At this time the ushers will come forth to collect the offering and you can turn in your Bibles through Acts chapter number 20. You You You Tonight we're in Acts chapter 20 And the Bible reads And after the uproar was ceased Paul called unto him the disciples And embraced them and departed for to go Into Macedonia And when he had gone over those parts And had given them much exhortation He came into Greece And there abode three months And when the Jews waited late for him As he was about to sail into Syria He purposed to return through Macedonia And there accompanied him Into Asia And of the Thessalonians Aristarchus and Secuntus And Gaius of Derbe And Timotheus and of Asia Tychicus and Trophimus These going before tarried for us At Troas And we sailed away from Philippi After the days of unleavened bread And came unto them to Troas In five days Where we abode seven days And upon the first day of the week When the disciples came together to break bread They came tomorrow And continued to speech until midnight And there were many lights in the upper chamber Where they were gathered together And there sat in a window A certain young man named Eutychus Being fallen into a deep sleep And as Paul was long preaching He sunk down with sleep And fell down from the third loft And was taken up dead And Paul went down and fell on him And embracing him said, trouble not yourselves For his life is in him Meanwhile, even till break of day So he departed And they brought the young man alive And were not a little comforted And we went before to ship And sailed unto Assos There intending to take in Paul For so had he appointed Minding himself to go afoot And when he met with us At Assos He took him in And came to Mydalene And we sailed thence To Assos And the next day we arrived at Samos And tarried at Trigileum And the next day we came to Miletus For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus Because he would not spend the time in Asia For he hasted If it were possible for him to be at Jerusalem The day of Pentecost And from Miletus he sent unto Ephesus And called the elders of the church And when they were come to him He said unto them, ye know From the first day that I came into Asia I have been with you at all seasons Serving the Lord with all humility of mind And with many tears and temptations Which befell me by the lying In weight of the Jews And how I kept back nothing that was profitable Unto you but have showed you And have taught you publicly And from house to house Testifying both to the Jews and also to the Greeks Repentance toward God And faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ And now behold I go bound In the spirit unto Jerusalem And all things that shall befall me there Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth In every city saying that bonds And afflictions abide me But none of these things move me Neither count I my life dear unto myself So that I might finish my course with joy And the ministry which I have received Of the Lord Jesus to testify The gospel of the grace of God And now behold I know that ye all Among whom I have gone preaching The kingdom of God Shall see my face no more It is this day that I am pure from the blood of all men For I have not shunned to declare unto you All the counsel of God Take heed therefore unto yourselves And to all the flock Over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers To feed the church of God Which he hath purchased with his own blood For I know this That after my departing shall grievous wolves Enter in among you not sparing the flock Also of your own selves shall men arise Speaking perverse things To draw away disciples after them Therefore watch and remember That by the space of three years I cease not To warn every one night and day with tears And now brethren I commend you to God and to the word of his grace Which is able to build you up And to give you an inheritance among all of them Which are sanctified I have coveted no man's silver or gold or apparel Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities And to them that were with me I have showed you all things Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities Yea ye yourselves know That these hands have ministered Unto my necessities You know when you left one region You just didn't know if you were ever going to be back And so as he's bidding them farewell As he's saying goodbye These are some of the things that he's kind of going over here Look at verse 28 of Acts chapter 20 It says take heed therefore unto yourselves And unto all the flock Over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers To feed the church of God Which he hath purchased with his own blood For I know this He didn't say I think It's a possibility It's a gamble He says I know this That after my departing Shall grievous wolves enter in among you Not sparing the flock Also of your own self Shall men arise Speaking perverse things To draw away disciples after them So what is it that he's telling the elders at the church at Ephesus He says hey make sure You're teaching the flock of God You're teaching them doctrine You're exposing them to the deep teachings of God He's preaching the whole counsel of God of course And he's basically telling them You need to make sure you feed them and teach them the right doctrine Because bad people are going to come in False prophets are going to come in They're going to come to draw away disciples after them They're going to come teach damnable heresy And you want to make sure that the church of God The sheep that are in the church Are able to discern When it's false doctrine When false prophets are coming Now go to 2 Peter chapter 2 2 Peter chapter 2 2 Peter chapter 2 Now the reason something like this is important to talk about Or should I say emphasize Re-emphasize Is because this is actually a teaching that has been lost In most churches Why is that? You know you don't really hear a sermon On false prophets in mainstream Christianity or even In Baptist churches that are Independent fundamental Baptist churches They don't really like to talk about false prophets Even though it's a subject that is clearly Talked about in the Bible It's clearly highlighted They have a tendency to kind of stray away from that And avoid that subject Why is that? Well because of the fact That when you talk about false prophets You have to name names Right you got to call people out And often these Pastors you know Non-denom churches or even Baptist churches They don't really feel comfortable Kind of pointing to the false prophet You know saying hey this guy is a false prophet You know they don't want to judge anybody They don't want to accuse anyone But you know if they don't want to do that Then they need to sit down and shut up And let someone else do it you understand Because the responsibility of the elder The responsibility of the pastor Is to expose the wolves And protect the sheep by doing so You understand? So often they Don't want to do it because they don't want to judge anybody But even within fundamental Baptist churches Pastors kind of avoid this type Of a sermon or a subject Because of the fact that They don't want to judge anybody But even when they kind of delve into it They kind of stick to the surface type False prophets They call out those who just basically anybody calls out Like Joel Osteen or something you know Like Joel Osteen is a false prophet Come on duh That's pretty obvious you know Rick Warren is a false prophet Yeah I know that They kind of tend to avoid Calling out the false prophets within Baptist circles You know because Then you get controversial But folks you know If you're a pastor who does that You're just a respecter of people you understand And we as Christians we as pastors Should never be a respecter of people If someone is teaching false doctrine Or they are exerting Qualities of a false prophet They need to be exposed We need to make sure that we're teaching the flock of God To expose these wicked people Now let me read to you from Matthew 24 In verse 10 it says Now this is something that was spoken of 2,000 years ago Here we are 2,000 years later If that was true back then How much more is it true today That false prophets will arise False Christ, false apostles They're going to seek to lead people astray And draw away disciples After them Now when you study the subject Of false prophets in the Bible Obviously as I mentioned it's found throughout the scriptures But two of the main chapters That really highlights false prophets That I would encourage you to go home and read for yourself You know word by word Line upon line is 2 Peter chapter 2 And the book of Jude And then you have like a snippet of it in different portions Of the New Testament 2 Timothy chapter 3 But the really extensive Comprehensive Instructions and teaching on it Is found in 2 Peter chapter 2 And the book of Jude And in fact the book of Jude When you read it It's so similar to 2 Peter chapter 2 You would almost think that Jude Basically used 2 Peter chapter 2 as a template When he wrote the book of Jude Okay Because it's very similar Obviously some wording is different but Very similar and it's still the word of God obviously But tonight I'm just going to give you some basic teaching On false prophets Just to kind of refresh ourselves Make sure we know what we're dealing with Make sure we know what we're looking for You're in 2 Peter chapter 2 look at verse number 1 It says here But there are false prophets also among the people Even as there shall be False teachers Among you So what is he saying? In the Old Testament There is false prophets in Israel In the nation of Israel And in like manner he says there's going to be false teachers among you This is unavoidable He says Who privately shall bring in damnable heresies Even denying the Lord that bought them And bring upon themselves swift destruction Now let me just say this Number 1 is that the majority of false prophets Are not saved Okay And so you know if you have a pastor A leader, an elder, an evangelist A deacon Someone who is in a position of spiritual authority And they exert these qualities That we're going to look at in 2 Peter 2 and the book of Jude You know automatically we would think okay This person is probably a false prophet He's probably not saved That's the automatic thing because we see that the first thing He talks about is the fact that These people who are false prophets The Bible tells us that they deny The Lord that bought them And they bring upon themselves swift destruction Now let me just give you a disclaimer Here before we continue on Look at chapter 1 if you would So the majority of False prophets are not saved But that would also mean that some of them Maybe are saved they're just misguided They just are You know something that they learn They're teaching things that they learn at their Bible college You know they're just kind of Unlearned okay So I'm sure there's pastors Out there who might be teaching Some false doctrine that are not Necessarily false prophets Okay I can't point to any Right now off the top of my head But I'm sure it's out there You know just people who are just misguided And let me give you proof of this okay Actually you're in chapter 1 Go to chapter 3 if you would We're going to come back to chapter 1 Look what it says here in 2 Peter chapter 3 verse 15 It says In which are some things hard to be understood Look what it says here Which they that are what? Unlearned and unstable rest As they do also the other scriptures Unto their own destruction So according to the Bible there's a segment of people Who would take the scriptures And rest them what does it mean to rest? It means to twist them right It means to kind of take them out of context You're kind of perverting the scriptures But it says here that they're just Unlearned and unstable That would mean that it's an individual who's just like A novice okay It's an immature spiritually immature Individual who is teaching The Bible but they don't even know what they're talking about Okay They desire to be teachers of the law Understanding neither what they say nor where They're affirmed okay And this is definitely a possibility because I've met people like this who Think that they know the Bible they talk like they know the Bible But then when you hear them talk about the Bible You just said false doctrine like this is kind of crazy You're obviously unlearned And I don't write them off as a false prophet Because here we have an example Of the apostle Peter Talking about people twisting Paul's words and saying they're just Unlearned and unstable Okay Babes in Christ are notorious for this too You know that's why it's important that A pastor is not a novice Okay Let's be lifted up with pride and fall into the condemnation of the devil But even aside from the pride that he's Susceptible to another thing Another danger is the fact that he doesn't Know the word of God he hasn't exercised His senses to discern both good and evil He's not skilled in the word of Righteousness and therefore he can easily Twist the scriptures to say something that It doesn't say okay Now you know if If you have an individual for example A pastor let's say you know a pastor An evangelist He's teaching some weird stuff You know and you give him And you give him the benefit of the doubt It's like that sounds kind of weird Let's go talk to him about that Okay And you kind of go to him and you say hey you said this About the trinity or you said this About salvation What did you mean by that you know Because the Bible says you know you don't repent of your sins To be saved like what do you believe about Salvation if he just like doubles Down and it's just like That's what I believe That's what the Bible says you got to repent of your sins Or you know Jesus is the father And then kind of just double Down on that at that point it's like okay you're a false prophet This is not an unlearned And unstable person this is an Individual who is grounded in His false doctrine this is a person who is a wicked Individual okay Because they're going out of their way they're doubling down Because you know I've talked To people who may have believed Some form of false doctrine But then when they're corrected about it they're like Oh man I didn't even think about it that way maybe I'm not Yeah you're right it does say that And they kind of humble themselves And then they change and they grow Out of that type of thing they're just Unlearned you understand However the false prophet Does not do that the false prophet Will double down the false prophet Or what he'll do is he'll lie to you And then he'll just keep teaching that same Thing over and over again At which point it's like hey I thought we agreed Hey I thought you said you didn't believe that And if they keep doubling down on their preaching Then obviously that person is a false prophet You understand And so not all false prophets are unsaved So there's a person who can Teach false doctrine out of ignorance Because they're unlearned They're unstable it makes them a false prophet Because obviously they're not prophesying correctly They're not teaching the Bible correctly But after they're corrected if they choose not to Rectify that teaching Then at that point I would consider them To be a false prophet you understand Now go back to Go to chapter 1 if you would Chapter 1 So the majority of false prophets Are not safe because The reason they are a false prophet in the first place Is because the Bible says in verse number 1 Of chapter 2 That they denied the Lord God that bought them So The first thing that the chapter starts off with Is telling us these people First and foremost have denied The Lord God that bought them What does it mean when he says they have denied The Lord God that bought them They've denied salvation They denied the Lord That's a false prophet Because this individual Aside from the fact that he's denied the Lord He's made it his Goal He's made it his agenda To get up and teach the Bible To parade As a prophet of the Lord In spite of the fact that he has denied The Lord God that bought them So they're not saved Now look what it says in 2 Peter Chapter 1 And verse number 19 it says We also have a more sure word of prophecy Where until you do well that you take heed As unto a light that shineth in the dark place Until the day dawn and the day star Arise in your hearts Knowing this first that no Prophecy of the scripture is of any Private interpretation So the Bible describes the Word of God as being a light Why? Because it exposes It's out in the open You know when we preach God's word We put it on YouTube We make clips about it You ask me I'll tell you what I believe We're just very open about what we believe Because we have nothing to hide There's nothing to hide You can ask me in person You can review the clips You can review the sermons And if I'm preaching the truth which I am Then I should not worry about I hope they see my sermon because it's true And I want the truth To spread whereas false Prophets are often Privy What does that mean? They're very private They often have a what? Private interpretation Of the Bible They come up with some new teaching That's never been taught before And it's often outside of the Boundaries of God's word Where it's just like that came out of left field Where did you even come up with that? Manly Perry It's just weird teaching that Mary's an oven and Jesus is literal bread And all that stuff That's a private interpretation And he's saying here No prophecy of the scriptures of any private Interpretation He goes on to say for the prophecy came down in Old time by the will of man but holy men of God Spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost Why is it not a private interpretation? Because holy men of God Spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost So this shows us as we see With the false prophets in the book of Jeremiah That they're prophesying a vision of their own heart Whereas When we're prophesying We're simply repeating what the Bible says This is one of the reasons why it's important For you to bring the Bible to church It's one of the reasons when we go through The scriptures you actually open up the Bible yourself To see if it actually says that You're testing it, you're proving all things Holding fast that which is good Okay Now look at chapter 2 again So remember he says It's a private interpretation And then it goes on in verse 1 But there were false prophets also among the people Even as there shall be false teachers among you Look what it says Who privately shall bring in damnable heresies So look This is how you know a person is a false prophet If they're just trying to bring a doctrine under the radar And they're just trying to finagle their teachings Under the radar Be private about it Let's not post that sermon right now Wait a couple weeks or something Until the smoke dies down Manly Perry, this is what he's notorious for I'm sorry I keep bringing him up But I'm not sorry, but he's just a false prophet That's what he does Privately bringing, and let me just say this He does teach damnable heresy He teaches damnable heresy What is a damnable heresy? Well heresy is just teaching that it's contrary to God's word Damnable heresy It's like a step above that Where you teach heresy that could actually damn someone's soul to hell You're messing with salvation You're messing with the Godhead, deity With the deity of Jesus Christ The blood of Christ Hell If you kind of twist and pervert that Then obviously you're teaching damnable heresy It's false teaching that can damn a soul to hell And so these people bring in Damnable heresy is privilege They don't just come out in the open and say Hey I believe false doctrine Hey I just want to let you know I believe a lot of false teaching No they have to sneak their way in And let me say this When they infiltrate churches Because obviously that's where they want to infiltrate Depending upon how strict the church is It really depends on how open they are about their false doctrine Because there are churches that don't test anything They don't teach about false prophets They don't teach about heresy And so that's kind of like an open range for false prophets to just go in And they can just say whatever they want Because they know the pastor's not going to kick them out They know the pastor's not going to say anything bad about them And look I've known churches where false prophets abound They rise And they're just sitting in the pews They're going around telling people not to use the King James Bible They're going around teaching Damnable heresy And it's brought before the authorities And the authorities don't do anything about it You understand So they don't really have to Those are like wolves in wolves clothing They don't even have to say Why are you even wearing sheep's clothing? I'm good like this And they just go in there And they're just like we've got to win the wolf We've got to win them over There's still hope for them And this, they have to kind of come under the radar Because people are trained They know what the Bible says about false prophets They keep their ears to the ground Spiritually speaking when it comes to heresies And so they have to be private about it You understand Now so number one is that the majority of false prophets are not saved Why is that? Well because of the fact that they bring in damnable heresies You understand Look at verse number two Verse three is that false prophets are often loved by all Okay Verse two says that many shall follow their pernicious ways By reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of Many shall follow them Now you know obviously Joel Osteen is a great example of that Many follow him But not just him There's these non-denon pastors out there as well These pastors of these mega churches that exist Where that's an obvious evident token of the fact that many people love them When you're running 10,000, 15,000 I want to see what you're preaching I'm not saying it's impossible to run a church of 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 With teaching the right doctrine But I guarantee you the vast majority of these non-denon churches are not preaching hardcore sermons I guarantee you they've never preached a sermon on false prophets I guarantee you they've never preached against the Sodomites I guarantee you they're not preaching the right doctrine Why? Because in order for them to grow a church to that maximum capacity They're going to have to lie They're going to have to flatter people, they're going to have to lie And the Bible tells us here that many shall follow their pernicious ways So in order for many people to follow them They have to basically appease both sides False prophets are basically politicians of the church Especially what they are A false prophet can be described as a politician in the church Because a politician just tells you what you want to hear Especially when they want to get voted in Yeah, I agree with that, we're going to do that And we're going to do that, and we're going to do that They kind of see what people are for What people are against in regards to that party And they just kind of say what they want them to hear But when they take office They'll have to change it, right? And then they never follow through So the Bible also says Verse 3 And through covetousness Shall they with feigned words What does feigned mean? It means fake Fake words We would say flattery Through covetousness shall they with feigned words Make merchandise of you Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not And their damnation slumbereth not So here we see that one of the prime motives of a false prophet in a church is money Because he says through covetousness So the reason he's teaching lies The reason he's flattering The reason he has feigned words Is because he wants to fleece the flock of God He's trying to make money, okay? You know, Brother Albert sent me This clip of, I think it was in Vice News Right? The Vice News clip And it was these pastors These mega church pastors, okay? I mean, you guys have seen Vice News, I'm sure But it was these mega church pastors And it's like, are churches turning into businesses? I think that was like the title So this mega church pastor He has this massive church Massive building But he's also starting these businesses within the church Now obviously that's nothing new to us We've heard that, you know, like the coffee shop or whatever But this guy's taking it to like another level Okay, like he bought like a Kmart building And then he like started a gym there And just all these things And then the guy who's interviewing the pastor Is not saved He's not a fundamental Baptist He's not a Christian Probably completely against the Bible He's asking the pastor, he's like Well, you know, it kind of seems like you guys are already well to do here Like I'm looking at your current building It's pretty nice It looks like you guys are making a good amount of money He's like, yeah He's like, so, why do you need more? He's like, yeah, well, you know, a lot of people ask that You know, and You know, we just, we want to expand He kind of just like finagled his way out of the question He never really answered it Because let me just say this Most of these mega church pastors are making millions Already And he wants to start, by the way He's making a house of God, a house of merchandise First and foremost But the main thing is that He's starting all these businesses to make more money More money for what? What do you need all that money for? And the guy who's interviewing him Is literally questioning him And kind of bringing it up like So why do you need all this money? What's the purpose of all this money? Because that's a lot of money He's like, well, you know That's a good question But we have a lot of ministry And it's just like, what are you trying to do? Buy a yacht for the ministry or something like that? Are you trying to buy a helipad? You need a helipad for your ministry? I mean, good night What's all the money for? But I'll tell you what it's for Is to consume it upon his own lust He through covetousness is trying to make merchandise Off of the flock of God Which obviously he's doing And he's using faint words Flattery And flattery is You know, you think of Joel Osteen As the prime example of someone who flatters His congregation Nothing negative ever comes out of his mouth You know, God's not mad at you And you know It's just this motivational speech To kind of Get you going through the week And get you coming back and putting your card In the ATM to get your money Okay What we see is one of the prime motives And we'll get into this just in a bit Is that the prime motive of the false prophet Is that he just wants to make money He says through covetousness Shall they with faint words make merchandise Of you And it's for this reason that a lot of people follow them They love them Let me read to you from Jude Verse 16 These are murmurs, complainers Walking after their own lust And their mouth speaketh great swelling words Having men's persons In admiration because Of advantage So men admire these people Unsafe people love these people These false prophets They love them Let me give you an example And by the way, false prophets are not always just religious leaders As a pastor or something Sometimes they're like musicians Like Kanye West I came out with a clip a while ago Where it was just like Kanye West is not saved How dare you say he's not saved And Oh man blankety blank I'm gonna pray for you blankety blank It's crazy Why? Because the world loves the false prophets They love Kanye West Even though he's a blasphemer Even though he's a reprobate Even though he claimed to be God That was before Before what? Folks, once you do that You're done Who cares what he did I mean, okay, I give it to you That was before, now, before he was in this part of hell Now he put himself like To the lowest hell Jesus said in Luke 6 26 Woe unto you when all men Shall speak well of you You know, we need some independent fundamental Baptist Pastors to read that verse You know, and stop trying to get it in good With the mayor And the governor And the politicians And they want everyone to like them Woe unto you when men shall speak well of you You know, you need to be criticized every once in a while For the things that you preach And if you're not being criticized You're not being threatened People are not saying all men are evil against you Then you should probably question the manner in which you're doing your ministry Because Jesus said Woe unto you When all men shall speak well of you For so did their fathers to the false prophets He's like, man, you're following in the footsteps of these false prophets So I would look at the pastor of 2021 Who's not being criticized Who's not being threatened Who's not being persecuted when they're not speaking evil of them For the things that they're preaching And say, hey, Luke 6 26, you want to read that? So no one's speaking evil of you So no one, everyone's speaking well of you What does that tell me? What does that tell you? It's not good We need to be like Jesus Then get crucified Some people have a tendency to forget when they say be like Jesus They tend to forget that his ministry only lasted for three years And that he was murdered For the things that he preached You ever think about that? What would Jesus do? Jesus would preach so hard that it would get him killed We need to be more like Jesus Okay, you first You know, you got a long ways to go, buddy Why don't you preach a controversial sermon You know, just preach in the Bible No, but you know, the bracelet, what would Jesus do? That's what I meant I'm telling you what Jesus would do People accuse us of cherry picking the Bible They're the ones cherry picking the Bible They pick and choose all the graciousness and the mercy of God Which we're for The graciousness, the long suffering But here's the thing, we're for those things But not at the exclusion of the other aspects of God as well You understand? And so, you know, they didn't speak well of Jesus They called him Beelzebub And if they call the master of the house Beelzebub How much more shall they call they of his household? So, oh ye pastor, how many times have you been called the devil and Satan And you're doing the devil's work You know, how many times have you been criticized And you're called a demon or Satan Because you're serving the Lord If not much, then we got a problem here Because he says, how much more Shall they call they of his household And if you're saved, he's talking about you You're of his household You're not measuring up Well, I just like it You know, I just think we should be above reproach So do I I just think, you know, people should think highly of us Well, the Bible actually says in Luke 16, 15 And he said unto them, the Pharisees which were the false prophets of that day Ye are they which justify yourselves before men But God knoweth your hearts For that which is highly esteemed among men Is an abomination in the sight of God There you go I don't want to read that verse Let's talk about how, you know, take my yoke upon you And Jesus wept Let's use those verses But we're not talking about that right now though You know, you want to just like ignore what Jesus said here He says that which is highly esteemed among men And look folks, don't get this confused This doesn't mean that everyone has to hate us Right? Because we are loved by the brethren Not every brother out there Because sometimes, you know, even brothers in Christ have a tendency to hate us too Unfortunately Not like us and criticize us You know, we're loved by people There's people that love us There's people that love our preaching There's people that love our church They love the work We inspire them We motivate them We provoke them into love and to good works I mean, they admire us But these are righteous people Shall hate you Okay? Those are people who are not adherents to the Bible They're not advocates of God's word They're not advocates of Christianity They hate Christianity Okay? And when you have a pastor Who claims to believe the Bible And he's highly esteemed among them Red flag It's probably a false prophet Okay, are you guys still in 2 Peter? Look at verse number 10 So they are often Most of the time, not saved Okay? They have a large following Because they have Great swelling words of vanity They teach false doctrine In order to appease those who believe the false doctrine So they can retain that type of following Okay? And then also, they're presumptuous Look what it says in verse 10 But chiefly, them that walk after the flesh In the lust of uncleanness And despise government Presumptuous are they Self-willed They are not afraid to speak evil Of dignities So what does it mean to be presumptuous? He's referring to the fact that they just kind of let it fly Out of the abundance of the heart The mouth speaketh And if they have evil treasure in their heart That's what they're going to speak If they have perverseness in their heart That's what you're going to hear If they believe in false doctrine If they believe in false doctrine That's what's going to come out Okay? And by the way, they're not afraid to speak evil of dignities This is why when I run into people Who Bawk authority They hate dominion or they criticize leaders That's an automatic red flag for me I don't write them off As a false prophet I don't write them off as a reprobate But that is a red flag Oh man, you just Reprobate everyone You just want to reprobate everyone First of all, I do not Possess that power Okay? Now if you say reprobate as in like reject people Yeah, I reject people Supposed to Aren't you supposed to reject people sometimes? You reprobate them? Right? But what they mean is like, oh, you're just saying people are just not saved Well, I mean, I think the Apostle Paul Did the same thing, right? He said, you know, Christ be in you Except he be reprobates Oh, there goes Paul, reprobating people Why are you going around reprobating people For Paul? Don't you know this is the Corinthian church? This is a church that's in the Bible These are people who God We're all going to talk about for the next 2000 years Paul Don't be reprobating people Don't be zapping people like that But Don't Get this Twisted Okay? When we say that someone is a false prophet We don't make them a reprobate We're pointing out who they are It's not like you go there and you just like Reprobate And it's just like They just completely change and then The reptile comes out of them or something like that We're just pointing out who they are Based upon Listen to me Based upon What the Bible says People criticize us When we actually just read 2 Peter And say, well, this is what the Bible says It's like, why are you getting mad at me for? Why are you accusing me Why are you angry with me Because I'm doing something that the Bible actually says Maybe, so I guess we should just ignore What 2 Peter chapter 2 says then When someone despises government They despise dominion Why? Because Christians, people are saved Should be characterized by being under authority We don't despise authority We have God as our authority The Bible is our authority The husband is the authority of the wife The parents are the authority Of the children, the pastor is the authority Of the church here We welcome authority We love authority, we embrace authority because That is what Christianity is about We love authority We don't despise it We don't speak evil of it So when an individual starts coming up And criticizes authority And they despise government Let's just mark it down That's a red flag Of a person who fits this description right here You're calling him a false prophet Well, I'm sorry, but you know This is only found in 2 Peter 2 And the book of Jude where it talks about false prophets What do you want me to do? That's where he said it Go to the book of Jude if you would Hold your place there in 2 Peter So they're presumptuous, they're self-willed They're not afraid to speak evil of dignities And then he says You're in Jude, I'm going to continue reading in 2 Peter It says, whereas angels Which are greater in power I mean wouldn't you agree that the angel Michael is a powerful angel Abaddon Abaddon is a powerful angel You know I can't think of any other angels right now Gabriel, I mean he's alright No, I'm just kidding But there's angels in the Bible that are very powerful Right? They're greater in power and might But the Bible says They don't bring railing accusation against them before the Lord Right But these as natural brute beasts That means a stupid animal Okay Strong language These are stupid animals Made to be taken and destroyed By the way So according to the Bible False prophets should be destroyed Speak evil of the things which they Understand not and shall utterly perish In their own corruption. Let's look at the parallel Jude verse 8 says Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh Despise Dominion and speak evil Of dignities yet Michael the Archangel when continuing with the Devil he disputed about the body of Moses Dirst not bring a railing against Him a railing accusation but said the Lord Rebuke thee but these speak evil Of those things which they know not But what they know naturally as brute beasts And those things they corrupt themselves. When it says But what they know naturally is like this is the only thing They know how to do They only know how to speak evil Of dignities, of dominion, of governments Of the pastor Of authority Of their husband Of their parents Of any type of authority that's just their Natural propensity is to speak Evil of them. You understand? And so they're presumptuous They speak evil of dignities They hate authority Go to Matthew chapter 12 if you would Matthew chapter number 12 Matthew chapter number 12 So they're presumptuous This is why it's important that Sometimes you just gotta let people talk Right? Because out of the abundance of the heart They're not speaking And you know If you're ever concerned about an individual Whether they're like a bad person or not Just let them talk Just let them blabber away and talk Cause eventually it's gonna come out Okay Look what it says in Matthew 12 verse 32 Whosoever speaketh the word against the Son of Man It shall be forgiven him But whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost It shall not be forgiven him Neither in this world, neither in the world to come Either make the tree good and his fruit good Or else make the tree corrupt and his fruit corrupt For the tree is known by his fruit O generation of vipers How can ye being evil Speak good things Now look, false prophets can speak Good things for a season Like they can flatter They can say the right things for a while But what this is teaching Is that eventually They will expose themselves by what they say It says For out of the abundance of the heart The mouth speaketh a good man Out of the good treasure of the heart Bringeth forth good things And an evil man out of the evil treasure Bringeth forth evil things Now let me just make something really clear And put a disclaimer It doesn't mean we're not gonna say anything stupid Okay All of us, to a certain extent Has said something dumb Okay How many of you have said I've said some dumb things in times past I said some dumb things Today Okay It just happens, right? We're fallible People, we're human Sometimes we say dumb things And even when sometimes the pastor gets up He can make a mistake sometimes Sometimes I forget it Maybe it was like a slip of the tongue Where I worded something That wasn't supposed to be worded that way Sometimes I correct it, sometimes I forget There's times when I catch it and I'm like Oh man, I need to correct that, that didn't sound right And I'll correct it Couple weeks ago that happened, I don't remember, it was like a month ago I had said something and then Sunday night I corrected I said, you know, I said this, but it's actually incorrect This is what actually the Bible teaches Because we're fallible people Sometimes we make mistakes Whereas these people speak evil things It's not a matter of Well, it's just a slip of the tongue Often it's just the devil coming out of them Kind of slipping through the cracks is what it is Now we should obviously give people the benefit of the doubt But when it's a consistent devil coming out It's probably a devil in there It's like that devil popped out like five times Satan, is that you? It's like Okay man, this is like the tenth time That you've done something like this When they start gaining a reputation And the things that they say It's like, I don't think this is like an accident I think this is probably what they actually believe You understand? Go back to 2 Peter if you would So they're presumptuous They're presumptuous They're presumptuous So they're presumptuous They speak evil of dignities That's why It's important that We embrace authority We're not characterized by those things And look If someone comes to our church And they start criticizing the leadership Come tell me, I'd love to deal with that Because that's something that needs to be Nipped right at the very beginning When they start pulling you aside So I'm saying, hey Pastor me, he's great and everything But that one thing he said I don't know man, what do you think? Don't tell anybody though Hey, you're pretty cool man Have you been working out? Trying to like gain your confidence And they start criticizing That happens, I mean that's like a funny illustration But that actually happens And they go for what the Bible says Unstable souls Where people are just kind of like Oh man, this person's cool And maybe he does have a point or something like that And what they do is they try to draw away When the Bible says that men shall Arise from among you He's not saying like safe people are going to become false prophets It's saying that there's individuals Sometimes in each congregation That's a false prophet, you just didn't see them They're a wolf in sheep's clothing So they come under the radar And then they look like you, they talk like you They act like a Christian But then you start Recognizing this person's probably a really bad person But you didn't see it to begin with Okay Now let me just say this I don't think we need to be a type of church Where we're just like Who's the false prophet here? That's not a good way to live What if there's a false prophet here? Then we'll find out Are you scared? There's more sheep here If there is a wolf There's more sheep in here that can jump a wolf It should not be a problem You understand? And I gave this illustration before But I remember a couple years ago There was a person who came From a different church Who believed in modalism Okay And they were visiting They were like a fan of the church And stuff like that And I found out about it and I kind of confronted the person Because they were on vacation or something like that And he just kind of denied it But he didn't He was trying to basically back up his pastor who is modalist And you know The conversation didn't really go anywhere So then someone came up to me afterwards And was like oh man what are we going to do? I'm like about what? He's like what about that guy? I mean he's like I don't want like false doctrine To be like you know come in here and stuff I'm like what do you think he's going to do? And he's just like Well I don't know man What if he spreads false doctrine? I'm like how? How do you think How do you think this person Will infiltrate our church? Like what are you scared of? Do you really think he's just going to like Turn everyone away here in a span of like two days? I mean We have the upper hand basically You understand? So like You shouldn't be paranoid about false prophets Is what I'm saying Let's not be a paranoid church Okay It's very unattractive as a church We're just like who's the reprobate? Am I the reprobate? Is it I Lord? You know You start suspecting everyone Hey The Bible is A hammer But we also have to understand that sometimes When you have a hammer everything looks like a nail So yeah Study 2nd Peter chapter 2 But there's other portions of the Bible to study We need to be balanced right Because this is a true thing that can happen This is a reality There will be false prophets False prophets will rise But don't be paranoid wondering who's the next false prophet That's going to come through our doors We need to like chill out And not think that every Tom, Dick, and Harry That comes through our doors Is some wicked person You understand? What if they infiltrate then? Then you know this is why I'm preaching this sermon We're feeding the flock of God And let me just say this is that if a false prophet Ever infiltrates our church They're not going to get very far So what if they stay for like a decade? Then they stay for a decade And if we don't know it then they stay for a decade under the radar Eventually they'll be found And we'll boot them out And we'll live happily ever after Okay Look at verse 12 What's another characteristic of a false prophet? False prophets are without shame They have no shame Look at verse 12 But these as natural brute beasts Made to be taken and destroyed Just want to put that in there Speak evil of the things which they understand not And shall utterly perish from their own corruption And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness As they that count it pleasure To riot In the daytime Isn't that weird? Now remember when the riots took place in 2020? Most of it was when? At night Right? I'm sure there was some during the day but A lot of it was at night Because people want to go at night So people don't see them Because they're ashamed of covering their face Or wearing masks Because they don't want people to see them because they know it's a shameful thing To riot So they do it at night when people can't really see them Whereas false prophets Peter compares it To people who riot In the daytime Understand? Yes I mean think about this Think about this Think about alcoholics Most of the time you think of someone who drinks They do it at night In a bar in some dingy bar Midnight or something like that The hardcore alcoholics Are just those who just wake up In the morning And that exists Where they wake up early in the morning And they're drinking early It's like have you no shame Obviously we're completely against alcohol You should never drink Alcohol is for idiots and it's sinful To drink alcohol But folks I mean during the day It's like a guy who goes to the bar At 10 o'clock in the morning I don't even know if bars are open at 10 o'clock But let's say you know I'm sure it exists out there They go early in the morning to the bar It's like have you no shame So this is telling us that false prophets Do not have any shame They will go into the most Biblically grounded Fundamental Baptist church With the most nefarious agenda With no shame You see Us, if we go to a church And we don't like the pastor We just leave I'm not coming here anymore I'm going somewhere else And we just move on Right? We just forget it Move on We go somewhere else The false prophet on the other hand Will actually stick around Isn't that weird? They will actually stick around that church Even though they hate the pastor Even though they hate the church They hate the pastor They will get up on Sunday morning And go to that church Say why? Because they have no shame And look They will go to you and say Brother And then turn around and just start talking All kinds of crap behind your back They'll do it They'll gossip to you about the pastor And then literally go to the pastor and say Pastor that was such a great sermon Why? Because they have no shame No shame He says They shall receive the reward of unrighteousness As they they count it pleasure to riot in the day time Spots they are and blemishes Sporting themselves With their own deceiving Look what it says While they feast with you They'll come to the potluck They'll eat that chicken right next to you Knowing full well that they're a devil And that you hate their guts And they'll do it Because they have no shame Look at Jude Go back to Jude Jude verse 12 These are spots in your feast of charity Verse 12 Just keep a pen there or something Because we're going to continue to go back to that These are spots in your feast of charity when they feast with you Feeding themselves without fear You know For us it's like you should be afraid If you come here and you're a false prophet They do it without fear Because they're just like animals That's why the Bible compares them To like being a brute beast Because they just don't get it Because you don't get it that if we find out Who you are like you're in a lot Of trouble You're probably going to get it really bad They don't get that. Why? Because they're like brute beasts Okay He says they feed themselves without fear Clouds they are without water Carried about of winds Trees whose fruit withereth Without fruit twice dead Plucked up by the roots And of course when it says that they're twice dead It's referring to the fact that God views them as though Not only as though they're in the current hell But even as though they're in the Second compartment Not second compartment See that's the mistake I was talking about They're in the The lake of fire which is the Second death So he views them as twice dead Because people who are in current hell right now they're dead They shall be twice dead As soon as they reach the lake of fire Now obviously we can say that the ones who are in hell right now Are basically twice dead But when it says twice dead it's referring to The first and second death Current hell and then the second death Which is the lake of fire And this is referring to people who are still alive So false prophets Who are reprobates are people who are twice dead Yeah they're living They can breathe, they can eat They feel pain They feel hunger They still have all these These components working But they're dead in their trespasses and sin And God basically already sees them As though they're in the lake of fire They have a seared conscience They've been blotted out of the book of life But they are without shame And the reason that's important to Notice because sometimes when a false prophet gets Exposed it's like man how did that person just like Come to the church How does a person go to the sowing marathon Or they went sowing They talked about their Bible reading It's just like how do they Because they're without shame They have zero shame In their wickedness Okay Go back to second Peter Here's another thing is that false prophets Have a nefarious motive Okay so this is a really important Point because a lot of people get confused And they think well he's a false prophet he just needs to learn You know we just need to teach him We just got to show him the right way But what they fail to understand is that The Bible characterizes false prophets as being People who have a really Wicked agenda They have a nefarious motive For what they're doing And the worst type of reprobate that there is In this world aside from sodomites Are false prophets Because they have chosen a position of spiritual leadership In order to beguile Unstable souls for whatever Nefarious motive that they have to fulfill The nefarious motive Look at verse 14 Here's a motive having eyes full of adultery That cannot cease from sin Beguiling unstable souls What does that mean? Some people Actually become a pastor so they can commit adultery And You know a prime example of that is Jack Scott Okay He had eyes Full of adultery The Bible says in 2 Timothy chapter 3 That they are laden with Sins Romans chapter 1 says that they're filled with all Unrighteousness Okay They're filled with adultery They cannot cease from sin In other words they're not They can't be They can't be fixed What's the word I'm looking for? Rehabilitated What do they say about pedophiles? We need a what? Is that what they say? Rehabilitate? You know you can't fix a pedophile What'd you say? Yeah, amen You know you can't rehabilitate them Why? Because they cannot cease from sin He says In heart they have exercised With covetous practices Some people are just motivated by Covetousness So you know you don't want to look at the false prophet And say well every false prophet is like an adulterer Because some false prophets Are just motivated by other things For example Judas was not motivated By adultery What was his prime motivation? Money That's why he was stealing money His heart was exercised With covetous practices And this is very much a prevalent thing Amongst even non-denom churches Or churches in general Where you have pastors who are there In order to collect a check and yay to even steal money I personally Knew a person Who did this Who is probably still doing it to this day Who would literally steal We think like man Adam Fannin That guy stole money I know someone who is still doing it Who would literally take up Offerings for himself For his gas money Hold on to love Offerings And I would constantly go to the leadership And say this person and multiple people in the church Would come to me and say we need your help He's doing this and this and that I'm like why don't you go to the leadership And they're like we are coming to you And we can't tell because we're afraid of him I'm like I'll go tell I'll go rat that fool out And I told them I said hey multiple people Because out of the mouth of two or three witnesses Every word shall be established And I said three people told me That this is what's happening And one of them Just to let you know Was someone who currently has Money with him Because the pastor told him to hold on to it He was like the treasurer for that ministry Which that's not correct No one should ever hold on to any money You understand? The treasurer should not be holding money at his house We don't believe in the bank system The Jews And we'll just keep it at our house We'll put it under our mattress or something like that Illegal, wrong, sinful You're not above approach But you know Nothing was done about it I'm sure to this day And I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know What is he showing? He's showing the thoroughness of his judgement No one survives Sodom and Gomorrah other than Lot You know And his daughters And He says that He made them an ensemble to those that after should live ungodly This is not saying This is an example for every fag out there So they can stop being a fag or something Like oh I don't want this to come upon me No he did it to show Hey this is what's going to happen to you I'm going to get you like this That's what that means It's not an example to say Oh man maybe I shouldn't live ungodly like this God's just showing you the blueprints of what he's going to do to you He goes I did this and I let it go down in history And just in case you don't know biblical history He gave you know these historical events such as Pompeii Amen Just to let these Sodomites know this is what's going to happen to you I'm going to do this to you What happened with the world when it was flooded? Everyone was affected It was a complete judgment What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah was completely decimated He says in verse 7 And delivered just Lot Vex with the filthy conversation of the wicked For that righteous man dwelling among them and seen and hearing Vex's righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation Look what it says And to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished So here's the thing Even if someone is kind of mixed up You have a guy you know I was talking in the beginning who may be a false prophet but he's probably maybe he might be saved God can deliver that person out of temptation and kind of correct him Rectify his path Get that guy right He knows if that person is saved or not obviously And he knows how to deliver Because if you were to run into Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah would be like what the heck is this guy What are you doing here Are you gay Are you one of them You can get confused about that and kind of wonder You know what I mean Because that guy is living among them He's living in San Francisco He's there with them So it's just like hey bro I'm just wondering Are you one of them But what happened is that Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed and he was delivered He was saved yet so as by fire Literally And so this shows me that You know there's some Lot's in this world Who could potentially be teaching some stupid stuff But you know what If they're truly saved If they're really sincere They're going to come out of that They're willing to be corrected They're willing to be rectified And then what he'll do is that he'll take that punishment And then he'll reserve it For the ungodly So this is showing us that You know we should rest content knowing that God will Punish the false prophets of this world You know Do you know a false prophet Is there someone that you're thinking about now You're like man this guy's getting away With just teaching heresy And just like he's doing it Don't worry look God is very thorough If he was able to just Destroy the whole world swiftly If he was able to just overthrow Sodom and Gomorrah He can do it for them too They'll be exposed They'll be manifest okay And one of the reasons I'm preaching this is just because You know it's just a good reminder to us as a church To not be paranoid If false prophets do Infiltrate our church like man are they among us I guess we'll find out Don't worry about it Have a good time Walk with God Win souls to Christ Love everyone in the church Give everyone the benefit of the doubt And don't try to like Don't try to predict who the next false prophet is in our church or something Don't try to predict it Don't try to call out Oh man I don't know about this person Get out of here with that Okay look The only one who really knows who all the false prophets are Is the Lord himself Right From what I remember the twelve disciples The three disciples The ones who were closest to the Lord Even they couldn't figure out that Judas Was the guy And they were with each other longer than we were with each other Right They're with each other every single day They're sleeping in the same area They're eating the same food They're doing ministry And you know I don't remember any of them Ever trying to like Man who do you think is a false prophet among us You know They just kind of figured everyone was a prophet of the Lord They were following their disciples And then they were shocked at the end But you know what Let me just say this It's not a bad thing if you're caught off guard When it comes to false prophets Don't think someone just caught you off guard And man they took you for No Because it doesn't affect you in any way If we find out that someone is a false prophet in our church It's like man I was duped My life's over What will I do now I don't even deserve to be here What kind of Christian I didn't even see it It's like Water off a duck's back Oh man he was a false prophet Well I definitely didn't see that coming So is he out Then you move on with your life You don't have to be right about everyone You understand Now me as a pastor Obviously I have to discern And I pray for discernment You know I pray that the Lord reveals things to me But I promise you I don't go around Like you know Who's the Judas here I just kind of like And if I hear something I hear something If I don't I don't I don't go looking for the false prophet I come to church looking for the brethren in Christ Not coming in here trying to police And figure out who the wicked person is You understand And so be a church Let's be a church that is mature enough To know that false prophets False prophets exist But don't be so immature That you think that potentially there's one in here right now And allow that To affect your life in such a way That you just can't enjoy church You understand Teachings in the Bible And I pray God that you would help us Lord To recognize the signs And the red flags Lord And I pray that they would make themselves manifest Lord And I pray that you would help us Lord To recognize the signs And the red flags Lord And I pray that they would make themselves manifest Lord And I pray that you would help us Lord To recognize the signs And the red flags Lord And I pray that they would make themselves manifest Lord And Lord may you continue to protect our church Throughout the years And even when false prophets do come Lord May they be exposed And may we take out the trash And just continue to move on And do ministry for you We love you so much and we thank you and pray these things in Jesus name Amen Please enter your songbooks to song number 29 Song number 29 At the cross Song number 29 Alas and did my Savior bleed All together nice and loud on that first verse Alas and did my Savior bleed And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And did my sovereign And I would need And I would need And I would need That sacred hand To such a worm That I At the cross At the cross Where I first saw the light And the burden of my heart Rolled away It was there by faith All the day Was it for crimes That I have done He groaned Upon a tree Amazing Pity Grace unknown And love beyond Decree At the cross At the cross where I first saw the light And the burden of my heart Rolled away It was there by faith I received my Sign and now I am happy all the day Well Like the sun In darkness I And shine his Glories in When Christ The mighty maker Died for man The creature sinned At the cross At the cross where I first Saw the light And the burden of my heart Rolled away It was there by faith I received my Sign and now I am happy all the day But drops Of grief can There repay The debt of love I owe Dear Lord Myself Awaint Is all that I Can do At the cross At the cross where I first Saw the light And the burden of my heart Rolled away It was there by faith I received my Sign and now I am happy all the day Amen.
