Kings chapter number 2 my brother James come read for us and we'll go ahead and pass the offering plate 1st Kings chapter number 2 and the Bible reads now the days of David drew nigh that he should die and he sorry and he charged Solomon his son saying I go the way of all the earth be thou strong therefore and show thyself a man and keep the charge of the Lord thy God walk in his ways to keep his statue and his commandment and his judgment and his testimony as it is written in the law of Moses that thou mayest prosper and all that thou doest and whithersoever thou turnest thyself that the Lord may continue his word which he's fake concerning me saying if thy children take heed to their way to walk before me in the truth with all their hearts with all their souls there shall not fail thee said he a man on the throne of Israel moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zoriah did to me and what he did to the two captains of the host of Israel unto Abner the son of Nerer and unto Amasa the son of Jethur whom he slew he shed the blood of war in peace and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins and in his shoes that were on his feet do therefore according to thy wisdom and let not his forehead go down to the grave and eat but show kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the gilt the Gileadite and let them be the those that eat at thy table for so shall they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother and behold thou hast with thee Shemihai the son of Gera a Benjamite of Bihurim which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim but he came down to meet me at Jordan and swear I swear to him by the Lord saying I will not put thee to death with the sword now therefore hold him not guiltless for thou art a wise man and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him but his forehead bring thou down to the grave with blood so David slept with his father's and was buried in the city of David and the days that David reigned over Israel were 40 years seven years reigned he in Hebron and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father and his kingdom was established greatly and Adonai the son of Hagith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon and she said come astile peacefully and he said peacefully he said moreover I have somewhat to stay unto thee and she said say on and he said thou knowest that the kingdom was mine and that all Israel set their faces on me that I should reign how be it the kingdom is turned about and has become my brothers for it was his from the Lord and now I asked one petition of thee deny me not and she said unto him stay on and he said speak I pray thee unto Solomon the king for he will not say thee nay that he give me a bishag the humanite the wife and Bathsheba said well I will speak for thee unto the king Bathsheba therefore went unto King Solomon to speak unto him Brad Nijah and the king rose up to meet her and bowed himself unto her and sat down at his throne and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother and she sat on his right hand then said then she said I desire one small petition of thee I pray thee say me not nay and the king said unto her ask on my mother for I will not say thee nay and she said let a bishag the Shumanite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife and King Solomon answered and said unto his mother and why dost thou ask Abishag the Shumanite for Adonijah ask for him the kingdom also for he is mine elder brother even for him and for Abiathar the priest and for Joab the son of Zoriah then King Solomon swear by the Lord saying God do so to me and more also if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life now therefore as the Lord liveth which hath established me and set me on the throne of David my father and who hath made me in house and promised Adonijah shall be put to death this day and King Solomon sent by the hand of the Niah the son of Jehoiada and fell upon him that he died and unto Abiathar the priest said the king get thee to Anath unto thine own field so thou art worthy of death but I will not at this time put thee to death because thou barest the ark of the Lord God before David my father and because thou hath been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted so Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest under the Lord that he might fulfill the word of the Lord which he spake concerning the house of Eli and Shiloh then tidings came to Joab for Joab had turned after Adonijah through though he turned not after Absalom and Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord and caught hold on the horns of the altar and it was told King Solomon that Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord and behold he is by the altar then Solomon sent the Niah the son of Jehoiada saying go fall upon him and the Niah came unto the tabernacle of the Lord and said unto him thus saith the king come forth and he said nay but I will die here and the Niah brought the King word again saying thus said Joab and thus he answered me and the King said unto him do as he has said and fall upon him and bury him that thou mayest take away the innocent blood which Joab shed from me and from the house of my father and the Lord shall return his blood upon his head own head who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he and slew them with the sword my father David not knowing thereof to wit Abner the son of the host of Israel and Amasa the son of Jethro the host of Judah their blood therefore return upon their head of their blood therefore return upon the head of Joab and upon the head of his feed forever but upon David and upon his feed and upon his house and upon his throne shall there be peace forever from the Lord and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and fell upon him and slew him and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness and the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar and the king sent and called for Shimei and said unto him build thee and house in Jerusalem and dwell there and go not forth then any wither for it shall be that on the day thou goest out and passeth over the Brook of Kidron thou shalt not know for certain that thou shall surely die thy blood shall be upon thine own head and Shimei said unto the king the saying is good as my lord the king hath said so I thy servant so so will thy servant do and Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days and it came to pass at the end of three years that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Akish son of Mahalka king of Gath and they told Shimei saying behold thy servant be in Gath and Shimei arose and saddled his ass and went to Gath to Akish to seek his servant and Shimei went to went and brought his servants from Gath and it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and was come again and the king sent and called for Shimei and said unto him did I not make thee to swear by the Lord and protested unto thee saying no for a certain on the day that thou goest out that thou goest out and walketh abroad with their wither that thou shalt surely die and thou saidest unto me the word that I have heard is good why then hast thou not kept the oath of the Lord and the commandment that I have charged with thee charged thee with the king said moreover to Shimei thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to that thou didst to David my father therefore the Lord shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head and King Solomon shall be blessed and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord forever so the king commanded the Naya the son of Jehoi to which went out and fell upon him that he died and the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon let's pray I'll put this here all right first Kings chapter 2 is where we're going to start out and if you would look over at verse 10 where the Bible read so David slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David in the days that David rained over Israel were 40 years seven years reindeer heme brawn and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father and his kingdom was established greatly so following the reign of David Solomon takes the throne his son the son of Bathsheba and the kingdom is established greatly the Bible says here Solomon what you'll notice about him if you study the character of Solomon in the Bible is that he is a another type of Christ and I use the word another because there are many types of Christ in the Old Testament Solomon being one of them but specifically I think Solomon pictures Christ in the millennium I think if you were to kind of study his reign and obviously there are some pictures of the first coming of Christ in Solomon's life but I think his reign is a type of the millennial reign of Christ and so that's why my sermon this evening is Solomon's reign in light of the millennium Solomon's reign in light of the millennium if you're wondering what is the millennium what do I mean by that the millennium or the millennial reign of Christ or Christ's kingdom is a 1,000 year period that is coming in the future it'll happen after Daniel 70th week which is the final seven years before Christ's kingdom returns revelation chapter 20 refers to this it says basically that the first resurrection lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years so there's coming an era in which Jesus is gonna literally rule the planet it's actually gonna happen it's not something metaphorical or figurative there are people out there who call themselves a millennial meaning they don't even believe that Jesus will actually rule and reign on this earth but the Bible clearly teaches that this will occur one day see we're gonna die and go to heaven but then we'll come back at the Battle of Armageddon when Jesus you know riding the horse etcetera this you know he destroys the New World Order and sets up his kingdom a literal 1,000 year reign of Jesus is coming on this earth towards the end of that 1,000 year period Satan is loosed from hell for a season he deceives people then engages in the Battle of Gog and Magog in which he's destroyed wiped out and then we move into the new heaven a new earth and all of eternity but this sermon is going to explain to you or demonstrate rather that Solomon's reign has several different parallels with the reign of Jesus Christ that there are several parallels between Solomon's reign and Christ's coming reign over this earth is coming Kingdom on this earth head over to first Kings one which should be you know very close to where you're at right now you'll notice the board up here and the reason why I wanted to use this is just so I can kind of give you a broad overview of the points I'm gonna make that way it's all not just mental you can actually see it outlined for you visually so I'm gonna just go ahead and move this real quickly like so everybody can see it a little bit better and I think the room is small enough to where you should be able to see it even in the cheap seats as they say so the first point I wanted to make and we're gonna read some verses in first Kings chapter 1 but the first point I wanted to make is that Solomon's reign is kick-started with a trumpet followed by the destruction of his enemies and we see the same thing with the millennial reign or Christ's kingdom commences through a trumpet followed by the destruction of Christ's enemies and we'll notice this look at verse 38 in first Kings 1 verse 38 where the Bible reads so Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and the Carathites and the Pelethites went down and caused Solomon to ride upon King David's mule and brought him to Gihon and Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle and anointed Solomon and they blew the trumpet and all the people said God save King Solomon Solomon begins his reign with a trumpet sound now think about this try and pay attention here to what I'm about to say Solomon becomes the king during a time period in which Adonijah the son of Hagith who's also the son of David had exalted himself it was a self exaltation into a position of authority so again Solomon becomes king during a time in which Adonijah his half-brother exalted himself into a position of authority David had been unaware of this at the time and it was Solomon who becomes the king during this period like I said in which Adonijah had exalted himself into a seat of authority look at verse 41 and Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard as it as let me back up here and Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating and when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet he said where of is this noise of the city being in an uproar and while he had spake behold Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came and Adonijah said unto him come in for thou art a valiant man and bring his good tidings and Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah barely our Lord King David hath made Solomon king so David makes Solomon king as Adonijah begins the self-appointed reign puts himself in that position but what I want you to notice is Jonathan kind of as a side note here he's being flattered by Adonijah that's why he says come in for thou art a valiant man bringing good tidings he's trying to flatter him it's an insincere comment that he's making to puff him up keep a finger in first Kings one where you're actually put keep a finger first Kings chapter two look at Revelation 11 with me if you would revelation chapter 11 a trumpet sounds signaling the start of Solomon's reign and he displaces Adonijah we see in the end times this is exactly like the start of Jesus Christ's reign the seventh trumpet sounds and Jesus displaces who the Antichrist so Adonijah would be a parallel or maybe a picture of the Antichrist in this particular scenario and Solomon would be a picture of Jesus and you'll notice that in Revelation 11 where I had you turn in verse 15 revelation chapter 11 look at verse 15 where the Bible read and the seventh angel sounded and there were great voices in heaven saying the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ and he shall reign forever and ever you might ask the question what is the exact starting point of Christ's kingdom on this earth I believe it's when the seventh trumpet sounds at that moment the second that the seventh trumpet begins I believe the kingdoms I mean it says it that's what the text says the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ some would ask well is it a actual audible trumpet I really don't that possibly maybe it's it's being blown in heaven or something like that but my point still stands you have a trumpet the seventh trumpet sounding and then you have the reign of Christ beginning well Solomon's reign began with a trumpet and of course we know that Solomon displaced Adonijah just as sure as Jesus displaces the Antichrist go back to 1st Kings 2 if you would 1st Kings chapter 2 so that's the first component when we look at the start of both of these kingdoms is you have a wicked person being displaced the Antichrist and Adonijah you have a trumpet in both scenarios as well which I think is relevant but we also have the destruction of adversaries and this makes me really happy because I know that the reprobate God hitters of this world are gonna get what's coming to them eventually even if it doesn't happen right now and the first guy to get nuked in Solomon's Kingdom is Adonijah and we'll read about it in 1st Kings 2 verse 23 1st Kings chapter 2 verse 23 says then King Solomon swear by the Lord saying God do so to me and more also if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life just to give you some context what he's referring to is when Adonijah had asked to marry Abishag he asked it basically to marry Abishag in order to marry his way to the throne and the thing is by this point he had already been displaced and here he is again trying to weasel his way into authority so that's why Solomon is very upset verse 24 now therefore as the Lord liveth which hath established me and set me on the throne of David my father and who hath made me in house as he promised Adonijah shall be put to death this day and King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and he fell upon him that he died he asked Bathsheba to marry Abishag and that was his way of marrying his you know way into the into authority that's what he was attempting to do that was his method to marry his way into authority after already conceding power Solomon recognizes this attempt at his own exaltation and he takes care of him he slays him that's it he's done there are a couple of other people when James was reading the chapter you might have noticed who also get what's coming to them Joab is slain in 1st Kings 2 verses 30 and 31 what happened with job well Joab was guilty of murder he murdered Amasa and Abner and so he's done right Solomon takes him out Shimei who at one point had cursed David well Solomon told him hey don't leave the city limits he leaves anyway to go chase some servants and so Solomon takes him out as well what does this remind me of well like I said we have the adversaries we have the enemies getting wiped out here at the very beginning of this rain well Jesus Christ himself said and those who believe that Jesus would you know he's all love and rainbows all the time and never gets angry or anything like that they I'm sure have cut this verse out of their Bible but in Luke 19 it says but those mine enemies which would not that I should reign over them bring hither and slay them before me those are the words of Christ that's what Jesus said and when he made that statement I believe what Solomon did during his reign wiping out these adversaries wiping out these enemies is reminiscent of what Jesus Christ said would happen when he sets up his kingdom on this earth that those who would not have him to reign over them are going to be slain they're going to be wiped out evil will be eradicated is the point I'm trying to make the God haters the reprobates I believe those who had taken the mark of the beast in their right hand or forehead they're done when the millennium is when the millennium starts when Jesus sets up his reign his kingdom it's over for them we also know that it doesn't end there the Battle of Armageddon this happens at the tail end of Daniel 70th week when Jesus comes back with us and we get to watch him destroy the Antichrist armies we get to watch him wipe out the New World Order he he destroys he wipes out the Antichrist New World Order that one world government system he's gonna set up on this earth which by the way is really just a counterfeit of Christ's kingdom itself the New World Order the globalist government that the Antichrist will set up as a counterfeit of the millennium in and of itself the beast and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire we know the devil is locked in hell for a period of a thousand years before he's loosed for a season Gog and Magog happens and then he's thrown permanently into the lake of fire but we see that regarding Solomon he takes out Adonijah he takes out Shimei Joab also if you paid attention to the chapter James was reading Abiathar the priest was thrust out of that office which was a fulfillment of a prophecy that had been uttered going all the way back to the time of the sons of Eli and so my point is we see judgment at the beginning of Solomon's reign both kingdoms start with a trumpet sound during the self-appointed reign of an adversary and then you also have the destruction of enemies you have the destruction of adversaries you have these people being wiped out basically you have both Solomon and Christ cleaning house before we really get into the main portion of their reigns respectively and so I wanted to note that on the board so again the purpose of this is just to show you the parallels so you can visualize it for yourself and the first thing I wanted to note on the board is that we've got the trumpet sounds in both instances and enemies being slain so I'm gonna write that here as the first picture we're gonna look at this evening trumpet and then enemy slain you say I can't read that well this is the best I can do for you Solomon will be green Christ's kingdom will be noted in blue we have trumpet slash enemies slain and for those of you watching at home and you can't see the board why you got to come to church if you can't see it but I'm just reiterating my points on there you're not missing much if you can't see the board all right folks at home so don't get too upset about that here's my next point Solomon builds the temple we know that he builds his temple Solomon's temple is what it's often referred to and Jesus actually the Bible says will build a temple for his reign and I believe that during the millennial reign of Christ there will be an actual physical temple in Jerusalem from which Christ will reign and rule over the entire world I won't go to the scriptures but we all know it Solomon built the house of God right everybody knows that that's you know one of the real big distinctions of his reign is that you know one of the distinct aspects I should say of his reign is that he built the house of God what else did he do though we know that the Ark of the Covenant was placed inside that temple where in the holiest of all so the temple of God had an innermost sanctuary which contained the Ark of the Covenant and that Ark of the Covenant obviously that portion of the sanctuary is a figure of heaven itself there is an Ark of the Covenant in heaven there's a throne all those things actually exist in heaven so the temple was an earthly figure of heavenly things but the Ark of the Covenant was a picture of God's presence so that being placed inside the temple of God I think points us to the fact that Jesus who is God obviously that would constitute Jesus would constitute the presence of God he will reign from a temple as well during the millennium look at Zechariah 6 if you would Zechariah chapter 6 as I said the Bible teaches that Jesus will construct a temple for his own reign that's where he's gonna rule the entire planet from and I can't wait for this day I'm very excited for the millennium I'm excited for Jesus Christ to set up his kingdom on this earth and we can see what righteousness actually looks like a righteous government I should say what a righteous government actually looks like it seems that our current government gets more satanic by the day and so I tell you what I'll be welcoming this perfect government when it's finally set up on this earth but I had you turn to Zechariah 6 look at verse 12 this is where I would get this doctrine from it says and speak unto him saying thus speak at the Lord of hosts saying behold the man whose name is the branch and he shall grow up out of his place and he shall build the temple of the Lord some would say well that's talking about Zerubbabel's temple and I would say yeah probably right but see there's a concept called dual fulfillment that you'll note in Scripture which is that sometimes particular portions of your Bible especially dealing with prophecy have multiple fulfillments and so yes the book of Zechariah talks a lot about the temple that will be built following the captivity of Judah for 70 years the Babylonians ruled over them but I also think that we can make an application for the millennial reign of Christ and here we have the branch an obvious reference to Jesus and we see that the building of the temple is attributed to the branch and so it's Jesus who will build this temple I believe that he's gonna rule from himself for the 1,000 year kingdom that he sets up on this earth look at verse 13 even he shall build the temple of the Lord and he shall bear the glory and shall sit and rule upon his throne and it shall be a priest upon his throne and the council of peace shall be between them both Jesus will rule on his throne he will have all authority over the entire planet and he's gonna be a priest upon his throne what does that really mean well that means that he's going to be both priest and King Jesus will be both priest and King that reminds me of Melchizedek who was an Old Testament theophany a fancy theological word for appearance right an appearance of Christ who's who Melchizedek was the temple that you read about described in the book of Ezekiel starting in chapter 40 this is another example in your Bible of dual fulfillment because that temple that's described in the book of Ezekiel is both the temple that gets rebuilt following the captivity of Judah and in some instances it's also pointing to a temple that will be present that will be around that will exist during the reign of Christ himself the Bible tells us this in Ezekiel chapter 43 it talks about the place of Christ's throne in this temple described in the book of Ezekiel go to 1st Kings 4 if you would flip backwards to 1st Kings chapter 4 and for this sermon there will be a lot of flipping back and forth between Old Testament and New Testament sort of a Bible study tonight I you know got some things off my chest in the morning and so we're going to do a Bible study this afternoon Luke chapter 1 says as you turn to 1st Kings chapter 4 and behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son and shall call his name Jesus famous cluster of verses here he shall be great and shall be called the son of the highest and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there shall be no end so Jesus kingdom will never end and the Bible also tells us that Jesus will be given the throne of his father David well that's like Solomon as well Solomon was also given the throne of his father David now I what I really think this is in reference to is the Davidic covenant the promise that was made to King David that his descendants would be kings forever and so that's what I think it's referring to in Luke 1 what it says that he's gonna get the throne of his father David will see the fulfillment of that Davidic covenant again the promise that was made to David that his descendants would be kings for all of eternity that is fulfilled in Christ in that way he receives the throne of David well Solomon also did so that's another parallel that we see between Solomon's reign and Christ's reign and I'm gonna put this on the board just so you can visualize it for yourself so again we've got Solomon building the temple well I'll just start with Jesus first so quick so Jesus builds the temple and sits on David's throne and I'll just say slash David's throne and then we also see the same thing with Solomon he's supposed to be green I forgot so Solomon does the exact same thing he builds a temple as well and he also sits on David's throne and I'll just put slash throne all right but let's move on now to another parallel that we see between Solomon's Kingdom and Christ's coming Kingdom which is this Solomon had authority figures under him well Christ's Kingdom will also feature authority figures under him as well look at 1st Kings where I had you turn chapter 4 and verse 7 1st Kings 4 and verse 7 and notice what the Bible says and Solomon had 12 officers over all Israel which provided vittles for the king and his household each man his month in a year made provision 1st Kings 4 lays out Solomon's cabinet if you want to call it that and we see an outline basically of those who are in authority a portion of his authority structure his cabinet his administration is kind of a modern way that we would describe this are these 12 officers who are over all of Israel it says that they provided vittles for the king what this means is that they provided food for him that's what the vittles is talking about it's talking about food for the king and for his household it says each man his month in a year made provision so these 12 officers are almost like tax collectors and what they do is they provided vittles or food for the king and his household each month now this doesn't mean that they had no work to do for 11 months out of the year but rather I'm sure that for those 11 for the 11 month period in which you know they weren't necessarily giving the food over to the king and his household they were probably gathering it and working hard to provide vittles for the ruler of their kingdom turn to Isaiah chapter 32 if you would Isaiah chapter 32 and when I think of these 12 officers who are over all Israel as it says in 1st Kings chapter 4 I think of what Jesus said in Matthew 19 when he said verily I say unto you that ye which have followed me in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory he also shall sit upon 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel the 12 tribes will very likely have different responsibilities than the 12 officers so not every type or picture or figure is perfect but I think you kind of see the same thing in the sense that you've got 12 officers who have certain responsibilities under Solomon and Jesus says that the disciples will have 12 thrones ruling over a regenerated Israel during Christ's Kingdom and I think that the Apostle Paul is probably the one who replaces Judas when it comes to this 12 disciple sort of lineup that Jesus is referring to in Matthew chapter number 19 here's my theory I think during the millennium what happens is the 12 thrones are the 12 disciples including Paul who rule over Israel and then we rule over other parts of the world so there might be someone in this room who gets to rule over Texas there might be somebody in this room who gets to rule over Florida and the thing you say well what about Babylon I thought Babylon's totally destroyed well Babylon could just be one city which I mean the Bible describes it as a city so maybe it's New York City and you get to rule over Texas while you watch New York City be desolate and burn to a crisp that sounds like a pretty good deal to me but my point is that I think we'll be ruling outside of the land of Israel that nation of Israel outside of Jerusalem and it'll be that particular land of Israel where the 12 disciples rule from 12 thrones over the 12 tribes who are regenerated meaning they're in their glorified bodies and so what this tells me is that there are different levels of authority in Christ's Kingdom just like there were levels different levels of authority in Solomon's Kingdom as well say how are we going to when are we going to find out what exactly our authority is or what that looks like or who will be reigning over during Christ's Kingdom will be ruling in reigning with Jesus when do we get to know what our responsibilities will be well that I believe will occur at the judgment seat of Christ at the judgment seat of Christ Jesus will analyze all the works you've done it'll be determined your works will determine how much authority you have during the millennium and I'm sure that there are going to be certain people who have very little authority and there are going to be others who rule over many different cities that's all going to be determined by your everyday life right now that's what will determine how much you get to rule over during the millennium first Kings 4 says so King Solomon was king over all Israel I had to turn to Isaiah 32 I'm just going to quote this for you it says King Solomon was king over all Israel and these were the princes which he had and it goes on from there naming all the princes we see that same structure regarding Christ's Kingdom look at Isaiah 32 verse 1 what's the structure by the way Solomon's the head of the kingdom he's the ruler and he's got princes under him look at Isaiah 32 it says behold a king shall reign in righteousness and princes shall rule in judgment so we've got a king we've got a ruler we've got someone in authority but we also have princes as well so this king will reign in righteousness who's that referring to none other than Jesus it's talking about Jesus and then princes will rule under him well those would be believers those would be us who are saved and basically if you've done many mighty works for God then you'll be able to rule over many cities during this time period Jesus the Bible tells us will make us kings and priests talks about that in the book of Revelation multiple times we will reign under him on this earth it's going to happen one day and so you have to keep this in mind when you struggle to find motivation to go out soul-winning or if there is ever a time where you you get plagued with laziness and maybe you don't want to get up out of bed and make a soul-winning time or get up out of bed and make it to church on a Sunday morning the work that you do for the Lord matters right now everything is consequential everything has eternal ramifications when it comes to serving God serving the Lord Jesus Christ has very real eternal ramifications meaning that what you do now what you sow now you'll reap later the more you decide to serve God the more all in it the more you decide to say you know what I am all in the more hours that you put in laboring for Christ it's going to pay off later when you're given much authority during his reign look at 2nd Chronicles if you would 2nd Chronicles chapter 9 2nd Chronicles chapter 9 so another parallel that we see I believe is we have a king with princes in Solomon's kingdom and in Christ's kingdom we also have a king who is Jesus with princes who will be the believers and their level of authority is determined by their works so I'll just go ahead and note that here on the board king with princes for Solomon and the same concept exists in Christ's kingdom where there will be a king who is Jesus the king of kings the Lord of Lords and princes as well prince can be synonymous with King basically somebody who's in authority here's my fourth point as we continue this Bible study my fourth point is people sought the wisdom of Solomon during his reign and will also see that people will seek to be taught by Jesus Christ so in other words they'll be seeking the wisdom of Christ during his reign that's another parallel that you'll notice between Solomon's kingdom and Christ's kingdom I had you turn to 2nd Chronicles 9 look at verse 22 2nd Chronicles chapter 9 in verse 22 it says and King Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom and all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom that God had put in his heart you might be familiar with the Queen of Sheba and the story of her traveling to go and see for herself the wisdom of Solomon and and what he would say proving him with questions we see here that the kings of the earth that talks about in 2nd Chronicles chapter 9 sought the presence of Solomon so they can hear his wisdom obviously so that they can acquire knowledge from him and listen to him speak and hear what he has to say Solomon prayed for wisdom God gave it to him as a blessing he didn't pray for riches or anything like that but rather he was lauded by God for praying for wisdom and he was blessed for doing so and God gave him this wisdom and we see that it was just so marvelous in a sense I mean people wanted to go and listen to him speak everybody from all over the world traveled with certain kings I should say traveled to go hear the wisdom of Solomon it says he spake 3,000 Proverbs think of the knowledge and the intellect associated with that claim the amount of intelligence that he had up here meanwhile our president is a demented pervert who can barely string a sentence together it's embarrassing this is the most obvious statement I've ever made in my life but I'd rather have Solomon can we get somebody who's at least like a quarter of the has the quarter of the intelligence that Solomon has that would be great instead we have a brain and of that named Joe Biden turn to Isaiah 2 if you would Isaiah chapter 2 this was a smart guy and his intelligence his intellect attracted the leaders of this earth who traveled to go meet him people wanted to hear what he had to say likely so that they can acquire that knowledge we'll never have that kind of knowledge that Solomon had it was a supernatural thing I believe that God gave him but I think we can still take a principle from this I do want to try and make a few applications as we go along here there seems to be this ideology in Baptist culture where people almost glory in foolishness you know I mean you've heard it before it seems to be popular in the old IFB they think it makes them seem humble when it really doesn't they'll get up and say well I'm just a country bumpkin I can barely understand my Bible I just played a banjo every day and I don't know about one plus one or two I think I don't know it's like that's not what we should be as Christians we should be and you know you want to be a an effective ambassador for Christ seek wisdom sink seek knowledge intellect be someone that is attractive to others in the sense that they want to hear what you have to say you know and that takes study and reading different books and things of that nature and it takes a long time to get there but we should be a people who are known for wisdom people of wisdom I think that's a principle we can get from that obviously Solomon prayed for his wisdom came from God and it was an unbelievable amount of intellect that he had so I'm not I'm not saying that should even be a goal for us because I don't think it's realistic but still the principle is we should be a people of wisdom now Isaiah chapter 2 here's the parallel with Christ's kingdom it says in verse number 2 and it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills and all nations shall flow unto it and many people shall go and say come ye and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord to the house of the God of Jacob and he will teach us of his ways and we will walk in his paths for out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem out of Zion will go forth what the law the law of God will be back when Christ reigns on this earth and we and and the Bible says in Isaiah chapter 2 that people will seek to be taught of God people will be will seek to be taught of the Lord Jesus Christ it says many people shall go and say come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord to the house of the God of Jacob and he will teach us of his ways so in other words they're seeking out Christ's wisdom just as sure as there were people during Solomon's time who sought his wisdom so that's a parallel I think we can observe between Christ's kingdom and Solomon's kingdom so I'm gonna note that on the board Solomon's wisdom was sought during his reign Solomon's wisdom sought past tense because it already happened and then we've got Christ's wisdom which will be sought in the future and that is an infinite amount of wisdom folks you want to talk imagine hey I'm gonna go hang out with Jesus and and and hear him expound the scriptures to me how cool would that be you know I always wish I was on the the walk to Emmaus and listening to him go through the scriptures and and like point out every single portion of the Old Testament that figured him or that was a picture or symbol of Christ what an awesome walk that would have been but we'll get to do something similar in the millennium when we go and see Christ's wisdom so Christ's wisdom will be sought that's a parallel that I think is apparent when you look at both of these kingdoms let's look at the fifth point now that I have for you if you would turn to Isaiah 11 so during before I get into my fifth point during Christ's kingdom Christ's wisdom will be sought people are going to want to learn from him they're gonna want to be taught of Christ just like Solomon's wisdom was sought during his kingdom but here's something for you to take home with you the populace is gonna go to want to hear Christ during his kingdom during his reign so essentially you're gonna have church for a thousand years that's what's going on here look if you don't like church you better start liking it because if you're saved this church is gonna last a thousand years and really going all the way into eternity because the Father will reign it will will dwell with us on the new heaven a new earth so get ready for a thousand years of church my friend man this sermons lasting a really long time you how about a thousand years and you know what it's not gonna be a social club it's not gonna be fantasy football roundtable hour where everybody's talking about the Dallas Cowboys or I guess I'm in Houston my bad Houston Texans but they suck so Dallas frankly you know they're bad too but my point is let's not get going to the NFL now right my point is that look many people are gonna are gonna go to the house of God so they can learn more about Jesus and that ought to be the exact same goal that we have as Bible believing Christians today when we walk through the through that door that we come here and it's not about gossip it's not about you know trying to exalt yourself it's not about looking spiritual it's not about any of those vain things but rather it's about coming here listening to the Word of God being preached and ultimately learning more about Jesus that's what it's all about that's what it's about to learn more about Christ because it's all about Christ it's all about Jesus it always will be and during the millennium it'll be all about Christ as well his wisdom will be sought after and I'm looking forward to that day if I haven't told you already turn to Isaiah chapter 11 here's my fifth point Isaiah chapter 11 is where I'd like you to turn my fifth point is this Solomon's reign will be a time of safety just as the millennium will be also a time of safety security peace as well first Chronicles 22 I'm going to quote this for you it says behold a son shall be born to thee who shall be a man of rest and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about for his name shall be Solomon and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days when Solomon reigned his kingdom enjoyed peace quietness security safety when Christ reigns we will also enjoy with him as we rule and reign with Jesus peace quietness safety security there will be no more wars that we have to worry about armed conflict will be a thing of the past the era of Solomon was known for security that was like this but it was really just a figure of the kingdom that is to come later on which is Christ's kingdom and think of the blessing that's associated with peace and the Bible likens it to a blessing the opposite is also important to note and what I mean by that is a time of incessant warfare is God's judgment on a nation for example when King Asa transgressed and he didn't rely on the Lord get a faith problem what was the judgment that was dulled out toward him it was this thou shalt have wars that's what God said to him thou shalt have wars and I feel like somewhere you know in heaven obviously God said that about America thou shalt have wars thus for the majority of this nation's existence seemingly this country has been entangled in military conflict after military conflict we all know about the military industrial complex we know about all these foreign wars in the Middle East that the United States has stuck its nose in for the benefit of weapons manufacturers and this constant state of warfare characterizes American culture because God's not blessing this nation the ultimate blessing will come during Christ's kingdom where there won't be a military industrial complex they'll just be Jesus and us ruling with him and a time of peace Isaiah 32 tells us and my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation and ensure dwellings and in quiet resting places so the millennium is referenced as a time of peace a peaceable habitation quiet resting we see this word rest associated with Christ's kingdom as well I had you turn to Isaiah 11 well let's look at verse 6 and these are some interesting verses here about the millennium Isaiah 11 verse 6 the Bible reads the wolf also shall dwell with the lamb so we have a wolf literally dwelling with a lamb that is different and the leopard shall lie down with the kid and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together and a little child shall lead them and the cow and the bear shall feed their young one shall lie down together and the lion shall eat straw like the ox and the sucking child shall play on the whole of the asp and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice's den they shall not hurt nor destroy at all my holy mountain for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea and in that day there shall be a root of Jesse which shall stand for an ensign of the people to which shall the Gentiles seek notice and his rest shall be glorious so what do we have going on here wolves dwelling with lambs you've got the cows and the bears feeding lions no longer a carnivore and the asp it said the asp is a snake by the way so that's what it's referring to when it uses that terminology their asp talking about babies playing where snakes are typically found that sounds insane to us right now during this time imagine letting your kids go play in a pit of snakes probably not gonna happen probably we wouldn't work out very well for them but during the millennium it'll be perfectly fine because elements of the curse will be removed during Christ's reign over this earth certain elements of the curse lifted when Jesus reigns on this earth and so we'll see a time of peace unlike anything this planet has ever seen that's what's gonna happen that's what awaits those who are saved those who are alive as Jesus sets up his kingdom but at the end of Isaiah 11 what I really wanted to hone in on is when it says his rest shall be glorious it uses that word rest rest is what the globalists are trying to convince people their government will offer them that's what they're offering hey we need a world government to provide the earth with rest peace security but it's actually going to be a false sense of security when the Antichrist sets up his kingdom that will be a false sense of security but in reality Christ's rule will be when we see true security and true peace on this earth people out there to make themselves feel good talk about how they're striving for world peace well good luck with that it's never gonna happen but if you want world peace Jesus will give it to you through his kingdom so get saved and you can reign with him get saved and you can reign with him I'll note this on the board so we have safety slash peace as an element of both kingdoms we've got safety and peace here in Solomon's kingdom that's what characterized it and we see the same thing regarding Christ's kingdom and by the way there are so many other parallels that I could talk about but I'm just limiting it to six so let's turn back to first Kings chapter 4 if you would first Kings chapter 4 Zechariah 8 if you read that there's a portion of that chapter where it refers to the streets being filled with boys and girls playing it basically what it's trying to convey is that it's gonna be so secure that kids will be playing in the streets and it won't there won't be any anxiety basically attached to that because it's a time of peace the parents will let their kids play in the streets without a care in the world no problems whatsoever and you know what a concept in some neighborhoods that doesn't exist because of the crime rate look at first Kings 4 verse 25 it says in Judah and Israel dwelt safely every man under his vine and under his fig tree from Dan even to Beer Sheba all the days of Solomon if you study the scriptures about Solomon's kingdom and Christ's kingdom you'll notice that I forgot to write this safety and peace oh no I did never mind you've got safety and peace with Christ's kingdom you've also got it with Solomon's kingdom we know that he's a man of rest Christ's kingdom is also connected to that word rest but we also see an interesting phrase that is connected to Solomon's reign it says that Judah and Israel will dwell safely every man under his vine and under his fig tree now that phrase there under his vine under his fig tree is also found in Micah chapter 4 which is about the millennial reign of Christ there's a special significance to this phrase so turn if you would to Micah chapter 4 and we'll look at it Micah chapter 4 and keep in mind that phrase under the vine under the fig tree Solomon's kingdom is an era where Israel will dwell safely under the vine every man under the vine and under the fig tree that same verbiage is used in Micah chapter 4 Micah chapter 4 when you get there look at verse 3 Micah chapter 4 and verse 3 let's look at the usage of that phrase under the vine and fig tree in Micah 4 verse 3 where the Bible reads and he shall judge among many people and rebuke strong nations afar off and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks nation shall not lift up a sword against nation neither shall they learn war anymore side note the anti-gun people I talked about in the morning they'll rip this verse out of context I've seen them do it many times see you know God's anti-gun you're not supposed to defend yourself like you'd study the chapter okay it's about the millennium look at verse 4 but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree and none shall make them afraid for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken it so that same exact verbiage used to describe Christ's kingdom Solomon's kingdom just to recap it's a time of peace men as well under the vine under the fig tree Christ's kingdom a time of peace where people are under the vine under the fig tree they're being protected is the point it's it's in reference to security and and and peace and they're not being any wars anymore Zechariah 3 also uses this verbiage it refers to the iniquity being removed from Israel we know that'll happen I already talked about during this stage when Christ's enemies are slain that's when iniquity is removed from the land as is described in Zechariah chapter 3 and then every man will dwell under his vine under his fig tree because it'll be a time of peace and safety and there won't be any wars anymore let's turn back to first Kings chapter 4 and I'll get into my final point for the evening first Kings chapter 4 so far we've talked about how both kingdoms commenced with a trumpet sound during the time in which an adversary was reigning in Solomon's case it was Adonijah the son of Hagith and David and Christ's kingdom we know that it started with a trumpet the seventh trumpet and the Antichrist was reigning Antichrist was reigning at the time we know that enemies were slain in both cases in Solomon's kingdom here's a parallel that Solomon built the temple of God and sat on David's throne and Jesus according to Zechariah 6 will build a temple that he'll reign from during his kingdom and sit on David's throne according to Luke 1 in reference to the Davidic covenant you've got a king with princes constituting the authority structure of Solomon's kingdom and the Bible also talks about in Isaiah 32 Christ's kingdom featuring him as the ultimate ruler with princes who will be us as believers God will make us kings and priests the Bible says Solomon's wisdom was sought after by the populace during Solomon's kingdom and Christ's kingdom will also feature a time in which his wisdom is sought after and of course it's a time of safety and peace Solomon's kingdom a time of safety and peace men dwelling under the vine and under the fig tree and we see the exact same attribute that is connected to Christ's kingdom as well and here's the final point before I wrap it up here's the final point nations submit to Solomon during his reign and offer him gifts and the exact same thing occurs in Christ's kingdom in that nations will submit to Jesus his authority and also they will offer him gifts as well first Kings chapter 4 says in verse 21 and Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river under the land of the Philistines and under the border of Egypt they brought presents and served Solomon all the days of his life so when Solomon reigned over Israel there were other nations as well that submitted to him and they offered him gifts they were serving him they were in submission to him offering him presents or gifts to the king of Israel from the land of the Philistines the border of Egypt foreshadowing Christ reigning over the entire earth and Christ also being offered gifts during his reign I'll quote this for you in Zechariah 14 it says and the Lord shall be king over all the earth in that day shall there be one Lord in his name one Jesus will reign over this entire planet the Bible tells us in multiple places see right now the god of this world Satan he has his tentacles if you will all over the leadership of this planet every government he's got demons who were controlling the politicians of this world and he's using these politicians as pawns to advance his agenda but eventually when that's wiped out it'll be Jesus reigning over this entire planet and the kings and priests will actually be righteous during his reign and Christ will be at the apex of his own authority structure while the redeemed are also reigning with him under his authority Zechariah chapter 14 also if you were to go read it on your own time you'll notice that it refers to a punishment for those who don't celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles this is further proof that God's law will be implemented during Christ's reign as he rules over the earth that'll be the authority that he's executing is punishing people for not following his law you say well what does that really how is that possible they're gonna be unsafe people during Christ's kingdom all right it'll be those who perhaps didn't get saved and survived the wrath of God but they didn't necessarily take the mark they'll make it in and Christians who got saved during the wrath of God they will make it into the millennium and they'll be having children I'm sure and those kids may or may not choose to accept the gospel so you'll have unsafe people during the millennium but my point is this the Feast of Tabernacles I believe will be celebrated during Christ's Kingdom what is that well the Feast of Tabernacles according to Leviticus 23 is a particular feast that the children of Israel had to partake in that commemorated God's presence when he dwelt with them in the wilderness so supposed to be a celebration or designed to commemorate God's presence dwelling with Israel well obviously Jesus it's God's presence and he'll be dwelling in Jerusalem during his reign so it makes sense for that feast to be celebrated in Zechariah chapter according to Zechariah chapter 14 but my main port the main point that I'm trying to make is this we're gonna rule and reign with Christ and he's gonna rule over the entire planet and also be offered gifts just as Solomon had other nations outside of Israel submitting to him and they offered him gifts look at Psalm 72 if you would and we'll see this outlined Psalm chapter 72 the bottom line is this every knee shall bow every tongue shall confess that Christ is Lord it will happen whether they loved him or hated him in this life it's going to happen this planet will one day finally fully acknowledge the authority of Jesus and he's gonna rule with a rod of iron you see the first coming of Christ Jesus was meek and merciful and he came to this earth to be a sacrifice for us who he died on the cross was buried and rose again to pay the penalty for our sins and it'll be at the third coming if you will where he's not necessarily me but rather he'll be executing judgment and wrath he's gonna rule this entire planet with a rod of iron the Bible talks about a sword coming out of his mouth to smite the enemies Psalm 72 is where I had you turn look at verse 8 Psalm 72 this is another example of dual fulfillment where you can say it's pointing to Solomon but ultimately Christ it says in verse 8 he shall have dominion also from sea to sea and from the river under the ends of the earth verse 9 they that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him and his enemies shall lick the dust these people who hate the Lord who hate God who mocked Jesus well there'll be a time where they lick the dust there'll be a time where all of God's pent-up frustration and anger is finally poured out against them and they're gonna wish that they got saved when they had the opportunity to do so look at verse 10 we see Dominion from sea to sea river under the ends of the earth this applies to King Jesus verse 10 the kings of Tarshish and of the Isles shall bring presents the kings of Sheba and Seba notice shall offer gifts when it brings up these nations it's basically trying to convey that extreme portions of the earth so basically all nations will offer Jesus gifts just as we see that Solomon was offered gifts as well look at verse 11 yay all King shall fall down before him all nations shall serve him Christ will rule over the entire planet and the nations will submit to him just as we saw nations submitting to Solomon and that'll be what I note as the final parallel between these two kingdoms you have nations submitting here in Solomon's reign and offering gifts slash gifts and then we see the exact same verbiage applied to Christ's Kingdom in Psalm 72 where nations submit to him and the idea that Jesus will be reigning over the entire planet is found in multiple scores of scriptures but Psalm 72 does mention the gifts and it makes sense because I believe there's a dual fulfillment in Psalm 72 involving both Solomon and Jesus let's turn if you would to first Kings 10 and we'll be done that'll be the last passage that we look at first Kings chapter 10 and then I'll wrap it up so just as King Solomon received presents and gifts so too will King Jesus just as the surrounding nations had been submitting to Solomon his authority we see the same thing happening with Christ's Kingdom he rules over this entire planet the Bible makes that clear Matthew 12 I'll quote this for you Jesus said this he said the Queen of the South shall rise up in the judgment with this generation and shall condemn it for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon and behold a greater than Solomon is here here's a unifying fact about every type of Christ in the Old Testament Jesus is greater because they're obviously a picture of him they're figuring him and Christ is greater Jesus himself said a greater than Solomon is here when he was incarnated on this earth that was a time in which a greater than Solomon was on the planet was on the earth and it'll happen again when he sets up his kingdom on this earth we missed out on that first incarnation but we get to see is the first coming we missed out on the first coming we get to see the third coming and it's possible that we might see the second coming which is the rapture if the tribulation occurs in our timeline now as much wisdom as Solomon had and I talked a little about how the intellect that he had was such that people traveled to go listen to him speak and learn from him as much wisdom as he had as much intellect and knowledge that he had Queen the Queen of Sheba going to listen to what he had to say hey a greater than Solomon like I said was incarnated on this earth the wisdom of Christ is unimaginable we can't even fathom how much knowledge Jesus has it is infinite it is infinite knowledge his first coming what he was meek he was he was lowly nothing wrong with that but he was meek and lowly and and and came not to condemn the earth but rather to save men from their sins but it'll be at the beginning of his kingdom when he wipes out his enemies when the wrath of God is poured out on this world the planets gonna see another side of Christ the planet will see another side of the God that we worship it'll be his anger it'll be his wrath now praise God for those who were saved we're not gonna see that side of him we're saved we'll be in heaven when God pours out his wrath on this earth and when we come for Christ's kingdom we're not gonna be the ones who were slain it's his enemies that are gonna be to destroy it's his enemies that will be wiped out as he sets up his kingdom for the state we'll get to rule and reign with him praise God for that praise God for the gospel praise God for eternal life praise God that he'll make us kings and priests unto him one day that we get to rule with Jesus over this entire planet let's use that as motivation to say hey we're gonna let's serve God as much as possible let's get many souls saved let's turn many to righteousness let's read our Bibles let's get the sin out of our lives so we can have as much authority as as we possibly can during this time because what we do on this earth matters what we do has eternal ramifications that's the point I'm trying to drill home for you this evening some would say well okay this is kind of cool how do I apply it that's how realize that there's eternity coming in the future it will happen and you don't want to not accomplish as much as you could have and then you know not receive the rewards that you could have gotten for all of eternity think of this life versus eternity it's a vapor it's such a small infinitesimal amount of time compared to all of eternity 1st Kings 10 is where I had you turn look at verse 4 and when the Queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom and the house that he had built and the meat of his table and the sitting of his servants and the attendance of his ministers and their apparel and his cup bearers and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the Lord there was no more spirit in her and she said to the king it was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom how be it I believed not the words until I came and my eyes had seen it and behold the half was not told me thy wisdom and prosperity exceeded the fame which I heard the Queen of Sheba heard through the grapevine of the acts of Solomon and she was impressed enough to travel to see his kingdom and what she says there in verse 7 is I think really powerful she says the half was not told her of his wisdom of his prosperity it exceeds what she had heard it exceeds perhaps the rumors that have been swirling where she dwelt and when she came and saw it firsthand when she was an eyewitness to what Solomon was accomplishing over Israel she said the half was not been told the half has not been told her everything that he was doing in Israel well the same thing applies for us and it applies for Jesus it applies with regard to Christ's kingdom the half has not yet been told what Christ's kingdom is gonna look like the wisdom and the intellect and the knowledge that he's gonna disperse all over the world and this earth will be filled with the knowledge of God the Bible talks about in Hebrews 8 and other places during this kingdom the half has not been told of what we still have yet to witness from this point going on into eternity the half has not been told what Christ's reign will look like yes Solomon's kingdom I think helps us maybe visualize or conceptualize it a little bit but ultimately the half has not been told yet of what Christ's reign on this earth will look like just as the Queen of Sheba's perception of what Solomon's kingdom really was like was ultimately just the tip of the iceberg our perception of the millennium of Christ's reign on this earth is actually just the tip of the iceberg compared to what it will be in reality so as we read the Bible and we look at some of these stories we read and we learn about some of these stories whether it's in the Old Testament or the New Testament you think about the Exodus of the children of Israel and their time in the wilderness and the setting up of the ancient nation of Israel and then you look at you know these miracles of the New Testament the ministry of Christ on this earth the first coming of Christ his earthly ministry we read about all these things and perhaps the thought might enter your mind that says man I feel like we kind of missed out and in a sense we did miss out on those things but we can still read about them we can still read about them but here's my point there's still a lot left for us to experience the half has not yet been told the half has not yet been told about the prosperity that we're going to witness with regard to Christ's kingdom the knowledge the intellect that will go forth and disseminate all over the planet as a result of Christ's kingdom we have so much that we have to look forward to there's so much yet to be revealed there's so much doctrine yet to be revealed there's so much that we have yet to witness and and that ought to give you a little encouragement I gives me encouragement for sure yeah we might have missed out on some of these stories in the sense that we weren't there but we will be there for the rapture we will be there for the millennial reign and we will be there for the new heaven and new earth as we dwell with Jesus and God the Father forever the best part here's what I'm trying to drill in for you this evening as we wrap it up the best part of your personal Christian journey if you will it's still to come the half has not yet been told so here are Solomon's I should say here is or here are some parallels between Solomon's kingdom and Christ's kingdom we have Solomon's reign kick-starting with a trumpet followed by the destruction of adversaries we have Jesus's kingdom Christ's kingdom starting with the seventh trumpet and the destruction of adversaries as well with the Battle of Armageddon and the enemies being slain like it talks about in Luke 19 Solomon builds a temple for his reign and we see the same thing in Zechariah 6 with Jesus building the temple Solomon had authority figures under him Christ's kingdom will feature authority figures under Jesus Solomon sought I should say people sought the wisdom of Solomon during his reign and the same thing will occur with Christ people will seek to learn from Jesus will go up to listen to him teach them doctrine during his reign Solomon's reign was also known as a time of safety and peace the millennium is also known as a time of safety and peace both kingdoms are going to feature a time in which people dwell under the vine and under the fig tree and finally nations submit to Solomon and offer him gifts and the same thing will occur according to Psalm 72 when it comes to Christ's kingdom and that nations the entire planet will submit to him and offer him gifts as well so I think these six points outline for us the parallels between Solomon's kingdom and Christ's kingdom and here's what we can apply to our lives it's this the half has not yet been told what we get to experience the millennial reign all of eternity don't feel like you missed out on too much there's a lot left there's more of this story that we all get to see play out in real time so let's bow our heads for a word of prayer father we thank you for these passages in scripture that outline for us types and pictures and ultimately they give us a figure of what will come in the future and I just pray Lord that you would help us to just look for more of these in the Old Testament we know that there's so many symbols in the Old Testament that point us to Christ and help us to find them also Lord help us to remain consistent and diligent and working hard so that when it's time for us to rule and reign with Christ that we'll have many cities that will have authority over and in Jesus name I pray amen all right so go ahead and pull out your hymnals we'll sing our last song the evening summer four hundred and twelve four hundred and twelve onward Christian soldiers let's start there on the first onward Christian soldiers marching as to war with the cross of Jesus going on before Christ the royal master leads against the flow forward into battle see his banner go
