I Man all right, we're in second Peter chapter number three in verse number one the Bible reads here the second epistle beloved I now write unto you in both which I stir up your minds By way of remembrance that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of the commandment of us to the Us the apostles of the Lord and Savior knowing this first that there shall come in the last days scoffers Walking after their own lust and the thought of my sermon this evening is the witness of the prophets part two So this morning we actually preached part one in regards to this and we highlighted different aspects of these prophets in the Old Testament They're basically expressed a lot of the characteristics and attributes of Jesus Christ And I like what Peter says here in second Peter chapter three He's writing this epistle this letter and he said I'm doing it to to stir up your mind by way of remembrance Okay, and he says that you may be mindful of the words which are spoken before by the holy prophets So he's saying just remember the words of the holy prophets and obviously as we read the Old Testament We see the words of these prophets and the the words that they wrote down obviously inspired by the Holy Ghost and how it relates To Jesus Christ now as I mentioned this morning go with me if you went to 2nd Peter chapter 1 I mentioned this morning that Jesus Christ is the main character of the Bible. He is the theme of the Word of God You know, he's the one who said, you know Search the scriptures for in them you think I have eternal life and they are which testify of me So the whole entire Word of God all 66 books Old Testament New Testament It's all about the Lord Jesus Christ and here in second Peter. We see the Apostle Peter basically reminding them Hey remember the words of these prophets because it's profitable and in fact in second Peter chapter 1 verse 20 says knowing this first Then no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation for the prophecy came not an old time by the will of men But holy men of God spake as they're removed by the Holy Ghost now This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible and I love using it when people say Oh, you know the Bible is written by man How can I trust the Bible the Bible is written by man, you know, that's your interpretation of the scriptures Well here it says an old prophecy of the scripture is given of any private interpretation Okay, so we can't necessarily say that we're interpreting it the way we see it We're interpreting the way God's entrusted us to do it the way he's teaching us to do it, but it's not private You know We compare scripture with scripture and understand that the Bible's teach is basically they work in tandem all the doctrines in the Bible work in tandem One with another and makes sense. So it's not us putting our private interpretation on the scripture It's basically us teaching what it's already what's already there So this morning we said that there's four ways Jesus Christ has been witnessed and was pictured in the Old Testament. The first one was through cardinal ordinances. We talked about the sacrifices The second was inanimate objects such as the brazen serpent the third was the literal appearances in the Old Testament such as Melchizedek and then the fourth is the one where we're Mainly talking about which is the literal people in the Bible now in the morning. We highlighted Adam We talked about Abel Isaac Joseph and Elijah Okay, and how all these men in their way obviously expressed some form or some attribute of Jesus Christ now tonight we're gonna continue with this thought I thought I thought it would be fitting just to continue with it just because it's an interesting subject to me and You're just gonna have to listen if it's not an interesting subject to you. Sorry, you know, I enjoyed studying this I was like man I'm gonna I want to see who else Pictures Jesus Christ in the Old Testament and this could go on for many sermons and we're just gonna limit it to tonight But example number six go with you for what to Exodus chapter 1 Exodus chapter number 1 so Adam was the first one because of his colossal impact on mankind just as Jesus Christ made a big impact by shedding his blood dying for everyone and The fact that through him we can find redemption Abel because of what his blood spoke Okay, his blood spoke redempt or excuse me revenge. Whereas the Jesus Christ blood speaks redemption Isaac because of the sacrifice that he was willing to make just as Jesus Christ was the Lamb of God should take away the sins of the world and we see that that that simple that symbolism even in Genesis where he says God will Provide himself a sacrifice later on in those verses We see that he was talking about the ram and the thicket but it was a prophecy of Jesus Christ and what he was going To do Joseph and just tons of proof in the story of Joseph him being delivered by his brethren being hated by his brethren The fact that he was going to reign over his brethren and we see that True in the life of Jesus Christ as well and then Elijah I thought that was one of my favorites Elijah and how he pictures Jesus Christ how because he was taken up in a whirlwind and when he was taken up he gave to Elisha a double portion of his spirit Just as when Jesus Christ ascended up to be to be at the right hand of the Father Sent the comforter to dwell within us as believers and guess what we're able to do double the work We're able to do greater works than he was able to do even in his three years of ministry We're able to do greater exploits even than that and that was a promise given to us by himself Now tonight we're gonna look at Exodus chapter 1 example number 6 is Moses Okay now out of the five examples that I'm gonna give you tonight This is probably the most comprehensive one just because there's so much that is said about Moses now Before we read Exodus chapter 1. Let me mention that Some of the similarities that we see here first and foremost is that in the same time that excuse me when Moses was born He had a foreign country ruling over Israel just as when Jesus Christ was born He also had a foreign country ruling over Israel as well You see the Egyptians were in charge in Moses day just as the Romans were in charge in Jesus day They had similar births For example Pharaoh wanted to kill all the males and what did Herod want to do during the time of Christ? He wanted to kill all the children look at Exodus chapter 1 in verse number 8 It says now there arose up a new king over Egypt which knew not Joseph and he said unto his people behold the people of The children of Israel are more and mightier than we come on Let us deal wisely with them lest they multiply and it come to pass that when they're falleth out any war They join also unto our enemies and fight against us and so get them up out of the land So obviously the motive is a little different but the way of carrying out that motive is just the same Pharaoh is afraid why because the children of Israel are multiplying we see that the more they afflicted them the more they multiplied and that's A great principle just in and of itself, you know, don't run away from afflictions In fact that causes you to multiply when you're in afflictions that causes you to grow and we see that he's afraid that if Israel continues to multiply The males are gonna grow up and eventually they're gonna have a mighty army to basically usurp the authority of the Egyptians Skip down to verse number 15. So his his solution is this. Let's just kill all the males save all the ladies alive But let's just go ahead and kill all the males because they're the ones are gonna be in that army Verse 15 says in the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives of which the name of one was Shifra in the name of the Elohim, and he said when you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women and See them upon the stools if it be a son then he shall kill him But if it be a daughter then she shall live But the midwives feared God and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them But saved the men children alive and the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said unto them why have you done this thing and have saved the men children alive and the midwives sent into Pharaoh because the Hebrew women are not as The Egyptian women for they are lively and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them therefore God Dealt with the midwives and the people multiplied and waxed very mighty and it came to pass because the midwives feared God That he made them houses and Pharaoh charged all his people saying every son that is born He shall cast into the river and every daughter you shall save alive now go with me if you went to Matthew chapter number two Matthew chapter number two So we understand that Moses was a part of that crowd Pharaoh wanted Moses dead as well because he was part of the Hebrews and let me say this is it's no different today We know that today Satan We know that today that the culture and everything that's against God and against God's morals wants to kill the children They want to kill the children you that's why all these Planned Parenthood, you know facilities exist to murder children You know and you're saying yeah, I'm against that but I'm for birth control then you're for abortion It's the same exact thing Look, we want to be make sure that we're a church that appreciates children that values children that recognizes that There are heritage unto the Lord there inheritance of the Lord and we want to make sure that we value them not Despise them and most of the world hates children because they don't know how to raise them That's why you know when when parents don't know how to raise their children to chill their children become a grief unto them But if you raise children according to the Word of God, they become a joy They become the rejoicing of our hearts and so just want to throw that in there, but the world hates children You know, they want to make sure that they kill them off that they hand out as many condoms and Contraceptives as they can to make sure that people fornicate and don't produce. No, that's wicked Matthew chapter 2 and verse number 7 The Bible says here then Herod when he had privately called the wise men inquired of them diligently What time the star appeared and he and he sent them to Bethlehem and said go and search diligent for the young child And when he had found him bring me word again that I may come and worship him also Now he's being a little deceitful. Obviously now what Herod is afraid of is obviously he's hearing about this prophecy of this coming King Which is Jesus Christ and he thinks that basically this king is gonna rise up You serve his authority and basically take his place, which obviously one day he will So the motive behind is the same thing He sees that this person is gonna grow is gonna become a king and eventually take his place Which is the exact same fear that Pharaoh had. So what's the agenda there? Just kill him off, you know now He says there he wants to worship him now. Obviously, we know that he's lying look down to verse 16 then Herod when he saw that he was mocked of the wise man was exceeding wroth and sent forth and slew all the children to run Bethlehem and in all the coaster up from two years old and under According to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the Prophet saying in Rhema, was there a voice heard lamentation and weeping and great mourning Rachel weeping for her children And would not become comforted because they are not so we see here the similarities between Moses and Jesus was this Moses was spared Just as Jesus was spared Okay Moses had an enemy called Pharaoh who wanted to kill off all the children and killed a lot of them off Just as Jesus had Herod who was the king who wanted to kill them off, you know Moses had Pharaoh who was afraid that the children of Israel would rise up usurp their authority and multiply Just as Herod was afraid that this King Jesus was gonna end up taking his place as king now Go hold your place. Go back to Exodus chapter 2. We're gonna go back and forth from the New Testament in the Old Testament Exodus chapter number 2 So Moses one of the similarities that we see there is that they had Basically, there's almost the same upbringing in the sense that they had the same enemies trying to kill them off But not only that Moses mother hid Moses for three months look what it says in Exodus chapter 2 verse 1 and there went a man of the house of Levi and took to wife a daughter of Levi and The woman conceived them bear a son and when she saw him that he was a goodly child She hid him three months. You don't have to turn there Matthew chapter 2 in verse number 12 It says and being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod They departed into their own country another way and when they were departed behold the angel of the Lord appeared appearance to Joseph in a dream saying arise Take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt and be thou there until I bring thee word for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him and when he arose he took the young child and his mother by night and Departed into Egypt so we see there that they both both of their parents hid them for a while Until when until the Pharaoh and then the king died so that's another thing we see is that Moses went into a foreign land and Actually came back when Pharaoh that Pharaoh who wanted to kill him died Just as Jesus went into Egypt until Herod had died now you're in Exodus chapter 2 look at verse number 11 Let's look at another Similarity that we see here verse number 11 says and it came to pass in those days when Moses was grown That he went out unto his brethren and looked on their burdens and he spied an Egyptian smiting in Hebrew One of his brethren and he looked this way and that way when he saw that there was no man He slew the Egyptian and hid him in the sand And when he went out the second day behold two men of the Hebrews strove together And he said to him that did the wrong wherefore smite is thou thy fellow and he said who made thee a prince and judge over us and tendest thou to kill me as thou killest the Egyptian and Moses feared and said surely this thing is known. So what's another thing we see here? Is that Moses own brethren the Hebrews? rejected them okay, and Even when he tried to rule and reign over them and lead them they rejected him now in a sense They kind of had a reason to reject him. Why because he killed a man, you know, he wasn't necessarily living a godly life He was being very shady. And in fact when he murdered the man, what did he do? He hit him in the sand. Okay, and he thought that no one would see him He looked left and he looked right, but he forgot to look up Right, and by the way that goes to show us that you know, you're to be sure your sin will find you out Before you make a decision to do some sin that's gonna destroy your life. Yeah, you may look left you may look right, but you're gonna forget to look up and No one else may see you. I may not see you You know your own brother in your household may not see you but God is always watching His eyes are over the righteous the Bible says beholding the good and the evil So we need to make sure that we are conscious about these things, but we see that relation there go to Exodus chapter number five So He's like, oh man this thing is known and he flees into the country that this the the nation the country there of the Midianites Exodus chapter 5 verse 9 verse 9 team Excuse me Verse 19 says and the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case after it was said he shall not Minish up from your bricks of your daily tasks. So what's taking place here? Obviously, this is after God calls Moses He comes back to Egypt and he's saying hey Let my people go and he doesn't want to let him go Pharaoh basically ends up making their labor twice as hard before they would provide the brick and the mortar now They actually have to go out and get it themselves and still accomplish the amount of tasks that they're requiring of them And you know at this time, maybe the children of Israel are looking lightly upon Moses But not after this because after he fails they're like man you messed it up for us now We got to walk twice as hard look what it says in verse 20 and they met Moses and Aaron who stood in the way as they came forth from Pharaoh and they said unto them the Lord look upon you and judge because he have made our Savior to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants to put a sword in their hand to slay Us and Moses returned to the Lord and said Lord wherefore has thou so evil and treated this people Why is it that thou has sent me for since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name? He had done evil to this people neither has thou delivered thy people at all. So we see right away. They're rejecting them I mean they rejected him when he slew the man, but even in his first attempt to deliver the Hebrews What are they doing? They're rejecting they're like man. You just you screwed it up for all of us now We're gonna work twice as hard. Okay Now that is a picture of Jesus Christ And let me say this every single example that we're gonna look at today and even examples that we have not seen every single prophet That what the something that they have in common every single prophet is that they were rejected of their brethren, okay That is a common quality for every Christian Someone will reject you if you're not rejected and you're accepted of all men, then there's a problem with what you're doing Okay, if you want to make sure you get along with every single person that you're not preaching from the Bible You're not living a godly life. Why because this goes against the grain Okay, the Bible says that it's a sword that Britain divides Okay, Jesus Christ brought a sword to divide and often it's with family often It's with friends or even with church members or other Christians who are saved who are King James only Bible believe in Christians who love the Word of God it will often cause a division between them, but you know what that's okay Why because the prophets the same thing happened to them when they try to do right and they came in the name of the Lord What happened they were rejected of a lot of their brethren now? We see that also in Jesus Christ life, right and we don't have to go on to all that We obviously understand that he came into his own his own received them not They didn't want him to lead them and we saw the verses in Luke where it talks about we will not have him to reign Over us etc. Go back to Exodus chapter 2 if you wouldn't Exodus chapter 2 So a lot of similarities of Moses here with Jesus Christ, you know similar births, you know The deliverance is the callings and and the We see there that they were rejected of their brethren, but also Moses took a Gentile bride Okay. Now I want every pastor who's against, you know mixed marrying to read Exodus chapter 2 You know, they need to study the life of Moses Moses married a black woman You know an Ethiopian woman Thank You mark, can you tell why he's like really excited about that? You know, those are you a YouTube land, you know, okay just kidding look at Exodus chapter 2 verse 16 and the reason I look the reason I say that is because there's pastors out there Who like who like say they like you're in sin if like you like mix marriage It's like what you're mixed You think you're like the first of your kind It's ridiculous, I think you think you're the you know, I'm white, you know, no, you're not Your skin colors is like mocha. Okay, but if we were to cut you open and take out your DNA We'd see all kinds of things in you That's fact, you know, I'm Hispanic and my parents are from Guatemala, but to be honest with you. I'm not fully Guatemalan You know, I've heard that I had a great-grandmother who was a blonde hair blue-eyed German woman I had an Armenian great-great-grandfather. I had someone who was in Jamaica. We all over the world So we can't you know, obviously we'll say yeah, I'm going tomorrow. I'm Hispanic just to generalize something but in reality We're not a pure race You know, that's what these stupid Hebrew, you know Israelites need to realize These Israel United and Christ fools need to recognize they look at someone like me and say oh you're you're of the tribe of Issachar Right my Issachar. Oh, no. No, I'm uh, what am I? Oh I'm Zebulun your Issachar the Mexicans are Issachar You know cuz cuz we look Hispanic or whatever. I'm like, yeah, have you look at my beard? It's a Middle Eastern beard This comes from the Armenian to me. I'm not lying. I had an Armenian great-great-grandfather and he grew a massive beard Okay, that's where I get it from. So to say like, you know, oh, you know, it's wicked You shouldn't you shouldn't intermarry because it's sinful. No Phil kid. You're wicked By the way, they feel kid married a Mexican woman stupid hypocrite You know, he's telling everyone else that you can't marry another race no, that's that's foolishness and folly is what it is That's people who don't understand the Word of God Okay, and look, you know, they they think like God's a racist or something You know about these are the same people who love the Jews and think that they're superior to everyone else big surprise Right look at Exodus chapter 2 verse 16 Now the priests of Midian had seven daughters and they came and drew water and filled the troves to water their father's flock and the shepherds Came and drove them away But Moses stood up and helped them and water their flock and when they came to rule their father He said how is it that you're come? so soon today and they said an Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds and also drew water enough for us and Water the flock by the way, you know Moses is a Hebrew But they're looking at it and saying the Egyptian King You know that means that they look alike, right? It's like it's like someone looking at me and say oh that Mexican That really doesn't offend me to be honest with you. I'm gonna go on Guatemala and look you need to get it, right? I'm going mom And the reason I'm saying that is because Hispanics are like that Okay It's like, you know, don't you dare call me a Mexican? I'm from El Salvador, you know By the way, I got Salvadorian blood in me too, right? but You know if I'm from Oaxaca or whatever No, no, you're everything you're from Adam Okay, so we shouldn't have this this race pride Attitude especially months of Spanish that's big. Okay. I seen a shirt. Okay where it said Don't call me Hispanic. Don't call me Latino. Don't call me all these it. I'm a Mexican You're Hispanic Just deal with it, okay And look, you know why it doesn't matter because if I cut you you bleed the same exact color blood that I bleed And you know why else it doesn't matter is because if we're saved it doesn't matter what race we're all we're all children of God And if you don't like that, then you're really gonna hate heaven Because heaven is a smorgasbord of different races of different tribes and tongues This is what heaven is gonna look like right here got white people right there got an Armenian here You know that Filipina there got a guy from Turkey here. It's gonna be all different races Why because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Okay Look what it goes on to say verse 20 said into his daughters and where is he? And why is it that he have left the man call him that he may eat bread and Moses was content to dwell with the man And he gave Moses a poor up his daughter. So we see there that Moses took a Gentile bride So what relation is that with Jesus Christ? Well go to 2nd Corinthians chapter number 11 2nd Corinthians chapter number 11 Look my wife's family. They they all like did interracial marriages except for one You know a white guy who married a really white girl or her, you know, and then but that's not I mean Even she's like from Spain or something, right? She's got like Spaniard blood in her But then I got a brother-in-law who married a Chinese girl And by the way, Chinese people also think that they're like the pure race You know, I'm telling you the truth they think they're like China's like untouched You think like no one's ever come into China who wasn't a Chinese person and married a Chinese person It happens all the time. We're talking about thousands of years of Marriages you think Chinese people have only married Chinese people? No You know, my brother-in-law is not the first white guy to marry a Chinese girl That's a big surprise. But if it's true, okay, it happens all the time and I'm not the first Hispanic guy to marry a white girl You know, it happens all the time. And so this should never be an issue with anybody now if you're like well I only want to marry, you know, someone who is my skin color or whatever then that's your prerogative But don't try to teach teach that as though it's doctrine and try to guilt trip people because they're marrying someone that's outside of their Race or whatever. Okay Look at 2nd Corinthians chapter 11 verse 1 What to God you you could bear with me a little in my folly and indeed bear with me For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy for I have espoused you to one husband Then I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ now Obviously in the Old Testament the Bible teaches us that the Jews were God's chosen people in the New Testament That has been replaced with all believers and those believers include Gentiles and that's who's being espoused here is Gentiles who are believers obviously we understand that they're Jews in the heart and of the spirit But we see that similarity as well. Okay, go back to Exodus chapter number three Something to be mentioned here is that Moses was kind To the daughter of the media of rule at the well. Well, what do we see in John chapter 4? Jesus Christ also being kind to the Samaritan woman at the well. Okay, Exodus chapter 3 We also see that Moses came down to deliver God's people and to lead them into the Promised Land Look at Exodus chapter 3 in verse number 6 it says moreover he said I am the God of thy father the God of Abraham the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob and Moses hid his face for he was afraid to look upon God and the Lord said I have surely seen the affliction of my people Which are in Egypt and I've heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters for I know their sorrows And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of the land Out of that land unto a good land in large unto a land flowing with milk and honey Unto the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites Now therefore behold the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me and I also and I have also seen the oppression Wherewith the Egyptians oppressed them come now therefore and I will send thee unto Pharaoh That thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt now Egypt in the Bible is a picture of the world. Okay, and The Promised Land is a picture of heaven. So what is what is Moses doing here? He's taking the children of Israel these people these Hebrew these Hebrews He's taking them out of he's delivering them out of that bondage of Egypt and he's leading them into the Promised Land Well, that's exactly what Jesus Christ came to do Okay the Bible tells us you don't have to turn in Luke chapter 4 verse 18 the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he Had anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he had sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives and Recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty Them that are bruised to preach the acceptable year of the Lord So Moses came in to deliver the Hebrews just as Jesus came to deliver mankind Obviously through his sacrifice go to Exodus chapter 24 Exodus chapter 24 So Moses has a lot of similarities with the Lord Jesus Christ and one that we see here in Exodus chapter 24 is that he was the catalyst for the start of the Covenant Specifically the old covenant. Okay. God gives Moses the commandments He writes them on tables of stone with with his own finger He also he also recites it to him and not just the commandments He gives them the instructions of how to build a tabernacle, etc When he's up in the mount look at Exodus 24 verse 7 it says and he took the book of the Covenant speaking of Moses and read in the audience of the people and they said all that the Lord had said we will do and be obedient and Moses took the blood and Sprinkled it on the people and said behold the blood of the Covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words now when the the children of Israel when they Shed the blood when they when they spread the blood on the on the doorposts of their doors when they did the sacrifice and The angel came basically and whenever he saw the blood they he went he passed over them That wasn't this that was a picture of salvation obviously But that wasn't when the old covenant began the old covenant began actually in Exodus 24 when he sprinkled them with the blood Okay, and I'm gonna show that I'm gonna I'm gonna show that to you go to Hebrews chapter number 9 Hebrews chapter number 9 So he was the catalyst of that Old Testament because he not only brought the law But he sprinkled the people with the blood of bulls and of calves look at Hebrews 9 verse 11 It says but Christ being come in high priest of good things to come by a greater more perfect tabernacle Not made with hands that is to say not of this building neither by the blood of goats and calves But by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place having obtained eternal redemption for us skip down to verse 18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood for when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law He took the blood of calves and of goats with water and scarlet wool and hyssop and Sprinkled both the book and all the people saying this is the blood of the Testament which God hath enjoined unto you moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry and Almost all things are by the law purged with blood and without shedding of blood is no Remission so we see the similarity there He was the catalyst of the Old Testament was and obviously we understand that Jesus Christ is the catalyst of the New Testament By the shedding of his own blood Go with me if you went to Deuteronomy chapter number one Deuteronomy chapter number one So something else that we see is that Moses was the one who instructed the people regarding the bread coming down from heaven Jesus Christ is that bread of life in the New Testament as we see He instructs the people in the Old Testament to gather the bread daily to feed themselves physically Whereas Jesus Christ in the New Testament in Matthew chapter 4 verse 4 It says man should not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God He's in mind should never hey read the Bible and feed yourself spiritually every day We see those those similarities there Moses was in the mountain 40 days and 40 nights just as Jesus Christ was in the desert fasting for 40 days and 40 nights as Well, but not only that but Moses also ordained 12 men to spy out the land look at Deuteronomy 120 says and I said unto you you're coming to the mountain of the Amorites Which the Lord our God doth give unto us behold the Lord thy God had set the land before thee Go up and possess it as the Lord God of thy fathers had said unto thee fear not Neither be discouraged and he came near and said unto me every one of you and said We will send men before us and they shall search us out the land and bring us word again By what way we must go up and into what cities we shall come and the saying please me well and I took twelve men of you one of a tribe and they turned and went up into the mountain and came into the valley of Eshkol and searched it out and what do we see in the New Testament Jesus Christ ordaining twelve men? Okay to be the Apostles to be that catalyst right there Which is very interesting because these men in Deuteronomy were sent out to spy out that land and you see there He said look search out the land bring us word again of what way we must go up and into what cities we shall come Well, we see the twelve apostles doing the same exact thing They're going out into the highways and hedges seeing who's open to the gospel who is not They're dusting off their feet in certain cities So on and so forth But we see that those twelve men were from twelve tribes Just as the twelve disciples will be ruling over the twelve tribes in the millennial reign very interesting Matthew chapter 10 in verse number one says that when he had called unto him his twelve disciples he gave them power against unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal a manner of sickness in all manner of disease you're in Deuteronomy go to chapter 19 a Lot of similarities with Moses Okay And it's it's awesome to see these similarities because it just opens up the scope of our understanding in regards to our Savior So here Danes twelve men to spy out the land just as Jesus Christ or Danes twelve apostles But not only that we see that Moses was used to establish the law Then under two or three witnesses every word shall be established. Right? What is that talking about? So in other words, no one can be pronounced guilty Unless there's two or three witnesses to say hey, I saw it happen. And so one person can't just come up and say hey I saw it happen It's like well was there anybody else who saw it other than you you have to have two or three witnesses in order for that To be verified look at Deuteronomy 19 verse 15. We see this command here The Bible reads one witness shall not rise up Against a man for any iniquity or for any sin in any sin that he sent at the mouth of two witnesses Or at the mouth of three witnesses shall the matter be established He said what's the similarity with Jesus Christ? Well Jesus stated in Matthew 18 verse 20 for where two or three are gathered together in my name There I am in the midst of them So every word shall be established in the Old Testament Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses just as the Word of God Which is Jesus Christ is established when there's two or three witnesses there Okay, two two or three believers gathered together in my name there I am in the midst of them So you see that similarity there go to Jonah chapter 1 Jonah chapter 1 So that's it for Moses and there's a lot more that we can say about Moses There's a lot of interesting things in regards that you can do your own study and maybe tell me afterwards But he's a good example a good picture very symbolic of Jesus Christ and all the events that took place in his life But the next one we're gonna look at is Jonah and Jonah is pretty self-explanatory You guys know where I'm gonna go with this, but it's worth mentioning and Jonah chapter 1 and verse 17 now Who's Jonah? Jonah was a preacher who basically ran away like a little coward because he didn't want to preach to the Ninevites and One of the reasons because he hated the Ninevites Okay So he took off to he he he left to Tarshish the Bible tells us and he big he's basically run away from God's calling Look at verse 17 Now the Lord has prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three Nights so what happens he disobeys God God prepares his great well to swallow up Jonah And he's in that belly for three days and three nights now Here's the interesting thing is a lot of times in the Bible when God wanted to establish some sort of symbolic Picture of Jesus Christ, you know, I gave the example this morning of Moses having to speak to the rock But instead he smote it and by doing that he basically marred that picture that he wanted to do But there are times when God would just take the mistake of the mistake of a person or a prophet or even the disobedience and Basically use that as a means to picture Jesus Christ and Jonah's a perfect example of that Why because originally God was not thinking, you know, okay I want Jonah to be swallowed up by a whale, you know to picture that Jesus Christ went to hell It was by his disobedience By his by his disobedience in his rebellion that he suffered that consequence and God Used that to basically later on a picture Jesus Christ going to hell for our sins but that goes to show us that you know when you make mistakes God can turn that mistake into some like a Success story. Okay, because all things work together for good to them that love the Lord And so we have we have to realize that you know Don't don't necessarily harp on your failures and your mistakes all the time and always constantly look back like man I blew it years ago or I messed up or I did this, you know God can turn that around and turn it into something great. Okay, look at Jonah chapter 2 verse number 1 It says then Jonah prayed into the Lord his God out of the fish's belly and said I cried by reason of mine affliction Until the Lord and he heard me out of the belly of hell cried I and thou heardest my voice now I don't believe Jonah was literally in hell But I'm sure he felt like he was in hell. I mean we're in the in the bell of the welly our bell the way And the belly of the whale Someone's got to write that down. I can't even repeat that remind me of that afterwards, um You know probably feels like hell you got a bunch of fish in there that that whales eating price stinks to high heaven You know, it's it's dark. It's dingy and he's just stuck there. By the way in a whale's belly There's acid Stomach acid to be exact and when you're in there for three days, guess what that acid is doing to you It's probably marring you it's probably destroying your flesh So I don't want to read too much into it But just thinking about the fact that someone was in a whale's belly, you know when he went to Nineveh to preach unto them Partly the reason why he was so convincing is because the way he looked Right, he comes in he's like repent they're like, whoa. Yeah, we should Because I don't want to look like you, you know, I mean You know, I think I've heard of stories of people being swallowed by whales You know and they actually get bleached they come out and they look bleached because of the stomach acid Inside of that inside of that well, and so, you know three days and three nights in a literal whales belly You're gonna look a little different coming out Especially if you're vomited out I mean, come on Look what it says in verse 3 for thou has cast me into the deep in the midst of the season the floods Compassed me about all thy billows and thy waves passed over me Then I said I am cast out of thy sight yet I will look again toward thy holy temple The waters compassed me about even to the soul the depth closed me round about the weeds were wrapped about my head It's not about seaweeds probably, you know, it's probably something being wrapped up in seaweed I went down to the bottoms of the mountains the earth with her bars was about me forever Yet has thou brought up my life from corruption. Oh Lord my God now go to Matthew chapter 12 Matthew chapter number 12 Now we see we see that God hears that prayer he allows him to be vomited up he goes to nobody preaches and Even at the latter end of I mean the book of Jonah does not even finish well other than the fact that you know Nineveh repented Jonas still being a little buster, you know, he's mad at the gourd. He's upset and it just finishes By the way, it goes to show you that God is not necessarily all about happy endings all the time He's about showing people and how they really are he's like well that's how you want to be That's how I'm gonna write it for the rest of eternity Everyone's gonna know you're some guy who's just bitter just being a jerk. Okay You should have just rejoiced over the fact that all these people got saved and they got right with God But he's still complaining but you know what God still used that even in the midst of that look at Matthew chapter 12 verse 39 He says but he answered and said unto them and evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign and there shall no sign be given To it but the sign of the Prophet Jonas for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whales belly So shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, by the way That's a good verse for the Flat Earthers. Amen. The heart means the center of something, right? But it shows there is using Jonah as an example now This was a doctrine that I did not believe in time past as a safe person I did not believe that Jesus Christ went to hell and you say why didn't you believe that injury the Bible I did but I read it through preconceived ideas of what I was taught and it came to a point that when I was Not confronted, but when I when I started meditating upon this concept did Jesus Christ go to hell, you know I had to make the decision that he did simply for the fact that I was King James only and the King James Bible is the only Version they will say that Jesus Christ went to hell. Okay. It's the only one so Here's the the proposition that I have for those who don't believe that Jesus Christ went to hell and they think that it's heresy So are you King James only? because the Bible you're using if you're King James only says that Jesus went to hell according to Acts chapter number two and other portions of Scripture and so and not only that but this portion of scripture right here that we just read in comparison with the story in Jonah Shows that he actually went to hell and look Just put your pride aside your preconceived notions aside who cares what your alma mater Bible College said Who cares what they taught in those classes? Who cares what your preacher said if he's wrong he's wrong Yeah, but he was a lot a lot a lot longer than you and he's been in the ministry a lot longer than you But you know what? This book is thousands of years old so this book Trump's that pastor and He has the same Holy Spirit that I have and me, you know, who's from everlasting So, you know, we need to put those ideas aside and that's what I have to do and come to the conclusion Jesus Christ went to hell and look there's so many there's so much evidence of this in the Bible. It's it's it's ridiculous Now one of the the the most obvious ones is that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who should take away the sins of The world well in the Old Testament, what do they do? They burned the offering? Go to Leviticus chapter 16 I'm gonna read to you from Acts chapter 2 verse 29 says men and brethren Let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David that he is both dead and buried and his sepulchre is with us unto this Day therefore being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn With an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins according to the flesh He would raise up Christ to sin on his throne He's seen this before spake of the resurrection of Christ that his soul was not left in hell Neither his flesh did see corruption wife because it was only there for three days according to the Bible Ephesians 4 9 says now that he ascended what is it but that he also Descended first into the lower parts of the earth. So what is the sequence there? He went down first You say well, hold on a second. What about where it says, you know Where Jesus Christ tells the thief on the cross today thou shalt be with me in paradise, you know You know, well, first of all, it's not Abraham's bosom Okay Or the Abraham's bosom that they're thinking, you know, I don't know if if the thief went to actual Abraham's bosom He might have been in David's bosom Right. He went to heaven. He could have been around any other problem Solomon's bosom What's so special about Abraham? He was just there when you know when the the beggar went to heaven It could have been anyway anyone's bosom But it's not this compartment of hell where there's this great gold figs and it's just it's hot here, but it's not there It's weird it all comes from Jewish fables is what it is okay, the Sequence of events is that he descended first into the lower parts of the earth now Obviously, we don't believe that hell is paradise because no one calls hell paradise. All right, you're burning and fire and torment torments forever Here's the way you explain that is that he's God Okay, he's omni present. Okay. Now look at Leviticus chapter 16 in Verse number five it says and he shall take up the congregation of the children of Israel two kids referring to these animals of the goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering look at verse number nine and Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell and offer him for a sin offering So one is offered Okay, that burnt offering is offered and look what verse number 10 says but the goat on which the lot fell to be a scapegoat Shall be presented alive before the Lord to make an atonement with him and to let him go for a scapegoat into the Wilderness see that proves the omni presence of God at Jesus Christ death He went into hell, but guess what? He was also alive before the Lord. He's on that present He could be in heaven But also be suffering in hell according to the Bible Hey, look, the most obvious thing is this if you're to die and pay for yours your own sins Where would you go you go to hell? You'd be burning in hell. So in order for Jesus Christ to pay for our sins, you know, he would have to go to hell as Well, it's not hard to believe. Okay, you know, we just need to put our preconceived ideas away from us and look the reason I mentioned I mentioned that that that was a doctrine that I did not believe in times past is that why remember we started the church Who was there? I think Ulysses was there when I was talking to pastor Anderson over the phone and He I remember pastor Anderson. He you know, he took a risk. All right, and you guys took a risk, too Right. I remember someone told me. Yeah, I want to see if the church panned out first, you know Tyler Baker and all that stuff was taking place. I don't know about this guy I don't know who he is, but I remember you know pastor and he had already known me We've talked before he knew what I believed But before he actually made the decision he said, you know to even offer to start the church he says brother me here Is there anything? That you would disagree with me on and in doctrine anything And I was honest with him. I said, you know what at one point I did not believe that Jesus went to hell That's probably the only thing I said, but I do believe that now I said because I've made my own studies and I see what the Bible says about it and and I believe that I said and I said but really honestly anything else if it's something there's something I disagree with pastor Anderson on it's not necessarily very important It's not something that has to do with salvation or the Trinity. Okay. What do you believe about the Trinity? I believe what every Baptist has believe about the Trinity, you know since Here, okay You know every single believe, you know, obviously maybe there may be small things that we disagree on but it's not nothing Important and we've even discussed those disagreements and it's not and it's not anything important But as far as the the solid doctrine the most important things we agree on those things and I remember telling them that hey I didn't believe that at first but now I do and I told him because cuz I'm King James only and If to say I'm King James only and I believe that would make me a hypocrite Just like to be King James only believe in the pre-dribulation rapture. You're a hypocrite. Oh All right, oh No, now you're now you're going into this good. No, that's preference. No, it's not The pre-tribulation rapture came from some devil named John Nelson Darby Who made his own Bible? You know Schofield who promotes the the the pre-tribulation rapture in Zionism. He hated the King James Bible He wanted to use like the revised standard version or something He despised the King James Bible and this is these are the people you're getting that teaching from no If you're gonna be King James only you you would have to adhere to these doctrines Okay, and accept them now go to first Kings chapter number four first Kings chapter number four So that is a similarity also that we see of Jonah and Jesus Christ Example number eight and we just have a few more to go is Solomon Okay, Solomon is also a an example of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament Look at first Kings chapter 4 in verse number 29. It says in God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much and largeness of heart even as the sand that is on the seashore look at verse 30 and Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the East Country and of the wisdom of Egypt You'd have to turn there or I'm sorry go to Mark chapter 1 Mark chapter 1 I'm gonna continue reading first Kings 4 34 says and there came of all the people to hear the wisdom of Solomon From all kings of the earth which had heard of his wisdom So Solomon is the son of David and when God gave Solomon an opportunity to ask For anything that he wanted he didn't ask for the life of his enemies. He didn't ask for riches. He didn't ask for prosperity What did he ask for wisdom? To lead his people that's what he wanted He goes I want wisdom and understanding to lead your people and God saw it to be so Honorable that he not only gave them with a game of wisdom and understanding he gave him riches as well. Okay Great story there But his wisdom exceeded was was so excellent in the earth He was the wisest man that ever lived at that time even to the point that people from all around the world Were coming from every quarter to come here of the wisdom of Solomon primarily one of the most famous ones was the Queen of Sheba who when she she heard the wisdom of Solomon the Bible says that she had no more spirit in her She was like overwhelmed of the words that were coming out of his mouth now look at Mark chapter 1 in verse number 40 and says and there came a leper to him beseeching him and kneeling down to him saying unto him if thou wilt thou canst make me clean and Jesus moved with compassion put forth his hand and touched him and saith unto him I will be thou clean and as soon as he had spoken immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was cleansed and he Straightly charged him and forthwith sent him away and saith unto him see thou say nothing to any man But go thy way show thyself to the priest and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded for a testimony unto them But he went out and began to publish it much and to blaze abroad the manner Insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into that city But was without in desert places look what it says and they came to him from every quarter. Why because they wanted to hear him You even have people who like such as Pharisees and Sadducees and false prophets who would come to him Just to hear what he was gonna say Luke chapter 4 in verse number 21 it says and he began to say to him this day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears and I'll bear him witness and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth and they said is not this Joseph's son look at John chapter 7 John chapter 7 I'm a read to you from Mark chapter 1 verse 22 It says and they were astonished at his doctrine for he taught them as one that had authority and not as Described see Jesus Christ as a source of wisdom. And so it's no wonder that when he came to this earth He had a lot of wisdom flowing out of his mouth many gracious words Yeah, though though Solomon was one of the wisest men that ever lived Jesus Christ surpassed him Okay, look at John 7 46 the officers answered never man spake like this man And that includes who Solomon go to Matthew chapter 12 Matthew chapter 12 Matthew chapter 12 sums up this concept that we're looking at here in regards to Solomon and Jesus Christ Verse 42 says the queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation and shall condemn it For she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon and behold A greater than Solomon is here. That's powerful He's like man people were coming from everywhere just to hear this King But guess what? There's someone who's better than Solomon who was right standing right before you and he was right He had more wisdom than Solomon He's the one who gave was Solomon his wisdom and he was greater obviously, but we see though that that relation there now I'm gonna have to skip Jeremiah here because we're already at a time Let's see here. I should go to Jeremiah chapter 8. Let's look at a fun one I Think we have a little bit of time. If not, we'll make time you man By the way, we got burgers after the service something for you to look forward to you in there We do Mark's Mark's grilling right now Let me just give you a brief overview of some of the examples of Jeremiah Jeremiah wept over Jerusalem just as Jesus wept over Jerusalem The Bible tells us in Matthew 23 verse 37 Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem Thou that killest the prophets and stonest them which are sent unto thee How often would I have gathered thy children together even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings and ye would not Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet. He wept over in fact, you know, there's an entire book that he wrote called what? Lamentations it's all about lamenting. It's about weeping and mourning He was mourned. He was mourning over the sin of the nation there in the state that it was in They were both accused of sending themselves out the Bible says in journey enough to turn to Jeremiah 29 27 says now Therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth which maketh themself a prophet to you John 8 53 says are thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead and the prophets are dead who makest thou thyself You know, by the way, this is a commonality Even when any man of God steps on the scene people want to say that you know, oh you're sending yourself out Who are you? You know who sent you out? They did it to pastor Anderson and they did it to me too some person even on YouTube was willing to say make up This entire story that like I split the church and I just like left and you know without anyone's authority We started this church pastor Anderson started this church. In fact, this church is not even independent yet Okay It's a church plant. It's a satellite church now. It will become an independent Baptist Church Lord willing next August on my anniversary, but until then guess who's the pastor pastor Steven Anderson? And look that's you're not disrespecting me when you tell me that pastor Anderson. I know that already we agreed on that That was the established before this the foundation of the church So that's not a disrespectful thing. In fact, that's an honoring thing for me because it shows us that we're doing things the right way We're not just gonna go out and start a church like Tyler Doka who lied He said I was sent out by the no No You weren't you're started out as a church plant and then when your pastor found out that you're teaching the stupid Flat-tar doctrine they separated from you. You just did your own thing You weren't sent out that guy's not even ordained surprise, right? With this retarded doctrine, you know, you know this church is still look the name outside. It's called faithful word Baptist Church Okay, and so, you know a lot of people will want to say well who sent you out, you know They would say well pastor Anderson is a self-ordained Pat. No, he's not His old pastor from Regency Baptist Church ordained him And look to say that I was like I split the church they booted me out They booted me out and even in the church plant that I was at they're like, oh he split that sure He just left without anybody knowing they had a going-away party for me We got gift cards I have pictures We're just like Saying goodbyes and stuff like that Bunch of stinking tears. There's their liars You know, he just went out and did his own thing. No, he didn't you gave us a going-away party. There was a cake Involved when there's a cake involved. It's a going-away party So But that's what they did to Jeremiah and that's what they did to Jesus He was like who you know, who are dating you who sent you out who why who make it style thyself? But only that but they're and in both of their enemies try to catch them in their words We're just gonna go through these cuz these are I think they're good. Okay, Jeremiah chapter 20 verse 9 You have to turn this is then I said I will not make mention of him nor speak anymore in his name But his word was in my heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones and I was weird with forbearing I could not stay for I heard the defaming of many fear on every side Reports say they and we and we will report it all my familiars watch for my halting same prayer adventure He will be enticed and we shall prevail against them and we shall take our revenge on it So what does it say? We just want to catch him in his words is what they're trying to do Well, we see that with Jesus Okay, the Pharisees would come and try to catch him in his words and he would basically prevail against them when they try to bring Say who should we give tribute to and it's the same today? Our words are always being scrutinized on YouTube and we welcome it. I Don't care, you know, you know, you know you you you guys you guys cuss or whatever. It's like no We don't you think ass is a cuss word. That's in the Bible It's an animal You need a farm, you know Educational video or something to let you know what it is It's a donkey is what it is a mule You know people try to take our words and twist them and cause us to say all these other that's you know Do whatever you want, but you know if we're speaking the truth You can do nothing against the truth before the truth the Bible says so But here's the good one. Here's a cool one Actually before I get into that they're also as sheep before the slaughtered and then they both curse the Jews amen Look at Jeremiah chapter 8. That's the fun one verse 13 12 Says were they ashamed when they had committed abomination nay, they were not all at all ashamed neither. Could they blush Therefore shall they fall among them that fall in the time of their visitation. They shall be cast down saith the Lord I will surely consume them saith the Lord there shall be no grapes on the vine nor Figs on the tree the fig tree and the leaf shall fade and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them Matthew 21 18 says now in the morning as he returned into the city he hungered And when he saw a fig tree in the way He came to it and found nothing thereon but leaves only and said unto it let no fruit grow on thee from henceforth Forever and presently the fig tree withered away. What is the fig tree is Judaism? So he cursed it Jeremiah cursed it. So did Jesus good similarity. All right now Go to Daniel chapter number five Daniel chapter number five By the way in John and I believe it's in John chapter four where Jesus Christ is casting out the The money changers he actually quotes Jeremiah. So he's quoting Jeremiah in that in that portion of Scripture. We're gonna skip job I was gonna go through job and how he was an innocent man who was Smitten of God in a sense. He was afflicted and the Bible tells us in Isaiah 53 of Jesus Christ He was also smitten of God and afflicted He had borne our grief and sorrow and you think of a man other than Jesus Christ who had more sorrow Job is a perfect picture of that. He suffered a lot of anguish and sorrow just as Jesus Christ did as well But the last example that I want to give is Daniel Daniel now, there's a lot of similarities with Daniel and Jesus Christ But primarily is that obviously both of them were above reproach Daniel and Joseph in the Bible are two characters. You can't really look at anything bad that they did You know, you can see a different prophets like David Solomon a lot of the Kings Even Moses these people who were great men of God, but they had a lot of errors. They had a lot of blemishes They were just human and I'm not saying that Daniel and Joseph were sinless but for some reason or another God chose not to highlight those weaknesses in their personal lives and Maybe one of the reasons to to provide a picture of who Jesus Christ was Daniel was above reproach look at Daniel chapter 5 verse 11 It says there is a man in thy kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods and in the days of thy father Light and understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods was found in him whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father the king I say thy father made master of the magicians Astrologers Chaldeans and soothsayers for as much as an excellent spirit and knowledge and understanding Interpreting of dreams and showing of hard sentences and dissolving doubts were found in the same Daniel whom the king name Beltesh Azar now let Daniel be called and he will show the interpretation now Go to Hebrews chapter number four I'm a read to you from 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 where the Bible reads for he hath made him to be sin for us who? Knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him So we understand that Daniel was not sinless But we don't see Daniel sinning in these portions of scriptures that God placed in the Bible That doesn't mean he didn't sin just God chose not to highlight that in a sense Just as Jesus Christ was a man who was without sin Hebrews chapter 4 verse 15 says for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling feelings of our infirmities But was in all points tempted like as we are yet without Sin now go back to Daniel chapter 6. I want to show you this is the last point here is That both Daniel and Jesus Christ were men of prayer Okay, that's what I want to finish off on here Daniel chapter 6 they were both people of prayer and This goes to show us that prayer should be an important aspect of our personal lives Okay, the Bible tells us pray without ceasing in first first Thessalonians chapter number 5 and that doesn't mean like kneel down every single day you know throughout the day and just pray it just means have a prayer life a good example of that is Nehemiah as He's standing before the king He's answering the king and the Bible records his thoughts and his thoughts are prayers unto the Lord Well, that's a good template for us to go by as we're living our day-to-day lives. You don't have to You know, you'd have to do all that sometimes you could even have a conversation and just pray with us within yourself Okay, you know we see the the Pharisee doing that in in in the Gospels He was doing the wrong thing the right way, you know, he was praying thus within himself But he was praying a bunch of mabber jabber Look at Daniel chapter 6 in verse number 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed he went into his house and his windows were being opened in his chamber toward Jerusalem He kneeled upon his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God as he did Afford time now go with me if you would to Matthew chapter 26 So Daniel's a man's man Why is that because in the face of adversity when it was illegal for him to pray to his God guess what he did? He prayed three times a day anyways You know, it goes to show us that hey doesn't matter what anybody say it says we need to obey God rather than man Okay, that's the principle there, but he bows and he prays Three times a day now look at the look at Matthew chapter 26 in verse 36 It says then come with Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane and say it unto the disciples see ye here Well, I go and pray yonder and he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and very heavy Then saith he unto them my soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death Terry here and watch with me and he went a little further and fell on his face and prayed saying oh my father if it Be possible let this cup pass from me Nevertheless not as I will but as thou wilt and he cometh unto his disciples and finding them asleep and saith unto Peter What could you not watch with me one hour watch and pray they enter not into temptation the spirit indeed is willing But the flesh is weak He went away again the second time and prayed saying oh my father if this cup may not pass away from me Except I drink it thy will be done and he came and found them asleep again for their eyes were heavy Verse 20 excuse me verse 44 and he left him and went away again and prayed the third time saying the same Words then cometh he to the disciples and saith unto them sleep on now and take your rest Behold the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners So what do we see here in a time of great trial Daniel prays three times a day in time of great trial and affliction What does Jesus Christ do he praised three times now? I'm not saying you ought to pray three times I'm just showing the relation the similarity between Daniel and Jesus Christ one prayed three times a day when it was told that he couldn't do that Another one who's Jesus Christ in the time of affliction prayed three times. You see that similarity there And so what's the sermon tonight? The sermon is simply this is that we can search the scriptures and see Jesus Christ on every page Not just on every page, but in every person's life even as someone as just stubborn and arrogant as Jonah We can see an example of Jesus Christ in that person how gracious God is and that ought to show us as well that hey We need to make sure that we exemplify Christ in our personal lives as well Okay, and try as best as we can to express those attributes of Christ in us the hope of glory Amen, let's go ahead and bow our heads and have a word of prayer follow me. Thank you so much for your goodness Thank you for your word And I thank you so much for these great men of God and and we're thankful that these were men of like passions We know that they had mistakes and failures But even in the midst of those mistakes and failures you still use them in a great way To exemplify attributes of our Savior and I pray that you'd help us to do the same as well And I may bless the meal to follow in the fellowship as well and in Jesus name we pray. Amen
