And what we're going to do is compare two different women in the Bible. We're going to compare Sarah versus Lot's wife. Now, the New Testament tells us, remember Lot's wife. It says that, I believe it's in Luke 17. We'll look at that later on. But oftentimes, I believe, we don't really notice the comparison between these two ladies because these are very famous chapters in the Bible. When you think of Genesis 19, you think of Sodom and Gomorrah. Okay, that's the first thing that comes to mind. Or you think of the end of the chapter where, you know, his daughters get him drunk and then Moab and Ammon come as a result of that. Okay, Genesis chapter 18. What do you remember? You remember Abraham basically saying, what if there's 50 righteous? What if there's 45? What if there's 40? You remember just the bartering back and forth. But I believe that everything's in the Bible for a reason. And in chapter 18, you have Sarah. In chapter 19, you have Lot's wife. And there's a lot of comparisons that can be drawn. And so I believe the Bible has that for a reason. Now, let me say this, that when it comes to being a mom, and you know, when it comes to Mother's Day, part of being a good mom is being a good wife. Okay, that's part of the responsibility. If you're married and you have kids, part of being, and it's the same thing with being a father. Okay, part of being a good father is being a good husband. You need to set a good example for your children. Okay, so some of these points could apply to being a good wife, but that also would apply to being a good mom as well. Because we know that at this time, Sarah did not have children. We can still learn a lot here on this Mother's Day. Now notice what it says in Genesis 18, verse 6. Genesis 18, verse 6. And when we think of being a mom, and we think biblically, we think of guiding the house, right? Staying home, taking care of the house, you know, the cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, the diapers, things like that, the traditional roles. That's what we think of. And when it comes to taking care of the house, which is our first point, part of that would be cooking, right? And we see a big difference between Sarah and Lot's wife. Notice what it says in Genesis 18, verse 6. Genesis 18, verse 6. And Abraham hastened into the tent onto Sarah and said, make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. And so Abraham comes in and he says, Sarah, I need you to make this food. Now look, they did not expect guests to come that night, okay? Look, there's not much more frustrating than unexpected guests that are going to be there all night. And it's like, oh man, I got to cook for them and worry about this and this. They don't expect these guests to come. But all of a sudden, food needs to be prepared. And Abraham comes in and he says, Sarah, I need you to make this. Okay, so who does the cooking? Well, Sarah does. You say, what's your point? We'll go to Genesis 19. Genesis 19. Genesis 19, we're comparing Sarah, which is the wife of Abraham, to Lot's wife, which is Lot's wife, okay? The wife of Lot. Genesis 19, verse 1. And there came two angels of Sodom at even, and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. And Lot seeing them, rose up to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground. He said, behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house and tarry all night and wash your feet, and you shall rise up early and go in your ways. And they said, nay, but we will abide in the street all night. And so Lot is really trying to rush these angels into the house because of the fact he knows that the Sodomites are going to want to molest them. Okay, there's wicked people in this town that are going to want to molest them. He says, come in here, come in here quickly, you know, rise up early, get out of here, basically. Verse 3, and he pressed upon them greatly, and they turned in onto him. So the angels come in and entered into his house. Notice this, and he, and he made them a feast and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat. So who does the cooking? Lot or his wife? Lot does the cooking. He makes the feast. He bakes the unleavened bread. One thing we can guarantee, which is a side point, is that the food in Genesis 18 is going to be better than the food in Genesis 19. Right? All the guys can say amen about that. And so basically, we see here that, you know, when when Abraham comes, he goes to Sarah and says, Can you make the food here? Lot makes the food, not his wife. Obviously, that would be kind of against the traditional roles we think of. And look, that's a comparison the Bible's trying to give you. There's a reason why we have these very similar stories, angels coming, and very different results between the wives. That's a comparison we're supposed to draw between these chapters. Now you say, Well, Brother Stuckey, you know, maybe she's working a secular job. Maybe she's not at home. Okay, well, you know, that could be a possibility, but I don't think so. I don't think she does have a secular job. And I'll give you my reasons why here. Now go back to verse number one of Genesis 19. And it says, And there came two angels to Sodom at even two angels coming at 6 p.m. So at 6 p.m. you know, you say, Is she in the house or is she not? Well, give me my reasons why I don't even think she's home at this time. Okay, but at 6 p.m. this is dinner time and it's like, Well, who's going to make the food for the family? Well, I guess Lot will. You know, they probably didn't have microwaves, so I guess Lot's the one cooking the food for him and his wife and his kids. I don't know because Lot's wife is not doing it. At 6 p.m. though, I doubt she was out working because quite honestly, in today's world, a lot of work is on computers, technology, and it can be done any time of day. But during these times, most likely most of those jobs are going to be done while there's sunlight outside, right? From sunrise to sunset. And look, when the sun sets, guess what? You're not really gonna be able to work anymore. That's why even in the Bible times, they'd wake up early in the morning to get stuff done. Think of people that work on farms and things like that. They must use every second of that daylight because they can't at 10 o'clock at night do something. It's done. You don't have time. So they wake up early and so at 6 p.m. when you'd expect the sun to be setting, she's not there. And unless she worked at a job like a casino or a bar, you know, some job which in Sodom is not really a stretch, then look, she doesn't seem to be there. It's like, is she out working? Well, if she is, I don't know what job she's doing at this time at 6 p.m. Okay. And so go back to Genesis 13. Genesis 13. I'll show you something else. I mean, good night. If she is working a job at that time, it could be worse than working at a bar, especially in Sodom and Gomorrah. And, you know, honestly, that is a possibility because, you know, I don't really know what work you'd be doing at 6 p.m. But I'll be honest with you. When it comes to traditional roles that the Bible speaks of, look, I believe we're all aware that the traditional roles and the best situation is the husband works and the wife raises the children. Okay. Now, I understand that at our church and around the world, there's plenty of godly people that they aren't able to do that. Okay. That's not the situation they find themselves in. And that's not what I'm preaching about. That's fine. I understand that. I completely understand that. Here's what I'm saying, though. I don't believe that lost wife needed to work to provide money for that family because they're rich. And I'll prove that to you. Now, here's the thing. If you and your house, everyone is in this room and the people watching the live stream, look, if you were millionaire, if you had 100 million pesos in your bank account or $2 million in your bank account, look, are you going to have just both husband and wife out there working 40, 50 hours or whatever? Probably not. Why? It's not necessary, is it? You've got lots of money. The reason why that, you know, both husbands and wives are working in today's world in most areas is because it's necessary to make money to provide for that family. It's not necessary. It's not possible always for the wife to stay home and raise the kids. That's why oftentimes the wife will work as well. But I want you to realize that if there's families that are really rich. Okay. And honestly, when you look at families that are people that are super rich out there, a lot of times the wives don't work. When you look at these people that are millionaires and billionaires, and they will just stay home and take care of that stuff. And the reason why Lot's wife, I don't believe that she would be working is they don't need her to. They're rich. And I'll prove that to you. Genesis 13, verse five. Genesis 13, verse five. And Lot also which went with Abram had flocks and herds and tents. And the land was not able to bear them that they might dwell together. For their substance was great so that they could not dwell together. Abraham and Lot, why do they separate from one another? They had too much money. Your money was in your flocks and your herds and things like that. And they had too much money. You say, Brother Stuckey, can money be a bad thing? What's a bad thing in Genesis chapter 13? They have too much money and they must separate. Why do they have money? Well, there is a famine in the land and Abraham goes to Egypt. He goes to Egypt and guess what? He gets filthy stinking rich in Egypt. Okay. And what ends up happening because they're rich? Lot and Abraham have to separate and Lot has to go to Sodom and Gomorrah. It comes back to Abraham's choice to leave due to a famine and Lot has to go to Sodom and Gomorrah. And also Hagar comes from Egypt. She was an Egyptian. And of course then Abraham has a child with her later on. So look, money is not necessarily a good thing. But my main point here is this, that Lot was rich. They had too much stuff that they could do all together. Okay, go to verse 10. Not only was Lot rich, but he's going to an area that is a rich area. Verse 10, and Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as a kamasan to Zohar. Lot loves Sodom and Gomorrah because he says it's like the land of Egypt. They're rich. They're wealthy. It's beautiful. This is where I want to live. I don't care about how godly it is. Okay, now go back to Ezekiel chapter 16. Ezekiel chapter 16. So Sodom and Gomorrah was economically great. They were a booming country. They were a wicked country. But you know, they're a booming area. They're a booming location. And let's see what it says in Ezekiel chapter 16. What is my point? My point is this. Lot's wife didn't need to work. When they moved to Sodom and Gomorrah, they were rich. And Sodom and Gomorrah was a rich area. People were doing very well financially. Ezekiel chapter 16. Ezekiel 16 verse 49. Ezekiel 16 verse 49. Ezekiel 16 verse 49. Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom. Pride, fullness of bread, meaning they have lots and lots of food and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughter. So basically Sodom had, you know, lots of food and they're idle because they have everything handed to them. They're a very booming economy. They don't have to work hard to make it. Okay, go back to Genesis 19. Genesis 19. So look, I mean, when he moves to Sodom and Gomorrah, he's rich, and it's a rich area. And so look, she probably wouldn't need to work. And what job would you expect to be doing that late at night? Okay, and quite honestly, during these times, people really did follow traditional roles with families a lot more than today. Oftentimes, or normally, you would expect the wives wouldn't end up working. And part of the reason why is because nowadays we have public school and everybody goes to that. But before when people had big families, people would have eight kids on average. And it's just like, you know, they didn't have washers and all these modern luxuries. Yeah, it was pretty much a full time job, even more so back then to be a stay at home mom. Okay, so it makes sense for her to be a stay at home mom. Okay, I'll be honest, I don't believe she was at home when those angels came. Okay, and I'll give you another reason why here in a second, it doesn't I believe she's probably hanging out with friends at nighttime. Okay, and I want you to understand, but let me actually prove this to you first or show you, then I'll give kind of my commentary on that. Genesis 19 verse eight. Behold, now I have two daughters which have not known man. Let me I pray you bring them out onto you and do you to them as is good in your eyes. Only onto these men do nothing for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. Now I want you to notice here that he mentions his daughters. Okay, there's no mention of his wife in Genesis 19 up until this point. Okay, Genesis 19 verse 12. And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides son-in-law and thy sons and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place. For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxing great before the face of the Lord, and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it. And Lot went out and spake unto his sons-in-law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place, for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons-in-law. Now notice what it says in verse 15. Because before that we saw the mention of the daughters, but not of the wife. Verse 15, And when the morning arose, then the angels hasten Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife and thy two daughters, which are here. So she's there in verse 15, when the morning arises, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. So look, I believe when the angels came at 6 p.m. and I could be wrong, I'm not saying this is 2 plus 2 equals 4, but from the verses it seems to indicate to me that his wife was not home. And if she was not home, I would question though, what was she doing? I mean, was she working a job? Because what job was she going to be doing at that time? There'd be no need for her to work a job. And if she's not doing that, what is she doing? I would say the best guess, and this is my opinion, is she was kind of hanging out with friends. Now I could be wrong on that, the Bible does not specifically say that, but the Bible doesn't give any indication she's home. And I do know that Lot did the cooking when the angels came. I mean, it's not like he said to his wife, Hey, can you do the cooking? And she's like, no, and he, no, he just does it. So either basically she runs their family completely. He does whatever she says, which is possible, or she's just not there. Okay. Now here's, here's what you need to understand. They are husband and wife and they have children. Okay. You have to understand that when you get married and you have kids, your life changes. Okay. When I was a single guy, when I lived in the US, me and my friends would hang out sometime who played basketball to like 10 30 at night till the rec center would close. Then we'd hang out at some fast food place. You know, you work out for a couple hours, you just get this giant thing of pop and just down it right afterwards. And we'd hang out till like midnight, just hanging out, doing whatever and everything like that. But then once you get married, you know, that kind of changes. Okay. There's nothing wrong with, with, you know, people that are single, having a good time, hanging out with friends, fellowshipping. We talked about the Bible and stuff like that. We played sports, we worked out, things like that. But look, when you get married, look, you're not expected to be out at midnight every night away from your family, especially once you have kids. Okay. Now there's a lot of very godly people in this church. We've had a lot of people that have gotten married at this church since this church started and other people that are going to get married. And a lot of you used to hang out late at night together, you know, hang out, talk about the Bible. And that was great. You motivate each other to go soul winning and things like that. But I want you to realize that when you get married and when you have kids, there's a change that's going to take place or should take place in your life. Quite honestly, you should probably be not quite as close to your friends as you were before, because your best friend ought to be the person you're married to. That's the person you're spending time to. Look, when we had the missions trip, I wasn't trying to be, you know, a hermit or rude or not an outgoing person. But quite honestly, we got done with the soul winning. We ate or whatever. It's like, I would rather spend time with my son Zephaniah than with you. I'd rather spend time with my daughter, Christabel, than with you. I'd rather spend time with my wife than you. And I don't mean that to be offensive. I'm just saying that's the way I feel being married and having kids. Okay, so when it came to after the soul winning was done, we had a great time. It's just like, you know what, as I've done on the other mission trips, yeah, I just don't hang out till 12 o'clock at night because it's like I'm married. You know, I just want to spend time with the family. You know, we just had food there, just had a good time and things like that. There's a change that takes place and should take place not only when you're married, but when you have kids. And with Lot's wife, she seems to be God. She seems to not understand this. They don't really seem to have that great of a marriage. And when you see how his daughters react and things like that, you can see that's the case. And so what part of taking care of the home is not just doing the cooking, but just being home in general. And from this story, I just don't see an indication that his wife was really doing a good job. Now, it doesn't say how she did it, you know, how clean the house was and things like that. Just in the back of my mind, I just could look at the difference of Sarah and Lot. And one of them seems to be a godly lady that loves the Lord. And one of them most certainly is not referring to Lot's wife, which we don't know what her name is. Now, go to Genesis 18. Genesis 18. So look, when it comes to guiding the house, as the Bible says, doesn't it make sense to guide the house that you're at the house? Now, I'm not saying that you can't leave, but I'm saying, yeah, when it's night time and it's dark outside, it's like, yeah, you know what? It's probably best to be home. Okay. Is there a possible exception? Yeah. I mean, exceptions can happen. I just don't see it in this story. I understand things can come up and you have to go out or whatever. But from this story, I think the Bible is trying to show us that Lot's wife was probably not home and she didn't really take care of the home. She obviously wasn't doing the cooking, at least in that story. But Sarah, she was someone who took care of the house. Genesis 18 verse six, and Abraham hastened into the tent onto Sarah. So he goes in, food needs to be made, and he knows she's there. Verse nine, and they said onto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold in the tent. Now I would have loved to see that question asked to Lot. And I guess we could figure out in Genesis 19, behold, where's your wife? I have no idea. I believe that would have probably been the answer. Or, oh, you know, she had an errand she had to run. You know, that's probably what he would have said. I don't know. Okay, now Genesis 18. So the first point is this when it comes to being, you know, a good wife, a good mom is quite simply guiding the house, which includes a lot of different things. But with the difference between Sarah and Lot's wife, Sarah seems like she does that pretty well. Lot's wife doesn't seem to. She seems to be seems to be out and about with friends or doing whatever. I don't know. Another aspect of being a good mom. As I said, this ties into being a good wife is to respect your husband. Okay, respecting your husband is part of being a good wife. Genesis 18, notice what it says in verse six. Keep in mind in this story, they were not told that angels would be visiting them. They're not told that they're gonna have to have food cooked and you have guests that are gonna be coming. They're not prepared for it. Okay, but notice verse six, and Abraham hastened into the tent onto Sarah. So he goes quickly in, which is hasten and made and said, make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it and make cakes upon the hearth. Now, look, we don't know what Sarah's doing at this time. I'm sure she's busy, you know, doing, you know, whatever, whether it's doing, you know, the clothes or whatever. But he says, make ready quickly. What he's saying is put aside everything you're working on. I don't care how busy you are. You need to make three measures of fine meal, knead it and make cakes upon their hearth. And then Sarah says, why? Is that what she says? She just does it because she respects her husband. You know, he asked her to do it and she just does it. Okay. Notice verse seven and Abraham ran onto the herd and fetched a calf tender and good and gave it onto a young man and he hated to dress it. So Abraham, basically, he's working on the meat, but he has young men that work for him. So basically finds the calf that he wants. And obviously you have unintended guests. The respectful thing is to have something nice for them, right? And so he finds a good calf and he gives it to the young man. Verse eight. And he took butter and milk and the calf, which he had dressed and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree and they did eat. And they said, I'll know where Sarah, thy wife. And he said, behold in the tents. Now realize they're not using a microwave to cook this food in a couple minutes. Okay, the Bible is going through this story, but this is taking actual time, which means they are setting aside all their distractions to do this. Now, look, in today's world, we're not as busy as they were back then in general. Back then, they're actually working all day long just to provide their needs. So quite honestly, it probably was pretty inconvenient to set aside all distractions and say, we're going to do this, but that's what they have to do. Okay, so we see that Sarah respected her husband, verse 11, verse 11. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. What that means in verse 11 is it's scientifically medically impossible for Sarah to have children. Now we know that she does have a child later on because is anything too hard for the Lord, but it ceased to be with her after the manner of women. She's not able to have kids anymore. Therefore, Sarah laughed within herself, saying, after I am waxed old, shall I have pleasure, my Lord being old also? Now in verse 12, it says she laughs within herself. Okay, so when she hears this, she does not believe it. Okay, now later on, she will believe it, and we don't have time to prove that. But her reaction is she laughs within herself. But I want you to notice what she said. After I am, after I am waxed old, shall I have pleasure, my Lord being old also. Now she's not referring to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, right? Panginohon, Jesus Christ. No, that's not what she's saying. She's referring to her husband like that. Okay, now that doesn't mean she's calling him like the Lord and Savior, but she's saying he's the boss. Basically, that's what that means. Okay, because obviously the husband is the head of the home and in her heart, not something she's saying out loud. She looks at her husband as the authority, as the boss. She respected him in her heart. Okay, so this is not something she's saying for a show, but within herself, she's saying, my Lord being old also. Why? Because she looked at the husband, her husband, Abraham, as the head of the home. Turn to Genesis 19. Let's see how Lot's wife thinks about him. Okay, so Sarah versus Lot's wife when it comes to guiding the house. Well, it looks like Sarah kind of wins that battle. Looks like she does a better job than Lot's wife. I don't really know what Lot's wife did. Probably spent a lot of money on stuff that they didn't need. And then when it comes to respecting her husband, we see that Sarah does respect her husband. Okay, what about Lot's wife? Genesis 19 verse 15. And when the morning arose, then the angels hasten Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife and thy two daughters, which are here, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And so they're told to leave because it's going to be destroyed. Verse 16, and while he lingered. So linger means to kind of wait behind and Lot does not want to leave. He's just kind of like, this city is going to be destroyed. Oh, man. But I love Sodom so much. I love this area. It's well watered. We got everything. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand and upon the hand of his wife and upon the hand of his two daughters. And so basically they grab him by the hand and force him to leave. The Lord being merciful onto him, and they brought him forth and set him without the city. So I want you to see here that God is very merciful to people that are saved. He's very merciful to him, to Lot. Okay, Lot's a believer. He says just Lot, but he certainly didn't live like a very godly person. Okay, but they drag him out. Now notice what it says later on in verse 24. Then the Lord rained Sodom and Gomorrah, rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah, brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven. And he overthrew those cities and all the plain and all the inhabitants of the cities and that which grew upon the ground. But his wife looked back from behind him and she became a pillar of salt. Look, they're given completely clear instructions to leave and his wife just will not go with him. She's just hanging behind. She looks behind. I picture kind of stopping and saying, I want to go back. She doesn't want to go. So Lot says, you know, we got to leave. We got to go. And she just doesn't want to go along with the program. Why? She doesn't really respect her husband very much. Okay. And so, you know, what I think of with this story of Lot's wife is I think of a baby or a young child who throws a fit, right? Like when you have young kids, you tell them to come and then sometimes they just want to refuse. Okay, now my son's a great son, but sometimes he kind of throws a bit of a fit and he just doesn't want to come. You grab him by the arm and he's fighting back and he doesn't want to move. He's just decided, I want to stay here. He doesn't want to listen to mom, doesn't want to listen to dad. That's what I think of with Lot's wife. It's like the city is going to be destroyed. Let's go. And it's like, no, I'm not going to go. And she just stays there to take a stand. Why? She does not respect her husband very much. That's the difference we're seeing between Abraham's wife, Sarah, and Lot's wife, whatever her name is. Now turn to John 10. John chapter 10. Now we only have three points in this sermon. The first one is obviously when it comes to the difference between Sarah versus Lot's wife comes to taking care of the home. Obviously, Sarah did a good job. Lot's wife did not. When it comes to respecting their husband, obviously, Sarah respected her husband. We see that obviously Lot's wife did not respect her husband. But the last thing comes to being a godly person. And look, when it comes to being a good mom, we as Christians need to realize a large part of that is simply being a godly person, loving the Lord, reading the Bible, memorizing the Bible, loving God's word, obeying his commandments, godliness as Christians. That's probably the most important thing to be in a good mom is to love the Lord. Okay. Just show them to love, you know, not just you and your husband, but also God above his commandments and his word. Okay. When it comes to Lot's wife, I don't think she was saved personally. Okay. The Bible doesn't tell us, but here's what I'd say. It's just Lot. There's no real indication his wife is saved. Now she might be, but I want you to understand, we don't know what her name is, and I think there might be a reason why. Notice what it says in John 10, verse 27, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me. Now, look, Jesus is saying he knows his sheep, and what you're going to see is he will always, when it's someone who's saved, he's going to name them. Go to Luke 16. I'll show this to you. Luke 16, Luke chapter 16. I believe the Bible's trying to give us an indication that she was not saved, and I could be wrong because it does not explicitly say that. I'm just trying to draw the conclusions from Genesis 18 and verse 19. You could have a different opinion, but look, after this, I'll show you very clearly whether she's saved or not. She's certainly not a godly person. That's not disputable. Okay. Luke 16, verse 19. There's a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day, and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate full of sores. Now, two people are mentioned in verses 19 and 20 of Luke 16. You've got the rich man, you got Lazarus. Okay. Now, this is not a parable. How do we know it's not a parable? Because the real name is used, Lazarus, and the name Abraham's used. This actually took place. Okay. But notice it just says a certain rich man. You say, why? Because I think it's indicating, well, we know this rich man's not saved, but I think the reason why his name's not given is Jesus says, my sheep hear my voice and I know them. But this is not one of my sheep. This is not someone who believed on Jesus Christ. This is not someone who has eternal life. So in verse 19, it's just a certain rich man. We don't know what the name is. Why? He's not saved. Okay. This is a real person that existed, but he was not saved. Go back to Genesis 19. Genesis 19. I mean, isn't it true that just about everybody's name is named in the Bible when you're telling stories, especially in Genesis, you know, the names of these people are mentioned. I believe it's not mentioned though, because it's trying to highlight she's not saved. And I could be wrong, but I want you to notice verse 26, and I want you to understand what's being said. Genesis 19 verse 26, but his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. Okay. Now there's a reason why she became a pillar of salt. Everything's in the Bible for a reason. You know, I don't know, I haven't checked modern versions, but I'm sure something says a pillar of pepper or something like that. It's meant to say salt for a reason. You say, why? Because we as believers are the salt of the earth. Isn't that what the Bible says? We're meant, what does salt do? Salt preserves food, right? We are meant to preserve the earth. And how do we preserve the earth? Well, part of it's living godly, but part of it is quite simply getting people saved. That's the reason why God doesn't destroy the world now because he wants the gospel to go out to everybody. He's very long suffering. Okay. During the end times, we go through all those years of tribulation, and the whole purpose is because we're the salt of the earth. We're meant to get people saved. Okay. She becomes a pillar of salt, which is a picture of being the salt of the earth. And he might look at that and say, well, see, she became salt because she was meant to be the salt of the earth. Or what I think is Abraham's, not Abraham, Locke kind of looks at her and it's kind of a picture to his mind. You were meant to be the salt of the earth in Sodom and Gomorrah. Okay. So it could just be that that's a picture for basically he's supposed to be the salt of the earth for his family. And look, his wife didn't even get saved in my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong. His daughters maybe they're saved, but the way that they live their lives, the end of Genesis 19, there's not really indication that they're saved. There's nothing that they, they love the Lord. And obviously you can live a sinful life and be saved. I'm not saying that, but there's no real indication in Genesis 19 that just because the husband saved, that does not mean the wife is saved. Just because the wife saved, that doesn't mean the husband saved. Okay. It's an individual thing with salvation and look, there's no real reason to think that law was actually teaching his children the ways of the Lord. Genesis 19 verse 12, but even if she is saved, let me prove to you, she was not very godly because this area is going to be destroyed. And just think in your mind, if we got the message straight from God, that Metro Manila is going to be destroyed in a couple days. And you basically have one and a half days left of soul winning. And then you got to hit the road because it's going to be destroyed. Okay. You know what we're going to be doing for the next 36 hours, one and a half, we're just going to be going soul winning, soul winning, soul winning, soul winning, soul winning, soul winning. And then we're going to hit the road and get out of here. And we're just going to break through the checkpoints and just run away and not care what they say. Hey, this place is going to be destroyed, right? Look, that's basically what's being taken place. They only have a short time left. And at this time you would think living in Sodom and Gomorrah, you think of man, my aunt, my uncle, my grandmother, my sons in law, as we see in the story with Lot. You try to get everybody saved, you could, because you've got one last chance. Okay. Genesis 19 verse 12. And the men said unto Lot, hast thou here any besides son in law and thy sons and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place. For we will destroy this place because the cry of them is waxing great before the face of the Lord. And the Lord hath sent us to destroy it. So he's told everything's going to be destroyed. Notice verse 14 and Lot went out and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters and said, up, get you out of this place for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. So Lot's going out there and preaching the gospel. Is there any indication his wife's out there preaching the gospel, trying to get people saved, trying to rescue them from Sodom and Gomorrah? There's no indication. Now, in my opinion, what I said is that she's probably not home and that he probably did not have a cell phone to message and said, Hey, angels just visited, this place is going to be destroyed. And so look, you know, she probably didn't get the message. But here's my point. If this sort of situation happened in my life, in my wife's life, and angels came and said, this place is going to be destroyed, we would both be going out there trying to get as many people saved as we could. Okay. But in this story, there's no indication that that's what Lot's wife is doing. She's not going out soul winning. She's not trying to rescue anyone. I think because she wasn't there or maybe she's just not a very godly person. Verse 26. So she has no indication she's saved, no desire to help spare her family. And quite honestly, she just has a lack of belief in God's word. She doesn't really believe God's word. Verse 26, but his wife looked back from behind him and she became a pillar of salt. It's like they were told to just go, not to look back, just to flee. Does it really seem like she believes God's word? Look, if the message you got was this, this area is going to be destroyed. Just run and don't look back at all. If we knew that was coming from God's word, guess what we would do? It doesn't matter how curious we are, we would not look back, right? We would just go forward. But her, she doesn't really seem to believe this. Either Lot did a very bad job of relaying the message or she just doesn't really believe God's word. Okay. Genesis 18, Genesis 18. Regardless of whether she saved or not, she certainly isn't a godly person. She certainly loved living in Sodom and Gomorrah because she's hanging back as well as Lot at the beginning, just kind of checking it out. They linger. They don't want to leave. And Genesis 18, what about Sarah? Genesis 18, verse 10. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life, and lo Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. So she's no longer able to have kids. Her first reaction in verse 12 is this. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, after I am waxed old, shall I have pleasure, my Lord being old also? So at first she does not believe. And you say, well, it doesn't seem like she really loves God's word. Well, I want you to understand that when it comes to basically serving God and hearing God's message, quite honestly, all of us from time to time, when we hear something preach and it's against what we think, our first reaction is to reject it. I don't really look down on someone at first who's really questioning something. What I would say is this, that if you've had time to process it and see what the Bible says and you still reject it, that's when the problem takes place. Notice what it says in verse 13. And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child which am old? Is anything too hard for the Lord? This is a rhetorical question. And obviously the answer is no, nothing's too hard for the Lord. At the time appointed, I will return unto thee according to the time of life. And Sarah shall have a son. Turn to Hebrews 11, Hebrews 11. Hebrews 11. So when Sarah first hears this, she doesn't really believe it. She says this is scientifically medically impossible. But I want you to realize, and as I preached recently, I preached a sermon called Wondering versus Pondering, if you remember that sermon. And I talked about Mary. And I showed biblically that Mary a few times doesn't really understand or believe the message at first. But the difference between her and everybody else is when she thought about it, she actually pondered about it. And she actually ends up believing it. And Sarah is the same way. Because notice what it says in Hebrews 11, verse 11. Through faith, also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed and was delivered of a child when she was past age because she judged him faithful who had promised. So Sarah through faith, she did believe the message. She just didn't believe it at first. Turn to Luke 17. We'll look at one last place. Luke 17. So what do we see in this sermon? Well, we saw when it comes to guiding the home, that's part of being a good mom. And we see that Sarah was a keeper at home. Lot's wife doesn't really seem to even be home. When it comes to respecting their husbands, Sarah respected her husband, which that is part of being a good mom because you need to set a good example for your kids. And same as being a good father is being a good husband. But we see that Sarah respected her husband. Lot's wife. There's no real indication she respects her husband at all. Okay. And look, obviously, if we were preaching a sermon versus Abraham versus Lot, we can do that as well. I'm not sitting here saying Lot was the greatest husband in the world. And, you know, his wife was terrible. No, obviously, if he did Abraham versus Lot, maybe we can do that sometime. There's a big difference between them as well. But there's a big difference between their wives as well. Sarah was godly. Lot's wife was not. And that's the last point. Sarah was godly. Okay. She loved God's word, and she does end up believing that message with Lot's wife. I'm not convinced she saved, and I'm certainly convinced whether she's saved or not, she's an ungodly person. She doesn't love the Lord at all. Okay. What does it say in Luke 17? It says, remember Lot's wife. Okay, once again, we don't see the name of this lady, or I don't even know if we should call her a lady, okay, based on her character. But the Bible says, remember Lot's wife. And that's what we're doing in the sermon. We are meant to look back at the life in Genesis chapter 19. And look, here's the truth. When we think of Genesis 19, you never really think of Lot's wife. Okay. You're thinking of Sodom and Gomorrah, and we preach those sermons. Okay. You think of towards the end, what happens with his daughters. But quite honestly, the Bible says we should take some time to remember Lot's wife. So on this Mother's Day, one thing we should remember, all the moms at her church, future moms, or even the husbands should be aware of this message as well, is quite simply this. When it comes to the traditional roles and what the Bible says, part of a mom's job is to guide the home. Now that includes a lot of different things. You could go to Proverbs 31 and look at a whole list of different things. But look, that's a job that's not a part time job. It's a full time job. Okay. When it comes to preparing the meals, cooking food, taking care of the kids, when you're reading Proverbs 31, and it talks about her candle does not go out by night, the indication is she's working hard at night. And it also says she rises while it is yet night, meaning she's preparing the food, you know, for breakfast early in the morning before the sun has risen. Okay. So basically before 6 a.m. is the indication from Proverbs 31. So basically it's a sun up to sundown job, full time job. Okay. Now here's the thing. Husbands have jobs. They're working full time. They're providing for the families and so do wives. Okay. Husbands need to take their job seriously and so do the wives. Okay. So do the moms. Okay. So you need to keep the home number one, but part of being a good mom is to respect your husband. Okay. Part of being a good mom is being a good wife. And that's one thing we see with Lot's wife versus Sarah. And obviously lastly is being a godly person. And I want you to realize when it comes to us being Christians, that is the number one thing you say, Brother Stuck, you know, I'm a woman in this room. I'm never going to preach a sermon. Why? I hope so. Okay. I hope you'll never preach a sermon and you certainly won't be invited here to preach a sermon. Okay. So, but I would say this, that that doesn't mean that, you know, it's not important for you to know what the Bible says though. When it comes to teaching and training your kids, quite honestly, you know, moms need to know the Bible so they can teach their kids. Okay. Dad might not always be around to give those answers. Okay. And oftentimes the kids might come to their mom and say, Mom, you know, what does this mean in the Bible? And it's like, yeah, I'm not saying you're going to know every single answer in the Bible, but look, it's important to know what the Bible says. And you know, when it comes to being a parent, being a mom or dad, obviously we want to show them about the post-trib rapture and, you know, King James only, all the doctrines we believe. But honestly, most of the things we're probably teaching our kids at a young age are just having character, talking about patience, talking about being kind, respectful, being respectful towards adults. Okay. Having a good tongue and not to say foul language and things like that. Those are the things we're teaching kids at a young age. And you know what, quite honestly, you need to be able to go to the Bible, be a godly person to show by example and be able to go to the Bible to show your kids, hey, this is why we do this and don't do this. Because here's the thing, the world is going to say the exact opposite of what I'm saying and what you're going to say at home. You better be able to go back to the Bible and say, well, son or daughter, this is why we do this. Okay. This is why it's wrong for you to take your sister's toy, okay, to rip it from her. Say, why do you have to say that? Because that's what kids do. Okay. You got to teach them those lessons. And so moms, more than anything, you need to know what the Bible says and be a godly person living by example. Let's go to the word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to be here today and help us to apply this message to our lives. Obviously, not all of us in this room are moms, but it doesn't mean that this message is not important for us, God. Help us to remember Lot's wife, and that's a command, a statement God gives not just to moms, but to all of us, all of us that are saved. We need to remember Lot's wife and see the difference between Sarah and Lot's wife, God. Help us to apply this to our lives and bless our church the rest of this day as we go out soul winning and we fellowship together. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
