it it and it die Or be heard or driven away. No man seeing it then shall an oath of the lord be between them both That he hath not put his hand unto his neighbor's goods and the owner of it shall accept thereof And shall not make it good And if it be stolen from him He shall make restitution unto the owner thereof And if it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for wit for witness and he shall not make good that which was torn And if a man borrow out of his neighbor and it be hurt or die the owner thereof being not with it He shall surely make it good but if the owner thereof Be with it he shall not make it good if it be in hired thing It came for his hire And if man entice a maid That is that is not betrothed and lie with her. He shall surely endow her to be his wife If her father utterly refused to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins Thou shall not suffer a witch to live whosoever lieth with a beast shall Surely be put to death He that sacrifice sacrifices Unto any god save unto lord only he shall utterly destroyed He shall be utterly destroyed Thou shalt neither vex a stranger nor oppress him For you are strangers in the land of egypt. You shall not afflict any widow or father to this child If thou afflict them in any wise and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry And My wrath shall wax hot and I will kill you with the sword and your wives shall be widows and your children fatherless If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee thou shalt not be To him as an usher neither shalt thou lay upon him usury If thou at all take thy neighbor's raiment to pledge thou shalt deliver it unto him By that the sun goeth down For that it is his covering only It is his raiment for his skin Wherein shall he sleep and it shall come to pass when he crieth unto me that I will hear for I am gracious Thou shalt not revile the gods nor curse the ruler of thy people Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits and of thy liquors The firstborn of thy sons thou shalt give unto me Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen and with thy sheep Seven days it shall be with with his dam on the eighth day. Thou shall give it to me And ye shall be holy men unto me Neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs. Let's pray Lord father, thank you for your pure and holy word. You've given to us lord. I thank you for this study through exodus Lord I ask you to be a pastor robinson and edify us this evening in jesus name. Amen Amen We definitely have a lot of young kids in our church I was just noticing like when uh, You know from the singing to like when the preaching starts like the kids like wailing mother takes them out kids wailing so um truly we have a lot of children that are usually in the mothers that are in the the mother baby room, but Um, but it's a good thing, obviously So exodus chapter 22 we are continuing our study through the book of exodus And I would if I was going to put a label on this chapter, it'd be restitution Dealing with restitution. Uh, this is dealing with someone stealing something or something getting messed up by someone else Basically, you're getting back if someone wrongs you or does something with your goods and stuff like that Then there's restitution. It's not just dealing with With that there's other things in this chapter as well But look at verse one here Uh, we're gonna deal with someone stealing, uh an ox or a sheep. It says in verse one It says if a man's shall steal an ox or a sheep and kill it Or sell it. He shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep For a sheep. Okay. So here what happens is and a lot of these are self-explanatory. Okay, so i'm gonna i'm gonna Read it in a lot of cases. I'm just gonna tell you this is exactly what's saying that if someone steals an ox or a sheep depending on the animal If they kill it, right meaning that you're not getting that sheep or that ox back They gotta pay pay back five oxen for one ox and four sheep for one sheep so, I mean that's You're not just getting back like if someone stole something from you You don't just get back the same amount you get back in a lot of cases at least double but in some cases it's it's like four or five More than what you had to begin with So, uh, this is biblical and this is something this is a principle that should be applied today You think of people stealing and listen stealing you say is that a big sin? Well, obviously the bible says thou shall not steal, but I don't know about you but if you've ever had something stolen from you, there's a there's a Feeling of violation that happens when someone steals from from you and it's not even the fact that it's something, uh, You know precious to you I remember one time like I came back from class and my my jeep wrangler The locks once you lock it you couldn't get back in So I always kept my doors unlocked and I just remember coming back from class and like someone had opened my door The door was wide open and they just rummaged through all my stuff And I didn't have anything in there So like they didn't have anything to take um, there was some like burnt cds now kids burnt cds are when you used to Uh put music on a cd and you could put all kinds of different songs anyway Uh, you don't really burn it with fire I don't know why they said you burn it but anyway, all I say is all I had was like burnt cds, you know from like music and it wasn't like great music but Anyway, all I have to say is that you still feel violated. You're like someone was in my stuff. They're in my vehicle You know and that there's a feeling of violation. So stealing is a very it's a major sin Uh theft, uh, and the bible's dealing here that someone steals from you And they destroy whatever they stole then they're paying back more than double in a lot of cases Uh notice what it says here and uh verse Uh, well look at verse four and i'm going to get to verse two and three But in verse four here, what if what if they give you back? What if the ox is alive, right? What if the sheep is alive? Well notice what it says here in verse four. It says if the theft be certainly found in his in his hand alive Whether it be ox or ass or sheep he shall restore double So you don't just get the ox back. You don't just get the sheep back you get another one okay so, uh These are righteous laws and i'm not sure why it's five ox to four sheep I didn't i'm not going that deep into this As far as like the symbolism of the ox and the sheep and or why that would be the case It's just what it says and I you know, obviously it's right But look at verse two and three here now, this is a great passage right here for self-defense like a passage that really shows That we have the right to defend ourselves even with lethal force Okay that the bible basically says we're innocent now look what it says here in verse two if a thief be found breaking up And be smitten that he die there shall no blood be shed for him Basically, someone's stealing something from you and you end up killing them in the process Then You're innocent meaning like you're not accountable for that You're not going to be you know in danger of the death penalty for that. That means that that's a justified killing Okay, but notice what it says here in verse three if the son be risen upon him There shall be blood shed for him. So notice that when it's stating that It's okay. If that happens It's at night. So for example, we're talking about stealing, right? So obviously someone's trying to hurt your family I don't care if it's day or night, okay then You know lethal force is is uh is obviously uh fine, okay but We're talking about someone stealing something from you So if someone's like stealing something like let's say I found that person in in my jeep You know when I got back from class when I was in college, I don't just pull out my 45 and blow his head off Okay, that's not justifiable Okay Does that make sense or if they were like stealing something from my garage? And it's like daylight outside and I know they're just trying to steal something and they're not trying to hurt me but here's the thing When it comes to that if I if I find somebody and they start coming at me at that point, that's a different story Okay, but we're talking about someone just trying to steal something They're like running off with something and i'm like gunning them down You know Like that's not justifiable Okay, I understand that maybe you want to do that but the bible I believe is teaching here that obviously if it's if it's What I believe is stating here is that when it's dark, you don't know what their intentions are You don't know what's going on. You don't know what they're even trying to do at that point. It doesn't matter like they could be uh You know Breaking up You know, who knows what they're even doing they just broke into your house And some people have gotten off you know got people gotten in trouble for using, you know, uh lethal force on somebody because Because they lived and they said oh I was drunk and I went into the wrong house This is why you don't leave survivors when that happens And you think i'm joking on that but that is something that's really a true statement that people have literally been prosecuted Because someone broke into their house and then they lie and say oh I was drunk and I stumbled into the wrong house And here's the thing the bible teaches if someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night And you kill them clean Okay Obviously, we're not out there trying to find somebody. This is someone coming into your home You don't know what their intentions are and listen. I have four kids and if someone breaks into my house, they're going to die Okay I don't know what their intentions are. I don't care what their intentions are I don't care if they're just trying to steal tv if they're trying to steal something any They're going down because I have no idea what their intentions are, but i'm going to assume they're going to try to hurt my family I'm taking them out Okay, and the bible validates and actually most states have that as a law like basically it's in like even like local law or state law that basically You know You have the right Now there's some stupid states out there That say you have to meet force with force That means if someone came in to my house and they had a knife And i'm holding my gun. I got to be like, all right, there's got to be a fair fight You got to pick up the knife. We got to go at it I'm, not joking like that's literally The stupid laws on the books in some of these states Like oh, okay, it's got to be a fair fight No You know if someone comes in the house with a baseball bat, I don't care what they can come in the house with nothing Their bare hands and they're coming into my house They're getting lethal force in the middle of the night. Okay Now if someone's trying to break into my house in the middle of the daytime then you know what? Is it really depends on what their actions are once they see me with a gun? You know and and know that i'm going i'm coming after them And if they run away, i'm not going to gun them down Okay now i'm going to call the police obviously and let them deal with it, but Um, but if they start coming at my family, I don't care what time of day it is then they're going down now This is a principle Self-defense or having a weapon that's in the bible luke 22 in verse 36 If you want to turn there luke 22 in verse 36 i'm going to read to you psalm 144 in verse 1 And I did a whole sermon on this years ago called by a sword Okay But in psalm 144 in verse 1 it says blessed be the lord my strength which teaches my hands to war my fingers to fight Now what people will say with this would be like well if you really trust it in the lord If you if the lord was your shield and your buckler then uh, then you don't need a sword. You don't need to fight It's interesting because the next verse says my goodness and my fortress my high tower and my deliverer my shield And he in whom I trust who subdueth my my people under me yet He teaches his hand his hands to war and his fingers to fight So do you see people put up this false like uh I guess uh theory if you will or I don't it's a false argument, right? Is that because you have a weapon because you're fighting physically and you're actually doing it yourself that somehow you're not trusting in the lord What does david say? You know, he's the one saying you teach my my hands to war my fingers to fight And i'm trusting in you and you're my shield and you're my buckler and you're my fortress Because safety's of the lord. So obviously a weapon isn't the end all You know and knowing how to fight isn't the end all of safety, but it's good to have all those, right? It's good to know how to handle yourself in a fight It's good to know how to use a weapon and obviously in today's day and age The gun a gun is going to be your best form of defense. Okay, obviously a knife is better than nothing A sword I guess you could uh, bust out a claymore in the middle of the night And go william wallace on somebody that's coming into your house but To be honest, you know, i'm gonna want i'm gonna i'm gonna have my shotgun with buckshot And nuts to the drywall that i'm gonna have to fix later but There's gonna be no mistake That i'm gonna take that person out obviously i'm gonna make sure I know what i'm pointing at and know what i'm shooting You gotta be intelligent about it. You don't want to have collateral damage I'm, not gonna take a 50 cal to the person because I don't want to like drop my engine in my truck Shooting this person because I went through five walls and then went through my truck You know, like obviously there's there's smart things about this now in uh, luke 22 and verse 36 says then said he unto them But now he that hath a purse let him take it. This is brother richie's favorite verse Here because yep. Yep It's in the bible He that hath a purse let him take it and likewise his script and he that hath no sword Let him sell his garment and buy one. Okay, so You know what the bible is stating here, you know, the bible says that you know having food and raiment be there Uh be there with content It's saying to sell a garment in order to buy a sword Okay, and uh, so I believe that as christians, you know, god is calling us to be armed to protect our you know You think about it. They're going out soul winning And that's particularly what he's talking about here is going out soul winning Now if you don't feel comfortable carrying a gun or you don't feel comfortable with that i'm not telling you to do that Okay, you obviously need to know what you're doing. You need to know uh You have training and you know I don't want someone that just never touched a gun and they start Just carrying it not knowing what they're doing with it. Okay, obviously, it's a deadly weapon that you need to know how to use but Here at mountain baptist church a lot of our men carry a lot of the women carry and You know, I think I think about this too ladies when you think about this this verse here At least at home and especially when when the husband's not home You need to have some form of defense. Okay, whatever that is But a gun obviously is going to be the best form of defense. Um, you know This is something that needs to be there when you have your kids at home and and the dad's out at work Or you know for some reason let's say i'm out of town Right And then it's night time and and you know I'm not going to trust the police to get there on time. Okay I'm not going to trust the police at all, but i'm definitely not going to trust that they're going to get there on time. Anyway Obviously call the police let them deal with it. Ultimately if someone's going to Have to kill this person i'd rather the police be doing it than me Or my wife or anything like that. It's not like I want to do it, but i'll say this You know what picking up picking up a gun that's that's right next to the bed You know, that's going to be a lot faster than however long it takes the police to get there If there actually is a situation there and all i'm saying with that is that the bible teaches here It's interesting people like oh, you know, you know, the bible says thou shall not kill therefore You should never it's never allowed to kill anybody yet. We're in two chapters later and it's saying Yeah, you're okay If someone breaks into your house in the night and they're trying to steal something Then and you end up killing them then you're innocent Okay, so You know just something good to know When it comes to that and obviously we have laws on the books here in west virginia and just other states as well That validate that and go along with that type of thinking as well. So, but some states don't some states you're not even allowed to You know meet force with the idea of meeting force with force is the stupidest thing i've ever heard in my life It just it's just hilarious to me it's like you're in the movies or something like that It's like i'm watching walker texas ranger and the guy's got a knife and then you know He puts his gun away. He's like no i'm gonna roundhouse kick you to the face, you know, like It happens in tv shows it happens in movies But in the end when it comes down to real life Anything can happen in that situation and i'm not taking any chances when it comes to it Okay, now, uh go to exit chapter 22 in verse five exit chapter 22 in verse five We're gonna be getting into some more restitution. So we saw, you know, if someone steals an ox sheet, you know What what happens in those cases, right? But what if someone burns your field down? right so Uh in verse five and and some things you may not relate to be like I don't have a burn I feel the burn, you know, um, but if you do Uh, this would be pertinent especially if you have crops, okay, and someone just burns down your crops Notice what it says in verse five. It says if a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten and shall be in Uh in his beast and shall feed in another man's field Of the best of his own field and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make restitution If fire break out and catch in thorns so that the stacks of corn or the standing corn or the field be consumed there with He that kindled kindled the fire shall surely make restitution Now this could be by accident or on purpose Okay, but basically if your animal if your your beast your cattle whatever goes into someone's vineyard and just starts eating everything I mean then you have to make restitution. I mean, I know brother dave's already had to deal with this some rogue pig That was like Like tearing up his crops eating his chickens like all this stuff, right? This is real life stuff I mean you think of this like oh, you know who's dealing with this? People in our church are dealing with this, you know we're homesteaders or a lot of people are trying to be anyway and uh, But you could look at this and be like hey, you know, the neighbor needs to take rest and pay restitution for that. Okay? But if they burn down your field, I don't I believe this could be on accident or it could be on purpose Now I was burned down our forest the other day because I was trying to like burn some documents or whatever and uh I kind of left it unattended And I peaced out and uh apparently got into the woods it was dry and it was like Anyway, it didn't it didn't burn down anything. It would have been our forest anyway, but still you don't want that to happen. Um But uh, this is something I always think of Joab who here thinks of Joab when you think of a field burning down But this is where Absalom was wanting to basically he comes back into land, but the king doesn't want to see him This is after he kills His brother Amnon Right Kills him and then he goes obviously he's kind of exiled he comes back, but then he Uh, his his dad doesn't want to see him So He's trying to get a hold of Joab Joab won't answer him. So he burns down his field that got his ten jobs like Paraphrasing. It's like why'd you burn my field down? He's like, well, I called you and you didn't come, you know So, I don't know. It's just a funny story to me. It's just like What's you know, it's just kind of like what's up, man? Like why are you burning my field down? He's like you should have answered when I called you anyway So I always think of that story about how how Absalom burns down his field But you know what if the law was followed Absalom should have paid restitution for Joab's field Okay. Now go to uh verse seven Exodus chapter 22 and verse seven Now this is kind of dealing with borrowing stuff So like kind of like you're using your neighbor's stuff and what if something happens with it? A lot of this is kind of just self-explanatory but it's really kind of dealing with like different situations if something Happens when you're borrowing something from your neighbor or whatever or something Let's just read it and you'll see what i'm talking about here now It says in verse seven says if a man shall deliver unto his neighbor money or stuff to keep And it be stolen out of the man's house if the thief be found let him pay double and I put that down now so basically stating here that Your neighbor has it but someone stole it from him But then they find the thief it's like the thief is the one who's going to get have to pay restitution. Okay? The neighbor's not at fault here, you know, it's not it's not put on him at all okay, if not if it was then uh, I wouldn't be taking anything my neighbors because You know someone steals it or whatever But in verse eight here says if the thief be not found Then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbor's goods So basically it's stating like if they can't find the thief then they're going to basically take him to the judge make sure that This guy's not lying to them, you know, like oh someone stole it and it's really he really has it And he's just you know, he's basically trying to steal it himself verse nine says for all manner of trespass whether it be for ox for ass for sheep for raiment or for any manner of lost thing which any and another challenge is to be his the cause of both parties shall Come before the judges And whom the judges shall condemn he shall put double on onto his uh onto his neighbor. Okay, so This is this is basically stating like the judges are going to take care of this And and figure out like and this is where you kind of have diligent inquisition is what the bible says about this They'll bring it to the judges. So what do you have here? You have a judicial system. Okay So god here is giving the law Okay, they didn't have the legislative branch In israel, okay, because god was the legislative branch, right? He's giving the laws right and at this point He's the executive branch right think about our government, right? We have the executive branch the judicial branch and the legislative branch, right? The the judicials the judges, right? The courts the legislative would be the ones that make the laws, right? And then the executive would be the one like the president, you know, the people that are executing it So that'd be like the king so in this case in the in the government of israel before they had a king God was their king and they had judges they had a judicial system that was set up but God was you know, the ultimate Executive branch, but then he would give that power onto certain people to execute judgment And uh just kind of giving you an idea here what we're dealing with here Of how they did things or how they were supposed to do things in israel, okay And this is a great way to see how things are going to how things you want the best government You want the best system use god's system? Okay And notice what it says here in verse 10 So keep reading here It says if a man deliver unto his neighbor an ass or an ox or a sheep or any beast to keep And it die or be hurt or driven away No man seeing it then shall an oath of the lord be between them both that he hath Not put his hand unto his neighbor's goods and the owner of it shall accept thereof and he shall Not make it good. So he's basically like, you know Something happens to it. They just kind of like yeah, we're good It's kind of like this agreement with each other that you know, it's no one's fault Um You know, he's not he doesn't have to repay them or repay him or anything like that verse 12 there it says Uh, and if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof and so in in this case, you know, then You know, basically there is restitution that's being made when it comes to this verse 13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for a witness and he shall not make Make good that which was torn so it's basically an animal eats it or something like that But he's kind of proving it like hey this animal did it verse 14 It says if a man borrow ought of his neighbor and if he hurt or die the owner thereof being not with it He shall surely make it good. But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good if it be an hired thing it Came for his hire. So in the case of borrowing here It's interesting again, i'm not saying like I completely Understand why? Okay, it's basically like if you borrow something the owner's there with you as you're using it And something happens to it. It's hurt or dies or whatever then you don't have to worry about it But if you're not if the owner is not with it and it's hurt or dies and it's borrowed then you have to make restitution. So You know These are just the judgments. These are the laws obviously the right As far as how these are set up, but it's just giving you different situations uh dealing with Basically property right items materials animals and obviously back then that was like their tool they would use animals a lot for their tools, you know when it comes to Uh plowing fields or whatever they were doing there Now go to verse 16. Now now we're getting into some different stuff. So, um I would say this kind of gets into restitution to a certain extent. Okay, but uh, this is a case Of fornication happening Okay And uh notice the verse 16 here So if a man entice a maid That is not betrothed. So it's not a mayor. It's not a it's not a girl that's married and lie with her He shall surely endow her to be his wife now I'm going to show you Deuteronomy as well here And this is where a lot of people that don't like that hate the bible that are trying to constantly say Something the bible is not saying okay Here it says that basically if a man lies basically commits fornication with a girl That's not married or anything like that He's he he is like obligated to marry her now. Okay, but notice in verse 17 If her father utterly refused to give her unto him He shall pay money according to the dowry of urgency. So he's basically like the the the father can say no But you're gonna pay me the dowry And you're not gonna marry her right? So that's the the punishment. He's like you gotta pay it because you've humbled her you've taken away her virginity and You're gonna pay me that dowry But you're not allowed to marry. So this is a case here And i'm just gonna state this as long as my girls are in my house. I have veto power about who they they marry Okay, and you may like that or not You may say oh you're you're you're like from the stone age No, if there's some derelict that my daughter's wanting to marry i'm gonna be like no Okay now obviously hope and hopefully I raise my daughters in a manner where they uh will You know want to find a good godly man to marry and that this isn't going to be an issue Okay, and that they're going to want my approval on top of that, right? Hopefully my daughters will grow up Clara look up here and listen to me And want to You know, please me and want to have my approval when it comes to that Okay, so that's that's obviously the way you want it to be but ultimately If my daughters bring home a derelict i'm i'm gonna get rid of that derelict and be like you're not coming back here You're not talking to my daughter, you know And uh, and here's the thing like for that that happened You know with with growing up in church and and and having a good relationship with your daughters You're just probably not gonna have to deal with that But this is giving you a case where this does happen. Listen in america today fornication is rampant But in the bible days, basically if you commit a fornication, you're obligated to marry that girl Okay Now I I believe that In this case, you're not in in this case. You're not dealing with rape Okay, I want to be very clear on this you're dealing with consensual. They're both consenting to this He enticed her but it doesn't say that he forced her. Okay, go to deuteronomy chapter 22 and that's what people say well, you know, so you're telling me that if you know, The bible says that if someone rapes somebody then that that girl has to marry his rapist her rapist It's like that's not what the bible teaches at all And I think probably part of the reason is because these passages are right next to each other in deuteronomy And they just don't know how to read Or they don't care to really know how to read and how like these stories are different, uh talking about two different cases, okay And they're just they wanted to say what they wanted to say They wanted to say that if someone gets raped and they have to marry their rapist But that's not what the bible says. Actually. It's going to state that the rapist is going to be put to death Okay, which is rightfully so But every word matters when you're dealing with these stories remember it says enticed a maid Okay, this gives you the story you think about dina, right jacob's daughter That was the story that wasn't rape that was that was kind of the same thing where he enticed her And lay with her and then he wanted to marry her, right? He actually wanted to do what was right if you will after he Uh did what was wrong but in deuteronomy 22 verse 25 it says but if a man find a betrothed damsel on the field So this is a this is a different story right because what was the story before it was someone that wasn't betrothed right And the man forced her And lie with her then the man only that lay with her shall die Oh, I thought they were supposed to get married. I thought that's what everybody tells me. Is that no no You know the bible says you got to get married to your rapist Is that what it says or does it say that the rapist dies? Okay, notice what it says here keep reading verse 26 but under the damsel thou shall do nothing There is in the damsel no sin worthy of death For as when a man riseth against his neighbor and slayeth him even so is this matter? You know what's saying is that rape is as if you murdered somebody And that's why it gets the death penalty and it should get a death penalty Knows that that that a rapist should be put to death just as much as the murderer should be put to death Like I said the rapist should be put to death and that that girl That that happened to should be able to go to the grave and spit on his grave whenever she wants That's that's how you get healing like well, how do you heal? You know a person that's been abused by a rapist You murk you you kill not murder you kill You put the death the rapist That that's how you start the healing process my friends That'll start it and Go on from there. Okay, and obviously i'm not saying it's going to completely Heal that person they're going to have they're going to be scarred i'm sure for life But that's why that person's being put to death. Okay now and uh In verse uh verse 27 there where he found her in the field And the betrothed damsel cried and there was none to save her Now When you read earlier in the story, there's a story where there's a betrothed damsel, but she doesn't cry out You know what that is she's not being forced Okay In that case is a different case now you're dealing with adultery And you're dealing with that judgment that that's where she's going to be at fault as well. Okay, and not just the man, okay so in this case she's betrothed, but She's being forced against her will it's not her fault It's only the man that's being put to death. It's very clear. Okay verse 28 here It says if a man find a damsel that is a virgin which is not betrothed now different story Okay Did you see the difference here into how people just put these two together like they're the same story? No, we're dealing with a damsel that's not betrothed compared to the damsel that is betrothed one that was forced and here it says uh Which is not betrothed and lay hold on her and lie with her and they be found now That doesn't say that she was forced. It just said he lay hold on her Now and in the parallel passage of that it says he enticed her You know what? That means is that he lay hold on her and enticed her and she succumbed to it not forced But she was enticed as well. Okay And it says in verse 29 then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father 50 shekels of silver And and she shall be his wife because he had humbled her He made may not put her away all his days so we're not talking about someone that was forced here but notice how exodus hits on this like hey, but The father could say no right the law and here's the thing what this means is that Back then if someone lost it, they lost their virginity if a girl lost their virginity then basically It's gonna be hard for them to get betrothed. It's gonna be hard for them to get married So you're kind of taking away that opportunity for her in this case they're saying you're locked in now You're marrying her. Okay, the father can say i'm not letting her marry that right And uh, we're gonna mix that okay But you do have to pay me the money that you would have paid if you had to get married, right? So Uh makes sense to me. I think that makes a lot of sense. I don't see any problem with any of this Actually, it wouldn't matter if I did see a problem with it. It's god's word but You know, these are passages right here where i'm just like, yep Makes perfect sense to me. It's logical And uh, I agree with it But in the end it doesn't matter if you agree That's what the bible says and you know what these things should be instituted today And you know, we'd have a more righteous nation if they were now go to exodus chapter 22 and verse 18 As we go down through this passage you're going to see kind of like it almost seems random But it's when you get into leviticus and deuteronomy and stuff like that It'll get the same list and I and but there's certain things that are just stated here And verse 18, it says thou shalt not suffer a witch to live Boom period okay Now go to deuteronomy chapter 18 and verse 10 because it doesn't really explain It's just like thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. All right next point And then it goes on okay, which You know, it is what it is And one thing to note note here is that for that to be true There has to be the existence of witches Does that make sense? Like that has to be a real thing or why in the world is that a commandment? Don't suffer a wish to live. Uh, they don't exist. So that's just You'd be turning the bible on its head, right? There'd be no reason for the commandment But look what it says in deuteronomy 18 and verse 10 deuteronomy 18 and verse 10 There shall there shall not be found among you any One that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire. You know what that's talking about? children sacrifice Okay, you're like, oh man that's they do that they do that every day in america it's called abortion And It says or that uses divination or an observer of times or an enchanter or a witch Or a charmer or a consultor with familiar spirits or a wizard or a necromancer For all that do these things are an abomination unto the lord and because of these abominations the lord thy god to drive them out from before thee You say well is that that's Something we should really be concerned with well think about deuteri revelation 21 8 Is the verse that we use all the time out soul winning? Sorcerers are in that list These are real things and what are you dealing with you're not dealing with people talking to dead people Okay, unless they're saints in some cases that does happen in the bible like where samuel like Is brought back to life to talk to saul and all that They're dealing with devils Okay, familiar spirits or unclean spirits or devils what you're dealing with are people that are into Demonry, if you will. I don't know if that's a word, but they're into uh, devil devils and basically Communicating with devils necromancy is basically communicating with the dead if you will That's what they're trying to do But i'll say this when you deal with people that are like this, you know, witches wizards, you know necromancers Charmers or whatever they're demonic Okay And people that think they're talking to their their dead relative. They're talking to some devil That's what they're talking to. Okay And so this stuff the bible's stating is that these people should be put to death That's why the witch at endor remember saul went to the witch at endor And She was extremely afraid when she found out it was saul because they basically that was that was put out from them She could be put to death for that And she knew that and he's like, you know, i'm not gonna put basically he had to like comfort her that he's not gonna do that That that he wants to bring back samuel. Okay. Now in that story, I think she was a little surprised to see samuel. Okay And she saw samuel and I think it was a miraculous event obviously, I believe god allowed that to happen there are cases in the bible where their Saints are brought back from the dead. I think I was talking about it with uh, Uh one family about like at the resurrection of christ It says many of the saints many of the bodies of the saints rose up after the resurrection and went into jerusalem okay so But you'll never see Besides the antichrist, okay an unsaved person coming from hell You know someone coming back from the dead from hell you always see it's always a believer It's like moses and elijah up here before, you know with jesus on the mount of transfiguration It's like samuel's coming back up right you're dealing with people the saints right coming out of the grave after the resurrection You're dealing with saved people Okay, so i'm not saying that can't happen That like someone can but at the same time what these people are dealing with are familiar spirits They peep they mutter right it's like this devil they're being possessed with devils The book of acts deals with this on how they're dealing with unclean spirits and you're dealing with Sorcerers and stuff like that. These people are real You don't believe that it's still going on today Then why does revelation talk about the fact that they don't repent from it from their sorceries, right? That stuff's still going on today And there's still that demonic stuff and especially in the the leadership of our country the elites they're into that garbage They're into you're like, oh you're you believe in the illuminati and all this other stuff Listen, there are secret societies and a bunch of witchcraft And necromancy and all kinds of wickedness like that that's up in high places where people are doing that and they're communicating with devils Okay, and that stuff the bible's Mixing that in the country and saying no that's not to happen. Okay, so you could look at that and be like man That kind of seems silly But then you realize no that's real Okay, that stuff actually happens Just as much as there are angels there's devils and there's people that are into that stuff verse 19 This is for oregon The state At least that's what i've heard. Anyway Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. Amen to that Does anyone like disagree with that verse in america? Hopefully not. I mean, I mean, I know there are people that are in oregon You know like oregon is it oregon or oregon? oregon oregon no But i've heard out out in like the the northwest That this stuff is actually this stuff Happens and i'm not saying it's just there. I'm sure it happens other places as well That's just where i've heard there's weird stuff like that like where people are into that type of stuff disgusting, okay Please let it not be to where that's normalized Okay, I mean pedophilia should be the line obviously but Obviously, you know i'd rather I don't want to say i'd rather but i'd if that was going on but people weren't pedophiles I would I would be rather people weren't pedophiles, right not hurting children, but I don't even want to think about this But the bible talks about How these people are to be put to death. Okay makes sense I had some verses on this in leviticus And you know, but I think we all get the point on this one, right? uh They should be put to death. I mean do I really need to be like I need another verse for you here To uh convince you on this subject like anybody's just like i'm not convinced No, i'm convinced so I had some verses for you, but we're gonna skip that because uh, it's pretty self-explained story And at least thank god that's taboo still in america, right? Exodus chapter 22 and verse 20 But there might be a day where i'm gonna have to preach hard against that for some odd reason, you know, who knows verse 20 This is he that sacrifices unto any god save unto the lord only He shall be utterly destroyed Now when I think about this verse here now, obviously we're under like their government and the way things should be and I think about elijah. I think about elijah Killing all the prophets of bale, okay If you want to turn there first king chapter 18 is the story where that you had the prophets of bale if you remember the story He's basically saying, you know do what you want Call out to your gods, you know and call out the bale basically to Light your sacrifice on fire right to light it up and they're cutting themselves. They're crying aloud and nothing's going on And then you have elijah over here. He's pouring water on all His his wood and everything for his sacrifice. He does it three times and uh And god obviously comes down in a flame of fire but after this happens, you know, because he's basically proving god saying hey if this happens then you got to know that this is You know, he is god so after that happens Verse 19 it says now therefore i'm sorry in verse 19. I just want you to see how many Prophets of bale there were okay So you see the number verse 19 now therefore send and gather to me all israel unto mount carmel And the prophets of bale 450 and the prophets of the groves 400 which eat at jesabel's table So prophets of bale there's 450 but there's other prophets that are there that are prophets of the grove. Okay This potentially could be 850 people dying Being killed but it's at least 450 because notice what it says in verse 40 It says and elijah said unto them take the prophets of bale let not one of them escape And they took them and elijah brought them down to the brook kaishan and slew them there You say what right does he have to do that well in exodus says he that sacrificed Sacrifices unto any god save unto the lord only he shall be utterly destroyed There's your law Now just because they weren't actually implementing it in a lot of cases Doesn't mean that it wasn't the law Right, and obviously, uh, I I don't know if you know this but israel didn't always keep the law They didn't always keep what they they didn't always do what they were supposed to be doing. Okay So I always think of elijah when I think of that As far as that goes and uh, this would fly into the face of you know People are like well, you know in america, we should all have every religions are allowed and even religions that would blaspheme our god That's not the way it's going to be when jesus. Jesus is rolling and raining And it is what it is now, okay, i'm not i'm not saying that Uh, it's ever going to get back. It's ever going to get to this but in israel That's the way i'm supposed to be you only worship the lord and you're sacrificing any of the god in our country You're out Okay And that's the way that's the way it was that's the way it's going to be when jesus is rolling and raining We're raining with him You think he's going to allow other people like sacrificing the other gods? No, that law right there is going to be implemented And there's going to be people that don't like it There's going to be people that are going to be biting their tongue That don't like it and that's why you had the battle of gog and magog after that thousand year reign where Satan's going to gather them together against the saints And god's going to destroy them with fire So, I mean there's going to be people that don't like those laws even when jesus is rolling and raining. Okay Uh, but they're going to be instituted for a thousand years so You know one good reason to know these and you'd be like why is it good to know these even though we know we're not Going to be implemented in our day. They will be eventually Why not learn them now before we're rolling and raining with christ? Right, I mean You know know it early know it before we ever get to that point, okay So in james, uh, i'm sorry go to exit chapter 22 in verse 21 Now this passage is kind of dealing with not vexing or basically helping strangers widows fatherless and the poor Okay, and this is a passage to just know. Hey, we should not be afflicting them. We should be good to them That's what it says in verse 21 thou shalt neither vex a stranger nor oppress him for ye were strangers in In the land of egypt he shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child if thou afflict them in any wise And they cry out at all unto me I will surely hear their cry and my wrath wrath shall wax hot and I will kill you with the sword And your wives shall be widows and your children fatherless if thou lend money to any of of my People that is that is poor By thee thou shalt not be to him as a use and usurer Neither shalt thou lay upon him usury if thou at all take thy neighbor's raiment to pledge thou shalt deliver it unto him by the That the sun goeth down for that it is his covering only it is his raiment for his skin wherein shall he sleep And it shall come to pass when he crieth unto me that I will hear for I am gracious And this is really just showing that god cares for the strangers And if you remember that that these laws apply to the stranger as the citizen, okay This idea, you know if someone comes into our country They they should be under the same constitutional rights, even if they're a stranger Than someone that's a born citizen in our country Okay I don't care if they're an illegal immigrant if they if they're like You know going up before a judge they have they should have the same exact rights that we do As a stranger in the country, okay, and that's the way it should be Um, and you know the bible is teaching that and he's kind of reminding them you were a stranger in a strange land Okay, so don't forget that you should treat them. Well because you were in their position at one point, okay But then he goes on to say about Uh, if you want to turn to james chapter one dealing with the father the widow and the fatherless okay, and these are usually put together and big reason for this is that The the father's the breadwinner. The father is the one that he's the protector He's the one that brings home brings home the bacon if you will I mean, he's the one that's bringing in the goods and taking care of the family financially And so them being coupled with the poor makes a lot of sense because they don't have someone to provide for them. Okay, and He's stating here that do not afflict them Okay, what does the bible say about the widows in the fatherless it says in verse 27 of james one? It says pure religion and undefiled before god and the father is this to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep Himself unspotted from the world. So pure religion Would apply to to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction Being undefiled would be obviously to keep himself unspotted from the world but pure religion Religion isn't always bad by the way. Okay, people just like I hate religion. It's like well, do you hate this religion? Visiting the fatherless and the widows in their affliction Uh, no, I actually think that's that that's good religion pure religion if you will, okay And the bible says that we should obviously be visiting them and that doesn't just mean like going over to their house and saying hi Okay, we're obviously talking about helping them And the bible even talks about the widows and those that are widows indeed and how the church will help Those and take care of those that are widows indeed or that family members should be taking care of their widows And and there's a whole chapter really dealing with that subject but Go to go to proverbs chapter 14 dealing with the poor So I kind of link these together with when it comes to the widows And the the fatherless and the poor and kind of obviously kind of the same deal that you're dealing with there but in proverbs 14 and verse 31 This always comes to mind when I think of the poor and I think about people that um oppress the poor Or that would you know? Basically, there's a lot of people out there to take advantage of the poor And it's wicked the bible says here in proverbs 14 verse 31. It says he that oppresseth the poor reproaches his maker But he that honoreth him hath mercy on the poor So when you're oppressing the poor and when someone's like hurting the poor or they're extorting the poor You're approaching god you're approaching your maker And it says in proverbs 17 and verse 5 proverbs 17 and verse 5 says who so mocketh the poor Reproaches his maker and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished Okay, so it's kind of like you're mocking they're making fun of them okay, and What does it say, you know when it's dealing with the fatherless and the widows, um in here it says If thou afflict them in any wise and they cry at all unto me I will surely hear their cry and he's basically saying that i'm gonna make your wives widows and your children fathers I'm gonna kill you with a sword now, I don't know why this makes me think of this but It kind of does because you reap what you sow and kind of like the the thing that you are mocking is coming back on you I still remember to this day one of my friends growing up uh, the mom used to watch us every once in a while and it was kind of like we just got to Hang out with my friend, you know, so it was just kind of babysitting But it was really just hanging out with your friend and riding four-wheelers and riding bikes or whatever but anyway, I remember this one time where uh There was a gentleman that was helping my friend like work on his four-wheeler or whatever But he was as the bible would call a dwarf but like a midget, you know a little person I'm, not sure what the correct term is for that. I know the bible says dwarf. So that has to be right. Okay And I remember like before I even got there. She was like driving me there. She says, you know, so and so You know As a midget and or you know a little person or whatever she said and she said Don't make fun of him like and I wasn't planning on it But it was just kind of like this warning like don't make fun of because you make fun of them you're gonna have children that are that are gonna have that and like basically like Like trying to like scare me and obviously I remember it. I remember this vividly But obviously I wasn't like going to do that and i'm not that I I listen just just so you know when I grew up And still to this day I grew up being the shortest kid in my class all the way through school. I was picked on from like The very beginning all the way through high school until like my junior year in high school and then I finally started growing a little bit so So I I I understood that But at the same time it just stuck out to me and here is kind of like god saying like listen you mock them You mock them it's coming back on you. You're not going to be unpunished and it just kind of resonates with me as far as like if I were to mock somebody for like Something they have no control over Right, I mean think about that when you mock somebody for being like fatherless How wicked is that right or being a widow and mocking them? Or mocking somebody for some kind of disability or something like that. I mean that That's messed up, right? I mean you think about it that's just not messed up and I believe if I was saying here you do that and you you uh, what does it say, uh, You you're glad at calamities right, I mean that's like you're you're glad it's like I understand that if you know brother dave tripped and fell like i'd probably laugh, you know But honestly if something like Crazy tragic happened or something like that. That's that's another level, right? We're not talking about like a simple like ball or someone stumbled or you know He's out there weeding and he fell into the pond and you know, we would all laugh I mean, but here's the thing usually though. I'm like, are you okay? Hey All right. Now it's time to laugh right and um so You know that that's the type of thing that we need to be careful of And when it comes to the poor we need to be helping the poor not mocking the poor We need to be helping the poor not reproaching the poor We need to not be afflicting the the widows and the fatherless. We need to be helping them. I know that's common sense Okay But there are people that afflict the poor they oppress the poor Just to make themselves richer And you know what? We should not be that way now look at what it says in Exodus chapter 22 and verse 28 And this is this is kind of the the last major thing I want to hit on here And there's no way i'm going to get done with what I was going to say um the last two things so there this is really kind of the A bigger portion that I want to hit and i'll finish up with this. I want to look at the last two the last Uh, look at Exodus 22 and verse 29 First of all, i'm going to get through these really quick just so that I know I get done with the chapter here Um, basically this is dealing with tithing so in verse 29, it says thou shalt not delay to offer the first Uh first of the ripe fruits and of thy liquors the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen and with thy sheep seven days it shall be with his dam On the eighth day thou shalt give it me so that's talking about obviously the the sons they're redeemed And there's that's another sermon for another day there when it's talking about the sheep we're talking about tithing here Okay tithing on your increase and when it talks about Seven days it shall be with his dam. The dam is talking about like in another passage talking about that with like a bird and talking about the mother right basically You give it like seven days with the mother and then You know, it's given as uh The first fruits are your tithes and a verse on that would be second chronicles just to show you that That first fruits and tithes are very well linked there Uh second chronicles 31 verse 5 it says and as soon as the commandment came abroad the children of israel brought in abundance The first fruits of corn wine and oil and honey and of all the increase of the field and the tithe of all things Brought they in abundantly so That's what you're dealing with there the last verse of the chapter there It says ye shall be holy unto me Holy men unto me neither shall you eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field. Ye shall cast it to the dogs Modern vernacular don't eat roadkill, okay Like basically don't kill don't eat something that's just like lying there that got destroyed by something So here in west virginia that might be a thing where you're tempted to Scrape up that possum and cook it up. But you know what? I believe the bible is teaching against that. Okay. I know I mean if you're out in survival situation like bear girls and you got to do it I mean There's this exception proves the rule. Okay, but if you're just roaming around home, then don't do that. Okay now The last thing I want to hit on here is this verse dealing with Verse 28 here. It says thou shalt not revile the gods Nor curse the ruler of thy people. Okay. Now this is a passage that You're kind of like well, what is this talking about? So When it comes to this there's there's different thoughts on this as far as well when we're talking about gods Are we talking about rulers? Are we talking about? Devils, right? Obviously, we're not talking about like zeus and apollo or whatever, you know Achilles, you know, we're talking about You know real things like a devil or a ruler and I think honestly this verse can apply to both Probably in context you're probably dealing with rulers But at the same time it talks about not to sacrifice unto any god in the same passage Okay, so I can I can see this both ways, but I believe the same applies. Okay, so When you're dealing with as far as like the gods, but I believe it's kind of like the same token The same token that shall not revile the gods nor curse the ruler thy people that you're dealing with the rulers You're dealing with those that are in government authority and god is a term that basically means like someone that has Dominion or supreme power right or has power obviously god is the supreme power of everything, right? But when it comes to this i'm going to show you a verse in deuteronomy 32 and verse 16 where it equates gods with devils Okay So I think if you take it as that That makes a lot of sense Because uh notice it says deuteronomy 32 and verse 16 they provoked me To jealousy with strange gods and with abominations provoked him to anger They sacrificed unto devils not to god to gods whom they knew not to new gods That came newly up whom your father's feared not so notice how it's using that Interchangeably that you sacrificed unto devils to gods whom you knew not okay, so Definitely devils would fit But go with me to psalm 82 psalm 82 And to give you another aspect here now, I think both apply and can apply i'm going to show you why In psalm 82 It says in verse one god standeth in the congregation of the mighty he judgeth among the gods how long will you judge unjustly and accept the persons of the wicked ceila Defend the poor and fatherless do justice to the afflicted to the afflicted and needy deliver the poor and needy Rid them out of the hand of the wicked see in context what we just get done talking about right The poor the needy the fatherless the widows, okay They know not neither will they understand they walk on in darkness all the foundations of the earth are out Of course, I have said ye are gods And all of you are the children of the most high but ye shall die like men And fall like one of the princes arise o god judge the earth for thou shalt inherit all nations Now this is a cryptic passage. Okay, and jesus brings up this passage, right? You know, it says that you know as it is written I have said ye are gods and i'm saying i'm the son of god, you know, why stone is not me? He's obviously using a cryptic passage to kind of uh, he's giving them a dark saying okay but all that to say here is that He's talking about people that are judging And that are doing judgment and I believe that's probably what you're dealing with here is Those that are in positions of authority to make judgment calls, right? and Uh, because he's saying you're gods, but you shall die like men. So these are obviously people that can die and Uh, I think that that can apply here. Okay That uh, but go to jude go to jude in verse eight jude in verse eight. So in jude I believe if you're going to take that passage to talk about devils What is it talking about to not revile them and not to curse them because didn't alijah mock them mock the prophets of bale Is like isn't he sleeping? Is he on a journey? Okay What I believe this is dealing with here I don't believe this is stating and I have verses for this but I just don't have time to get to them I do not believe this is saying that you can't call out a leader for their sin Okay What I believe this is stating is both with leaders And with devils, right? That you're not to bring a railing accusation Something that's unfounded, okay Meaning to revile or to curse in this context is talking about basically To put something on them that you can't prove Okay um And here's why I believe if you're dealing with the devil himself, for example, right it says in verse eight It says likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh despise dominion and speak evil of dignities So what are we dealing with in this passage reviling and cursing? Dignities if you will, okay But what are we talking about when they're speaking evil of dignities It's just that they speak evil of it or is there something else that's involved in this it says in verse Nine there it says yet michael the archangel when contending with the devil. He disputed about the body of moses Durst not bring against him a railing accusation But said the lord rebuked thee now we're saying okay when we're dealing with they're talking about a railing accusation not just an accusation, okay? A railing accusation but then it says in verse 10, but these speak evil of those things which they know not Do you see what the context is here? We're talking about you're speaking evil You're saying something you're giving the accusation against the devil that that's unfounded or untrue And it could be something that could be true, but it's not you don't know that it's true. Okay, so for example our our van Tires leaking I ran over a nail Not a big deal, but I said the devil put that nail in there That's a railing accusation, right? I don't know that maybe he did but I don't think so. Like I think time and chance happened at the every man, right? And I was driving to my house that's under construction and there's nails and everything everywhere. Okay, it just happens, right? That's an example of a railing accusation. Okay, and speaking of things. I don't know I right you're you're saying something about something that you don't know Go to second peter chapter two. So let me give you an example when you're dealing with rulers Okay, where you're not to be reviling or cursing them and I believe what you're dealing with here is you're dealing with Unfounded like you're basically accusing them or that's that's a railing accusation Okay, if I said, you know, well, you know so-and-so is an adulterer right if I said Donald trump's an adulterer That's not a railing accusation. It's facts Okay, you know how I know Because everybody knows okay And it's just a fact. I mean he admits to obviously getting remarried divorced all that stuff. I mean, that's that's just facts And you could look at certain things to be like they've admitted to it You know kamala harris admits to being a whore That's not a railing accusation. That's on the record Okay Now if I start saying, you know Kamala harris drinks blood of children It could be true Okay With wicked leaders that we have it's possible But you see how that's not that's a railing accusation, right? That's why i'm like making i'm stating stuff that I have no idea whether it's true or not or maybe i've heard it, you know Like they're having these spiritual dinners or whatever they're called or you know, they're doing all these weird things Maybe they are right, but I don't know that for sure. I wasn't there. I didn't see it. I don't have proof of it Okay, second peter chapter two verse nine It says the lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the injustice to the day of judgment to be Punished but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise government Presumptuous are they self-willed they they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities kind of the same language, right? But it says whereas angels which are greater in power might bring not railing accusation against them before the lord So even the angels which are greater in power because we're made a little lower than the angels, right? He's talking about people that are dignities and people that are in government They're above them, but they're not going to bring a railing accusation even against them. Okay But what does that mean it says but these as natural brute beasts may to be taken and destroyed speak Evil of the things that they understand not and shall utterly perish in their own corruption so In short I could show you where jesus calls harrod a fox I could show you where john the baptist calls the pharisees A generation of vipers, right? I could show you where harrod He goes to prison because he tells harrod that it's not lawful for him to have his brother phillip's wife I could show you where jesus is rebuking them and there's a whole chapter about him saying We'll want to use scribes and pharisees and hypocrites I could show you all these passages show you all these passages where that you know What i'm saying with that is that you can't just put the bible on its head By one verse that you may not understand. Okay in exodus But when you take exodus and you put it into second peter and jude, which obviously the new testament's shining light on that Then you know what? I think that what we're dealing with here is that Sometimes it'll say speak evil no man and it'll give a broad sense, but it's manifest that You know in it or it says honor all men But it's manifest that we know will give honor to whom honor is due But whoever honors do give honor to all those right and the idea there is that there's context that's involved You got to take the bible as a whole. Okay, when it says that shall not kill it's manifest that we're talking about murder Okay Don't just take that one verse and be like, all right, you can't kill animals can't kill anything else You know can't kill plants You know You have to take it in context. Okay, and I hope that makes sense. And that's my interpretation on it that you you're you're probably dealing with leaders there when it's talking about that The one example where that verse is brought up and people will say well see you're not supposed to Basically, you should just only speak kindly about your leaders Okay And never speak anything that's cross or anything about them is where paul said says to the high priest he calls him a whited Wall, okay And they said, you know You're saying that to the high priest and he says I wish not that it was that he was the high priest Because it says astronauts speak evil the role of thy people now what you have to understand there is that one that's a story Okay It's not the narrator stating that That's a story of what paul said. It's possible Paul's not right, you know, like he you know, he's kind of going too far and to apologize, right? Or two he called him a whited wall and maybe he doesn't know whether he's a whited wall that makes sense Like he may really think that he probably is right I don't even know what that means exactly just so you know, like obviously I think of a whited sepulcher, right? I think of jesus saying you're a whited sepulcher and that kind of being associated with being a reprobate And maybe he's saying you're a reprobate But he doesn't know that for sure Does that make sense that's where maybe he's probably thinking maybe i've crossed the line Where i'm not 100 that what I just said to him was correct And he's kind of walking the line there. So that's just one way to look at it. Um But I don't believe it's wrong to call out leaders for their sins And I don't believe it's wrong to even call them names in a lot of cases because the bible does in a lot of cases they call them animals all the time, so I'm over my time But you know what when you're going through these i'm trying to i'm trying to Put some meat on them. I don't want to just run through them. But uh, but that's done with the word of prayer Dear only father we thank you today. Thank you for your word And thank you for these passages and just help us to know them help us to learn them Ultimately help us to use them in our lives as much as we can But lord, we just thank you for your perfect law of liberty And just all these righteous judgments and and laws that that we see here and what we just love you in prayer Also in jesus christ's name. Amen. So brother they will come and sing one more song and then we'll be dismissed You All right, take your song books and turn to song 127 127 Song 127 we'll sing tis so sweet to trust in jesus if you would stand we'll sing song 127 And 27 Tis so sweet to trust in jesus Just to take him at his word Just to rest upon his promise Just to know the sith of lord Jesus jesus how I trust him how I prove him o'er and o'er jesus jesus
