There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb. Song 23 on the second. Would you be free from your passion and pride? There's power in the blood, power in the blood. Come for a cleansing to Calvary's side There's wonderful power in the blood. There is power, power, wonder-working power In the blood of the Lamb. There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb. Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow? There's power in the blood, power in the blood. There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb. Good on the last. Would you do service for Jesus your King? There's power in the blood, power in the blood. Would you live daily his praises to sing? There's wonderful power in the blood. There is power, power, wonder-working power In the blood of the Lamb. There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb. Amen. And we want to welcome you to Verity Baptist Church this morning. We're so glad that you are with us and we'd like to, of course, begin the service with a word of prayer. Let's put our heads together and let's pray together. Heavenly Father, Lord, we do love you. We thank you for allowing us to gather together today, Lord. We pray that you would bless the service today, Lord. We pray that you'd meet with us as we sing praises to you, of course, as we open up the Word of God, study it together. And as we fellowship, Lord, we ask that you would meet with us today, speak to our hearts, help us to draw closer to you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Turn to song 160. 1-6-0. Crown Him with many crowns. 160 on the first. Crown Him with many crowns. The Lamb upon His throne. Hark how the heavy anthem drowns. All music but its own. Awake my soul and sing. Of Him who died for thee. And hail Him as Thy matchless King. Through all eternity. Crown Him the Lord of love. Behold His hands and side. Rich wounds yet visible above. In beauty glorified. No angel in the sky. Can fully bear that sigh. The downward bends His wandering eye. At mystery so bright. Crown Him the Lord of life. Through triumph for the grave. Who rose victorious in the strife. For those He came to save. His glories now we see. Who died and rose on high. Who died eternal life to bring. And lives at death made. Crown Him the Lord of heaven. One with the Father known. One with the Spirit through Him given. From yonder glorious song. To Thee be endless praise. For Thou for us hast died. Be Thou Lord through endless days. Adored and magnified. Good singing. Amen. Alright well let's go and take our bulletins. We'll look at some announcements real quickly this morning. If you do not have a bulletin just raise your hand and one of our ushers can get one for you. If you need a bulletin just put your hand up and we will get one for you. The verse this week Psalm 23 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. And that's a good verse there of course we like that. If you open up your bullets and you'll see our service time Sunday morning service 10 30 a.m. We're glad you're with us on Sunday morning on the Lord's day for church. We do invite you to be back tonight for the evening service at 6 p.m. The evening service is different than the morning service. Different songs that are sung. Different sermon that's preached. Just one more opportunity to be in God's house with God's people under the preaching of the word of God. And then of course we have our Wednesday evening Bible study at 7 p.m. And we are studying the book of Psalms together on Wednesday night. We'd love for you to join us. We call it the most encouraging service of the week. And we'd love for you to be of course a part of that. If you look at our soul winning times our main soul winning time is on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. And that's our big soul winning rally. Soul winning is when we go out in the community. We knock doors. We invite people to church. And we preach the gospel to anyone who's interested. We have additional soul winning times on Thursdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. as well. So if you'd like to go soul winning there will be an opportunity for you to do that today of course. If you look across the page there you'll see our announcements and upcoming events. You should have one of these cards there in your bulletin. And of course today we are kicking off a brand new Sunday morning sermon series called the Spirit World. And it is a study of heaven and hell, angels and demons, the devil and spiritual warfare. We are glad that you are here. We're going to begin today with a sermon on the subject of heaven. We're going to study heaven from the word of God today. And I don't, I think it's a fitting thing for believers to study about our future home. So we'll be looking at that today and we hope you're excited about this sermon series. And I can tell people the best time, it's always good to be in church, but the best time to be in church is right at the beginning of a sermon series. And we want to encourage you if you're with us today to plan to be with us every week of this sermon series for the next six weeks as we study the Spirit World. And then tonight we are continuing our Bible study in the book of Philemon. We began that last Sunday night and Philemon is a short book of the Bible, just one chapter. But we're spending several weeks looking at the three different characters there in the book of Philemon. Last week we began with Philemon and today we're going to, tonight we're going to look at Onesimus, the runaway servant, and we'll be studying that out. So I want to encourage you of course to be with us. And then we've got some special things here that we just want you to remember and be aware of. First of all, just attention to the men. We are launching our Biblical Leadership Institute this week, this Tuesday at 7 p.m. So you men that have signed up, please make sure of course that you don't forget about that. And meet in the fellowship hall on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for the Biblical Leadership Institute. The first course for this fall is a course on personal leadership and success. So we're going to be looking at a lot of principles about self-leadership and how to be successful, how to be productive. So we encourage you of course to be a part of that. Don't forget about that. And also in honor of the launch of our Biblical Leadership Institute, we're going to do a special leadership live stream. We're calling it Leadership Live and that will be at 6 p.m. So the institute begins at 7 p.m., that's a class, but at 6 p.m. we're going to have a 30 minute live stream on the subject of leadership. And I'll be teaching a short lesson on there as well. And we just encourage you to watch that and be a part of that, obviously even if you're not part of the Leadership Institute. And we do want to let you know that I'll be answering questions, we'd like to answer any sort of leadership questions we can answer that you might have. So if you're here this morning right now and you have a leadership question that you'd like for me to answer on the broadcast, on your communication card, there's a place there to write down a leadership question. And we'd love for you to help us with that. It'd be nice to be able to answer those on the live stream. So look forward to that, of course, and that'll be available to everybody, not just the people in the institute, but everyone will be live streaming on Rumble, Facebook, all of those things. And then also this Saturday is our Spanish service, so just want you to be aware of that. Saturday, September 28th at 5 p.m. we'll be meeting in the fellowship hall. I think we've got like 70 people signed up for the Spanish service already, so praise the Lord for that. And I just don't want you to forget about that. If you'd like to attend and you've not signed up yet, you can sign up on your communication card. And we are having a Spanish-themed potluck after the service, so if you can, please bring a dish to share and, you know, just bring your favorite Spanish-themed food, and that's going to be great. Homeschool group, they've got PE class on Thursday, October 10th at 10 a.m. Ladies' weight loss and accountability group, they meet on Wednesdays at 615 p.m. before the midweek service, and they meet in my wife's office, and of course she leads that. And then upcoming cleaning crew, you can check for your name there. If you look at the back of the bulletin, birthdays and anniversaries for the month of September, this week we have Brother Nate Deacon's birthday is today, September 22nd. So happy birthday to Brother Nate and also Brother Graham and Miss Michelle Scott's anniversary is today, September 22nd. And then this week we have Brother Ray and Miss Denise Anderson's anniversary on September 23rd. Lainey Usher has a birthday on September 26th. Ezra Nellitescu has a birthday on September 27th. Brother James Bahamundi, Miss Connie Ramirez, and Genevieve Rosenberg and Brother David Nellitescu all have birthdays on September 28th. So happy birthday, of course, to all of them. Praise Report, Money Matters, all those things are there for you to look at. And if you are a first-time guest, if it's your first time here at Verity Baptist Church, we're so glad that you're with us. We have a gift we'd like to give you as you walk out of the church building this morning. As you go out the main foyer, you'll see a little table set up, and on that table you'll see these little gift bags. Please grab one on your way out as a gift from us to you for being our guest this morning. There are several resources in this bag that we'd like you to have, but the one I'd like to highlight is this documentary that our church made. It's called Being Baptist. It's very well made, very interesting. We think you'll find it educational and entertaining, and we wanted to give this to you as a gift. So please make sure you don't leave here this morning without grabbing one of these gift bags on your way out. And if you are a guest, we'd ask that you please take a moment to fill out the communication card, which is inserted in your bulletin. If you need a pen, you can just raise your hand. One of our ushers will bring you by a Verity Baptist Church pen. We're not going to do anything odd with your info. We would just like to have a record of your attendance. We actually would like to send you a little gift, but we need your info to do that. So please take a moment to fill the card out. When we're done with the announcements, we're going to sing a song. When we're done singing, we're going to receive the offering. And as the offering plate goes by, you can drop this card in the offering plate. All right. I think that's it for the announcements. We're going to go ahead and sing the chorus of the week, which is the insert in your bulletin. And since we're studying heaven this morning, I thought it'd be good to sing this song. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. It's the kind of song you've got to sing with passion. Sing it out on the first. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. Early in the morning our song shall write to Thee. Holy, holy, merciful and mighty, Lord in three percents. We're going to sing it out on the second. You know, the Bible says that in heaven there are cherubims that are praising God all day and night saying holy, holy, holy. So let's go ahead and sing it out. Sing it like you're in heaven this morning on the second. Holy, holy, holy, all the saints adore Thee. Casting down their golden crowns around the wassy sea, Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee. Which word and on evermore shall we sing? Good. Let's slow it down on the third and sing it on purpose with passion. Just follow me. Holy, holy, holy, though the darkness hide Thee. Though the eyes of sinful men Thy glory may not see, Only Thou art holy. There is none beside Thee. Perfect in power and glory. Good. Sing it out on the last. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea. Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity. Amen. Good singing. Before the guys come up, I would like to remind you, of course, that we are a family-integrated church. What that means is that children and infants are always welcomed in the service. We do not separate children from their parents for any reason. However, we do have mother-baby rooms and daddy rooms available for your convenience. All of the rooms have comfortable seating. They have monitors set up so you can watch the service and listen to it. We also have windows set up for certain rooms so you can watch the service through the window. So if you have a child that's being distracted during the service, if you need some privacy, we would encourage you to use those rooms as needed. If you're not sure where they're at, you can look at the back of the bulletin and you'll see a layout of our church building. It'll show you where the mother-baby rooms are, where the daddy room is. It'll show you where the restrooms are. If you're here this morning and you need to be baptized, please let us know. We'd love to baptize you. And the baptistry's filled. The water's warm. We've got everything you need. You can let us know on your communication card on the back. You can check off that you'd like information about baptism, and we'll follow up with you in regards to that. And then, of course, we want to remind you to please make sure to turn your cell phones off or place them on silent during the service so that they're not a distraction to anybody. And right now would be a good time to check your phone and make sure it's on silent or vibrate or something like that. So if it doesn't go off in the middle of the sermon, we would appreciate that. And we'll go ahead and have the guys come up and help us with the offering at this time. And let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer. Heavenly Father, Lord, we do love you. We thank you for allowing us to gather together today. Lord, we thank you for the hope of heaven, and we pray that you'd bless the offering, the gift, and the giver. Lord, we ask that you would continue to meet our needs here financially. And Lord, we pray that you'd bless the sermon. Help us, Lord, to be able to receive from your word what we need today. Give us listening ears and attentive hearts. Help us, Lord, to be able to learn from your word. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
