Amen. 21:54.000 --> 22:06.000 All right, well, last time we were in Titus, chapter number two, if you remember, I went through and kind of outlined sound doctrine, 22:06.000 --> 22:14.000 that the Bible says that we're supposed to have sound doctrine, and it basically turns into a list, 22:14.000 --> 22:22.000 and we're supposed to speak those things as pastors that become sound doctrine, verse number one, 22:22.000 --> 22:29.000 and that the aged men be sober, temperate, sound in the faith and charity and patience, 22:29.000 --> 22:37.000 that the aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as cometh holiness, not false accusers, not given too much wine, 22:37.000 --> 22:43.000 teachers of good things, that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, and to love their children. 22:43.000 --> 22:51.000 That's kind of as far as I got there, and I preached about, you know, it's talking about being, you know, having sound doctrine, 22:51.000 --> 22:57.000 and for the pastor to preach sound doctrine, and then it kind of gives these lists where it's kind of focusing on some things 22:57.000 --> 23:06.000 that the aged men should know, and the aged women should have the specific kind of behavior, 23:06.000 --> 23:15.000 and then it goes into young women, and so tonight we're going to talk about the young women, the young men, and the servants, 23:15.000 --> 23:24.000 and then I'll probably preach a sermon about the rapture next week, the blessed hope, which is a good thing to preach on at least once or twice a year, amen? 23:24.000 --> 23:33.000 So tonight we're going to, number one, we're going to look at the young women, so sound doctrine to the young women, men, and servants. 23:33.000 --> 23:42.000 So number one, or verse number four says that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children. 23:42.000 --> 23:49.000 So it kind of, you know, the aged women springboards into the young women and how they're supposed to teach them. 23:49.000 --> 23:59.000 See, the elder people in the church are supposed to be examples to the other believers and to teach the younger of their gender to be these things, 23:59.000 --> 24:09.000 and, you know, this is delving into things that aren't very popular to be preached these days, so, you know, excuse me as I step on your toes a little bit tonight, 24:09.000 --> 24:20.000 and the aged women and the aged men got it a couple weeks ago a little bit, so, but not just to get onto you, I want to help you and exhort you to do what's right and true in the eyes of God. 24:20.000 --> 24:33.000 So, but the aged women are supposed to teach the young women to be sober. Now, remember being sober, it means to be serious, but it also literally means to be sober. 24:33.000 --> 24:45.000 You know, we're not supposed to be drunkards, you know, we teach the teetotaling lifestyle here at our church, and so drinking and doing drugs and things like that, 24:45.000 --> 24:55.000 smoking marijuana and doing hard drugs, that is not something that you should be getting involved in, and obviously it's unbecoming of a young woman to not be sober. 24:55.000 --> 25:06.000 And so, also it says to love their husbands. So you wouldn't think that that would have to be the case, but it is. I mean, people are selfish, 25:06.000 --> 25:18.000 and a lot of times people being selfish causes them to not, you know, love other people they should love as much as they should love them. 25:18.000 --> 25:28.000 So, it sounds kind of weird to say, well, hey, teach them to love their husbands, but sometimes not everybody's, you know, a lot of people say, oh, I'm in love, you know. 25:28.000 --> 25:37.000 They get this idea that they're in love, but I don't really feel like you can truly love someone until you really get to know them and spend a lot of time with them. 25:37.000 --> 25:44.000 And sometimes people are hard to love, you know. Some of the aspects and attributes of people are hard to love. 25:44.000 --> 25:53.000 You know, you start to, you know, you newlyweds in here, you know that it was like, oh, we're in love, and they carry you through the threshold or whatever on your wedding night, 25:53.000 --> 26:06.000 and everything's all good for like a day or two until they, I always say, leave the toilet seat up or, you know, push the toothpaste from like the very beginning of the toothpaste thing. 26:06.000 --> 26:21.000 And that really drives ladies nuts, I think. Drives me nuts too, but, or not making the bed or, you know, just stuff like that, leaving your undies on the floor or your socks next to the bed, things like that. 26:21.000 --> 26:29.000 And, you know, it's just people, you know, you know, people can be hard to love sometimes, some people harder than others. 26:29.000 --> 26:36.000 But, you know, if you're married to somebody, as a man, you're commanded to love your wife, right? 26:36.000 --> 26:45.000 But the age of women, we're supposed to teach the young women to be sober and to love their husbands and to love their children. 26:45.000 --> 26:50.000 And you would think that that wouldn't be something that you would have to teach somebody. 26:50.000 --> 26:55.000 But, you know, in the last days, the Bible says there's going to be perilous times. 26:55.000 --> 27:04.000 And, you know, there's people, you know, who would have thought that people would murder their own children, but is that loving them? 27:04.000 --> 27:09.000 I mean, I don't think killing someone is showing them love and especially your own children, you know. 27:09.000 --> 27:21.000 So we live in a time where people are literally in the streets with signs showing dead babies that they, you know, they want to kill or babies that they want to kill. 27:21.000 --> 27:29.000 I drove by this billboard in Portland the other day and it was like something about like, you know, love babies or something like that. 27:29.000 --> 27:39.000 The baby had like, it was a giant billboard and it had the baby's eyes were crossed out with two X's and it had all these things about killing babies. 27:39.000 --> 27:41.000 Like that's the society we live in. 27:41.000 --> 27:50.000 That's the sadist that we live among and rub elbows with in grocery stores and stuff, people that would want to murder their own children. 27:50.000 --> 27:59.000 Hey, children should be safe in the womb. Children shouldn't be some political object that you, you know, play feminism with. 27:59.000 --> 28:12.000 And, you know, but today that's kind of, women have been brain defiled into wanting to have careers and chopping their hair off, wearing paints, 28:12.000 --> 28:21.000 and, you know, working alongside their husband, like looking exactly the same as they are and they want to bring home the bacon and all this other stuff. 28:21.000 --> 28:23.000 That's not what the Bible teaches. 28:23.000 --> 28:31.000 And so if you're a Christian woman, that should not be some desire that you have tucked in your heart and if it is, you need to get right with God. 28:31.000 --> 28:35.000 You know, and obviously some people are in a position where they do have to work, some ladies. 28:35.000 --> 28:44.000 And look, you know, hopefully Prince Charming comes along at some point, you know, and you find someone to get married to and they want to have children. 28:44.000 --> 28:50.000 They want to have loads of children. You know, it says to love their children, not child. 28:50.000 --> 28:59.000 You know, God doesn't have a one child policy. I know China used to, but then they found out within a generation that there was nobody for their boys to marry 28:59.000 --> 29:08.000 because they all want to, you know, so they're kidnapping kids from other families or people that hid their daughter's births. 29:08.000 --> 29:14.000 And then, you know, in the black market, like, you know, having a married off, I mean, it's crazy. 29:14.000 --> 29:28.000 But that's the kind of world we live in where, you know, people want to have a 2.5 family, you know, two parents in the home and a half a child or something like it's King Solomon's house or something. 29:28.000 --> 29:37.000 But anyway, the Bible says, so it says here, these are specific instructions for young women to be sober, to love their husband. 29:37.000 --> 29:45.000 You know, and look, you should love your husband more than anyone. It's getting quiet in here. 29:45.000 --> 29:57.000 More than anyone, more than your mommy or your dad or your grandparents, mammy and papa or whatever you call them, your children. 29:57.000 --> 30:06.000 You should love your spouse more than anybody else on this earth. The Bible says, and they twain shall be one flesh. 30:06.000 --> 30:14.000 It didn't say, you know, mother-in-law and daughter are one flesh. It says the husband and wife are one flesh. 30:14.000 --> 30:22.000 So if you have some inordinate affection to somebody else more than your spouse, again, you're not right with God. 30:22.000 --> 30:28.000 You should love your husband more and you should also love your children. They would be second. 30:28.000 --> 30:35.000 Okay. So it's not going to work unless things are the way God designed them to be. 30:35.000 --> 30:44.000 So if you're trying to go outside the plan of God for you, then you're off the beaten path and you're not doing what God has commanded. 30:44.000 --> 30:52.000 So, and here, you know, when you love your children, don't treat them as a burden. Don't act, you know, you're like, oh yeah, I want to have a big family. 30:52.000 --> 30:57.000 And then you have it and you're like, ah, I don't want to have a big family anymore. I want to hide. I want to run. 30:57.000 --> 31:08.000 That shouldn't be your attitude. You know, love your children. Raise them up and love them and teach them to love, you know, their dad. 31:08.000 --> 31:15.000 Teach them to love, you know, their siblings and teach them to love God more importantly than anything else. Right? 31:15.000 --> 31:25.000 So, and don't treat them like these feminists want to treat them or they just flush them down the toilet for an Oscar award. 31:25.000 --> 31:34.000 You know what I mean? And they literally do these things. They literally give up and kill their own children because they want to have a career. 31:34.000 --> 31:40.000 Well, you know, quit being a whore and you won't have to have an abortion as a contraceptive. 31:41.000 --> 31:49.000 I mean, you know, people go, you know, we should have the right to choose. You mean choose to murder your children? 31:49.000 --> 32:01.000 My body, my choice. It's not your body. You say you believe in science, but then you say it's your body. It's not your body. When a woman has a child in her womb, that child is a different body. 32:10.000 --> 32:23.000 They do like a ultrasound or an x-ray. There's gonna be another skeleton in there. There's gonna be that weird looking alien head in the, you know, the, you know what I'm talking about. 32:23.000 --> 32:32.000 And the ultrasound, they kind of look weird, you know, like, ah, they're so cute. Look at their little, you know, heartbeat or whatever. 32:32.000 --> 32:38.000 It's like, yeah, they kind of look like aliens. But anyway, sorry, that's just me. 32:38.000 --> 32:44.000 You know, I love it that there's like a meme going around where it says like, well, what moms do with their babies. 32:44.000 --> 32:52.000 It's like they're like holding them like this, you know, and then it says what dads do when they're along with their babies that are like scrunching the baby's face like this. 32:52.000 --> 32:58.000 That gonna look funny? So true. Anyway, let's look at verse number five. The Bible says, 32:58.000 --> 33:10.000 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 33:10.000 --> 33:17.000 Now, what does it mean to be discreet? Well, it means to be careful and circumspect in one's speech or actions, 33:17.000 --> 33:27.000 especially in order to avoid causing offense or to gain an advantage. You don't want to tell everything to every person. 33:27.000 --> 33:37.000 You don't want to tell your deepest secrets to someone that you just meet. You know, you might not want to tell your deepest secrets to anybody, maybe to God. 33:37.000 --> 33:45.000 You know, there's certain things that you just shouldn't repeat and say. Not everybody needs to know everything that comes into your mind about everything. 33:45.000 --> 33:52.000 And, you know, sometimes people are trying to get information out of you because they want to use it against you. So you got to be careful with that. 33:52.000 --> 34:03.000 So it's telling the young women, the Apostle Paul is telling Titus to preach this stuff to the young women to be discreet. Why? Because they have a tendency to not be discreet sometimes. 34:03.000 --> 34:13.000 It's not, it's, you know, and again, men can be gossips also and tailbearers, but it's more of a, of a thing with women, right? 34:13.000 --> 34:20.000 There's like a show or whatever called Gossip Girls or whatever. It's not, it's not called Gossip Girls because they don't gossip. 34:20.000 --> 34:32.000 You know, I've never watched the show, so don't, don't even say it. I just have heard of it. Okay. But it's just, you know, it just shows you that that's something, you know, and, and for that to be a television show. 34:32.000 --> 34:41.000 You know, I'm sure it's not, it's not teaching you not to gossip. It's not saying you're bad for gossiping, you know, in every episode. God's going to strike you down for repeating that. 34:41.000 --> 34:48.000 You know, that's not what it's probably about. It's probably about girls giving all the juiciest gossip and how they're ruining other people's lives. 34:48.000 --> 34:57.000 And, you know, you got the one that's worse than the other ones and she's playing all of everybody against each other. You know, I mean, that's not how young ladies should be. 34:57.000 --> 35:06.000 And it says chaste. What does chaste mean? It means moral purity concerning the things, you know, only married people should be doing. 35:06.000 --> 35:19.000 So it's, you know, basically being pure in that manner without, you know, getting too much into detail. But it also means without unnecessary ornamentation. 35:19.000 --> 35:28.000 That's the secondary definition to it. It says without unnecessary ornamentation. So what does that mean? 35:28.000 --> 35:40.000 Well, without the braided hair and, you know, not braided hair, but the broided hair, gold, you know, the special, you know, you know, when you get your hair done for your wedding day, 35:40.000 --> 35:51.000 I mean, usually girls are just like, ladies are just like, you know, they get there. They got it all did up. You know, I'm not saying it looks bad. 35:51.000 --> 35:59.000 I'm not very good at this. I'm sorry. But you know what I'm talking about? You know, ladies like to get dolled up sometimes. 35:59.000 --> 36:05.000 And there's, you know, there's I guess there's a time and a place for that. But to have that be who you are. 36:05.000 --> 36:19.000 So like, in this book, we've been talking about how are you personified by that? Is that something that you're known as someone that just, you know, you got to have your makeup put on, or the paint sprayer or something, or let's take it off the spatula or something? 36:19.000 --> 36:30.000 You know, I mean, just like, you don't want to have that. Well, they just have the most expensive clothes, and they have to have the coach purse and the Gucci shoes and whatever. I don't know. 36:30.000 --> 36:39.000 I don't know much about it. But I do know that, you know, ladies should young ladies should just be a little more plain. 36:39.000 --> 36:48.000 I'm not saying where Little House on the Prairie dresses either. Or head coverings and veils or something like that. 36:48.000 --> 36:59.000 I mean, we don't need to be ridiculous about it. But, you know, obviously, it's just not like going all out and trying to look sensual, I guess would be a good word. 36:59.000 --> 37:06.000 Not to have that Jezebel spirit about you. And I know that that's kind of a Pentecostal term or whatever. 37:06.000 --> 37:19.000 But I just what I mean by that when I say that is like someone could be married or someone could be not married, but there's that spirit of they just kind of lure it with a lot of guys or something. 37:19.000 --> 37:25.000 You know what I'm talking about? And when married women do it, it's like it's really bad, you know. 37:25.000 --> 37:31.000 So when married men do it, it's bad too. Don't get me wrong, but we're on the ladies right now, so just hang on. 37:31.000 --> 37:41.000 But, you know, it's just God wants you to be a certain way. Discreet. You don't have to run your mouth all the time. 37:41.000 --> 37:51.000 It's based, you know, morally pure in the things that married people should do. You shouldn't be going outside your marriage or doing things before marriage. 37:51.000 --> 38:02.000 You ought not to be fornicating and things like that. And then it says keepers at home. And I know that this gets parked on a lot, okay. 38:02.000 --> 38:12.000 But it needs to be parked on a lot. Why? Because there's a whole world out there that wants you to be the career woman, like I just said. 38:12.000 --> 38:21.000 They want you to be Rosie the Riveter, you know. Brother Corbin had this little puppet that he got and it was like Rosie the Riveter and he was like beating him up in the sermon or whatever. 38:21.000 --> 38:34.000 I don't know if you guys ever saw that one. It was pretty funny. But there's posters in workplaces, you know, and like women are becoming the bosses and the CEOs of all these companies and stuff. 38:34.000 --> 38:48.000 And it's like, you know, that's not what God called you to be. It says to be keepers at home. What does that mean? Well, a keeper is a person who manages or looks after something or someone. 38:48.000 --> 38:59.000 So your house or your home is the place where you live. So what's the Bible saying here to be keepers at home? To be taking care of or managing your own home. 38:59.000 --> 39:13.000 You know, instead of managing the subway down the street or managing the corporate CEO spot in some highfalutin company like McDonald's or Walmart or even some mom and pop place. 39:14.000 --> 39:26.000 Why don't you manage your home? Why don't you manage the children that you've already had? Why don't you make yourself available to actually have children so that you can manage the home? 39:26.000 --> 39:34.000 And hey, while you're waiting, why don't you practice on what you already need to do? And you know what? Men need a lot of help. In case you didn't realize that. 39:34.000 --> 39:41.000 And if you're married, you realize that your husband, there's a reason why God made the help meet. Because we need a lot of help. 39:41.000 --> 39:49.000 You know, I lost my keys on Sunday night and everybody was helping me find them. And you know what? I didn't want to believe it. 39:49.000 --> 40:01.000 That I actually did it twice. That I locked my keys in my office for the second time. Had to have a locksmith come out. I did the walk of shame and walked in and got my keys. 40:01.000 --> 40:11.000 But I'm glad I found them because those were irreplaceable, some of those keys. But if my wife would have been helping me, no I'm just kidding. 40:11.000 --> 40:23.000 Usually she can find my stuff for me, but if I lock it in an office that's filled with concrete on all sides and steel reinforced doors, then it's just not going to happen. 40:24.000 --> 40:31.000 But we need a lot of help. And so being a keeper at home, what does that mean? Well hey, doing the laundry, doing the dishes, cleaning the house. 40:31.000 --> 40:40.000 If you're managing a place and you're the boss, while the boss is away, you're still managing that home. 40:40.000 --> 40:51.000 And so when your husband comes home, and yeah this is going to sound really misogynistic, but you know, it's not misogynistic, it's just what the Bible teaches. 40:51.000 --> 41:00.000 Keepers at home. They send them off to the sitter or mom and dad take care of them for you while you both go to work. 41:32.000 --> 41:41.000 Well guess what? Who's putting all their influence on that child? It's not you. It's not your husband. It's somebody else. 41:41.000 --> 41:51.000 And hey, maybe your mom is the greatest mom in the world, but is she an independent fundamental Baptist? Well, there's one other person. So, if you never obey your husband, then you probably don't obey God either. 44:24.000 --> 44:37.000 They're mutually, you know, it's something you have to do both. And I know that this, you know, it's just, I'm sure it's just going in one ear and out the other to some people, but this is important. 44:37.000 --> 44:46.000 Maybe you already got this settled in your heart and you do this. No other man is your boss, including work. 47:09.000 --> 47:13.000 If you're married and you have two bosses, that's a freak. 47:13.000 --> 47:16.000 Okay, who's, who are you going to obey more? 47:16.000 --> 47:25.000 You're going to go to work every day and obey what another man says for you to do, and go by their work rules, and go by everything that they say. 47:25.000 --> 47:39.000 They say you clock in here, you come in there, you wear this, you say this, this is your job, and you're willing to obey some other man outside of your home, but when you get home, it's like 50-50. 47:39.000 --> 47:49.000 And look, it goes, you know, husbands, make it available for your wives to stay home. There's plenty of them out there. 49:04.000 --> 49:08.000 And then just, so it wasn't that mean. 49:08.000 --> 49:13.000 He was just like, oh, you know. 49:13.000 --> 49:15.000 He zombied out or whatever. 49:15.000 --> 49:19.000 But anyway, where was I at here? 49:19.000 --> 49:20.000 Did I even get past the first line? 49:28.000 --> 49:32.000 So it's talking about the lifestyle that the wives live that maybe you don't have a believing husband. 49:32.000 --> 49:45.000 Well, if you, you know, follow what God says to follow, then your opportunity to get them saved is going to be a lot better than if you're being a disobedient wife and you're like, hey, why don't you get saved, dummy? 49:45.000 --> 49:46.000 You know what I mean? 49:46.000 --> 49:54.000 So like some people, some ladies, they're just like, you know, just bombard their husbands and they're not ready to hear it, but then you won't even obey them. 49:54.000 --> 50:02.000 You won't even, you know, and look, I'm not saying, look, I personally believe that we're supposed to, you know, obey God rather than men. 50:02.000 --> 50:04.000 So God is number one. 50:04.000 --> 50:07.000 If your husband tells you not to go to church, I don't agree with that. 50:07.000 --> 50:11.000 Maybe he doesn't want you to come to this church, then that's fine. 50:11.000 --> 50:23.000 But if he wants you to go to a, you know, some other church than this one, as long as the pastor's saved and they're actually, you know, a real church, I wouldn't have a problem with that at all. 50:23.000 --> 50:28.000 And I'm sure that's happened in our past as a church. 50:28.000 --> 50:38.000 But, you know, I believe that women should still obey God rather than their husband when it comes to the things of God, okay? 50:38.000 --> 50:45.000 But when you're trying to win them over, you know, I'm talking about like, will you please make me lunch? 50:45.000 --> 50:48.000 No, why don't you make it yourself? You should have went to church with me on Sunday. 50:48.000 --> 50:51.000 I mean, that's not how you want to approach it, okay? 50:51.000 --> 50:54.000 Because those are things to do with the household. 50:54.000 --> 51:04.000 Those are things where the husband is in the realm of authority and there's nothing wrong with you asking, you know, your wife to make you a lunch, you know? 51:05.000 --> 51:10.000 So I just think, you know, that wives should obey their husbands in everything. 51:10.000 --> 51:12.000 That's actually what the Bible says. 51:12.000 --> 51:22.000 So it says, while they behold your chaste conversation, coupled with fear, whose adorning, let it not be that outward adorning of the plating of hair and the wearing of gold or the putting on of apparel. 51:22.000 --> 51:29.000 So that outward adorning, that, you know, getting all dolled up or whatever, but let it be the hidden man of the heart. 51:29.000 --> 51:35.000 And that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God of great price. 51:35.000 --> 51:38.000 Now, think about this for a second. 51:38.000 --> 51:42.000 The hidden man of the heart, what is that? What's that talking about? 51:42.000 --> 51:44.000 It's talking about the new man. 51:44.000 --> 51:50.000 So, you know, it's talking about the new man of the heart that it says it's not corruptible. 51:50.000 --> 51:58.000 When you get saved, you're a new creature in Christ Jesus, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. 51:58.000 --> 52:09.000 So the Bible's talking about here, you know, let your adorning be the hidden man of the heart and that which is not corruptible, even the ornament. 52:09.000 --> 52:27.000 So instead of putting on these outward things to make you look pretty, why don't you put on the hidden man of the heart that can make you look pretty from the outside or from the inside out of a meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God of great price. 52:27.000 --> 52:35.000 So would you say, if you're a lady and you're reading that here, do you think that God wants you to have a meek and quiet spirit? 52:35.000 --> 52:40.000 He does. I mean, it says in the sight of God, that's a great price. 52:40.000 --> 52:45.000 You know, instead of the opposite of that, loud, proud and stubborn, right? 52:45.000 --> 52:53.000 The feminist that won't shut up at the dinner party and overrides everything her husband's saying and argues with him about stuff he says in front. 52:53.000 --> 52:59.000 I mean, look, if you have an unsaved husband, they're never going to get on board if you're like that. 52:59.000 --> 53:03.000 And so be meek and quiet. You want your husband to get saved? 53:03.000 --> 53:11.000 Here, you know, your children are sanctified because of you being saved, but you want your husband to be part of that package. 53:11.000 --> 53:14.000 Well, obey him. That's what it says, right? 53:15.000 --> 53:17.000 So it says in verse 5, 53:29.000 --> 53:35.000 Now it's going to give us an example here of a woman that was in subjection to her own husband. 53:36.000 --> 53:37.000 It says, 53:48.000 --> 53:55.000 So it's talking about the time when Abraham, you know, he had the three visitors. 53:55.000 --> 54:00.000 One was the Lord and the two angels that went to Sodom afterward. 54:00.000 --> 54:06.000 But, I mean, you catch this part of the story and you're like, well, why is it telling us all this detail? 54:06.000 --> 54:12.000 Well, it's telling us that detail because later on Peter's going to quote a part of this story that happens. 54:12.000 --> 54:20.000 It's not even really the main part of the story, but he uses it to teach in the New Testament about how wives should be with their husbands. 54:20.000 --> 54:22.000 Turn to Genesis chapter 18. 54:22.000 --> 54:24.000 Genesis chapter number 18. 54:25.000 --> 54:30.000 The Bible says in Genesis chapter 18, you should have been able to turn that really quickly because it's the first book in the Bible. 54:30.000 --> 54:32.000 Look at verse number 6. 54:43.000 --> 54:52.000 Now, if you back up one verse, Abraham told those visitors that he's trying to give some hospitality to that he was going to make ready this stuff. 54:52.000 --> 54:55.000 And what's he do? He comes and asks his wife to do. 54:55.000 --> 54:57.000 And notice he doesn't say please. 54:59.000 --> 55:02.000 He doesn't say, please, Sarah, will you make this stuff real quick for the visitors? 55:02.000 --> 55:05.000 I didn't even have time to clean the tent up, Abraham. 55:05.000 --> 55:07.000 That's not what she said. 55:09.000 --> 55:11.000 I didn't want company. 55:12.000 --> 55:14.000 You know, she just, what does she do? 55:14.000 --> 55:19.000 She did what she was told to do and she did it with a good heart. 55:20.000 --> 55:23.000 It says, you know, he just said, make ready quickly. 55:23.000 --> 55:25.000 He said, hurry up and get this done. 55:25.000 --> 55:30.000 And then it says, Abraham ran to the herd and fetched the calf tender and good and gave it to a young man. 55:30.000 --> 55:31.000 He hated to dress it. 55:31.000 --> 55:33.000 So Abraham didn't even do anything. 55:33.000 --> 55:35.000 He just said, you do it. 55:35.000 --> 55:39.000 I'm going to tell you guys that I'm going to do it, but then I'm going to have somebody else do it. 55:39.000 --> 55:44.000 It says that he took butter and milk and the calf, which he had dressed, and set it before them. 55:44.000 --> 55:47.000 And he stood by them under the tree and they did eat. 55:47.000 --> 55:49.000 And they said unto him, where is Sarah thy wife? 55:49.000 --> 55:51.000 And he said, behold, in the tent. 55:51.000 --> 55:58.000 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life, and lo Sarah thy wife shall have a son. 55:58.000 --> 56:02.000 And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. 56:02.000 --> 56:09.000 And Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 56:09.000 --> 56:14.000 So she was past the time of life when women can have children. 56:15.000 --> 56:22.000 Therefore, Sarah laughed within herself, saying, after I am waxed old, shall I have pleasure? 56:22.000 --> 56:25.000 My Lord be being old also. 56:25.000 --> 56:30.000 So this is what Peter's referencing to is this little story right here. 56:30.000 --> 56:35.000 And you'll notice that Abraham just told her to hurry up and make some food. 56:35.000 --> 56:37.000 You know, he just burst in the tent. 56:37.000 --> 56:40.000 Get up and make some food right now. We've got to do it quickly. 56:41.000 --> 56:43.000 How many women would actually do that? 56:43.000 --> 56:46.000 You'd be like, make it yourself, you know, and throw it at them or whatever. 56:48.000 --> 56:50.000 Hopefully women in our church wouldn't be like that though. 56:52.000 --> 57:02.000 You know, because this is used as an example of a woman of God who was saved doing that which was right in God's eyes. 57:02.000 --> 57:08.000 Being meek, being quiet. She was so quiet, she didn't even say any of that stuff. That was in her head. 57:08.000 --> 57:14.000 She wasn't even talking out loud but called Abraham Lord in her mind. 57:14.000 --> 57:21.000 That's true obedience there because Abraham didn't even know she had that conversation in her mind. 57:21.000 --> 57:25.000 She's just like speaking out loud in her mind, you know, when you're thinking about stuff. 57:25.000 --> 57:33.000 But Peter zones in on that and says, hey, what about when Sarah, you know, it's not even talking about Sodom and Gomorrah here. 57:33.000 --> 57:43.000 You know, it's just taking this picture in scripture and kind of giving us a glimpse of what it's like for a godly woman to obey her husband. 57:43.000 --> 57:46.000 And then it said, even calling him Lord. 57:46.000 --> 57:57.000 So maybe as young women you need a purpose in your heart to be what God made you to be, not to be a man, become a daughter of Sarah. 57:57.000 --> 58:05.000 Because it says, you know, whose daughters you are as long as you do well and are not afraid with any amazement. 58:05.000 --> 58:08.000 So even as Sarah obeyed Abraham. 58:08.000 --> 58:18.000 So we need to have some more Christian women that are like Sarah who would obey even in her head. 58:18.000 --> 58:26.000 And think that stuff in her heart and her mind because that's how much she reverenced her husband, how much she loved him. 58:26.000 --> 58:32.000 God has not called you to be a feminist, not even a Christian feminist. 58:32.000 --> 58:36.000 And believe me, there's people that would consider themselves Christian feminists. 58:36.000 --> 58:42.000 You know, these people that read the NIV or it takes the gender out of it. 58:42.000 --> 58:46.000 You know, which doesn't surprise me because it was some omni gender that helped translate it. 58:46.000 --> 58:51.000 So, you know, God hasn't called you to be the next CEO of Walmart. 58:51.000 --> 58:59.000 God has not called you to be Rosie the Riveter, the construction worker on the job site telling all the men what to do and trying to outwork them. 58:59.000 --> 59:05.000 Which will never happen, by the way, unless you're some freak of nature woman that's able to do that. 59:05.000 --> 59:07.000 You know, the exception proves the rule. 59:07.000 --> 59:10.000 Women, some women can put men to shame. 59:10.000 --> 59:20.000 And you know what, I would say women probably have more stamina to get through like 24 hour periods where they're like staying up with sick kids. 59:20.000 --> 59:22.000 Beating the family, cleaning. 59:22.000 --> 59:25.000 It's like you get home and you're like, oh man, I'm so tired. 59:25.000 --> 59:28.000 You know, I worked a hard day and rightly so. 59:28.000 --> 59:30.000 But your wives job doesn't stop then. 59:30.000 --> 59:32.000 They're always at home. 59:32.000 --> 59:39.000 If they're keepers at home, they're always at home pretty much unless they're taking, you know, going shopping or taking the kids someplace or whatever. 59:39.000 --> 59:41.000 That's good, you know. 59:41.000 --> 59:44.000 That's what God's called us to do. 59:44.000 --> 59:47.000 We can't have both people doing the same exact job. 59:47.000 --> 59:49.000 It just does not work. 59:49.000 --> 59:51.000 It doesn't function correctly. 59:54.000 --> 59:59.000 So, be called a lady that loves her husband and children. 59:59.000 --> 01:00:04.000 Don't just be, you know, someone that, you know, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. 01:00:04.000 --> 01:00:06.000 It's not degrading at all. 01:00:06.000 --> 01:00:08.000 It's actually one of the greatest jobs that there could be. 01:00:08.000 --> 01:00:15.000 You know, they say that there's a saying that says the, what is it, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world or whatever. 01:00:15.000 --> 01:00:17.000 Obviously, that's not a Bible scripture. 01:00:17.000 --> 01:00:25.000 But it is kind of true in a way because you do spend a lot more time with the children than your husband does in most regards. 01:00:25.000 --> 01:00:28.000 So, you know, and let me say this. 01:00:28.000 --> 01:00:30.000 Submit yourself to your husband. 01:00:30.000 --> 01:00:33.000 Quit running your mouth all the time. 01:00:33.000 --> 01:00:42.000 Because, you know, the Bible talks about here and when it's going to talk about bosses later on, it talks about you not answering back again. 01:00:42.000 --> 01:00:48.000 So, if that's your boss at work and you're not supposed to talk back to him like that, why would you do that to your husband? So, young men, I think that when you become a young man, 01:24:54.000 --> 01:25:01.000 which is like past teens, like probably 20 years on and upward is what I believe, 01:25:01.000 --> 01:25:09.000 you know, put those childish things away from you, start to grow up a little bit, start to take things seriously, 01:25:09.000 --> 01:25:15.000 you know, when all the men are around talking about the Bible, why aren't you talking about the Bible with all the men? 01:25:16.000 --> 01:25:21.000 Why don't you show that you know some doctrine? 01:25:21.000 --> 01:25:27.000 You know, and in sincerity, not because you just happened to read 20 chapters in Isaiah today, 01:25:27.000 --> 01:25:34.000 and you want to show everybody just how learned you are in the Bible, you know, do things for the right reasons, too. 01:25:34.000 --> 01:25:41.000 In Psalm 25 verse 7, it says, Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. 01:25:41.000 --> 01:25:51.000 According to thy mercy, remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord. Remember not the sins of my youth. 01:25:51.000 --> 01:25:56.000 So, what is that saying? Well, youth, the youth have sins. 01:25:56.000 --> 01:26:03.000 And a lot of the sins that the youth do are different than what adults do. 01:26:03.000 --> 01:26:09.000 Turn to 2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 22. 01:26:09.000 --> 01:26:18.000 I'm definitely going to have to put my next point in my next sermon, which is okay because I need some space for that next sermon anyway. 01:26:18.000 --> 01:26:28.000 So, I'm going to finish with just the second point, but I want to kind of show you this verse here when it's pertaining to men. 01:26:28.000 --> 01:26:32.000 You know, we should always be preparing for our next stage in life. 01:26:32.000 --> 01:26:43.000 You know, young women to become wives, you know, and young men to become husbands, and godly wives, and godly husbands, right? 01:26:43.000 --> 01:26:57.000 So, it says, Flee also youthful lusts, but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, and then that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 01:26:57.000 --> 01:27:04.000 So, I was thinking about this and I was like, what would be the lust of the youth? 01:27:04.000 --> 01:27:13.000 And I kind of just started working this list, and if you have anything, I might take a couple from the crowd here, but 01:27:13.000 --> 01:27:23.000 when it's saying flee also youthful lusts, there's things that we would do more in our youth than we would do, you know, as we begin to become an adult. 01:27:23.000 --> 01:27:31.000 So, and I would say this, here's a real broad one, anything that stops us from serving God to the fullest, anything that you're doing as a young person 01:27:31.000 --> 01:27:41.000 that's stopping you from serving God to your fullest, you know, whatever we want, you know, doing whatever we want versus doing whatever you want. 01:27:41.000 --> 01:27:49.000 So, you know, we shouldn't be just constantly thinking about all the things that we want to do all the time, what about pleasing God? 01:27:49.000 --> 01:27:59.000 Should that enter into your mind at some point if you're a young person, or is all you think about is stupid movies, stupid music, you know, just 01:27:59.000 --> 01:28:11.000 young people just have a really slanted and skewed view about things, and when you're a child, you put away from yourself that stuff that is childish. 01:28:11.000 --> 01:28:23.000 When I was 14, yeah I know, I was old, I was a late bloomer, I put all my G.I. Joe's in like a cigar box and cried. Couple tears, it wasn't a lot. 01:28:23.000 --> 01:28:31.000 And I put those G.I. Joe's away and you know what, I never played with them again. It's just like one of those things, you know, when you're a child 01:28:31.000 --> 01:28:43.000 there's things that you did as a child, but when you get older, you got to put those things from you. So, you know, as children we have, you know, as children or teens 01:28:43.000 --> 01:28:53.000 we have a lot of things that we need to kind of just phase out of our life. So, glee, youthful lust, whatever something you did when you were young, 01:28:53.000 --> 01:29:01.000 you know, just put that away from you. Glee away from that and instead follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, and then the call on God out of a pure heart. 01:29:01.000 --> 01:29:12.000 What about not working hard? That's a youthful lust. You know, a lot of kids, they don't want to, you know, you got a bedroom to clean their room and a bedroom to take out the trash. 01:29:12.000 --> 01:29:22.000 You know, clean up the crumbs that you left on the counter after your mom just got done cleaning the whole kitchen. Stuff like that, can I get an amen from the parents out here? Amen. 01:29:22.000 --> 01:29:32.000 So, you know, not working hard. It's really annoying. But you know what, you can't take that into adulthood. You got to learn to be a hard worker and work hard. 01:29:32.000 --> 01:29:44.000 Otherwise you're not going to last very long at any job you work at. Okay? And that can include ladies and men. Nobody wants to have some lazy Facebook housewife 01:29:44.000 --> 01:29:56.000 that doesn't want to watch her kids or love her husband or make them lunch or make them dinner or any of that stuff. You know, you can't say, well, I'm a stay at home wife and then you never do anything for your husband. 01:29:56.000 --> 01:30:08.000 That's lame. That's a youthful lust. You know, you're not going to sit, you shouldn't be sitting there eating bonbons, you know, and just, you know, hey, I'm keeping my Facebook house in order though. 01:30:08.000 --> 01:30:21.000 All my pics, all my glamour shots are in perfect order and, you know, the duck lips and the fish scape or whatever the weird little thing, you know, get rid of that stuff. 01:30:21.000 --> 01:30:33.000 Quit being vain. Nobody needs to see a thousand pictures of selfies of yourself on Facebook. When I see that, I'm like, ah! Crepes me out. How many pics, how many selfies do you need? 01:30:34.000 --> 01:30:44.000 Here's another thing that kids like, that the youthful, another youthful lust that you need to run away from or flee from. Believing everyone. Believing everything. 01:30:44.000 --> 01:30:56.000 You know, kids will, you know, it's good that kids believe easy because that's easier to get them saved, but sometimes kids believe things that aren't true and it's to their hurt. 01:30:56.000 --> 01:31:10.000 You know, start to get a little bit of discernment in your life and realize that not everybody is on your side, not everybody is your friend and you need to take information that comes into your eyes and ears and appropriately analyze that. 01:31:10.000 --> 01:31:20.000 Because the friend that you think is a good friend might not be the best friend that you think they are. But isn't it funny how that's another youthful lust. 01:31:21.000 --> 01:31:30.000 Children and teens want to have friends and, you know, when they become teens, they're like, okay, mom and dad, don't hug me, you know, and they kind of act like that a little bit. 01:31:30.000 --> 01:31:40.000 Don't pull up in your car, you know, park around the block, stuff like that. And they just, all they care about is hanging out with friends. Just want to hang out with friends. 01:31:40.000 --> 01:31:49.000 But you know what, your friends are going to desert you. You're like, not my friends, they're my best friends. Yeah, those ones too. They're going to leave you. They're going to forsake you. 01:31:49.000 --> 01:32:00.000 I don't have anybody that I hang out with from childhood or anything. I might say hi to them on Facebook every once in a while or something, but they probably think I'm a cult leader or something. 01:32:00.000 --> 01:32:09.000 But anyway, don't believe everything and, you know, stop choosing bad friends over your family. That's a youthful lust, you need to get away from that. 01:32:09.000 --> 01:32:17.000 You know, your parents love you and want the best for you and your friends are fleeting. Friendships are fleeting. 01:32:17.000 --> 01:32:26.000 And if you have a really good friend that you have for your whole life, then count yourself blessed because not a lot of people have that. 01:32:26.000 --> 01:32:37.000 So how about being a picky eater? You know, kids a lot of times and children are picky eaters. I don't like that, mommy. I don't like anything that's green or has vegetables on it. 01:32:38.000 --> 01:32:47.000 No vegetables, no corn, no potatoes. Hey, that stuff's good for you. They put it on your plate so you can have a balanced diet. Eat your food. 01:32:47.000 --> 01:32:57.000 You know, as Pastor Anderson said, quit being a spoiled brat and eat your food, right? You can't, you know, and I know kids will probably have cinnamon toast crunch for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. 01:32:57.000 --> 01:33:05.000 But you know, it's not good for you. You'll die. There was like this guy that ate McDonald's every day, I think was it for a year or something. 01:33:05.000 --> 01:33:12.000 It's called Super Size Me. And he literally ate McDonald's every single day and like started to have health problems from it. 01:33:12.000 --> 01:33:23.000 You can't just eat whatever you want all the time and stay healthy. So you need to make sure that you're fleeing those youthful lusts and like eat stuff that's good for you. 01:33:24.000 --> 01:33:33.000 Staying up late. There's another thing that you need to flee from. If you have to get up early, then guess what? You shouldn't stay up late. 01:33:33.000 --> 01:33:44.000 And if you stay up late and get up early, then you're going to pay the piper. You're going to be groggy when you wake up. You're going to need a cup of coffee, you know, and that's if you even wake yourself up. 01:33:44.000 --> 01:33:57.000 A lot of kids can't even wake themselves up. You know, you have to wake, Mom, why didn't you wake me up? Wake yourself up, you brat. Set an alarm clock. Seriously. 01:33:57.000 --> 01:34:06.000 And so you shouldn't be having to wake your adult children up. You shouldn't, you know, Mom, will you call me in the morning to make sure I'm up? 01:34:06.000 --> 01:34:16.000 Get an alarm clock that blasts your eardrums out. Get the supersonic, whatever, Mega 5000. It has a rumble thing in here that rumbles in your pillow. 01:34:16.000 --> 01:34:25.000 Believe me, I've had one. I know what they're like. So you got to wake up. Get up. Flee those youthful lusts to just stay in and sleep because you know what? 01:34:25.000 --> 01:34:35.000 You're not going to turn out to be a good young man if, you know, Mommy has to wake you up. Mommy has to cook you dinner all the time. You know, at some point you need to find a wife. 01:34:36.000 --> 01:34:45.000 And having to be told to do something multiple times is also a youthful lust that we need to get away from. 01:34:45.000 --> 01:34:55.000 Your parents are always having to tell you to do things 50,000 times. Hey, why don't you just start purposing in your heart to actually just do what your parents ask you? 01:34:55.000 --> 01:34:59.000 If you know what your chores are, why do you have to be told every time? 01:34:59.000 --> 01:35:08.000 But when you become a young man, if your boss has to keep telling you to do something over and over and over again, he's going to go like, what's wrong with you? Oh, I forgot. Like, oh, you forgot? Well, you're fired. How about that? 01:35:27.000 --> 01:35:32.000 You know, maybe they won't fire you now. It might hurt your feelings. Because it overtakes a great multitude of people's lives these days. 01:36:34.000 --> 01:36:40.000 And hey, how are you going to raise your children if you're stuck playing, you know, whatever the newest video game is? 01:36:40.000 --> 01:36:44.000 I don't even know what the newest video game is because I don't play video games. 01:36:44.000 --> 01:36:50.000 If I do, it's a very rare occasion.
