Now the part of this chapter that I'd like to focus on, it's one of my favorite chapters, but the part that I'd like to focus on is beginning in verse 15 when the Bible reads, Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. Yet any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of light, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lusts thereof. But he that doeth the will of God, abiding forever, little children, it is the last time. And I want to talk to you tonight about a subject, worldliness. Now, a lot of people today don't even know what this subject is, they don't even know what the word worldly means. I had a pastor contact me, and he'd seen my website, or he was trying to criticize me in some way. He said, what do you mean by the fact that you're against worldliness? What does that even mean? Where did you even come up with that? And there are so many times that the Bible actually uses the word worldly, or worldliness. And we're going to look at some of those tonight, where he actually uses that very word. And this man was pontificating, and acting like I was insane, or some kind of a, you know, a fundamentalist, or a fuddy-duddy, because I'm preaching against worldliness. But I want to tell you something, churches today, and Christmas Day, have been infected with worldliness. Now, let me say this, I have great hopes for my generation. Because the people that I know who take the strongest stand on the Bible, who do the most soul-winning, who aren't part of the 59 minute and 59 second club of soul-winning, but actually go out there and spend the time and the hours knocking the doors, preaching the Gospel, doing the work, they seem to be people that are young. And I thank God for a young generation of older teenagers, and people in their young 20s, late 20s, and even in their early 30s, boy, this new generation that's rising up, I see a lot of zeal for God, I see a lot of soul-winning going on, I see a lot of passion for God, and excitement, and also a lot of strict adherence to what the Bible teaches about, hey, the King James Bible is the Word of God, and, you know, we believe strongly in eternal security, the believer. And we preach against all this phony salvation, like the Lordship salvation, to make Jesus the Lord of your life, and oh, you have to turn from a life of sin. Hey, the Bible says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and that is how He said it. And so it's by faith, not of works, lest any man should boast. Today we have a bunch of Baptist preachers who get up and boast about the life of sin that they gave up to get saved. Hey, I didn't give up anything when I got saved, I believed on Christ when I got saved. I didn't give up anything, I didn't start anything, I didn't stop anything, hey, I just believed in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, and I was saved. Hey, when I was six years old on my knees by my bedside, hey, I knew that I was on my way to hell, and I knew that the only way to go to heaven was through Jesus Christ. I knew it was His blood that He shed, I knew that He died, was buried, rose again, and I knew that there was nothing that I could do that would influence whether I went to heaven or hell. Good, bad, I knew that it was only whether I believed on Him, that was where my faith was hanging in the balance. And I said, I believe on Christ, and I'm saved today because of that day, when I was six years old. I'm seeing a lot of young people that are waking up and realizing, hey, this is the truth, these are the true doctrines of God, this is God's word, let's go out and win souls, let's get back to the old paths of knocking doors, you know. But I'm going to tell you something, one problem that I see among this crowd is worldliness. It's great to be right doctrinally, it's great to have zeal, it's great to want to get people saved, but you know what, God has commanded us not to love the world, and He said, if you love the world, the love of the Father is not in you. You've got to choose today whether you want to love God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, or whether you're going to have part of your love or part of your heart in the world. Now, have you ever heard this statement? Some people have said, well, He has one foot in the world. And it's a true statement. I mean, I've known people who, they go to church, they serve God, but they still have one foot in the world. Now, what does it mean to be worldly? Well, I think this is a great passage to start, to understand what worldliness is. Because a lot of people today don't understand this term, and so I want to help define it tonight, in case maybe you don't really understand it, or maybe you haven't heard preaching on this, or maybe you just understand a little more deeply, what does the word worldly mean? How can we be against worldliness? Well, look what it says here, this is a good place to start. It says, love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loved the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Now, if we read that, we'd say, wait a minute, what does that mean, to love the world? I mean, God still loves the world, right? Does that mean we're not supposed to love people? He explains what it means in the next verse. He explains why we should not love the world. He says, for, like because is what He's saying, for all that is in the world. And then he basically gives us three categories of worldliness. He says, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of light is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. So what does it mean to be worldly? Well, what it means to be worldly is to live a life characterized by lust. Lust. Worldliness is defined here, one of the aspects, as the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh. You see, today, when we talk about worldly TV shows and worldly movies and worldly music, we're talking about movies and music that appeal to your fleshly appetite for sin. We're talking about when you turn on your TV and you see a bunch of women that are scantily clad. Now, I know you say, well, I don't watch those shows. Look, you cannot even turn on the TV in 2009. I don't care if you're watching The Weather Channel or Homes and Gardens. I mean, the women that are on TV are not going to be dressed right, facing. I mean, you turn on the TV and you're going to see a bunch of women, you know, in a tight pair of pants, in a low-cut top. They're going to be dressed to provoke men to lust after them. Why? Because that's what sells. Why? Because that's what the world loves. Why? Because that's what always has been in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes. You see, it's one thing to have the lust of the flesh, to want to gratify your flesh with something that you have not gratified, such as adultery, fornication, or even an abundance of food. You know, the Bible talks about gluttony. The Bible talks about overeating or eating garbage. You know, we ought not live to eat. We ought to eat to live. We shouldn't just gorge ourselves with junk food and just feed the flesh and gorge ourselves. You know, we should eat for strength and not for drunkenness, the Bible says in Ecclesiastes. Gratifying the flesh, or even worse than that would be to go out and commit adultery or fornication or, you know, smoking a cigarette is just gratifying the fleshly appetite that you have for that cigarette, a fleshly addiction to drugs, to alcohol, whatever the case may be. But not only is the lust of the flesh an issue, the lust of the eyes is a sin in and of itself. It's a sin in and of itself. Even to look is a sin. Job said this, I made a covenant with my eyes. Why then should I think upon a maid? Now, a lot of people today, they say, well, you know, if you look at a woman to lust after her, you committed adultery already with her in your heart. And that's true. You know, if you look upon a woman, lust after her, you committed adultery with her already in your heart. But wait a minute, just looking upon a woman also that is nude or that is part nude or that is, you know, dressed in a way that's wrong, the Bible says in the book of Proverbs, lust not after her beauty in thy heart. So it's not even right to sit there and look upon it and say, well, I wasn't thinking a dirty thought when I saw this woman, you know, in the bathing suit on the screen. But you enjoy looking at it, that's the lust of the eyes. Because the lust of the flesh would be to commit some sin, but then there's the lust of the eyes when you desire to look upon something that's wrong. The Bible said, ooze ooze, I've heard this term, eye candy. You ever heard that phrase before? You know, this is what movies and TV shows are packed with because it's just things that just stimulate your eyeballs, you know, you see all these images. Let me tell you something. It is not just wrong to go out and commit the sin. Hey, it is wrong to look upon it. David said, I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes. I hate the work of them that turn aside. It shall not cleave to me. And so turning on the TV and watching a bunch of women that are dressed in a way that's inappropriate where they're scantily clad, that is a sin in and of itself. It's a sin. You're doing wrong. You're disobeying God's command to abstain from flesh to lust, to not give in to the lust of the eyes. So lust to the flesh, the lust of the eyes. But here's a big one, the pride of life. The pride of life. Now what is this about? Well, it turns out you wouldn't have rehearsed Timothy chapter two. Now notice what the Bible is saying here. It says the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. These are the things that make up all the things that are in the world. Because he said, for all that is in the world, come. And he's going to tell us about the things in the world. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world. You see, some things are of the Father. Some things came from God. Other things came from the world. Things that come from God are right. The Bible came from God. Nature, God's creation, food that he created, fruits, vegetables, meat, grain. These are the things that come from God. These are good things. Family, husband, wife, brother, sister, you know, work, all these things. These are good, positive things that came from God. Then there's the things that the world puts out to get you to lust with your eyes or to stimulate the pride of life. What is the pride of life? Well, think about, you say, why do you call it a worldly TV show? Why is it a worldly movie? Because the worldly movie stars and TV stars are filled with pride. Look at the billboard and the poster, you know. Look at the thing about the posing. You know, I walked into a clothing store the other day because I was doing the fire alarm annual inspection. That's what I do for a living. I walked in and the store was called Charlotte Rouge. This is in the mall. You know, it's like a trendy store in the mall. And I was doing the fire alarm system there, okay. I walked in and all the pictures on the wall, the women were frowning. They were making like a mean face. And they're, you know, they're wearing their dresses and they, come on, they're just... And I'm saying to myself, no, is that attractive? I mean, why is this making this woman beautiful? Because she's frowning or glaring. I mean, who knows what I'm talking about? Like a hateful look, you know, or just an evil look in their eyes. And I was just looking and I was like, this is horrible, you know. Why, but what is this? Why, but what is this pride? You know, this look on your face. Well, you're just so cool. You know, that's what, that's what they're saying. You know, you look at the cover of the rap CDs, you look at the cover of the movies and it's all about pride. It's all about wearing fancy clothing, fancy this, fancy hairdo, fancy makeup, all the bling, all the jewelry, all the gear, so that they can just look so cool and then they get that look on their face just to top it all up. That's the pride of life, my friend. And here's what a lot of people are mixed up on. They get mixed up on what modest apparel is because that's what we're going to look at here. Let's let the Bible tell us what modest apparel is, okay. Instead of just believing what somebody told us modest apparel means, oh, that means your skirt's not too short. Oh, that means that your top's on. Now, those things are important too. God says that our nakedness should be covered, et cetera. And that definitely falls under the canopy of modesty, but there's more to modest apparel than that. That's not all there is to it. Look at 1 Timothy 2 and let's get God's definition of what it means to have modest apparel. In 1 Timothy 2, verse number 9, it says, in like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel with shamefacedness and sobriety. Now, let's see what the opposite of modest apparel is. Not with broided hair or gold or pearls or costly array, but which becometh women professing godliness with good works. Now, is that what you thought that modest apparel was? Is that what you thought that modest apparel was? But see, what I think or what you think or what somebody else says isn't the issue. This is what the Bible is saying here. He's saying women need to be adored in modest apparel, which means not with broided hair or gold or pearls or costly array, but which becometh women professing godliness with good works. So what is God warning about when he tells women to wear modest apparel? He's telling them not to be flashy. That's what it's saying. Not to be too fancy and flashy. That's what it actually says. You see, you can get up and say it means something else, but the Bible has said, broided hair, gold, pearls, and costly array. That's what God thought he ought to emphasize. What does he mean by that? You see, modesty is basically very similar to humility. Think about it. If I said, well, I tell you what a good swimmer I am, but I'm too modest. Have you ever heard this phrase? Modesty forbids. I say that because I'm a terrible swimmer. I'm not that bad of a swimmer, but I'm one of those people who just sinks like a rock. I get sucked in on my air, lay on my back, and I'll just drop to the bottom. Some people compose that way, and I'm one of them. The other day, Titan sees me and I swim better. He's like a swim instructor or something. He took me in my pool and was showing me how to do it. I swim pretty far, but I sink. Modesty is a lack of praising yourself. If someone's not modest, it means they praise themselves. Look at me. Look how wonderful I am. Look how great I am. So you see how pride and immodesty pretty much go hand in hand. Modesty and humility, hey, it's not about me. It's not about how cool I can look. It's not all about my appearance. I'm not trying to get everybody to look at me. It's about Jesus. It's about God. It's about other people. It's not all about me. That's the opposite. So when God talks about the pride of life, we can see how modesty would be the opposite of having the pride of life. For example, a woman in the way that she dresses. This is what we're looking at in Bible. Modest apparel. Now, if a woman is, let's say her skirt goes down to her knee, you know, covers up her thighs, which the Bible says you expose your thighs, your nakedness, see Exodus .8, 42, and I say .73. Let's say she's got the skirt that's the right length. Let's say she's completely covered, but let's say she's covered in sequins like a Las Vegas showgirl from here to here. Is she in violation of this scripture or not? You say, oh, but she's covered up and everything, so it's modest. No. Because that's an outfit that's saying, hey everybody, look at me. Now obviously the low-cut top is saying the same thing. The short skirt's saying the same thing. So that falls within the immodesty. But modesty is more than that. It's about not just having to wear the fanciest clothes. It says, not with costly array. And I mean, going out and buying some several hundred dollar dress, you can think that you're not violating God's word, but you just have, because He said not to be arrayed in costly array, costly apparel. Gold. Gold's expensive. Pearls. Broided hair. You know, fancy hairdo. You know, a big beehive. I don't know. You know, whatever fancy hairdo. Oh man, you've got to go and spend all this money to have the fancy nails and the fancy hair and the sequins all over your outfit and the gold chains like Mr. T around your neck and the fancy pedicure and the fancy heels. And it's all about pride. Look at me. Look how good I look. Everybody stop and look at me. God is saying, let your attraction not be the outward adorning, He said in 1 Peter 3, of the gold and the putting on of apparel and the silver and the precious stuff. He said, let it be the inward man of the heart. A woman's value is not just in her appearance, but it is rather in her integrity, her spirituality, her godliness. The Bible says favor is deceitful and beauty is vain. But a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. And so it's not about how you look, ladies. Instead of spending an hour in the morning or two hours in the morning getting all dolled up, why don't you spend an hour reading the Bible and then see if God's going to bless your life more than if you spent two hours getting yourself ready in the morning? Now think about that for a minute. You say, well, I'm young and I'm single and I want to meet the right man. God's going to bless you with the right man if you spend your hour in the Bible, your sweet hour of prayer, more than spending an hour with Maybelline and an hour with, you know, whatever. I don't even know if that's my brand. I'm sorry. Mary Kay. Oh, go ahead and give me spirit on that. People selling stuff in church. That's a whole other sermon. God's house, not the house of merchandise. But anyway, so, you know, leave your airway Tupperware and Mary Kay's door. But the bottom line is, look, the pride of life. What does Hollywood promote? A look that's expensive, a look that's flashy, a look that's all about me. And when we begin to dress that way, we are worldly. That's when we step into the realm of worldliness. I don't care whether it's violating a scripture on, you know, covering your nakedness. If it's flashy, if it's expensive, if it's fancy, God said no in 1 Timothy 2. You are not being modest. Pride. You know, and women are the ones who would maybe mainly be doing this, but today it's the men. You know, in the Bible days, he's preaching to the women, right? Good night. If it was today, Paul would have to be preaching to the men. Oh, not too many gold earrings, guys. You know, not too much, you know, gold and pearls and, you know, constantly rape. And today, guys have been sucked into this worldly clothing. They'll go down to the mall. And, you know, God help you if you ever go to Abercrombie and Fitch or Urban Outfitters. Don't even come to this church if that's where you get your clothes, okay? Because, I mean, these stores, I was in, you know, I've never, I would refuse to even do a fire alarm in Abercrombie and Fitch because that place is so, I don't even like to walk by that filthy place. I mean, it's owned by queers. You got a bunch of obscene pictures. I've never even been in the store just walking by it. Just obscene pictures. People carrying the bag from Abercrombie and Fitch in the mall has an obscene picture on the back. And so I wouldn't even set foot in that place. But I made the mistake of doing a fire alarm job at an Urban Outfitter, okay? I got the call to go down to the Urban Outfitter and I walked in there. There's a guy buying pants. And he's buying jeans that had holes in them and paint stains on them. On the rack. I mean, they're on the rack. They have paint stains and holes in them. And the fag that was like waiting upon him, okay, that worked there, you know, with like a faux lock and he's got all these, he looked like he fell out of the fishing tackle box. He had so many piercings on his face, okay? He's standing there and he's trying to help this other sodomite try to figure out which pants. And he said, you know, I want a little more paint but a little less holes. Okay, well how about this pair? No, that's a little bit too many holes, you know. I like the level of paint stains. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Buying pants that come with paint stains and holes in them and they were like 90 bucks. Okay, this is what we're talking about. These guys now that go out and they buy the, they got to have the name brands, the fancy clothes, the little tailored shirt and the pants that are skin tight and they've got to look so cool. Hey, I'm not trying to look cool tonight. I'm trying to have durable clothing. I'm trying to just dress like a man, dress right, cover my nakedness and be modest. I'm not trying to draw attention to myself. I don't walk down the street and everybody just looks at me the way I'm dressed right now. People don't get in the car asking them because they're looking at me as I'm walking down the street. I'm not trying to draw. You say, what kind of fashion statement are you trying to make? Here's my fashion statement I'm trying to make throughout the week. Man. That's all. I can sell off my fashion statement in three letters. My style. This is how I roll. Okay. Man. That's it. And you know, this is as fancy as I get in church. I mean this is radical for me. A necktie, a jacket and a white shirt and a pair of slacks. During the week, it's just a work shirt. Everybody knows me knows that I pretty much have, I usually have two modes of dress. Work clothes and a suit. That's usually nine times out of ten that's how I'm dressed. I just put on work clothes. I don't sit there and worry about how cool I look and stand in front of the mirror. I don't need a mirror. If we didn't have a mirror in my house, I'd be just fine. You know, all I need is a piece of metal on the wall. You know, like at the rest stop. Just a piece of metal where you get a real vague impression of what you look like. Hey look, today men have become worldly when they want to dress in a flashy way that looks like Hollywood, that's patterned after what's in the world, that's patterned after the rap artists, that's patterned after the movie stars. Hey, I'm not trying to be like the world. I'm trying to be different than the world. And I'm not going to wear flashy clothing and women are not going to wear flashy clothing either. But let's look at another aspect of worldliness. Let's look at Titus chapter 2. We're in 1 Timothy. Just flip over a few pages to the right in the Bible. Look at Titus chapter 2. Titus chapter 2, the Bible reads in verse 11, for the grace of God, the great salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and what? Worldly lusts. So the word worldly is definitely a vital word. And this goes back to what we saw in 1 John 2, the lust of lust, the lust of God. Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world, looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Now Jesus said this in John 17. He's praying to the Father. You remember this in John 17? He said, I would not that thou wouldest take them out of the world, but that thou wouldest keep them from the evil. You see, we live in the world. We're not trying to seclude ourselves from the world. We're not monks in a monastery that are going to go and separate ourselves and never go outside because we want to stay away from any sin so we're never going to leave the house. We're going to go live in a commune, in a compound. No, that's not what we've been called to. Jesus said, I want you to be in the world. He said that we might live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. We have to be in the world, but he said that we're not to be of the world. We're not to live a life characterized by worldly lusts, worldly desires. What does the word lust mean? Desire. It's a desire. It's synonymous with the word covet, covetousness. Paul said this. He said, I would not have known that lust was a sin except the scripture had said thou should not covet. So there he basically equates lust and covet, and covetousness. And so here we see he says, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. Soberly. So what's another aspect of worldliness? A lack of sobriety. So we saw, first of all, lust. We saw two kinds of lust. The kind of lust with your flesh feeding an appetite, overeating, feeding junk food, or going out and fulfilling the adultery appetite or fornication appetite. But then there's another lust, the lust of the eyes, the desire to look upon that which god has commanded us not to look upon. But here we see another aspect of worldliness, a lack of sobriety. You see, most of the world goes through life non-sober. Say, wait a minute. I know a lot of people who don't drink. You know what? There's so many ways in which people are not sober. Because it's not just alcohol. It's marijuana as part of it. Because you're not sober when you're smoking marijuana. You say, well where does the Bible condemn drugs? Right here. Be sober. Okay, what about all the prescription drugs that people are on? Now look, I'm not against ever taking any prescription drugs. You know, Jesus said, they that behold need not a physician, but they that are sick. There is a time when someone's sick and they need to go to the doctor and need to get treatment. I'm not against doctors. But they that behold need not a physician. So I don't go to the doctor unless there's something wrong with me. And even then I go kicking and screaming. The last time I went to the doctor I was taking their hand cuts. But that's another story for another story. But anyway, the point is, and I'm not kidding. The point is, people today take drugs that the doctor isn't, because they think that the doctor's like a god-man. So whatever he gives them must be okay today. Well, he prescribed them, it must be okay. And yet today, many people don't know that a lot of the drugs they're getting in prescription drugs are mind-altering drugs. They're mind-altering drugs. Listen, Tamiflu is a mind-altering drug. Now you usually say, oh you're crazy. Who knows what Tamiflu is? You know, you say it's in the news a lot because of the swine flu. It has side effects of anxiety. It could be depression. It could be panic. If you read the side effects, why? Because it's altering the function of your mind. That's why it has negative effects on your mind. A lot of people don't realize that muscle relaxers are the same active ingredient as antidepressants. It's true. Antidepressants, psychiatric drugs for people who are depressed, and muscle relaxers are the same thing. A doctor gave me muscle relaxer before, and I didn't take them because I said, you know what? I looked it up, and I said, muscle relaxer, antidepressants, these are both mind-altering drugs. Narcotics. And by the way, Vicodin and morphine are narcotics. Codeine is just as much of a narcotic as heroin is a narcotic as street morphine is a narcotic. They all operate the same. It is dope that they're giving you. It's true. What does the word dope mean? It comes from the word dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical that's released in your brain when you take drugs, when you take narcotics. Because there are different kinds of drugs. One classification of drugs is called narcotics. Narcotics are drugs that stimulate the reward center of your brain to release a substance called dopamine that gives you a sensation of feeling good. This is what narcotics do. Codeine is made from opium. Heroin is made from opium. Morphine is derived from opium. And they are all narcotics. They all go to the reward center of your brain and release dopamine. And they basically are the same thing. It's just a very much milder form of taking heroin is what you're taking when you take these drugs. Now look, people take these drugs like they're nothing. A little discomfort, a little pain. Take a bite of it. Not me. I'm not going to take it. I'm going to be sober. I want to keep my mind clear. And you know what? The sad thing is people take this and they're not trying to get addicted to drugs. I've known a lot of people who just went to the doctor innocently, were dealing with some pain, prescribed vitamin, got hooked on vitamin. And they even told the doctor, I'm thinking of a specific person, told the doctor, I am getting addicted to this drug. Can you please give me something else or get me off this? And the doctor said, that's not addictive. Don't worry about it. And he just got more and more addicted to it, more and more addicted to it, more and more addicted to it, until he was taking a whole lot of Vicodin. He started buying Vicodin illegally. He had a physical dependency. And actually an overdose occurred. Ambulance. And this was somebody who wasn't trying to get into this. But he was basically a victim of a doctor who just wanted to make money and wants to just fill you with dope. And so look, God commands us to be sober. Now look, if you're cutting off somebody's leg or something, okay. Give them some dope. Hit them on the head with a hammer. Give them rum or whatever you give them. And it's like, if you're against drinking, that's what they used to do when they performed surgery on people. They'd drink them into a stupor. You know, I was just reading a book that my son had about, you know, the sea and pirate ships and all this stuff. And it was like a non-fiction book. It was explaining how they would do surgery on people who had got gangrene and had a limb removed and everything. And they would basically, they would drink alcohol in order to, you know, put them out of their senses so that they could do it. You know, I can't see what the difference is between alcohol and drugs because they both do the same thing. They're both damaging to your brain. They're both making you have a sensation that you can't feel what's going on around you. Hey, they've stricken me and I've not felt it. That's what it says in Proverbs 23. You remember that, about the effects of alcohol? Who hath woe, who hath babbling, less sorrow, who hath wounds without cause, who hath redness of eyes, they that tarry long into wine, they that go to seek mixed wine, look not upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth its color in the cup, when it moveth itself ripe, for at the last it vited like a serpent, it steamed like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thy mouth shall utter perverse things. And what does it say? They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I have not felt it. You know, hey, when shall I rise? I'll seek it yet again. And so beware of alcohol. Beware of drugs. Because I'm here to tell you, America is on to it tonight. Almost everybody I know is taking something or drinking something, and you know, what, three-quarters of the people in America drink anyway. And then those who don't drink are on some kind of drug. And Christians are being sucked into this. Hey, it's time for Christians to start being sober. Worldliness is lust. Worldliness is a lack of sobriety. If you drink, you're worldly. If you take drugs, you're worldly. He said if you don't want to be worldly, he said be sober, righteous, and godly. Let's look at another place. Look at James 4. James 4. James 4 says this. Verse 4, ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever, therefore, will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. So here's a third aspect of worldliness. Being a buddy of those who are unbelievers, being their buddy, being their friend. The Bible says, be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship hath righteousness without righteousness? What agreement hath the temple god with idols? What conquered hath Christ with Belial? We need to be separated from those that are ungodly. Now, does this mean we can never be around people that are unsafe? Look, we work with people that are unsafe. Our neighbors are unsafe. We can be friendly and kind and courteous to them. When I go to work, I go out to lunch with people that are unsafe all the time. You know, I go out to eat with coworkers, it's fine. But you know what? I'm not going to go on my weekend and go hang around with a bunch of unbelievers for my recreation. And I've seen a lot of Christians live who are destroyed by ungodly friends. And we only tell it to our children, right? We tell it to the teenagers, but we ought to take heed to it ourselves. Being buddy, and a lot of people struggle with this because they get saved. And when they get saved, all their friends before they got saved were all unbelievers, right? And what's going to happen is a lot of times those friends will pull them back into sin that they've already forsaken. I mean, they'll quit drinking, they'll start going to church, they'll do everything, but then they get around those friends, everybody's drinking, and it's so easy to just fall right back into those old ways. The flesh is still there. I mean, the spirit has been renewed, the spirit's been regenerated, the spirit's been reborn when they got saved. But the flesh is the same flesh from when they got saved, and the worst thing sometimes is to get around those old friends, and all of a sudden, you know, you're just back to it. Ungodly friends, worldly friends. I'm against it. I am not buddy-buddy with people that are unsaved. I'm their acquaintance, I'll be polite to them, I'll be friendly to them, we'll have lunch together, you know, on the lunch break, but I will not go out and paddle around, I'm not going to be close friends with those that are not saved. I'm not going to do it. You say, what about people that are saved, but they're wicked. You know, they're living in fornication, they're already wrong. The Bible says not to even eat lunch with them, so it's an even stronger degree of separation. He said, hey, I didn't tell you to separate from everybody who's a fornicator or extortioner. Extortioner means they work for the IRS or the Highway Patrol, idolater, cabbages. He said, I didn't tell you to separate from them because he said you have to leave the world. Then must you need to go out of the world, but he said, I told you that if any be called a brother who's a fornicator or a regular or an extortioner or an idolater, you know, with such an one you'll not to eat. Okay, so there's an even stronger degree of separation there. Being separate, not being a friend of the world, not committing the spiritual adultery of trying to be a friend of the world and a friend of God at once. He says, whosoever therefore will be the friend of the world is the enemy of God. Preachers who want to be the friend of the world. Let's name the names. Rick Warren. Any pastor that can be accepted on national television and hold the Bible and, you know, and pray with Barack Obama, right, there's something wrong with that preacher. And that's Rick Warren, Southern Baptist from Southern California. Mission Viejo, pastor. You say, oh, I like Rick Warren. He's a good guy. No, he's not. He's the enemy of God. He's the friend of the world. He brings him up to homosexuals on his platform. He's all into all this fighting AIDS and he's into all this communist garbage and he's into all this one world government stuff. He's sitting there. He can sit there and have Barack Obama come and speak in his church. He can sit there and hold out the Bible for Barack Obama and pray with Barack Obama. He's trying to be the buddy of the world. Let me just face it to you. Obama is not a righteous man. Obama is not saved. He's a Pentecostal, roll in the aisles, phony, fake, make believe, pretending to be a Christian, baby killer, murderer. Evil, filled with Satan. What else do you want me to say? He's leading us into a one world government. He's an antichrist. Him and his whole cabinet want us in the United Nations and they want to cast us to society. They want us all to be joined up with the world and yoked up when God ordained separate nations in Genesis 10 and 11. He wants a one world government. Let me tell you something. There is a one world government coming. It prophesied in the book of Revelation it's going to be the mark of the beast and the antichrist. And I'm sorry that Barack Obama is the tip of the spear for Satan's plan for a one world government and for the destruction of everything that's right and decent in America. Let me tell you something. June 2009 is Gay Lesbian Transgender Month as pronounced by Barack Obama on the White House website. Live it up. Celebrate. Let's go out and celebrate after church. Let's celebrate Gay Month because that's what Barack Obama has proclaimed June to be. June is the month of Sodomy. And if you don't like that, if you don't like somebody getting up and calling a spade a spade, you say, oh, he's our leader. He's not my leader. He's not my president. I hope he dies and goes to hell. Because that's what the Bible says you got to go. He's wicked. He's evil. He's filled with Satan. He wants to murder children. He sent money from your tax dollars to Africa to murder children through abortion clinics and all these different programs that we donate to. It's a fact. I can't get up here. If you want to go somewhere where somebody's going to lie to you, you won't have to have a hard time finding these hurts that's going to get up and lie to you. But I'm going to tell you the truth. And if Rick Warren can sit there and be his buddy, be his friend, shake his hand and oh yeah, let's get on TV. Oh yeah, me and Barack Obama. Hey, you're the enemy of God, Rick Warren. It used to be Billy Graham that was the enemy of God, but he's too old. He's closer to going to hell now. So now Rick Warren's got to pick up the torch and be the new enemy of God in America that gets on TV, preaches lies, preaches heresy and tells people that even if they don't believe in Jesus, they're still going to be saved. That's what Billy Graham said. He said, even people who have never even heard of Jesus will be in heaven. He said, I believe that the Muslims are following the light that they have and I believe they'll be with us in heaven. I've seen it with my own eyes. I saw Billy Graham say that. I've seen Billy Graham with my own eyes say, I feel just as comfortable in a Mormon church, as a Catholic church, as a Baptist church. I've heard Billy Graham get up and say that people will be saved and on their way to heaven, even if they've never heard the name of Jesus. I've heard Billy Graham say with his own mouth that he's not sure that there's even fire in hell. He thinks that hell is just being separated from God. No, they'll be tormented in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb, it says in Revelation 14, 10 and 11. He says they'll be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the Lamb. It's not separation of God from God, my friend. It's a burning hell and a real fire. And Billy Graham is the enemy of God tonight. He wants to be the friend of the world. He doesn't even believe that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. He thinks you can go other route and get there. Joel Osteen said that he believes that the Hindus love God and are on their way to heaven. He said, my dad spent time in India and even though they're not Christian, they love God. And I can't imagine that they would ever go to hell. But go ahead. Just pretend that I'm lying. If you don't believe me, go look it up. It's all up. You can get the video clip. You can watch it and say it. You can read the newspaper article. You can see everything that they said. It's clear that these people are not serving God with their own belly. Whose endless destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mine earthly things. For our conversation is in heaven, from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. You see, they want to be the friend of the world. They want to please man. Paul said it by now, please man, that I should not be the servant of Christ. Galatians 1, for if I yet please men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Rick Warren, Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, these are God's enemies tonight. Say, oh well, they're preaching the gospel. They're preaching another gospel. You say, oh Billy Graham, you used to preach the gospel. That's a lie. I don't know who told you that, but I saw a video clip of him praying, this is probably like the first camera ever invented because it was like this old reel. You know those old news reels? It was from like 1953 or 1947. And he got up and said, if you want to be saved, you have to give your life over to Christ and turn from your sins to be saved. That's not the God. Oh, that's good news. The good news is if you turn from your sins, which is impossible, and if you give your life to Christ, then you'll be saved. Hey, I didn't give my life to Christ. Christ gave his life to me. He's preaching the opposite of the gospel. Jesus Christ showed up and wrote that he gave. I didn't give him. Oh, I'll give you my life and then I'll be saved. No, I didn't give him anything. Lord, nothing good have I whereby thy grace be claimed. I'll wash my garments white and the blood of Calvary slain. Jesus paid it all, all the hemio sin that left the crimson stain. He washed their white as snow. Billy Graham has always preached another gospel. Face it, feel it. You say, oh no, I still think Billy Graham was saved. I still think he did some good things. I still think he did right. Then the Bible isn't true because the Bible said that if they hated me, they will hate you. They don't hate Billy Graham. Billy Graham could make one phone call and be on CBS tonight. He could make one phone call and be on NBC tonight. He could make one phone call and be on ABC tonight. And he would get the ratings. Everyone would watch it. Catholics would tune in. Mormons would tune in. Everybody would tune in because he's loved by the world. Face it. Worldliness. What are we talking about? Being buddy-buddy with the world. Buddy-buddy with Barack Obama. Buddy-buddy with the Dalai Lama. Buddy-buddy with Bishop Tutu.
