I my cross have taken All the other on that first verse No Oh Oh Oh Oh Amen wonderful sing at this time The ushers will come forth to collect the offering and you can turn in your Bibles to Titus chapter number two You You You Good evening tonight, we're in Titus chapter 2 and the Bible reads But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine that the aged men be sober grave Temperate sound in faith and charity and patience the age of women Likewise that they be in behavior has become with holiness not false accusers not given a much wine teachers of good things That they may teach the young women to be sober to love their husbands to love their children to be discreet chaste Keepers at home good obedient to their own husbands that the Word of God be not blasphemed Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded and all things showing thyself a pattern of good works to doctrine showing Uncorruptness gravity sincerity sound speech that cannot be condemned That he that is of a contrary part may be ashamed having no evil thing to say of you Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters and it pleased them. Well in all things not answering again Not purloin but showing all good fidelity that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts We should live soberly righteously and godly in his present world Looking for that blessed Hope and the glorious appearing of the great God of our Savior Jesus Christ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from All iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people zealous of good works These things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Let's pray dear Lord God Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day Lord and we thank you for this church you've given us Lord and we pray right now that you fill pastor with your Holy Spirit and Bless him as he preaches your word Lord and bless this time We have and bless the rest of our time together Lord and pray this all in Jesus name. Amen Okay, man, we're in Titus chapter number two look down into Bibles at verse number nine It says exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters Excuse me and to please them. Well in all things not answering again Not purloining But showing all good fidelity that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in All things and the title of sermon this evening is making doctrine attractive making doctrine Attractive hold your place there in Titus We're gonna come back to that in just a bit and go to Psalm chapter 19 if you would Psalm chapter 19 making doctrine Attractive now, let me say this is that I'm not saying that doctrine in and of itself is not attractive because of the fact that when you study the Word of God We see over and over again that the men of God of the Bible Saw a delight to read God's Word to study God's Word to proclaim God's Word The commandments of God are naturally beautiful. Amen. They're they're comely. They're beautiful They're they are delights um, and especially to the believer. Okay, even unsaved people out there They love reading the King James Bible because it's a literary masterpiece But even more so than that save people love to read the Word of God the commandments of God are not grievous unto them They delight to read it. It's like honey to them. They're like rubies and gold. It's a precious thing It's beautiful spiritually speaking in our sight And so obviously what I'm saying here is not that we're gonna beautify the Word of God because the Word of God is already beautiful Amen, but look what it says here in Psalm 19 verse number 7 It says here the law of the Lord is perfect Converting the soul the testimony of the Lord is sure Making wise the simple the statutes of the Lord are right rejoice in the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure Enlightening the eyes the fear of the Lord is clean and during forever The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous all together more to be desired a day than gold Yet in much fine gold sweeter also than honey in the honeycomb Moreover by them as thy servant warn and in keeping of them there is great reward so over and over again We see that God compares his word to gold to fine gold to honey More than the honeycomb more than rubies and jewels and all the treasures of this world You know the Word of God is far more beautiful than those things I mean you think of some of the most expensive jewelry that exists out there Okay, some of the things that you would look at and say wow, that's a beautiful diamond. That's a beautiful Ruby That is a a beautiful looking piece of jewelry, you know, we as Christians could look at the Word of God and say wow That's even more beautiful than the most beautiful diamond, you know The commandments of God are far more sweeter than all the sweetest sweetness of the honey that exists out in this world The Word of God is perfect It says in Proverbs 8 verse 8 all the words of my mouth are in righteousness wisdom speaking here There is nothing forward or perverse in them So when we think of the Word of God as being beautiful, we're saying that it is it's it's it's deficient of any ugliness Okay, there's nothing perverse about the Word of God. It's pure. It's clean This is why we should never be ashamed of what God's Word says. Amen We should never be ashamed of its concepts of its doctrines of the words that it uses Even words that the world would consider today as being cuss words or something You know, you say the word ass and then I can't believe he said that, you know But the Word of God uses that word, you know We talk about the concept of hell and people think that that's like a cuss word or something folks The Bible uses that word the Bible talks about bastards And people often say well, you know, you shouldn't be so crude crude and and use those words But the Word of God uses those words and the words of the Lord are pure words They're clean words. And in fact, I would even go as far as to say that it is a sinful thing It's simple to say that those words are unclean It's actually sinful to say oh, you know, yeah I know the Word of God uses the word bastard or I know the Word of God uses the word pisseth and all these other Words, but you know what today in modern society, those are unclean words Who cares what modern society says modern society is wrong the majority of the time Modern society always goes against the grain of what God's Word says so we don't need to go to the world to help us You know define what beauty is According to God's Word, you know if the Word of God is beautiful or not. No, you know, we need the Holy Spirit We need God we need his word and all we need is to know that because the Word of God is perfect because it's complete It's without error. It's inerrant. Therefore. It's beautiful. Okay? It's not deficient of anything verse 11 of Proverbs 8 says for wisdom is better than rubies And all the things that they that may be desired are not to be compared to it and in Proverbs 8 God is basically saying hey, you should search for the knowledge of God The way you would search for hidden treasure You know if I were to tell you hey, there's a million dollars buried I don't know how deep but pretty deep in your backyard You would spend hours and hours Trying to excavate and dig and dig and dig until you found that million dollars or whatever Well, what if I told you there's just an insurmountable amount of gold in your backyard I don't know how deep it is, but it's pretty deep and if you just come keep digging you will find it Well God's saying here you should have a greater fervor for excavating the treasures of the Word of God more than any physical treasure Why because wisdom is better than rubies and All things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. You can't compare gold to it You can't compare diamonds to it. You can't compare. I don't know whatever precious stones there are out there You can't compare any of it to it because the Word of God is priceless Okay, the Bible says in Psalm 119 verse 18 open down mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law so if someone's out there if there's a Christian out there that doesn't Esteem the Word of God as being beautiful. It's not the Bible's fault If there's someone out there who says well, I don't view it like you do that's a little too excessive You know, I don't really like the Word of God that much or I don't think it to be that interesting Well, it's not the you know, the problem is not that the Word of God is not wondrous It's not wonderful is is that their eyes aren't open Because there's a specific prayer that God says open down mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law And a side point here is that if you ever feel like you're getting apathetic towards the Word of God You need to pray Lord open my eyes Then I may behold wondrous things out of thy law If you ever get to a point where you're reading the Word of God, and it just seems monotonous It just seems like you know Drudgery or you're just doing out of a chore and you're not as into it as you used to be you need to pray Lord Open my eyes Then I may behold wondrous things out of thy law because the Word of God is not lost its value It's not lost its beauty. It's just that our eyes are not open. Okay to behold it Now here's the thing though. So obviously the Word of God is beautiful. It's attractive you read it. It's perfect It's inerrant. I mean everything is in its place But as beautiful as God's Word is God actually wants us to accentuate The Word of God. Okay. He wants us to make it attractive go back to Titus if you would Titus chapter 2 It says in verse number 10 not purloin, but showing all good fidelity That they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things so Paul is telling Titus. Hey, you need to make sure you do all these things from verses 1 or Command that the people in the church do from verses 1 up and through 10 why because by doing so they're actually adorning The doctrine of Christ they are Accentuating the beauty that already exists there. They're basically bringing it out for people to see that. Okay now Let me give you a couple ways that people you know, some things that people do to try to make the Bible attractive Okay, and I remember reading this and I would discuss this with the pastor friend of mine This is years ago before I was in a new IFP This is when I was like in Bible college, and I remember, you know, we would talk about this and he would tell me Well when the Bible says adorn the doctrine of Christ that's referring to like your delivery of your sermon You know, you got to have all these bells and whistles and you got to you know, use all these types of illustrations It's got to be like story time. You got to be very interesting. That's how you adorn the doctrine of Christ, but that's actually false Okay Because here's the thing is that a preacher can get up who's not necessarily as exciting or as bombastic But if they're preaching God's Word, it's still very much attractive Because God's Word is beautiful. No matter what if someone's preaching it. It's always gonna be attractive It's always gonna be beautiful, but there are ways there are unbiblical ways that people try to make the Bible attractive Let me give you some number one by leaving out the negative aspects of the Bible People tried there's churches and pastors out there They will try to make the Bible attractive by literally leaving out negative aspects of the Bible They want to make it palatable for their church palatable for the world Palatable for their friends. So in order to do that they think well, I can't show them Leviticus 2013. I Can't read through Romans 1 Oh God forbid that you would read through Psalm 139 You know cuz that would make the Bible unattractive. No false you fool Don't leave things out of the Bible. Hey the negative things there You're basically saying that God made a mistake by putting those negative things there You're basically telling God, you know what you don't really know what beauty is you don't know what people really want Let me just show people the palatable aspects of the Bible because that's the only way that people are gonna like What you say God, that's basically what they're saying and you know what liberal churches are notorious for this They subtract from the Word of God all the time. Okay, they don't like going through the negative aspects of the Bible Why because in their mind they're like, well, we got to make it attractive and palatable To the audience, you know if they find out what God really thinks If they found out about Genesis 19 If they found out about judges 19 Not just Psalm 23, oh Man, people would lose it. They would lose interest in the Word of God That's what they think So they think the way they can make the Bible palatable and attractive to the masses is by removing the negative Aspects of the Bible but the Bible says this in Jeremiah 26 verse 2 you don't have to turn there Go to go with me if you would to Go to Matthew chapter 5 if you would Matthew chapter 5 Jeremiah 26 verse 2 says thus saith the Lord Stand in the court of the Lord's house and speak unto all the cities of Judah Which come to worship in the Lord's house all the words that I command thee to speak unto them diminish not a word So God tells Jeremiah I want you to preach this sermon I want you to preach the Word of God and make sure you don't diminish anything from that message What does it mean to diminish, you know, take away a little piece here a little piece there Jeremiah coming to the it's like Jeremiah coming to you know, Judah and just removing the judgments the fact that wrath was gonna fall upon Judah God saying don't diminish anything and let me say this this commandment still stands today folks Or God says preach the word be instant in season and out of season reprove rebuke Exhort with all long-suffering in doctrine. Oh wait, but you know what today you have pastors who only exhort with all long-suffering in doctrine And what do they do they diminish the reproving and the rebuking of God's Word, but you need both Well, how are we supposed to reach people like that? Well, where did it say in order to reach people? How are we gonna how are people gonna be reached does God say, you know, hey Preach this because it's gonna reach a bunch of people No, we should preach it because it honors God and that's what God commands us to do By the way, we reach people by preaching the gospel That's our reach people by getting people safe Okay And whether that person wants to come to church or not and hear God's Word and actually delve into the negative things of the Bible That's up to them, but we don't diminish a word to try to make the Bible look more attractive. Okay, what's another way? Well, another way is this by downplaying the commandments of God. Oh, that's not you know Leviticus 20 13 it's not really what he meant He didn't really mean like stone them with stones You know their blood should be upon me. He didn't really mean that You know the death penalty in the Old Testament that's not really what he meant by that. What do they do? They're trying to make the Bible palatable for people. And so what they'll do is they'll try to change the meaning of verses You know And I've had a ton of people approach me online and say hey you're taking that verse out of context When it says that they shall be put to death, it doesn't really mean be put to death It's like well define for me then what does it mean to be put to death? Did death spiritually You know, like how do you do, you know, I uploaded this This reel. Okay, because you know, we live in a society where everyone just gets offended for every single thing You just breathe and people get offended Literally because without a mask, you know, he's like how dare you breathe without a mask But I uploaded this this this reel And the reel was simply it's it's like no words. Like I'm not saying anything I'm, literally not saying anything. I'm just looking into the camera and the caption read verses that your pastor will probably never preach from Part one Because i'm gonna make a series of it you know And it got like 26 000 views or something like that and it's literally like four or five verses from the book of psalms And it's like, you know, it's psalm 5 psalm 139, but literally all I did was post the verses. That was it So I put psalm 5 I put psalm 139. I put all these negative verses from the book of psalms It was literally it was like four or five verses and then the video ends. It's only a couple seconds long So no audio for me. I'm not speaking. I literally just walk up to the phone I look at it. I cover it up and then the verses pop up, you know, because I'm, you know Trying to make it like theatrical or something And literally people were like you're taking those out of context And I told him I didn't say anything How could I be taking something out of context if I didn't say anything I said I literally didn't even interpret the verses I literally there's no commentary on the verses There's no hey, this means this it's just the verses and the guy got on there. Just like oh, yeah You're you're saying that out of context Uh, it's literally only the text Because context means with text Con you know like in spanish so it's like it's only the text but this guy is such a sissy The guy is so offended the guy is so such a weakling that the word have got offensive Just the words on the screen offended him so much that he just had to attack me and say oh you're taking this out of context Oh, i'm sorry for just posting verses I literally just posted a verse and that's what's causing you to stumble. Okay, but why is that? Well because of the fact that the culture in mainstream christianity today Is that well whenever you see something negative in the bible it has to mean something else You know when when it says thou hatest all workers of iniquity it can't mean That he hates all workers of iniquity How would you even think that it has to mean something else And in their minds they're thinking oh man if I bring that verse to people and show them psalm five five They're not going to want the word of god. It's not going to be attractive to them No, we need to make it attractive. So let's go ahead and change the meaning of psalm five five Thou hatest all workers of iniquity. It means like he hates the devil or something like that You know psalm 139, you know, it's only david speaking of his heart You know, that's that's another thing that someone said you're taking out of context because this is actually david just pouring out his heart Unto the lord. Yeah by the inspiration of the holy ghost You know if this was an imagination out of david's own heart then the holy spirit probably wouldn't have put it in there But he did So yeah, david was used to pen those words, but guess who approved it the holy ghost approved it Because holy men of god spake as they were moved by the holy ghost You don't think the holy ghost would have impeded him from writing that and said don't write that that's not my word No, he inspired him David was inspired by god to pen down psalm 139 But people today well, that's that's gonna offend people. Yeah. Well, duh. I mean Yeah, the bible's offensive sometimes. Okay. What are the wrong ways that people try to make? Uh how they try to make the bible attractive they leave out negative aspects of the bible, you know, they subtract from it They downplay the commandments of god You know, oh it doesn't mean like to death it means like die spiritually or something well that too you could apply that too But you know, the devil is the first one to actually downplay the commandments of god. Yea hath got set He should not surely die He didn't really mean that you're gonna die die But it didn't mean that they were gonna die die They're gonna die physically and spiritually, okay But what are what are some other ways that people will try to make the bible How people try to make the bible attractive number three by just not quoting it He said what do you mean by that well often people will quote other people and ascribe it to god's word Because the bible sometimes is just too offensive. So, you know who they have to quote gandhi Love the sinner hate the sin. I mean that that verse Is more memorized By christians, unfortunately, then maybe even romans 5 8 is Find me 10 christians who can quote psalm 5 8 outside of this church in other denominations or something You know, but I guarantee you I can go to probably any christian and just say love the sinner finish that And they'll say hate the sin Even though it was quoted by gandhi who is burning it out today So And so, you know, but you know, why do they use that because here's the thing I've quoted verses where the bible talks about hatred and ye that love the lord hate evil And people christians will actually quote gandhi And then you show them that was gandhi sign the bible You know and have you even had people say the bible teaches to love the sinner hate the sin You know and I was like the bible does not teach that You're getting that from somewhere else. You're getting that from actually a pervert Because gandhi was a pervert Sorry folks, but not sorry The guy was a stinking filthy pervert who took showers with girls multiple In order to cause himself to abstain from the fleshly lusts or whatever and that's and that's who christians are quoting Me As in ascribing that concept to god's word, why did they do that because they want the bible to be attractive And if they really showed what the bible actually said, you know, that would offend a lot of people. Well, you know, we're here Not necessarily to offend people but you know We're here to preach god's word and if it offends people if they stumble at the stumbling stone, that's not our fault Okay Look at matthew 5 verse 43. Ye have heard that have been said thou shall love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy Now who is jesus actually quoting? Well, he's not quoting the bible Hate thine enemies not something that god instituted in the old testament. This is something that the pharisees were pushing forth To hate their enemies and hate the goyems and treat them like trash and their cattle and all these things, you know That's where they got it from So he's saying ye have heard that has been said thou shall love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy But I say unto you I being the word of god Jesus speaking love your enemies bless them that curse you do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you And persecute you go to second timothy chapter two and verse 15 second timothy chapter two So people will try to make the bible palatable by You know subtracting from it They would do it by not quoting it. They'll do it. They'll do it by downplaying the commandments of god because they're like embarrassed of god's word But number four they'll also do it by misapplying it, okay What do I mean by that? Well, what they'll do is they'll take verses. They'll just pick random verses from the bible sometimes And apply it to things that it just has nothing to do with Okay, i'll give you an example like deuteronomy 22 4 i'm talking about You know the bird and taking the egg and releasing the bird and all these things people try to use that for like animal rights Or something Oh god, you know, he cares for the oxen No, he doesn't care for the oxen. And the only reason he would tell us to care for the oxen is because for our sakes Not for the animal's sake Now we obviously understand that god doesn't want us to be cruel to animals or anything like that I don't think that's corrected to be cruel to animals, but when people try to put animals on a pedestal Okay, almost as the same importance as human beings and they try to use the bible to back that up that's sinful that's wrong You're misapplying it. Okay I saw someone post, uh, it was a calendar and and it had a verse but it was quoting satan It's like all I will give thee if that will bow down and worship me or something But this is what happens when people Will take just random verses like Oh, that's inspirational You know, hey quote judas that did that or quote jesus talking to judas that did that do us do us quickly That's motivating, isn't it? Well, let's talk about him going to go hang himself and kill himself Okay, and and betray the son of god, of course You know But people will try to make the bible palatable by just misapplying it. They'll just take some inspirational verse from the bible Not even read it in context Right and apply it to something that just has nothing to do with what the word of god says now Let me say this the bible does have a lot of inspirational verses in there Beautiful inspirational verses the book of psalms has beautiful inspirational verses all the bible has it but sometimes people don't even go to those They go to something that they think, you know, but his arm is stretched out still Still From isaiah, you know, if you read that in isaiah, it's like his arm is stretched out still It's almost like this picture of god's always willing to give you a second chance But when you read it in context his arm is stretched out stills means he's like he's whooping He's like you think i'm done with you. My arm is stretched out still I'm still spanking you i'm still chastising you but people always his arm is stretched out still Ours is like his arm is stretched out still and then bam So Misapplying verses happens all the time Why because they're trying to make the bible palatable for people? Look at verse 15 study to show thyself approved unto god. Hey, you know read the context of those verses Before you put your your your inspirational quote of the month A workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth, but shun profane and vain babblings For they will increase into more ungodliness And their word will eat as doth a canker of whom is hymenaeus and philitis who concerning the truth have aired Saying that the resurrection is passed already and overthrow the faith of some so these guys were not These guys are like the first preterists of the new testament They were teaching that the resurrection was passed already, which is exactly what preterists teach Why because they did not rightly divide the word of truth. They were misapplying the scriptures And so they messed up go to second corinthians chapter three Second corinthians chapter three and then we're going to go back to titus chapter two second corinthians chapter three Title of the sermon is making doctrine attractive. We don't have to do all these gimmicks and apologize for god's word And and try to misapply it or diminish from it or you know, try to excuse the commandments of god We should just stand on god's word and say every single one of the commandments of god is beautiful The word is beautiful we delight in it it's wonderful it's pure it's clean it's perfect It's an errant. It's beautiful And i'd say yeah, it's beautiful, but there's some ugly parts There's some there, you know, there's some dysmorphia and within the the bible some defects You know, there's some things in there that just uh, no, it's all good All of god's good. All of his judgments are great You notice that when god talks about his word, he talks about it like his statutes his precepts his testimonies and his what judgments He's not just trying to use fillers to explain what god's word is. What is a judgment? It's like his punishments Right when he judge when you judge something Well, the bible is filled with god's judgments Where he judges and destroys people and lands and cities God says the judgments are beautiful They're wonderful I mean read revelation chapter 16 Where the angels are just singing the praise of god's judgment because pouring blood upon the entire world. He's shedding blood He's like, this is great. This is wonderful Because god makes no mistakes folks And if he judges something Who's to say that wasn't right? He shouldn't have done that. No, our reaction should be god. That judgment is perfect Right you have equity You have righteousness you you're you're you're perfectly balanced and everything you do the judge of all the earth will do right Look at second corinthians chapter three Verse number one says do we begin again to commend ourselves or need we have some other epistles? Of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you look what it says here in verse two. Ye are our epistle written in our hearts Known and read of all men now, we obviously understand an epistle is a letter but more specifically An epistle can be considered god's word, right? So when he says he are our epistles, he's basically telling the church of corinth. You are the representation of god's word Known and read of all men. That's what he's telling him go back to go to titus if you would Now the epistles of paul the epistles of peter none of these are defective they're perfect they're beautiful right because it's god's word but here's the thing sometimes the messenger of that epistle does have some defects And this is why god tells uh, or the apostle paul under the inspiration of the holy ghost tells titus to adorn the doctrine of god Okay, how do you do that? Well, look at titus chapter 2 In titus chapter chapter 1 2 and 3 what we see is the apostle paul leaving titus on the island of crete to ordain pastors and They're meant to go there He's meant to go there and teach and preach and train the people in the church how to be functioning members of society How to live civilly and how to behave themselves in the house of god. It's very similar to what we see in first and second timothy But in titus chapter 2 he begins to address specific people groups in the church and he tells them how to behave themselves Now, why does he do that? Well because of the fact that They're going to be the epistles Known in red of all men in the island of crete You say where are you going with this? Well, here's the thing, you know, our doctrine is beautiful because it's god's word, right? It's perfect And you know, I'm very much proud of the reparative doctrine I love the end times bible prophecy I love once saved always saved. I love all these doctrines and none of them are deficient of anything, right? But I want other people to like them too though You get what i'm saying like we never want to be this kind of church it's like it's us for no more We want other people to like these doctrines We want other people to embrace these doctrines we want them to love them and to behold The wondrous things out of god's law We want them to appreciate the doctrine the way we appreciate them to not be ashamed of these doctrines the way we're not ashamed You know, we can be in public and just talk about the reparative doctrine. Like it's nothing it's not like, you know Just faggots, you know, like they're going to hell, you know, it's not something we're ashamed of we talk about it freely And we want people to view the word of god in such a way where they're not ashamed of god's word either, okay But here's the thing, you know right off the bat. Sometimes people don't really Understand or behold the beauty of god's word right off the bat You know because their mind is filled with junk. It's filled with all this nonsense and philosophy of this world They need their minds to be renewed So what god says here is that a way that we can help people Or, you know to to love the word of god and to behold the beauty is by adorning the word of god Okay, and i'll give you a rough example of this. Okay This is not the best example But this it's it's a decent example and it kind of illustrates what i'm trying to say here, you know, for example, let's say A a a wife, okay You know if she doesn't have any makeup To her husband. She's beautiful still Right like she doesn't need makeup to be beautiful. She's beautiful the way she is right Now if she were to add a little bit of makeup on it would just probably accentuate her beauty a little more But if you remove that makeup, she's still beautiful right But adding a little bit of makeup probably accentuates that you understand You say I don't like that illustration. Well, I mean i'm just You can see the parallel though, can't you? Because the word of god is beautiful But yet god is still saying adorn the doctrine of god though It's not because it's deficient of anything it's not because it's ugly It's because he wants it to be palatable for those who are new to god's word. You understand Now the way we make it palatable is not the way these idiots do it By diminishing from it and taking away from it And you know keeping your wife in the house and never making making sure no one in this world ever sees your wife ever again You know just doing all these plastic surgery adding to it Right, you know because isn't there people out there who like do their nose or something like that or you know They'll uh, I was gonna say they tattooed their eyebrows, but that was like in the 90s, you know, they'll do all these crazy things To try to make themselves beautiful when they're already beautiful, right? What i'm saying is god specifically says the way you accentuate the beauty of god's word is by your behavior Because what he's addressing in titus chapter two is the behavior There's no deficiency in god's word, there's only a deficiency in your behavior So sometimes you know you go to your family you're trying to tell them about the reprobate doctrine or something Your safe family and they're just like oh you're a cult You gotta go to a cult or something like that. But here's the thing though. It's probably not the doctrine that they have a problem with It's probably your just your your prideful arrogant attitude Right Right Amen Hey, I mean I was guilty of that too You know when I was a young babe in christ, you know, sometimes it's the behavior of the messenger That puts off people from god's doctrine So he's saying adorn the doctrine of god make sure you you dress it up a little bit You know don't take away from it. Don't don't make that girl get a plastic surgery or something like that She doesn't need a tummy tuck She doesn't need for you to remove, you know, the the other chin or whatever She doesn't need for you to like mess with the body. It's it's it's great as it is the woman is beautiful as this You Need to fix you You need to change your behavior This is how you adorn the doctrine of god Okay Let's look at it. Titus chapter 2 Talk about making doctrine attractive He says in verse number one, but speak thou the things which become sound doctrine Look what it says here that the aged men be sober grave temperate sound in faith and charity in Patience so he addresses the aged men. Those are the older guys in the church. Okay, not me Agent man is like brother albert, you know what I mean? Got you Brother will all right, who else is an aged man? Hey, don't be ashamed of your age Okay, yeah brother eddie, right? These are the aged men. All right, anybody else want to volunteer another person? Hey I'm gonna be 36 this year. That means i'm four years away from 40. Yeah, and I don't look it But i'm about to be aged soon But imagine this, you know that this young guy titus He has to preach to the aged men and say sir. You have to be sober You need to be grave and temperate Be sound in faith in charity and impatience. Hey be temperate don't be wrestling in church Can you be a temper person and not be not like armbar someone in church and hurt someone in the church aged man Hey aged man, can you act your age? Be grave be sober be temperate be sound in faith have love in your heart. Okay have charity and be patient So these are all behavioral things, right When he says be sober be grave in other words be serious take the christian life serious You know, the christian life shouldn't be a joke to you. Whereas sometimes you're in church. Sometimes you're not sometimes you read the word of god sometimes you don't it's just the kind of The the christian life becomes like a jesting festival for you Where it's just you don't really take it very serious. God wants us to take the christian life serious folks Soul winning is serious reading your bible and praying is serious leading your family is serious Church is serious. Amen Now this is not to say that we can't laugh because the bible encourages laughing. I mean god laughs Okay But he's saying the age of men should be temperate. They should be sound in faith You know There shouldn't be men in the church who are just tossed to and fro carried about with every wind of doctrine By the sleight of men and cutting craft in this whereby they lie awake to deceive You know age and men should be established in the faith They should have charity and they should be patient they should be losing their temper Amen I mean, why don't you say like we as young men, you know, we as young men We tend to lose our we can lose our temper very easily sometimes, right? We just let it fly and just like just go off on someone. Well, god actually expects that as you grow older That you're a little more patient. You're slow to anger You know your fuse gets a little longer You ever met someone with a short fuse Okay. Well god expects you as you grow older to grow that fuse a little longer Why because that way you that's how you adorn the doctrine of god But if your family and your friends constantly see you just losing your temper you have no charity you're tossed to and fro You're not sober-minded. You're constantly in church out of church. You're not really taking the things that got serious You're not really adorning that doctrine that you're putting forth, you know The doctrine of forsaking not the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is You're not really practicing what your priest now are you So he tells the aged men hey make sure you have these things together be sound in faith charity patience verse three The aged women likewise. I wonder how he actually did this. I want to talk to the aged women right now like You know, like how did that work? aged women older women likewise By the way, I want you to notice that the aged women have more instructions than the men Did you guys notice that Three verse three four and five I mean we only got one verse I'm just i'm just putting that out there. I'm just saying Aged women likewise that they be in behavior as become as holiness Not false accusers in spanish we would say chismosas What's a false accuser someone was just accusing people falsely just flip it around What was that You aged men False accusers So, you know older women should not be going around gossiping to other people in the church about other people in the church Accusing other pastors Accusing other churches getting becoming busybodies tattlers, right? That's not what they should be involved in Not false accusers he says so if they're not a false accuser, what are they supposed to be doing bearing witness to the truth? Shutting people down who are false accusers Not giving too much wine, this is not referring to alcohol by the way, okay wine here is referring to juice And he said not giving too much wine. You shouldn't be just living in luxury lavishly He says teacher of good teachers of good things. Oh That's why we can have sunday school teachers and women preachers it says teachers of good things you can have yourself a podcast Right Well, they teach good things You know give them a platform is that what it's referring to no Verse four that they may teach the young women to be sober by the way, look When it says teachers of good things, it's referring to sitting next to a sister in church And we'll see here and teaching her to love her husband You need to love your husband Make sure you love him cook his favorite meal Do the things that please him Let me show you how to have a happy marriage That's teaching the younger women Not like okay This dj, you know, we're just gonna bring some woman up here Some prophetess And start preaching a five-point sermon On how to be a good wife No, this is referring to like discipleship You understand Hey women are able to disciple other ladies in the church. We encourage that. That's a good thing. Amen And and what do they do? They sit next to each other? You know when when the guys are wrestling on the foyer, you know the ladies they all They all kind of get together and they talk And they kind of encourage one another I'm gonna be saying it like the whole sermon Yeah He says that they may teach the younger women to be sober look what it says to love their husbands That's a good thing to teach. Amen Why is it saying? Why is he telling tytus? Hey teach the women the older women the aged women to love their husbands because he's teaching them how to have a good marriage Wants them to have a good marriage He says love your husbands Be there for your husband be your husband's cheerleader. Love them to love their children Right Teach them how to love the lord how to love the word of god so the responsibility the behavior of the aged women Is not to go on youtube some youtube comment section And just blast pastors I I miss that ministry in the bible folks I can anybody point out the ministry of correcting pastors in the bible for women I mean you won't even find that for men Let alone women, but you know, there's women out there in youtube land that feels their responsibility to defend their husbands Right folks Go on all my I have Thousands of videos you can go on all my videos. You'll never find sarah mahia on that comment section Me Defending me get him sarah What is that You'll never find my wife Defending me online Why because it's because i'm a dude i'm like i'm a man Yeah He said why isn't she doing that because she's making my meals She's ironing my shirts She's you know, washing my clothes You know, she's taking care of our four kids She's homeschooling She's she's doing my keto numbers She's doing all that other stuff so that I could respond on youtube Amen I'm talking about as a pastor, by the way Look as a pastor. I should be able to fight my battles Now if my pastor friends want to jump in with me and fight with me Amen, but you know what? I fight my own battles folks. Someone falsely accuses me i'll answer for myself. Thank you I don't need you know, some some some or I don't need my wife to get online leave my husband alone That's embarrassing I'd be like you delete that comment now Delete it now. I will not let everyone know that i'm a sissy like that That's some sissy stuff Man fight your battles and by the way, isn't it like the men supposed to defend the women Kind of crazy where we live in Oh look at verse five to be discreet, would you look at that? Chased keepers on youtube and facebook. No, it says keepers at home. Yeah Good Obedient to their own husbands That the word of god be not blasphemed So what is this telling us if a woman's not doing these things? She's actually blaspheming the word of god. So instead of adorning The doctrine of god She's actually blaspheming the word of god Because in order to adorn the doctrine of god, she has to do all these things be discreet be chased be a keeper at home Obey their own husbands love their husbands love their children not be false accusers. That's her adorning the doctrine of god So when people look at the doctrine about being a keeper at home, they're like wow This is a great example of someone who's a keeper at home This is great. Look how she loves her children. Look how she loves her husband. They look so happy together Look how she just obeys her husband. I don't like that because i'm like a feminist but they look happy though Folks people say that I go when I go to the store or something or or or like to restaurants with my wife and my kids I mean now we get the looks You know because we look different we got four kids five and under and it's just like Like they look at my wife and then they look at me and i'm thinking myself are they are they thinking like this stinking mexican I can't believe you did this this poor white girl And I kind of I look at that I kind of want to say like yeah, we got other ones coming he's not coming yet She's not expecting or anything but we got others coming because the plan is to have more children But I don't say anything I just kind of just let it you know, but we get the looks all the time But you know what at the end of the restaurant visit, you know what they say you have a beautiful family You have a beautiful wife You have beautiful children And I always say thank you very much, you know, because they see how my children behave they see that my wife tends to me You know, she brings me my drink, you know, she she she you know, she serves me And they may not like that but they see harmony there And then to them it's just like this is great. This is beautiful and they always say you have a beautiful family You know that I say thank you You know what we're doing we're adorning the doctrine of god because they know we're christians only christians I mean the way we look and everything, you know a bunch of kids and But when a wife chooses not to do that, she's actually blaspheming god's word. She's actually making the word of god ugly When she's like yelling at her husband she's nagging her husband You know, she's not a keeper at home she's not changed she's not discreet she's a loudmouth She's not obedient to her own husband she speaks more than a husband does in a public setting In a public setting she kind of bosses her husband around She kind of is like who's the husband here who's the one in charge That causes people to say like see this christianity stuff is weird that puts men off to christianity by the way That's why men a lot of men think that christianity is just like church is just for women and children Because the wife is constantly bossing around her husband She's bossing him around she's the one who's spiritually in charge. She tells him what to do. She runs the show She's wearing the pants in the family, even though she has a skirt on Amen And so that actually causes the word of god to be blasphemed God says if you really want to adorn the doctrine of god know your place Hey men, know your place Hey women, know your place and your place is at home Your place is at the side of your of your of your husband Your place is to be obedient to your husband to love your children to be a keeper at home to be discreet to be chased To teach the younger women, uh good things to love their husbands That's how you adorn the doctrine of god Don't be a rebellious woman Don't be an odious clamorous rebellious woman Right, right Why because you know what because if you do if you do do that you're blaspheming god's word You're making god's world look bad. You're making it look ugly Look at verse six By the way, you know you think of for example, you know, you think of makeup, let's go back to the makeup illustration, okay? You know makeup should should accentuate beauty But you think about clothing as well when a woman is modest In her clothing true modesty actually attracts the eyes to the face When a woman is Immodest it attracts men's eyes to other parts of their body. Oh, you shouldn't be looking there Well, duh, I mean obviously we shouldn't be looking there. But I mean Can you get on them too though? Like isn't this like a two-way street, you know But a woman who is modest Eyes go directly to the face. Well in like manner, you know what when we are modest in our behavior You know what we do we attract everyone's eyes to god's word Not to our body Not to all not to us Not to who we are. No when we're modest when we are chaste we're sober Obedient when we're living according to god's word We actually take the eyes of the beholder and they behold the word of god for the beauty that is actually there Okay, amen. Look at verse six young men. Likewise exhort to be sober minded and all things showing thyself a pattern of good works This means that young men, you know what you should be doing in these younger years bearing the yoke in your youth Laboring being a blessing in the church taking out the trash Vacuuming serving giving your life to tend to the things of the lord. I'm thankful we have young men like that in our church Constantly working constantly doing things projects and getting involved in church. That's what young men should be doing. They should have a pattern of good works Have a reputation for serving. Amen In doctrine showing uncorruptness Gravity sincerity. What does that mean? You know a young man's teaching should not have false doctrine They should know what they're talking about It should not be deficient of the truth. They should know what they're talking about. And if they preach or they teach, you know And and they don't know what they're talking about. They shouldn't be talking about those things Don't talk about things that are beyond you you understand talk about practical things talk about disney. Amen That was a good series part one and part two All right The only thing he didn't know about was aladdin though, I will say that And I can't believe adan is still in our church and even to this day. Where's adan? Is he here? No, he's not here Oh, he's over there Get out Remember, he said adan instead of aladdin Showing uncorruptness gravity sincerity young men be sincere. Don't be a fake. Don't don't try to impress people Don't try to Be a person where you just want to want everyone to to behold you. No, you should be Sincere you should be grave. You should love the lord Look what it says in verse eight sound speech That cannot be condemned don't sound like an idiot Hey, uh revisit this morning sermon Have a filter in your mouth Don't just let it fly and say whatever comes to your mind. Don't just utter all your mind Have sound speech that cannot be condemned That he that is at the contrary part may be ashamed having no evil thing to say of you So the person who is listening the person who's on the contrary They'll see the word of god for how beautiful it really is if you fulfill these responsibilities Exhort servants. These are referring to employees To be obedient unto their own masters. Hey, we want the men in our church to be good workers. Amen good employees Unto their own masters to please them. Well in all things not answering again. What does that mean? Don't talk back Don't talk back to your boss Especially if they found out that you're a christian That's even worse when you're mouthing off to your boss. Yeah, but you don't know my boss. I think he's a reprobate Folks come on They're you know, your doctrine is showing a corruption Because we don't just throw that out there to any person Okay You know, please them on all things not answering again. Don't be an individual who's constantly talking back to your boss constantly giving him problems Not purloining. In other words not stealing from your boss. Don't steal time. Don't steal material Don't be a thief But showing all look what it says here Good fidelity What is fidelity faithfulness loyalty? So if god is interested is if he's commanding employees to be faithful or loyal To their bosses how much more is he expecting for us to just be loyal in all things? loyal to friends loyal to Leaders loyal to you know, pastors loyal to doctrine, right? He wants us to have good fidelity But he's telling him here, you know show all good fidelity To your boss so that your boss when he sees that you're a christian He might be open to what you have to say because you're such a good worker He says that they may adorn the doctrine of god our savior in all things. And so what's what's the purpose of the sermon tonight? Just to address all the different categories in our church, of course and just to remind us. Hey, you know if you are having a tough time Teaching these doctrines to your family You might want to put a little bit of makeup on Not literally by the way Talk about spiritually, you know, you know dress modestly Throw a little bit of makeup. Hey guys, brush your teeth Comb your hair take a shower Have good hygiene spirit. I'm talking about spiritually here. Okay, because you're adorning the doctrine have a good testimony is what i'm saying Now this is not something that i'm that i'm relating to soul winning by the way, right So i'm saying you have to do all these things to be a good soul winner You know There's a really stupid teaching out there that says that Where you have to like repent of all your sins and you got to clean up your life before you go out there and preach The gospel folks the people at the door will only meet you for about 15 minutes. You probably will never see them again 15 minutes or not. It's not enough for you to give them the gospel and tell them tell them your whole life story either I just want to let you know I don't drink anymore or something, you know I don't smoke pot anymore. I repented of all my sins before I came to this door to give you the gospel or something Soul winning doesn't require for you to clean up your life So when he actually cleans up your life because the more you go soul winning the more you recognize your Massive responsibility and you want to be an effective soul winner and it causes you to to really think about eternal things When you go out there and win someone to christ you pull someone out of the fire it makes eternity far more realistic It's like, you know what? I need to get more serious about the things of god. I need to start cleaning up my life I need to get right with god People are they have it backwards That one guy out there who's preaching out there in the south. He has it backwards This is self-righteous holier than now that says oh, you know you guys go out there and you have a dirty heart How do you know you do you don't see any who's harder? Are you looking at? You can't see anybody's heart. How do you know what because they're not up to your standard So are they supposed to repent of the sins that you've repented of? I guarantee hey, what about all the bitterness that you have in your heart? You shouldn't be getting up and preaching god's word All this venomous maliciousness and all this other nonsense that he's guilty of yeah, he's getting up on sunday morning preaching god's word At that point. Yeah, you should get right with god before you get up and preach god's word Yeah How about that? But to go sowing No, but you know what to teach the word of god to other people or to teach the word of god to christians To help them to accept And behold the beauty of god's word. Yeah, we should adorn ourselves By our behavior you understand That's pretty much the sermon for tonight You know making doctrine attractive does not require for us to take away or add to god's word Diminish god's word misinterpret god's word. It doesn't require anything from god's word other than our behavior in light of god's word. Amen This is my husband our word of prayer father. We thank you so much for your word And lord, thank you for the practical teaching of the book of titus and what a wonderful book it is And i'm so thankful that the word of god is so deep in other areas But sometimes just so practical and just everyday living and I pray that lord you help us give heed to this lord And help us to adorn The doctrine help us to uh, dress up spiritually To be good representatives of god's word lord, and I pray that you'd bless us as we fellowship tonight And give us a great week to follow in jesus name. Amen Please turn in your song books a song number 397 397 Song number 397 little as much when god is in it Song number 397 all together nice and strong on that first verse in the harvest field now ripen There's a word Little as much when god is hidden Seems so small Is Are you In the same place If you'll go in jesus Is Amen wonderful singing yard is missed So
