That's why that's in there. For you, you get that two-hour leeway while they make their way down here. Brother Segura comes down in the van. He'll pull right in here, make a quick bathroom break. Anybody that wants to go can just meet right here at the building at 9. We'll get you down there. We'll feed you lunch, dinner, and get you back here. You'll probably get back here around 7-ish, if I had to guess. I think he goes a little bit longer. It's a later return time just because he doesn't want people to think they're going to get back earlier than they actually are. You'll probably get back earlier than that. He just likes to keep himself out of hot water with folks. That's why he's got that late time. If you have any questions, please feel free to see me. There's a sign-up sheet on the back there. If you want to go, please do sign up. On the back, we've got Operation Confiscation in full swing. Those are to illustrate false Bible versions being thrown into the fire where they belong to be burned. We're replacing false versions with the King James. We've got plenty of paperbacks if you need one. Go ahead and grab one off the back there. When you're out soul winning or in your personal day-to-day, just replace your false version with a new one. Bring it back, sign it, toss it in the metal waste basket. At the end of the year, we'll count them all up. You get a first, second, and third place. Last week, I showed you the wide margin that's in here. I just got this one in yesterday. This is another Bible you could win. I don't know what model this is. It's King James. I can't tell you that much. It's a pretty nice one. These are going to be up here. If you want to look at these, come up and smell them. Get that new Bible smell. I love new Bible smells. It's better than new car smell any day. That's going to be up here. If you want to look at these, they're underneath here. Just open it up. If you need to get motivated, I'll have them stacked right here. Just please don't take any notes. Make sure you don't bend any pages. Be careful as you handle them because I don't want to hand out a used Bible. Anyway, you've got all year to get that done, so keep working on that. Then we've got children's weekly Bible memory passage. I wanted to do just verse 140, but I thought, man, it's too short. You can't do just one. It's going to be too easy. Then I read verse 141, and I thought, well, I've got to put that in there because that's just perfect for the kids. It says, thy word is very pure. Therefore, thy servant loveth it. I am small and despised, yet do I not forget thy every piece of... No, I'm sure there's no child in here that that would be their testimony that they are small and despised. Probably just despised. No, I'm just kidding. Just small. I understand. I thought that was a good one. It'd be funny to hear the kids say that. I am small and despised. Yes, you are. I'm going to get in so much trouble before I... I haven't even started preaching yet. Anyway, that's the verse for this week. Children who can recite the passage word perfect to an unrelated adult may have an ice cream bar from the freezer. Also, we've got a couple other upcoming events, the camping trip as well as the preaching class next month. Take note of those. That'll do it for announcements. We'll go ahead and sing one more song before we get to preaching this morning. So, 247, safe, safe. I love to tell how He lifted me And what His grace can do for you Saved by His power divine Saved through my soul blood I proudly speak and my joy is complete for all Saved, saved, saved He saves me from every sin and harm Secures my soul each day I'm keeping strong but His mighty arm I know He'll guide me all the way Saved by His power divine Saved through new lives divine Right now He's sweet and my joy is complete for all Saved, saved, saved With war and need all alone In love He said to me The one to me and I'll lead you home To live and be eternally Saved by His power divine Saved through new lives divine I proudly speak and my joy is complete for all Saved, saved, saved Please follow the Bible and read from Matthew chapter 16 Matthew chapter 16 Verse 1 of the Bible reads The Pharisees also were the savages of this king The tempest and the dire ones who had showed him the signs of heaven He answered and said unto them, What indeed will you say? It will be farewell to the sky's red In the morning there was a fallow there today The sky's red and oval And hypocrites, and to discern the face of the sky We can have certain signs and times The wicked and the dulcish generation Seeked up with signs There should no sign of guineas But a sign of the proper judge He left them and parted When a disciple would come to the other side For God to take bread And be a sinner to them To eat or wherever he left them The Pharisees were the savages And they reasoned among themselves, saying It was because they had taken no bread It was because he had just perceived He said unto them, We need little faith But reasonably among yourselves It could be a proper bread Do you not yet understand Had they remembered the five worlds And the five thousand And how many baskets it took up And the seven worlds And the four thousand And how many baskets it took up How is it that you do not understand That it's taken out to you for certain bread That you should wear eleven And the Pharisees were the satisfied Then understood they How that you bated And not be wearing eleven bread As a doctrine And the Pharisees were satisfied When Jesus came Into the closest history of Philippi He asked the disciples, saying Only men could die and some a man now And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist And some Elias And others their Myers Or one of the prophets He said unto them, For whom is there neither there? then, you know, the next logical step would be, well, if God can't preserve his own word, then what kind of a God is he? And that doesn't line up with what we see in creation, does it? When we behold the sun, the moon, the stars, when day under day on earth speech, we say there is a God. He is powerful. He is almighty. Writing a book is pretty easy. Writing a book. This is Mickey Mouse for God. I mean, he made you. You're more complicated than the Bible. That's what I want to lead. That's how I'm leading into the series. I want us to understand that we believe the word of God to be truth by faith. If you look at 1 Thessalonians chapter 2, look at verse 13. For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, because when he received the word of God, which he heard of us, he received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. That's how we all have to come to the word of God, believing that it is the word of God, and that, you know what, we can test that. We can observe that to be true because of the fact that, as he says there, it effectually work, effectually worketh also in you that believe. I mean, after that day when I said this is God's word and I believe it by faith, I've seen it work over and over and over and over and over again. I've seen it work in my own life and the people that I know, people in this church and people in other churches that I've been a part of. I've seen the word of God just work in people's life. That's how I know it's to be true, because it has power. You say, well, the Bible is just man's opinion. It's just all written by man. It's not God's word. Then where has God revealed himself? Then who is God? That would be my next question. Is it in the Quran? I have a hard time believing that. Is it in the Tao Te Ching? Is it in some other holy writing out there? Is it another some sacred text that doesn't have power, that might have a lot of relatable things just philosophically, just things that we can relate to on a human level, but offers no explanation for who God is or how we got here or answer any of the questions of life, why we're here, where we're going when we die, all these questions that philosophers struggle with and ponder over, the Bible just has crystal clear answers for. If it's not the word of God, then where is God? Where has God revealed himself? You'd have to determine that he hasn't and that God is hiding from us, that God doesn't want to be found. But we believe that God has revealed himself in the word of God. And that revelation is supernatural. For God to reveal himself to us, I mean, it is an act of God, isn't it? It's supernatural. Thus, the Bible is a supernatural book. That's why it works effectually in them also that believe because it's a spiritual book with spiritual power. It's supernatural. You would go to Romans chapter 1, Romans chapter 1. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 29, the secret things belong unto the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. I'll read that again. It says that those things which are revealed are what? They belong unto us and our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law, meaning this. The words of this law are the things which are revealed. That's what the Bible plainly says, that it claims to be the word of God, that it declares itself to be those very things which God has revealed to us. And that's a supernatural revelation. Now, we're talking specifically this morning, preaching specifically about this idea of revelation. And we can really break that up into two categories. You have the supernatural revelation, which I've talked about just for a moment here. But I want to bear in here towards the end. And probably what I'll have to get into the rest of it later tonight is, but I want to bear in on the natural revelation that God has given to all men. So we have the natural, and we have the supernatural, or what we can call the natural or the general revelation of God to man, meaning this, that there is knowledge of God that can be derived from what? From just the natural world, isn't there? There is a knowledge of God that can be observed in the natural world. And that is accessible to all men throughout all creation. If you look there in Romans chapter 1, look at verse 19. It says, because that which may be known of God is manifest in them, for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen. The invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, meaning we can look at things in the creation of the world and understand some things about God, things that are invisible, things that cannot be observed in the natural world. For example, the existence of God. We look at the natural world and say, that's proof that God exists, the delicate balance that nature is in. Science starts with about nature and how complex it is. And everything looks like it's designed. Everything looks like it's Swiss watch or something like that, and say, monkeys must have put this together millions of years ago. Someone must have just thrown all these parts together and rattled them around for a while, and poof, out came this great intricate mechanism called a wristwatch. But that's what a lot of people believe. We laugh at that. It is funny, but that's exactly what they're saying, just on a much bigger scale. They're looking at the natural world and seeing how complex it is and how delicate it all is and what a perfect balance it's all held in. They're saying, hmm, wow, it's amazing that all just came from a bunch of ooze that spat out some kind of, oh, it rained on a rock, and we're all here. That's what they believe. Look, that's as much of a statement as faith of anything that I've said here tonight, or this morning. That's something you have to believe by faith. He says there, verse 20, the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made. That's us. We are the things that are made. A man looks at the things which are clearly seen and understands the things that are invisible of God perfectly. He says they are understood. God has revealed Himself in the natural world to all men. He said in Isaiah, I'll read to you. Go to Romans chapter 2. To whom then will you liken me? Who shall I be equal? Say it, the Holy One. Lift up your eyes, and behold, who hath created these things, and bringeth out their hosts by number. Call with them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power, not one faileth. So we see that God has revealed Himself in the natural world just generally to all men, to all mankind. So we can see that natural, but it's also observable even in human history. Even we see things that archaeologists figure this out. They read about the stories in the Old Testament where things happen, and then they go dig up some artifact and say, well, that confirms. And they say, oh, yeah, these were the cultures that existed in the Bible times. And the Bible lines up with history. Should say the history lines up with the Bible. The Bible says in Psalm 19, the Lord is known by the judgment which He executed. Things that God has done, people have written about. I mean, it's no coincidence that every major culture in the world has a story about what? A great flood that covered the whole earth. Even down in the darkest, remote areas of some Amazon somewhere, there's some myth where some guy a long time ago tried to chop down a tree, and all this water started pouring out. And it never stopped, and the whole earth was flooded. They're just trying to explain how it happened, because it happened. And we're surrounded by evidence of the flood. I mean, we got one right up here right in our state called the Grand Canyon. So the Lord is known by the judgment which He executed. It's even observable in human history. But again, these are all just things that we use to bolster the faith that we already have. It's revealed in human conscience. If you look at Romans chapter 2, look at verse 14. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these having not the law are a law unto themselves, which show the world that the law is not would show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience. He's saying here, look, the law of witness, either for them or against them, either accusing or else excusing one another, saying, that's right, that's wrong. I'm accusing that. I'll excuse this. Because that law of God is written on the hearts of all men. It's revealed in our human conscience. Now, here's the thing about, we'll say, what's the point of natural or general revelation? It does prove to man that there is a God, but it is limited. God is limited to the fact that it doesn't testify to everything about God, does it? They can't just look at nature and understand the personality of God. They can't understand salvation. They can just understand there is a God. It testifies of his existence. It testifies of his power. It testifies of his intelligence. It does not testify of salvation. Man is actually condemned, when you think about it, by natural revelation. When man understands that there is a God and fails to seek after him or tries to create God in his own image, he's basically condemned himself. Really, natural revelation just condemns man. Go to Romans chapter 8, Romans chapter 8. It says in Romans chapter 5, wherefore is by one man sinner entered into the world, and death by sin, so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. So man looks at creation, and what he should recognize is that there's sin, that it's condemned, that it's flawed. Look at Romans chapter 8, verse 20. The creature was made subject unto vanity not willingly, but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption under the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. So look, it takes more than just this general natural revelation that we can see in nature and in the observable universe to get man saved, because of the fact that creation itself has been marred by sin. It's imperfect. It says it right there. It needs to be delivered from the bondage of corruption, meaning it is corrupt, that it groans and travails in pain together. Go over to 2 Corinthians chapter 4, 2 Corinthians chapter number 4. So as we're going into the series, I'm just trying to lay the groundwork, that yes, we believe the King James Bible is the written word of God, that it is the preserved, inerrant word of God for English-speaking people. And we believe that by faith. And one of the reasons we believe that is because of the fact that God has to exist, and therefore, God has to reveal himself to us, and that either God has done that or he hasn't. And when we read this book, when we read the King James Bible and we see the power that it has in so many different ways, we determine that, yes, God has revealed himself through the word of God. We believe that. We come to the word of God as it is in truth, the word of God. But I want us to close on this and say, well, that's great. You've got a real philosophical argument up there this morning. You're really teasing the intellect. But how do you apply this to your life? What's the practical application? Well, think about the fact that God has revealed himself. And we have this treasure in the King James Bible of the special revelation. But all mankind has a general revelation just through nature itself. There's a lot of people that are living today that are looking at the world today that are looking around going, there is a God. But they don't know who he is. They don't know how to get saved. They don't know about Jesus. You know, there's kids today that don't even know who Jesus is. You say, who's Jesus? I don't know. You know, you would talk to him on Easter. What's Easter about, the Easter Bunny? What's Christmas about, Santa Claus? They haven't even heard the Christmas story in America. Now, it's rare, but it is happening. And you know what? The track that we're on, it probably won't be long until that's commonplace. They're certainly ignorant of a lot of the Bible stories anymore. They don't know about Samson. They don't know about Gideon. They don't know a lot about these stories. They could tell you all about SpongeBob SquarePants. They could tell you about Pokemon and everything else, but they don't know any of the Bible stories. Meaning this is that, you know, God has revealed himself to all mankind. We're special in the fact that we believe by faith that God has revealed it to himself specifically in the word of God. And there's a lot of people out there. They don't know what this book says. Look at 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verse 3. It says, but if our gospel be hid, it is hid from them that are lost, and whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. You know, the people that are out there that are lost, the Bible says that they're blinded. That Satan, the God of this world, has blinded their minds. Unless what? Lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Meaning this, they don't have to stay that way. You know, if we'll take this and shine it on them, you know, they will. And they can get saved. And they're not all going to get saved. They can at least hear what God has to say. They can at least hear the gospel. So when you were out preaching the gospel, we're not just out there doing that to bring back a number. I'm not against numbers. We're not about there just trying to make ourselves feel better. We're not out there just because we haven't got anything better to do. When you're going out to preach the gospel, think about the fact that you're carrying God's revelation to a lost sinner that is impossible for them to know without you. And say, well, you know, God has given all this revelation he has, but it's limited. There are some things about God that only you can share through his word. That there's people out there that will go their whole lives out knowing things about God unless we go and show them. That's what preaching the gospel is. It's revealing to the sinner what is otherwise impossible to know about God. The Bible says, and you don't believe that, we'll go 2 Corinthians 5. 2 Corinthians 5. I mean, isn't that what he said in 2 Corinthians 4? That the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image God, should shine unto them. Should is a maybe there. It should. It could. It doesn't mean it's necessarily going to shine unto them unless we go and shine it. 2 Corinthians 5, look at verse 20. In light of that truth, that gives a new twist on this familiar verse. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ as though God did beseech you by us. We pray you in Christ's dead be reconciled to God. We beseech you in Christ's dead. God did beseech you by us. When we're carrying this message, when we're carrying the message of the gospel, we are carrying not just God's general, natural revelation to all men, we are carrying a supernatural revelation to man, a special revelation to man through his word. And that supernatural, that special revelation, God's revelation of himself through specific acts that are recorded in the Bible, those are things that, and that's a whole nother sermon. And that's something that I'll get into tonight or perhaps next week, but I wanted to start this series off with that talking about the revelation. We'll get into the inspiration and the preservation and all of that as we go along. But it's important to understand that when we're starting in a series like this, when we're talking about the King James Bible and why we're King James only, why we believe this is the word of God, that first of all, we believe that by faith. But that's not an illogical thing. We can read the word of God and say, it all makes sense. We read the word of God and it clicks for us. We read the word of God and it confirms what we've already known in our hearts the whole time. So we'll go ahead and pray. Dear Lord, again, thank you for the Bible. Thank you for giving it to us. Lord, I pray it help us to be found reading it daily and Lord, not just hearing it, Lord, but doing the things that are written that we can have a blessed life. And Father, I pray that you would just keep us safe as we go. We ask in Christ's name, amen. All right, we'll go ahead and sing one more song before we go this morning. Let's turn to song number 12. Song number 12, blessed reading. Song 12. All that was granted by the Lord was Christ my Savior, weary and old. Facing the sinner, fed from the cross, letting my Savior from heaven's cross. Blessed be He, Lord, precious be He. Seems how I see Him on down the rich stream. Who've been bleeding, for sinners bleeding, lighted and feeling, dying for me. God, I'm forgiven, blessed be He. He was like a boat passed away. Prayed for sinners, proud and such war. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Blessed be He, Lord, blessed be He. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Blessed be He, Lord, precious be He. Seems how I see Him on down the rich stream. Who've been bleeding, for sinners bleeding, lighted and feeling, dying for me. Oh, how I love Him, Savior and friend. How can my praises never find Him? Through years of number, on heaven's shore, my tongue shall praise Him forevermore. Blessed be He, Lord, precious be He. Seems how I see Him on down the rich stream. Who've been bleeding, for sinners bleeding, lighted and feeling, dying for me. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Blessed be He, Lord, blessed be He. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. Loved one but Jesus, that we're loved so. .
