All right, good evening everybody and welcome to Sunday night service at Shield of Faith Baptist Church. It's good to have friends here, visitors. It's good to see everybody back. So let's just open our hymn books please and we'll turn to song number 121, Like a River Glorious. And let's all lift up our voices together. Sing as unto the Lord. 121, Like a River Glorious, on the first. Like a river glorious is God's perfect peace, Over all victorious in its priding peace. Perfect yet it groweth, fuller every day. Perfect yet it groweth, deeper all the way. Stayed upon Japovah, hearts are fully blessed. Finding as he promised, perfect peace and rest, In the hallow of his blessed hand. Never foe can follow, never traitor stand. Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care, Not a blast of hurry, touch the Spirit there. Stayed upon Japovah, hearts are fully blessed. Finding as he promised, perfect peace and rest, Every joy or triumph alleth from above. Traced upon our dial by the Son of God, We may trust him fully, all for us to do. May you trust him wholly, find him wholly true. Stayed upon Japovah, hearts are fully blessed. Finding as he promised, perfect peace and rest. All right, let's turn to song number 19. There is a fountain, amen. We'll sing the first four verses. Song number 19, there is a fountain. First four verses. There is a fountain filled with blood, Gone from eternal space. When sinners plunge beneath that flood, Lose all their guilty stains. Lose all their guilty stains. Lose all their guilty stains. There is a fountain. Lose all their guilty stains. The dying thief rejoices to see, That fountain in his grave. And there may I, though vile, As he wash all my sins away, Wash all my sins away, Wash all my sins away. And there may I, though vile, As he wash all my sins away, Dear dying lamb, my precious blood, I'll never lose its power. Till all the ransomed truths of God Be saved to sin no more. Be saved to sin no more. Be saved to sin no more. Till all the ransomed truths of God Be saved to sin no more. Fourth and last, through sins by faith, I saw the stream of flowing wounds of time, Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die. And shall be till I die. And shall be till I die. Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die. The main time of Saturday morning is a 1030 meeting right here. All the other times are subject to change. 208-391-5323 is the number to call. Let's see here, back page tonight will be in the first part of Hebrews chapter number 6. We'll be doing a sowing marathon in Fruitland next Saturday. That is the 21st. So normally the sowing time and location doesn't change for here. I always say that. But let me just say this. If you want to go sowing here but you don't want to go to Fruitland or you got things going on, just let me know. We'll make sure that you're able to go here. We'll get you all set up, all taken care of. I'll be sending out the location later on this week and all that stuff. Let's see here, verse of the week. Psalm 139 verse 8 which says, If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there. If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. We talked about that this morning. We are a family integrated church. What that means is we don't separate children from their parents for any reason. Children are always welcome in the service. Dad's still got to use the break room over here. I'm sorry about that. Mom's mother baby room should be set up and ready to go. Let's see here. Don't forget to turn your phone off or place it on silent so it's not a distraction. And the very bottom line says consistency builds intimacy. We talked about that last Sunday morning. And those closing back, that is our blessing rack. If you see something back there that you like, take it. We don't charge for things here at church. And with that being said, we're going to have one more song before we receive the opportunity. All right, let's grab those hymn books one more time, please. We'll turn to song number 301, Sweet Hour of Prayer. And let's sing it with all our heart. 301, Sweet Hour of Prayer. On the first. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. That calls me from the world of care. And bids me at my Father's throne. Make all my wants and wishes known. In seasons of distress. And grief. My soul has often found relief. And oft escape. The tempest matter by thy return. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Great Father with His grace. Thou cast on him. My every care and wait for thee. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Sweet Hour of Prayer. Come slowly, she'll share, till from Mount Pisca's lofty hide, I view my home and take my flight. Miss from the flesh, I'll drop and rise to seize the everlasting prize and shout while passing through the air, farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer. Amen. All right, well let's go ahead and pray. Thank you so much, Lord, again for allowing us to be able to meet here this evening and just pray that you bless the service, Lord, and bless the fellowship afterwards and be with us as we go throughout a week. And again, Lord, we thank you for all that you do for us in Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. Amen. All right, please turn your Bibles to Hebrews chapter number six. And remember you could use this over here to find Hebrews. Hebrews chapter number six, continuing our study through the book of Hebrews. Hebrews chapter number six, and as our custom, we'll be reading through the entire chapter together. Hebrews chapter number six, starting at verse number one, the Bible reads, Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meat for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God. But that which bear thorns and briars is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing, whose end is to be burned. But beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous, to forget your work, and labor of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end, that ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise, the immutability of his counsel confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge, to lay hold upon the hope set before us, which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, in which it entereth into that within the veil. Whether the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made and high priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek. Brother Jeff, would you pray for us? All right, amen. So we are still in the book of Hebrews. Again, the theme of Hebrews is what? Okay, that's right, the superiority of Christ, that our profession of faith, Christianity, if you will, the New Testament, the New Covenant, is better than the old system. It is superior. So the idea here is why would somebody want to go back to those things? Okay, why would you want to go back to a religious system that teaches dead works, so on, so forth, things of that nature? Now there are people out there that will say, well, this book's written to Hebrews, this is for when they come back and blah, blah, blah. You know, and they'll start to lie and say these things don't really apply to you, but that's not true. These things do apply to you. I mean, think about it. You know, okay, what audience is the book of First and Second Corinthians geared towards? Written to the Corinthians. But is it for us today? Absolutely. What about the Galatians? Yeah, that's for us today as well. What about the book to the Thessalonians? Is that just for the Thessalonians, not for us today? No, it's for every Christian. It's the Word of God. Okay, and so again, don't let that type of thing bother you. That's very important for what we're studying today. Now we're going to be going through verse number 12. We're actually going to back up into chapter number five here in a moment, so go back to Hebrews chapter number five, and we'll be honest with you, okay? The stuff that we're about to cover today is going to require you to pay attention, and I do want to apologize ahead of time. This is not easy to understand, okay? You're going to see that at the end of chapter five, we talked about this last week, Paul starts to drop a big truth bomb on these Hebrews and basically tells them, hey, you guys are on the milk. You know, you guys are supposed to be teaching the Word of God, but you're on the milk. You're no longer skillful, okay? We'll get into that here in a second. Then he proceeds to give them a giant steak, okay? I've got this all unpacked. There are many different, I don't want to say many, but there's different ways that saved pastors will teach. Hebrews chapter number six, I don't have a problem with those. I'm going to go through the way that I understand it. We're going to talk about that. The thing that Hebrews six is not teaching you is that you can lose your salvation, okay? What you guys need to understand, and I know that you do understand, and what you need to remember is that the world's religious systems, I'm talking about the Nazarenes, I'm talking about the Catholics, the Mormons, the JDubs, some Southern Baptists, a lot of people, they will often quote Hebrews six to try to teach that you could lose your salvation, okay? Nothing could be further from the truth. Once you are saved, you are always saved. There is no way that that could be taken away from you or that you could fall out of the faith and all of a sudden now wind up going to hell. That is not true. That is false doctrine. We're going to cover that again tonight, but before we go on to Hebrews chapter six and start going through it, verse number one, we just read the chapter. What's the first word of Hebrews six verse one? Therefore, right. Anytime, look, anytime you start a chapter off with a therefore, you need to make sure you go find the wherefore. Therefore is therefore, okay? You need to understand why it says that, okay? So I know we went through chapter five last week, but we really need to again lay a foundation here and go back and kind of talk about this because it's going to play into what the meaning is of Hebrews six, four, five, six, and seven, and eight, and all that stuff that a lot of people struggle with, okay? So again, we're going to start reading here in verse 11. It kind of changes gears in chapter number five, and Paul starts to get into a warning to these Hebrew believers, these Hebrews that were saved. So you have to understand, right, I think that what Christ was put on the cross, he died, rose again. Most people say that probably took place when they say 30, 80, or something like that, another date that everybody uses, and that Rome was destroyed in 70, 80, right? So there's this period in between Christ on the cross, no matter what date, you know, it was. Just understand this, from when Christ died on the cross, was buried, rose again, till the time that the Romans came in and actually completely obliterated Jerusalem, destroyed the temple, scattered the Jews throughout the rest of the world. During that period of time, there was this struggle where Hebrews, or Jews, if you will, are seeing their brethren get saved and all of a sudden leave the temple and no longer do the diverse washings, the carnal ordinances, and things like that, as a believer shouldn't do those things. And so what you have now is you have a group of people, and you see this in the Galatian church, you see this just through reading the the New Testament, you have these people coming in and trying to convince Hebrews or Jews and saying, hey, you need to come back to the old system, you need to come back to the washings, you need to come back to these different things. And the writer of Hebrews, who I believe is Paul, is telling people, hey, no, no, that is not wise, that is not okay. We're supposed to leave those things behind. Those things were a shadow of things to come. Christ fulfilled all of those ordinances, okay? So with that being said, look at verse number 11 of Hebrews chapter 5. So it says this, he says, of whom we have many things to say and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. So here again, Paul, who I believe wrote this, is starting to drop a big truth bomb on these Christians and saying, hey, look, you know, you guys were at a point where you believed the gospel. And if there was a group of people who should be teachers, think about it during this time, it would be them because they came directly out of that Old Testament system where they did the sacrifices, where they did the carnal ordinances. So when they got saved, having that background, I mean, the light bulbs should have gone off and they should have been like the ones out there like, hey, no, no, this is what those things meant. Christ fulfilled them in this way. I mean, think about that. If you met a person back then who came out of that, like the apostle Paul, right? I mean, you would be blown away at their explanation, their experiences in that religion and how they would be able to now connect the New Testament to those things and the fulfillment. I mean, why do you think Paul was such a powerhouse? Because he was a Pharisee. He was trained up in that and he followed his religion, I mean, zealously among many of his predecessors, among many of his friends and those who he grew up with, right? So he knows this and he's like, why am I the only one that's out here doing this work? Why aren't you guys out here doing this? And so what he says is you guys are dull of hearing and that is a place where the believer should not ever find himself. You do not want to be dull of hearing and we talked about this last week. He's not saying you guys need hearing aids. You know, you haven't been wearing your hearing plugs, okay, so you're starting to lose your hearing. No, he's saying you guys are not listening to the truth like you should. Look at verse 12. He says, for when the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again, which be the first principles of the oracles of God. What are the oracles of God? Yeah, it's the word of God. It's the Bible. It's basic doctrines. It's advanced doctrines. It's all doctrine, okay? That's the oracles of God. All of those things or what he's talking about, look at after the semicolon there, he says, and are become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat. So what's the conclusion that we can draw here? Well, if you become dull of hearing where you're like, oh, church again. Oh, I got to read the Bible again. Oh, here's the same old thing. I know you can't lose it. You can start to develop this hardening in your heart, this attitude. And once that sets in, okay, it does big time damage. It can ruin your Christian life, okay? And we're going to talk about that. Please keep that in mind. And so he's saying you guys are headed down this wrong path. He's like, you're supposed to be on the strong meat. You're supposed to be ones who are going out and teaching Christ. You're supposed to use your past experience. You should use that religious system that you came out of as an illustration, as examples, and so on and so forth. But you're not. He's like, you guys have become like the Corinthians, right? Where you're just on the milk. And look what he says about people who are on the milk. Verse 13, he says, for everyone that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. Now, again, there are people in here on different levels when it comes to Christianity. Some people have read and understand and are doing a lot because you've been around for a while, you've been applying for a while, and some of you have not. That's okay. The idea is that you don't get to a certain level where you've spent years reading, studying, doing the work of God, and then you slide all the way back to milk status, okay? That's what you do not want because you could get to a point where God says, you know what? I'm just going to let you hang out here in the world and talk to you later, okay? And you'll see that here in a moment. But he says, for everyone that useth milk is unskillful. It's not necessarily a bad thing, right? Every single one of us has been a babe in Christ at some point. The day you get saved, you're a babe in Christ. But look, when you're starting a new job, for example, okay, let's just say you go down and you start working with Brother Jeff and doing plumbing and tomorrow is going to be your first day. Would it be said about you that you're a skillful plumber? Not at all. It takes time. It takes energy. It takes learning in order. You know, I mean, it takes the milk. It takes the basic principles of his trade, of Jeff's trade, of being a plumber and learning these things and using these things and growing in those things, right? It takes time to become skillful. It's the same thing with the Christian life. It takes time for you to read the Word of God, to come to church, to apply these things in your life so that you can grow. And what Paul is telling these guys here is, hey, you guys should be teachers, but now all of a sudden you're unskillful, right? So what he's saying is, look, if you're on milk status, okay, you know, it's just not going to be said that you're skillful. That's all. Now, if you've been to the point to where like you were an apprentice plumber and all of a sudden you take a few years off and you're like, I don't care about these, you know, who cares about a tape measure? You know, who cares what temperature my torch should be? Who cares about thread protrusion and all of this stuff, right? Who cares about plumber's tape? Who cares about leaks? A little leak's not going to hurt anybody. I'll just put some pizza on it, you know, put some cheese on there. Or some glue, whatever I've got. It's fine, okay? There are people out there like that, okay? There are Christians out there that kind of get that attitude and they start to let things slip. Who cares about that? I'm, you know, that's all. I think he's a little too extreme, blah, blah, blah. What happens? Problems happen. Look, you wouldn't go and work with Brother Jeff for four years and then all of a sudden be like, you know what, we don't need to measure these pipes. Let's just eyeball it, right? He's gonna be like, what are you doing? You're crazy. Same thing with an electrician. You're not going to go work with an electrician for four years, get certified, get that journeyman status, and then be like, who cares about Ohm's Law? Who cares about how electricity works? You know, I don't need my safety gear on. You know, I've been doing this for years, right? No, when you start acting like that, you move backwards. You start becoming unskillful at the time where you should be a teacher in your trade. You are now no longer a teacher. You're immature. You're an infantile adult. I used to have a pastor that would say that. You're an infantile adult, right? This is what we are trying to avoid. This is the issue that the writer of Hebrews is trying to hammer out of these Hebrew Christians. And obviously this applies to us because every single one of us could go down this road. Now look what he says about strong meat in verse 14. He says, but strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Okay? Wow, that is a mouthful there. Now, sometimes, you know, we've played this game here now for three years. You know, I've told some of you, you know, it's like clockwork. I can take a look at somebody and there's nothing special about me. It's just because I've been doing this Christian thing for a long time. And I can take a look at somebody and I can tell you almost their timeline. Like, this is probably what's going to happen with this individual if this behavior does not change. Here's what they're going to do and what always happens. Exactly what I said, right? You know, sometimes people will be like, man, how'd you know that? You know, some guys will call from other...how'd you know that person was going to do that? You talked about that like two years ago. And the only reason I know that is because I read and study the Bible. But not just that, I try to apply these things in my daily life, you know? For example, I'm in the service industry. You guys know this. I go to people's homes all day long. Well, look, I spend a lot of time studying my trade, but I also spend a lot of time studying the Bible and analyzing people with the Bible when I go to their homes. So I knock on someone's door. Like, I'm instantly, when I pull up to the driveway, I'm trying to figure out what type of person they are, okay? I start to see Buddha statues, owls, you know, Joe and the Ho sticker, you know, stuff like that. I'm like, I'm starting to put together the type of person that I'm dealing with here, you know? And I go inside and I start to do an audit of what kind of person this is. What's on the walls? What's going on? What's their attitude like, you know? And that has helped me discern human behavior tremendously. And it will help you do the same thing. Do the Word of God. Take the things that you learn and put them to use. Exercise them. Use your tools. And you know what's going to happen? You will highly develop your skills in discernment, okay? You want to be the type of person that can discern both good and evil. Let me tell you something. Christians are capable of both. Christians are capable of doing good and they are capable of doing evil, okay? And you can spot their patterns. You can spot what they're going to do based off of how they talk, the choices that they make, the things that they say, how they conduct themselves, so on and so on. And look, I'm not trying to make anyone in here paranoid. I'm just being honest with you. This is real life. This is what happens. Look, be grateful for this. You know, read this verse here and embrace it. Come to church. Hear the Word of God. Go home. Read the Bible. Study these things and use the Word of God because when you do, it will harness. It will help your discernment out and it's going to save you a lot of heartache. It's going to help you understand who you should invest more time in. I mean, it will save you so much pain, so much trouble, and so much heartache in your life. I mean, not only your Christian life, but even at work. You say, well, how do I know I can trust this guy? You know, you're going to know that by understanding human behavior in the Bible. You're going to understand that by learning personality traits, okay? These things are very important to understand for the believer. So let's read that verse one more time. So Paul says, but strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age. So this is a benefit for us, right? This is some motivation for us. You say, what's in it for me? Why should I want to grow as a Christian? I'm already saved. What's the point? Well, here's the point. To have a better quality of life, to understand what's going on around you, to protect yourself, to protect your family, to protect your church, everything that you are involved in. So you want to get off that milk as soon as possible, okay? And how do you do that? By reading the word of God, by coming to church, by using these things, right? But strong meat belongeth to them that are full age, even those who by reason of use. Look, if you just hear one thing a Sunday and you go and apply that Monday, Tuesday, you know what? You're going to grow exponentially. You are going to grow, you are going to mature, you are going to find out that you are becoming a different person. This is how we are supposed to operate as God's people, okay? So keep those things in your mind. Now let's go to chapter number six, okay? Let's read this almost like there's no chapters and verses. So with that in mind, okay, now please keep in mind, who is the audience? Hebrews 511 through Hebrews 514. Is it the heathen? No, it's the saved. It's Christians, okay? But furthermore, who is it? It's babes in Christ, okay? So you see that there. So he says this, therefore, now what does the word therefore mean? Yes, for this reason, okay? So he's saying for this reason, verse one, therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to, or sorry, go on unto perfection, okay? So this is the goal here. He's not saying let's toss away doctrine, right? He's not saying, hey, take the Bible. We don't really need the Old Testament, you know, let's pull an Andy Stanley, right? And let's just make up our own religion. Let's just have a grand old time. No, he's not saying that, okay? He's saying let's leave the milk milk, okay? Let's use those things, but let's leave those things and move on, okay? Who in here has ever gone to a church where every sermon was about salvation? Yeah, I have, you know, some of you have, some of you maybe haven't. Those churches are out there. There are churches that you can go to, you'll hear literally the same message preached every week. Now I've got my hobby horses, every preacher does. I've got the things that just irk me and I every chance I get, boy, I stick it to them and I love it and thank God for that and I'll never stop because I'm human, right? You guys will be the same way. There are things that will bother you and even ladies, you know, when you're out preaching the gospel, there's gonna be things that you like to hammer home. Amen, you know, hammer those things home. But what he's saying here, therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection, right? That perfection there is not saying without sin. Everybody has sin, okay? Everybody has sin. He's saying a complete, a mature believer, if you will. He says, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God. So, look, I got a nasty gram. How was that, a week ago? Maybe a week and a half ago? Somebody's like, yeah, I heard about your church and I listened to a few things, you got a lot of great things to say, but I never heard the gospel, okay? We have a gospel presentation on our YouTube channel. It's like, how'd you hear about us? Well, I found a card on my door. Really? You know what that means? We knocked on your door on a non-church service time, obviously, to give you the gospel. And now you want to accuse me of not being a good preacher because I don't preach the gospel every single sermon, okay? Look, the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ is what saves us. That is milk, though. Look, after you get saved, now what you need to do is learn how to communicate that truth and how to defend that truth, okay? That's what we need to understand here. So he says, hey, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works. What does that mean? What is repentance for? First of all, let's back up. What are dead works? Dead works are from dead churches. Let's just put it that way, okay? These dead churches, these churches that call themselves churches, that say they have a name but are dead. Churches that do not preach the right gospel. Churches that are ran by pastors and have most of the congregants who are not saved, right? But they're out in the community and they're handing out ham sandwiches. They're stirring up that porridge and they're, oh, look at all the good works that we've done. Oh, yeah, yeah, we took shoes everywhere. We gave all the stuff away. Those are dead works. Those mean nothing. Our works outside of Christ are dead. They mean nothing. God doesn't look down. He's like, oh, you know the UN, they've given so much to poor people. I know they hate my guts but I'm gonna spare them in the judgment. Does anybody in here think that's how God is? No, that's not how God is, okay? That is absolutely preposterous. That is absurd. That is false doctrine, okay? So what he's saying is, hey, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and faith toward God. He's basically saying, hey, don't keep preaching the same thing every single service, okay? We understand. Yes, we got it, okay? We turn. Repent means to turn or to change your direction. I say this all the time. I was headed to Albertsons to buy some grape juice, you know, the organic kind. I realized it was $13 a bottle so I repented and went to Fred Meyer where I can earn fuel points and it's only six dollars or maybe four dollars a jar, okay? And that's a true story. That's how I got that analogy, okay? So what he is saying here is, hey, you know, let's not just keep laying again the same doctrine, okay? Turning from dead works and being saved. That's obviously important. And then in verse 2, he says, of the doctrine of baptisms, right? It doesn't say baptism. Baptism, why is it plural? Because there's different baptisms, right? There's the wet baptism where, I'll just explain this real quick, okay? What does it mean when a person gets baptized into water? Is that to get saved? No, no. Water baptism doesn't save you. All that is is a ritual. That is just an identification thing that we do to symbolize, basically, the person getting baptized is just symbolizing to the congregation, hey, I'm saved. I believe the gospel and it's a picture of salvation. Basically, that's what that is. Now, when you get saved and you call upon the name of the Lord, you become born again. Are you baptized? Yes, you're baptized into the body of Christ. The word baptizer or baptism means to be placed into. Go read Romans chapter 6. I don't have time to get into it right now. In fact, there's a flyer on that table over there that explains everything you ever want to know about baptism. I would encourage you to take that before you leave. So he says, hey, of the doctrines of baptism, verse 2, and of the laying on of hands and of the resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgment. Now, what the writer here is also bringing up is saying, hey, you know, we don't need to spend all of our time just on these things, baptisms. Well, you know, if you study the Old Testament, you know, there were diverse washings and we'll get into that in a couple of weeks, right? There were diverse washings. There were different rituals that God had the children of Israel do and they pictured certain things, okay? And some of those could be described as baptisms. Laying on of hands, okay? Well, did you see that in Acts? You saw the apostles that would lay hands on people. Are we commanded to lay hands on people today? Well, to ordain someone for the ministry, of course, okay? So there's that. You could apply that to this verse here. Laying on of hands. Well, think about a Hebrew Christian or a Jewish person before they became saved, before they became Christian. What did they do? Well, they would take a sacrifice. They would bring it to the temple. They would lay hands on that thing and they would identify with it and we don't have time to get into that. But the writer here is simply saying, hey, let's not spend all of our time on these basic things. Let's get the milk down. Let's learn how to communicate the milk and let's move on, right? Let's go on to perfection, on to maturation, on to completeness. Let's grow. Let's grow in the Lord. Let's grow in God. Now, look at verse number three, just to prove my point. He says, and this will we do if God permit. And that's the right attitude. He's saying, we're going to do all this stuff. We're going to baptize people, right? We're going to baptize them. I mean, they're going to get saved. We're going to preach the gospel. People are going to get baptized by the Holy Ghost. We're going to try to bring them into church and set up a time where they can be, you know, baptized in water just as a public, you know, identification. We're going to do all these things. We're going to teach the resurrection of the dead. We're going to talk about eternal judgment. We will do these things. We're not just going to have a head knowledge of them though, okay? He's saying we will do these things. Why do them? Because by reason of use, your discernment goes up and you're more capable to discern good and evil, which is getting harder in today's day and age, okay? So, let's move on here. We're going to read verses six, I'm sorry, verses four through six, and we're going to come back and break them down slowly. So, let's do that here. Let's see here. Look at verse number four, Hebrews 6, verse four, who says this, for it is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come, if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh and put him to an open shame. Let's back up to verse number four, okay? We're going to spend a little bit of time going through this because this is a big one here. This is one people go to to teach you that you can lose your salvation. One of the things I was doing in here before I came out was trying to find heretics teaching that very same thing. First one that popped up, John MacArthur, okay? Teaching that the, well, what this means here is that these were pretenders. These were pretender believers, okay? That's what he says. Look, that is not true. So, let's back up here and talk about some things. He says this, Hebrews 6, verse 4, for it is impossible, meaning what he's about to say is not possible, okay? So, for it is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost. Let's stop right there. Go to Romans chapter 5, Romans chapter number 5. So, we're talking about a group of people who the writer here says, hey, there's something impossible. Now, why is this something impossible? Well, it's impossible because these people have been made partakers of the Holy Ghost, okay? That's what he's saying. Now, some people teach, okay, well, this passage teaches that you can lose your salvation. I had a Nazarene woman probably 15 years ago try and teach me that. And she brought me to this passage here and said, this proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that you can be a Christian, you can be in the Holy Ghost and all this stuff and still lose your salvation. That's false doctrine. That's not what this is saying at all, okay? The key phrase there, we're made partakers of the Holy Ghost. Who makes the new man inside of you? Is it you or is it the Lord? It's the Lord. Romans chapter 5, look at verse 19. It says this, for as by one man's disobedience, many were made sinners. Well, who's that man? Who's that man? It's Adam, right? Because of Adam, we're all living this life, okay? And you can't say that you wouldn't have done the same thing if you were there because we're men, we would have done that. So, for as by one man's disobedience, many were made sinners. And in that context, obviously, everybody's a sinner. Look at the rest of the verse. So, by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. So, because Jesus Christ was obedient, because he sacrificed his own life, he lived a perfect life, he was able to be the satisfaction, the propitiation for the sins of the entire world. When you believe that truth and you call upon him to save you, he makes you righteous. He imputes righteousness unto you. He programs that into you, he gives that to you. You do not do that yourself. What you did is simply take the faith that he gave you, your measure of faith, and you put it on him. You are saved. But notice the language there. So, by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. So, when you call upon the name of the Lord for salvation, he makes you righteous. You don't make yourself righteous. Okay? Go to chapter number eight, Romans chapter number eight. So, Romans chapter number eight, we're going to look at verse number two. It says this, for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. This could preach all night long. Okay? One more time, for the law of the spirit of life in Christ hath made me free from the law of sin and death. That means when you call upon him to save you, he saves you forever. He makes you righteous. Your freedom to not be in bondage to sin, to not have to pay that debt is because of him. He made you like that. Now, go to Hebrews chapter number three. Just bringing these verses up to highlight to you the importance of when it says, made partakers. Who is it that makes you that partaker of the Holy Ghost? It is Christ. Hebrews chapter three, look at verse 14. We talked about this a few weeks ago, but let's read it again. Verse 14 says, for we are made partakers of who? Christ. If we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast into the end. Now, what that's not saying, and I spent time talking about this a few weeks ago, you might have to go back and listen to the sermon again. He's not saying you're saved as long as you just hold the super confidence that you're saved. It's not what he's saying at all. Okay? What he's simply saying is, hey, you're not going to seem double-minded. You're not going to seem unstable. You're not going to seem like one of those in the Old Testament who fell out of formation, if you will. He's saying this, for we are made partakers of Christ. And then he goes on to say, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast into the end, well, if you read the verses after that, which we don't have time to get into, you know what? You're not going to seem like you're not saved. We spent time last week even going over that again. So, the point being here is the beginning of this verse, for we are made partakers of Christ. Now, does that mean that Christ looks down and says, you're saved, you're lost? No, of course not. That's Calvinism. That's false doctrine, right? The idea here is that when you call upon him, he makes you a partaker of him. He makes a new man inside of you. He gives you righteousness. He seals you unto the day of redemption. He saves you forever. You're saved forever. That can never be undone. Okay? Let's go back to Hebrews chapter number 6. And let's, with that in mind, read verse number 4 again. So, he says, for it is impossible for those who are once enlightened. Now, notice the process here because there's a little bit of a process to getting saved. You have to have somebody preach you the word of God, right? You know, you need to, first of all, believe it, right? If you preach somebody the gospel and they don't believe the Bible, they don't believe what you're telling them, they're not going to get saved. Even if they understand what you're saying, they're like, okay, look, this happens to us all the time. You're communicating the gospel, right? They get it. Like, okay, it's not by works, they get it. But they decline it, right? I don't want any part of that, okay? That is not being enlightened. So, he says, for it is impossible for those who are once enlightened. So, after enlightenment, he says, and have tasted of the heavenly gifts, they're like, oh, it's a free gift. There's no strings attached? It's not probationary? Oh, it's salvific? Salvation, he saves us? So, they taste of the heavenly gift. What's the next step? Made a partaker of the Holy Ghost. So, you know this, we go knock on the door, we find somebody who's interested, we preach them the word of God, they believe the word of God, right, that they get enlightened. The next step is, they understand the gift because somebody has to understand the record to be saved, right? They have to understand that the record is eternal life. That's the heavenly gift. What's the next step? When they call upon him, they are placed into the body of Christ. They are sealed until the day of redemption. They are indwelt now by the Holy Ghost. They are made partakers of the Holy Ghost, okay? So, that is what he's talking about here. Look at verse number five. He says, and have tasted of the good word of God and the powers of the world to come. So, these are people who are understanding salvation. They understand this. Look at verse six. So, it's impossible. If they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify, that is present tense. We're going to come back and talk about that, okay? They crucify present tense to themselves, the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Let's back up here. Let's just talk about this one. Who's ever gone up to somebody, knocked on their door, and they're like, you know, you ask them, you know, if you were to die today, are you 100% sure you'd go to heaven? They're like, I'm not sure, you know. I used to go to church. I used to be in this thing. And you start preaching them the gospel. And they're like, no, no, that's what I believe. Right, and they start finishing it for you. They're like, no, I believe it. Somebody, you know, went and somebody told me that, and I prayed. No, now I remember. Right, and they're like, yeah, I get it. Right, they're like, I just kind of maybe thought I had to do that again. Or like, I wasn't sure. Right, who's ever had somebody like that? Some of us have had people like that. Well, those people, what they're doing is shameful. Right, and furthermore, let's back up even further. Let's go to the person who says, no, no, no, no, you have to, you know, die daily to stay saved. You have to follow the right path to stay saved. You know what they're doing? They're mocking Christ. They are literally, in a sense, crucifying him every single day. That's what the Catholic Church does. Okay, they look at the cross. They don't understand the gospel. They say, no, no, no, you have to die daily for him. Otherwise, you're not getting in. False doctrine. It's not true. Hebrews chapter 1, verse 3 tells you that. He by himself purged our sins one time. One and done. When Christ does something, when God does something, it is final. It is finished. Okay, so let's break this down here and talk about the first part of verse number six. If they shall fall away. Let's stop. Who are the they? Let's go back to verse number five. I'm sorry, go back to verse number four. It says, for it is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift, were made partakers of the Holy Ghost and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come. If they shall fall away. Let's stop there. We're talking about those who were made partakers, who heard the word of God, tasted of the heavenly gift, believed, were made partakers, sealed to the day of redemption. Okay? And what he's saying, if they shall fall away. Now let me ask you a question. Is it possible for a Christian to fall away from truth? Absolutely. We see this all the time. What are we up to now? Probably 30 plus people who we've seen that happen to. Well, some of them were never in the truth to begin with. But it is possible for a believer to just throw in the towel and say, I'm done. I'm going to go after some mammon, deal with it. God's going to bless me no matter what. There are people with that attitude. Okay? So let's stop right there and talk about this. For if they, the they is found in verse number four, those who were made partakers. You don't make anything. This is what we need to communicate to the world. People think, oh, I make my way to heaven. I'm the one in charge. No, that sounds like Satanism to me. Okay? That's what that sounds like. No. For if they shall fall away. Let's stop right there and take a look at something. Let's see. You go to go to Second Thessalonians Chapter two. Go back in your Bible T books. Second Thessalonians Chapter number two. Flip back there for a second. Let's look at something here. Fall away. Does that sound familiar to anybody in here? Fall away. Exactly. Let's take a look at this concept here. Okay? Let's look at verse number three. Second Thessalonians Chapter two, verse three. Look at what it says. Paul says this, let no man deceive you by any means for that day. So the day of the Lord for that day or not, sorry, the day of the Lord, the day that the anti-crisis, you know, revealed and all that. It says, let no man deceive you by any means for that day shall not come. Except there come a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed. The son of perdition who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God showing himself that he is God. Okay, let's back up and talk about this here. So what is Paul saying? Hey, don't let anybody deceive you into thinking that the day of Christ is like right now or it's imminent. Christ could come back at any moment. Okay? No, something has to happen before Christ is going to come back. He wants us to understand this and he wants us to know this. And that thing is a falling away. Well, what's a falling away? Well, if you go down to your pre-trib dispensational church, they're going to say, well, that's a catching away. That's when we go up. We fall up. Okay? No, that's not what it's talking about. Okay? I can prove this to you. Go to Matthew 5. So after the falling away, something happens. What is that? The man of sin gets revealed. The anti-Christ gets revealed. Interesting. How does that work? So you're telling me, if a bunch of Christians in the world fall away and say, you know what? I'm good. I'm going to go seek mammon. I'm going to do whatever I want to. There's consequences for that. Bad things happen. The reason why our nation is in the trouble that it is in today is because a lack of men of God. There is a lack today of people willing to stand up and call truth, truth. Jesus talks about this. Matthew 5, look at verse number 13. Jesus says this, ye, that is plural for all of you. He's talking to people that are saved here. He says, ye are the salt of the earth. Stop right there. What does salt do? Yeah, exactly. It preserves. It preserves. So Jesus is saying that Christian people, people that are saved, are like salt. We preserve the earth. Okay, everybody following? Look at the rest of the verse. But if the salt have lost his saviour wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men. Okay, you know there was a time in human history where the nation of Israel was called to be that salt and they ceased to be salty. What happened? They were conquered. Their nation split. Eventually, the Assyrians came in, conquered the northern kingdom. Eventually, the Babylonians came in and conquered Judah. Okay? But you know what? That same thing is going to happen in the end times. There's going to be a falling away, a departure from truth. There will be a lack of Christian people willing to stand up and preach truth. And the result is an abundance of wickedness and unrighteousness. Okay? So, verse 14, ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. So Jesus is saying, not only are we salt, but we are light. Why are we light? Because we shed light on darkness. We have the Word of God. We have the truth. We are the ones that say, hey, no, that is not right. That is wrong. Here's why. Okay? Everybody check it. Look at verse 15. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Look at verse 16. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Let me ask you a question. How does verse 16 happen if there's a falling away? It doesn't happen very much, does it? Because there are a lack today of people willing to stand up and preach the whole counsel of God, and to call truth truth, to call sin sin, and to preach against the world system, because there is that lack, what do we see? A rise of an anti-Christ spirit. Now, it's always been working. I mean, John talked about that. The apostle John mentioned that. But it's really, really starting to get bad, isn't it? I mean, it's really starting to cook up. Why is that? Because you and I are witnessing a falling away, okay? That's what we're witnessing. We are witnessing today an alarming number of people, and I'm telling you, people that are saved, people that are born again just completely fall away. I don't want anything to do with that. Look, I'm going to say this, and I'm not trying to be rude, but this is just the truth. If you right now decide, you know what? I don't like Pastor Jones anymore. I don't like what he said. I don't like what he did, blah, blah, blah. And you say, I'm going to leave and go to another church. I wouldn't fault you for going to one of these other Baptist churches that's preaching the gospel. Or if you found a community church, good luck, that preaches the right gospel. Okay, amen. But here's the thing. Are they doing anything? No. Go to their YouTube channels. Study this out. They are not preaching the truth. Look, they're not telling you what a reptilian is, are they? They're not telling you to free Cain Velasquez. You know, they're not telling you the hard things, are they? No. They are afraid. Go to the Baptist church in Quna and start talking about some of the things that we talk about, some of the hardcore truths. Start calling queers queers, right? Start calling dykes dykes and trannies trannies. You start calling these people what they are. And watch what happens. You're going to get the boot. You get tossed out. You are gone, bye bye. But furthermore, you're not out knocking them doors. You're no longer preaching the gospel because they don't do that. Okay? They don't do that. Oh, they go out on, you know, one Thursday a month and hand off life. Whatever. More power to you, okay? The fact of the matter is, this is crazy and I never thought I would say this. I never thought I would be in this position. If you're in the Treasure Valley and you want to work for the Lord, unfortunately, hopefully it's not unfortunately, but there's one place you can do that and that is right here. You think you're gonna go to a Greg Lowry loving church and go out and preach the gospel? No. No, Brother David and, who was it, Kaden? A couple weeks ago you guys found those invites, right? Like when Greg Lowry was in town. They find these invites. Like some rogue woman's going around and putting these invites on the doors. Guess what that all leads to? There's no church attached. Work salvation. You know, work salvation. But she's out there working. Those are dead works. Those dead works is what they are, okay? That is the state of the society we live in today. But look around you. This church started three plus years ago. If we didn't have very many problems with with certain people, we'd be running like 75 or 80 people right now. Not everyone who's left isn't saved. Some of them are. Some of them are. And those people you will never see back in here again. Some of them are welcome. Some of them are welcome and be like, hey, come on back in. But they won't. And you'll see why. So go back, if you would, to Hebrews chapter 6. So all that to prove to you that Christians can fall away from the truth. It happens. You know, some people have this this notion. They're like, oh, once you're saved and you really know the truth and you know the truth about prophecy and you're listening to these sermons online, you're never going to... Yeah, right. Yeah, right. You can find yourself out the door and hating us. Happens all the time. Happens in all kinds of churches like ours. So let's read this again. Hebrews 6, 6. If they, again, the they in Hebrew, or in verse 4, if they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance. So look, people who decide, you know what, I'm done with that, right? Can they be saved again? No, they're already saved. Okay, they're already saved, right? But look what he says. Seeing they crucify present tense to themselves the Son of God afresh and put him to an open shame. So he's saying you have two choices. You either stay with the right system, that salvific system, the system that comes from Jesus Christ. Once saved, always saved, right? That is the system that this church teaches. That is the system that we subscribe to, that we push, that we want the world to hear, okay? Your other choice is to leave. And when you leave, whether you realize it or not, even if you're not even going to church, your lifestyle, listen to me, your lifestyle is now an open mockery of what Christ did on the cross. I'm not up here preaching, you know, lifestyle evangelism, but, you know, living like we're ambassadors, like we're separated, like we're sanctified, does do something for the kingdom of God, and it does something for the place where we are currently at in the physical. It does do something. Think about this. People, they get mad, and they leave this church. We've had this very recently, right? And they've come in here, and they went soul-winding, and they're saved, and they love, they loved the Lord at one point, you know. And what were they saying? Oh, my family. Oh, my family hates God, and this and that. Oh, this one person in my family hates God. Now that they're out running their mouths talking trash about me saying they wouldn't want to raise their families in this church, what's that heathen gonna think? What's that heathen gonna think? Oh, it was all a dream. It was all a trend. It was all a fad. And that action that those people are doing, you know what they're doing? They're crucifying present tense Christ to themselves afresh, and they're putting Christ to an open shame. Okay, that is what this is saying. And that is happening at an alarming rate today, not just in this church, but in all kinds of churches like ours, where the truth is being taught, where there is a mission field, there's a church willing to train you, and to send you out to do the work of God. And there are people at an alarming rate saying, I don't want any part of that. I'm done. It was cool for a season, but peace, I'm out. I'm gonna go make my own way. That decision is what he's talking about here. When you do that, look, it's impossible to renew them again unto repentance. So let's talk about that. Repentance from what? Well, go back to verse, go back to verse number one. Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works. So look, those people fell away, but it's impossible to renew them again to that, because they're already saved. They are already saved, is what he's saying. Okay? So let's read verse six again. If they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance. So you can't, once you're saved, you're always saved. Okay? You either decide, you know what, I'm gonna live for Christ and give it my all, or you fall away. You just push it away. You're like, I don't need that. How many of those people ever come back? I've been at this a long time, not very many. I'm talking when somebody goes absolute ham. Okay? I'm talking when somebody makes a decision, like that's a bad church. Look, I've made some dumb decisions. Look, I, you know, I work a lot out. I don't get these excuses. You know, I don't make the best choices. None of us do. Okay? But to actually come here, get people saved, live for the Lord, and then go away and say, I would never want to raise my family in that church. Does that mean that person's not saved? No, not at all. Well, what that means, that person has crossed over to this line where you're probably never gonna see them again, working for the Lord. What are you gonna do? You're gonna go to Eagle Life Church and work for God there? You know? I mean, what are you gonna do? Go to the Nazarene Church? You're gonna go to Tree City? You're gonna go to Rock Harbor? You're gonna go to that Nampa Church? You know, you're not gonna go to another new IFP church because I'm gonna tell them what you said about me in this ministry. You best believe that. There are consequences for your actions. But to have and develop that attitude that we are bad because your little feelings got hurt somehow, some way, and you have to go out and you lie about this ministry and take other people away. That, my friend, is what this is talking about. Those types of people. It's impossible. Look, you can't go to that person and try to get them saved. They're already saved. But I'll tell you, what else is almost impossible is getting them to come back to get over that very difficult, very, very hard. Okay? So I'm just, that's what I'm saying. It is what it is. So, again, what is the consequence of those types of behaviors? Well, they crucify. Those people who do that. And you all know who I'm talking about. And look, I spare not. And if I hear one more stupid thing coming from these people, I'm gonna put them on blast. Because I gave up my life. Many of you have given up your old lives to serve God and to do the best that we can as humans, for the Lord, and to love one another, and to leave here, and to accuse, and to mock, and to make accusations. You know what? That, my friend, is very, very bad. That is to make a mockery of Christ. Because now all the people that you preached against, all the people that you tried to convince that we were good are now looking at you saying, I knew you were a failure. I knew that was a cult. And what does that do on the spiritual side? It gives the little devils more ammunition against us, doesn't it? So we've got to move on here. Okay. Verse 7. So the writer here, he teaches this tough doctrine. And then he really wants you to understand it. So what he's doing, he's gonna give us an illustration in nature here. All right. So look at verse number 7. So he says this, For the earth which drinketh in the rain, that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs, meat for them, by whom it is dressed, receiveth the blessings for God. Simple concept. Let me just break this down, okay? The idea here is obviously if you go grab some good seed, you go out to your field, you dress it up, you get it all set up, you water it, you're going to get reward for that labor, okay? Here's the other truth, okay? You go out and you sow the seed of the word of God, you know, it doesn't matter how tough the area is, eventually you will get results. It will happen. We talked about this last week. There are people who have said, you know, I would go to that church, but they don't have, you know, 200, 300 people. It's just not as, you don't have as many, you know, influencers, YouTube, whatever, okay? Well, you know, eventually we will. And all that, all that influence is built over time. And it's not just built for me, it's built from you guys, you know? And so what I would like to tell these individuals making those comments is like, well, where were you? Why weren't you sharing the sermons on your Facebook page? Oh, because there's somebody you don't want to offend. That's what it is, okay? But anyways, backing up here, he says, for the earth which drinketh in the rain, that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs, meat for them, by whom it was just, receiveth blessings from God. So the idea is, you plant, it gets watered, you get results, okay? Sound familiar? Look at verse 8. But that which beareth thorns and briars is rejected, and nigh unto cursing, whose end is to be burned, okay? Go to 1st Corinthians chapter number 3. So from verse, all the way back in Hebrews chapter 5, where we started, what, verse 11, all the way unto verse number 8 of Hebrews chapter 6, you can find that same doctrine being taught to the Corinthians. But Paul has to use different language, okay? Let's see how Paul talks to the Corinthians. We're getting close to being done for tonight. Let's go through this here real quickly. So 1st Corinthians chapter 3, verse number 1, Paul says this. He says, and I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. Does that sound familiar? Does that sound like Hebrews chapter 5? Verse 12 and 13, right? Exactly. Look at verse 2. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat. For hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. Does everybody see what's going on here? Paul's about to teach the Corinthians the same thing that he's teaching the Hebrews, okay? And it's gonna shed light on verse 8 when we go back. We're almost done. Let's see here. Look at verse number 3. He says, For whereas there is among you envying and strife and divisions, are ye not carnal and walkest men? We talked about this last week, right? You know, people are like, oh, I'm of this person. I'm of this pastor. I'm of this person. It's like, you're carnal. Don't say stuff like that, please. It's embarrassing. Look at verse number 4. For while one sayeth, I am of Paul, and another, I am of Apollos. Are ye not carnal? Look, both Paul, strong meat, great warrior for the Lord, Apollos, very eloquent, same thing. You know, they would be like getting together like, what is wrong with these guys? We got to drive this attitude out of them because it's destructive. Look at verse 5. He says, Who then is Paul? Who then is Apollos, but ministers by whom he believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? Now, look at verse number 6 here. I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. That's Hebrews 6-7. It's the same thing. It's the idea that we plant the seed. Someone else comes and waters it, and God gives the increase. He gives that yield. He gives that result. Okay, look at verse 7. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth, but God that giveth the increase. Again, that's verse 7 in Hebrews chapter 6. Look at verse 8. Now he that planteth, and he that watereth are one. Right? So we don't want to be puffed up. So again, I've seen this, and especially in old IFB churches, man, this was the chief attitude, you know, where you go out and you maybe talk with somebody, and then they come to church, and then someone gets them saved, and they start kind of implying that you didn't do a good enough job. It's like, how do you know that, though, right? It's like, look, I planted you water. That should be the first thing that comes to your mind. Not like, I'm so much better than you. I had a better presentation to you. It's like, you don't know that. In fact, I know you did because I heard what you said. That's a story for another day. We got to move on here. But he says, Now he that planteth, and he that watereth are one. And every man shall receive his own reward according to his buddy's own labor. Is that what it says? Oh, that's not what it says? Let me see. Hold on. And every man shall receive his own reward according to who he identifies with. Which pastor he identifies with? Oh. Oh, man. Hold on. And every man shall receive his own reward according to how many subscribers their church had on YouTube. Oh, I'm sorry. What am I reading here? Oh. Oh, hold on. King James. Sorry. That was NRV. And every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. Worry about yourself. Okay? You worry about you. How's that sound? That keeps you humble. That keeps things straight. That keeps things right. You worry about you and your labor. Look at verse 9. For we are laborers together with God. For you're God's husbandry. You're God's building. So again, in the Bible, and the New Testament especially, you'll see this often. You know, where God uses illustrations of crops and seed and things like that to illustrate how he's building the kingdom of God. Planting, watering. God giving the increase here. Okay? God's obviously building his kingdom, but he's using us to do that. And if there's less of us, well, unfortunately, what does that mean? There's more of them. There's more of this episcopal stuff. There's more Catholics. There's more Mormons. There's more people preaching false doctrine. That's how it works. Look at verse 10. According to the grace of God, which has given unto me a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereon. Right? So again, you have the foundation. You have the milk. You need to build upon that. You need to help other people build upon that. You need to labor in that. Verse 11. For other foundation can no man lay, then that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. So people trying to build on this repent of your sins garbage doctrine is impossible. Okay? It is not going to happen. You guys know this. Now here's the kicker. Here's where we pull verse 8. So verse 12 to the end really is verse 8 in Hebrew 6. Pay attention. Verse 12. We're very close to being done. It says this. Now if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, every man's work shall be made manifest for the day shall declare. Because that, I'm sorry, because it shall be revealed by what? Fire. And the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. What kind it is. We all will go to the judgment seat of Christ. Okay? Now you're not gonna be put on blast for every sin you did. Those are paid for. They're removed as far as the east is from the west. But we will be judged on our own labor. Verse 8. Right? Let's keep reading. So what kind of or what sort it is. It's tried by fire. Key word. Look at verse 14. If any man's work abide which he hath built there upon he shall receive a reward. Okay? So however this works at the judgment seat of Christ you know you're gonna receive payment for your labor so to speak. Look at verse 15. If any man's work shall be burned he shall suffer loss but he himself shall be saved yet so as by fire. Hold that thought. Go back to Hebrews chapter 6 and look at verse number 8. So again verse number 7. What is he talking about? He's talking about the same concept he's teaching the Corinthians. One plants, one waters and then what happens? Fruit. The increase. Who's responsible for that increase? It is God. Okay? We just read that. Now look at verse 8. But that which beareth thorns meaning bringing forth thorns and briars is rejected and is nigh unto cursing whose end is to be burned. Same thing that Paul talked about in 1st Corinthians chapter 3 verse 15. Look at verse 9 if you don't believe me. He says but beloved we are persuaded better things of you. Who is the you? Those in verse 4 who are made partakers. What are the better things? Well better than verse 8. Okay? That's what he's saying. Better than verse 8. Better than 1st Corinthians 3 15. Okay? We are persuaded better things of you and things that accompany salvation though we thus speak. So this passage is teaching the same thing that you see in the Corinthians. 1st Corinthians chapter 3. Right? Build upon that foundation. Okay? You want to get to heaven. You want to get to that judgment seat of Christ with as many precious stones as you possibly can. But look at you. You get rewarded for your labor. Okay? Understand that. You get rewarded for the labor that you do. Okay? So verse 9 but beloved we are persuaded better things of you and things that accompany salvation though we thus speak. So again people will pull verse that verse number 8 out and say well see if you don't do right you go you go right to hell because it says burned. And it's like come on man. Can't you just read the Bible? This is why we have reading challenges. This is why we want you to read whole books. Read through the New Testament so you can put these things together and you can pick up patterns and compare scripture with scripture and rightly divide the Word of truth. Okay let's move on because we have to be done. Verse 10. For God is not unrighteous to forget your what? Work and labor of love which he have showed toward his name and that you have ministered to the Saints and do minister. Same thing we read in 1st Corinthians chapter number 3 verse 11. And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope and to the end. So Paul's desire the writer of Hebrews desire is that we would be on fire and always abounding in the work of the Lord for our whole lives. Okay? To the end. That we wouldn't become that Hebrews 6 6 type person where we fall away and we're just putting the things of God away. We're like we're done. I'm gonna make my own way. I'm the best. I'm good. I don't need that. Whatever. Last verse we're gonna read tonight. Verse 12. That ye be not slothful. Meaning you don't be the type of person that comes in here and promises you're gonna do something volunteers or something then you don't do it. Okay? You're not that type of person. You're not slothful. But followers of them who through faith and patient inherit the promises. Okay? It matters who you associate with. And one thing that I want to leave you with and we all understand we all know we don't want to be the slothful type person because it leads to a road of destruction for the believer. It leads to that Hebrews 6 6 type person who all of a sudden you fall away from the faith and now you're contributing to the evil in the world. Now you are no longer standing up for righteousness. Now you're doing all this crazy stuff and the world's looking at you like I knew you were no different than me. And that mocks Christ. It does damage. It does destruction. Okay? So we're going to stop right there for tonight because I know that's mouthful. I know that's a lot. So with that being said let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer. Thank you so much Lord again for these these hard truths in the Bible. And I just pray that you would help us to apply these things to our lives Lord so that we may better discern good and evil. And we just pray for the fellowship after the service. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. All right we'll sing one more song this evening. Let's grab those hymn books one final time and let's sing it like we mean it. Song number 39, How Beautiful Heaven Must Be. On the first we read of a place that's called heaven. It's made for the pure and the free. These truths in God's Word he hath given. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. Sweet home of the happy and free. Fair haven of rest for the weary. How beautiful heaven must be. In heaven no drooping nor pining. Nor wishing nor elsewhere to be. God's light is forever there shining. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. Sweet home of the happy and free. Fair haven of rest for the weary. How beautiful heaven must be. Pure waters of life there are flowing. And all will drink will be free. Rare tools of splendor are glowing. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. Sweet home of the happy and free. Fair haven of rest for the weary. How beautiful heaven must be. On the last the angels so sweetly are singing. Out there by the beautiful sea. Sweet chords from their gold harps are ringing. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. Sweet home of the happy and free. Fair haven of rest for the weary. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be. How beautiful heaven must be.
