Okay, but look at the accuracy. Look at the strength that Jihoo has here to be able to do something. Who's ever picked up a bow and arrow before at the store and messed around with it? Or even ever shot one? Yeah, yeah, we've got one here. You know, from what I've been told, I've never shot, you know, I've never gotten into archery. I would like to someday, but I'm told that, you know, it takes some practice. It takes some physical strength. It takes, you know, time here. And this is just interesting to me that he pulls this bow back and just, boom, right through the heart. You know, and these guys are fleeing. They're running. He's hitting a moving target at that. Okay, that's another reason why he was selected for the job, because of his accuracy. But also notice here that he's upset about these witchcrafts. Okay, that comes out in a speech. You know, Jihoo is like, hey, you know, is it peace? He's like, what are you talking about peace when you've got all this witchcraft going on around here? You know, he's like, today is payday, and yes, I'm going to make you pay. Verse 25. Then Jihoo said to Bidkar his captain, take up and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth, the Jezreelite. For remember how that when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the Lord laid this burden upon him. So this kind of gives you some insight on how long Jihoo has been around. He was there during that time, a young man, probably a young person, you know, with Bidkar coming up through the ranks in the military and seeing this atrocious thing happen to Naboth and hearing about it and hearing the justice preached from the prophets. And at this moment in time, Jihoo realizes, wow, I've been selected to actually fulfill this prophecy here. So that's why he says to Bidkar his captain, take up and cast him into the portion of the field of Naboth, the Jezreelite. For remember how that when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the Lord laid this burden upon him. And so it just goes to just cue you in onto how not everyone in the kingdom was 100% wicked. You know, when God told Elijah, hey, I've reserved 7,000 that have not bowed the knee to Baal, I believe that number increased after Elijah completely obliterated those 450 prophets of Baal. And then Ahab finally got a little bit of a clue and was like, okay, you know, that word spread. And then it multiplied, I believe, and there's people here that are just not satisfied with the religious conditions in the land. And this is just so sweet to read because for chapter after chapter now we've been dealing with these wicked kings of Israel. And finally somebody who comes along is like, you know what, enough of this. I've got the Lord's backing, we're going to actually just go ham and we're going to take care of business and put down this wickedness. Wouldn't that be awesome to see in our day, see a Jehu type person like get elected and you can't say it's Trump. I mean, you know, it'd have to be somebody who actually believes the Bible and somebody who would, you know, just lead us out of this. But subject for another day, we're way past that day. Look at verse 26. He says, surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, saith the Lord, and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the Lord. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground according to the word of the Lord. So again, later on you'll learn that he doesn't take heed to the full word of God with his whole heart, but he does love the Lord. He is aware of the word of God. He is fulfilling it at this point in time. So now it's going to transition to the southern king of Judah, Ahaziah. Let's see what happens to him. Look at verse 27. It says, but when Ahaziah, the king of Judah, saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him and said, smite him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to Ger, which is by Iblim, and he fled to Megiddo and died there. And so really, you know, keep this in mind, too, as you're reading this Megiddo or, you know, Megiddo is pronounced different ways in the Bible. This kind of does picture the last days. This kind of pictures loosely Revelation chapter 19, when Christ comes back on the white horse with a riding on his leg that says king of kings and Lord of lords. And he's got his armies, which are us, you know, following him. And the people of the earth are gathering themselves, and they're literally going to try to take on God. Okay? You have, again, at that point, what do you have? You have the anointed, because we're anointed by Christ. We're anointed by God versus the appointed. The people who are mustering up to fight against God, who literally think they're going to, with their armament and their nukes and their tanks and their, you know, whatever it is that they have left at that point in time, they literally think that they can actually fight God. You know? And so when you get home tonight, if you have time or tomorrow, read Revelation 19 and just kind of think about this here. That's kind of what you have going on, that these guys even thought that they had a chance. You know, in the end times, we're told that people of the earth who are left will actually believe that they have a fighting chance, that they can actually fight against God, and of course, they get obliterated. But I believe that this definitely kind of loosely pictures that. Look at verse 28. It says, And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in the sepulcher with his fathers in the city of David. Verse 29, And in the eleventh year of Jehoram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah. And so we'll have to do another sermon sometime about the kings, because you have Jehoram of the northern kingdom of Israel, you have the Jehoram of the southern kingdom, and then you have two Ahaziahs, and it just gets confusing, okay? We'll come back at a later date and really try to correct all this. Not correct it, but to really maybe make some sense. In fact, we kind of did that about four years ago when this church first started. We actually went through the kings. I passed out charts, but we're going to have to definitely come back and make some sense of this later on, but we've got to get through this story here tonight. Verse 29, And in the eleventh year of Jehoram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah. Verse 30, And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, and she painted her face and teared her head and looked out a window. So obviously she here has a different way of dealing with this. She's not going to ask, is it peace? She understands what has already happened, okay? Ahaziah is dead, Jehoram is dead, and she knows she literally isn't going to have a fighting chance, so she's going to resort to a different tactic here. So she gets dressed up and tears her hair and tries to make herself fall, whatever it is she's trying to do here. It's weird painting her face. This is where a lot of people will go to, you know, to come up with weird options about makeup and stuff. Clearly she's trying to prepare herself for death. I mean, that's really what you get out of this here. And, you know, I don't know what kind of paint she had, but it must have been pretty intense because what Jehu does with her is interesting. Verse 30, So again, And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, she painted her face, teared her head and looked out a window. Verse 31, And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master. Now, 1 Kings chapter 16, so, I don't know, a month and a half ago we covered this. Remember where Zimri, he reigned for what was like seven days? And what did he do? How did he get to that position? Well, he slew the house of Baasha. He killed Baasha and his household, and then Omri is the one who came in, and Zimri is like, Well, if I can't have the kingdom, no one can. And he burns the house down on himself, the castle down on himself, and the rest is history. So Jezebel is trying to manipulate Jehu a little bit here, and she's bringing this up like saying, Hey, if you do this, I know you can, if you do this, how are you going to be able to live with yourself? And that's a lot of times how the devil will try to come at you and how the devil will try to talk to you. You know, try to bring up something from your past or bring up another example and try to insinuate guilt. Well, if you take this hard line that the preacher's talking about, if you take this hard line stance on doctrine, what about your family? What about how so-and-so lost a family member because they started coming to church all the time? And, you know, these types of mind games, you know, these things are real, this is what happens. Jezebel is a full-on devil worshiper, okay, a full-on witch, if you will, whatever it is, and these are the types of things that they do, this is what she is trying to do, but he's having none of it. Like he's not going to like reason with her at all. He's got one mission and that is to destroy and that is exactly what he's going to do. Verse 32, and he lifted up his face to the window and said, Who is on my side? Who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. So it's like he doesn't even regard that. You know, he sees Jezebel up there and then he sees these eunuchs around her and he's like, Who's on my side? And the Bible's like, well, there's, you know, the writer says, well, there's two or three eunuchs. Verse 33, and he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses and he trod her underfoot. Okay, who needs Hollywood when you have stories like this in the Bible? You know, I mean, think about that. Think about what she said to him. Had Zimrai peace, who slew his master, didn't even faze him. All he wants to know is who is on his side and he got his answer. You say, well, what's a eunuch? You know, it's been a while maybe since we've brought that up. It's not a very nice thing. Okay, it's somebody who's not going to be able to reproduce. It's a male, not a female. Okay, there are people out there that teach, oh, the dykes are eunuch. No, okay, no, that's not true. Okay, these people, again, were taken, mutilated, and that's why they could be entrusted to take care of queens and take care of women in the Bible because it couldn't really do anything. And again, Jehu looks up and he's like, hey, who's on my side? And sometimes that's how we need to be. You know, when you're faced with a problem and someone's trying to come at you, all you need to do, who is on my side? I don't care who said what at this point. I need to know who is on my side, who is on your side. Once we get that figured out, then we move forward. That's how you deal with conflict. That's how you deal with situations like this when someone's trying to lie and manipulate and just control you. Hey, I don't care about none of that. I'm not trying to piece that together right now. All I want to know is who is on my side, who is supporting me. That's what Jehu does. He's anointed by God. He has these characteristics, and we're reading about them for a reason. So what can we learn? Well, we can learn exactly that. You know, that in life, I think it's very important that we learn and try to prove who is literally on our side because that is how we can be successful. That's how he's successful here. Verse 33, and he said, throw her down. Okay? So they threw her down, and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses, and he trode her under her foot. So it's not just enough that they threw her down and she's dead. He's like, I'm going to really stomp this out here. I'm stomping her out. Right? You know? This is silly, but I'll just bring it up anyways. There was a UFC fighter by the name of Dan Henderson, and he one time fought this guy from England, and his name was Michael Bisping. I don't know, maybe some of you have heard this. This is back in the early days when I was always watching the UFC, and they were going back and forth. They did a TV show together called The Ultimate Fighter where they were both coaches, and they were always going back and forth at each other. Now this guy Dan Henderson was primarily a wrestling guy, a very good wrestler, I think he was an Olympic wrestler for that matter, was a lot older than Michael Bisping. And so these two are going to fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Finally the night arrives, they fight, and Dan Henderson knocks this guy out, knocks Michael Bisping out of the guy who's been taunting him, and just coming at him and just insulting him, knocks him out completely unconscious. Okay? And before the ref can get to him and stop it, he literally just is flying through the air and just lands a couple big shots on him after he's already been knocked out. That's kind of like what you have going on here. And what happened is Dan Henderson later took that image of him flying through the air, giving him one for the road, and that's his symbol now for his brand, his gym, and his company and everything that he does here. And I don't know, this is kind of silly, but that's what you have going on here. Like Jihoo's just like, you know what, I know she's knocked out, I know she's dead, but I just really want to solidify this. I really want to just put the final stamp of approval on her and just trode her, and so he just takes the horses, I guess, and just completely stomps her. You know, and the Bible pulls no punches, right? And we've seen that over and over and over again in these stories. You know, if man were to write this, they'd be like, well, we got to put a rating on this, and you know, maybe we ought to tone this down, especially if, you know, man was entrusted to write anything for God today. They'd be like, well, we got to kind of tone this down a little bit, where God's like, no, you need to understand the severity of what's going on here. God hates witchcraft. God hates everything that wicked Jezebel did, how she shed innocent blood, and God says, hey, this is okay. Jihoo never gets in trouble for this. Stomps her out. It's preserved in the Bible, and you get to read that because you get to understand how God really feels about this. It's not a light thing with God shedding innocent blood, lying about people who didn't do certain things. I mean, think about it. What was the accusation that the sons of Belial under orders from Jezebel came up with about Naboth in his vineyard? Said, oh, he blasphemed. Remember that? They're like, he blasphemed, and then they caused the people to stone him. He didn't do any of that, but now he gets justice. Now he gets to see this because obviously I believe that Naboth was saved. He loved the Lord. So verse 33 says that they trode her underfoot. Look at verse 34. And when he was come in, look, this is another reason why you gotta like this guy, okay? He just stomps this queen, just stomps Jezebel out after having guys throw her down, and what does he do? It's lunchtime, okay? Verse 34, and when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, go see now this cursed woman and barrier, for she is a king's daughter. Okay, so he goes in and makes himself a ham sandwich, you know, and gets some coke and, you know, a bag of chips. Everybody's eating. They're like, I wonder what they got in the fridge. I wonder what's in the cupboard. What's in the pantry? They make themselves something to eat. They're like, you know, we probably should just barrier her. I guess she is a king, you know, once his stomach settled. You see, you ever want a guy to start thinking rationally? You gotta give him some food, right? And so now he's like, all right, all right. Well, maybe we should just at least leave this on somewhat of a good note and just actually barrier her, okay? He's thinking a little straight now that he's got some food in his belly. Verse 35, and they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. Ooh, boy, how would you like to see something like that? Thank God that we live in a different era, right? Our mission is we knock on people's doors, we meet people and we tell them about the gospel and we try to get them saved, okay? This is a whole different world here. You know what I mean? You go out and see this after eating lunch and notice it doesn't say they start barfing. They're just like, oh, I guess the dogs were hungry too. Look at verse 36. Wherefore they came again and told him and he said, so he didn't even get out. He's just like, I'm just gonna finish, I need another Coke, I need another strawberry lemonade or whatever it is he was drinking. And they're like, wherefore they came in and told him and said, this is the word of the Lord which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite saying in the portion of Jezreel shall the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel. So he's just like comfortable with it, okay? He goes out and he's just like, yeah, that's right. This is that prophecy. Okay, it makes sense. Let's move on. Verse 37, and the carcass of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel so that they shall not say this is Jezebel. So God wanted to make it abundantly clear later on for future pagan, heathen, Baal worshiping people, you're not gonna get to enshrine her, you're not gonna get to basically make her any more than what she was. Her story is gonna be preserved in the Bible so that we can learn application and learn what happened and nothing more. So look at what it says next in chapter 10, verse number one. It says, and Ahab had 70 sons in Samaria. Man, think about that, 70 sons. He had 70 sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters and sent to Samaria. So he's not done yet. He's just getting started. His mission is to destroy the house of Ahab. So after dinner here, after they realize, okay, there's only just a few fragments left of Jezebel. I guess the dogs are hungry. This is the prophet. This is the word of the Lord, whatever. Verse one of chapter 10, Ahab had 70 sons in Samaria and Jehu wrote letters and sent to Samaria unto the rulers of Jezreel to the elders and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying. So you notice that there. You ever wonder, like, how were these kings able to do so much? Like, what about their kids? Well, they had other people raise their kids. They had other people. That's what it says here. Verse two, now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master's sons are with you and there are with you chariots and horses, a fenced city also and armor, look even out the best and meatest of your master's sons and set him on his father's throne and fight for your master's house. So now Jehu's like, let's go. Take the best that you have, right, and let's fight and let's see who comes out on top. That's how this guy was. Verse four, but they were exceedingly afraid and said, behold, two kings stood, not before him. How then shall we stand? So you see his reputation is definitely spreading throughout the region and these people are like, whoa, we are not gonna be able to fight this guy. He took out the southern kingdom of Judah's king. He took out Ahaziah. He took out Jehoam. You know, I don't know if they've heard about Jezebel yet. It doesn't say that, but definitely he is on a roll and they know it. Verse five, and he that was over the house and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children sent to Jehu saying, we are thy servants and will do all that thou has bid us. We will not make any king do thou that which is good in thine eyes. And definitely a wise answer, okay, because whether they realize it or not, Jehu's blessed by God. He's anointed. He's, you know, definitely got the okay from God. You give somebody full of zeal like this, the okay from God, and I mean, it's unstoppable. Verse six, I'm sorry, yeah, verse six. Then he wrote a letter the second time to them saying, if you be minded, if you will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men, your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by tomorrow this time. Now the king's sons being 70 persons were with the great men of the city which brought them up. And it came to pass when the letter came to them that they took the king's sons and slew 70 persons and put their heads in baskets and sent them to Jezreel. We're actually just gonna stop it right there for tonight. Just wanted to leave you with that so you can go home and have happy thoughts of Jehu and what he did and what he caused other people to do, okay? So not only would Jehu just ruthless when it came to serving the Lord, okay, but other people got the message apparently because they're like, oh, we'll take care of it. 70 heads, no problem. We'll go ahead and pile these up for you. No problem, sir, we'll do whatever you want, okay? That is the power that this guy had. And you say, well, how is my life again? Like I said this morning, you know, what do we gain from learning this other than, you know, a few chuckles here and there, a few, you know, just to get to read about a real guy who's a real alpha male, not like some Andrew Tate wannabe, you know? What do we get from this? We get to understand that zeal is contagious. The more zealous that we become, the stronger that we are in standing up for the truth and the principles and the Bible in spite of what's going on outside in this world today, it does rub off on other people, okay? It does. You may look around, yeah, but where is everybody at? We here don't worry about it, okay? It's not about the size of the group. It's about the zeal of the group. That is where the true miracle happens. So remember that, and we're gonna cover that, those first seven verses again next week because anytime you read something about 70 heads, you really wanna break it down and understand why that's in the Bible. It's not a copyist error and what that's going to definitely mean for us. So let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer. Thank you so much, Lord, for these stories, Lord, and for all the applications you give us week after week. I just pray you bless the fellowship after the service and bring us back safely again on Wednesday. In Jesus' name I pray, amen. All right, everyone. Please turn to song number 419. Song number 419. Sound the battle cry on the first. Sound the battle cry, see the foe is nigh. Raise the standard high for the Lord. Purge your armor on, stand firm everyone. Rest your cause upon his holy word. Rouse then soldiers, rally round the banner. Ready, steady, pass the word along. Onward, forward, shout aloud Hosanna. Christ is captain of the mighty throng. Strong to meet the foe, marching on we go. While our cause we know must prevail. Shield and banner bright, gleaming in the light. Battling for the right, we ne'er can fail. Rouse then soldiers, rally round the banner. Ready, steady, pass the word along. Onward, forward, shout aloud Hosanna. Christ is captain of the mighty throng on the last. Go thou God of all, hear us when we call. Help us one and all by thy grace. When the battle's done and the victory's won, May we wear the crown before thy face. Rouse then soldiers, rally round the banner. Ready, steady, pass the word along. Onward, forward, shout aloud Hosanna. Christ is captain of the mighty throng. All right, let's bow our heads in a word of prayer. Dear Lord, thank you for this time we had to hear your word be preached. I ask that you please help us to remember these things and keep everyone safe as they travel home today. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. Amen.
