WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:15.500
Have faith in God, he watches o'er his own. He cannot fail, he must prevail. Have faith in God, have faith in God.

00:15.500 --> 00:36.000
Have faith in God in your pain and your sorrow. His heart is touched with your grief and despair. Cast all your cares and your burdens upon him, and leave them there, oh, leave them there.

00:36.000 --> 00:57.000
Have faith in God, he's on his throne. Have faith in God, he watches o'er his own. He cannot fail, he must prevail. Have faith in God, have faith in God.

00:57.000 --> 01:14.000
Sweetly, Lord, have we heard thee calling from all o'er me. And we see where the good friends calling lead us to thee.

01:14.000 --> 01:31.000
Good friends of Jesus, that make the path they go. We will call out the steps of Jesus, where, where they go.

01:31.000 --> 01:47.000
Though they lead o'er the cold, dark mountains, seeking his sheep. Lord, along by so cold, bound mountains, help me knowing.

01:47.000 --> 02:04.000
Good friends of Jesus, that make the path they go. We will call out the steps of Jesus, where, where they go.

02:04.000 --> 02:20.000
If they lead through the temple, holy, preaching the word. For in the homes of the poor and lowly, serving the Lord.

02:20.000 --> 02:35.000
Good friends of Jesus, that make the path they go. We will call out the steps of Jesus, where, where they go.

02:35.000 --> 02:53.000
And at last, when on high he sees us, our journey done. We will rest in the steps of Jesus, where, where they go.

02:53.000 --> 03:11.000
Good friends of Jesus, that make the path they go. We will call out the steps of Jesus, where, where they go.

03:12.000 --> 03:27.000
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.

03:27.000 --> 03:43.000
My love was lost, but now I found, was blind, but now I see.

03:43.000 --> 03:58.000
What grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved.

03:58.000 --> 04:13.000
How precious he, that grace of him, he a right first he lead.

04:13.000 --> 04:28.000
The Lord has promised good to me, his word I will say first.

04:28.000 --> 04:43.000
He will my shield and portion me, as long as life endures.

04:43.000 --> 04:58.000
To many dangers, fools and scares, I have already come.

04:58.000 --> 05:21.000
His grace and love, he saved us all. When grace will lead me, when we've been there ten thousand years.

05:21.000 --> 05:45.000
Bright shining as the sun, we know that's days to see God's grace, and when we first begun.

05:45.000 --> 06:02.000
I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus, the rest of me. And wonder how he could love me, my sinner, and give the plea.

06:02.000 --> 06:19.000
Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, is my Savior's love for me.

06:19.000 --> 06:36.000
For me it was in the garden, he prayed on my will but mine. He had no tears for his eye, he's the sun dropped to fly for mine.

06:36.000 --> 06:53.000
Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, is my Savior's love for me.

06:53.000 --> 07:10.000
It is the angels we help, and the king from the world up high. To comfort him in the sorrows, we gore for my soul and mind.

07:10.000 --> 07:27.000
Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, is my Savior's love for me.

07:27.000 --> 07:44.000
He took my sins and my sorrows, he made them his area. He bore the burdens of hell, he had suffered and died alone.

07:44.000 --> 08:02.000
Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, and my song shall ever be. Oh how marvelous, oh how wonderful, is my Savior's love for me.

08:14.000 --> 08:16.000
Thank you.

08:44.000 --> 09:11.000
Good morning everyone and welcome to Steadfast Baptist Church. It's great to see everybody here. If we could find our seats, we will get started with this morning's song service.

09:11.000 --> 09:16.000
And once we found a seat, let's grab a hymnal and we'll go to song number 56 together.

09:23.000 --> 09:29.000
Our first song will be song number 56, When We All Get to Heaven.

09:29.000 --> 09:41.000
Song number 56, sing like you're excited about when we get to heaven. Song number 56, When We All Get to Heaven. Let's all sing that out together.

09:41.000 --> 10:00.000
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, sing his mercy and his grace. In the mansion, bright and blessed, he'll prepare for us a place.

10:00.000 --> 10:19.000
When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that would be. When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory.

10:19.000 --> 10:37.000
While we walk the pilgrim pathway, clouds will overspread the sky. But when traveling, days are over, not a shadow, not a sky.

10:37.000 --> 10:56.000
When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory.

10:56.000 --> 11:14.000
Let us then be true and faithful, trusting, serving every day. Just one glimpse of him in glory will not cause a heart to break.

11:14.000 --> 11:33.000
When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory.

11:33.000 --> 11:52.000
Onward to the prize before us, soon his beauty will behold. Soon the pearly gates will open, we shall tread the streets of gold.

11:52.000 --> 12:11.000
When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory.

12:22.000 --> 12:29.000
Thank you, Lord. We just ask that you help us sing them loudly this morning and just fill us all with your spirit as we hear your word preached.

12:29.000 --> 12:32.000
And we just ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

12:32.000 --> 12:43.000
All right, for our next song, let's go to song number 363.

12:43.000 --> 12:55.000
One of my personal favorites, Wonderful Words of Life, song number 363. Let's all sing that out together.

12:55.000 --> 13:13.000
Sing them over again to me, Wonderful Words of Life. Let me more of their beauty see, Wonderful Words of Life.

13:13.000 --> 13:40.000
Words of life and beauty, Teach me faith and duty, Beautiful words, Wonderful words, Wonderful words of life. Beautiful words, Wonderful words, Wonderful words of life.

13:40.000 --> 13:57.000
Christ the Blessed One gives to all, Wonderful words of life. Sinnerless to the loving call, Wonderful words of life.

13:57.000 --> 14:23.000
Also freely given, wooing us to heaven, Beautiful words, Wonderful words, Wonderful words of life. Beautiful words, Wonderful words, Wonderful words of life.

14:23.000 --> 14:41.000
Sweetly echo the gospel call, Wonderful words of life. Offer pardon and peace to all, Wonderful words of life.

14:41.000 --> 15:07.000
Jesus, Holy Savior, sanctify forever, Beautiful words, Wonderful words, Wonderful words of life. Beautiful words, Wonderful words, Wonderful words of life.

15:07.000 --> 15:12.000
Great job.

15:12.000 --> 15:19.000
Good morning. Thank you so much for coming to Steadfast Baptist Church. If you didn't get a bulletin already and like one, just lift your hands nice and high, we'll get a bulletin to you.

15:19.000 --> 15:35.000
We have our Bible memory passage, Romans 10 verse 20. We're getting really close to completing. If you can quote the entire chapter, Romans 10, you can get a special prize, as well as our kids can get a prize each week at our midweek service if they can memorize the verse of the week.

15:35.000 --> 15:46.000
On the inside we have service times, soul winning times, church stats, a list of several expecting ladies. Please be in prayer for them. Upcoming events, our Mother's Day brunch is going to be May 9th.

15:46.000 --> 15:58.000
And then we have our Red Hot Preaching Conference is a Friends event that's happening in Sacramento, California, May 15th to the 16th. We're having and hosting our conference May 20th to the 24th.

15:58.000 --> 16:09.000
It's the Anti-Azure Conference. If you haven't signed up, I just encourage you on the back, there is a QR code. You can go ahead and register just to give us some kind of an idea of what to anticipate for the event.

16:09.000 --> 16:19.000
But we'll have lots of guest preachers. I'll probably make another video just kind of announcing some stuff. But Wednesday night, we're still going to have our service at 7 p.m.

16:19.000 --> 16:30.000
So I'll be preaching that Wednesday, 7 p.m. And then we're going to have Pastor Aaron Thompson coming and preaching that Thursday. So the next day, the 21st, he's going to be preaching that Thursday, 7 p.m.

16:30.000 --> 16:42.000
Then we have Friday evening, Pastor Stephen Anderson is going to be preaching at 7 p.m. And then we're going to have a Saturday morning service similar to our Sunday morning service at the same time, 1030.

16:42.000 --> 16:55.000
Pastor Dylan Oz from Anchor Baptist Church is going to be preaching for us. And then Sunday morning, we're going to be having Pastor Bruce Mejia, First Works, preach for us our normal regular 1030 service.

16:55.000 --> 17:05.000
And then I'll be preaching again that evening. So that's pretty much kind of what the preaching schedule looks like. We do have other fellowship and fun activities and stuff they'll be doing throughout the week.

17:05.000 --> 17:17.000
Like I said, I'll try to make a video also maybe post in our group and put it in our bulletin so that way you guys can prepare for that. But it should be a lot of fun. Really looking forward to the conference.

17:17.000 --> 17:25.000
There's a soul winning conference in Europe. It's going to be hosted in Germany in June. We have Father's Day, June 21st.

17:25.000 --> 17:35.000
Fiji missions trip is one of our friends, Pastor Kevin Sepulveda over on the other side of the world if you'd like to go over there. We have a soul winning marathon coming up in Mesquite, August 22nd.

17:35.000 --> 17:45.000
Our Barbados missions trip, September 7th through the 12th. We've already been trying to get prepared for this particular event. We had a scouting trip that went out there.

17:45.000 --> 17:55.000
It was very receptive. We have some opportunities potentially to get into schools and stuff. I can't promise anything. We don't know, but it looks like there could be some good opportunities over there.

17:55.000 --> 18:07.000
We already booked some accommodations. So if you can get yourself a flight to go out there and then maybe save a little bit of money for some food, we do have a lot of lodging that's already reserved for people that want to go on the trip.

18:07.000 --> 18:17.000
It's going to be kind of a first come first serve for the most part. I think anybody from our church that really wants to go, and if you don't tell us last minute, you should probably be okay.

18:17.000 --> 18:27.000
If you do want to go on the trip, just buy your flight and just send us your itinerary and we'll mark you down on the sheet as checked in for the event.

18:27.000 --> 18:37.000
Sometimes people are always asking, like, what do I got to do? You know, buy a flight or your flights and then just email them to us with your itinerary and we'll mark you down as confirmed for the trip.

18:37.000 --> 18:47.000
And so looking forward to that as well. Heritage's Lord Conference, October 9th through 11th. We have our Chili Cook Off the 31st and then there's a preaching boot camp in November if you'd like to participate in that.

18:47.000 --> 18:57.000
On the back is our prayer list and then again some QR codes if you'd like to register. You can also register for the Barbados trip on our site here, so that's another great way to do it.

19:03.000 --> 19:11.000
We do have a kind of just spur of the moment pop-up lunch that we're going to do this afternoon. So if you want to stick around, everyone's invited to have lunch with us.

19:11.000 --> 19:21.000
We're kind of having a barbecue potluck and so it should be a lot of fun. Thanks to those who brought some desserts and stuff. I'm sure they'll get destroyed, all right?

19:21.000 --> 19:31.000
But we'll go ahead and sing our Psalm of the Morning, Psalm 150, Psalm 150. It's in our special Psalm binders.

19:41.000 --> 19:53.000
All right, that was Psalm 150. You can also look at page number 20 in your binder, Psalm 150. Let's all sing that out together.

20:11.000 --> 20:38.000
Praise him according to his excellence and greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet. Praise him with love, psaltery and heart. Praise him with the pinpril and dance. Praise him with strength, instruments and organs.

20:38.000 --> 21:06.000
Praise him upon the loud cymbals. Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let everything that at breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Praise God the Father. Praise God the Son.

21:06.000 --> 21:18.000
Praise God the Holy Ghost. Praise God in free person.

21:18.000 --> 21:29.000
Great job everybody. Now as the offering plates are being passed around, go ahead and open your Bibles to the book of Mark, chapter number seven. That's Mark chapter number seven.

22:06.000 --> 22:32.000
Mark seven, the Bible reads, Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.

22:32.000 --> 22:45.000
And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with the file, that is to say with unwashing hands, they found fault. For the Pharisees and all the Jews, except they wash their hands off, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.

22:45.000 --> 22:57.000
And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups and pots, brazen vessels, and of tables.

22:57.000 --> 23:15.000
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples, according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashing hands? He answered and sent it to them, Well hath the psias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

23:15.000 --> 23:29.000
How be it in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men as the washing of pots and cups, and many other such like things ye do.

23:29.000 --> 23:36.000
And he said unto them, Fool well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

23:36.000 --> 23:43.000
For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother, and whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

23:43.000 --> 23:54.000
But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corbin, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever, thou mightest be profited by me, he shall be free.

23:55.000 --> 24:03.000
And he suffered him no more to do aught for his father or his mother, making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered.

24:03.000 --> 24:17.000
And many such like things do ye. And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Harken unto me every one of you, and understand, there is nothing from without a man that entering into him can defile him, but the things which come out of him.

24:18.000 --> 24:23.000
Those are they that defile the man. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

24:23.000 --> 24:32.000
And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable, and he sayeth unto them, Are ye so without understanding also?

24:32.000 --> 24:38.000
Do ye not perceive that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him?

24:38.000 --> 24:46.000
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats.

24:46.000 --> 24:50.000
And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

24:50.000 --> 25:04.000
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

25:04.000 --> 25:08.000
All these evil things come from within and defile the man.

25:08.000 --> 25:16.000
And from thence he arose and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into a house, and would have no man know it, but he could not be hid.

25:16.000 --> 25:30.000
For a certain woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet, the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by nation, and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

25:30.000 --> 25:38.000
But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled, for it is not meat to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.

25:38.000 --> 25:44.000
And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord, yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

25:44.000 --> 25:49.000
And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way, the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

25:49.000 --> 25:55.000
And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

25:55.000 --> 26:03.000
And again departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

26:03.000 --> 26:10.000
And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech, and they beseech him to put his hand upon it.

26:10.000 --> 26:23.000
And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue, and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, A patha, that is, be opened.

26:23.000 --> 26:31.000
And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain, and he charged them that they should tell no man.

26:31.000 --> 26:39.000
But the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it, and were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well.

26:39.000 --> 26:42.000
He maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

26:42.000 --> 26:44.000
Let's bow our heads for a word of prayer.

26:44.000 --> 26:48.000
Father in heaven, we thank you, Lord God, for this day and for this church service.

26:48.000 --> 27:07.000
I pray that you fill Pastor Shelley with your spirit, and help him to preach the message that you've laid on his heart with boldness, with clarity of mind, minimize distractions in the room, help us to pay close attention to the message, give us ears to hear, and soften hearts in the room, so that we can apply this sermon to our lives, and be more complete Christians.

27:07.000 --> 27:10.000
And I ask for these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

27:10.000 --> 27:11.000
Amen.

27:11.000 --> 27:14.000
I want to start my sermon here in Mark chapter 7 verse 5.

27:14.000 --> 27:25.000
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?

27:25.000 --> 27:35.000
And he answered and said to them, Well, Aszias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

27:35.000 --> 27:42.000
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

27:42.000 --> 27:52.000
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men as the washing of pots and cups and many other such like things ye do.

27:52.000 --> 27:59.000
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

28:00.000 --> 28:14.000
So I'm kind of pausing here in the middle of this rebuke from the Lord Jesus Christ, but to teach the important principle that we should elevate the Bible or God's word or God's commands over tradition.

28:14.000 --> 28:22.000
And he doesn't say here, Jesus Christ doesn't say here that they screwed up the tradition.

28:22.000 --> 28:27.000
He doesn't say that they aren't observing the tradition correctly.

28:27.000 --> 28:31.000
He's saying that y'all's tradition is just going against the Bible.

28:31.000 --> 28:40.000
Because if you look specifically, you know, in this text, there's no indication that the tradition isn't been historically the same thing for a while.

28:40.000 --> 28:46.000
I mean, in verse five, it's the tradition of the elders and verse number seven.

28:46.000 --> 28:56.000
Jesus is saying teaching for doctrines the commandments of men, kind of alluding that what they're teaching are things men have been teaching for a really long time.

28:56.000 --> 28:59.000
He says in verse number eight, hold the tradition of men.

28:59.000 --> 29:03.000
Jesus admits and agrees with their rhetoric.

29:03.000 --> 29:05.000
Yeah, this is the tradition of men.

29:05.000 --> 29:09.000
He doesn't say that this tradition doesn't exist.

29:09.000 --> 29:12.000
He doesn't say that this isn't something that hasn't been happening for a long time.

29:12.000 --> 29:18.000
He agrees and just go ahead and acquiesce with the fact, hey, this is tradition.

29:18.000 --> 29:20.000
This is a legit tradition.

29:20.000 --> 29:22.000
But the problem is the tradition is wrong.

29:22.000 --> 29:27.000
The problem is, is that the word of God conflicts with your tradition.

29:27.000 --> 29:30.000
And so it's not the tradition that matters.

29:30.000 --> 29:34.000
It's just whatever God commanded is God's word that actually matters.

29:34.000 --> 29:39.000
And he's saying in verse nine that they have to reject the commandment of God.

29:39.000 --> 29:43.000
Why? So that they can keep their own tradition.

29:43.000 --> 29:49.000
So in order to stay on this course, in order to have this particular tradition, they have to do something.

29:49.000 --> 29:51.000
They have to stop believing the Bible.

29:51.000 --> 29:52.000
They can't use the Bible.

29:52.000 --> 29:55.000
They have to ignore the Bible specifically.

29:55.000 --> 30:09.000
Now, this particular idea that's being attributed to the Pharisees and the Sadducees and the scribes of Jesus Christ's day is very similar to what we have in our world today.

30:09.000 --> 30:14.000
And the scribes and the Pharisees would simply be the Catholic and the Orthodox.

30:15.000 --> 30:25.000
The Catholic and the Orthodox fit this particular idea very similarly to what Jesus is rebuking about the Pharisees and the Sadducees specifically.

30:25.000 --> 30:28.000
And, you know, I've talked a lot about the Catholic Church.

30:28.000 --> 30:32.000
I preach all sermons against the Catholic Church, but I've never really focused on the Orthodox.

30:32.000 --> 30:37.000
But this morning, that's what I'm going to do is I'm going to preach an entire sermon on the Orthodox being exposed.

30:37.000 --> 30:46.000
Now, the Orthodox Church is very similar to the Catholic Church in a lot of ways, especially to those who are looking from the outside in.

30:46.000 --> 30:51.000
You know, if you're a Catholic, you might think that the Orthodox is very different.

30:51.000 --> 30:53.000
If you're Orthodox, you might think the Catholic is very different.

30:53.000 --> 30:59.000
But to those outside of both of these particular cults, you would think that they're very similar.

30:59.000 --> 31:01.000
OK, and they have a lot of overlaps.

31:01.000 --> 31:02.000
They do have some differences.

31:02.000 --> 31:04.000
We're going to talk about that a little bit this morning.

31:04.000 --> 31:09.000
Now, again, I'm not I've never visited an Orthodox Church service.

31:09.000 --> 31:14.000
I guess I guess I have visited an Orthodox Church, but I've never been to an Orthodox service.

31:14.000 --> 31:19.000
So a lot of what I've researched and looked up is just kind of the general consensus.

31:19.000 --> 31:25.000
Anytime you talk about a large group of people like this, obviously, it's going to be nuances, differences, variations.

31:25.000 --> 31:27.000
Obviously, people to talk about Baptist.

31:27.000 --> 31:30.000
We know there's a lot of differences between even Baptist churches.

31:30.000 --> 31:37.000
OK, so a lot of this is just generally the understanding of what the Orthodox Church is like.

31:37.000 --> 31:41.000
But specifically, Orthodox really elevate tradition.

31:41.000 --> 31:42.000
That's very, very important to them.

31:42.000 --> 31:47.000
I want to go to Colossians, chapter number two, if you would go to Colossians, chapter number two.

31:47.000 --> 31:52.000
And I want to just try to give a little bit of a history lesson along with a lot of Bible this morning.

31:52.000 --> 31:59.000
But hopefully we can kind of all catch up.

31:59.000 --> 32:06.000
I think most people, including myself, don't really know much about the history of these particular organizations.

32:06.000 --> 32:11.000
And so I try to do my best to research it, to understand it.

32:11.000 --> 32:21.000
But essentially, when we talk about the Orthodox Church and we talk about the difference between them, Catholic and let's just clump, everybody else is Protestant.

32:21.000 --> 32:27.000
And I get some people get really offended if I say that we're in the Protestant group.

32:27.000 --> 32:33.000
But to the world we are, OK, regardless of how we feel about it, that's just how the world would label us.

32:33.000 --> 32:36.000
So for sake of argument, I'm just putting us in that category.

32:36.000 --> 32:39.000
OK, some people get really, really mad about that.

32:39.000 --> 32:40.000
And you can just stay mad.

32:40.000 --> 32:41.000
All right.

32:41.000 --> 32:50.000
But just for sake of simplicity, it's kind of like Orthodox, kind of Catholic and kind of Protestant is three big buckets that we can kind of look at.

32:50.000 --> 32:54.000
When we look at these particular buckets, why where does this Orthodox come from?

32:54.000 --> 32:55.000
Where does the Catholic come from?

32:55.000 --> 32:58.000
And where does the Protestant come from in general?

32:58.000 --> 33:05.000
Well, according to Orthodox understanding, so we're just we're just basically thinking how how do they look at it?

33:05.000 --> 33:14.000
They believe that there's kind of like five legit starts of the church and they call it the Pentarchy or the Pentarchy.

33:14.000 --> 33:24.000
OK, and they basically say, you know, we had five apostles go out and basically plant churches in like five different regions at the time of the apostles.

33:24.000 --> 33:33.000
So the acts of the apostles, they basically have five going out and they'll say number they'll say like number one.

33:33.000 --> 33:38.000
Is Antioch, OK?

33:38.000 --> 33:42.000
Which I mean, yeah, I mean, the church at Antioch is a legit church.

33:42.000 --> 33:43.000
It's in the Book of Acts.

33:43.000 --> 33:46.000
It's kind of one of the first places where they're called Christians.

33:46.000 --> 33:49.000
So, yeah, they're just kind of saying like this is kind of one of the first starts.

33:49.000 --> 33:59.000
Obviously, another one would be Jerusalem itself, where we have the apostles mostly held up.

33:59.000 --> 34:11.000
They also want to say that there's another origin, essentially, would you be Alexandria?

34:11.000 --> 34:15.000
And they say this is from Mark, the evangelist, St. Mark, the evangelist.

34:15.000 --> 34:17.000
I don't really know much about that.

34:17.000 --> 34:26.000
The Bible doesn't really mention much about any of the area of Africa or Egypt that much in the Book of Acts.

34:26.000 --> 34:30.000
It's very limited information that we have about that kind of the part of the world.

34:30.000 --> 34:31.000
But obviously, the gospel spread everywhere.

34:31.000 --> 34:38.000
So, you know, we understand that just because the Bible didn't record everything that happened, you know, that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

34:38.000 --> 34:52.000
OK, so Alexandria is another place that they say then they say Constantinople is number four.

34:52.000 --> 34:57.000
And then number five would be, of course, Rome.

34:57.000 --> 34:58.000
All right.

34:58.000 --> 35:01.000
And I'm not saying I'm just putting these in a number list.

35:01.000 --> 35:04.000
It's not the numbers are irrelevant to our discussion.

35:04.000 --> 35:12.000
We're just saying they have these five and they say these are the five origins where virtually all of the orthodox churches are coming from.

35:12.000 --> 35:17.000
And the Catholics would basically, for the most part, agree with this type of a timeline.

35:17.000 --> 35:30.000
OK, now, essentially what they're they're saying is he kind of had like, oh, we have these five major centers in the time first century where churches are being spawned out of.

35:30.000 --> 35:34.000
And that's where we get this beginning of church history.

35:34.000 --> 35:37.000
OK, obviously, they're going to say it starts with Jesus.

35:37.000 --> 35:41.000
They're going to say it goes into Peter and then it goes through Peter and Paul.

35:41.000 --> 35:47.000
And they basically give attribution to these different ones as far as Constantinople.

35:47.000 --> 35:51.000
They attribute to St. Andrew, the apostle Antioch.

35:51.000 --> 35:54.000
They give to Peter and Paul.

35:54.000 --> 35:58.000
They give Alexandria to St. Mark, Jerusalem.

35:58.000 --> 36:00.000
They give the James and then Rome.

36:00.000 --> 36:02.000
They give back to Peter and Paul as well.

36:02.000 --> 36:06.000
OK, so that's just kind of what they this is just this is just a history lesson.

36:06.000 --> 36:09.000
You want to understand what the orthodox and the Catholic basically believes.

36:09.000 --> 36:15.000
They say, hey, these five major centers, churches are coming out of again from a biblical perspective.

36:15.000 --> 36:19.000
We can't really argue with the fact that these things happen, right?

36:19.000 --> 36:21.000
The apostles went out. They started churches.

36:21.000 --> 36:24.000
We see churches and virtually all these areas.

36:24.000 --> 36:28.000
Again, there's not really any information about Alexandria, but I'm not even going to quibble and say that that didn't happen.

36:28.000 --> 36:30.000
I'm sure it did. OK, so churches did form.

36:30.000 --> 36:35.000
But, you know, they're also leaving out lots of churches that did form in the Book of Acts.

36:35.000 --> 36:36.000
I mean, there's all kinds of church.

36:36.000 --> 36:42.000
I mean, how about just the churches that are named in the Bible literally with an epistle like the church at Corinth?

36:42.000 --> 36:47.000
Isn't that I mean, isn't Corinth a pretty major church in the Bible?

36:47.000 --> 36:54.000
I mean, you got two epistles written to it and there's two of the more lengthy epistles that are written to churches specifically.

36:54.000 --> 36:58.000
You've got Galatia. You've got the church at Ephesus.

36:58.000 --> 37:03.000
You've got all kinds of different churches being mentioned in the Bible explicitly.

37:03.000 --> 37:06.000
Additionally, you've got the seven churches, which are in Asia.

37:06.000 --> 37:09.000
And again, I understand that some of this has some crossover and whatever.

37:09.000 --> 37:14.000
But in general, they're not necessarily naming every church that happened in the New Testament.

37:14.000 --> 37:18.000
So, again, it's already kind of being cherry picked if you kind of ask me.

37:18.000 --> 37:21.000
But regardless, let's say, hey, this is true, right?

37:21.000 --> 37:23.000
Churches are formed.

37:23.000 --> 37:32.000
Now, again, from a Catholic perspective, what they believe is that Rome here had Peter as a bishop at one point.

37:32.000 --> 37:34.000
Peter was literally their bishop. He was in Rome.

37:34.000 --> 37:36.000
He's leading the church in Rome.

37:36.000 --> 37:39.000
And then he ordained an elder.

37:39.000 --> 37:41.000
Peter dies.

37:41.000 --> 37:48.000
OK, eventually that elder ordains an elder and that guy ordains an elder and that guy ordains an elder.

37:48.000 --> 37:56.000
And they believe they have an unbroken chain from Peter specifically all the way to their current pope today.

37:56.000 --> 37:59.000
So that is what the Catholic Church teaches.

37:59.000 --> 38:03.000
OK, I'm going to say maybe that's true.

38:03.000 --> 38:05.000
I don't really you know, it doesn't really matter to me.

38:05.000 --> 38:09.000
It's like meaningless to me whether or not that is true to them.

38:09.000 --> 38:17.000
It is everything, every single thing that matters is hinged on this point.

38:17.000 --> 38:20.000
Everything about the Catholic Church, everything about the Orthodox as well.

38:20.000 --> 38:21.000
Now, here's the thing.

38:21.000 --> 38:26.000
The Orthodox is going to is kind of more like concerned with, hey, we're coming from these five streams.

38:26.000 --> 38:28.000
The Catholics kind of just like hone in on Rome.

38:28.000 --> 38:29.000
All right.

38:29.000 --> 38:34.000
And they really use some of the language given in the New Testament to Peter specifically.

38:34.000 --> 38:42.000
He's like, you know, upon this rock while I build my church, they kind of try to make it seem like Peter is the top of the food chain.

38:42.000 --> 38:43.000
And Peter was the first pope.

38:43.000 --> 38:44.000
Who's heard this?

38:44.000 --> 38:45.000
Peter's the first pope.

38:45.000 --> 38:46.000
That's what they mean.

38:46.000 --> 38:54.000
They mean that Peter is the head bishop of all the bishops and he's the most important guy and that Rome ruled the world then.

38:54.000 --> 38:59.000
And it's always ruled the world and that all the churches have to, quote, submit to Rome.

38:59.000 --> 39:03.000
And if you if you run into a Catholic, they'll be like, submit to Rome.

39:03.000 --> 39:06.000
OK, you argue with the Catholics, submit to Rome.

39:06.000 --> 39:07.000
Everything's about just submitting to Rome.

39:07.000 --> 39:08.000
Why?

39:08.000 --> 39:12.000
Because they just think Peter is their their bishop, their pope.

39:12.000 --> 39:19.000
And they have this perfect unbroken chain of what they'd call apostolic succession.

39:19.000 --> 39:21.000
Apostolic succession.

39:21.000 --> 39:23.000
You'll hear this just thrown out all the time.

39:23.000 --> 39:25.000
What is the apostolic is talking about?

39:25.000 --> 39:31.000
The Apostles succession is talking about their genealogy of bishops.

39:31.000 --> 39:38.000
They're essentially just pedigree, their lineage, their supposed unbroken chain of bishops.

39:38.000 --> 39:50.000
For church history perspective, though, the Catholics and the Orthodox kind of have to point to the exact same church history for the first thousand years.

39:50.000 --> 40:01.000
OK, and they would say, oh, we had seven ecumenical councils throughout time and both Orthodox and Catholic would say that is their their church history.

40:01.000 --> 40:11.000
OK, so they say they have the first ecumenical council, Nicaea one and three hundred and twenty five A.D.

40:11.000 --> 40:17.000
So, again, their perspective of church history is you have all these churches in the first century.

40:17.000 --> 40:22.000
They eventually start receiving severe persecution from Rome.

40:22.000 --> 40:23.000
These things are just facts.

40:23.000 --> 40:26.000
Rome does severely persecute the church.

40:26.000 --> 40:31.000
And, of course, they're killing Christians and slaughtering Christians for hundreds of years.

40:31.000 --> 40:34.000
Around this time, it starts to change.

40:34.000 --> 40:42.000
And, of course, you have the famous vision where the emperor is seeing Christianity and he, you know,

40:43.000 --> 40:47.000
Constantine is basically making Christianity legal.

40:47.000 --> 40:49.000
And then all of a sudden things start to change.

40:49.000 --> 41:00.000
So when they say ecumenical, what they mean is they took leaders from churches all over Europe and that part of the world and parts of Asia Minor and stuff.

41:00.000 --> 41:04.000
And they all gather together and they all made a little creed here.

41:04.000 --> 41:07.000
And that's what happened in three hundred and twenty five.

41:07.000 --> 41:10.000
Basically, they're trying to figure out what their core beliefs are.

41:10.000 --> 41:12.000
Now they have like seven versions of this.

41:12.000 --> 41:18.000
OK, so they had this one council of Nicea and three hundred and twenty five, then Constantinople.

41:21.000 --> 41:23.000
Three hundred and eighty one.

41:24.000 --> 41:26.000
Then they had one in Ephesus.

41:29.000 --> 41:31.000
And four hundred and thirty one.

41:31.000 --> 41:32.000
Then Caledon.

41:36.000 --> 41:38.000
And four fifty one.

41:40.000 --> 41:42.000
I don't even want to write this whole thing.

41:42.000 --> 41:44.000
Constantinople, two.

41:44.000 --> 41:45.000
All right.

41:45.000 --> 41:47.000
It's in five fifty three.

41:48.000 --> 41:52.000
And then Constantinople, three.

41:52.000 --> 41:55.000
Six hundred and eighty six eighty one.

41:55.000 --> 42:00.000
And then Nicea again.

42:00.000 --> 42:02.000
And I'm probably misspelling this.

42:02.000 --> 42:03.000
There we go.

42:03.000 --> 42:04.000
All right.

42:04.000 --> 42:06.000
Two and seven eighty seven.

42:06.000 --> 42:07.000
All right.

42:08.000 --> 42:11.000
I'm just trying to give you just a baseline understanding.

42:11.000 --> 42:14.000
This isn't that important, but it just kind of helps us understand.

42:14.000 --> 42:21.000
They say they have these seven ecumenical councils and they basically establish all these little creeds and updates to their creeds and stuff like that.

42:21.000 --> 42:25.000
So when people are talking about creeds and stuff, this is what they're talking about.

42:25.000 --> 42:26.000
OK.

42:26.000 --> 42:30.000
Now, just just for a pause and break in the history, just talk about this for a second.

42:30.000 --> 42:36.000
What if we just gather the like seven most popular preachers in the world today and we ask them to come up with a set of creeds?

42:36.000 --> 42:39.000
Do you think I would be invited?

42:39.000 --> 42:42.000
Do you think we would even agree with every single thing that they said?

42:42.000 --> 42:58.000
But at the same time, you know, if you were to go online and you were to look at just some of the largest non-denom churches in America or the world and you were to look at their doctrinal statement, how many of us would even disagree with their doctrinal statement?

42:58.000 --> 43:05.000
You'd actually be surprised that probably almost none of us would even disagree with it because it probably has to do with the fact that we're not even talking about the doctrine of the church.

43:05.000 --> 43:12.000
I mean, I'm not even going to disagree with it because it probably has about like five points and it's like point one, the Bible's the word of God.

43:12.000 --> 43:17.000
Point two, God is made of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

43:17.000 --> 43:20.000
Point three, salvation is by faith.

43:20.000 --> 43:23.000
Point four, Jesus is coming back.

43:23.000 --> 43:26.000
Point five, the local church, you know, baptizes.

43:26.000 --> 43:29.000
I mean, if you look at most non-denom, it's like basically that.

43:29.000 --> 43:30.000
Why?

43:30.000 --> 43:36.000
They aim to just be non-denom and get as many people to agree with them and as many people to like them.

43:36.000 --> 43:43.000
So in many cases, you know, when you look at some of these creeds, they're kind of, in my opinion, written a similar way where it's just kind of aimed to just please the masses.

43:43.000 --> 43:48.000
And for the most part, we don't even really disagree with much of what it's saying, but it doesn't really matter.

43:48.000 --> 43:54.000
It doesn't necessarily reflect what people actually believe or all the different variations of beliefs that exist.

43:54.000 --> 44:02.000
It was just basically like, hey, let's all just try to, you know, get together and try to be as non-denom and ecumenical as possible.

44:02.000 --> 44:04.000
And again, what is the non-denom goal?

44:04.000 --> 44:08.000
It's to be ecumenical, is to gather as many loosely labeled Christians together.

44:08.000 --> 44:16.000
It doesn't matter if you're really Church of Christ underneath the hood or Methodist or Catholic or Mormon or not even a Christian at all.

44:16.000 --> 44:17.000
Non-denom.

44:17.000 --> 44:23.000
OK, and look, I've been part of non-denom churches where it is everything you could think of.

44:23.000 --> 44:27.000
I went and visited Gateway one time.

44:27.000 --> 44:29.000
So I was trying to get secret footage for a soul-winding documentary.

44:29.000 --> 44:34.000
And I was just asking some of the people there, like, while after the service, like what they believed.

44:34.000 --> 44:36.000
And this one guy's like, yeah, I go to the university here.

44:36.000 --> 44:43.000
I go to King's University because they bought a Bible college and imported it over here so they give themselves doctorates.

44:43.000 --> 44:46.000
But I'm talking to the guy and he's like, yeah, I'm an atheist.

44:46.000 --> 44:52.000
And I'm like, so you go to this church and you go to their Bible college and you're just an admitted atheist.

44:52.000 --> 44:56.000
Like in two minutes of talking with you, you're just telling me you're an atheist.

44:56.000 --> 44:58.000
Like that's what you get at the non-denom.

44:58.000 --> 45:00.000
OK, you get anything and everything.

45:00.000 --> 45:08.000
It wouldn't even surprise me if people in these councils, some of them were atheists, some of them had extremely weird beliefs.

45:08.000 --> 45:13.000
And look, when you look at our, quote, church fathers, which I would never use that term, except for in a pejorative sense,

45:14.000 --> 45:30.000
many of these people have weird, strange beliefs, super heretics, super heresy, crazy, weird, bizarre things you wouldn't even want to mention, OK, associated with many of the people in these groups.

45:30.000 --> 45:38.000
So, you know, I don't really care about this, but the Catholics and the Orthodox, this is everything to them.

45:38.000 --> 45:40.000
This is literally everything to them.

45:40.000 --> 45:46.000
And both of them say we have this stream and it turned into this.

45:46.000 --> 45:53.000
But by 1054 AD, there was a great schism.

45:53.000 --> 45:57.000
OK, again, not that important to us because we don't really remember it.

45:57.000 --> 46:03.000
Don't really care. But essentially, the Orthodox and the Catholic finally split in 1054 AD.

46:03.000 --> 46:11.000
The Bishop of Rome has come up with some new doctrines, things like immaculate conception.

46:11.000 --> 46:16.000
Come up with new doctrines like purgatory, things that have never been taught that are weird.

46:16.000 --> 46:27.000
And so as a result, the Orthodox, the Greek Orthodox and the Orthodox, the Eastern Orthodox, they're basically like, no, like you can't just come up with new stuff.

46:27.000 --> 46:29.000
Tradition. OK.

46:29.000 --> 46:34.000
And and they're like, hey, we're from Peter, bro.

46:34.000 --> 46:37.000
You got to just submit to Rome. You got to do whatever we say.

46:37.000 --> 46:43.000
And they're just like, no. And then, of course, there's a huge geographic divide between these two churches.

46:43.000 --> 46:49.000
And there's a language divide. The Western side is using the Latin. Rome's using the Latin.

46:49.000 --> 46:52.000
We have the Eastern using the Greek.

46:52.000 --> 46:56.000
And so it's just kind of a natural divide, a natural split.

46:56.000 --> 47:03.000
So the pope excommunicates the bishop of the Orthodox and then the Orthodox excommunicates the pope.

47:03.000 --> 47:06.000
OK, so they both kick each other out. All right.

47:06.000 --> 47:12.000
And it was a big Facebook post and everybody had to pick a side or whatever.

47:12.000 --> 47:15.000
But that's that's basically where they finally split.

47:15.000 --> 47:21.000
So if you ask Orthodox or you ask Catholic anything, they'll all point to these things as being their source.

47:21.000 --> 47:23.000
They'll be like, this is our council.

47:23.000 --> 47:27.000
You know, this is our guy. This is our father. This is our history. This is our lineage.

47:27.000 --> 47:29.000
They both go all the way back.

47:29.000 --> 47:36.000
After this point, they kind of start to have different histories, different beliefs and some different stuff going on.

47:36.000 --> 47:39.000
OK, but I just wanted to give you that kind of idea.

47:39.000 --> 47:45.000
But all of this still violates Colossians, chapter two, look at verse number eight.

47:45.000 --> 47:56.000
The Bible says, beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ.

47:56.000 --> 48:07.000
So both of these people, when you look through the church history and you look at all the different teachings and where things are coming from, they have a huge Greek philosophy influence.

48:07.000 --> 48:19.000
They are being influenced by Aristotle, by Plato, by Socrates, and they've kind of infused Greek philosophy and Greek wisdom with the Bible.

48:19.000 --> 48:23.000
And many of their doctrines are coming from those belief systems.

48:23.000 --> 48:35.000
OK, and so from the very origin of wherever you're going to put the Catholic Church, you want to put it here or the Orthodox or whatever, at whatever point they've had heavy influence of philosophy.

48:35.000 --> 48:37.000
Some people would say the Catholic Church started here.

48:37.000 --> 48:38.000
But here's the thing.

48:38.000 --> 48:54.000
If Paul is warning about churches being corrupted by Greek philosophy in the first century, that tends to believe that there could have been churches at that time that were influenced by Greek philosophy and were already bad and already going bad.

48:54.000 --> 49:05.000
So you could even argue maybe the Catholic Church really does go all the way back to the time of the Apostles in the sense that there was bad churches being corrupted by Greek philosophy and Greek wisdom all the way back then.

49:05.000 --> 49:10.000
And then there would be if he's warning about it, I don't think he's giving an idle warning here.

49:10.000 --> 49:12.000
I don't think that he's giving some subtle warning.

49:12.000 --> 49:21.000
And in fact, when do you think people were more impacted by Greek wisdom and 325 A.D. or at the at the first century?

49:21.000 --> 49:26.000
Way more the first century because the entire world is basically just heavily Greek influence.

49:26.000 --> 49:28.000
The church turned the world upside down.

49:28.000 --> 49:38.000
There was way more Greek philosophy and Greek wisdom that was being spread in the first century than there would have been at 325 A.D.

49:38.000 --> 49:46.000
So, of course, that admonition is probably even more applicable at that time than it would have been in a future sense.

49:46.000 --> 49:56.000
And so obviously the Greek philosophy and the Greek wisdom really spoiled a lot of churches and it caused a lot of bad lines of churches to spread.

49:56.000 --> 50:00.000
Once you get to 1 Peter, Chapter one, go to 1 Peter, Chapter one.

50:00.000 --> 50:03.000
Notice that the Bible uses the word tradition often and it's not positive.

50:03.000 --> 50:12.000
Now, it's not true that traditions always negative in the Bible, but it's like, I don't know, around 14 mentions and about 11 of them are bad.

50:13.000 --> 50:16.000
So, you know, you should take that for what it's worth, right?

50:16.000 --> 50:21.000
If you got a word 14 times, 11 is really bad.

50:21.000 --> 50:26.000
And then a couple of times it's good means that we should be really careful with that word, right?

50:26.000 --> 50:32.000
We should want to make sure that when we use the word tradition that we're meaning it the way the Bible means it, because it could be really bad.

50:32.000 --> 50:35.000
Yeah. Did the apostles give some traditions to the churches?

50:35.000 --> 50:37.000
Yes. Is that good?

50:37.000 --> 50:40.000
Yes. Tradition can be good when it's good.

50:40.000 --> 50:42.000
But traditions also bad when it's bad.

50:42.000 --> 50:46.000
Tradition in and of itself is not inherently good or bad.

50:46.000 --> 50:48.000
It's contextually good or bad.

50:48.000 --> 50:51.000
And you say, well, how do I know if a tradition is good or bad?

50:51.000 --> 50:53.000
Whatever the Bible says.

50:53.000 --> 50:55.000
That's what Jesus taught.

50:55.000 --> 51:01.000
Jesus taught, hey, you just don't violate or reject God's word to keep a tradition.

51:01.000 --> 51:03.000
So this is what I would say.

51:03.000 --> 51:05.000
You have a tradition that matches the Bible.

51:05.000 --> 51:07.000
Great.

51:07.000 --> 51:11.000
You have a tradition that the Bible doesn't really talk about.

51:11.000 --> 51:13.000
Then I would just say it's neutral.

51:13.000 --> 51:15.000
Then you have a tradition that the Bible forbids.

51:15.000 --> 51:18.000
Well, it's wicked and you should abandon it immediately.

51:18.000 --> 51:25.000
OK, churches that keep traditions that violate the Bible are wrong and should be immediately changing and repenting.

51:25.000 --> 51:30.000
A church holding a tradition that the Bible is silent on, then I have no problem.

51:30.000 --> 51:31.000
They should keep it.

51:31.000 --> 51:33.000
You know, I have no problem with them keeping it.

51:33.000 --> 51:36.000
I also have no problem if they want to change or adapt it.

51:36.000 --> 51:40.000
A tradition that the Bible commands must be kept.

51:40.000 --> 51:44.000
OK, but at the end of the day, it's not really about the tradition, is it?

51:44.000 --> 51:46.000
It's just whatever the Bible says.

51:46.000 --> 51:48.000
If the Bible says it, we're going to keep it.

51:48.000 --> 51:51.000
If it doesn't, then, hey, we can adapt.

51:51.000 --> 51:52.000
We can change.

51:52.000 --> 51:55.000
And if it says you shouldn't, then you need to immediately change.

51:55.000 --> 51:57.000
First, Peter, chapter one, look, verse 18.

51:57.000 --> 52:02.000
For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation,

52:03.000 --> 52:08.000
Notice this received by tradition from your fathers in order for people to even come into the church in the New Testament.

52:11.000 --> 52:16.000
They had to leave tradition the first time, the first time they had to leave tradition.

52:16.000 --> 52:25.000
They had to leave the tradition of paganism, of Roman influence, of Greek influence, of whatever nonsense that they had been taught before,

52:25.000 --> 52:29.000
particularly even from Socrates or Plato, Aristotle.

52:29.000 --> 52:37.000
I mean, you look at the Apostle Paul going on Mars Hill, confronting them about all their idolatry, worshiping the unknown God.

52:37.000 --> 52:42.000
They are so superstitious, as he describes them, where they worshiped every God.

52:42.000 --> 52:47.000
And he's saying, hey, you need to turn from dumb idols unto the living God.

52:47.000 --> 52:49.000
You have the Samaritan woman.

52:49.000 --> 52:52.000
Jesus Christ is telling her, you know not what you worship.

52:52.000 --> 52:55.000
These people have a bad tradition, not doing it right.

52:55.000 --> 53:04.000
If you're going to worship God, you have to do it in spirit and in truth, meaning we have to do it with the right attitude, mindset, and we have to do it with what the Bible says.

53:04.000 --> 53:06.000
Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

53:06.000 --> 53:15.000
God does not care about rote, religious, you know, just pandering, just following some kind of a ritual, just showing up.

53:15.000 --> 53:22.000
Well, you showed up in a building and did, you know, a bunch of this and stood and nailed and ate a cracker and whatever.

53:22.000 --> 53:27.000
Do you think God up in heaven is just like, I just want to make sure that they eat a cracker, you know?

53:27.000 --> 53:32.000
Like little parrot, you know, just go to a wall and just go like this.

53:32.000 --> 53:35.000
Do you think God really cares about that?

53:35.000 --> 53:39.000
I mean, God, what does somebody standing at the wall praying?

53:39.000 --> 53:42.000
They're like, oh God, well they're not bobbling, you know.

53:42.000 --> 53:45.000
God's like, I just really want this, you know.

53:45.000 --> 53:48.000
They're just all little bobble heads or something?

53:48.000 --> 53:50.000
I mean, look, this is not the God of the Bible.

53:50.000 --> 53:54.000
The God of the Bible wants you to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

53:54.000 --> 53:58.000
Because if it's not true, then it's not genuine worship and it's meaningless.

53:58.000 --> 54:01.000
So again, we have a little bit of church history here.

54:01.000 --> 54:06.000
You know, if I was to argue with one of these people or if I was to talk to these people, I don't even care.

54:06.000 --> 54:10.000
I'll just say, hey, your church history, I'll accept it.

54:10.000 --> 54:12.000
I'll accept that it happened.

54:12.000 --> 54:13.000
But you know what I won't accept?

54:13.000 --> 54:15.000
That it's legit and true.

54:15.000 --> 54:20.000
Hey, it can happen just because these things happen does not mean that they're legitimate.

54:20.000 --> 54:23.000
Just like Islam happened.

54:23.000 --> 54:24.000
Does that make it legitimate?

54:24.000 --> 54:25.000
No.

54:25.000 --> 54:26.000
Mormonism happened.

54:26.000 --> 54:27.000
Hinduism happened.

54:27.000 --> 54:29.000
Hinduism goes before all this.

54:29.000 --> 54:30.000
It happened.

54:30.000 --> 54:31.000
I'll accept it.

54:31.000 --> 54:33.000
I'll accept that Hinduism is older than this.

54:33.000 --> 54:36.000
I'll accept that Hinduism has millions and billions of followers.

54:36.000 --> 54:39.000
I'll accept that Hinduism exists.

54:39.000 --> 54:40.000
But you know what I won't accept?

54:40.000 --> 54:42.000
The religion of Hinduism.

54:42.000 --> 54:44.000
Well, it traditionally hasn't changed.

54:44.000 --> 54:45.000
Okay, well, it's always been bad.

54:45.000 --> 54:48.000
It's always been satanic and it's always been wicked.

54:48.000 --> 54:49.000
Okay.

54:49.000 --> 54:51.000
Mormonism, always satanic and wicked.

54:51.000 --> 54:54.000
The religion of Islam, always satanic and wicked.

54:54.000 --> 54:59.000
And I'll say this, the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, in my opinion, has always been bad.

54:59.000 --> 55:01.000
It's always been corrupt.

55:01.000 --> 55:06.000
Now, I think it's reasonable to believe that the Catholic Church has evolved throughout the ages.

55:06.000 --> 55:08.000
There's been different seasons.

55:08.000 --> 55:11.000
Sometimes it's been more corrupt than others.

55:12.000 --> 55:21.000
You know, in the age of the Internet and travel, we don't often understand how difficult it would be to manage so many churches across so many geographies.

55:21.000 --> 55:31.000
So it's possible that there could have been Catholic churches throughout history that kind of went rogue, according to the Catholic doctrine, and was even teaching some good doctrines.

55:31.000 --> 55:35.000
Or there was some leaders in the Catholic Church that went rogue and taught some good things.

55:36.000 --> 55:41.000
And if you kind of understand the precursor to the Protestant Reformation, that's a lot of times what happened.

55:41.000 --> 55:45.000
People like, you know, the Wycliffe Bible, he was a Catholic priest.

55:45.000 --> 55:49.000
But then a lot of people got mad about his teachings when they kind of figured it out.

55:49.000 --> 55:54.000
They dug up his bones after he was dead and like thrown in the river or something.

55:54.000 --> 55:55.000
I can't remember.

55:55.000 --> 56:00.000
They basically tried to make him be like a heretic or excommunicate him after he died.

56:00.000 --> 56:01.000
And it's like, bro, it's too late.

56:01.000 --> 56:02.000
Okay.

56:02.000 --> 56:10.000
But a lot of people, you know, were outside the Catholic Church, were influenced by all kinds of different teachings that weren't necessarily Catholic.

56:10.000 --> 56:13.000
That's why the Catholic Church had to try and enforce a lot of the dogmas.

56:13.000 --> 56:14.000
You have the Holy Crusades.

56:14.000 --> 56:18.000
You have all you have all these different eras and different things that are happening.

56:18.000 --> 56:21.000
Catholic Church is constantly trying to ban people from owning a Bible.

56:21.000 --> 56:22.000
Why?

56:22.000 --> 56:26.000
Because when people start reading the Bible, they're like, oh, that's not this.

56:26.000 --> 56:28.000
None of this is in the Bible.

56:28.000 --> 56:29.000
It's not defensible.

56:29.000 --> 56:30.000
What's the difference?

56:30.000 --> 56:31.000
It's not defensible whatsoever.

56:31.000 --> 56:39.000
And so, of course, you don't think there could have been a Catholic priest somewhere in the world that actually started reading the Bible and was like, uh, this is bad.

56:39.000 --> 56:40.000
Like this is wrong.

56:40.000 --> 56:42.000
Maybe he got influenced by other people.

56:42.000 --> 56:46.000
Maybe some of these people in the Catholic Church obviously would have gotten saved.

56:46.000 --> 56:52.000
You know, if you lived in Europe and a lot of these times in history, that was your only choice.

56:52.000 --> 56:56.000
It was like, go to church, go to the Catholic Church or not.

56:56.000 --> 56:59.000
And again, today we have so many options.

56:59.000 --> 57:02.000
But I mean, how many saved people today are going to a bad church?

57:02.000 --> 57:05.000
There's a lot of saved people going to bad churches.

57:05.000 --> 57:09.000
OK, there's even people I've run into today that are saved and going to a Catholic Church.

57:09.000 --> 57:11.000
And you're just thinking like, what in the world?

57:11.000 --> 57:14.000
Why are you going there in today's world when you don't even have to?

57:14.000 --> 57:16.000
You know, you don't you're not forced to.

57:16.000 --> 57:17.000
But it's like, well, my wife drags me.

57:17.000 --> 57:18.000
So he's forced to.

57:18.000 --> 57:21.000
OK, don't let your wife drag you to the Catholic Church.

57:21.000 --> 57:23.000
OK, be man enough.

57:23.000 --> 57:30.000
But at the end of the day, when we talk about these particular issues, tradition doesn't really matter.

57:30.000 --> 57:34.000
Even if it was true, I'll grant you that maybe it was true, but it doesn't make it right.

57:34.000 --> 57:40.000
It doesn't make it legitimate, even if it is historical, even if it has this perfect succession.

57:40.000 --> 57:42.000
Did I have you turn somewhere?

57:42.000 --> 57:43.000
No, go to Ezekiel 48 if you would.

57:43.000 --> 57:47.000
OK, go to Ezekiel 48.

57:47.000 --> 57:49.000
There is different flavors of the Orthodox Church.

57:49.000 --> 57:55.000
OK, so even though they want to act like they're this unbroken chain, we are this church.

57:55.000 --> 57:56.000
We've never changed.

57:56.000 --> 57:57.000
We're the exact same since Peter.

57:57.000 --> 57:59.000
Not really true.

57:59.000 --> 58:00.000
And they have different flavors.

58:00.000 --> 58:02.000
There's a Greek Orthodox Church.

58:02.000 --> 58:04.000
There's a Russian Orthodox Church.

58:04.000 --> 58:11.000
Then there's Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Georgian, Antiochian, Oriental or Coptic.

58:11.000 --> 58:13.000
OK, so there's all these different flavors.

58:13.000 --> 58:17.000
Notice that they're all kind of like geographic flavors, too, aren't they?

58:17.000 --> 58:18.000
It doesn't seem like it's a conviction.

58:18.000 --> 58:20.000
It's just a geographic flavor, right?

58:20.000 --> 58:23.000
And if you're at the Russian Orthodox Church, why?

58:23.000 --> 58:25.000
They're probably having the services in Russian.

58:25.000 --> 58:27.000
The Greeks are obviously having their services in Greek.

58:27.000 --> 58:32.000
A lot of them are having it in Greek, and they do hold to the Greek for the New Testament.

58:32.000 --> 58:38.000
And so if you want a New Testament manuscript, you know, they're going to be more reliable as far as leaning on the Greek.

58:38.000 --> 58:42.000
But they're so Greek that they also use the Greek for the Old Testament.

58:42.000 --> 58:45.000
So they use the Septuagint for the Old Testament.

58:46.000 --> 58:50.000
And so they're not necessarily using the same Bible as us in wholesale.

58:50.000 --> 58:55.000
They might like the Greek New Testament, but they're going to use the Greek Old Testament.

58:55.000 --> 58:58.000
Now, this is what many of your modern version Bibles are today.

58:58.000 --> 59:03.000
Many of your modern versions today, if you go in the Old Testament, there'll be a footnote.

59:03.000 --> 59:06.000
And then if you look at the bottom, it'll say Hebrew.

59:06.000 --> 59:14.000
Anytime it says Hebrew, what that really means is we inserted Greek here in the midst of all the Hebrew.

59:14.000 --> 59:18.000
Because it's like the majority of every Old Testament is Hebrew, period.

59:18.000 --> 59:23.000
It's just the majority of every English translation, English Bible, the majority is Hebrew.

59:23.000 --> 59:27.000
OK, but what they do is they just cut out a little bit.

59:27.000 --> 59:31.000
They do some plastic surgery, you know, Joyce Meyer style.

59:31.000 --> 59:36.000
And then they just insert a little Greek verse here or a Greek phrase here or a Greek word here.

59:36.000 --> 59:38.000
And then they'll just put down in the margin.

59:38.000 --> 59:41.000
Hebrew says this.

59:41.000 --> 59:45.000
It'll be like El Hanan, the son of Jehoragim, slew Goliath.

59:45.000 --> 59:49.000
And there'll be a footnote and it'll say like, well, in the Hebrew it says the brother of Goliath.

59:49.000 --> 59:52.000
Right. Yeah, because David slew Goliath, right?

59:52.000 --> 59:55.000
And it just does this all over the Old Testament.

59:55.000 --> 59:58.000
So again, that's kind of where the Greeks are at, though.

59:58.000 --> 01:00:02.000
They're going to adhere to every time the Greek has a variation.

01:00:02.000 --> 01:00:03.000
They're using the Greek Septuagint.

01:00:03.000 --> 01:00:06.000
They follow that particular manuscript.

01:00:06.000 --> 01:00:10.000
Now, let's think about this from a biblical perspective only for a moment.

01:00:10.000 --> 01:00:18.000
Does it matter if you have a perfect unbroken chain of ordained leaders?

01:00:18.000 --> 01:00:20.000
OK, does that matter?

01:00:20.000 --> 01:00:24.000
Well, at the time of Christ, we had a group called the Sadducees.

01:00:24.000 --> 01:00:28.000
OK, and they're really sad, you see, because they won't be resurrected.

01:00:28.000 --> 01:00:29.000
All right.

01:00:29.000 --> 01:00:34.000
They also were confused about marriage and all kinds of other stuff.

01:00:34.000 --> 01:00:37.000
But they just they denied the resurrection.

01:00:37.000 --> 01:00:42.000
They have weird beliefs, but they're coming from a legitimate source.

01:00:42.000 --> 01:00:44.000
They're coming from Zadok.

01:00:44.000 --> 01:00:46.000
Now look at Ezekiel 48 verse 11.

01:00:46.000 --> 01:00:49.000
And it shall be for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok,

01:00:49.000 --> 01:00:55.000
which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray as the Levites went astray.

01:00:55.000 --> 01:00:59.000
So we have the Levitical priesthood after the order of Aaron.

01:00:59.000 --> 01:01:06.000
This is a legitimate God ordained structure where you have Aaron ordaining his sons

01:01:06.000 --> 01:01:11.000
and their sons ordaining their sons and their sons and their sons and their sons and their sons and their sons.

01:01:11.000 --> 01:01:16.000
But the vast majority of this tree, this vast majority of this lineage is bad.

01:01:16.000 --> 01:01:18.000
It's corrupt.

01:01:18.000 --> 01:01:23.000
At the time of the Babylonian captivity, it's pretty much just all trash.

01:01:23.000 --> 01:01:26.000
But there's one line that stayed faithful.

01:01:26.000 --> 01:01:27.000
It's Zadok.

01:01:27.000 --> 01:01:29.000
So Zadok is faithful.

01:01:29.000 --> 01:01:38.000
So when they come back to restore the nation of Israel or Jerusalem and specifically they're rebuilding Jerusalem,

01:01:38.000 --> 01:01:44.000
they appoint the Zadok family to basically be the one to keep that Aaronic priesthood going.

01:01:44.000 --> 01:01:48.000
And at that time, they're still good.

01:01:48.000 --> 01:01:53.000
This is still, though, at least five hundred something years prior to the time of Christ.

01:01:53.000 --> 01:01:56.000
So prior to the time of Christ, Zadok is good.

01:01:56.000 --> 01:01:59.000
But let's fast forward five hundred years.

01:01:59.000 --> 01:02:09.000
I have no reason to doubt or disbelieve that the Sadducees weren't the physical descendants of Zadok and the physical descendants of Aaron.

01:02:09.000 --> 01:02:13.000
I believe in a priestly succession.

01:02:13.000 --> 01:02:16.000
They had a perfect, Aaronic priesthood succession.

01:02:16.000 --> 01:02:22.000
But here's the problem with the Sadducees, not their pedigree, their beliefs, their heretics.

01:02:22.000 --> 01:02:24.000
They're not even saved.

01:02:24.000 --> 01:02:31.000
It doesn't matter. Jesus never disputes with them whether or not they have the right tradition or pedigree or succession.

01:02:31.000 --> 01:02:34.000
Go to Matthew 16, go to Matthew chapter 16.

01:02:34.000 --> 01:02:37.000
Let's see what Jesus has to say about these particular people.

01:02:37.000 --> 01:02:44.000
Matthew chapter 16, look at verse number 11.

01:02:44.000 --> 01:02:46.000
Now, this is Jesus talking to his disciples.

01:02:46.000 --> 01:02:51.000
Verse 11, How is it that you do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread,

01:02:51.000 --> 01:02:53.000
that you should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

01:02:53.000 --> 01:02:58.000
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread,

01:02:58.000 --> 01:03:02.000
but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

01:03:02.000 --> 01:03:07.000
So you can have a perfect, absolutely perfect succession of priests.

01:03:07.000 --> 01:03:11.000
Priests, we get priests, we get priests, we get priests, we get priests, we get priests.

01:03:11.000 --> 01:03:15.000
Perfect unbroken succession from Aaron, the God ordained minister.

01:03:15.000 --> 01:03:19.000
It's the Aaronic priesthood all the way to the time of Christ.

01:03:19.000 --> 01:03:21.000
And then what is Jesus saying?

01:03:21.000 --> 01:03:23.000
Don't believe what these guys believe.

01:03:23.000 --> 01:03:25.000
Don't adhere to their doctrines.

01:03:25.000 --> 01:03:30.000
Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees because their doctrine is corrupt.

01:03:30.000 --> 01:03:32.000
And they're teaching what?

01:03:32.000 --> 01:03:38.000
They're teaching doctrines from the commandments of men and they're rejecting the word of God.

01:03:38.000 --> 01:03:43.000
So if in the Bible the priestly succession failed, if the tradition failed,

01:03:43.000 --> 01:03:47.000
why would I then use that argument for the church in the New Testament?

01:03:47.000 --> 01:03:48.000
Let's go to another example.

01:03:48.000 --> 01:03:50.000
Go to John chapter number eight.

01:03:50.000 --> 01:03:51.000
Go to John chapter number eight.

01:03:51.000 --> 01:03:55.000
The Bible tells us specifically about the Sadducees that they deny the resurrection.

01:03:55.000 --> 01:03:57.000
That means they're not saved, folks.

01:03:57.000 --> 01:03:58.000
Read 1 Corinthians 15.

01:03:58.000 --> 01:04:02.000
You deny the resurrection and it wasn't Jesus' resurrection.

01:04:02.000 --> 01:04:04.000
They deny resurrection in general.

01:04:04.000 --> 01:04:10.000
I mean, these people, it's hard to even find a Christian group today that would have such a weird doctrine.

01:04:10.000 --> 01:04:13.000
That is a very, very bad doctrine.

01:04:14.000 --> 01:04:17.000
This is kind of like the people that went to Bible college today,

01:04:17.000 --> 01:04:21.000
one of these liberal Bible colleges where they just don't even believe the Bible at all.

01:04:21.000 --> 01:04:23.000
The miracles of the Bible aren't even real.

01:04:23.000 --> 01:04:25.000
Everything's an allegory.

01:04:25.000 --> 01:04:27.000
Adam and Eve is an allegory.

01:04:27.000 --> 01:04:29.000
And look, you have people like that today.

01:04:29.000 --> 01:04:31.000
People like Martin Luther King Jr.

01:04:31.000 --> 01:04:36.000
Other individuals that got up and denied the resurrection, said everything was an allegory.

01:04:36.000 --> 01:04:40.000
Look, the Southern Baptist Convention in the 1960s got so bad

01:04:40.000 --> 01:04:43.000
that many of their leaders actually taught this kind of stuff.

01:04:43.000 --> 01:04:48.000
The Southern Baptist Convention had leaders getting up and saying Genesis is an allegory.

01:04:48.000 --> 01:04:50.000
It is not literal history.

01:04:50.000 --> 01:04:58.000
And of course, there was a lot of pressure on them to acquiesce to Charles Darwin evolutionary teaching.

01:04:58.000 --> 01:05:04.000
You know, you had the famous Scopes Monkey trial court case that overturned, you know,

01:05:04.000 --> 01:05:09.000
a lot of legislation making it where you were supposed to be teaching like Christian history in schools

01:05:09.000 --> 01:05:12.000
to where now they can start teaching evolution in schools.

01:05:12.000 --> 01:05:15.000
And that evolution spread, became more popular.

01:05:15.000 --> 01:05:18.000
So by the time of the 60s, there was all these people saying like,

01:05:18.000 --> 01:05:23.000
oh, well, if you believe 6,000 years, if you believe Genesis' little history,

01:05:23.000 --> 01:05:26.000
you're just denying science. You're a science denier.

01:05:26.000 --> 01:05:28.000
That sounds familiar, huh?

01:05:28.000 --> 01:05:31.000
People that think men can become women, you're now a science denier.

01:05:31.000 --> 01:05:35.000
Okay. It's like, if you don't believe that men can become women, you're a science denier.

01:05:35.000 --> 01:05:38.000
Look, no, the science teaches that if you're a man, you're a man.

01:05:38.000 --> 01:05:44.000
In the same way that the science does not teach that we are really, really 4.5 billion years old

01:05:44.000 --> 01:05:48.000
or something like that, or that nothing exploded and created everything.

01:05:48.000 --> 01:05:50.000
This is not science, folks.

01:05:50.000 --> 01:05:54.000
Science teaches that, you know, kinds of animals beget other kinds of animals,

01:05:54.000 --> 01:05:56.000
and we've never seen anything else.

01:05:56.000 --> 01:06:02.000
The Bible, if you look at it, is a historically accurate document.

01:06:02.000 --> 01:06:03.000
It is truth.

01:06:03.000 --> 01:06:07.000
If you study any kind of things through genetics, you'll realize, hey, we're all related.

01:06:07.000 --> 01:06:12.000
You study genetics and human population, you'll realize that it can only be a few thousand years old

01:06:12.000 --> 01:06:16.000
because the human population, just the scale of the human population,

01:06:16.000 --> 01:06:20.000
only leads it to be possible to have been a few thousand years old.

01:06:20.000 --> 01:06:24.000
Everything that they say and do and teach is just false.

01:06:24.000 --> 01:06:30.000
They find dinosaur remains and they test it and it's like, oh, well, this doesn't seem to match our ages.

01:06:30.000 --> 01:06:35.000
And they're constantly finding polystrate fossils, you know, that confirm the flood.

01:06:36.000 --> 01:06:39.000
Everything through science is always confirming the Bible, folks.

01:06:39.000 --> 01:06:40.000
Okay?

01:06:40.000 --> 01:06:42.000
It is not confirming evolution.

01:06:42.000 --> 01:06:46.000
But at the 60s, because of the pressure of evolution, you had a lot of guys getting up

01:06:46.000 --> 01:06:50.000
and just trying to try to fit the Bible with evolution, so there's like gap theory.

01:06:50.000 --> 01:06:53.000
So it's like, oh, well, it's all just a metaphor.

01:06:53.000 --> 01:06:56.000
And Adam and Eve were the first, you know, apes.

01:06:56.000 --> 01:06:59.000
There are people that literally teach this kind of nonsense.

01:06:59.000 --> 01:07:04.000
They'll say, oh, they're kind of like the first ape-like creatures in a long history

01:07:04.000 --> 01:07:06.000
of evolutionary processes.

01:07:06.000 --> 01:07:10.000
I've been in a Southern Baptist Church where we were in a Sunday school class

01:07:10.000 --> 01:07:15.000
and they let a woman get up and literally just teach that if you believe in young earth,

01:07:15.000 --> 01:07:20.000
you're an idiot, you're stupid, getting up and saying that evolution is true,

01:07:20.000 --> 01:07:24.000
saying that the Big Bang was true, and then just be like, God did it.

01:07:25.000 --> 01:07:31.000
And just acting like anybody who's had anything else to say was just an idiot,

01:07:31.000 --> 01:07:35.000
was just a fool, that there's these Baptist preachers getting up

01:07:35.000 --> 01:07:41.000
and just browbeating people in the submission and ignoring science and ignoring facts.

01:07:41.000 --> 01:07:44.000
And I'm like, you're ignoring verses in the Bible saying women shouldn't get up

01:07:44.000 --> 01:07:46.000
and teach the Bible, OK?

01:07:46.000 --> 01:07:52.000
Yeah, you little short dyke haircut getting up here and lecturing us on science and the Bible.

01:07:52.000 --> 01:07:54.000
But I'm telling you, this stuff is real.

01:07:54.000 --> 01:07:58.000
And, you know, what we really should be testing ourselves on is what the Bible says,

01:07:58.000 --> 01:08:04.000
not tradition, not popular science of this world, not pop culture.

01:08:04.000 --> 01:08:07.000
It's the Bible is our guiding light here, folks.

01:08:07.000 --> 01:08:14.000
And what's funny to me is, admittedly, a lot of Catholics and a lot of Orthodox,

01:08:14.000 --> 01:08:19.000
they've kind of turned and they've kind of realized like, hey, if we're going to be historical,

01:08:19.000 --> 01:08:24.000
we're going to be traditional, we kind of have to be anti-Jew, OK?

01:08:24.000 --> 01:08:30.000
Because if you start reading, you know, any of these church fathers, like, I don't know, Martin Luther,

01:08:30.000 --> 01:08:33.000
if you read, let's say the Catholics don't really like him.

01:08:33.000 --> 01:08:36.000
But OK, let's go John Christostome or you go some of these other guys.

01:08:36.000 --> 01:08:39.000
They're not pro-Jew. Europe was not pro-Jew.

01:08:39.000 --> 01:08:44.000
They were kicked out of all these different countries constantly.

01:08:44.000 --> 01:08:48.000
You know, some people say 47, some people say 109.

01:08:48.000 --> 01:08:49.000
You know, there's all kinds of different numbers.

01:08:49.000 --> 01:08:51.000
Maybe it's six million. I don't know.

01:08:51.000 --> 01:08:52.000
You know, it just keeps escalating.

01:08:52.000 --> 01:08:53.000
Maybe they're kicked out of six million countries.

01:08:53.000 --> 01:08:58.000
But either way, what I do know is that their arguments, though, against the Jews,

01:08:58.000 --> 01:09:01.000
it's funny because they make the same argument.

01:09:01.000 --> 01:09:06.000
Look at John chapter number eight and look at verse 37.

01:09:06.000 --> 01:09:11.000
I know that your Abraham seed, but you seek to kill me because my word has no place in you.

01:09:11.000 --> 01:09:16.000
Jesus says of the Jews, they are literally Abraham's descendants.

01:09:16.000 --> 01:09:18.000
They have perfect succession.

01:09:18.000 --> 01:09:19.000
But here's the thing.

01:09:19.000 --> 01:09:20.000
They're not God's people.

01:09:20.000 --> 01:09:22.000
They're not the children of God.

01:09:22.000 --> 01:09:23.000
Let's keep reading.

01:09:23.000 --> 01:09:26.000
He says in verse number 38,

01:09:26.000 --> 01:09:31.000
I speak that which I've seen with my father and you do that which you have seen with your father.

01:09:31.000 --> 01:09:33.000
They answered and said, Abraham is our father.

01:09:33.000 --> 01:09:38.000
Jesus said to them, if you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.

01:09:38.000 --> 01:09:42.000
But now you seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God.

01:09:42.000 --> 01:09:44.000
This did not Abraham.

01:09:44.000 --> 01:09:48.000
Ye do the deeds of your father, then said the Jews.

01:09:48.000 --> 01:09:51.000
Then said they to him, we be not born of fornication.

01:09:51.000 --> 01:09:53.000
We have one father, even God.

01:09:53.000 --> 01:09:58.000
Jesus said unto them, if God were your father, you would love me, for I proceeded forth and came from God.

01:09:58.000 --> 01:10:00.000
Neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

01:10:00.000 --> 01:10:02.000
Why do you not understand my speech?

01:10:02.000 --> 01:10:04.000
Even because he cannot hear my word.

01:10:04.000 --> 01:10:08.000
Ye of your father, the devil, and the lust of your father ye will do.

01:10:08.000 --> 01:10:13.000
He was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.

01:10:13.000 --> 01:10:17.000
When he speak of the lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

01:10:17.000 --> 01:10:20.000
And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

01:10:20.000 --> 01:10:25.000
That's what Jesus said to the literal physical descendants of Abraham.

01:10:25.000 --> 01:10:29.000
He said, I know your Abraham seed.

01:10:29.000 --> 01:10:32.000
I believe in your perfect succession.

01:10:32.000 --> 01:10:35.000
I believe in your genealogy.

01:10:35.000 --> 01:10:39.000
You are legitimately the physical descendants of Abraham.

01:10:39.000 --> 01:10:40.000
But here's the problem.

01:10:40.000 --> 01:10:42.000
You're the children of the devil.

01:10:43.000 --> 01:10:49.000
And look, did perfect succession actually have any legitimacy with Jesus Christ?

01:10:49.000 --> 01:10:51.000
None whatsoever.

01:10:51.000 --> 01:10:55.000
He said you could be literally Abraham's children and you're not Abraham's children.

01:10:55.000 --> 01:11:02.000
In the same way that you could be literally just the bishop from the bishop from the bishop from the bishop from the bishop from Peter.

01:11:02.000 --> 01:11:03.000
And guess what?

01:11:03.000 --> 01:11:05.000
You're a child of the devil at the same time.

01:11:05.000 --> 01:11:11.000
Because succession does not matter whatsoever from a physical carnal sense.

01:11:11.000 --> 01:11:14.000
If you are physically descended from someone that does not make you saved.

01:11:14.000 --> 01:11:22.000
And if you are coming from some church history succession that does not legitimately prove anything whatsoever.

01:11:22.000 --> 01:11:24.000
It is meaningless.

01:11:24.000 --> 01:11:27.000
The Bible just says avoid genealogies, doesn't it?

01:11:27.000 --> 01:11:29.000
How do these people reconcile that?

01:11:29.000 --> 01:11:30.000
Go to Revelation chapter two.

01:11:30.000 --> 01:11:31.000
Go to Revelation chapter two.

01:11:31.000 --> 01:11:33.000
Well, but you don't understand that.

01:11:33.000 --> 01:11:34.000
So we're not yet.

01:11:34.000 --> 01:11:37.000
We're not saying that we're physically descended from Peter.

01:11:37.000 --> 01:11:39.000
OK.

01:11:39.000 --> 01:11:46.000
But at the time of Christ, you have churches that have apostolic succession.

01:11:46.000 --> 01:11:47.000
I just think it's funny.

01:11:47.000 --> 01:11:50.000
You know why the Jews think that they're God's chosen people?

01:11:50.000 --> 01:11:52.000
Because of succession.

01:11:52.000 --> 01:11:55.000
You know why the Catholics think they're God's chosen people?

01:11:55.000 --> 01:11:56.000
Because of succession.

01:11:56.000 --> 01:11:59.000
You know why the Orthodox think that they're God's chosen people?

01:11:59.000 --> 01:12:00.000
Because of succession.

01:12:00.000 --> 01:12:01.000
But guess what?

01:12:01.000 --> 01:12:03.000
They're all wrong because it's not about succession.

01:12:03.000 --> 01:12:06.000
It's about faith in Jesus Christ.

01:12:06.000 --> 01:12:08.000
That's what makes you a child of God.

01:12:08.000 --> 01:12:10.000
That's what actually makes you saved.

01:12:10.000 --> 01:12:17.000
It's not about some kind of lineage or again, if you are Catholic, if you're Orthodox, you know what they'll do?

01:12:17.000 --> 01:12:19.000
They will baptize their baby.

01:12:19.000 --> 01:12:22.000
Who's seen this, heard this?

01:12:22.000 --> 01:12:24.000
How many of you were baptized as a baby?

01:12:24.000 --> 01:12:25.000
I don't know.

01:12:25.000 --> 01:12:26.000
Some of you might have been.

01:12:26.000 --> 01:12:27.000
OK.

01:12:27.000 --> 01:12:28.000
Think about this.

01:12:28.000 --> 01:12:33.000
How do you get you get to go to heaven just because your parents were Catholic?

01:12:33.000 --> 01:12:36.000
How is that not any different than what the Jews are teaching?

01:12:36.000 --> 01:12:40.000
They're teaching that they take their little baby and they're just sprinkling it.

01:12:40.000 --> 01:12:42.000
And that's why it gets to go to heaven.

01:12:42.000 --> 01:12:49.000
Not not because of faith in Jesus Christ or if you believe in the age of accountability, which is fine.

01:12:49.000 --> 01:12:54.000
But again, the age of accountability would apply to everybody, whether you're christened or not, whether you're baptized or not.

01:12:54.000 --> 01:13:02.000
So, again, their doctrine, their theology is a doctrine of theology that is racist and is based on their succession ism.

01:13:03.000 --> 01:13:10.000
And they think that they are better than other people because of who their parents were, because of their pedigree, because of their lineage.

01:13:10.000 --> 01:13:12.000
That is the same belief as the Jews.

01:13:12.000 --> 01:13:15.000
And look, it's the same as the Black Hebrew Israelites.

01:13:15.000 --> 01:13:17.000
It's the same as all of these cult groups.

01:13:17.000 --> 01:13:18.000
Why?

01:13:18.000 --> 01:13:24.000
Because a cult group has to try and make you special by race, not by grace.

01:13:24.000 --> 01:13:29.000
Cult groups try to teach you that they're special because of race and not by grace.

01:13:29.000 --> 01:13:30.000
And you know what?

01:13:30.000 --> 01:13:32.000
It's the same argument that the Jews make.

01:13:32.000 --> 01:13:33.000
And it's so funny.

01:13:33.000 --> 01:13:34.000
They're against the Jews.

01:13:34.000 --> 01:13:36.000
And then they make and borrow the same arguments from the Jews.

01:13:36.000 --> 01:13:38.000
Oh, it's by succession.

01:13:38.000 --> 01:13:40.000
No, it's by what God's word teaches.

01:13:40.000 --> 01:13:43.000
Now, again, let's just grant them.

01:13:43.000 --> 01:13:47.000
I don't even I think it's plausible that they're just lying or they're mistaken on history.

01:13:47.000 --> 01:13:51.000
Let's just assume that they were right, that they had a perfect apostolic succession.

01:13:51.000 --> 01:13:57.000
Well, you have churches in the New Testament that were for sure started by apostles, for sure.

01:13:57.000 --> 01:14:03.000
And yet they are in danger of being wicked and cast aside by Jesus Christ.

01:14:03.000 --> 01:14:05.000
Look at Revelation chapter two, verse five.

01:14:05.000 --> 01:14:09.000
Remember, therefore, from whence thou art fallen and repent and do the first works,

01:14:09.000 --> 01:14:13.000
or else I will come unto thee quickly and will remove thy candlestick out of his place,

01:14:13.000 --> 01:14:14.000
except thou repent.

01:14:14.000 --> 01:14:20.000
So you have a church in Asia, the church of Ephesus, is being rebuked and warned

01:14:20.000 --> 01:14:23.000
that if they don't change, they're going to lose their candlestick

01:14:23.000 --> 01:14:24.000
and they will no longer be a legitimate church.

01:14:24.000 --> 01:14:27.000
They will no longer have the blessing of God in their church.

01:14:27.000 --> 01:14:30.000
So, oh, but they have apostolic succession.

01:14:30.000 --> 01:14:32.000
Yeah, but they can go back.

01:14:32.000 --> 01:14:35.000
Any church can go bad at any point in time.

01:14:35.000 --> 01:14:39.000
Having apostolic succession is meaningless.

01:14:39.000 --> 01:14:44.000
And look, just because Jesus Christ removes the candlestick from this church

01:14:44.000 --> 01:14:49.000
does not mean and I do not believe means that they cease to exist physically.

01:14:49.000 --> 01:14:53.000
They could still be there and then, oh, they ordained somebody, still bad,

01:14:53.000 --> 01:14:57.000
ordained another person, still bad, ordained another person, still bad,

01:14:57.000 --> 01:15:01.000
still bad, still bad, still bad, and then you have a pope today.

01:15:01.000 --> 01:15:06.000
It does not prove whatsoever that tradition is going to stay true

01:15:06.000 --> 01:15:09.000
or that churches will stay true whatsoever.

01:15:09.000 --> 01:15:10.000
They go bad constantly in the Bible.

01:15:10.000 --> 01:15:11.000
Go backwards just a hair.

01:15:11.000 --> 01:15:16.000
Third John chapter one, third John chapter one, look at verse number nine.

01:15:16.000 --> 01:15:21.000
Here's another church that is apostolic succession.

01:15:21.000 --> 01:15:24.000
Verse nine, I wrote in the church, but deatres who love it have the

01:15:24.000 --> 01:15:26.000
permanence among them receive it is not.

01:15:26.000 --> 01:15:31.000
Here's another legitimately formed church and it gets hijacked by a bad person.

01:15:31.000 --> 01:15:35.000
The Apostle Paul warns in the book of Acts, chapter number 20,

01:15:35.000 --> 01:15:39.000
that grievous wolves shall enter in, not sparing the flaw.

01:15:39.000 --> 01:15:43.000
The Apostle Paul is warning that churches can go bad and that they will

01:15:43.000 --> 01:15:44.000
be bad leaders.

01:15:44.000 --> 01:15:48.000
He says even of your own cells, he says, hey, even some of you guys that

01:15:48.000 --> 01:15:52.000
we've ordained, even some of you guys that are quote legit are going to be

01:15:52.000 --> 01:15:53.000
bad and turn bad.

01:15:53.000 --> 01:15:58.000
I don't know, like Judas himself, legitimately ordained by Jesus Christ.

01:15:58.000 --> 01:16:02.000
He is a literal apostle or not a apostle, he's a disciple at least.

01:16:02.000 --> 01:16:05.000
He's a disciple in the sense that he was legitimately ordained.

01:16:05.000 --> 01:16:08.000
He's part of the 12 bad.

01:16:08.000 --> 01:16:10.000
Just because you have a legitimate ordained person,

01:16:10.000 --> 01:16:14.000
bad, just because you have a legitimate ordination does not mean you are

01:16:14.000 --> 01:16:15.000
legitimate.

01:16:15.000 --> 01:16:17.000
You could be pastor who?

01:16:17.000 --> 01:16:18.000
You know what I mean?

01:16:18.000 --> 01:16:22.000
Just because you were legitimately ordained doesn't mean you're legitimate.

01:16:22.000 --> 01:16:23.000
Okay.

01:16:23.000 --> 01:16:27.000
And in some cases, it's good as a congregation to not only consider the

01:16:27.000 --> 01:16:31.000
legitimacy of someone's ordination, but consider God's confirmation of that

01:16:31.000 --> 01:16:32.000
ordination.

01:16:32.000 --> 01:16:37.000
Is God confirming this person as legitimate?

01:16:37.000 --> 01:16:42.000
Is God evidencing this person's legitimacy through what?

01:16:42.000 --> 01:16:45.000
And of course, we always point to fruit because that's what Jesus points to.

01:16:45.000 --> 01:16:48.000
Jesus says, you shall know them by their roots.

01:16:48.000 --> 01:16:49.000
Okay.

01:16:49.000 --> 01:16:52.000
And if we were to look at the Catholic and the Orthodox, the fruit argument,

01:16:52.000 --> 01:16:54.000
it proves everything.

01:16:54.000 --> 01:16:55.000
It proves everything.

01:16:55.000 --> 01:16:59.000
I'm just trying to give you a quick journey so you get an idea of where these

01:16:59.000 --> 01:17:00.000
people are coming from.

01:17:00.000 --> 01:17:04.000
Go to Galatians, we're going to go there.

01:17:04.000 --> 01:17:09.000
So I took a long time to explain this point, but it's everything that they

01:17:09.000 --> 01:17:10.000
hinge everything on.

01:17:10.000 --> 01:17:11.000
Everything.

01:17:11.000 --> 01:17:14.000
The Orthodox and the Catholic say we have tradition.

01:17:14.000 --> 01:17:17.000
We have an unbroken apostolic succession.

01:17:17.000 --> 01:17:18.000
Okay.

01:17:18.000 --> 01:17:19.000
And that is why we're legit.

01:17:19.000 --> 01:17:21.000
That's the only reason they're legit.

01:17:21.000 --> 01:17:22.000
That's what they point to.

01:17:22.000 --> 01:17:23.000
Everything they point to.

01:17:23.000 --> 01:17:24.000
And you want to argue them?

01:17:24.000 --> 01:17:25.000
It's like, look at our pedigree.

01:17:25.000 --> 01:17:26.000
Look at the names.

01:17:26.000 --> 01:17:27.000
We have a list of names.

01:17:27.000 --> 01:17:30.000
Here's a sheet with a list of names where so-and-so begat so-and-so, and so-and-so

01:17:31.000 --> 01:17:35.000
begat so-and-so begat so-and-so begat so-and-so.

01:17:35.000 --> 01:17:37.000
Where's your list?

01:17:37.000 --> 01:17:40.000
And I'm like, I don't know.

01:17:40.000 --> 01:17:45.000
And I don't have an ancestry.com that I can go and figure this out.

01:17:45.000 --> 01:17:48.000
It's like I was ordained by Pastor Anderson.

01:17:48.000 --> 01:17:51.000
He was ordained by Pastor Stephen Nichols.

01:17:51.000 --> 01:17:52.000
And then I asked him.

01:17:52.000 --> 01:17:54.000
I said, who ordained Pastor Stephen Nichols?

01:17:54.000 --> 01:17:57.000
And that's where our tree gets fuzzy.

01:17:57.000 --> 01:18:03.840
Because according to Pastor Anderson, he said that his pastor was sent out by a guy.

01:18:03.840 --> 01:18:08.720
He preached some really hard sermons, and then the guy refused to do a formal ordination

01:18:08.720 --> 01:18:10.460
for him.

01:18:10.460 --> 01:18:14.160
It's funny because then he did the exact same thing to Pastor Anderson.

01:18:14.160 --> 01:18:19.740
But according to Pastor Anderson, he said then he went to Jack Treber or something and

01:18:19.740 --> 01:18:22.780
got an extra ordination or something like that.

01:18:22.780 --> 01:18:27.300
And he said that he thinks that he was actually ordained maybe by his own dad at one point

01:18:27.300 --> 01:18:28.300
potentially.

01:18:28.300 --> 01:18:30.980
So I don't even know where to point.

01:18:30.980 --> 01:18:32.700
And I don't know where to point before that.

01:18:32.700 --> 01:18:35.100
I don't know where to go.

01:18:35.100 --> 01:18:37.820
But you know, I don't care.

01:18:37.820 --> 01:18:43.940
It's meaningless to me what that family tree actually looks like or how far it goes back.

01:18:43.940 --> 01:18:50.020
And look, there's Baptists today that have the exact same belief that the Catholic and

01:18:50.020 --> 01:18:55.740
the Orthodox do called Baptist brightest or landmark ism.

01:18:55.740 --> 01:18:56.740
Who's heard of this?

01:18:56.740 --> 01:19:02.620
OK, they'll get up and they'll say we have an unbroken chain of bishops that go all the

01:19:02.620 --> 01:19:03.620
way back to Peter.

01:19:03.620 --> 01:19:05.260
And that's why we're legit.

01:19:05.260 --> 01:19:11.340
So much so there are some Baptist churches that say if you didn't get baptized by me

01:19:11.340 --> 01:19:16.980
and my church, it's not even a legit baptism because you have to be ordained.

01:19:16.980 --> 01:19:22.860
You have to be baptized by someone that's been ordained by Peter through this succession

01:19:22.860 --> 01:19:23.860
ism.

01:19:23.860 --> 01:19:24.900
But here's the thing.

01:19:24.900 --> 01:19:30.300
The Catholics and the Orthodox kept meticulous records and their churches really kind of

01:19:30.300 --> 01:19:32.280
have lasted through the centuries.

01:19:32.280 --> 01:19:36.580
And so if you were to try and argue like they kind of seem to have, you know, something

01:19:36.580 --> 01:19:39.340
to point to the Baptist don't have this.

01:19:39.340 --> 01:19:43.620
OK, folks, so when they try to do it, it's weird.

01:19:43.700 --> 01:19:48.340
It is a weird scatter plot through history where they're pointing to all kinds of strange

01:19:48.340 --> 01:19:49.340
groups.

01:19:49.340 --> 01:19:52.580
Oh, well, here's the Waldensians and here's the Abigensians.

01:19:52.580 --> 01:19:56.280
And here's all these weird people for this trail of blood.

01:19:56.280 --> 01:20:00.020
And it's just you start looking into some of these groups and it's like groups you would

01:20:00.020 --> 01:20:01.420
never want anything to do with.

01:20:01.420 --> 01:20:03.680
It's like infant baptism.

01:20:03.680 --> 01:20:05.380
Their oneness heretics.

01:20:05.380 --> 01:20:09.420
It's like all of a sudden you're just like, that's who you want to point to.

01:20:09.420 --> 01:20:10.700
And this is what's funny to me.

01:20:10.700 --> 01:20:13.440
All to avoid pointing to the Protestant Reformation.

01:20:13.440 --> 01:20:15.940
They want to just basically say, well, we didn't come to the Protestant Reformation.

01:20:15.940 --> 01:20:18.820
We came from these oneness heretic cult leaders.

01:20:18.820 --> 01:20:21.100
And you're like, why is that even better?

01:20:21.100 --> 01:20:25.100
You know, like, why don't you just say the pedigree just doesn't matter?

01:20:25.100 --> 01:20:29.100
Why don't you just ignore and not really care about the pedigree?

01:20:29.100 --> 01:20:32.100
And they'll be like, oh, you came out of the Protestant Reformation.

01:20:32.100 --> 01:20:38.200
Yeah, well, I also came out of the non-denom church, but I'm not non-denom.

01:20:38.200 --> 01:20:42.380
Yeah, does it matter where people were at?

01:20:42.380 --> 01:20:48.320
If you lived in a country that Catholic Church is the only option and you're a quote Catholic,

01:20:48.320 --> 01:20:49.320
does that really matter?

01:20:49.320 --> 01:20:52.600
Does that label really matter if that's where you were from?

01:20:52.600 --> 01:20:54.960
In the same way, oh, you came from North Korea.

01:20:54.960 --> 01:20:58.720
I'm sure you have a weird background or a weird history.

01:20:58.720 --> 01:21:03.440
I guarantee there's plenty of saved people in Europe that said they were Catholic so

01:21:03.440 --> 01:21:05.920
they didn't get killed literally.

01:21:05.920 --> 01:21:09.760
Because if you didn't say that you're Catholic, they would just kill you.

01:21:09.760 --> 01:21:11.400
They would just murder you.

01:21:11.420 --> 01:21:15.500
So you don't think there were some people that were just like, yeah, I'm Catholic, bro.

01:21:15.500 --> 01:21:17.580
Yeah, I'm Orthodox or whatever.

01:21:17.580 --> 01:21:20.940
It's like they want to just avoid being slaughtered or being killed.

01:21:20.940 --> 01:21:25.860
So yeah, I'm sure that there was lots of people throughout Europe that gave lip service to

01:21:25.860 --> 01:21:29.180
being Catholic even though they were saved and they believed right.

01:21:29.180 --> 01:21:33.620
Well, but where was the new IFB church?

01:21:33.620 --> 01:21:36.000
It probably didn't exist.

01:21:36.000 --> 01:21:39.940
Just like there's no new IFB church in the middle of Africa right now, okay?

01:21:39.940 --> 01:21:43.360
There's no new IFB church in North Korea.

01:21:43.360 --> 01:21:45.440
There's no new IFB church in China.

01:21:45.440 --> 01:21:50.440
Yeah, there's different times and different seasons and different things that happened.

01:21:50.440 --> 01:21:56.440
Do we have to have a perfect unbroken chain of new IFB churches to be legitimate?

01:21:56.440 --> 01:21:59.640
It's false doctrine.

01:21:59.640 --> 01:22:01.240
It's not what the Bible teaches.

01:22:01.240 --> 01:22:02.240
It doesn't matter.

01:22:02.240 --> 01:22:07.160
Jesus had to come back where the priest succession failed, where the children of Israel failed

01:22:07.160 --> 01:22:09.080
and institute the New Testament.

01:22:09.220 --> 01:22:14.180
Okay, the Apostle Paul has happened to come to churches like Alisha and Revelation where

01:22:14.180 --> 01:22:18.380
they've gone so bad that they have to either get restarted.

01:22:18.380 --> 01:22:22.500
Plus you have these guys starting new churches all the time, starting churches everywhere.

01:22:22.500 --> 01:22:24.140
But churches can come and go.

01:22:24.140 --> 01:22:25.340
Churches can get good.

01:22:25.340 --> 01:22:26.340
Churches can get bad.

01:22:26.340 --> 01:22:30.460
And look, my personal opinion is that I think that churches today are better than they've

01:22:30.460 --> 01:22:31.460
ever been.

01:22:31.460 --> 01:22:33.200
That's my personal opinion.

01:22:33.200 --> 01:22:35.120
You can believe whatever you want.

01:22:35.120 --> 01:22:38.220
There's an idea out there called the Acts 2 church or whatever.

01:22:38.220 --> 01:22:43.160
They want to be like the Acts 2 church because they think it's the best.

01:22:43.160 --> 01:22:44.160
Why is that better?

01:22:44.160 --> 01:22:45.160
Why is that?

01:22:45.160 --> 01:22:49.280
I mean, Acts 2 church didn't have all the epistles that we have to read today and clean

01:22:49.280 --> 01:22:50.940
up some things in the church.

01:22:50.940 --> 01:22:58.660
Why would the Acts 2 church be so great when all the epistles written have severe problems?

01:22:58.660 --> 01:23:03.160
You know, do you really read Corinthians and you think like, man, I wish I could go to

01:23:03.160 --> 01:23:04.160
that church.

01:23:05.160 --> 01:23:09.120
I wish I could go to the church where many of the people didn't believe in the resurrection,

01:23:09.120 --> 01:23:13.520
where people are suing each other, where they're having this weird Lord's Supper thing that's

01:23:13.520 --> 01:23:14.520
going on.

01:23:14.520 --> 01:23:20.280
There's a guy in the church that has his father's wife and they're refusing to kick him out.

01:23:20.280 --> 01:23:23.640
I mean, is that, you're just like, man, why can't we have that church to go to?

01:23:23.640 --> 01:23:24.640
Right?

01:23:24.640 --> 01:23:28.720
Oh, why can't we have the church in Asia where there's a woman named Jezebel going around

01:23:28.720 --> 01:23:32.000
teaching people to commit fornication?

01:23:32.000 --> 01:23:33.400
Like why can't we have that church?

01:23:33.640 --> 01:23:37.200
Look, I'm not saying there weren't awesome Christians at that time.

01:23:37.200 --> 01:23:39.560
I'm not saying they didn't have some good services here and there.

01:23:39.560 --> 01:23:43.040
What I'm saying is over time, I think things have gotten better.

01:23:43.040 --> 01:23:45.080
You know what proves whether it's good or not?

01:23:45.080 --> 01:23:47.520
If it's going according to as it's written.

01:23:47.520 --> 01:23:54.620
Now we see in Hezekiah and Josiah's day, the Bible says that when they performed the Passover,

01:23:54.620 --> 01:23:57.660
it was the best that the Passover had ever been performed.

01:23:57.660 --> 01:23:58.920
And then it says why?

01:23:58.920 --> 01:24:00.460
Because it was done as it was written.

01:24:00.460 --> 01:24:04.700
And it says it was not done like this for a long time, meaning that the tradition of

01:24:04.700 --> 01:24:09.820
the Passover was not that great for hundreds and hundreds of years for a long time.

01:24:09.820 --> 01:24:12.180
And then they got it even better.

01:24:12.180 --> 01:24:17.760
And they performed the best Passover's that had ever been observed being hundreds of years

01:24:17.760 --> 01:24:22.760
or centuries away from when it was originally given the instructions to do so.

01:24:22.760 --> 01:24:27.180
So why would I then think that we couldn't even being removed centuries and hundreds

01:24:27.740 --> 01:24:31.420
from the time that these things are written, not have some of the best churches and the

01:24:31.420 --> 01:24:33.540
greatest churches that have ever existed?

01:24:33.540 --> 01:24:34.900
We could.

01:24:34.900 --> 01:24:38.060
There's nothing doctrinally in the Bible teaching that we can't.

01:24:38.060 --> 01:24:41.340
There's nothing in the Bible saying that, well, back then they had great churches and

01:24:41.340 --> 01:24:43.540
today, you know, it's not like it used to be.

01:24:43.540 --> 01:24:47.340
This is again, this is like 1950s arguments, like, oh, the economy was super amazing in

01:24:47.340 --> 01:24:48.820
the 1950s.

01:24:48.820 --> 01:24:52.300
And today it's horrific and it's awful and nobody can afford anything.

01:24:52.540 --> 01:24:57.860
And it's like, look, how many people in the 1950s had a three car garage, a 3000 square

01:24:57.860 --> 01:25:03.100
foot home, had two cars, had a cell phone where they could talk to anybody in the world?

01:25:03.100 --> 01:25:07.860
Like, this is comparing apples to oranges.

01:25:07.860 --> 01:25:10.300
It's not even kind of the same.

01:25:10.300 --> 01:25:14.420
And, you know, I'm fine admitting that we're new.

01:25:14.420 --> 01:25:18.820
Oh, well, there's never been a church like y'all in the past.

01:25:18.820 --> 01:25:22.100
OK, maybe it's better.

01:25:22.140 --> 01:25:25.060
If we're doing something wrong, according to the Bible, then tell us and we'll change

01:25:25.060 --> 01:25:26.060
that.

01:25:26.220 --> 01:25:30.340
It's like, where was the church going to have an anti-Israel conference in the 60s or the

01:25:30.340 --> 01:25:32.940
70s? I don't know.

01:25:32.940 --> 01:25:34.140
But we're going to have one.

01:25:34.140 --> 01:25:35.780
You know what I mean?

01:25:35.780 --> 01:25:36.900
Like, it's OK.

01:25:36.900 --> 01:25:39.300
It's OK for some things to get better.

01:25:39.300 --> 01:25:42.580
It's OK. I mean, you don't think with technology, we can get some things better.

01:25:42.580 --> 01:25:45.420
You don't think with the printing press, church get a little bit better when everybody

01:25:45.420 --> 01:25:46.780
could have a Bible.

01:25:46.780 --> 01:25:50.860
You don't think that the King James Bible is a little bit better than having just

01:25:50.900 --> 01:25:55.020
handfuls of manuscripts and parchments that you have to kind of decipher and interpret

01:25:55.020 --> 01:25:55.940
for yourself.

01:25:55.940 --> 01:25:59.220
You don't think it's better to have the Internet where you can go online and learn about

01:25:59.220 --> 01:26:03.820
and read about anything you want and having cars and telephones and

01:26:04.100 --> 01:26:07.260
AI. I mean, AI now should make you better, not worse.

01:26:08.460 --> 01:26:10.580
You can learn so much more.

01:26:10.580 --> 01:26:13.820
Like, it's silly to think that churches can't get better over time.

01:26:14.780 --> 01:26:16.740
And why would God even want that doctrine anyways?

01:26:16.820 --> 01:26:21.380
Why would God want at a time when we have more humans on the earth than ever before

01:26:21.380 --> 01:26:25.820
for him to say, man, isn't it a shame that now that we have more Christians than ever

01:26:25.820 --> 01:26:28.420
before on the earth, that church has to suck?

01:26:29.460 --> 01:26:33.180
That there couldn't be a good option, that we can't actually serve God well, because

01:26:33.180 --> 01:26:37.380
look, there's eight billion people on the planet, even if only three or five percent

01:26:37.380 --> 01:26:38.700
of the population is saved.

01:26:38.700 --> 01:26:42.660
That's still way more people that are saved than ever before in the history.

01:26:43.180 --> 01:26:44.420
And time's passed.

01:26:44.420 --> 01:26:48.220
And yet God wants there to be good churches and God wants us to worship him and honor

01:26:48.380 --> 01:26:51.060
him. And you say, oh, well, the Protestant Reformation was new.

01:26:51.580 --> 01:26:53.700
Like, I don't care about these arguments.

01:26:53.900 --> 01:26:56.380
Even if it was new, it doesn't prove that it's wrong.

01:26:56.700 --> 01:26:58.340
Sometimes things have to reform.

01:26:58.340 --> 01:26:59.380
Some things have to repent.

01:26:59.380 --> 01:27:00.820
Some things have to get corrected.

01:27:00.940 --> 01:27:03.460
Some things have to be drugged back in the right direction.

01:27:04.220 --> 01:27:07.780
It does not just because it's new doesn't mean it's bad.

01:27:08.300 --> 01:27:09.820
Case in point, New Testament.

01:27:10.460 --> 01:27:11.900
Now, I had you turn to Galatians.

01:27:12.420 --> 01:27:15.740
You know, one of the things that's really important to distinguish, and I'm not going

01:27:15.740 --> 01:27:19.820
to go through all the doctrine because it doesn't really I mean, it's pretty quick.

01:27:20.100 --> 01:27:27.220
But according to the Orthodox Church, they teach that salvation is called theosis.

01:27:28.660 --> 01:27:30.620
Theosis is the idea that you become God.

01:27:32.140 --> 01:27:34.700
How much more do I have to explain that there's their doctrines wrong?

01:27:34.780 --> 01:27:41.660
OK, here's like like here's some quotes, OK, that they will say.

01:27:42.020 --> 01:27:46.540
About salvation for the son of God became man so that we might become God.

01:27:49.100 --> 01:27:52.780
Or more literally, God became man that man might become God.

01:27:53.300 --> 01:27:55.300
That's a quote that they will give lip service to.

01:27:55.740 --> 01:27:57.300
Here's another quote.

01:27:57.300 --> 01:28:01.580
Let us become as Christ is, since Christ became as we are.

01:28:01.780 --> 01:28:05.940
Let us become gods for his sake, since he became man for our sake.

01:28:06.940 --> 01:28:09.220
And these are quotes from.

01:28:10.100 --> 01:28:14.260
The second, third, fourth century from these people.

01:28:15.180 --> 01:28:18.260
That then they're saying, yeah, that's what we believe becoming a god.

01:28:18.620 --> 01:28:19.660
That's called Mormonism.

01:28:20.660 --> 01:28:25.220
Now, again, I think the Mormons, if you read this, they take it to a bigger extreme

01:28:25.740 --> 01:28:29.420
than the Orthodox, but the language that they're using is horrific.

01:28:29.420 --> 01:28:30.300
It's satanic.

01:28:30.300 --> 01:28:33.460
It's evil, has nothing to do with salvation.

01:28:34.180 --> 01:28:38.540
They literally think that you have to become like God on this earth to get saved.

01:28:39.020 --> 01:28:42.500
You have to basically get rid of all your sins and you have to go to church

01:28:42.500 --> 01:28:45.740
and you have to follow all the sacraments and you have to do all this stuff to be saved.

01:28:46.140 --> 01:28:48.980
You could be baptized in the in the Orthodox Church.

01:28:49.260 --> 01:28:50.660
You could be doing the sacraments.

01:28:50.660 --> 01:28:52.100
You could be eating the Eucharist.

01:28:52.100 --> 01:28:54.980
You'd be attending the service for decades after decades after decades.

01:28:54.980 --> 01:28:57.180
And then you quit, not saved.

01:28:57.860 --> 01:29:00.620
And they'll be like, oh, we don't believe in works.

01:29:00.620 --> 01:29:03.340
We believe in faith working through your works.

01:29:03.780 --> 01:29:10.580
And then again, it's just it's a it's a hardcore extreme work salvation.

01:29:12.180 --> 01:29:14.700
Now, Galatians two, what does the Bible say in verse 16?

01:29:14.700 --> 01:29:17.380
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law,

01:29:17.780 --> 01:29:21.300
but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ,

01:29:21.460 --> 01:29:25.380
that we might be justified by the faith of Christ and not by the works of the law,

01:29:25.580 --> 01:29:28.540
but by the works of the law, shall no flesh be justified.

01:29:28.660 --> 01:29:32.420
But if while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners,

01:29:32.420 --> 01:29:34.140
is therefore Christ the minister of sin.

01:29:34.140 --> 01:29:36.180
God forbid. Skip down to verse 21.

01:29:36.180 --> 01:29:39.140
I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law,

01:29:39.140 --> 01:29:40.220
then Christ is dead in vain.

01:29:40.220 --> 01:29:45.340
Jesus is saying that and Paul is saying here specifically that,

01:29:45.820 --> 01:29:47.820
you know, if salvation were by the works of the law,

01:29:47.820 --> 01:29:49.380
then Christ didn't accomplish anything.

01:29:52.260 --> 01:29:54.940
Christ did accomplish something, you know, he accomplished everything.

01:29:55.540 --> 01:29:56.980
Jesus paid it all.

01:29:56.980 --> 01:29:58.740
That's the whole point of the cross.

01:29:58.740 --> 01:30:02.260
Any of these works based religions that the cross is meaningless.

01:30:02.700 --> 01:30:06.700
Because they say, well, you got to you got to take up your cross to be saved.

01:30:06.940 --> 01:30:08.380
No, you don't take up your cross to be saved.

01:30:08.380 --> 01:30:09.300
That's being a disciple.

01:30:10.620 --> 01:30:12.260
Few will be disciples.

01:30:12.260 --> 01:30:14.860
More will be saved in the grand scheme.

01:30:14.860 --> 01:30:16.020
Very few will even be saved.

01:30:16.020 --> 01:30:19.940
Why? Because the Catholics and the Orthodox teach a false religion,

01:30:19.940 --> 01:30:22.460
a false gospel, a works based salvation,

01:30:22.460 --> 01:30:24.740
and they think you have to eat the Eucharist to be saved.

01:30:24.740 --> 01:30:27.580
The Eucharist, again, is their version of communion of the Lord's Supper,

01:30:28.140 --> 01:30:30.100
where they eat the cracker and the juice.

01:30:30.100 --> 01:30:33.140
And they say it literally becomes Jesus' body and blood.

01:30:34.700 --> 01:30:38.180
And and when I say literally, they they're saying it's literally.

01:30:39.180 --> 01:30:43.380
His body and not just like the arm, his whole body,

01:30:43.700 --> 01:30:47.220
you're eating a whole Jesus every time you have the Eucharist,

01:30:47.820 --> 01:30:51.900
which scientifically, it's still bread inside their belly.

01:30:52.620 --> 01:30:54.820
If they threw up, they would throw up bread.

01:30:54.820 --> 01:30:55.940
It wouldn't be blood.

01:30:55.940 --> 01:30:58.220
And, you know, to me, this cheapens everything about the Bible,

01:30:58.420 --> 01:31:02.300
because when Moses turned the water into blood, I believe it was literal blood.

01:31:03.100 --> 01:31:04.580
But their juice stays juice.

01:31:04.580 --> 01:31:06.660
And it's alcoholic. It's wine.

01:31:06.660 --> 01:31:09.740
It's an alcoholic beverage that the Catholics and the Orthodox will typically drink.

01:31:10.780 --> 01:31:12.740
The cracker is still a cracker.

01:31:12.740 --> 01:31:15.180
How can you then believe the miracles of the Bible when you're sitting here

01:31:15.180 --> 01:31:18.140
claiming it's it's turning into a person when it really doesn't?

01:31:19.060 --> 01:31:21.420
And if it really doesn't, then couldn't you just say it's symbolic?

01:31:23.020 --> 01:31:24.820
But they don't want to say it's symbolic.

01:31:24.820 --> 01:31:26.700
They want to say it's literally happening,

01:31:26.700 --> 01:31:29.220
even though it's not literally happening.

01:31:29.220 --> 01:31:32.020
You don't understand the word literal.

01:31:32.020 --> 01:31:34.500
It's either really becoming Jesus or it's not.

01:31:34.620 --> 01:31:38.140
And if it's not physiologically changing into Jesus, then quit teaching that.

01:31:38.620 --> 01:31:40.660
It's false doctrine. It's blasphemous.

01:31:40.660 --> 01:31:43.420
And, you know, the Bible made it clear that Jesus was going to die once.

01:31:44.380 --> 01:31:46.380
So you sitting here eating him again.

01:31:46.380 --> 01:31:49.220
It's like trying to kill him again. Being a cannibal.

01:31:49.380 --> 01:31:51.340
The Bible forbids drinking blood.

01:31:51.340 --> 01:31:54.660
Why in the world would you sit here and literally drink Jesus's blood

01:31:54.740 --> 01:31:56.780
and literally eat his body?

01:31:56.780 --> 01:31:58.780
It's bizarre. It's weird.

01:31:58.780 --> 01:32:01.180
It's confusing. It's cannibalism.

01:32:01.180 --> 01:32:02.660
It's blasphemy.

01:32:02.660 --> 01:32:05.060
And again, that's what these groups say you have to do to be saved.

01:32:06.260 --> 01:32:08.740
If you're not partaking, you will not be saved.

01:32:09.300 --> 01:32:11.420
But look, Galatians chapter three, verse one,

01:32:11.420 --> 01:32:13.460
Oh, foolish Galatians who have bewitched you,

01:32:13.460 --> 01:32:15.540
they should not obey the truth before whose eyes Jesus Christ

01:32:15.540 --> 01:32:17.620
has been evidently set forth, crucified among you.

01:32:17.620 --> 01:32:22.220
If a church that was ordained by the Apostle Paul,

01:32:22.940 --> 01:32:26.980
formed by the Apostle Paul, perfect apostolic succession,

01:32:26.980 --> 01:32:31.820
perfect pedigree can go bad on the gospel in the first century.

01:32:31.860 --> 01:32:35.300
Why would I not think that a church two thousand years removed

01:32:35.380 --> 01:32:37.860
couldn't possibly go bad on the gospel?

01:32:37.860 --> 01:32:38.700
Of course they could.

01:32:38.700 --> 01:32:41.380
And of course, the Catholics and the Orthodox have always been wrong

01:32:41.620 --> 01:32:43.140
on the gospel.

01:32:43.140 --> 01:32:45.940
And just like the Jews went bad

01:32:46.220 --> 01:32:50.820
and just like the priesthood of Zadok went bad, tradition means nothing.

01:32:50.820 --> 01:32:54.540
They continue their works based tradition and it's false doctrine.

01:32:54.540 --> 01:32:58.460
We care about what the Bible says, not what is apostolic succession.

01:32:58.900 --> 01:33:00.820
This is a proof of another church is going bad.

01:33:00.820 --> 01:33:03.420
Chapter four, verse nine.

01:33:03.940 --> 01:33:07.100
But now, after that, you have known God or rather known of God.

01:33:07.220 --> 01:33:09.300
How turn you again to the weak and beggarly elements

01:33:09.300 --> 01:33:11.540
where until you desire again to be in bondage, you observe days

01:33:11.540 --> 01:33:12.740
and months and times and years.

01:33:12.740 --> 01:33:16.020
I'm afraid of you, lest I bestowed upon you labor and vain.

01:33:16.020 --> 01:33:19.820
He said, I'm afraid that this church is just bad and was always bad

01:33:19.980 --> 01:33:22.100
and that all the work I did was meaningless.

01:33:22.100 --> 01:33:25.220
And look, the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church is meaningless.

01:33:27.380 --> 01:33:29.900
Go to first, some of the forms, two more places we're going to finish.

01:33:31.260 --> 01:33:33.580
They have another thing now that this is kind of a difference.

01:33:33.740 --> 01:33:35.940
Obviously, there's some differences in some of their doctrines,

01:33:35.940 --> 01:33:38.460
but for the most part, it doesn't matter because they both teach work salvation.

01:33:38.940 --> 01:33:41.660
And that's all that that's enough for me to be done with them.

01:33:43.140 --> 01:33:46.300
The Roman Catholic Church is really in idolatry.

01:33:46.740 --> 01:33:50.100
OK, they have graven images everywhere.

01:33:50.100 --> 01:33:51.740
They worship graven images.

01:33:51.740 --> 01:33:53.780
They bow down to graven images.

01:33:53.780 --> 01:33:55.860
They'll kiss graven images.

01:33:55.860 --> 01:33:58.540
The Orthodox don't have idolatry per se,

01:33:59.020 --> 01:34:01.340
but they have this thing called icons.

01:34:01.340 --> 01:34:04.020
And so they don't have a 3D image.

01:34:04.340 --> 01:34:05.820
They have 2D images.

01:34:05.820 --> 01:34:08.540
OK, so all of their stuff is pictures

01:34:09.060 --> 01:34:10.940
and they'll have them all over the walls.

01:34:10.940 --> 01:34:15.700
And and they have specific pictures that are like, this is our icon.

01:34:15.740 --> 01:34:17.780
They have like a picture. This is Jesus.

01:34:17.780 --> 01:34:20.140
And it's like when you're performing the Eucharist or in there

01:34:20.260 --> 01:34:23.460
doing their liturgies or whatever, they have to be like looking at the eye.

01:34:23.500 --> 01:34:26.620
They have to look at the icons, you know, they have to stare at the icons.

01:34:26.620 --> 01:34:28.820
And it's really special.

01:34:28.820 --> 01:34:30.820
They have this one of the Trinity

01:34:30.820 --> 01:34:33.340
where it's three guys sitting at a table that all look the same.

01:34:34.260 --> 01:34:37.420
OK, and then and then people try to say that they don't believe,

01:34:37.420 --> 01:34:39.220
you know, like us in the Trinity, whatever.

01:34:39.220 --> 01:34:41.380
That's one of their icons.

01:34:41.380 --> 01:34:43.460
They have a literal icon of three angels.

01:34:43.500 --> 01:34:46.220
But again, their Jesus has long hair.

01:34:46.220 --> 01:34:48.220
Their Trinity has long hair.

01:34:48.220 --> 01:34:50.380
Your icon is false.

01:34:50.380 --> 01:34:54.300
And I'm sorry, but they're like Jesus is not this.

01:34:54.300 --> 01:34:57.540
Their icon, Jesus looks kind of retarded.

01:34:57.540 --> 01:35:02.180
All right. He's like he's got this like weird looking eye thing going on or whatever.

01:35:02.500 --> 01:35:05.060
And it's like the Bible says that Jesus had no blemish.

01:35:06.100 --> 01:35:09.540
It's wicked. Look, who would like it

01:35:09.700 --> 01:35:12.100
if I just found some cross eyed weirdo?

01:35:13.100 --> 01:35:16.900
And put a picture of it everywhere in your house and said, this is you.

01:35:20.180 --> 01:35:22.660
Like some bad AI rendering of you,

01:35:22.780 --> 01:35:26.820
making you look like a little special needs or whatever when you're not.

01:35:27.100 --> 01:35:29.900
And it's just like, that's that's mean and degrading.

01:35:30.260 --> 01:35:33.340
And then they have to stare at that while they're worshipping you or whatever.

01:35:33.620 --> 01:35:36.420
It's weird. That's what the Orthodox Church does.

01:35:36.660 --> 01:35:39.500
The Orthodox Church doesn't have chairs. You have to stand low service.

01:35:40.500 --> 01:35:42.420
And guess what? It's two hours, folks.

01:35:42.940 --> 01:35:44.580
Our pastor, he preaches so long.

01:35:44.580 --> 01:35:48.660
It was 1030 to a little after noon sometimes.

01:35:48.860 --> 01:35:50.820
That's not two hours.

01:35:50.820 --> 01:35:53.260
It has been, but it's not.

01:35:53.260 --> 01:35:56.820
And you're getting to sit. OK, folks, they have to stand.

01:35:58.420 --> 01:36:00.020
How many people are ready to be Orthodox now?

01:36:00.020 --> 01:36:01.340
You know what I mean?

01:36:01.340 --> 01:36:04.500
They'll stand for two hours while they sing.

01:36:04.500 --> 01:36:08.780
And again, they they do read some of the Bible in their services,

01:36:09.220 --> 01:36:11.500
but they don't read the Old Testament.

01:36:11.500 --> 01:36:13.900
Just an epistle, maybe some maybe some Psalms.

01:36:13.900 --> 01:36:16.260
OK, but like they're not going to read the law.

01:36:16.260 --> 01:36:17.780
They're not going to read the Bible stories.

01:36:17.780 --> 01:36:20.740
They have a 15 minute homily.

01:36:20.740 --> 01:36:24.980
It's not going to be spicy, although you read some of the church fathers

01:36:24.980 --> 01:36:28.180
in times past, John Christostome, he had some good writings.

01:36:28.180 --> 01:36:30.940
I wish he would show up to the Orthodox Church and preach for them.

01:36:30.940 --> 01:36:34.100
OK, even if he wasn't saved, it would just scare all of them away.

01:36:35.500 --> 01:36:37.340
But at the end of the day, like

01:36:37.340 --> 01:36:39.180
their services are weird.

01:36:39.180 --> 01:36:40.380
And this is what it is.

01:36:40.380 --> 01:36:42.780
It's just basically just a cult, folks,

01:36:43.700 --> 01:36:48.100
because it's it's just chance, just chance over and over,

01:36:48.180 --> 01:36:49.380
repetition over and over.

01:36:49.380 --> 01:36:51.700
God, we miss me a sinner.

01:36:51.700 --> 01:36:53.780
God, we miss me a sinner.

01:36:53.780 --> 01:36:55.700
Stare at the picture.

01:36:55.700 --> 01:36:57.460
God, we miss me a sinner.

01:36:57.460 --> 01:36:59.820
Give me a cracker. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

01:36:59.820 --> 01:37:01.300
Give me a cracker.

01:37:01.300 --> 01:37:03.300
Jesus, God, we miss me a sinner.

01:37:03.300 --> 01:37:05.540
God, we miss me a sinner.

01:37:05.580 --> 01:37:07.660
That turns people into brain dead zombies.

01:37:07.940 --> 01:37:10.340
And let me tell you something, the followers of these religions

01:37:10.340 --> 01:37:11.900
are brain dead zombies.

01:37:11.900 --> 01:37:16.220
Yeah. If you get sucked into this long enough to be a brain dead zombie.

01:37:16.420 --> 01:37:18.700
And look, a lot of young men are turning into the Orthodox.

01:37:19.300 --> 01:37:23.900
Why? Because it's it's a form of self-discipline to do these things, right?

01:37:24.140 --> 01:37:27.220
Wouldn't it be a form of self-discipline to just stand for two hours?

01:37:27.980 --> 01:37:31.420
And it's a form of self-discipline to just do a chant over and over and over again.

01:37:31.700 --> 01:37:33.900
And, you know, it reminds these guys of working out,

01:37:34.300 --> 01:37:36.180
because working out, you do reps.

01:37:36.180 --> 01:37:38.540
You're just doing, you know, you're just doing reps.

01:37:38.660 --> 01:37:39.820
You're just doing lots of reps.

01:37:39.820 --> 01:37:41.540
You're doing 100 push ups or whatever.

01:37:41.540 --> 01:37:45.060
So to them, that's what they're using the Orthodox Church for.

01:37:45.420 --> 01:37:47.820
They think it's like working out spiritually.

01:37:47.940 --> 01:37:50.100
It's like God, we miss me a sinner.

01:37:50.100 --> 01:37:51.980
God, we miss me a sinner.

01:37:51.980 --> 01:37:53.740
God, we miss me a sinner.

01:37:53.740 --> 01:37:56.140
You know, but let me tell you something, you're accomplishing

01:37:56.140 --> 01:37:58.740
nothing spiritually by doing this.

01:37:58.740 --> 01:37:59.900
Keep the workout.

01:37:59.900 --> 01:38:02.900
Get rid of your fake Orthodox religion.

01:38:03.660 --> 01:38:05.300
It's trash.

01:38:05.300 --> 01:38:08.860
And of course, the Orthodox Church isn't going to get up and rip on doctrines.

01:38:08.860 --> 01:38:11.940
So it's easy to just show up and just do the rituals.

01:38:12.260 --> 01:38:14.620
Oh, we're Orthodox. Oh, we have the tradition.

01:38:14.620 --> 01:38:16.700
Oh, you know why they don't preach the Bible?

01:38:17.380 --> 01:38:19.860
Well, they don't need to. They already got everything right.

01:38:20.620 --> 01:38:22.260
We already have a tradition.

01:38:22.260 --> 01:38:23.220
Are you going to change anything?

01:38:23.220 --> 01:38:24.380
No, we can't change anything.

01:38:24.380 --> 01:38:25.340
We've already got it locked in.

01:38:25.340 --> 01:38:27.820
We already do it. We're just God, we miss me a sinner.

01:38:28.340 --> 01:38:29.340
Come out of the Eucharist.

01:38:29.340 --> 01:38:31.300
We already got it locked in.

01:38:31.300 --> 01:38:33.460
Here's another reason why they don't want to actually read the Bible,

01:38:33.700 --> 01:38:36.620
because then you start being like, wait, where's any of this in the Bible?

01:38:37.700 --> 01:38:39.580
Where's the icon in the Bible?

01:38:39.580 --> 01:38:42.140
Oh, yeah, it doesn't exist.

01:38:42.140 --> 01:38:45.380
Where is that, you know, infant baptism?

01:38:45.380 --> 01:38:47.180
Oh, yeah, it doesn't exist.

01:38:47.180 --> 01:38:48.740
Where's your works based salvation?

01:38:48.740 --> 01:38:49.820
Oh, yeah, it doesn't exist.

01:38:49.820 --> 01:38:52.180
So then they have to quote church fathers that are heretics

01:38:52.500 --> 01:38:54.100
in order to prop it up.

01:38:54.740 --> 01:38:57.580
And they don't want you to question anything because they already got it right.

01:38:57.660 --> 01:39:01.780
And they say, how dare you try to use the Bible over our tradition?

01:39:02.260 --> 01:39:03.780
We already got it locked in.

01:39:03.780 --> 01:39:05.900
You can't you don't understand the Bible.

01:39:05.900 --> 01:39:06.740
You know why they say that?

01:39:06.740 --> 01:39:08.700
Because the Bible contradicts their tradition.

01:39:09.340 --> 01:39:13.780
So they have to reject the word of God to keep their own tradition.

01:39:13.900 --> 01:39:15.860
And it is a glorified cult.

01:39:15.860 --> 01:39:19.180
Just you can't even sit down, stand up and shut up.

01:39:19.820 --> 01:39:21.740
Eat the cracker. Go home.

01:39:23.260 --> 01:39:25.300
Here's the worst part about being Orthodox, though,

01:39:25.860 --> 01:39:29.220
if I haven't already sold you all right.

01:39:29.220 --> 01:39:31.780
They have 180 to 200 days a year.

01:39:31.780 --> 01:39:35.820
They have to fast and have a vegan style diet.

01:39:37.500 --> 01:39:41.140
180 to 200 days a year.

01:39:42.700 --> 01:39:43.540
It's insane.

01:39:43.540 --> 01:39:46.580
Wednesdays and Fridays year round.

01:39:47.580 --> 01:39:49.500
You have to have this great lent.

01:39:49.500 --> 01:39:50.340
You just can't eat.

01:39:50.340 --> 01:39:51.940
That's why they have fish Fridays.

01:39:51.940 --> 01:39:53.420
It's like, man, Friday is date night.

01:39:53.420 --> 01:39:55.180
I'm not going to do that.

01:39:55.740 --> 01:39:58.500
And Wednesdays, you know, after Wednesdays, I usually get a burger.

01:39:59.500 --> 01:40:02.420
I'm not changing that. All right.

01:40:02.420 --> 01:40:08.500
This means no meat, dairy, eggs, oil or wine during those periods.

01:40:08.500 --> 01:40:11.700
It's a strict plant based diet during those periods.

01:40:14.780 --> 01:40:16.460
Oh, wait, what is what is first,

01:40:16.460 --> 01:40:19.980
Timothy, chapter number four actually teach in the Bible?

01:40:20.260 --> 01:40:22.540
Now, the spirit speak of expressly that in the latter time,

01:40:22.540 --> 01:40:25.940
some should depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits

01:40:25.940 --> 01:40:29.580
and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy,

01:40:29.700 --> 01:40:33.580
having their conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry

01:40:34.020 --> 01:40:37.580
and commanding to abstain from meats, which God has created

01:40:37.580 --> 01:40:40.180
to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

01:40:41.780 --> 01:40:43.500
You want to know who this verse is about?

01:40:43.500 --> 01:40:47.940
It's about the Orthodox who teach celibacy in many cases,

01:40:48.100 --> 01:40:52.420
and they teach that you have to have this 180 to 200 day

01:40:52.540 --> 01:40:56.060
vegan style diet, avoiding all kinds of meats.

01:40:56.460 --> 01:40:59.660
Why do you think the Mediterranean diet is subpar, folks?

01:41:00.860 --> 01:41:04.020
You know, and I'm sorry, I'm offensive in that pinching.

01:41:04.780 --> 01:41:09.380
I'm saying that it has it has a limited cuisine in many cases.

01:41:09.580 --> 01:41:12.020
The Mediterranean diet is very different.

01:41:12.580 --> 01:41:14.980
Where's all the steak?

01:41:16.020 --> 01:41:18.020
Why don't they think about it?

01:41:18.020 --> 01:41:20.060
Why is it that they don't have tons of meat?

01:41:20.060 --> 01:41:22.620
Why are they having the goats and the sheep and all this kind of stuff?

01:41:22.980 --> 01:41:25.020
You think about it, if you can't have dairy all the time,

01:41:25.260 --> 01:41:28.580
if you can't have this meat all the time, well, then you're not going

01:41:28.580 --> 01:41:31.860
to be able to have cows all the time, because if you're not eating it, it

01:41:32.260 --> 01:41:34.140
it dies, it kills itself.

01:41:34.140 --> 01:41:36.940
You run out of stock where there's good doctrine.

01:41:37.020 --> 01:41:38.060
There's going to be good food.

01:41:38.060 --> 01:41:38.900
And I know I'm really offensive.

01:41:38.900 --> 01:41:40.260
This is my personal opinion, right?

01:41:40.260 --> 01:41:42.700
We're about to have a barbecue brisket meal.

01:41:44.180 --> 01:41:45.620
But some people love Mediterranean food.

01:41:45.620 --> 01:41:49.620
I'm not mad at you, but I'm just saying if you look at cuisines, they're different.

01:41:49.860 --> 01:41:50.940
Why are they different?

01:41:50.940 --> 01:41:52.420
It's doctrine.

01:41:52.420 --> 01:41:56.500
It is the doctrine that is making these things different in many cases,

01:41:56.660 --> 01:41:57.940
especially in today's world.

01:41:57.940 --> 01:41:59.420
In times past, I get it.

01:41:59.420 --> 01:42:02.020
Certain areas, certain cultures didn't have certain foods.

01:42:02.260 --> 01:42:04.340
So they're limited by their geography.

01:42:04.340 --> 01:42:08.580
But in today's world, in many cases, it's doctrinally related.

01:42:09.020 --> 01:42:11.660
There is a doctrinal significance to food.

01:42:12.140 --> 01:42:15.780
Why is God using food for all kinds of different examples?

01:42:16.060 --> 01:42:18.420
Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.

01:42:18.460 --> 01:42:19.860
Oh, it's not it's not the bread.

01:42:19.860 --> 01:42:20.660
I get it.

01:42:20.660 --> 01:42:24.100
But at the end of the day, the bread will be different in these places.

01:42:24.300 --> 01:42:26.900
The Bible talks about the bread of affliction.

01:42:27.060 --> 01:42:29.420
The Bible talks about the bread of wickedness.

01:42:29.780 --> 01:42:31.940
The Bible talks about the bread of idleness.

01:42:32.220 --> 01:42:35.660
And let me tell you something, breads are not all equal on this planet.

01:42:36.820 --> 01:42:40.060
And let me tell you something, whatever you believe will affect your doctrine.

01:42:40.060 --> 01:42:42.820
Notice people are commanded to abstain from certain meats.

01:42:43.140 --> 01:42:45.780
You go to certain parts of the world, certain cuisines,

01:42:45.940 --> 01:42:47.900
and they're going to be very, very different.

01:42:48.460 --> 01:42:50.580
Why? Because of the religious practices.

01:42:50.980 --> 01:42:52.340
And this is why I'm mad.

01:42:52.340 --> 01:42:56.700
I'm just still mad because I would go to a barbecue restaurant in Texas

01:42:57.340 --> 01:43:00.100
on Friday and they said we have no beef.

01:43:02.060 --> 01:43:05.700
I'm not joking. I went into a barbecue restaurant

01:43:06.140 --> 01:43:08.100
and it was like you can only have catfish.

01:43:09.460 --> 01:43:11.300
Why? Because everybody there was Catholic.

01:43:12.380 --> 01:43:14.340
And just still makes me mad. All right.

01:43:14.740 --> 01:43:16.260
I'm still mad about it.

01:43:16.300 --> 01:43:19.260
And I'm just like, you know, then I had to leave and go somewhere else.

01:43:19.260 --> 01:43:20.500
I didn't stay.

01:43:20.500 --> 01:43:23.260
I'm not going to stay and support that junk hole.

01:43:23.500 --> 01:43:25.860
And of course, it failed and it should fail.

01:43:26.140 --> 01:43:30.100
But at the end of the day, it's like doctrine matters.

01:43:30.940 --> 01:43:32.460
Go to Act 17. We'll finish there.

01:43:32.460 --> 01:43:34.620
Go to Act chapter 17.

01:43:39.460 --> 01:43:43.500
God caused people to go into the land flowing with milk and honey.

01:43:44.420 --> 01:43:45.820
Why? Because it's good.

01:43:45.820 --> 01:43:48.460
Now, again, I get goats have milk and I get goats have meat.

01:43:48.740 --> 01:43:50.580
And there's a lot of people that are goat farmers.

01:43:50.580 --> 01:43:52.860
Sheep, obviously, also are good for meat.

01:43:53.220 --> 01:43:54.980
There's nothing wrong with these things.

01:43:54.980 --> 01:43:58.100
But at the end of the day, you know, the vast majority of sacrifices

01:43:58.100 --> 01:43:59.620
were in the Old Testament.

01:44:00.380 --> 01:44:03.020
Cattle, it was heifers, it was oxen.

01:44:03.220 --> 01:44:05.820
When you look at the sheer volume, you should get the sheer number.

01:44:06.380 --> 01:44:10.660
It'll have way more oxen slaughtered than it will have of the other animals.

01:44:10.820 --> 01:44:14.060
And look, an ox being slaughtered is so much more meat.

01:44:14.300 --> 01:44:19.060
I mean, the amount of meat on an ox or a cow is just so much more.

01:44:19.220 --> 01:44:22.100
I mean, how can you read the Bible and not want to eat beef?

01:44:23.020 --> 01:44:25.700
I mean, it's just like it's just cows everywhere.

01:44:26.260 --> 01:44:27.820
I mean, there's a cow here, cow there.

01:44:27.820 --> 01:44:30.700
Even Jesus in the Book of Genesis is eating cow. All right.

01:44:32.100 --> 01:44:36.020
You know, Abraham is coming, the calf that's tender, the tender calf.

01:44:36.420 --> 01:44:39.620
And, you know, again, milk is amazing.

01:44:39.620 --> 01:44:41.740
OK, folks, I love milk.

01:44:41.980 --> 01:44:45.060
The Bible uses milk to describe itself.

01:44:45.380 --> 01:44:48.180
The word of God is milk.

01:44:48.180 --> 01:44:50.620
But again, they have these vegan style diets

01:44:51.020 --> 01:44:54.020
where they're not having milk, where they're not having meat.

01:44:54.380 --> 01:44:59.260
And look, I'm not saying you couldn't hypothetically be healthy on a vegan diet,

01:44:59.420 --> 01:45:02.980
but I personally do not agree with it.

01:45:03.420 --> 01:45:08.180
I don't think that you should try to go for these weird, fad, strange diets.

01:45:08.700 --> 01:45:10.820
I think you're probably going to be more healthy

01:45:10.940 --> 01:45:14.100
if you're eating meats, you're having dairy, you're having milk,

01:45:14.340 --> 01:45:15.500
you're having eggs.

01:45:15.500 --> 01:45:18.140
And of course, there's some people out there that try to say it's all bad.

01:45:18.820 --> 01:45:20.020
Eggs are bad for you.

01:45:20.020 --> 01:45:24.660
Cholesterol and milk's bad for you and and meat's bad for you.

01:45:24.660 --> 01:45:25.700
And all this kind of stuff.

01:45:25.700 --> 01:45:29.380
Look, it's a doctrine of devils to refuse or abstain to eat meats.

01:45:29.860 --> 01:45:31.700
That's what the Bible teaches.

01:45:31.700 --> 01:45:33.700
And if no one will, I'll defend them.

01:45:33.700 --> 01:45:35.700
I will promote them. I will be the commercial.

01:45:35.980 --> 01:45:38.420
What's for dinner? Beef. That's what's for dinner.

01:45:39.300 --> 01:45:41.940
Got milk? Yes, I got milk.

01:45:42.340 --> 01:45:44.820
It's a crisis when we're out of milk.

01:45:44.820 --> 01:45:46.780
I don't know, me and my wife were watching something the other day,

01:45:47.100 --> 01:45:49.900
and the guy's like sitting down on the couch ready to like relax

01:45:49.900 --> 01:45:52.100
for the rest of the day. And the wife's like, we're out of milk.

01:45:52.100 --> 01:45:53.940
It's like he has to leave.

01:45:53.940 --> 01:45:57.860
He has to go to the store and get some milk because that's that's the doctrine.

01:45:57.860 --> 01:45:59.180
OK, I mean, think about it.

01:45:59.180 --> 01:46:00.500
What you said, there's no more Bible.

01:46:00.500 --> 01:46:03.540
It's like, oh, we're going to get the Bible, you know, we got to get the word of God.

01:46:04.060 --> 01:46:06.260
But at the end of the day, when we talk about the Orthodox Church,

01:46:07.140 --> 01:46:08.300
here's what matters.

01:46:08.300 --> 01:46:10.300
The Bible, not tradition.

01:46:10.300 --> 01:46:13.540
Who cares? We should test and evaluate every tradition with the Bible

01:46:13.860 --> 01:46:15.820
and say, what does the Bible teach?

01:46:15.820 --> 01:46:18.180
And you should be like a Brian. Acts, chapter 17, verse 11.

01:46:18.340 --> 01:46:20.100
These are more noble than those in Thessalonica

01:46:20.100 --> 01:46:22.860
and that they receive the word of all readiness of mind and search

01:46:22.860 --> 01:46:26.820
the scriptures daily, whether those things are so the Orthodox is not asking

01:46:26.820 --> 01:46:29.100
their church to search the scriptures and test whether or not

01:46:29.100 --> 01:46:31.060
what they're doing is biblical.

01:46:31.620 --> 01:46:33.260
What is the right thing to do?

01:46:33.300 --> 01:46:36.460
Go home and check and make sure everything I said is right.

01:46:37.780 --> 01:46:41.500
Don't just don't just come to, you know, step fast and just do whatever I say.

01:46:41.940 --> 01:46:44.900
Go home and make sure everything I said was right.

01:46:45.300 --> 01:46:47.300
And if the Bible says it, believe it.

01:46:48.340 --> 01:46:52.500
If I said it and the Bible's neutral, you should probably agree.

01:46:52.860 --> 01:46:55.420
All right. But you don't have to.

01:46:55.420 --> 01:46:57.940
If I said something in the Bible saying anything different,

01:46:58.100 --> 01:47:02.380
please reject anything that I said and only believe the Bible. OK.

01:47:03.100 --> 01:47:05.340
And at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the Bible.

01:47:06.140 --> 01:47:08.460
We got this. This is Jesus.

01:47:08.460 --> 01:47:10.860
And you know what the Orthodox will also say? This is not Jesus.

01:47:12.420 --> 01:47:16.500
Many Orthodox will get up and say, oh, Jesus really isn't the word of God.

01:47:16.820 --> 01:47:18.860
The word of God just points to Jesus.

01:47:18.860 --> 01:47:21.660
So we need to worship Jesus, not the Bible.

01:47:21.660 --> 01:47:22.860
Here's the thing.

01:47:22.860 --> 01:47:24.180
Then what do they think Jesus is?

01:47:24.180 --> 01:47:26.580
Oh, some picture on the wall of some cross-eyed dude.

01:47:27.540 --> 01:47:32.220
They literally think that staring at a picture of a cross-eyed dude on the wall,

01:47:32.300 --> 01:47:36.140
painted hundreds of years after Jesus Christ, is more legitimate

01:47:36.260 --> 01:47:39.420
than actually giving honor to the word of God itself.

01:47:40.820 --> 01:47:42.580
It's wicked. It's satanic.

01:47:42.580 --> 01:47:44.140
It's a cult.

01:47:44.140 --> 01:47:48.860
It's designed to keep you brain dead and just go to the mercy of the sinner.

01:47:48.860 --> 01:47:50.060
God rest me a sinner.

01:47:50.060 --> 01:47:52.460
Bro, go work out and then become new I.B. All right.

01:47:54.020 --> 01:47:55.620
And actually read your Bible.

01:47:55.620 --> 01:47:58.380
You know, the reps you should be putting in is reading the Bible,

01:47:58.660 --> 01:48:00.500
not just saying God rest me a sinner.

01:48:00.540 --> 01:48:01.340
Isn't it sad?

01:48:01.340 --> 01:48:04.660
There's going to be people who said God rest me a sinner a million times

01:48:04.660 --> 01:48:06.500
and they're not saved.

01:48:06.500 --> 01:48:08.500
It's not saying it that saves you.

01:48:08.500 --> 01:48:10.540
It's believing in your heart and confessing.

01:48:11.500 --> 01:48:13.580
And they don't believe in salvation by faith.

01:48:13.580 --> 01:48:14.500
They deny it.

01:48:14.500 --> 01:48:16.700
So, you know, we should love the Orthodox and give them the gospel.

01:48:16.700 --> 01:48:17.500
But you know what?

01:48:17.500 --> 01:48:19.380
Don't become Orthodox.

01:48:19.380 --> 01:48:20.420
They're not saved. Let's go to prayer.

01:48:20.420 --> 01:48:22.820
Thank you, Father, for the word of God.

01:48:23.060 --> 01:48:25.220
Thank you for giving us something to test tradition.

01:48:25.220 --> 01:48:28.580
Thank you for giving us something to test race, to test,

01:48:29.540 --> 01:48:33.340
you know, anything that we believe, food doctrine, salvation doctrine,

01:48:33.340 --> 01:48:35.540
church doctrine, traditions.

01:48:35.540 --> 01:48:38.580
I pray that we would only trust in the Bible.

01:48:38.780 --> 01:48:41.620
I pray that we be like Marines when we go home, we search the scriptures

01:48:41.620 --> 01:48:43.900
and we make sure the things that we believe are in the Bible.

01:48:44.620 --> 01:48:46.740
I pray that you would help us not to just believe tradition,

01:48:47.060 --> 01:48:48.940
but the test and prove all things.

01:48:48.940 --> 01:48:50.940
And I pray that you continue to bless our church

01:48:51.140 --> 01:48:53.340
so that we get more people saved in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

01:48:58.900 --> 01:49:02.500
All right, for our last song, let's go to song number 19.

01:49:10.100 --> 01:49:12.140
Song number 19.

01:49:15.660 --> 01:49:17.500
There is a fountain.

01:49:17.500 --> 01:49:21.020
Song number 19.

01:49:21.860 --> 01:49:24.060
Let's all sing that out together.

01:49:24.380 --> 01:49:27.700
There is a fountain.

01:49:27.700 --> 01:49:31.700
Song number 19.

01:49:31.700 --> 01:49:34.700
Song number 19.

01:49:34.700 --> 01:49:39.700
Song number 19.

01:49:39.700 --> 01:49:44.700
Song number 19.

01:49:44.700 --> 01:49:49.700
Song number 19.

01:49:50.340 --> 01:49:55.340
Song number 19.

01:50:01.020 --> 01:50:06.020
Song number 19.

01:50:11.300 --> 01:50:16.300
Song number 19.

01:50:16.300 --> 01:50:24.300
There may I go while as He washed all my sins away.

01:50:24.300 --> 01:50:29.300
Washed all my sins away.

01:50:29.300 --> 01:50:34.300
Washed all my sins away.

01:50:34.300 --> 01:50:44.300
And there may I go while as He washed all my sins away.

01:50:44.300 --> 01:50:54.300
Dear dying Lamb, thy precious blood shall never lose its power.

01:50:54.300 --> 01:51:04.300
Till all the rants of the Church of God be saved to sin no more.

01:51:04.300 --> 01:51:09.300
Be saved to sin no more.

01:51:09.300 --> 01:51:13.300
Be saved to sin no more.

01:51:13.300 --> 01:51:23.300
Till all the rants of the Church of God be saved to sin no more.

01:51:23.300 --> 01:51:33.300
Ere sinned by faith I saw the stream, my calling would supply.

01:51:33.300 --> 01:51:42.300
Redeeming love has been my plea, and shall be till I die.

01:51:42.300 --> 01:51:47.300
And shall be till I die.

01:51:47.300 --> 01:51:52.300
And shall be till I die.

01:51:52.300 --> 01:52:02.300
Redeeming love has been my plea, and shall be till I die.

01:52:02.300 --> 01:52:12.300
Then in the nobler, sweeter song, I'll sing thy power to save.

01:52:12.300 --> 01:52:21.300
Will this cordless, pink-staring tongue lie silent in the grave?

01:52:21.300 --> 01:52:31.300
Lie silent in the grave. Lie silent in the grave.

01:52:31.300 --> 01:52:41.300
Will this cordless, pink-staring tongue lie silent in the grave?

01:53:01.300 --> 01:53:06.300
Thank you.

01:53:31.300 --> 01:53:33.300
Thank you.

01:54:01.300 --> 01:54:04.300
Thank you.
