WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:28.160
Hey everybody, thanks for joining us for a special episode of the Baptist Bias.

00:28.160 --> 00:32.460
I'm your host, Pastor Shelley, and I'm actually going to be joined in studio, well, not in

00:32.460 --> 00:39.360
studio, but over the internet with one of my friends, Pastor Stephen Anderson, and we're

00:39.360 --> 00:42.720
going to be talking about Good Friday being debunked.

00:42.720 --> 00:46.320
Now, this is definitely a view that's prevalent out there today.

00:46.320 --> 00:52.580
Today is what many people will call Good Friday, and I've preached about this in times past,

00:52.580 --> 00:56.700
but I wanted to make a special live stream where I showed a lot of the information that

00:56.740 --> 01:00.980
I had taught in the past, and then additionally bring on one of my friends, Pastor Stephen

01:00.980 --> 01:02.740
Anderson, to talk about this.

01:02.740 --> 01:07.100
And we want to talk about the timing of the Passover, also talk about the date in which

01:07.100 --> 01:09.220
Christ was crucified.

01:09.220 --> 01:11.940
We'll be taking some call-ins later in the show.

01:11.940 --> 01:16.580
If you are able to call in, even just for a few minutes, we will take your questions.

01:16.580 --> 01:18.880
If you have questions, you can put them in the chat.

01:18.880 --> 01:20.940
But thanks so much for joining us for this episode.

01:20.940 --> 01:24.260
I'm going to welcome on my guest, Pastor Stephen Anderson.

01:24.260 --> 01:25.260
How's it going, Pastor Anderson?

01:25.820 --> 01:27.500
It's going great.

01:27.500 --> 01:28.900
Thanks for having me on.

01:28.900 --> 01:30.180
I really like your shirt.

01:30.180 --> 01:32.820
That's a good-looking shirt there.

01:32.820 --> 01:35.180
And I'm excited to cover this topic.

01:35.180 --> 01:41.620
Now, Good Friday is something that is celebrated pretty much all over the world.

01:41.620 --> 01:46.660
Is this something that you grew up believing, or what's your kind of view on Good Friday?

01:46.660 --> 01:48.980
No, absolutely not.

01:48.980 --> 01:53.100
This was never a thing amongst fundamental Baptists.

01:53.140 --> 01:57.500
I've never heard of any fundamental Baptists celebrating it growing up.

01:57.500 --> 01:59.260
I went to a lot of different churches growing up.

01:59.260 --> 02:01.900
Our family moved a few times and everything.

02:01.900 --> 02:08.620
But when I was growing up, most Baptists talked about Christ being crucified on Wednesday.

02:08.620 --> 02:14.300
And I know that my dad grew up in a church that had been influenced by Brother Hiles

02:14.300 --> 02:15.900
and that crowd.

02:15.900 --> 02:20.380
And Brother Hiles had a sermon called The Hoax of Good Friday.

02:20.780 --> 02:23.500
He always taught that it was a Wednesday.

02:23.500 --> 02:24.860
So that's what I grew up with.

02:24.860 --> 02:26.060
Well, it was interesting.

02:26.060 --> 02:29.420
I read a Wikipedia article about Good Friday.

02:29.420 --> 02:31.900
And I was researching this.

02:31.900 --> 02:35.420
I wonder if we can pull this up on our screen here in a minute whenever they're ready.

02:35.420 --> 02:38.300
But I was looking through this Good Friday article.

02:38.300 --> 02:39.580
And it pretty much is very clear.

02:39.580 --> 02:41.260
It's a Catholic belief.

02:41.260 --> 02:42.860
It's a Catholic idea.

02:42.860 --> 02:46.700
And I just did a control F on the Wikipedia article.

02:46.700 --> 02:49.180
And I looked for the word Baptist.

02:49.180 --> 02:51.820
And let's see if we I think we have it ready to pull up on the screen.

02:52.700 --> 02:56.140
It even says specifically that some Baptist congregations,

02:57.260 --> 03:00.380
the Philadelphia Church of God and some non-denominational churches

03:00.380 --> 03:06.300
oppose the observance of Good Friday regarding it as so-called papist tradition.

03:07.180 --> 03:11.500
And then it says instead observe the crucifixion of Jesus on Wednesday

03:11.500 --> 03:14.620
to coincide with the Jewish sacrifice of the Passover Lamb.

03:14.620 --> 03:18.780
So even this article is saying from a historical perspective that

03:19.660 --> 03:23.500
for the most part, Baptist or even a lot of evangelicals

03:23.500 --> 03:26.540
didn't necessarily subscribe to a Friday view.

03:26.540 --> 03:30.380
They believe that Jesus Christ was crucified on Wednesday.

03:31.260 --> 03:35.100
I think myself, I think growing up, I probably heard about Good Friday

03:35.100 --> 03:36.620
and I kind of thought maybe that was true.

03:37.180 --> 03:40.380
And then after maybe listening to a lot of different Baptist preaching,

03:40.380 --> 03:43.500
I think I ended up switching my view to Wednesday for a while.

03:44.060 --> 03:48.860
And what's interesting is I ended up wanting to prove the Wednesday crucifixion.

03:49.580 --> 03:53.820
And so I like was researching it because I wanted to disprove Good Friday.

03:53.820 --> 03:59.900
And my initial attempt, I kind of couldn't get all the verses to reconcile for Wednesday.

03:59.900 --> 04:04.620
And I kind of gave up and just said, well, I guess you can't even know.

04:04.620 --> 04:06.860
And it's not necessarily the most important doctrine.

04:06.860 --> 04:11.100
It's not necessarily something that's going to alter the course of your church.

04:11.180 --> 04:14.300
Obviously, we want to believe in the death, bone resurrection,

04:14.300 --> 04:16.700
but the exact timing wasn't necessarily that crucial.

04:16.700 --> 04:17.660
So I kind of gave up.

04:18.460 --> 04:22.380
But eventually in reading Mark and reading some other passages,

04:22.380 --> 04:25.500
I ended up changing my mind that I thought it was possible

04:25.500 --> 04:26.860
and I researched it again.

04:27.580 --> 04:30.220
And then I ended up switching to Thursday.

04:31.260 --> 04:33.020
Now, I think from your perspective,

04:33.020 --> 04:35.580
you also believed in Wednesday for a long time, is that right?

04:37.260 --> 04:37.900
Yeah, absolutely.

04:37.900 --> 04:40.540
I mean, for me, Friday was just never on the table

04:40.540 --> 04:43.260
because Matthew 1240 says,

04:43.260 --> 04:46.860
as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly,

04:46.860 --> 04:50.380
so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

04:50.380 --> 04:56.700
And I noticed that even the Wikipedia article cited Matthew 1240 as evidence for Wednesday.

04:56.700 --> 04:59.260
And so Friday was never on the table.

04:59.260 --> 05:03.420
It was always a question of whether it's Wednesday or Thursday, right?

05:03.980 --> 05:06.620
So when I was growing up, I'd always heard Wednesday.

05:07.180 --> 05:11.820
I had a guy confront me and try to convince me to Friday.

05:11.820 --> 05:13.500
He was a fundamental Baptist

05:13.500 --> 05:16.860
because even though the churches I grew up in were all Wednesday,

05:17.740 --> 05:19.740
obviously there are individuals with different views.

05:19.740 --> 05:22.540
He came at me and tried to prove Friday to me.

05:23.180 --> 05:25.980
And so I did kind of a deep dive when I was a teenager

05:26.540 --> 05:29.740
just to debunk this guy who was like my friend's dad.

05:30.620 --> 05:35.660
And I ended up being convinced that it was Wednesday.

05:35.660 --> 05:38.620
When I started Faith Forward Baptist Church back in 2005,

05:39.900 --> 05:41.500
I even preached a few sermons.

05:42.380 --> 05:44.380
One of them I borrowed Brother Heil's title

05:44.380 --> 05:46.380
and called it the hoax of Good Friday,

05:46.380 --> 05:49.100
but it was a totally different sermon that I used his title.

05:49.820 --> 05:53.340
And I have always preached it as Wednesday

05:54.620 --> 05:57.980
because I really wanted the three days and three nights

05:57.980 --> 06:02.060
to be like three full days and full nights, like 72 hours.

06:02.940 --> 06:05.020
And so that was kind of my hangup.

06:05.020 --> 06:08.780
But like you, I kind of came to a point where

06:09.340 --> 06:11.020
I believed it was Wednesday,

06:11.020 --> 06:14.140
but I definitely saw some problems with the Wednesday view.

06:14.940 --> 06:18.460
And I kind of at some point just threw up my hands and said,

06:18.460 --> 06:21.820
well, some of this is just a little bit confusing,

06:21.820 --> 06:25.900
a little bit unknowable, but I still thought it was Wednesday.

06:25.900 --> 06:29.260
Then when you came out with the Thursday information,

06:29.900 --> 06:32.540
I remember you and I spent probably like

06:32.620 --> 06:34.940
total of eight or nine hours on the phone,

06:34.940 --> 06:36.940
like over the course of several days,

06:36.940 --> 06:38.700
kind of arguing back and forth.

06:38.700 --> 06:41.900
And I was kind of pushing for the Wednesday view

06:41.900 --> 06:43.420
and you were pushing for the Thursday view.

06:43.420 --> 06:45.500
We kind of argued for days.

06:45.500 --> 06:48.220
And then finally, you convinced me because

06:48.780 --> 06:51.580
the problems that I had with the Wednesday view,

06:51.580 --> 06:54.060
the Thursday view solved those problems.

06:54.060 --> 06:57.820
And I kind of just had to let go of the 72 hour thing

06:57.820 --> 07:00.940
and just realize that it's three days and three nights,

07:00.940 --> 07:03.500
but the first day is a partial,

07:04.380 --> 07:07.980
the final night's a partial, and it works out perfectly.

07:07.980 --> 07:09.580
So I'm totally convinced,

07:09.580 --> 07:12.620
I'm totally satisfied with Thursday at this point.

07:12.620 --> 07:15.500
Well, I think as long as you pretty much understand

07:15.500 --> 07:19.100
that Christ was crucified in the evening or at even,

07:19.740 --> 07:22.060
and that he rose again in the morning,

07:22.620 --> 07:25.820
then it could never be an exact 72 hours.

07:25.820 --> 07:29.420
You're going to have some variation,

07:29.420 --> 07:33.340
whether on the short side of 72 or on the long side of 72.

07:33.980 --> 07:37.100
But one thing that I thought was really difficult

07:37.100 --> 07:39.900
in this process of trying to understand these things

07:39.900 --> 07:42.380
was just the word Passover itself.

07:42.940 --> 07:45.100
And I want to bring several verses on the screen

07:45.100 --> 07:46.300
and kind of talk about this for a moment,

07:46.300 --> 07:49.420
but the word Passover can mean a few different things

07:49.420 --> 07:50.060
in scripture.

07:50.700 --> 07:55.980
One of those is it refers to the entire feast that celebrated.

07:56.140 --> 07:59.900
This makes sense just because we use the word Christmas

07:59.900 --> 08:01.340
in a similar way.

08:01.340 --> 08:03.260
People will talk about Christmas and they'll say

08:03.260 --> 08:04.940
it's Christmas time and they can be talking about

08:04.940 --> 08:06.140
the whole month of December,

08:06.140 --> 08:08.700
they could be talking about Christmas evening, Christmas day,

08:08.700 --> 08:10.380
they could be talking about Christmas day specifically.

08:10.380 --> 08:12.940
So Christmas itself is used a lot of times

08:12.940 --> 08:16.780
in many different ways to describe different time periods.

08:16.780 --> 08:20.060
And I believe Passover also is kind of this catch-all phrase

08:20.060 --> 08:23.020
or word that you see in scripture being described

08:23.020 --> 08:25.340
as many different things.

08:25.340 --> 08:29.660
Now, here in Luke, it gives us a verse, Luke 22,

08:29.660 --> 08:32.300
it says, now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh,

08:33.100 --> 08:35.340
which is called the Passover.

08:35.340 --> 08:39.500
So the entire feast itself, all the events of it

08:39.500 --> 08:42.060
are just loosely referred to as the Passover

08:42.060 --> 08:43.180
in portions of scripture.

08:43.740 --> 08:47.260
And so some people get confused on the word Passover

08:47.260 --> 08:48.860
when they're trying to figure these things out,

08:48.860 --> 08:50.780
but we have to understand that Passover

08:50.780 --> 08:52.060
could mean a few different things.

08:52.700 --> 08:56.140
Additionally, in Exodus chapter number 12,

08:56.780 --> 08:58.700
whenever you read through that passage,

08:58.700 --> 09:00.620
and I'm not sure which verse we wanna go to,

09:00.620 --> 09:03.500
but you could bring this up on the screen if you can.

09:03.500 --> 09:04.940
In Exodus chapter number 12,

09:05.820 --> 09:08.700
when it talks about the days of this feast,

09:08.700 --> 09:12.060
it literally says the 14th day in verse number six,

09:12.060 --> 09:13.820
and you just keep it up until the 14th day.

09:13.820 --> 09:15.020
So this is when they were supposed to kill

09:15.580 --> 09:17.900
the Passover lamb, but then they were supposed to celebrate

09:18.540 --> 09:22.060
seven days of unleavened bread.

09:22.060 --> 09:24.540
And it even specifically counts them,

09:24.540 --> 09:27.820
and it tells us a little bit further down in this verse,

09:27.820 --> 09:29.500
if we just go down a little bit more,

09:29.500 --> 09:33.020
it'll tell you it's all the way into the 21st day.

09:33.660 --> 09:37.500
And the thing is, is if you count from 14 to 21,

09:38.060 --> 09:41.740
it's actually eight days, which, you know,

09:41.740 --> 09:43.900
if you think about simple math, obviously,

09:44.140 --> 09:48.700
if you just add, if you take 21 minus seven, that's 14,

09:48.700 --> 09:51.020
but what you have to realize is when you're talking about

09:51.020 --> 09:54.940
calendar days, if you go from the 14th all the way

09:54.940 --> 09:58.380
to the 21st, it's actually a total of eight days.

09:58.380 --> 10:00.140
And so I believe that the Bible's really clear

10:00.140 --> 10:02.620
that when it's talking about the feast of unleavened bread,

10:02.620 --> 10:07.660
the Passover is referring to all of these specific eight days.

10:07.660 --> 10:09.420
Now, let me see if we can find that verse

10:09.420 --> 10:11.740
that I wanna make sure I'm pointing it out here.

10:11.740 --> 10:13.580
Well, you know, while you're looking for that,

10:13.580 --> 10:15.900
I would just say that, you know, this is exactly

10:15.900 --> 10:18.860
what's going on in Acts chapter 12 verse four,

10:19.740 --> 10:23.980
where people get hung up on, well, how can the Passover

10:23.980 --> 10:25.740
be happening twice?

10:25.740 --> 10:28.860
And so they try to make like Easter and Passover

10:28.860 --> 10:32.060
be two different things, when in reality, Easter's

10:32.060 --> 10:35.660
just the archaic word for Passover, the Greek word

10:36.300 --> 10:40.380
that is translated as Easter in the KJV in Acts 12,

10:40.780 --> 10:44.460
four is just the normal word for Passover,

10:45.260 --> 10:47.820
but it's translated as Easter because of the fact

10:47.820 --> 10:50.940
that all the old Bible translations like the Tindale Bible,

10:50.940 --> 10:54.060
Matthew Bible, Great Bible, they use the word Easter

10:54.060 --> 10:55.900
like 15, 20 times in them.

10:55.900 --> 10:57.340
And then when you get to the Bishop's Bible

10:57.340 --> 10:58.940
and only uses the word Easter twice,

10:59.580 --> 11:02.620
King James uses it once, but it's referring

11:02.620 --> 11:09.900
to the entire week as Easter slash Passover in Acts 12, four.

11:10.780 --> 11:12.780
But a lot of people are hung up saying like,

11:12.780 --> 11:14.700
oh, the modern versions are wrong here,

11:14.700 --> 11:17.340
only the KJV is right when it says Easter

11:17.340 --> 11:21.100
because this different day, when really in Acts 12, four,

11:21.100 --> 11:24.060
both the modern versions and the KJV are both right

11:24.060 --> 11:27.660
because Easter and Passover are literally synonymous

11:27.660 --> 11:29.580
at that time in 16, 11.

11:29.580 --> 11:33.020
And so, yeah, and I was thinking of verse 18.

11:33.020 --> 11:36.060
So in verse 18, it says, in the first month,

11:36.060 --> 11:39.340
on the 14th day of the month that even you shall eat

11:39.340 --> 11:43.180
unleavened bread until the one and 20th day

11:43.180 --> 11:43.980
of the month that even.

11:43.980 --> 11:45.980
So that even says specifically on the 14th day

11:45.980 --> 11:47.740
they're supposed to eat unleavened bread too,

11:47.740 --> 11:51.180
which is significant when we talk about the Last Supper

11:51.180 --> 11:53.820
and specifically the event that the disciples had

11:53.820 --> 11:54.620
with Jesus Christ.

11:54.620 --> 11:59.500
Now, again, if you count the 14th as one, 15th as two,

11:59.500 --> 12:05.260
16th as three, 17th as four, 18th as five, 19th as six,

12:06.140 --> 12:09.580
20th is seven, and then you have the 21st,

12:09.580 --> 12:11.420
which would be eight days.

12:11.420 --> 12:14.540
So technically the whole feast is an eight day feast

12:14.540 --> 12:17.260
where the first day is the day of preparation

12:17.260 --> 12:20.140
and then you have seven days of unleavened bread

12:20.140 --> 12:22.860
and that is referred to as the Passover.

12:22.860 --> 12:25.100
Now I wanna go to the second option we have here

12:25.100 --> 12:25.740
for the Passover.

12:25.740 --> 12:27.260
We have another screen that I wanna show

12:28.140 --> 12:30.860
as far as another possible definition of the word Passover

12:30.860 --> 12:32.300
in Luke 22 verse seven.

12:32.300 --> 12:34.300
So it's just a little bit further in the same chapter

12:34.300 --> 12:36.780
that we talked about what Passover could mean.

12:36.780 --> 12:39.180
It has another definition in the same chapter.

12:39.180 --> 12:42.140
In Luke 22 verse seven, it says,

12:42.140 --> 12:44.460
then came the day of unleavened bread

12:44.460 --> 12:46.300
when the Passover must be killed.

12:46.300 --> 12:50.060
So the word Passover also refers to the sacrifice itself,

12:50.060 --> 12:52.060
the animal that's gonna be sacrificed,

12:52.060 --> 12:53.500
that lamb that's gonna be sacrificed

12:53.500 --> 12:55.740
is referred to as the Passover.

12:55.740 --> 13:01.420
And then I wanna go to one more in John chapter 18 verse 28,

13:01.420 --> 13:03.980
the Bible also gives another idea of the Passover.

13:04.060 --> 13:08.140
It says, then led they Jesus from Caiaphas

13:08.140 --> 13:10.220
under the hall of judgment and it was early

13:10.220 --> 13:13.020
and they themselves went not into the judgment hall

13:13.020 --> 13:14.700
lest they should be defiled

13:14.700 --> 13:17.740
but that they might eat the Passover.

13:17.740 --> 13:20.540
Now, again, you could say that's kind of the sacrifice

13:20.540 --> 13:24.140
but it's also alluding to the meal in which they would eat

13:24.140 --> 13:25.740
which is on the 15th day.

13:25.740 --> 13:27.660
So when we understand the word Passover,

13:27.660 --> 13:30.220
it could mean that entire event,

13:30.220 --> 13:33.500
that entire eight calendar section of time,

13:33.500 --> 13:36.700
it could refer to the time when they sacrificed the Passover

13:36.700 --> 13:39.260
and it could refer to the time in which they ate

13:39.260 --> 13:41.900
or eat that specific Passover.

13:41.900 --> 13:46.380
So sometimes when you'll see the word Passover in the gospels,

13:46.380 --> 13:49.100
it could be any one of those particular times

13:49.100 --> 13:52.060
and that helps us to actually reconcile

13:52.060 --> 13:54.540
and try to figure out the exact timing

13:54.540 --> 13:58.220
or try to figure out the chronology of these events.

13:58.220 --> 14:00.300
So I just wanted to lay that down quickly.

14:00.300 --> 14:02.300
Now, when it came to the Wednesday view,

14:03.660 --> 14:09.100
John chapter 12 was a verse that I just could not figure out

14:09.100 --> 14:11.980
and this is one where I pretty much just kind of gave up

14:11.980 --> 14:14.380
because I knew that Friday wasn't true

14:15.100 --> 14:19.420
and yet I was trying to figure out John chapter 12 verse 1

14:20.140 --> 14:24.220
because specifically, you know, we have Palm Sunday.

14:24.220 --> 14:25.500
And now here's the thing,

14:25.500 --> 14:28.380
I believe that Palm Sunday is accurate

14:28.380 --> 14:30.540
but at the time I was just putting everything on the table

14:30.540 --> 14:32.060
like let's just try to figure this out.

14:32.060 --> 14:33.820
But in John chapter 12 verse 1,

14:33.820 --> 14:37.100
the Bible gives us a verse that's giving us a timeline here

14:37.740 --> 14:41.660
and it says in John chapter 12 verse 1 that then Jesus,

14:41.660 --> 14:46.140
six days before the Passover came to Bethany

14:46.140 --> 14:48.140
where Lazarus was which had been dead

14:48.140 --> 14:50.140
whom he had raised from the dead.

14:50.700 --> 14:54.860
So we know that a specific day is six days away from the Passover.

14:54.860 --> 14:58.860
Now again, the Passover could refer to any of those three things prior to

14:58.860 --> 15:00.380
but if you had it on Wednesday,

15:01.180 --> 15:03.500
now when you start going backwards six days,

15:04.220 --> 15:07.340
that's going to cause a problem because of verse 12.

15:07.340 --> 15:11.660
In John chapter 12 verse 12, it says,

15:11.660 --> 15:15.260
on the next day, much people were come to the feast

15:15.820 --> 15:18.060
when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

15:18.780 --> 15:21.100
And then in verse number 13, it says,

15:23.100 --> 15:24.620
when they heard that Jesus was coming to the feast

15:24.620 --> 15:25.740
or coming to Jerusalem,

15:25.740 --> 15:28.300
they took branches of palm trees and went forth to meet him

15:28.300 --> 15:30.620
and cried, Hosanna, blessed is the king of Israel

15:30.620 --> 15:31.820
that cometh in the name of the Lord.

15:31.820 --> 15:37.180
So we understand that the next day after the six days

15:37.180 --> 15:40.380
would have been the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ

15:41.020 --> 15:44.620
which we celebrate today as Palm Sunday.

15:44.620 --> 15:47.900
And this would be a problem if we backed it up a day

15:47.900 --> 15:49.980
because then that would fall on a Sabbath day.

15:49.980 --> 15:51.740
And then it would be kind of strange that you have people

15:51.740 --> 15:54.380
like cutting off palm branches and doing all this work

15:54.460 --> 15:58.460
and kind of making a big deal about this triumphal entry

15:59.020 --> 16:01.020
when it would fall on a particular,

16:01.580 --> 16:03.100
potentially a Sabbath day.

16:03.740 --> 16:06.780
Now I have a chart and I want to kind of pull this up too

16:06.780 --> 16:08.300
that I've made and I will reference this

16:08.300 --> 16:11.020
throughout the live stream.

16:11.020 --> 16:13.340
Yeah, and while you pull that up,

16:13.340 --> 16:15.900
I'll just point out the fact that, you know,

16:15.900 --> 16:17.820
one of the reasons that we like Palm Sunday

16:17.820 --> 16:19.180
and we're going to see this on the chart

16:19.820 --> 16:23.980
is that it corresponds with the 10th day of the month

16:23.980 --> 16:26.220
which if we go back to the Old Testament,

16:26.220 --> 16:29.340
that's when the lamb would be selected, right?

16:29.340 --> 16:32.460
The lamb would be presented without spot, without blemish

16:33.180 --> 16:35.900
and it would be, you know, then observed for the next few days

16:35.900 --> 16:38.460
before they actually kill it for the Passover.

16:38.460 --> 16:42.140
So that 10th day of the month and Palm Sunday

16:42.140 --> 16:45.660
work out perfectly, you know, the lamb's being presented

16:46.380 --> 16:49.100
and that's what Palm Sunday is when Jesus Christ

16:49.100 --> 16:50.300
does the triumphal entry.

16:50.860 --> 16:51.420
Exactly.

16:51.420 --> 16:55.340
That John 12 passage is a problem for the Wednesday view.

16:55.340 --> 16:56.620
So see if we can pull this up.

16:57.340 --> 16:59.260
I have a chart that I had made a while back

16:59.900 --> 17:03.420
and, you know, there's a lot of things going on on the screen here

17:03.420 --> 17:06.940
but if you look at the 9th day of Nissan,

17:07.660 --> 17:11.420
which is Saturday, which would have been their Sabbath,

17:11.420 --> 17:14.060
I have that verse there in John 12 verse 1

17:14.060 --> 17:16.140
which is six days before the Passover.

17:16.700 --> 17:22.220
Now, if you count and you kind of just get to figure out

17:22.220 --> 17:26.700
what the days are, Sunday, that day there, that little sun,

17:26.700 --> 17:29.260
that would be one, Monday would be two,

17:29.260 --> 17:32.220
Tuesday would be Wednesday before,

17:32.220 --> 17:35.580
Thursday would be five and then here's the thing,

17:35.580 --> 17:39.500
Friday would be six but here's the thing,

17:39.500 --> 17:42.700
that is the day when they ate the Passover.

17:42.700 --> 17:46.300
So I believe when it's talking about here in John chapter 12 verse 1

17:47.100 --> 17:48.860
that it's six days before the Passover,

17:48.860 --> 17:51.660
it's not saying the first day of the feast,

17:51.660 --> 17:56.060
it's talking about when they would eat the Passover specifically

17:56.060 --> 17:58.140
and that reconciles.

17:58.140 --> 18:00.460
Whereas if I tried to go with Wednesday,

18:01.900 --> 18:03.340
now I'm really having to back it up

18:03.340 --> 18:05.740
because you could interpret this verse,

18:05.740 --> 18:07.820
you could interpret six days before the Passover

18:08.540 --> 18:12.380
as being the first day of the event

18:12.380 --> 18:15.100
and that's to kind of support the Friday view.

18:15.100 --> 18:17.980
But we'll see how the Friday view doesn't make sense from other verses

18:17.980 --> 18:20.460
but here's the thing, if we talk about the Wednesday view,

18:20.460 --> 18:23.180
it gets really difficult on a Wednesday view

18:23.180 --> 18:26.140
to have six days in any context

18:27.020 --> 18:29.740
before they potentially eat the Passover

18:29.740 --> 18:31.980
which would be the farthest timeline we have.

18:31.980 --> 18:33.260
But this still makes perfect sense

18:33.260 --> 18:36.300
and then of course you have the triumphal entry

18:36.300 --> 18:39.580
mentioned in all the gospels there on the 10th day

18:39.580 --> 18:43.260
which like you said reconciles with Exodus chapter 12 verse 3

18:43.260 --> 18:45.820
which tells them that they have to on the 10th day

18:45.820 --> 18:47.500
choose a lamb or select a lamb

18:47.500 --> 18:50.780
and it's like the children of Israel are selecting Jesus Christ

18:50.780 --> 18:53.980
as he's coming in that triumphant entry in Jerusalem

18:53.980 --> 18:56.540
and he's fulfilling that particular portion of scripture,

18:56.540 --> 18:58.860
that prophetic picture of him.

18:58.860 --> 19:03.900
Now I want to also go to another verse here that's on this chart,

19:03.900 --> 19:07.020
it's after two days was the feast of the Passover

19:07.580 --> 19:10.380
and I want to look at Mark chapter 14.

19:10.380 --> 19:14.700
This is also another pivotal section of scripture

19:14.700 --> 19:19.580
when we talk about understanding the timeline of these events.

19:19.580 --> 19:21.420
Now Mark chapter 14 verse 1 says this,

19:21.420 --> 19:27.020
after two days was the feast of the Passover and of unleavened bread

19:27.020 --> 19:31.180
and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft

19:31.180 --> 19:32.140
and put him to death.

19:32.140 --> 19:35.020
Now again it's being pretty clear here,

19:35.020 --> 19:37.500
the feast again is when they would eat.

19:37.500 --> 19:39.980
So if we go back to my chart that I had there,

19:40.780 --> 19:45.180
you can see that there's after two days was the feast of unleavened bread.

19:45.180 --> 19:48.140
Well that would have been on Tuesday

19:48.700 --> 19:52.220
which we would have had Wednesday and Thursday

19:52.220 --> 19:55.180
which would be one day, two days and then again on Friday

19:55.180 --> 19:57.020
is when you would eat that particular feast.

19:57.020 --> 20:03.500
Now the reason why that's important is because Mark is really clear on its timeline.

20:03.500 --> 20:05.020
I want to go to the spreadsheet that I have

20:05.660 --> 20:08.700
because you would say well why you just randomly put that on Tuesday.

20:08.700 --> 20:10.780
Well I didn't just randomly put that on Tuesday

20:10.780 --> 20:14.380
because if you look at this kind of spreadsheet,

20:14.380 --> 20:15.900
I mean and we'll probably try to share these.

20:15.900 --> 20:17.980
I'll share these links with you later.

20:17.980 --> 20:19.740
I'll put them in the description after the stream

20:19.740 --> 20:21.500
and you can kind of walk it through.

20:21.500 --> 20:28.380
But you have Mark 11 verse 1 here coinciding with the triumphant entry

20:28.380 --> 20:30.380
and then you have a verse in Mark 11, 12.

20:30.380 --> 20:33.020
If you scroll down a little bit, it's highlighted in blue

20:34.220 --> 20:37.820
and in Mark 11, 12, I'm sorry, Mark 11 verse 12, it says

20:37.820 --> 20:42.860
and on the morrow when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry.

20:42.860 --> 20:48.380
So you have like Sunday being established in verse 1 in chapter 11.

20:48.380 --> 20:49.580
Then you have another day.

20:49.580 --> 20:50.780
Well that would be Monday.

20:51.420 --> 20:54.540
Then you have Mark 11, 20 which says

20:54.540 --> 20:58.780
and in the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

20:58.780 --> 21:02.700
Well now we've passed into another day which would be Tuesday

21:03.260 --> 21:08.220
and then of course in Mark chapter, if you kind of read through chapters 11

21:08.220 --> 21:15.100
all the way to chapter 14, we haven't switched days from reading the book of Mark

21:15.100 --> 21:19.660
and then it says in Mark 14 verse 1, after two days was the feast of the Passover.

21:19.660 --> 21:25.900
So the earliest that particular verse could be is Tuesday

21:25.900 --> 21:29.180
because we have Sunday, then we have a morning, then we have another day.

21:29.180 --> 21:30.860
So the earliest that could be is Tuesday.

21:30.860 --> 21:32.300
You can't back it up anymore.

21:32.300 --> 21:35.020
Well that's going to present a problem for a Wednesday view

21:35.020 --> 21:40.380
because again, how do you get two days till that particular point

21:40.380 --> 21:44.540
if he was crucified on Wednesday, you really can't very easily.

21:46.380 --> 21:47.900
Because that's when they're supposed to eat that feast.

21:47.900 --> 21:51.980
So that's another verse that kind of was confusing to me.

21:51.980 --> 21:55.820
When I had the Wednesday view, I'm thinking like I can't really seem to make

21:56.380 --> 21:59.260
this John verse fit and I can't seem to really make

21:59.980 --> 22:02.620
this Mark verse fit as well.

22:03.580 --> 22:07.820
There's another one that I want to go to that was on the chart that's in Luke

22:08.780 --> 22:10.860
and this one was specific.

22:10.860 --> 22:12.940
See if you can pull up the chart, not the Excel spreadsheet.

22:13.580 --> 22:19.900
The chart that I have, yeah, this diagram, if you look at the end of the chart on the right,

22:20.540 --> 22:25.900
there on Sunday, it says today is the third day since in Luke 24.

22:25.900 --> 22:26.940
Now I have that verse.

22:27.500 --> 22:31.020
Let's see if we can pull up that verse on the screen as well.

22:31.020 --> 22:36.780
But this is a verse that I think also is just super clear on our particular timeline.

22:37.500 --> 22:39.820
Now in Luke chapter 24, this is the walk to Emmaus.

22:39.820 --> 22:43.180
This is when two men are walking and they are encounter with Jesus Christ

22:43.820 --> 22:51.180
and they are kind of explaining to Jesus what's going on because he's kind of asking them about

22:51.180 --> 22:55.420
why they're so sad or why they're kind of glum.

22:55.420 --> 23:00.780
And it says here, this is the two men talking to Jesus as one of the guys talking to him.

23:00.780 --> 23:04.460
He says, and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him, talking about Jesus,

23:05.020 --> 23:07.580
to be condemned to death and have crucified him.

23:07.580 --> 23:13.020
But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel.

23:13.020 --> 23:17.660
And beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done.

23:17.660 --> 23:25.180
So these two verses tell us that number one, it's bringing up the event of him being crucified.

23:25.180 --> 23:27.260
And it's saying today is the third day since.

23:27.260 --> 23:32.140
Well, we know that that was still the first day of the week from the context of the passage.

23:32.140 --> 23:33.580
So we're in the first day of the week.

23:33.580 --> 23:37.420
If that's the third day since, then we'd have to understand that Sunday is the third day since.

23:38.060 --> 23:42.220
And then that would make Saturday the second day since.

23:42.220 --> 23:45.420
And then that would make Friday the first day since.

23:46.300 --> 23:46.860
What?

23:46.860 --> 23:53.660
Since he was crucified, which would then perfectly again align with a crucifixion on Thursday.

23:53.820 --> 23:55.500
I think that that verse is actually really important.

23:55.500 --> 24:01.260
And that word since there is a pretty crucial word because it really clarifies.

24:01.260 --> 24:03.020
Because sometimes you could kind of shift days.

24:03.020 --> 24:04.860
You could say two days, are we counting today?

24:05.500 --> 24:06.700
Are we not counting today?

24:06.700 --> 24:08.380
Are we counting the next day?

24:08.380 --> 24:12.460
Sometimes it can be ambiguous how you would calculate days.

24:12.460 --> 24:15.900
And so there is a little bit of possibility you can shift some of these things.

24:15.900 --> 24:21.100
But Luke 24 starts to kind of bring it in the view of being a very clear, specific timeline.

24:21.100 --> 24:23.660
Where now it's the third day since what?

24:23.660 --> 24:26.700
Since he was crucified, well, that would put it on Thursday.

24:26.700 --> 24:30.460
And then when you plot Thursday with these other verses,

24:30.460 --> 24:33.420
they kind of all fit together in a cohesive narrative.

24:33.980 --> 24:36.140
And it kind of makes perfect sense.

24:36.780 --> 24:42.220
Now to address, I think one of the verses that we brought up earlier, Matthew 12 verse 40,

24:42.780 --> 24:45.500
for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the well's belly,

24:45.500 --> 24:48.300
so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

24:49.020 --> 24:53.580
I want to go back to my chart and show how that's true with a Thursday view.

24:55.100 --> 24:55.820
If you look at it.

24:55.820 --> 25:00.300
And while you're going there, let me just remind the viewer at home why Friday

25:01.180 --> 25:04.780
is so ridiculous in light of three days and three nights.

25:04.780 --> 25:12.300
To hold the Friday view, you kind of just have to ignore or discard Matthew 12 40,

25:12.300 --> 25:14.460
which Baptists just aren't willing to do.

25:14.460 --> 25:16.860
You know, we believe every verse of the Bible.

25:16.860 --> 25:19.740
We're not willing to just ignore any piece of evidence.

25:19.740 --> 25:23.900
And this is why it's very rare for Baptists believe in a Friday view.

25:24.460 --> 25:26.380
Because it's just so impossible.

25:26.380 --> 25:31.180
Because if Christ died on Friday, you have Friday night and Saturday night,

25:31.820 --> 25:35.100
but there is no way to get that third night.

25:35.660 --> 25:38.460
It certainly can't be Sunday night.

25:38.460 --> 25:39.500
It can't be Thursday night.

25:39.500 --> 25:40.380
So what is it?

25:40.380 --> 25:43.100
I mean, it's just there is no third night.

25:43.100 --> 25:47.260
No matter how you cook the books, it's just not going to work.

25:47.900 --> 25:52.540
And so this is why I've never even entertained a Friday view.

25:52.540 --> 25:53.340
It's really just.

25:54.620 --> 25:56.300
Yeah, it's really just two days and two nights.

25:57.260 --> 26:01.260
If Friday was true because you have the Friday day partial,

26:01.260 --> 26:04.620
you have the Friday night, then you have Saturday day,

26:04.620 --> 26:08.460
then you have Saturday night, but then he rose before the day,

26:08.460 --> 26:10.220
before the dawn on Sunday.

26:10.220 --> 26:12.460
So you really just have two days and two nights.

26:12.460 --> 26:14.540
You really just have two days and two nights.

26:14.540 --> 26:15.500
You're absolutely right.

26:15.500 --> 26:20.060
But what I'm saying is someone could try to finagle and wiggle

26:20.060 --> 26:23.420
and try to somehow count Sunday morning, even though I agree with you.

26:23.420 --> 26:25.100
There's no way to count Sunday morning.

26:25.100 --> 26:28.460
But even if you wanted to try to finagle that,

26:28.460 --> 26:30.780
you can't even come close to the third night.

26:30.780 --> 26:32.140
It's just not there.

26:32.140 --> 26:36.300
And so that's why that view should be rejected out of hand.

26:36.300 --> 26:40.380
And it doesn't matter whether it's believed in by pagan idolaters

26:40.380 --> 26:42.620
called Roman Catholics all over the world.

26:42.620 --> 26:46.300
Yeah, they have the huge numbers and they have the loudest voice

26:46.300 --> 26:50.780
because they have their big institution, the Roman Catholic Church,

26:50.780 --> 26:54.300
and they have all their scholars and people promoting this stuff.

26:54.300 --> 26:56.300
But it just isn't happening.

26:57.420 --> 27:02.300
And so Matthew 12 40 is just a complete deal breaker for Friday.

27:03.260 --> 27:06.300
It does leave room for Wednesday or Thursday.

27:06.300 --> 27:07.820
And that's what you're about to show.

27:08.380 --> 27:13.500
Yeah. And again, I want to show we bring up that chart if you can again,

27:13.500 --> 27:14.780
because I want to show this on the screen.

27:14.780 --> 27:20.380
But it's very clear that Jesus Christ died at the ninth hour.

27:20.380 --> 27:22.140
That's what the text says.

27:22.140 --> 27:26.220
And if we kind of understand what the ninth hour means, that means 3 p.m.

27:26.220 --> 27:30.620
Because they're counting it from essentially sun dawning or coming up.

27:30.620 --> 27:33.820
And that would be approximately 6 a.m.

27:33.820 --> 27:35.740
Obviously, it's going to be very a little bit.

27:35.740 --> 27:39.020
But we're just using even easy numbers.

27:39.020 --> 27:41.260
If you assume that the sun rose at 6 a.m.,

27:41.260 --> 27:44.780
they were talking about 3 p.m. for that particular day.

27:44.780 --> 27:46.460
That's when Jesus Christ died.

27:46.460 --> 27:51.260
Well, that's going to put him in the grave or being dead technically

27:51.260 --> 27:54.300
for three hours of Thursday.

27:54.300 --> 27:56.700
So you would have Thursday as one day.

27:56.700 --> 27:58.300
You would have that as a day.

27:58.300 --> 28:00.140
Then you would have Thursday night.

28:00.140 --> 28:03.100
So you have Thursday day, you have Thursday night.

28:03.100 --> 28:04.540
Then you have Friday day.

28:04.540 --> 28:05.820
Then you have Friday night.

28:05.820 --> 28:08.380
Then you have Saturday day and you have Saturday night.

28:08.380 --> 28:12.700
And he rose before the sun came up on Sunday.

28:12.700 --> 28:16.140
So you literally have three days and three nights.

28:16.140 --> 28:18.940
Now, this is exactly how we speak and communicate today

28:18.940 --> 28:23.500
because if I were traveling anywhere and I get on a plane right now,

28:23.500 --> 28:28.380
if I got on a plane right now and I flew to Arizona to see Pastor Anderson

28:28.380 --> 28:31.180
and I arrived sometime in the afternoon, let's say four o'clock,

28:31.740 --> 28:36.540
and I stay the night and then I get up in the morning, fly back home at noon,

28:36.540 --> 28:39.180
and someone says, well, how long were you in Phoenix?

28:39.180 --> 28:41.180
I would say, well, two days and one night

28:41.180 --> 28:44.620
because I was there for that first part of the day,

28:44.620 --> 28:46.060
then the evening and the next day.

28:47.180 --> 28:53.420
I wouldn't be trying to say that it had to be exactly 48 hours

28:54.860 --> 28:55.820
or something like that.

28:55.820 --> 28:59.500
I'm just trying to communicate that I was there on today, Friday,

29:00.460 --> 29:02.460
night and Saturday day.

29:02.460 --> 29:03.900
That's what I was communicating.

29:03.900 --> 29:07.100
And hotels, this is exactly how they communicate.

29:07.100 --> 29:09.500
They want to know how many days and nights you are,

29:09.500 --> 29:11.740
the time you arrive, the time that you leave.

29:11.740 --> 29:15.260
And of course, if you spent three hours in hell,

29:16.540 --> 29:19.980
you're going to count that as part of being in hell for that day.

29:21.180 --> 29:25.020
Let me explain it in another way that I think might help people at home too.

29:25.660 --> 29:27.900
If I said I work five days a week,

29:30.300 --> 29:33.740
work is taking place on Monday, it's taking place on Tuesday,

29:33.740 --> 29:35.020
it's taking place on Wednesday.

29:35.020 --> 29:36.780
Not necessarily the whole day.

29:36.780 --> 29:40.540
It doesn't necessarily say what time I'm working those shifts.

29:40.540 --> 29:44.860
I could work a three-hour shift, an eight-hour shift, a 12-hour shift.

29:44.860 --> 29:48.540
But the point is three days is three calendar days.

29:48.540 --> 29:51.420
And again, this goes into the understanding of the day of the Lord.

29:52.220 --> 29:56.700
I don't think of the day of the Lord as a 24-hour period

29:56.700 --> 29:59.820
as much as I would think of the day of the Lord as a day on the calendar.

30:00.460 --> 30:03.980
It's a certain day that these things happen on that particular day.

30:03.980 --> 30:08.300
And so three days and three nights, it's just this simple.

30:08.300 --> 30:11.660
Thursday, Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night.

30:11.660 --> 30:13.020
That's three days and three nights.

30:13.020 --> 30:14.300
It doesn't have to be the whole day.

30:15.020 --> 30:15.500
Exactly.

30:15.500 --> 30:17.820
Because like you said, that's not really how we talk.

30:18.780 --> 30:25.020
And anybody that just understands that Christ died at the ninth hour

30:25.020 --> 30:29.420
would realize that it's never going to reconcile to a perfect 12-hour day

30:29.420 --> 30:32.220
for that specific day because that day was a partial day.

30:32.780 --> 30:37.660
Just to play the devil's advocate, let me give you what the Wednesday response would be.

30:37.660 --> 30:39.660
Because I believed this for years.

30:39.660 --> 30:42.300
I defended the Wednesday position for many years.

30:42.940 --> 30:45.740
And so I understand the thinking behind Wednesday.

30:46.380 --> 30:48.940
And if anybody at home believes Wednesday,

30:50.220 --> 30:53.500
that's okay because at least you're not denying Matthew 12-40.

30:54.220 --> 30:58.060
When I believed Wednesday, the way that I reconciled it was

30:58.620 --> 31:01.500
I would just say, well, Jesus didn't actually die right at 3 p.m.

31:02.300 --> 31:04.300
That's the last timestamp we have.

31:04.860 --> 31:08.380
But my thought was that he actually died at like 6 p.m.

31:09.980 --> 31:12.620
And then that starts the 72 hours.

31:12.620 --> 31:16.540
And then you have basically Christ rising from the grave

31:17.340 --> 31:19.020
during the night of Saturday night.

31:19.020 --> 31:24.620
So basically, he comes to life at 6 p.m. on Saturday night,

31:24.620 --> 31:27.500
which is technically the first day of the week

31:27.500 --> 31:29.900
because the evening and the morning were the first day.

31:30.460 --> 31:33.100
So then that's your 72 hours.

31:33.100 --> 31:38.780
And then you have Christ rising from the dead in the night coming out of the tomb.

31:38.780 --> 31:41.180
And look, I don't agree with it.

31:41.180 --> 31:41.900
I don't believe in it.

31:41.900 --> 31:43.340
That's what I used to believe.

31:43.340 --> 31:45.020
That's how you'd make it work.

31:45.100 --> 31:49.660
That's how you get the 72 hours exactly of death

31:49.660 --> 31:55.420
is just dying on the cross at 6 p.m., being buried.

31:56.300 --> 31:58.620
And look, of course, there are problems with it.

31:58.620 --> 32:01.740
But I'm just saying that's where the Wednesday crowd is coming from.

32:02.300 --> 32:06.780
Yeah, and I can understand if that was true, if he died at 6 p.m.

32:07.340 --> 32:12.540
and then he rose at 6 a.m., you could have your 72 hours potentially.

32:12.540 --> 32:17.740
The problem with that view is that we understand that they had to bury Jesus Christ's body

32:17.740 --> 32:22.220
and they were trying to hastily so that they would do it before the evening had switched

32:22.220 --> 32:25.420
because they were going to go into the 15th day, which was a Sabbath day,

32:25.420 --> 32:27.100
and they couldn't do that work.

32:27.100 --> 32:31.100
And additionally, we understand that the women going to see Jesus Christ

32:31.100 --> 32:35.580
were already coming before the sun had even came to dawn and he'd already risen.

32:35.580 --> 32:40.220
So it kind of doesn't really gel with the context

32:40.220 --> 32:44.220
and a lot of the other things that are happening during those periods of time.

32:45.180 --> 32:49.020
It also seems pretty clear to me when you read the passage about

32:49.020 --> 32:51.980
the ninth hour that that's the moment that he died.

32:51.980 --> 32:56.140
So if, you know, again, if you understand that as to when he died,

32:56.140 --> 32:59.260
then you couldn't have that perfect 6 p.m.

32:59.260 --> 33:03.260
Well, that is when he died because like you said,

33:03.260 --> 33:09.180
they need time to stab him with a spear, make sure he's dead,

33:09.260 --> 33:13.580
water and blood come out, they need time to take him down from the cross,

33:13.580 --> 33:17.580
they need time to take his body to the tomb, get it in the tomb,

33:17.580 --> 33:21.500
and that all technically should be happening before 6 p.m.

33:21.500 --> 33:25.820
And so that's why the 3 p.m. time of death works.

33:25.820 --> 33:30.220
Okay, but, you know, I'm just saying for the Wednesday view,

33:31.340 --> 33:35.660
the reason that I liked the idea of him dying at 6 p.m.

33:35.660 --> 33:38.380
is because then like the Passover is being killed at even.

33:39.580 --> 33:42.380
So I kind of liked that aspect of it.

33:42.380 --> 33:45.820
And then if he comes back to life at 6 p.m.

33:46.780 --> 33:52.380
as, you know, on Saturday night becoming, you know, the first day of the week,

33:52.380 --> 33:55.820
then he rises from the grave during the night and then they get there early

33:55.820 --> 33:57.420
and he's already gone and whatever.

33:57.420 --> 34:01.660
But again, you know, there are problems with it because number one,

34:01.660 --> 34:06.140
you need all the time for that stuff to happen between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

34:06.140 --> 34:07.660
as you as you mentioned.

34:07.660 --> 34:14.140
And also there's just something just seems off about Christ like rising from the dead

34:15.420 --> 34:18.140
way before Sunday morning like like, you know what I mean?

34:18.140 --> 34:21.100
Like like rising that early in the night.

34:21.100 --> 34:23.340
Something doesn't feel right about that either.

34:23.340 --> 34:27.900
So those are some some of the things that that I never really liked about the Wednesday view.

34:28.540 --> 34:29.500
Some of the difficulties.

34:29.500 --> 34:34.700
Right. Well, and again, if you kind of think about the sacrifice itself,

34:34.700 --> 34:37.340
because, you know, obviously Christ is the ultimate Passover,

34:37.340 --> 34:40.860
but they've been performing Passover for centuries here

34:40.860 --> 34:44.460
and they need time to slaughter the animal, drain the blood,

34:44.460 --> 34:48.060
roast it with fire and get it all set up so that they can eat it

34:48.060 --> 34:51.740
because they have to have all that work done before the Sabbath,

34:51.740 --> 34:53.420
before the sun goes down.

34:53.420 --> 34:58.060
So that's like a really important aspect of the fact is the Bible is like super clear.

34:58.860 --> 35:00.620
I believe in Leviticus 23.

35:01.340 --> 35:07.420
I want to say it's either Leviticus 23 or Exodus 12 that there's no work to be done whatsoever

35:07.420 --> 35:09.420
on that 15th day except for eating.

35:09.420 --> 35:12.060
Like that's the only thing they're allowed to do is to eat.

35:12.060 --> 35:13.340
So they have to do it in haste.

35:13.340 --> 35:14.300
They have to do it quickly.

35:14.300 --> 35:16.940
And again, even the first Passover is supposed to be done in haste

35:16.940 --> 35:20.220
because they have to spread the blood of the lamb on the doorposts.

35:20.220 --> 35:23.260
And it's it's kind of something that they need to do very quickly.

35:23.260 --> 35:25.980
There's a sense of urgency about it.

35:25.980 --> 35:30.380
And so you see that sense of urgency carrying forward into the New Testament with Jesus Christ.

35:30.460 --> 35:36.060
How they need to get this body in the tomb and then buried before the Sabbath.

35:36.060 --> 35:40.300
And I think, you know, God probably has a lot of reasons why this is true.

35:40.300 --> 35:43.900
One reason is probably also true is they wanted to get his body wound up

35:43.900 --> 35:46.140
and bound very quickly so that it saw no corruption.

35:46.140 --> 35:50.220
Because the Bible says very clearly that Jesus Christ's body saw no corruption.

35:50.220 --> 35:50.780
Well, here's the thing.

35:50.780 --> 35:53.820
If Jesus Christ's body is dead and it's hanging on this cross

35:54.620 --> 35:59.020
for the whole Sabbath time period, like the Jews are not allowed to touch his body for that

35:59.020 --> 36:05.100
whole time, the chances of it seeing corruption are really high just from animals and buzzards

36:05.100 --> 36:07.100
and just like all kinds of other things.

36:07.100 --> 36:11.820
So it's like really, really important that his body gets bound up and put in the tomb

36:11.820 --> 36:17.100
so that it can see no corruption apart from obviously the stabbing and the nails from the

36:17.100 --> 36:19.740
cross and everything that he experienced there.

36:19.740 --> 36:23.180
And so there's a lot of events there that need to take place.

36:24.140 --> 36:26.140
I believe I don't have this.

36:26.140 --> 36:27.260
See if we can go to the Bible.

36:27.260 --> 36:33.340
I want to see pull up a verse when it's Joseph of Arimathea craving the body of Jesus

36:33.340 --> 36:38.860
because it actually makes it kind of clear from a timeline perspective here what we're talking about.

36:39.580 --> 36:44.620
Well, and another thing is they don't want to leave him hanging on the cross throughout

36:44.620 --> 36:52.380
the Sabbath because of the fact that you remember the verse in Deuteronomy about if they, you know,

36:52.380 --> 36:54.860
cursed is he that hangeth from a tree.

36:55.500 --> 37:01.100
And so when they hang someone from a tree, they're supposed to remove the body before

37:01.100 --> 37:02.300
sundown as well.

37:03.260 --> 37:07.180
And so they have to do that before the Sabbath because that's, you know, they're not supposed

37:07.180 --> 37:09.100
to be doing that kind of work on the Sabbath, right?

37:10.060 --> 37:10.300
Yeah.

37:11.020 --> 37:13.980
There's a verse I want to go to in Mark chapter 15.

37:13.980 --> 37:17.100
It's verses 42 and 43.

37:17.100 --> 37:19.100
We're just going to pull up like Bible Gateway or something.

37:19.100 --> 37:20.460
See if we can pull that up on the screen.

37:20.460 --> 37:28.620
Mark chapter 15 verses 42 and 43 because we're talking about the death of Jesus Christ.

37:28.620 --> 37:31.180
The Bible gives a couple pretty clear verses.

37:34.860 --> 37:35.820
I'm just going to start reading.

37:35.820 --> 37:37.100
Maybe we can pull it up here in a second.

37:37.100 --> 37:38.780
Mark chapter 15 verse 42.

37:38.780 --> 37:45.500
And now when the even was come because it was the preparation, that is the day before

37:45.660 --> 37:50.940
the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counselor, which also waited for the kingdom

37:50.940 --> 37:54.940
of God came and went boldly on the pilot and craved the body of Jesus.

37:54.940 --> 37:59.900
So it's saying in verse 42 that it was the day of preparation.

37:59.900 --> 38:03.980
It's the day before the Sabbath so that they haven't switched days yet, meaning that we

38:03.980 --> 38:07.900
haven't actually crossed over that 6 p.m. threshold.

38:07.900 --> 38:12.380
And it says in verse 45, and when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body.

38:12.380 --> 38:13.500
I'm sorry, verse 44.

38:13.500 --> 38:18.140
And pilot marveled if he were already dead and calling unto him the centurion, he asked

38:18.140 --> 38:21.100
him whether he had been any while dead.

38:21.100 --> 38:24.380
And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

38:24.380 --> 38:32.220
So in Mark chapter 15, it's clear that well, like at least a some period of time before

38:32.220 --> 38:37.180
the day had switched, before we crossed over that Joseph of Arimathea was already asking

38:37.180 --> 38:38.940
for the dead body of Jesus Christ.

38:38.940 --> 38:43.180
And it's been certified by the centurions and pilot acknowledges it and gives him the

38:43.180 --> 38:43.900
body.

38:43.900 --> 38:47.180
So and he was kind of surprised at how quickly it had happened.

38:47.180 --> 38:52.860
So in the other, I believe the other two thieves actually had to have their legs break to die

38:52.860 --> 38:54.380
because they hadn't died yet.

38:54.380 --> 39:00.620
And so or they were pierced with the spear to, you know, I don't know exactly.

39:00.620 --> 39:04.540
So they had their legs broken, which was the standard practice.

39:05.180 --> 39:11.180
But when the Roman soldier sees that Jesus is already dead,

39:11.340 --> 39:13.340
he doesn't break his legs.

39:13.340 --> 39:19.660
And so he does something that's like unusual or out of the ordinary by stabbing him.

39:19.660 --> 39:21.900
And of course, this fulfills the scripture.

39:21.900 --> 39:27.340
They shall look on, you know, me whom they have pierced and the blood and water running

39:27.340 --> 39:29.980
out has significance and so forth.

39:29.980 --> 39:30.540
Yes.

39:30.540 --> 39:35.660
And and that there was no bone of him broken, which you would think there was no bone broken

39:36.140 --> 39:38.700
that that would be kind of contradictory because it was crucified.

39:38.860 --> 39:43.340
You think like, oh, they're going to break his bones, but then they ended up not.

39:44.140 --> 39:47.020
So there's a lot of prophecy there.

39:47.020 --> 39:48.780
But again, that makes sense.

39:48.780 --> 39:52.300
If you look at my chart, see, you can probably pull that up again pretty quickly.

39:52.300 --> 39:57.900
Down on the bottom right, I actually have kind of a blown up version of Thursday.

39:57.900 --> 40:01.660
So you can kind of see like a little general timeline of what happened.

40:01.660 --> 40:05.020
But at 6am, they said, behold your king.

40:05.020 --> 40:08.940
Now, that's kind of significant because they're supposed to like present the lamb

40:08.940 --> 40:11.820
and they're like presenting lamb on that specific day.

40:11.820 --> 40:14.220
So this is like that picture of them presenting the lamb.

40:14.220 --> 40:18.300
Then they crucified him at 9am, which I have the verse there.

40:18.300 --> 40:22.300
Then at noon, there was darkness over the whole land.

40:22.940 --> 40:27.260
And then essentially at three is which the Bible says is the night hour.

40:28.460 --> 40:30.940
That's when Jesus Christ gave up the ghost.

40:30.940 --> 40:32.940
Now, again, I put on the chart three to four p.m.

40:32.940 --> 40:37.180
Because I don't know if it necessarily happened at three zero zero p.m.

40:37.180 --> 40:39.500
Or if it happened at three fifteen or three thirty or whatever.

40:39.500 --> 40:41.260
Just just in the ninth hour.

40:42.060 --> 40:48.700
And then that basically gives them two plus hours to take him off the for him to be stabbed,

40:48.700 --> 40:52.700
taken off the cross for him to be wound up and then taken to the sepulcher.

40:52.700 --> 40:55.100
And they make it really clear that the sepulcher was very close.

40:55.660 --> 40:59.900
So they had an opportunity like they didn't have to travel a very great distance to take his body there.

41:00.860 --> 41:05.180
So while you have this chart pulled up to if you could put the chart back on the screen,

41:05.180 --> 41:09.020
I want to say that back when I held to the Wednesday view,

41:09.020 --> 41:15.020
because I had done my own deep dive on this, obviously it was the teaching that I had grown up with.

41:15.020 --> 41:20.460
But I'd also gone to the scripture and done the deep dive myself and I still came up with Wednesday.

41:20.460 --> 41:23.500
And I'll tell you the reason that I was wrong.

41:23.500 --> 41:29.660
The mistake that I made was I still had essentially a lot of the same things on the timeline as you

41:29.740 --> 41:37.180
have here as far as like the 10th day being Palm Sunday and the 17th day being the following Sunday

41:37.180 --> 41:38.860
when Christ rose and everything like that.

41:39.500 --> 41:45.180
The mistake that I was making though is that I thought of the 13th day as the preparation day

41:46.060 --> 41:56.060
and that they're basically eating the Passover on Wednesday evening as it's becoming the 14th.

41:56.940 --> 42:02.860
That was one of the obstacles that I had to overcome in order to understand that it's

42:02.860 --> 42:07.260
actually Thursday is that I had the 13th labeled as the preparation day.

42:07.260 --> 42:13.260
And then that creates problems with some of the verses, which is why there were always some things

42:13.260 --> 42:15.660
that didn't quite sit well with me about the Wednesday view.

42:16.540 --> 42:21.420
And so that's why and I used to say back then like that I believed it was Wednesday,

42:21.420 --> 42:23.260
but I used to say it might be Thursday.

42:23.260 --> 42:28.780
I used to say, I think it's like 90% that it's Wednesday, 10% that it's Thursday.

42:29.420 --> 42:31.580
Now I'm 100% that it's Thursday.

42:34.380 --> 42:36.540
Or at least 99.9.

42:38.060 --> 42:39.340
I thought it was for sure Wednesday.

42:39.340 --> 42:44.060
I thought that the Bible was really clear on it and then I kind of proved myself wrong,

42:44.060 --> 42:49.340
which for me after giving up, it was Mark that changed my mind because again, Mark

42:49.980 --> 42:56.140
actually gives you so many different markers of time that I started realizing like, hey,

42:56.140 --> 42:59.740
Mark's actually kind of fitting this all together because you have Palm Sunday,

42:59.740 --> 43:04.300
then you have the day when he cursed the fig tree, then the next day he comes and he sees

43:04.300 --> 43:05.660
the fig tree that he cursed.

43:05.660 --> 43:08.380
Then it says, hey, after two days of the feast of the Passover.

43:08.380 --> 43:11.020
And I was like, wow, that just puts it right on Thursday.

43:11.580 --> 43:14.620
And then that actually jives with every other verse.

43:15.260 --> 43:22.140
And so by just kind of plotting them all together, it kind of to me fit really obviously,

43:23.580 --> 43:29.500
and again, the 14th day being the preparation day is really important because you have to kind of

43:29.500 --> 43:31.260
understand the context of what they're doing.

43:31.820 --> 43:35.180
They have to do a lot of work to enjoy the seven days.

43:35.180 --> 43:37.740
And so they have to get all these things prepared.

43:37.740 --> 43:42.620
Now, even the preparation day itself does technically have a little bit of prep.

43:43.180 --> 43:47.420
So there is a verse that I want to bring up here on this chart.

43:47.420 --> 43:49.260
It's the first day of the feast of 11 bread.

43:49.900 --> 43:51.580
There's four different references to it.

43:51.580 --> 43:53.180
Go if you would to the Excel spreadsheet.

43:53.180 --> 43:57.260
This is what I want you to go to is the Excel spreadsheet because this is a verse that I kind

43:57.260 --> 43:59.980
of struggled with at first to kind of understand here.

44:00.780 --> 44:05.740
Scroll if you would to the purple, bring that up more in the middle of the screen if you can.

44:05.740 --> 44:12.140
But in the purple section, this is again, that Tuesday, I'm sorry, the Wednesday timeline.

44:12.140 --> 44:14.940
So this is Wednesday that we're looking at.

44:14.940 --> 44:17.660
And I kind of made this chart where it shows that it's Wednesday.

44:17.660 --> 44:22.460
But this is in Mark 14 verse 12, this is what it says.

44:22.460 --> 44:27.100
And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the Passover,

44:27.100 --> 44:32.940
his disciples said unto him, where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayst eat the Passover?

44:32.940 --> 44:37.180
So like a verse like this to me kind of would lead me to believe what you said,

44:37.180 --> 44:41.020
Pastor Anderson, that it's like, oh, they're like eating the Passover,

44:41.020 --> 44:43.980
maybe on that Wednesday at the Last Supper.

44:44.700 --> 44:46.700
It's kind of a little bit confusing.

44:46.700 --> 44:50.780
But how you can understand this, I want to flip back to the chart in this.

44:50.780 --> 44:57.340
But if you go back to the chart, what it's actually saying here is that on Wednesday,

44:57.340 --> 45:01.180
and I'm just going to throw out a time, this is arbitrary, but let's just say it's like 3pm.

45:01.180 --> 45:02.940
It's 3pm on Wednesday.

45:02.940 --> 45:08.940
His disciples look at them and they say, hey, this is the first day of unleavened bread.

45:09.820 --> 45:11.420
What does that mean?

45:11.420 --> 45:16.220
Well, if you notice at the top of my chart, you kind of have these little curly braces at the top

45:16.220 --> 45:17.180
of the 14th day.

45:17.180 --> 45:21.260
The 14th day actually does happen on Wednesday.

45:21.260 --> 45:23.900
It happens at 6pm on Wednesday.

45:23.900 --> 45:31.020
So it would be accurate for them in a sense from a Roman calendar day to say today,

45:31.020 --> 45:36.060
or this is the day of the feast of unleavened bread that's going to happen that specific day

45:36.140 --> 45:39.580
because their Jewish calendar falls on Wednesday.

45:39.580 --> 45:41.020
It falls on that evening.

45:41.580 --> 45:45.820
Now, then it has this qualifier when they killed the Passover.

45:45.820 --> 45:50.620
Well, when they killed the Passover is specifically the 14th day.

45:50.620 --> 45:55.100
They're not going to kill it at 6pm, but it is going to happen on the 14th day.

45:55.100 --> 45:57.020
So this is kind of an analogy I thought of.

45:58.220 --> 46:03.180
If we had a Jewish calendar, which we don't, and that's how we celebrated Christmas,

46:03.900 --> 46:10.780
if it was Christmas Eve, if it was the 24th of December and it's 3pm,

46:11.340 --> 46:16.060
and let's just say again, our Jewish calendar is going to make Christmas day start at 6pm that day.

46:16.060 --> 46:20.780
And I just said, hey, today's the day when it's going to be Christmas when people open presents.

46:21.580 --> 46:24.220
Well, again, we may not even open the presents at 6pm.

46:24.220 --> 46:27.980
We may wait until the morning on the 25th to open the presents,

46:28.540 --> 46:32.940
but it's accurate to say on the 24th that that was Christmas day because it's going to overlap

46:32.940 --> 46:40.060
on that time period. So again, it's sometimes a little confusing just because a Jewish calendar

46:40.060 --> 46:47.660
day starts at 6pm, whereas Roman days start at midnight. And this is a pretty well-established

46:47.660 --> 46:52.220
fact. I mean, you can even look it up, Roman calendar and when they calculated noon,

46:52.220 --> 46:59.660
they basically calculated noon as a major event. And so they counted 12 hours, they get to 12am.

46:59.660 --> 47:04.540
And that's basically how they started calculating days. This was centuries before Jesus Christ was

47:04.540 --> 47:09.980
even born that the Romans had this idea. Some literature even suggested the Greeks also

47:10.860 --> 47:16.620
observed a similar practice. I'm not an expert historian on this, but again, this is for sure

47:16.620 --> 47:22.380
a practice that Rome was observing at the time of Christ and well before Christ. And it's existed

47:22.380 --> 47:27.500
all the way till today. And think about it this way, much of our calendar has remained the same.

47:27.500 --> 47:34.460
Considering the fact that it's 2024, which is 2024 years from Christ. And again, it's not exact,

47:34.460 --> 47:38.780
but that's around the time that we believe that he was born. We're going to talk about a little

47:38.780 --> 47:45.020
bit later in the broadcast, exactly what year Christ was born and exactly what year Christ died.

47:45.020 --> 47:48.620
But I want to say this, this verse that you're talking about in Matthew right now,

47:48.620 --> 47:54.860
I remember back when you and I were going back and forth about this, this verse was the one that

47:54.860 --> 47:59.900
actually made me come over to the Thursday view. I remember the moment in my mind when I'm like,

47:59.900 --> 48:05.820
you know what, you're right, Pastor Shelley, it's Thursday. It was literally this verse because of

48:05.820 --> 48:12.380
the fact that there's always been this kind of contradiction that I couldn't quite reconcile

48:13.180 --> 48:18.940
about. And people bring this up a lot, even just other biblical scholars out there in the world.

48:19.660 --> 48:24.140
Is he crucified the day before the Passover? Is he crucified on the Passover? And it's like,

48:25.340 --> 48:31.500
this verse right here actually works with the Thursday view in light of everything else.

48:31.500 --> 48:35.660
Whereas with the Wednesday view, there are some irreconcilable differences here.

48:36.300 --> 48:43.180
And so, once I understood what you just explained about this verse, to me that just kind of

48:43.180 --> 48:49.180
solved the last problem that I had as far as trying to reconcile the Passion Week. And that's

48:49.180 --> 48:55.340
when I was like, okay, I'm sold. And the thing that is good about the Thursday view is that it

48:55.340 --> 49:03.340
really deals with every verse. Your chart deals with every verse. And in my mind, it solves all

49:03.340 --> 49:09.660
the problems. And so everything works, everything fits. Whereas with the Wednesday view, you have a

49:09.660 --> 49:15.500
few uncomfortable things. With the Friday view, you have this elephant in the room of it can't be

49:15.500 --> 49:21.340
three days and three nights. I feel like the Thursday view is the comprehensive view.

49:22.460 --> 49:28.460
Well, and again, a point that I was trying to get at is this. In Exodus, it made it clear that

49:28.460 --> 49:35.100
they're not even allowed to eat leavened bread on the 14th day. So if you think about it, that's why

49:35.100 --> 49:40.700
the disciples had to go and set up for the Lord's Supper or prepare for the Lord's Supper before it

49:40.700 --> 49:46.700
even happened because they had to make sure that they had no leaven for the last supper, even though

49:46.700 --> 49:51.340
that wasn't the event that they were going to eat the Passover. The preparation day is a specific

49:51.340 --> 49:57.260
day too. So it's kind of like it goes in stages. Stage one, prepare and make sure you're not going

49:57.260 --> 50:02.060
to have any unleavened bread. And then on the 14th day, they're really busy with the lamb because

50:02.060 --> 50:07.580
they have to present the lamb and then they have to get it ready and then they have to slaughter it

50:08.300 --> 50:12.140
and cook it. So they're really dealing a lot with the lamb so they don't have time to be dealing

50:12.140 --> 50:18.860
with all the bread. So that's why- So at the Last Supper, they're eating unleavened bread

50:18.860 --> 50:25.500
because it's already the 14th. That's why they're saying a few hours later, oh, hey, the day has

50:25.500 --> 50:30.860
arrived from a Roman perspective. The day has arrived. And then they get there that night,

50:30.860 --> 50:35.100
they're eating unleavened bread. They're not eating a lamb at the Last Supper.

50:35.100 --> 50:41.500
Right. Well, they would have been busy getting that ready too. Think about it. If that verse was

50:42.060 --> 50:46.620
when they were going to eat the lamb, then this time when they're talking, he would have been like,

50:46.620 --> 50:49.500
let's get a lamb, let's slaughter it, let's start cooking, let's roast it with fire because we're

50:49.500 --> 50:53.420
going to have to eat this thing. And then everybody else would have been like, what are you guys doing?

50:53.420 --> 50:57.260
Because this is a day early. What are you even doing? It wouldn't even make sense, right?

50:57.260 --> 51:02.140
Right. Well, everybody would be doing the same thing. So you would just see everybody-

51:02.300 --> 51:07.820
They wouldn't be doing the same thing. No, I'm saying if Jesus was eating a lamb at the Last

51:07.820 --> 51:13.020
Supper, he'd be doing it 24 hours before everybody else. Am I right?

51:14.220 --> 51:19.020
Well, I'm just saying that- Because they're eating the Passover

51:19.900 --> 51:25.020
on Thursday night. That's why I remember they don't want to come in the judgment hall because-

51:25.020 --> 51:28.700
I know. I'm saying all those verses contradict that view. I was going to bring that up. It's

51:29.660 --> 51:34.460
it's super clear that no one else has eaten the Sabbath yet because they're making it clear they

51:34.460 --> 51:37.740
don't want to file themselves so they can eat the Sabbath and they can eat the Passover.

51:38.380 --> 51:42.060
Like there's all this conversation about that in the text. So there's no way they just had the

51:42.060 --> 51:46.620
Passover unless, like you said, him and his disciples are just having a completely different

51:46.620 --> 51:52.860
day as everybody else or something. That's what I'm saying. But this has actually been

51:53.500 --> 51:59.980
like a controversy in Christianity for a long time of like, why is Jesus doing the Passover

51:59.980 --> 52:04.540
a day early and whatever? And there are even people out there that say, oh, he's doing the

52:04.540 --> 52:11.660
Essene calendar, the Essene Passover, and the Jews are doing a different calendar, which is obviously

52:11.660 --> 52:18.220
bogus. But this is something that people bring up a lot as something difficult to reconcile.

52:18.860 --> 52:23.900
I feel like once you understand the Thursday view and understand that the Roman calendar

52:23.900 --> 52:28.940
is intersecting with the Jewish calendar, then it fixes everything. It fixes the contradiction.

52:29.740 --> 52:37.500
And that's what I like about it. I feel like Thursday view is so rewarding because it fixes

52:37.500 --> 52:45.660
that age-old question that a lot of people have been confused by. Are Jesus and disciples doing

52:45.660 --> 52:50.540
the Passover early or what's going on? But it makes sense if you understand that, well,

52:50.540 --> 52:57.660
they're not eating the lamb. They're just starting to do the unleavened bread because it's the 14th.

52:57.660 --> 52:58.140
Right. Exactly.

52:58.140 --> 53:00.860
So they're starting to observe that. That makes sense.

53:00.860 --> 53:04.700
Because it's an eight-day feast. Even though it's seven days of unleavened bread,

53:04.700 --> 53:09.580
you constantly hear that, hear that, but that's just a portion of the feast. The 14th day is also

53:09.580 --> 53:15.340
part of this special event, a special holiday that you would celebrate. And it's technically

53:15.340 --> 53:21.660
an eight-day feast that includes the whole preparation day is a big portion of this

53:21.660 --> 53:26.620
particular feast. And so I think that there's a lot of verses here that you have to get in your mind

53:27.740 --> 53:33.580
to understand, to reconcile. But once you slowly put the pieces together, and I think a chart helps,

53:33.580 --> 53:39.740
I'm a visual learner. So for me, unless I had that chronology written out or have a chart,

53:39.740 --> 53:42.700
it's really difficult for me to ever comprehend what we're talking about.

53:43.500 --> 53:46.380
Go back to this chart. I want to show one more thing here that's kind of interesting

53:47.260 --> 53:55.100
with the Thursday view is since he died on Thursday, well, according to Exodus,

53:55.100 --> 53:59.180
you would have a special holy convocation on the next day. That's what the Bible says,

53:59.180 --> 54:04.060
or the first day of the seven days of unleavened bread, which would be the 15th day.

54:04.060 --> 54:08.700
And so I have kind of highlighted up there in the chart, the 15th is in red feast day.

54:09.420 --> 54:15.500
This is a Sabbath day and it's a high day. It's mentioned in the scripture as being a high day,

54:15.500 --> 54:20.940
meaning it's not just a normal Sabbath. This is like a special Sabbath day that is to be observed.

54:20.940 --> 54:27.100
Then of course, if he died on Thursday, you run into another Sabbath. That's just how it works on

54:27.100 --> 54:34.220
the 16th. So basically you have the vast majority of the time or virtually the whole time while

54:34.220 --> 54:42.620
Christ is in hell, you have a Sabbath of man resting, which kind of pictures an interesting

54:42.620 --> 54:48.380
point of while Christ is doing the work for us, we're resting, similar to how in the gospel,

54:48.380 --> 54:53.740
we simply rest in his finished work and the work that he did for our salvation and for the gospel.

54:53.740 --> 54:58.220
And then he rises again on the first day of the week, which is the 17th. Now, what's interesting

54:58.220 --> 55:02.300
about this is in Leviticus, I believe it's in Leviticus. I would have to double check the

55:02.300 --> 55:07.980
reference, but it brings up the idea of doing a wave offering or the first fruits offering.

55:07.980 --> 55:14.380
And it's going to be happening right after this specific 15th day. Well, you wouldn't have it on

55:14.380 --> 55:19.180
the 16th in our view because you run into another Sabbath. So you'd have to wait a whole other day,

55:19.180 --> 55:23.020
which means that their first fruit offering would have been on the 17th day, which would have been

55:24.220 --> 55:29.340
Sunday, which corresponds exactly to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is our first

55:29.340 --> 55:33.340
fruits. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is our first fruit. And then they have to wait

55:34.300 --> 55:39.740
to reap the rest of their harvest. So there's a time gap, which is exactly what we have in

55:39.740 --> 55:43.740
biblical prophecy where Jesus Christ is the first risen from the dead. It's going to be a time gap.

55:43.740 --> 55:47.980
And then there's going to be the rapture or the great harvest where the Christians are going to

55:47.980 --> 55:54.300
be harvested. And so all of these feast days actually picture and foreshadow future events

55:54.300 --> 55:59.900
and Jesus Christ and the rapture and the harvest. And it's really kind of incredible.

55:59.900 --> 56:05.660
I don't understand how people that can see these truths in the Bible couldn't just understand that

56:05.660 --> 56:12.220
the Bible is the word of God. I mean, there's no way man is writing this. This is just an incredible

56:12.220 --> 56:18.460
masterpiece that is beyond human comprehension, all the intricacies. And not only that, not only

56:18.460 --> 56:23.820
this narrative get written like this, this Bible has stood the test of time. Like he's writing

56:23.820 --> 56:26.780
about these things that are going to happen thousands of years in the future. And then they

56:26.780 --> 56:31.820
happen exactly like they did thousands of years in the future. I mean, that is extreme. That's

56:31.820 --> 56:36.460
impossible. There's no way you could do something like that. I mean, the Bible is just so evident

56:36.460 --> 56:43.660
that it's true. And these prophecies of Jesus Christ are super incredible. I want to get,

56:43.660 --> 56:46.860
if we have any callers, I know I want to be sensitive to people on their lunch break or

56:46.860 --> 56:51.900
whatever. If you want to call in, you can call in 231-Baptist. Ask a question. If we can't go to

56:51.900 --> 56:56.780
you right away, you can just leave your question and we'll try to answer it on the show. 231-Baptist

56:56.780 --> 57:02.860
put one in the chat. Some people are saying, oh, it's Friday. You're twisting scripture.

57:02.860 --> 57:09.100
Yeah. So real quick. So let me kind of play the devil's advocate again and kind of give

57:09.100 --> 57:16.700
the evidence for Friday. Sure. Which like I said, I've never even entertained Friday because it just

57:16.700 --> 57:23.500
violates Matthew 12 40 period. End of story. But what the Friday crowd has going for them

57:24.060 --> 57:30.460
is the verses saying that Jesus is crucified on the preparation of the Sabbath. That's what they

57:30.460 --> 57:36.140
have going for them. All these verses saying that Christ is crucified the day before the Sabbath,

57:36.140 --> 57:40.300
the preparation for the Sabbath, a lot of verse like that. And then they're just thinking that's

57:40.300 --> 57:45.340
Friday, day before the Sabbath must be Friday. But the problem is that they're not recognizing

57:45.340 --> 57:51.740
that in John it says that Sabbath was a high day. And they're also not recognizing the fact

57:51.740 --> 57:57.580
that holidays in the Old Testament are called Sabbaths. You know, you can go to Old Testament

57:57.580 --> 58:04.860
scripture and show where he will call things like the day of atonement or just just holidays that

58:04.860 --> 58:10.780
don't necessarily fall on Saturday. He calls those a Sabbath of rest unto you because the word Shabbat

58:11.420 --> 58:19.260
just simply means rest or ceasing from work. And so what they're not understanding is that when it

58:19.260 --> 58:23.900
says it's the preparation for the Sabbath, it's not talking about the Saturday Sabbath. It's talking

58:23.900 --> 58:31.500
about the Sabbath. That's the holiday, the 15th day of the month. And really that's the only

58:31.500 --> 58:37.020
compelling argument that the Friday crowd has is just all the verses about it being the preparation

58:37.020 --> 58:42.460
for the Sabbath or, you know, Christ crucified, they rest during the Sabbath and then Christ

58:42.460 --> 58:48.620
raises. But what they're not understanding is that there are two Sabbaths back to back. The 15th is

58:48.620 --> 58:55.980
a Sabbath of rest unto the Israelites because it's a holiday. And then they have the Saturday. It's

58:55.980 --> 59:05.100
a three day weekend, folks. Bring up that verse that you were talking about. So in John 19 verse 31,

59:05.980 --> 59:09.660
we actually have kind of a verse that you're alluding to. It says the Jews, therefore,

59:09.660 --> 59:14.780
because it was the preparation that the body should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day,

59:15.420 --> 59:20.700
for that Sabbath day was an high day, the slot pilot that their legs might be broken, that they

59:20.700 --> 59:26.060
might be taken away. So again, you're right that it's saying the Sabbath day there. But it tells

59:26.060 --> 59:31.820
us like real explicitly, this isn't just like a normal Sabbath day. This is a high day. What would

59:31.820 --> 59:36.460
be the justification for that clarification if it was just a normal Sabbath? Yeah, if it were just,

59:36.460 --> 59:41.660
let's say it were Saturday, it wouldn't be like, well, here, let me explain to you why they can't

59:41.660 --> 59:46.540
do any work on this day. Like there'd be no explanation needed. Saturday is the Sabbath.

59:46.540 --> 59:53.900
We get it done. But the fact that it's a high day is that it's not the normal Saturday Sabbath.

59:53.900 --> 01:00:00.540
It's a holiday Sabbath. Because again, the word Shabbat is simply referring to rest or ceasing

01:00:00.540 --> 01:00:07.260
from work. And you can find places where it will say that this is a Sabbath of rest unto you.

01:00:08.060 --> 01:00:13.660
It's Sabbath days are not just on Saturdays. It's any day that's any day where they're not

01:00:13.660 --> 01:00:22.220
supposed to work is a Sabbath of rest unto them. Right. So again, you know, there are some verses

01:00:22.220 --> 01:00:28.700
that kind of get brought up as suggesting other views. And there's an article from Got Questions.

01:00:28.700 --> 01:00:32.860
And I want to go to that just because I want to try and present the other side a little bit.

01:00:32.860 --> 01:00:39.340
And they have a article called on what day was Jesus crucified. And then they kind of lay out

01:00:39.340 --> 01:00:46.620
a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday view. Now in this specific article, if you scroll down a little bit,

01:00:48.300 --> 01:00:54.780
it's going to kind of talk about those different views. And we've probably addressed some of these

01:00:54.780 --> 01:01:01.660
things already. But I just kind of want to look at a few things. If he was crucified on a Friday,

01:01:02.540 --> 01:01:09.900
this is like kind of what you were bringing up, then you have those things the day before the

01:01:09.900 --> 01:01:14.940
Sabbath. So like Mark 15 42 is a verse that they're pointing to says that Jesus was crucified on the

01:01:14.940 --> 01:01:22.540
day before the Sabbath. And again, here they would just say that that's Saturday. But then

01:01:22.540 --> 01:01:28.540
towards the bottom, you'll notice right there it says according to the Friday view, the quote,

01:01:28.540 --> 01:01:34.140
three days and three nights prophecy of Matthew 1240 was fulfilled in that both Jesus and Jonah

01:01:34.140 --> 01:01:40.620
were quote confined in difficult situations where they could not move about freely for three periods

01:01:40.620 --> 01:01:46.140
of darkness night and three periods of light day. The three nights of confinement for Jesus were his

01:01:46.140 --> 01:01:52.060
arrest on Thursday night and his tomb and his time in the tomb Friday night and or Saturday,

01:01:52.780 --> 01:01:57.500
three days for Jesus were all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I mean, that's just stupid. It doesn't

01:01:57.500 --> 01:02:03.740
say confined. It says that the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the

01:02:03.740 --> 01:02:10.460
earth when he's arrested and before Herod and before Pilate. He's not in the heart of the earth.

01:02:10.460 --> 01:02:16.700
I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. Honestly, that was a really bad explanation. I've seen a Catholic

01:02:16.700 --> 01:02:23.500
website and they say, well, three days and three nights is just a phrase that just means three days.

01:02:23.500 --> 01:02:27.980
So we can't take it overly literal. But again, that's that's pretty much how Catholics are always

01:02:27.980 --> 01:02:31.660
with the Bible that when there's something that is clearly contradicts what they believe, it's just

01:02:31.660 --> 01:02:35.820
like, like graven images or something. It's like, oh, we don't want to take that overly literal or

01:02:35.820 --> 01:02:40.140
something. You know, it's kind of ironic when somebody who believes they're literally eating

01:02:40.140 --> 01:02:44.940
the body and blood of Jesus tells us not to take things too literally. Right. Talk about the pot

01:02:44.940 --> 01:02:50.140
calling the kettle black. They take everything too literally. Well, it's funny because when we take

01:02:50.140 --> 01:02:54.460
things metaphorically or spiritually, they take them literally. And then when we take them literally

01:02:54.460 --> 01:02:59.100
now, all of a sudden it's metaphorically. That's because they're wrong about literally everything

01:02:59.100 --> 01:03:03.500
because they're a bunch of pagan idolaters. Right. I mean, Catholic, if Catholics believe anything,

01:03:03.500 --> 01:03:08.620
it should almost just be suspect. I think that the only thing I can really think of that I agree

01:03:08.620 --> 01:03:13.580
with is Palm Sunday. Like I do agree with Palm Sunday. That's definitely matches and jives with

01:03:14.300 --> 01:03:18.700
scripture in the chart. But I think they're wrong. Even things they're right about. Even things

01:03:18.700 --> 01:03:23.260
they're right about. They find a way to screw it up. Well, they got like Ashwin and going on

01:03:23.260 --> 01:03:26.540
like the Virgin birth. You know, it's like, well, they're right on the Virgin birth. But then they

01:03:26.540 --> 01:03:33.660
make the Virgin birth weird, eternal. And they send it where she's eternally a virgin and, and how

01:03:34.300 --> 01:03:39.980
Jesus didn't even like come out of her birth canal. He had to like be beamed out like Star Trek or

01:03:39.980 --> 01:03:46.620
something. Like they find a way to ruin even the doctrines that they're somewhat right about.

01:03:47.420 --> 01:03:53.500
And so they have no authority. I mean, if anything, like you said, the fact that they believe in it,

01:03:53.500 --> 01:03:57.500
it doesn't make it more likely. It makes it less likely because they screw up everything that they

01:03:57.500 --> 01:04:03.660
touch virtually. I want to go back to that GotQuestions article. And what's interesting,

01:04:03.660 --> 01:04:09.180
and I don't want to go to it just yet, but I just want to note that they talk about the actual year

01:04:09.180 --> 01:04:16.620
in which Jesus was crucified. And they say, if you take a Friday view, Jesus was crucified in 8030.

01:04:16.620 --> 01:04:20.060
Now, if we scroll down to the Thursday view here in this GotQuestions article,

01:04:20.700 --> 01:04:25.260
it basically points to a lot of things that we brought up. The three days and three nights and

01:04:25.260 --> 01:04:32.300
how that reconciles a lot smoother. It actually makes sense. And essentially they talk about the

01:04:33.340 --> 01:04:41.180
Sabbath. They explain how that works and how there was two Sabbaths. And so just kind of exactly

01:04:41.180 --> 01:04:46.380
what we said. Then it's interesting. They even bring up the road to Emmaus point that I brought

01:04:46.380 --> 01:04:52.140
up. How was the third day since, which I think is just like a nail in the coffin. One thing that

01:04:52.140 --> 01:04:58.940
this article does say though is on a Thursday view, it would have been 8032. That is totally

01:04:58.940 --> 01:05:03.900
wrong. Right. We're going to talk about that. I want to talk about that in a minute. But honestly,

01:05:03.900 --> 01:05:08.780
if you read their Thursday view, other than that, it's pretty much exactly what we're saying. And

01:05:08.780 --> 01:05:15.580
it all sounds right. They don't even really bring up hardly any objections that would even make any

01:05:15.580 --> 01:05:19.420
sense. I don't even think they really point to anything that's a problem. It pretty much

01:05:19.420 --> 01:05:26.380
solves everything. But then they bring up the Wednesday view down at the bottom. And their

01:05:26.380 --> 01:05:32.460
strongest proof for a Wednesday is usually talking about the spices and talking about

01:05:33.020 --> 01:05:37.900
when the women came to purchase spices. So right here in kind of the first part of their paragraph,

01:05:38.540 --> 01:05:43.980
they say the women purchase spices after the Sabbath, according to Mark 16 verse

01:05:44.700 --> 01:05:49.660
one. So I want to go to Mark 16 verse one. And I want to talk about this for just a second,

01:05:49.660 --> 01:05:54.540
because I know there's other people that talk to me about this and they said that that was kind of

01:05:54.540 --> 01:06:02.860
a hang up for Thursday or a Friday view. And here's another thing to note though, is when they bring

01:06:02.860 --> 01:06:10.380
up Mark 16 verse one in this specific article, they bring up the ESV, which the ESV says,

01:06:10.940 --> 01:06:17.100
when the Sabbath was passed, Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James and Salome bought spices

01:06:17.100 --> 01:06:23.020
so that they might go and anoint him. So when you read the ESV, I'll grant you that it really

01:06:23.020 --> 01:06:28.460
does sound like the way it's worded. I mean, I don't even know if you can have any alternative

01:06:28.460 --> 01:06:34.700
view here that they bought spices after the Sabbath. Well, that could potentially present

01:06:34.700 --> 01:06:39.020
a problem for a Thursday view. I think it's actually solvable, but it would be a problem

01:06:39.020 --> 01:06:43.340
if you have that view and then you try and reconcile with other passages. So in Mark 16,

01:06:43.340 --> 01:06:48.540
one in the King James though, we pulled this up, it says, and when the Sabbath was passed,

01:06:48.540 --> 01:06:54.940
Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James and Salome had bought sweet spices that they

01:06:55.500 --> 01:07:02.380
might come and anoint him. Now, again, it's a little bit kind of an awkward sentence to me,

01:07:03.180 --> 01:07:08.380
but again, it says had bought, meaning it was a past tense. So I believe it just bringing up

01:07:08.380 --> 01:07:13.180
the fact that they had done this. It's not saying that it happened after the Sabbath has passed,

01:07:13.180 --> 01:07:17.340
it's just saying right now the Sabbath has passed and they're bringing with them the spices that

01:07:17.340 --> 01:07:25.660
they had bought. Well, here's what's going on. If the ESV, if we go with what the ESV were saying,

01:07:26.700 --> 01:07:32.620
then it would say when the Sabbath has passed, they bought the spices. Well, here's the thing,

01:07:33.180 --> 01:07:39.580
they could still buy the spices on Saturday evening because the Sabbath is sundown Friday

01:07:39.580 --> 01:07:46.620
to sundown Saturday, as we would think of it. So that means at 7.30 PM on Saturday, they could go

01:07:46.620 --> 01:07:54.780
buy spices. So that's no problem for the Thursday view or the Friday view in that sense. But I

01:07:54.780 --> 01:08:00.700
believe that the King James is accurate when it says that when the Sabbath was passed, they had

01:08:00.700 --> 01:08:05.260
bought spices. So after the Sabbath has passed, they'd already bought the spices, they're just

01:08:05.260 --> 01:08:09.900
taking them to the tomb. And the reason that the King James is correct is because the King James

01:08:09.900 --> 01:08:17.340
is taking into account Luke chapter 23, which I believe you're turning to and reconciling those

01:08:17.340 --> 01:08:24.140
two. And there's a similar thing going on in Genesis chapter 12 verse 1, where the King James

01:08:24.140 --> 01:08:30.940
says, the Lord had said to Abraham, get thee out of thy country and so forth. Whereas the ESV just

01:08:30.940 --> 01:08:36.220
says the Lord said to Abraham. And what it is is that they're making the mistake with the ESV

01:08:36.940 --> 01:08:42.860
of thinking that verb tenses in Hebrew and Greek work the same way as they work in English.

01:08:43.420 --> 01:08:49.020
And that just simply isn't the case. And so the King James translators understand the fact

01:08:49.580 --> 01:08:55.740
that these verb tenses are not necessarily one-to-one always going to translate into

01:08:55.740 --> 01:09:02.220
English the same way. And so in Genesis 12, 1, they're taking Acts 7 verse 2 into account

01:09:02.220 --> 01:09:08.700
that says that he got that message when he was back in Mesopotamia. And so that's why they

01:09:08.700 --> 01:09:15.500
correctly translated as the Lord had said to Abraham. And then same thing, or Abram, I should

01:09:15.500 --> 01:09:20.380
say. And then once we get into Mark 16, it's the same thing. The King James translators,

01:09:20.380 --> 01:09:26.700
they know what Luke 23 says. And so they're interpreting it as a past perfect in English

01:09:26.700 --> 01:09:33.260
they had bought to reconcile with Luke 23. They're still translating the same underlying Greek

01:09:33.900 --> 01:09:41.500
because the underlying Greek has room for both interpretations. But if you take the ESV interpretation,

01:09:41.500 --> 01:09:46.540
it ends up being misleading in English. In Greek, it's not misleading. In Greek,

01:09:46.540 --> 01:09:51.340
it could just go either way. But it becomes misleading the way the ESV translates it into

01:09:51.340 --> 01:09:58.140
English. The KJV translators are interpreting it in light of Luke 23 and giving the reader

01:09:58.140 --> 01:10:05.020
the correct impression. Well, and again, you're right that one solution would just simply to say

01:10:05.100 --> 01:10:11.740
that they bought spices after 6 p.m. on Saturday night. That totally could fix that verse. But

01:10:11.740 --> 01:10:16.380
again, I believe that it's correct that it's had bought and it's not referring to that time period.

01:10:16.380 --> 01:10:24.380
It's actually referring to Thursday between 3 and 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. because of what Luke 23 and 24

01:10:24.380 --> 01:10:29.500
says. Because if you read Luke 23 at the very end of the chapter in verse 54, I think we can pull it

01:10:29.500 --> 01:10:35.980
up. It says, in that day was the preparation and the Sabbath drew on. So it's saying the

01:10:35.980 --> 01:10:42.460
Sabbath is coming quickly. Verse 55, and the women also which came with him from Galilee followed

01:10:42.460 --> 01:10:48.780
after and beheld the sepulcher and how his body was laid. And they returned and prepared spices

01:10:48.780 --> 01:10:53.740
and ointments and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. So in Luke 23, they obviously

01:10:53.740 --> 01:10:59.020
have purchased spices and they've prepared them, which would be important because they're not going

01:10:59.020 --> 01:11:04.220
to do that on the Sabbath day because they can't do any work. And they're not going to do any work

01:11:04.220 --> 01:11:08.620
on Saturday and they want to do it as soon as they possibly can. So they have everything basically

01:11:08.620 --> 01:11:15.020
ready. And then if you look at chapter 24 verse 1, it says, now upon the first day of the week,

01:11:15.020 --> 01:11:20.380
very early in the morning, they came under the sepulcher bringing the spices which they had

01:11:20.380 --> 01:11:27.580
prepared and certain others with them. So there again, it's the spices that they had prepared,

01:11:27.580 --> 01:11:33.820
which was from context of chapter 23, the ones they had purchased on that specific Thursday

01:11:33.820 --> 01:11:39.260
beforehand. So I don't think the Got Questions article is bringing up a legitimate criticism

01:11:39.260 --> 01:11:44.860
of the Thursday view. I think it's actually very clear. I think it's just the ESVs wording. Yeah,

01:11:44.860 --> 01:11:49.500
sure. Maybe the ESV says it kind of weird and tries to create a contradiction. But even if you

01:11:49.500 --> 01:11:56.060
didn't believe in our view, it's just a contradiction. It's just like-

01:11:56.220 --> 01:12:05.420
Yeah, but the ESV reading still isn't a problem for Thursday because they just buy them on Saturday

01:12:05.420 --> 01:12:10.300
night. But then you'd have a little bit of a contradiction with Luke 23. And then you'd have

01:12:10.300 --> 01:12:17.900
to just say, well, they bought some spices on Thursday and then they bought some more on

01:12:17.900 --> 01:12:24.460
Saturday night or something. It's kind of a weak argument, to be honest, making it all about the

01:12:24.460 --> 01:12:30.620
spices when there's so much other clear evidence. I feel like emphasizing when they bought the

01:12:30.620 --> 01:12:35.260
spices is kind of silly because there are 10 different ways around this problem. And so

01:12:36.300 --> 01:12:40.940
to me, it's kind of a nothing burger. Well, if you go back to the Got Questions article

01:12:40.940 --> 01:12:44.060
just for another second, because then you have the question of the three days and three nights.

01:12:44.700 --> 01:12:49.500
And I don't even understand what they're trying to say here, but it says supporters of the Wednesday

01:12:49.500 --> 01:12:54.940
viewpoint see theirs as the only explanation that does not violate the biblical account of the women

01:12:54.940 --> 01:12:59.820
and the spices and holds to a little understanding of Matthew 1240. The three days and three nights

01:12:59.820 --> 01:13:05.900
of Matthew 1240 are reckoned as follows, early Thursday, day one, late Thursday night one,

01:13:05.900 --> 01:13:11.340
early Friday, day two, late Friday night two, and early Saturday, day three, and late Saturday night

01:13:11.340 --> 01:13:18.060
three, which is kind of weird because I'm thinking like that's how I counted essentially, except for

01:13:18.060 --> 01:13:23.820
I was counting just late day Thursday. But you have to understand that Jesus Christ would have died

01:13:23.820 --> 01:13:29.100
at even and you would have had Wednesday night. They don't even have Wednesday night.

01:13:29.100 --> 01:13:34.860
Yeah, but I think at this point, the Got Questions article is just a little off the rails

01:13:34.860 --> 01:13:41.020
because the Got Questions article also screwed up earlier with 32 AD thing. I think this is just

01:13:41.020 --> 01:13:46.300
the author got a little confused. So I wouldn't say that that's any kind of a mainstream view.

01:13:46.300 --> 01:13:51.820
I would say that that's just an anomaly with this article that this article got a little screwed up there.

01:13:51.820 --> 01:13:55.340
How did you try to count the three days and three nights from Wednesday? Do you remember?

01:13:56.140 --> 01:14:03.340
Yeah, absolutely. What I considered it was Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night,

01:14:03.340 --> 01:14:09.180
Friday, Friday night, Saturday, and then Jesus Christ rises during Saturday night.

01:14:09.900 --> 01:14:12.460
Toward the beginning of Saturday night is when he comes to life.

01:14:13.420 --> 01:14:19.020
So that and I would assume that that's how every Wednesday proponent would see it.

01:14:19.020 --> 01:14:24.140
And every thing that I've looked at from people that were promoting Wednesday articles, sermons,

01:14:24.140 --> 01:14:29.420
and stuff, that's what they taught. So that's why I'm thinking that we should just kind of just

01:14:29.420 --> 01:14:34.140
reject that part of the article, because I think that's just the author didn't do a very good job

01:14:34.140 --> 01:14:38.540
of explaining that part, because I think you're right. I was a proponent of Wednesday for a long

01:14:38.540 --> 01:14:43.740
time. I've heard a lot of Wednesday people and what they're saying just isn't accurate.

01:14:43.740 --> 01:14:49.740
What they're saying makes no sense. If that view is true, that would mean that he could have

01:14:49.740 --> 01:14:54.460
technically risen on the first day of the week from a Jewish calendar perspective, but it doesn't

01:14:54.460 --> 01:15:00.460
really fit with the Roman calendar as well. Exactly. Whereas with Thursday view, he's rising

01:15:00.460 --> 01:15:05.580
the first day of the week from both a Roman and a Jewish perspective. Exactly. Which is why it's a

01:15:05.580 --> 01:15:11.500
superior, one of the many reasons why it's a superior view. Now, I want to actually address

01:15:11.500 --> 01:15:16.940
this thing that we brought up in the article about the year, specifically about the crucifixion.

01:15:16.940 --> 01:15:23.500
And what's interesting, again, I'm not an expert on this subject at all. I'm definitely going to

01:15:23.500 --> 01:15:30.140
lean on Pastor Anderson's view here, but because of how accurate astronomy can be, and they can

01:15:30.140 --> 01:15:35.020
predict and understand how certain things work, I mean, we're going to have a, I believe it's a solar

01:15:35.020 --> 01:15:40.140
eclipse here in the DFW area in a few days or maybe in the next week or so. It's actually a

01:15:40.140 --> 01:15:45.900
pretty soon event that's going to happen. Because of how these heavenly bodies move at such a

01:15:45.900 --> 01:15:52.780
consistent measurable rate, we can actually go forward in future and we can go backwards

01:15:52.780 --> 01:15:58.780
in time and kind of understand where the heavenly bodies would be through calculations and computer

01:15:58.780 --> 01:16:04.540
models and everything like that. And this is where when you look at history and astronomy,

01:16:04.620 --> 01:16:09.900
we can actually try to figure out dates corresponding to Christ's birth and his

01:16:09.900 --> 01:16:14.940
crucifixion. Now, I want to kind of hand it over to you because I know you understand this way

01:16:14.940 --> 01:16:18.780
better than I do. And we have a couple assets for you. So whatever you want to pull up, just let us

01:16:18.780 --> 01:16:25.180
know and we'll try to pull it up. But how did you study this? Yeah, let me just introduce the subject.

01:16:25.180 --> 01:16:33.020
First of all, we have to understand that the universe is like a clock. Everything is moving

01:16:33.820 --> 01:16:41.900
according to very set patterns. It's extremely reliable. You can wind back the clock and figure

01:16:41.900 --> 01:16:48.460
out exactly where the heavenly bodies were on a day thousands of years ago. And the reason that

01:16:48.460 --> 01:16:53.900
we know that these models are accurate is that when astronomers do these calculations, they can

01:16:53.900 --> 01:17:00.700
then go and compare them to ancient documents in astronomy from the Greeks, from the Chinese,

01:17:00.700 --> 01:17:08.300
from the Arabs, and they find that they match their simulations. And so we have confidence within

01:17:08.300 --> 01:17:17.100
five or 10 minutes about when things happened in the sky, even as far back as 2000 years ago.

01:17:17.100 --> 01:17:24.140
Already in the 17th century, scientists and astronomers were already trying to

01:17:24.780 --> 01:17:32.300
use this information to figure out what was the star of Bethlehem or when was the Passover,

01:17:32.300 --> 01:17:37.100
what day of the week was the Passover in these various years, trying to pinpoint the birth of

01:17:37.100 --> 01:17:46.060
Christ, the crucifixion of Christ. And obviously now in 2024, we have even more advanced calculations,

01:17:46.620 --> 01:17:52.540
computer models, simulations, and so forth. So you can really get extremely accurate with this stuff

01:17:53.260 --> 01:17:59.980
now. So the first thing I want to just briefly talk about is when Christ was born.

01:18:01.660 --> 01:18:09.500
And what we go by with that is that death of Herod in 4 BC is an important thing to do with that.

01:18:09.500 --> 01:18:19.020
And so the vast majority of scholars agree that Christ was born in 6 BC. Now, we want to be born

01:18:19.020 --> 01:18:24.300
in 1 AD because that's the whole point of the AD system, but it's just that when that system

01:18:24.860 --> 01:18:31.980
first originated, it just wasn't accurate. It's off by about six years. And so actually,

01:18:32.620 --> 01:18:39.180
6 BC would be the year that Christ was born. If you take all of the data that's given to us

01:18:39.180 --> 01:18:44.140
in scripture about historical events that were happening at that time, and then we look at

01:18:44.140 --> 01:18:49.100
historical records of things like the death of Herod, I mean, that's just one of the things.

01:18:49.100 --> 01:18:52.620
There are lots of other things. I don't want to spend too much time talking about the birth of

01:18:52.620 --> 01:18:57.180
Christ because we want to focus more on when he was crucified, but I'm just going to throw it out

01:18:57.180 --> 01:19:04.220
there that he was born in 6 BC. Now, I personally subscribe to the view of this book right here,

01:19:04.780 --> 01:19:12.940
The Star of Bethlehem by Dr. Michael Molnar. He actually, using the astronomical data

01:19:13.660 --> 01:19:21.260
and astrological data, he actually pinpoints it down to April 17th, you know, 6 BC. And I believe

01:19:21.260 --> 01:19:26.700
that he is correct. But even if you don't necessarily buy into his particular theories,

01:19:26.700 --> 01:19:33.020
he's got this wonderful chart on page 63 where he shows all the different historical events

01:19:33.660 --> 01:19:41.100
that have to be reconciled, you know, when Herod died and, you know, Jesus being about 30 years old

01:19:41.100 --> 01:19:48.220
in the 15th year of Tiberius' reign and Archelaus when he ruled, all these different things.

01:19:48.220 --> 01:19:54.700
They all kind of connect at 6 BC. So that's what we're going to use as a date for the birth of

01:19:54.700 --> 01:20:01.820
Christ. Okay. So then the question becomes what year was Christ crucified? Because if we're going

01:20:01.820 --> 01:20:08.060
to say that it was on a Thursday, then we need to be able to point to a year when the Passover

01:20:08.700 --> 01:20:14.540
was on a Thursday. Okay. So if you could go ahead and pull up that chart that I sent over to you,

01:20:14.540 --> 01:20:23.180
Brother Shelley, about the different dates. Yeah. Let's see if we can pull up the multi-view there

01:20:23.180 --> 01:20:25.820
and get that asset or just bring up the asset. Before you pull that up, though,

01:20:26.220 --> 01:20:33.500
before you pull that up, I'm going to pull up something different here, which is this article.

01:20:35.340 --> 01:20:37.340
Well, I'm not going to pull it up. I'll just tell you. Basically,

01:20:37.340 --> 01:20:45.180
go to the view. You can switch the view. There we go. Okay. Yeah. Perfect. So here's the thing

01:20:45.180 --> 01:20:50.780
I want to say going into this is that when I first started researching this, trying to figure out

01:20:51.660 --> 01:20:57.900
what day of the week the Passover was on in these various years, the numbers are just all over the

01:20:57.900 --> 01:21:03.180
place. So I mean, if you look up 10 different articles on this, you're going to get 10 different

01:21:03.180 --> 01:21:11.100
answers. And so it's really frustrating that there were just so much spurious information out there.

01:21:11.100 --> 01:21:14.700
And I think that this is kind of an important point to make about looking things up in general,

01:21:14.700 --> 01:21:20.460
because in 2024, being able to find reliable, accurate information is a skill that everyone

01:21:20.460 --> 01:21:27.580
needs to have because there's so much junk and disinfo out there. And so the chart that we're

01:21:27.580 --> 01:21:35.260
looking at here is actually from a reliable scholarly source. It's from this guy, Dr. Colin

01:21:35.260 --> 01:21:44.380
Humphreys from the University of Oxford. So it's a nice, reliable scholarly source. But not only

01:21:44.380 --> 01:21:51.180
that, we're also going to verify this ourselves using astronomy software. And hopefully I'm going

01:21:51.180 --> 01:21:59.020
to be able to share my screen and even show you guys my own look at that data in the astronomy

01:21:59.020 --> 01:22:04.460
software, because number one, we want to get reliable sources for our information. But then

01:22:04.460 --> 01:22:09.820
number two, whenever we can want to fact check that stuff ourselves. And I think the reason why

01:22:09.820 --> 01:22:15.660
there's so much bogus and spurious information out there on this subject is because of the fact that

01:22:15.660 --> 01:22:20.300
people are getting the data and they're not understanding how to interpret it. So there were

01:22:20.300 --> 01:22:26.220
a lot of articles online that were even citing reliable sources like the US Navy, astronomical,

01:22:26.220 --> 01:22:32.780
whatever observatory, and they had a good source. But then by the time that source information made

01:22:32.780 --> 01:22:38.380
it to their article, they had screwed up the data because they were confused between the conjunction

01:22:39.100 --> 01:22:44.060
and the new moon. They were confused between the 14th day of Nissan and the 15th day of Nissan.

01:22:44.060 --> 01:22:48.060
This stuff can be a little complicated for somebody who doesn't know a lot about astronomy.

01:22:48.060 --> 01:22:53.900
And so just warning folks, if you Google this, you're going to get answers all over the place.

01:22:53.900 --> 01:22:59.740
I'm going to actually give you reliable information right now by going to a scholarly source. And then

01:22:59.740 --> 01:23:03.580
I'm actually going to prove it to you. Hopefully you'll be able to see it with your own eyes,

01:23:03.580 --> 01:23:09.980
depending on how clear the screen share is. Okay. So looking at this chart, let me just explain this

01:23:09.980 --> 01:23:15.980
a little bit. The chart's a little fuzzy on my end, but hopefully you at home can read this thing.

01:23:17.580 --> 01:23:23.740
But anyway, it says, in fact, I'm going to pull up the chart on my end so I can read it a little

01:23:23.740 --> 01:23:27.260
more clearly. Maybe I just have to- We'll share the link too so then that way people can-

01:23:27.260 --> 01:23:32.460
Yeah, share the link so that people can get a clear view of the chart. I'm going to just pull

01:23:32.460 --> 01:23:36.940
it up. My eyesight's not that great these days, so I'm going to pull it up in a separate window.

01:23:36.940 --> 01:23:39.420
We'll bring it up even bigger or zoom in a little bit too.

01:23:40.380 --> 01:23:47.740
Oh, there we go. That looks better. Perfect. Okay. So looking at this chart, we want to find a

01:23:47.740 --> 01:23:55.340
Thursday because that's when we clearly believe biblically Christ died. Okay. And if you look

01:23:55.420 --> 01:24:04.220
at this chart, the only Thursday option that this chart is putting forth is 27 AD. And I'm going to

01:24:04.220 --> 01:24:11.900
tell you right now that that is not a good option for the crucifixion of Christ. And here's the big

01:24:11.900 --> 01:24:20.380
problem with 27 AD is that the Bible tells us in Luke chapter 3 that when John the Baptist began

01:24:20.380 --> 01:24:29.580
his ministry that it was the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar. Okay. Now obviously,

01:24:30.380 --> 01:24:36.380
the reign of Tiberius Caesar is a historical event that we know a lot about because, you know,

01:24:36.380 --> 01:24:44.220
Roman emperors are a big deal, so there's a lot of historical record regarding them. And so we know

01:24:44.220 --> 01:24:53.340
historically that Caesar Augustus died in AD 14. So most of the time you will see the reign of

01:24:53.340 --> 01:25:00.540
Tiberius as starting in AD 14 because that's when Caesar Augustus died. Okay. And as you can see on

01:25:00.540 --> 01:25:07.020
the screen, it's the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar. This is when John the Baptist

01:25:07.020 --> 01:25:11.740
starts preaching. This is when the Bible is going to tell us a little later in the chapter that

01:25:11.740 --> 01:25:21.740
Jesus Christ is about 30 years old. Okay. And so if you stop and think about it, from 14 AD,

01:25:22.860 --> 01:25:30.860
the 15th year is going to be something like 28 AD or 29 AD. That's definitely not going to work with

01:25:30.860 --> 01:25:37.820
the, you know, Thursday and 27 AD. Now here's an important thing to realize though is that in AD

01:25:37.820 --> 01:25:45.580
12, that's actually the real year that Tiberius Caesar began to reign. Even before the death of

01:25:45.580 --> 01:25:54.300
Augustus, Tiberius Caesar reigned as co-prinkeps with full power, as much power as Caesar Augustus.

01:25:54.300 --> 01:26:02.780
He was fully reigning starting in AD 12. So then if we add the 15 years to that, now we get 26 AD,

01:26:02.780 --> 01:26:09.820
but that is still not really going to work with this 27 AD Thursday because if Jesus isn't getting

01:26:09.820 --> 01:26:17.740
baptized until 26 AD or even 27 AD, well then there's no time for his ministry because Christ's

01:26:17.740 --> 01:26:22.540
ministry was like three and a half years, right? So if Christ's ministry is like three and a half years,

01:26:23.420 --> 01:26:31.180
then you can't have him, you know, starting his ministry in AD 26 and then dying in AD 27.

01:26:31.180 --> 01:26:40.700
So I believe that this AD 27 Thursday is not a good candidate. So then you might say to yourself,

01:26:40.700 --> 01:26:47.020
well, okay, well, that's the only Thursday on the list. So what are we going to do here?

01:26:47.020 --> 01:26:57.180
Right. Okay. Well, look at the Wednesday. There's a Wednesday in 34 AD. Why is that not going to work?

01:26:57.900 --> 01:27:06.940
Well, the problem with Wednesday, AD 34 is that if Christ was born in 6 BC, which is what all of

01:27:06.940 --> 01:27:13.740
the biblical and historical data points to, then that would actually mean that when Christ died here,

01:27:14.540 --> 01:27:21.180
he would be like, you know, something like 38 years old or 39 years old or something.

01:27:22.060 --> 01:27:27.820
And so that's too old because then, you know, you'd have to make the case that when it says he was

01:27:27.820 --> 01:27:34.860
about 30 years old, he was actually like 34 or something. And, you know, 34 isn't really like

01:27:34.860 --> 01:27:41.100
about 30. So that just seems way too late. There's also some stuff with the Apostle Paul's timeline

01:27:41.660 --> 01:27:48.860
that would not work with this AD 34. AD 34 is just too late. Okay. So there's no good,

01:27:48.860 --> 01:27:54.540
there's no good Wednesday option on this list at all because AD 34 is a bad option.

01:27:56.060 --> 01:28:01.180
And that's the only Wednesday on the list. And then the only Thursday on the list is 27 AD. That's

01:28:01.180 --> 01:28:06.540
also a bad option. I'll tell you what the good option is. It's AD 30. Okay. Now you say, wait a

01:28:06.540 --> 01:28:10.940
minute, Pastor Anderson, it says Friday. Well, this is where we have to dig a little bit deeper

01:28:11.020 --> 01:28:18.140
because notice that next to AD 30, Friday, April 7th, notice that has two crosses.

01:28:18.860 --> 01:28:24.380
If we go down to the bottom here and look at those two crosses on the footnote, it says,

01:28:24.380 --> 01:28:31.740
in each of these cases, it is not impossible, but highly improbable that 14 Nissan would have

01:28:31.740 --> 01:28:38.860
occurred on the preceding day. And so according to this chart, which is coming from, of course,

01:28:39.100 --> 01:28:44.460
Dr. Humphries at Oxford University, he's saying it's actually possible that in AD 30, it was

01:28:44.460 --> 01:28:51.740
actually a Thursday, April 6th. Now he claims it's highly improbable. It's not improbable at all.

01:28:51.740 --> 01:28:55.740
And I'm going to prove that to you that it's not improbable, but he's even acknowledging,

01:28:55.740 --> 01:29:01.340
yeah, it's possible that in AD 30, it's actually a Thursday. We have to first of all, put ourselves

01:29:01.340 --> 01:29:08.220
in Dr. Humphries' mind here. In his calculation, he's reliable on the astronomy. All of his

01:29:08.220 --> 01:29:13.900
astronomy stuff is great, but the problem is that theologically, he wants it to be a Friday.

01:29:13.900 --> 01:29:20.780
So he wants there to be as many Fridays as possible. So he wants a Friday in AD 30, a Friday in

01:29:20.780 --> 01:29:27.580
AD 33. They're looking for Fridays, but in his chart, he is saying that it's possible that it

01:29:27.580 --> 01:29:32.700
was Thursday. Now, what's the discrepancy? Well, if we could pull back up the chart, please.

01:29:32.700 --> 01:29:41.420
Look at the new moon time. This is the actual scientific data. The deduced date is based on

01:29:41.420 --> 01:29:46.220
the scientific data. Well, we're going to do that deduction right now. But if we look at the new

01:29:46.220 --> 01:29:57.020
moon time, for AD 30, it says that it happened on March 22nd at 7.55 PM and that this is a plus or

01:29:57.020 --> 01:30:05.420
minus accuracy of about five minutes. So March 22nd, 7.55 PM. Now, according to their logic of

01:30:05.420 --> 01:30:13.020
calculating it for Friday, they are setting the first day of the month as March 24th.

01:30:15.020 --> 01:30:19.900
Or I'm sorry, March 25th. They have the first day of the month as March 25th based on their

01:30:19.980 --> 01:30:24.940
calculation. Now, I don't want you to glaze over here. I don't want to get too complicated here,

01:30:25.580 --> 01:30:30.860
but I want to explain some of the astronomy here. Do you have the graphics for the new moon that

01:30:30.860 --> 01:30:42.620
you can pull up? What does it mean when it says March 22nd at 7.55 PM was the new moon? Well, if

01:30:42.700 --> 01:30:54.380
you look at this chart here, this kind of shows the difference between a new moon and a full moon.

01:30:55.660 --> 01:31:01.260
So at the top of the screen, we have the new moon where the moon comes between the sun and the earth.

01:31:01.980 --> 01:31:09.580
So therefore, the side of the moon that's facing the earth is totally dark, whereas the side that's

01:31:09.580 --> 01:31:14.780
facing away from the earth is lit up by the sun. Then if you look at the bottom with the full moon,

01:31:14.780 --> 01:31:21.260
it's the opposite. The earth is between the sun and moon so that the side of the moon facing us is

01:31:21.260 --> 01:31:28.460
fully illuminated during the full moon. Now, if you look at this chart, you'd think that every

01:31:28.460 --> 01:31:34.860
single month there'd be a lunar eclipse on the full moon and that every single month there'd be

01:31:34.860 --> 01:31:39.260
a solar eclipse on the new moon. The reason that that doesn't happen every single month

01:31:39.260 --> 01:31:43.900
is because they're not rotating in exactly the same planes. But every once in a while,

01:31:43.900 --> 01:31:49.980
the planes do align and that's when you get an eclipse because as you can see during the new moon,

01:31:50.540 --> 01:31:57.980
the moon comes between the earth and the sun. And so that's when a solar eclipse would take place,

01:31:57.980 --> 01:32:02.060
but it doesn't usually take place because they're not exactly lined up. Does that make sense?

01:32:03.020 --> 01:32:09.500
So when we talk about the conjunction time, we're talking about the time that the sun,

01:32:10.060 --> 01:32:14.780
moon, and earth are in this alignment that we see in the upper part of the graphic.

01:32:15.580 --> 01:32:24.300
That is the conjunction time. That is what took place if you're standing in Jerusalem at 7.55 p.m.

01:32:24.300 --> 01:32:30.700
on March 22nd, the moon and the sun are in alignment. Now here's the thing, if the moon

01:32:30.700 --> 01:32:35.180
and the sun are in alignment, it's of course impossible to see the moon because you're looking

01:32:35.180 --> 01:32:41.020
at the sun. How can you see the moon if you're looking at the sun? The sun is so bright it

01:32:41.020 --> 01:32:48.380
overpowers the moon to where you can't see it. So what you would expect to see the moon is on the

01:32:48.380 --> 01:32:55.660
next night once it's begun to drift a little bit away from the sun. So the reason it's called the

01:32:55.660 --> 01:33:01.900
new moon is because you're seeing the moon on a daily basis, right? Then when the conjunction takes

01:33:01.900 --> 01:33:07.420
place on what scientifically is called the new moon, the moon is invisible. It's impossible to

01:33:07.420 --> 01:33:15.260
see because it's lined up with the sun unless there's an eclipse. So the new moon is the day

01:33:15.260 --> 01:33:22.140
when you can start seeing the moon again after this happens. And it'll just be a tiny little sliver

01:33:22.860 --> 01:33:29.500
as you start getting into the waxing crescent phase, okay? So here's the deal. According to

01:33:29.500 --> 01:33:36.860
the scientific data, the conjunction happened at 7.55 p.m. on March 22nd. What they're basically

01:33:36.860 --> 01:33:43.820
saying is, well on the 23rd they probably didn't see it. They probably didn't see it till the 24th

01:33:44.540 --> 01:33:50.700
and then the 25th then would be the first day of Nissan and then the 14th day of Nissan is that

01:33:50.700 --> 01:33:57.820
Friday. But what I'm saying is that if the conjunction took place on the 22nd, that yes,

01:33:57.820 --> 01:34:04.700
they did see the moon the next day on the 20th. That's the new moon. The day after the conjunction,

01:34:04.700 --> 01:34:12.540
boom, they see it on the night of the 23rd and then on the 24th you have Nissan 1. And if Nissan

01:34:12.540 --> 01:34:19.260
1 is on the 24th, well then that means that the 14th day of the month is a Thursday, April 6th,

01:34:19.260 --> 01:34:25.980
and that Christ was crucified on April 6th, AD 30. Now I'm going to go ahead and pull up my

01:34:25.980 --> 01:34:32.460
astronomy software and show that I'm correct about this. And I'm going to show that the

01:34:32.460 --> 01:34:40.300
scientific data is correct about the conjunction happening at 7.55 on March 22nd, but I'm going to

01:34:40.300 --> 01:34:47.820
show that the interpretation of that data, the deduced date for Nissan 14 is wrong because the

01:34:47.820 --> 01:34:55.180
moon is in fact visible on the 23rd. So here's the software that I'm using and it's called

01:34:55.180 --> 01:35:03.660
Starry Night Pro and I've used a lot of different astronomical software and this is by far the best

01:35:03.660 --> 01:35:10.940
one. So if you have a few hundred bucks burning a hole in your pocket and you're really into astronomy,

01:35:11.500 --> 01:35:17.500
this is the one that I would recommend. And so right now it's just showing like the daytime in

01:35:17.500 --> 01:35:23.900
Phoenix because that's what time it is right now, 11.35 a.m. and you can see up here in the corner

01:35:24.460 --> 01:35:32.060
March 29th, 2024, etc. Phoenix, Arizona. So I'm going to go ahead and set the location

01:35:32.700 --> 01:35:40.860
to Jerusalem and then we're going to wind back this clock all the way to 30 AD. And I've already

01:35:40.860 --> 01:35:45.740
got that saved in the favorites so I'm just going to pull it up as a favorite and just go there.

01:35:47.420 --> 01:35:57.580
Okay, so here we are. We've just time traveled to Jerusalem, AD 30, March 22nd. This is the day

01:35:58.220 --> 01:36:04.380
of the conjunction according to Dr. Humphrey's data and as you can see here in the simulation,

01:36:04.380 --> 01:36:10.460
I've sped it up to 500 times speed so that we can see things happen. You can see here that the

01:36:10.460 --> 01:36:17.100
moon and the sun are moving together, okay, because that's what the very definition of the

01:36:17.100 --> 01:36:24.220
conjunction is that these things are happening at the same time. And so as we see the sun set,

01:36:24.220 --> 01:36:29.420
we're also seeing the moon set and here's the important point to note. By the time the sun is

01:36:29.420 --> 01:36:35.180
below the horizon and it's dark enough to where you could see the moon, well guess what? The moon

01:36:35.180 --> 01:36:41.100
is also below the horizon. This is why it is impossible to see the new moon on the day of the

01:36:41.100 --> 01:36:46.860
conjunction itself. Now in order to declare the new month, remember in the Bible they blow the

01:36:46.860 --> 01:36:51.500
trumpet on the new moon and they declare the new moon. They are not on a solar calendar, they're

01:36:51.500 --> 01:36:58.540
on a lunar calendar. In order to declare the new month, you have to see the new moon. They can't

01:36:58.540 --> 01:37:04.860
see it on March 22nd and this is where a lot of the charts and articles online screw this up.

01:37:04.860 --> 01:37:10.060
They start counting sometimes from the date of the conjunction. That's not the new moon.

01:37:10.780 --> 01:37:17.340
From, you know, scientifically you can call that a new moon, but from a perspective of, you know,

01:37:17.340 --> 01:37:22.220
people declaring a new month based on seeing a new moon in the sky, it can't be the day of the

01:37:22.220 --> 01:37:28.540
conjunction. It has to be the next day, okay? So if we go to the next day, we go to the 23rd of March,

01:37:28.540 --> 01:37:33.580
now you can see that there's a little bit of space between the moon and the sun. Now you still can't

01:37:33.580 --> 01:37:39.100
see the moon when the sun's out because the sun is overpowering the moon, but what you're going to

01:37:39.100 --> 01:37:47.020
see is that when the sun goes down before the moon is all the way below the horizon,

01:37:48.460 --> 01:37:55.820
you can see that it's dark enough to see the moon. And so like I'm looking at in the simulation

01:37:56.460 --> 01:38:01.340
and maybe you at home may not be able to see it as well because of the lower resolution of being

01:38:01.340 --> 01:38:07.020
live streamed and getting blurry and stuff, but from where I'm sitting, I'm looking at the simulator

01:38:07.020 --> 01:38:12.620
and I can clearly see the outline of the moon, which makes sense because at this time right here,

01:38:14.700 --> 01:38:21.340
can I zoom in? Yeah, I can try. Yeah, let me try. I mean, yeah, I mean, I can see it clear as day.

01:38:21.340 --> 01:38:25.660
You can kind of see it. There you go. See there, you can kind of see it now. I mean, there it is.

01:38:25.660 --> 01:38:31.100
You can see a circle on the screen. It's probably clearer on my screen, but the point is that

01:38:31.100 --> 01:38:40.940
at seven, excuse me, at five fifty five p.m., you know, the sun is low enough below the horizon

01:38:40.940 --> 01:38:46.140
and the moon's high enough at the horizon where you can see it. Even at this point, if we fast

01:38:46.140 --> 01:38:52.060
forward to five fifty eight p.m. and we have the sun below the horizon, half the moon's above the

01:38:52.060 --> 01:38:57.340
horizon, they don't have to see the whole thing, folks. All they have to do is see the moon at all.

01:38:57.340 --> 01:39:03.260
So how many minutes is that? Excuse me? How many minutes is that approximately that we kind of get

01:39:03.260 --> 01:39:09.180
this view where it can be seen? Is it like 10 minutes, five minutes? Well, based on this,

01:39:09.180 --> 01:39:17.420
based on the simulator, you know, it starts actually being visible, like around, you know,

01:39:17.420 --> 01:39:24.860
vaguely visible around like, you know, five, five thirty approximately. Okay. And then like it's

01:39:24.860 --> 01:39:29.980
totally gone in the simulation, like a half hour later. So it's like a nice half hour window

01:39:30.860 --> 01:39:35.740
where you'd be able to see it. And what you have to keep in mind, people, is that the people who

01:39:35.740 --> 01:39:40.860
are looking for this thing are experts in astronomy. They already know that the conjunction

01:39:40.860 --> 01:39:48.300
happened on the previous day. Right. They're already aware of that. Well, but not only did they

01:39:48.300 --> 01:39:54.540
not see it, they also mathematically know exactly where the sun and the moon are going to be.

01:39:54.540 --> 01:40:00.140
They're doing the geometry. These guys are experts. Astronomy was already pretty advanced,

01:40:00.140 --> 01:40:04.460
even at the time of Christ. And so they, you know, they knew when eclipses were going to happen.

01:40:04.460 --> 01:40:09.340
They knew. Yeah. The wise men studied the stars to find Jesus Christ and they had found the

01:40:10.060 --> 01:40:15.980
North Star or the star that basically led them to Christ. So obviously, obviously the Bible

01:40:15.980 --> 01:40:23.820
testifies to astronomy being a field of study that's really important even at that specific

01:40:23.820 --> 01:40:29.260
time. And of course, if your calendar is based on a lunar calendar, they probably already know

01:40:29.260 --> 01:40:36.060
all the days already. They're just, this is the last double check to all the other systems in place.

01:40:37.340 --> 01:40:42.140
They're super into it. And it's kind of a technicality of just like, well, we need to see

01:40:42.140 --> 01:40:48.300
it in the sky. So they have people that are just literally staring at the sky, wanting to see it.

01:40:49.260 --> 01:40:54.620
And they know mathematically that it's there. And so that's what they do. Now, just for comparison,

01:40:54.620 --> 01:41:02.940
let's go to the 24th. Okay. If we go to the 24th, then yeah, obviously you can see it by a mile.

01:41:02.940 --> 01:41:12.300
I mean, it's really clear, super clear in the sky that it's pitch black outside and the moon is still

01:41:13.180 --> 01:41:18.620
way above the horizon. So there's no question that it's seen by a mile on the 24th.

01:41:19.740 --> 01:41:25.980
But the question is, did they see it on the 23rd? If they see it on the 23rd at all,

01:41:26.780 --> 01:41:36.060
then that means that it's a Thursday Passover for AD 30. And it's a perfect year for Christ to be

01:41:36.060 --> 01:41:42.300
crucified in AD 30. Because then that would mean that Jesus Christ, if he was born, as Michael

01:41:42.300 --> 01:41:52.700
Molnar says on April 17th, 6 BC, then that would make Jesus 34 years old when he dies on the cross

01:41:52.700 --> 01:42:00.220
in AD 30. This would mean that his ministry is three and a half years going from the 15th year

01:42:00.220 --> 01:42:05.660
of Tiberius reign, if we accept that Tiberius Caesar began reigning in 12 AD when he became

01:42:05.660 --> 01:42:11.500
co-prinkeps. Then we have a perfect three and a half year ministry for Jesus. We have Jesus being

01:42:11.500 --> 01:42:19.100
about 31 years old, 30 to 31 when he's baptized. And remember, the Bible doesn't say he was exactly

01:42:19.100 --> 01:42:28.220
30, it says about 30. So 30, 31, 31 is about 30. Is 34 about 30? Not really. Okay.

01:42:28.220 --> 01:42:33.100
So when we look at this chart of dates, just to kind of bring it back to what we were saying

01:42:33.100 --> 01:42:36.300
earlier, because you've shared a lot of information that's probably new to a lot of people.

01:42:36.940 --> 01:42:44.620
This chart specifically has the year 3080 as Friday. But then if you look at the far right,

01:42:44.620 --> 01:42:51.100
where it says April 7th, it has two big plus signs or two cross hairs there. And those cross hairs

01:42:51.100 --> 01:42:57.180
are denoted in a comment down below, which even says in the specific chart, like, well,

01:42:57.820 --> 01:43:02.220
it could have actually been Thursday, it could have been the day before. And what you're trying

01:43:02.220 --> 01:43:09.820
to show is that from an astronomical software, where we kind of go back in time and try to look

01:43:09.820 --> 01:43:14.940
at how the sun and moon would have coincided, that it's very plausible and very realistic

01:43:15.500 --> 01:43:20.940
that they had a window to have seen the new moon on the day that would have started the calendar

01:43:20.940 --> 01:43:27.660
for Nissan that year. And it would have put the 14th day at Thursday. So what you're saying is

01:43:27.660 --> 01:43:32.940
confirming this chart. It's just that the conclusion of this chart is wrong. They're thinking it was

01:43:32.940 --> 01:43:38.300
Friday, and they're trying to use that justify good Friday. Whereas we're saying, yeah, the science

01:43:38.300 --> 01:43:43.980
and the data is right. But we think it's actually Thursday, this chart should say Thursday there,

01:43:43.980 --> 01:43:49.820
or should maybe just say Thursday slash Friday to be a little clearer, as far as possibilities.

01:43:50.460 --> 01:43:56.140
And then again, when you study that with all the other dates about Christ's birth, the 15th year of

01:43:56.140 --> 01:44:01.500
the reign of Tiberius, you study when John the Baptist goes out preaching, we compare that with

01:44:01.500 --> 01:44:07.340
the age of Jesus Christ being about 30 years old, and just all the other events, Herod's death,

01:44:08.300 --> 01:44:14.540
and just basically all of the history that we have, pretty much it kind of leads to a 30 AD

01:44:14.540 --> 01:44:20.060
period of time. And it still fits exactly with a Thursday view. Is that a good summary?

01:44:20.060 --> 01:44:24.380
Is there? Yeah, I'm trying to make sure that people at home are probably thinking like,

01:44:24.380 --> 01:44:28.140
I don't know what you just said, but I'm trying to explain it.

01:44:28.140 --> 01:44:34.220
I hope it was clear. But 30 is the sweet spot. And if you pull up that chart again,

01:44:34.220 --> 01:44:39.900
okay, because 30 is the sweet spot, make it nice and big, perfect. If you look at it,

01:44:40.700 --> 01:44:47.020
29 is a Monday. That's not going to work in anybody's view. 28 is a Tuesday. Not going to work.

01:44:48.300 --> 01:44:53.740
27, you're getting too early. You're really pushing it at that point. It's possible,

01:44:53.740 --> 01:45:01.180
but it's extremely unlikely that 27 is going to work because of Tiberius Caesar's 15th year in that.

01:45:02.300 --> 01:45:05.820
So you're already pushing it. And then if you start going later, 31,

01:45:06.460 --> 01:45:12.620
Tuesday is not going to work. 32, Sunday is not going to work. Now the Friday people,

01:45:13.180 --> 01:45:19.340
many of them really like this AD 33 view for the Friday crowd. But in my opinion,

01:45:19.340 --> 01:45:25.980
it's just too late. If you have Christ being born in 6 BC, which virtually everyone agrees upon that,

01:45:27.180 --> 01:45:31.500
there's a lot of data to back that up. And then Michael Monar with the Star of Bethlehem,

01:45:31.500 --> 01:45:35.180
that's just icing on the cake. But historically, if you think about it,

01:45:35.180 --> 01:45:40.300
if Herod died in 4 BC, he's killing the children from two years old and upward.

01:45:40.300 --> 01:45:49.100
So that would mean that Christ has to be born in 6 BC or earlier. And 6 BC works out well with other

01:45:49.100 --> 01:45:57.820
things. And so therefore, getting into 33 AD is really pushing the timeline. I feel like 34 is

01:45:57.820 --> 01:46:04.140
even pushing it even more, which is why, again, I feel like this astronomical data

01:46:05.420 --> 01:46:13.660
favors Thursday more than Wednesday, because the only possible Thursday or Wednesday is AD 30.

01:46:14.220 --> 01:46:20.380
Because in AD 30, even though it says Friday on the chart, remember, the data is right. Nobody's

01:46:20.380 --> 01:46:27.020
arguing about the scientific data. The new moon happened. If we go to the US Navy Observatory data,

01:46:27.580 --> 01:46:32.540
it's going to have the exact same data within a few minutes. I think they're like 10 minutes

01:46:32.540 --> 01:46:38.300
different than this. But it's still that evening of the 22nd that the conjunction takes place.

01:46:39.660 --> 01:46:46.460
And so again, if the conjunction takes place on the 22nd, you're not seeing it on the 22nd.

01:46:46.460 --> 01:46:53.900
You're going to see it on the next day. The next day is the new moon. What this chart is saying is

01:46:54.540 --> 01:46:59.500
well, I don't think they would have seen it because the sun is just going down and the moon's only

01:46:59.500 --> 01:47:03.420
there on the horizon for a few minutes. I don't think they'd see it. My point of view is that

01:47:03.420 --> 01:47:09.180
they're staring at the horizon. And yes, they did see it. And I'm looking at the software and I can

01:47:09.180 --> 01:47:16.540
see it plainly for a half hour. And again, obviously, physically being there is not exactly

01:47:16.540 --> 01:47:21.500
the same as the simulator. But this simulator is pretty stinkin' accurate. Well, and here's the

01:47:21.500 --> 01:47:26.460
thing, somebody that might be a little skeptical when we're talking about astronomy, but here's the

01:47:26.460 --> 01:47:33.580
thing. God gave us specifically the sun, moon and stars for the seasons and the times. And because

01:47:33.580 --> 01:47:41.420
of their accuracy and consistency, to me, it's a testimony of God, how he could create these heavenly

01:47:41.420 --> 01:47:47.420
bodies that have such accuracy and such consistency and that we can follow them and it helps us

01:47:47.420 --> 01:47:53.580
actually calculate things. April 8th, there's going to be a solar eclipse in the Dallas-Fort Worth

01:47:53.580 --> 01:47:58.140
area. And people are already scheduling for this. Look, this hasn't even happened yet,

01:47:58.140 --> 01:48:03.020
but they know exactly and they can even draw, there's like maps where they draw the exact lines

01:48:03.020 --> 01:48:08.460
of where people are going to be seeing these things, the exact time. So again, we can, with

01:48:08.460 --> 01:48:13.100
very close certainty, measure these things. Additionally, from a historical perspective,

01:48:13.100 --> 01:48:19.740
people have written about and marked down and tracked all kinds of different solar and lunar

01:48:19.740 --> 01:48:26.700
events throughout history. And then what happens is people use these softwares to basically go back

01:48:26.700 --> 01:48:30.620
in time and they're like, hey, this matches exactly what the historical record says. This

01:48:30.620 --> 01:48:39.100
matches exactly what other individuals have written about. And so again, it's not a huge leap of faith

01:48:39.100 --> 01:48:42.940
to understand that since God literally created these heavenly bodies for time,

01:48:42.940 --> 01:48:47.820
that they are consistent and that we can actually wind back the clock and we can see

01:48:47.820 --> 01:48:51.660
these events. Let me explain this one more time. Let's go to his screen.

01:48:53.180 --> 01:49:00.220
So I'm showing this spreadsheet because I want to just make sure that everybody at home understands

01:49:00.220 --> 01:49:06.300
what's going on. Okay. So basically this is what everybody agrees on right here,

01:49:06.300 --> 01:49:11.900
conjunction happening on March 22nd, right? That's what all the data points do,

01:49:11.900 --> 01:49:17.660
no matter what astronomer we talk to, the software confirms it. The conjunction took place on March

01:49:17.660 --> 01:49:28.540
22nd, right? Then it's on the evening of the 23rd. On the evening of the 23rd, okay, I'm saying

01:49:29.420 --> 01:49:35.660
that you saw the new moon. They're saying, no, no, we don't think they could see it on that day.

01:49:35.660 --> 01:49:43.020
We think they saw it on the 24th. So if you saw it on the 24th, well then that means if it's the

01:49:43.020 --> 01:49:48.860
night of the 24th you saw it, then that means the 25th is the first of Nissan, right? And if the

01:49:48.860 --> 01:49:53.900
25th is the first, 26th is the second, boom, boom, boom, boom, we count down. And then that's where

01:49:53.900 --> 01:50:03.580
they're getting this Nissan 14 being on April 7th, Friday in AD 30. Okay. Whereas what I'm saying is,

01:50:03.580 --> 01:50:12.700
no, actually we saw it on the 23rd, which means that the first is actually the 24th.

01:50:13.660 --> 01:50:24.460
And then what that puts it to is actually Thursday, the 6th is actually that. So if you're seeing

01:50:25.340 --> 01:50:29.740
the new moon on this day, which is the actual new moon date, because if the conjunction happened on

01:50:29.740 --> 01:50:38.380
the 22nd, 23rd is when we should see it. They're just saying, nah, I couldn't see it. I disagree

01:50:38.380 --> 01:50:44.700
and the simulation disagrees. So I don't know if that helps a little bit. And then maybe I can just

01:50:44.700 --> 01:50:51.020
quickly go back to my astronomy window and just show it one more time. Because I feel like-

01:50:51.020 --> 01:50:55.020
Yeah, I think so. I think this is something that people are so new, they can go back and forth a

01:50:55.020 --> 01:50:58.700
couple of times so people can kind of see and then they get a better picture of what we're talking

01:50:58.700 --> 01:51:03.260
about here. Because again- Yeah, it's a new concept. It probably wouldn't hurt to hear it a couple

01:51:03.260 --> 01:51:10.220
times. Right. Okay. So, boom. And again, we talk about seeing it, but we have to think about the

01:51:10.220 --> 01:51:15.100
fact that these people were anticipating this. They would have been looking for this and wanting

01:51:15.100 --> 01:51:19.740
to see this. They would have known that this would have been the correct date to have subscribed to

01:51:19.740 --> 01:51:26.620
that. And so it makes sense that they're staring at the horizon while the sun's setting, recognizing

01:51:26.620 --> 01:51:30.060
it's going to be difficult to see the new moon. They have a 30-minute window to see it. As soon

01:51:30.060 --> 01:51:35.420
as they see it, they mark it. Yep, we saw it. Check mark, blow the trumpet, and we're going to

01:51:35.420 --> 01:51:43.900
start our next calendar for Nissan. Yeah. Mathematically, they want it to be on the 23rd

01:51:43.900 --> 01:51:50.220
because they know that the conjunction is happening on the 22nd. And so, boom, here we are,

01:51:50.220 --> 01:51:58.860
8030, Jerusalem, Israel, March 22nd, and boom. Look, you can see the moon is right there with

01:51:58.860 --> 01:52:03.420
the sun. Now, they're not exactly lined up because if they were lined up, then you'd have a solar

01:52:03.420 --> 01:52:12.380
eclipse. You can see how it's off to the side, but it's in line in the sense that there's no way that

01:52:12.380 --> 01:52:18.060
you could see it on that day because by the time the sun is down, the moon's way below the horizon.

01:52:18.300 --> 01:52:29.900
We go to the next day, 23rd, and boom. We have the sun down before the moon, and you can clearly see

01:52:29.900 --> 01:52:36.380
the circle outline there. And again, it's not going to be as clear for the people at home just

01:52:36.380 --> 01:52:43.740
because of the constraints of the internet and so forth. But on the software itself, the way I'm

01:52:43.740 --> 01:52:50.300
looking at it, it's visible for like a half hour. But the key thing to notice is just the location.

01:52:52.060 --> 01:52:58.940
Look at the sun, folks. Look how far the sun is below the horizon, and boom, the moon is still

01:52:58.940 --> 01:53:07.020
above the horizon. So it's not highly improbable at all to think that they saw it. Then if we fast

01:53:07.020 --> 01:53:14.380
forward to the 24th, which is the day that they're proposing it would be seen, if we go to the 24th,

01:53:14.380 --> 01:53:20.780
then yeah, the sun's way down, and you're just seeing it by a mile. I mean, it's just way up

01:53:20.780 --> 01:53:26.220
there in the sky, pitch black. You can easily see the circle and so forth.

01:53:27.660 --> 01:53:29.660
So I hope that this is understandable.

01:53:29.660 --> 01:53:34.540
You were bringing up the conjunction, and a conjunction is by definition something being

01:53:34.540 --> 01:53:40.300
joined. So what he's talking about is the path of the moon and the sun are joined together to where

01:53:40.300 --> 01:53:44.300
you're not able to really see the moon at all because of the brilliancy of the sun.

01:53:45.820 --> 01:53:50.540
The next day, they're not as close together. They're not as conjoined. They're not as

01:53:50.540 --> 01:53:54.860
similar paths. There's a little bit of separation, and that separation affords,

01:53:55.500 --> 01:54:00.060
based on the simulation, about a 30-minute window. I would be content with a five-minute window

01:54:00.060 --> 01:54:05.180
because I would assume, again, they're staring at it, waiting for it. They're ready to go.

01:54:05.180 --> 01:54:10.220
Again, it's just kind of a check mark. We already know this day is the right day.

01:54:10.220 --> 01:54:14.460
We're just kind of waiting, and we got to make sure to do our due diligence to see the particular

01:54:14.460 --> 01:54:19.420
new moon, and then we'll blow the trumpet. But it's not something that they're just willy-nilly like,

01:54:19.420 --> 01:54:23.260
oh, we were drinking and we forgot, or we were busy, or using the bathroom.

01:54:23.260 --> 01:54:28.060
Yeah. Hey, somebody noticed. Somebody looked outside and they noticed it's a new moon. Somebody

01:54:28.060 --> 01:54:34.300
blew the trumpet. Someone do something. They're literally professional astronomers staring at the

01:54:34.300 --> 01:54:39.420
sky looking for the new moon, and they know that it's supposed to be there on that day,

01:54:39.420 --> 01:54:45.260
and that theoretically it could be seen. All they have to do is catch a glimpse of even part of it.

01:54:45.820 --> 01:54:52.940
If they see it, it's the new moon. The word conjunction is a term that's just used whenever

01:54:52.940 --> 01:54:58.460
heavenly bodies are lined up in an interesting way. You'll hear people talk about, hey,

01:54:58.460 --> 01:55:02.860
tonight there's going to be a really interesting conjunction because you go outside and you'll see

01:55:02.860 --> 01:55:08.460
the planets lined up or lined up with the moon or something. Just some kind of a cool alignment.

01:55:09.020 --> 01:55:15.260
When we talk about the conjunction taking place on March 22nd at 7.55 p.m., we're just saying that's

01:55:15.260 --> 01:55:22.460
when the Earth, Moon, and Sun are aligned. Here's the thing. In the course of a month,

01:55:23.260 --> 01:55:29.980
we go through the whole cycle. When half the month goes by, instead of it being aligned as like,

01:55:30.620 --> 01:55:36.860
here's the Earth, here's the moon, here's the sun, by the time half the month goes by,

01:55:36.860 --> 01:55:42.460
now the moon's on the opposite side because it takes a month for the moon to go through its cycle.

01:55:42.460 --> 01:55:46.700
So when the moon's on the opposite side of the Earth, then you have the full moon.

01:55:47.500 --> 01:55:52.460
That's a conjunction as well. The difference is that on the exact day of the full moon,

01:55:52.460 --> 01:55:59.020
we can see the full moon because it's fully illuminated in the sky. It's beautiful. We see it.

01:55:59.740 --> 01:56:06.060
We can't actually see the new moon during the conjunction because it's lined up with the sun

01:56:06.060 --> 01:56:12.300
and the sun is overpowering it. Because on the full moon, the moon and sun are on opposite sides

01:56:12.300 --> 01:56:21.580
of the Earth. So that's why the full moon rises at sunset, whereas the new moon rises at dawn

01:56:21.580 --> 01:56:26.300
and it's actually setting at sunset because it's moving with the sun.

01:56:27.580 --> 01:56:32.540
You can't see it because it's overpowered by the sun. So the full moon, you're seeing it on the

01:56:32.540 --> 01:56:37.020
exact day of the full moon, exact day of the conjunction, whereas the new moon, the soonest

01:56:37.020 --> 01:56:43.740
you can see it is the day after the conjunction. Which is exactly what happened in AD 30,

01:56:43.740 --> 01:56:48.940
it's on March 23rd. Yeah. Every time you use that word conjunction, I'm thinking of conjunction,

01:56:49.420 --> 01:56:53.900
what's your function from Schoolhouse Rock. So I thought it was good that we would bring up the

01:56:53.900 --> 01:56:58.380
right definition of what we're talking about here. But I think that that's pretty clear,

01:56:58.380 --> 01:57:05.100
especially going through it many times, kind of showing that. And again, this is just another

01:57:05.100 --> 01:57:12.700
nail in the coffin of a Wednesday view in a sense, just because of the fact that there really isn't

01:57:12.700 --> 01:57:18.620
a strong option for Wednesday. You could argue for Friday and again, that's what they did,

01:57:18.620 --> 01:57:23.420
but you can tell that they're kind of stretching the data to get to Friday. They're not necessarily

01:57:23.420 --> 01:57:28.380
even going with what should be the correct day. They're saying like, well, it was kind of a hard

01:57:28.380 --> 01:57:34.860
event to see that day. So we theorize that it's most likely a Friday when it really just kind of

01:57:34.860 --> 01:57:40.620
fits Thursday. And to me, it's that Catholic doctrine poisoning the mind of people that did

01:57:40.620 --> 01:57:44.780
really good calculations. And they did all the right calculations, but then they just had to

01:57:44.780 --> 01:57:53.420
squeeze out Friday and try to figure it out. Just to be clear though, that the guy who did this chart

01:57:53.420 --> 01:58:00.620
and who did these calculations, Dr. Humphreys, he's pushing for specifically AD 33. He actually

01:58:00.620 --> 01:58:10.940
prefers AD 33, but a lot of other people really like that AD 30 date because AD 30 works way better

01:58:10.940 --> 01:58:19.180
than AD 33. Just with all things being considered, AD 30 is the best date, especially if you realize

01:58:19.180 --> 01:58:27.020
that Tiberius Caesar is co-print caps starting in AD 12. Then everything falls into place.

01:58:27.100 --> 01:58:32.380
I don't like the AD 33 year at all because of the fact that it just makes Jesus way too old.

01:58:33.100 --> 01:58:39.020
Right. And he's not about 30. If he's 33, 34 years old, that's kind of a stretch. Whereas,

01:58:39.980 --> 01:58:46.860
according to our view, he's like 30 or 31 years old. 31 years old is perfect for being about 30.

01:58:47.420 --> 01:58:56.940
And so the AD 33 though is popular with the Friday crowd. And if it was AD 33, it has to be a Friday

01:58:56.940 --> 01:59:01.740
so it's off the table for those of us who believe in Matthew 1240, three days and three nights.

01:59:02.540 --> 01:59:10.380
Whereas, AD 30 is favored by a lot of Friday people as well. But again, they're wrong because

01:59:10.380 --> 01:59:14.060
as we looked at the astronomy, it's actually AD 30. It was on a Thursday that year.

01:59:14.860 --> 01:59:17.420
Which again, when you talk about Tiberius-

01:59:17.420 --> 01:59:19.820
If people try to Google this- Excuse me?

01:59:19.820 --> 01:59:20.860
I'm sorry. Go ahead.

01:59:21.820 --> 01:59:26.860
I was just going to say if people try to Google this to fact check me, let me just warn you,

01:59:26.860 --> 01:59:31.820
you're going to find dates all over the place. You're going to find every possible date for

01:59:31.820 --> 01:59:35.980
every possible past or for every possible year because people don't understand the astronomy

01:59:35.980 --> 01:59:40.140
and they don't know what they're talking about. And that's why the data is just all over the place.

01:59:40.140 --> 01:59:48.380
If you actually go to reliable scholarly sources, you will find that the day of the conjunction

01:59:49.340 --> 01:59:55.260
is consistent in the scholarly data. It's also consistent with the simulator.

01:59:56.380 --> 02:00:00.780
And it's just a matter of interpreting that data. So don't just try to Google some random article

02:00:00.780 --> 02:00:06.300
to fact check me on this. You go to the actual scholarly sources, the actual data, and know how

02:00:06.300 --> 02:00:11.100
to interpret it, you're going to come to the same conclusion I've come to. Now, if you want to make

02:00:11.100 --> 02:00:16.380
the argument that they didn't see it during that 30-minute window because it was still too bright

02:00:16.460 --> 02:00:23.100
from the sun glowing a little bit there, well, okay, that's your prerogative. But based on the

02:00:23.100 --> 02:00:29.180
simulator and based on my opinion and my own personal observations of just looking at new

02:00:29.180 --> 02:00:33.820
moons over the years, because we've all seen it. I mean, we've all gone outside and seen new moons

02:00:33.820 --> 02:00:39.820
at sundown. While the sun is still glowing a little bit, there's still a bit of glow in the sky

02:00:39.820 --> 02:00:42.940
and we see that new moon. Right? I know I've seen it.

02:00:43.900 --> 02:00:48.220
And when we talk about the Tiberius issue, I wanted to bring this up because someone might

02:00:48.220 --> 02:00:54.460
try to fact check that and say, oh, well, he started raining in 14 AD, but you brought up

02:00:54.460 --> 02:01:00.940
that he's co-princeps, I don't know how to pronounce the word properly, but co-princeps or

02:01:00.940 --> 02:01:06.060
however you want to say that, but he's basically co-raining with Caesar Augustus. And here's the

02:01:06.060 --> 02:01:12.220
reality. The reason why he's co-raining is because Augustus is sick and ill and can't rain. And so,

02:01:12.300 --> 02:01:17.100
if you look at just even the Wikipedia article about it, they make it clear that, yeah, prior to

02:01:17.100 --> 02:01:24.780
this in around 12 AD, back after a military campaign, Tiberius basically receives co-joining

02:01:25.740 --> 02:01:31.500
ruling status. And he's basically the default ruler for the time period that Augustus is sick

02:01:31.500 --> 02:01:36.300
and ill. So, it wouldn't make any sense that if he rules for two years while this other guy's sick,

02:01:36.300 --> 02:01:41.980
ill and not able to do much, and then he finally dies, it's like, oh, now your rain starts,

02:01:41.980 --> 02:01:46.700
this is the first year. He'd be like, no, no, this is my third year raining, which is why we

02:01:46.700 --> 02:01:55.580
get the 15 years plus 12 is 27 AD. And again, that gives approximately three and a half, almost four

02:01:55.580 --> 02:02:01.580
years forward. It doesn't even have to be 27 AD. It could even be 26 AD if you count inclusively.

02:02:01.580 --> 02:02:06.220
Right. If you count 12 as the first year, right? Sure. If you count inclusively, it could be

02:02:06.220 --> 02:02:14.700
26 AD, which gives a good, nice, solid, and I would say that it's 26 AD when John the Baptist

02:02:14.700 --> 02:02:20.300
starts his ministry, because then maybe let's say Jesus doesn't get baptized immediately when John

02:02:20.300 --> 02:02:27.500
starts his ministry. Maybe he gets baptized months later. So, I agree with you. So, it's a perfect

02:02:28.220 --> 02:02:36.620
like three and a half year ministry for Jesus, and Jesus dies at age 34. So, Jesus dies at 34

02:02:36.620 --> 02:02:44.060
years of age, because if his birthday is April 17th, and if he's crucified on April 6th, then he's

02:02:44.060 --> 02:02:51.740
about to turn 35, but he's only 34. Yeah. Yeah. And again, I agree with your counting there,

02:02:51.740 --> 02:02:58.380
because it's similar to how you count the feast called the Passover, because while it's 14th day

02:02:58.380 --> 02:03:03.100
to this 21st day, that sounds like simple math at seven, but it's actually eight days. So, like you

02:03:03.100 --> 02:03:09.980
said, if we're starting in 12 AD, if you count up 15, it would actually be AD 26, giving us

02:03:09.980 --> 02:03:15.820
approximately maybe a year for John the Baptist, and then three and a half years for Jesus Christ.

02:03:15.820 --> 02:03:20.060
So, that definitely... Yeah. I think most people would say,

02:03:22.220 --> 02:03:25.820
it's either like three or six months that people usually say for like,

02:03:25.820 --> 02:03:32.220
how long John the Baptist ministry is going before Christ jumps in. Takes over. Right. Exactly. So,

02:03:32.220 --> 02:03:36.700
again... Gets baptized. I think that that's really interesting. That's something that I didn't...

02:03:36.700 --> 02:03:43.340
That was not a part of my decision making. I totally had converted and changed my mind

02:03:43.340 --> 02:03:48.940
on this specific chart and the timing before all this. But I know that during my process of trying

02:03:48.940 --> 02:03:53.420
to talk with you and convince you, this was something that you're bringing up. It was something

02:03:53.420 --> 02:03:58.860
that you were studying at the time. And so, I researched it as well. And I will totally confirm

02:03:58.860 --> 02:04:04.940
that I could find dozens of articles that say all kinds of crazy dates about all these different

02:04:04.940 --> 02:04:08.860
things. But there are plenty that do agree with what you're saying. There's plenty of articles that

02:04:08.860 --> 02:04:16.060
do say specifically 30 AD or bring up that being a timeline for Thursday. So, it's not like this is

02:04:16.060 --> 02:04:21.340
a minority view or anything like that. It's actually probably, at least within reputable sources,

02:04:21.340 --> 02:04:26.300
the prevailing view. It's just that there's a lot of trash on the internet because people want to

02:04:26.300 --> 02:04:31.340
fit all kinds of weird Jewish conspiracies or their crazy doctrines. Yeah. And again, I just...

02:04:31.340 --> 02:04:37.580
I want to emphasize to the viewer at home the importance of knowing how to do research

02:04:38.380 --> 02:04:45.100
and knowing what is a reliable source, what is not. And also, if someone's citing a reliable source,

02:04:46.060 --> 02:04:50.300
you need to actually look that up because a lot of times people will cite a reliable source.

02:04:50.300 --> 02:04:53.900
And what they're saying is not what that source says. They've twisted the data,

02:04:53.900 --> 02:05:00.380
they've corrupted it, they're quoting it wrong, whatever. You've got to learn to discern what is

02:05:00.380 --> 02:05:06.300
reliable, what is not, and then go to the actual fountainhead, go to the actual sources yourself.

02:05:06.300 --> 02:05:11.740
And if you can, fact check these things yourself. Also, even when you're looking at a reliable

02:05:11.740 --> 02:05:18.460
source, you have to be able to differentiate between that which is solid data and that which

02:05:18.460 --> 02:05:25.500
is the conclusion being drawn from the data. And when it comes to... We talked about creation a few

02:05:25.500 --> 02:05:35.980
weeks back and I personally, I enjoyed the film, Is Genesis History? Yeah. That documentary film.

02:05:37.020 --> 02:05:42.780
And it was a lot of scientists that believed in the Bible and believed in creation and stuff like

02:05:42.780 --> 02:05:47.740
that. And what they brought up a few times was that a lot of times we're looking at the same data,

02:05:48.620 --> 02:05:54.380
it's just we're interpreting the data differently. And so you have to be able to differentiate

02:05:54.380 --> 02:06:03.820
between what is the data? That's the conjunction time, 7.55 PM, March 22nd, versus the deduced

02:06:04.780 --> 02:06:15.180
date of 14 Nissan. That's a few steps removed of somebody giving their opinion and whatever.

02:06:15.180 --> 02:06:21.500
And so we can all agree on the astronomical data. The astronomical data is incredibly accurate,

02:06:21.500 --> 02:06:28.460
like within five minutes or something, 10 minutes or something. And so there's no question about

02:06:28.460 --> 02:06:32.620
the conjunction happening on March 22nd. It's just a matter of interpretation of,

02:06:32.620 --> 02:06:41.900
did they see it on the 23rd? We can't really know 100% for sure either way. And so that's like,

02:06:41.900 --> 02:06:46.460
is it Thursday? Is it Friday? But if the Bible teaches it's Thursday though,

02:06:46.460 --> 02:06:52.700
then it must have been Thursday. Well, and again, in your creation discussion that we had with Dr.

02:06:52.700 --> 02:06:57.900
Hovind, you kept drawing on the board, like all these data points and then a line going through

02:06:57.900 --> 02:07:02.540
them. And you're talking about extrapolating the data outside of the data points. But when we talk

02:07:02.540 --> 02:07:08.940
about these astronomy things, we actually have tons of data points in the future and in the past

02:07:09.500 --> 02:07:15.500
that we use to correlate and it's always matching exactly. So we actually have a lot of calibration.

02:07:15.500 --> 02:07:19.180
So this is much different than something like radiometric dating or carbon dating,

02:07:19.180 --> 02:07:24.620
where many times when they have known samples or even very close to known sample ages and they come

02:07:24.620 --> 02:07:30.460
up with wild dates, well, that doesn't present itself as a very exact science. Whereas like you

02:07:30.460 --> 02:07:35.500
said, with this astronomy calculation, they're pretty much always getting things within a pretty

02:07:35.500 --> 02:07:40.940
small window of error, five, 10 minutes or something like that, to where we can really

02:07:40.940 --> 02:07:46.700
actually wind back the clock and push it forward with a certain degree of certainty with a lot of

02:07:46.700 --> 02:07:51.100
accuracy. And even the events that we're going to see in the future, we're pretty much nailing them.

02:07:51.100 --> 02:07:55.100
I mean, we got it exactly. We're going to have a solar eclipse here. We know about it. This isn't

02:07:55.100 --> 02:08:00.380
like some pseudo science or something, or you have to believe some conspiracy of the government,

02:08:00.380 --> 02:08:05.260
like the government's doing something to manipulate the sky. It's like, nope, this is just literally

02:08:05.260 --> 02:08:09.180
a solar eclipse. It's going to happen. And there's lunar eclipse. There's all kinds of different

02:08:09.180 --> 02:08:14.860
things, the blood moons and stuff. Well, there's a cool story. And think about, this is going back

02:08:15.500 --> 02:08:21.420
like 500 years. There's a cool story where Christopher Columbus, he was trying to kind of

02:08:21.420 --> 02:08:27.900
get the Indians to submit and do what he wanted. So he told them like, hey, God's mad at you guys.

02:08:27.900 --> 02:08:33.180
And like, he's going to darken the sun on this day and whatever. And it was really just because

02:08:33.180 --> 02:08:37.820
he had some almanac telling him when the eclipses were going to happen. And this is, think about,

02:08:38.460 --> 02:08:44.860
Columbus sailed in 1492. It's a long time ago. Think about how much more advanced astronomy has

02:08:44.860 --> 02:08:50.620
become in the last 500 years with computers and just so much more advanced. We're probably

02:08:50.620 --> 02:08:57.180
literally shoulder those people. Exactly. And he predicted this eclipse. And then the Indians were

02:08:57.180 --> 02:09:03.420
super freaked out, like, oh man, like, how did you know? And so it's a God story from history.

02:09:04.060 --> 02:09:09.980
But like you said, we're not extra, now, if we tried to say, well, this is what the sky looked

02:09:09.980 --> 02:09:16.620
like in 4,000 BC or something, obviously we don't have any records that go back that far.

02:09:17.260 --> 02:09:24.300
And so then at that point, you could still assume that things are going the same way. Why would they

02:09:24.300 --> 02:09:30.940
change? But as far as like actual hard data, we do have hard data from the time of Christ,

02:09:30.940 --> 02:09:37.100
because you have astronomers before Christ, you have Greek astronomers before Christ,

02:09:37.100 --> 02:09:44.940
you have some wonderful records from the first few centuries AD, then you've got Chinese records,

02:09:44.940 --> 02:09:50.300
you've got Arab records, you got Greek records, you even have Babylonian records from before

02:09:50.300 --> 02:09:55.980
Christ and everything, varying levels of specificity and stuff. But if they're drawing

02:09:55.980 --> 02:10:00.700
and describing what they're seeing in the sky, and then we go to the simulator, roll it back,

02:10:00.700 --> 02:10:06.940
and boom, oh, they said there was an eclipse, boom, the software shows an eclipse that same day.

02:10:06.940 --> 02:10:11.260
Oh, they're looking at these stars, we're seeing the same thing in the simulation.

02:10:12.380 --> 02:10:17.580
That's how we know it's accurate. You check the simulator with historical records,

02:10:17.580 --> 02:10:23.820
just like the same thing with carbon dating. They can calibrate carbon dating back to about

02:10:23.820 --> 02:10:28.620
1000 BC, because they have certain things that they found from that time period.

02:10:29.180 --> 02:10:36.140
And then they know historically, they know pretty much, okay, this is when this pharaoh

02:10:36.140 --> 02:10:41.500
reigned or whatever. And then you can actually calibrate the thing. So, right. And again,

02:10:41.500 --> 02:10:49.580
go back and say, well, we're carbonating this to 8000 BC. That's again, you're getting outside of

02:10:49.580 --> 02:10:53.660
the actual known data at that point. Yeah. And we have a lot of these data points

02:10:54.300 --> 02:11:00.940
that are from different sources and different areas. It starts to bring the accuracy level in

02:11:01.500 --> 02:11:07.580
to a certain level of certainty. The only astronomical event that I can see in the Bible

02:11:07.580 --> 02:11:13.180
that kind of seems like maybe it's just a miracle is when the sun stands still for a whole day.

02:11:13.900 --> 02:11:15.820
That I don't know- That's for sure a miracle.

02:11:16.060 --> 02:11:20.780
I don't know that you could really explain that from the natural occurrences. I don't think that

02:11:20.780 --> 02:11:25.740
that's possible at all. So that's most likely some kind of a miracle.

02:11:25.740 --> 02:11:31.740
It's explicitly a miracle. And so- We could be a day off, right? But again,

02:11:31.740 --> 02:11:34.940
generally speaking, these things are consistent. That doesn't affect this.

02:11:34.940 --> 02:11:40.300
No, it doesn't affect this. That's before. That's like 1500 years before Christ or something.

02:11:40.300 --> 02:11:43.900
Right. Exactly. That doesn't even

02:11:44.620 --> 02:11:50.860
mean anything with this. And the astronomy records are all after that anyway.

02:11:50.860 --> 02:11:55.740
Well, I think a lot of times people have a weird view because they've been taught so much evolution

02:11:55.740 --> 02:12:00.140
that they don't realize how much it's kind of affected their perspective. They think that

02:12:00.140 --> 02:12:04.780
generations before us are a bunch of ooga booga. They don't really know anything because of

02:12:04.780 --> 02:12:12.140
computers and stuff. Now we're smart or something. But there's always been very smart people that

02:12:12.140 --> 02:12:17.340
have studied a lot of these things in time past. A lot of technology and information that we use

02:12:17.340 --> 02:12:24.380
today was built on the backs of generations in the past and their knowledge and their understanding.

02:12:24.380 --> 02:12:31.500
So it's a misnomer, I think, from a lot of people's perspective. They think that past generations or

02:12:31.500 --> 02:12:36.140
a long time ago, everybody was just dumb or everybody was inferior to the intellect of people

02:12:36.140 --> 02:12:43.020
today. Whereas that's not a true reflection of history. Of course, there were time periods when

02:12:43.580 --> 02:12:47.260
reading was really low, literacy was really low. And I'm sure that the common people,

02:12:48.380 --> 02:12:55.340
a lot of them were not very educated. But again, colleges and education has been a common theme

02:12:55.340 --> 02:13:00.860
throughout history. Smart people have studied a lot of these things in times past. And we're

02:13:00.860 --> 02:13:06.540
really standing on the shoulders of those data engineers. And we're just putting the data in a

02:13:06.540 --> 02:13:13.820
computer. But it's not like we're just discovering all this new stuff. People already understood how

02:13:13.820 --> 02:13:18.620
astronomy works. They understood mathematics. They understood a lot of these things. And we're just,

02:13:19.260 --> 02:13:24.780
and many times, catching up or figuring out how to use computers to solve those problems.

02:13:24.780 --> 02:13:29.180
But the problem with computers, I think, is it's actually caused a lot of people to be dumber

02:13:29.180 --> 02:13:33.180
because we rely on that tool and that instrument rather than having the head knowledge.

02:13:33.820 --> 02:13:38.940
Whereas in times past, many of these individuals knew how to calculate these things on paper and

02:13:38.940 --> 02:13:44.300
pen and could understand and talk about them intelligently, whereas today people would have

02:13:44.300 --> 02:13:50.700
to rely on tools and software. Well, and here's another really interesting thing that a lot of

02:13:50.700 --> 02:13:56.300
people might have heard of, the Antikythera mechanism. Are you familiar with that at all,

02:13:56.300 --> 02:14:04.060
Pastor Shelley? No. So this is something that was found in the Mediterranean Sea.

02:14:04.060 --> 02:14:12.380
Like they found it underwater. It was this artifact of a machine from the second century BC.

02:14:13.100 --> 02:14:20.140
So over 2000 years ago, it's this mechanism with all these turning gears and stuff.

02:14:20.300 --> 02:14:29.980
It's basically an astronomy device for predicting eclipses. So it's like this primitive machine

02:14:29.980 --> 02:14:36.380
where all these moving parts, tons of gears and everything. And basically, you put in the date

02:14:37.180 --> 02:14:42.860
and then it tells you what's going on from an astronomy perspective during that date.

02:14:42.860 --> 02:14:46.860
And you can use it to predict eclipses. And it tells you what month, what year.

02:14:47.660 --> 02:14:53.100
So it kind of was a mind blowing discovery of just, wow, these people not only were they

02:14:53.100 --> 02:14:57.740
advanced in their knowledge, but they actually built this little machine. And I use the word

02:14:57.740 --> 02:15:02.220
machine, but it's really just a lot of years. Obviously, it's not electronic. Some people

02:15:02.220 --> 02:15:08.860
describe it as a computer or something. But obviously, it's not electronic at all. It's

02:15:08.860 --> 02:15:16.620
just something that's hand cranked. You turn the dials and it tells you when the eclipse

02:15:16.940 --> 02:15:20.780
abacus or something. It's just like a physical device that calculates things.

02:15:20.780 --> 02:15:26.940
But it's really advanced though. And so it's really cool. It's like you said,

02:15:28.140 --> 02:15:31.500
they weren't going ooga booga 5,000 years ago because let's face it,

02:15:32.460 --> 02:15:38.300
you see people just building mega cities, building the pyramids. They're building some

02:15:38.300 --> 02:15:42.460
pretty incredible stuff because they're- Aqueducts, plumbing is mentioned in the Bible.

02:15:42.940 --> 02:15:46.700
A lot of these things that we think that don't exist really are mentioned in the

02:15:46.700 --> 02:15:52.220
scripture. And they weren't through the Buddha. Even the Indus River Valley civilization

02:15:53.100 --> 02:15:58.860
had plumbing and stuff. Sure. And again, Solomon's considered the smartest man to ever live. So

02:16:00.300 --> 02:16:05.260
he's like a peak of intellect and wisdom at that time. They're building buildings without

02:16:05.260 --> 02:16:09.900
hammers. They're building the temple of the Lord without hammering. And it's one of the most

02:16:09.900 --> 02:16:18.940
magnificent structures of all time. I would almost argue in some ways, society is losing

02:16:18.940 --> 02:16:24.940
intelligence or losing wisdom. Obviously, some ways we're increasing knowledge and technology.

02:16:24.940 --> 02:16:34.300
So I think it's like a complex understanding. In some ways-

02:16:34.300 --> 02:16:38.220
I wouldn't say that we're getting dumber. This is what I would say. I would just say

02:16:39.180 --> 02:16:45.100
we were super smart then and we're super smart now because humans are just smart.

02:16:45.660 --> 02:16:51.020
And so obviously, the general public is dumb, but the general public was dumb 2000 years ago. The

02:16:51.020 --> 02:16:58.060
general public was dumb 4000 years ago. But there have always been people who are smart and they're

02:16:58.620 --> 02:17:03.420
engineering things and they're doing astronomy. They're doing science. There's always been people

02:17:03.500 --> 02:17:08.220
who are into learning and into intellect and people who just kind of don't care and they're

02:17:08.220 --> 02:17:14.700
just kind of just whatever. Just give me another ice cream cone, turn on the cartoons, let's go.

02:17:15.900 --> 02:17:19.900
There have always been people who cared about learning and people who didn't care about learning.

02:17:21.340 --> 02:17:29.100
I don't think that the scientists of today or the mathematicians of today are inferior to the ones

02:17:29.100 --> 02:17:33.100
from 2000 years ago. I would just say they're smart now, they're smart then. It's the same

02:17:33.100 --> 02:17:37.900
humans. Human nature is the same. There's no new thing under the sun. You brought up Solomon.

02:17:38.780 --> 02:17:44.460
He's talking about plants. He's talking about animals. He's doing biology before Aristotle.

02:17:45.420 --> 02:17:49.900
I'm just saying to me, the viewpoint that I have is it's kind of like smart people

02:17:50.460 --> 02:17:55.900
have always been smart. Every civilization, every generation has really smart people and they're

02:17:55.900 --> 02:18:01.340
always at a high level. But the general populace kind of goes through a roller coaster of the

02:18:01.340 --> 02:18:05.820
general pop is kind of increasing knowledge and then going down and going up and it kind of ebbs

02:18:05.820 --> 02:18:13.420
and flows. It seems like our current generation is kind of in a decline. It seems like when they look

02:18:13.420 --> 02:18:18.220
at SAT scores and just the fact that we have to rely on so much technology, it almost seems like

02:18:18.220 --> 02:18:24.780
the general populace has been a little bit of a dumbing down effect. Lower literacy, lower

02:18:25.900 --> 02:18:31.180
just research and studying material. So the general pop is kind of waning. But of course,

02:18:31.180 --> 02:18:36.380
the smart people today, people like Elon Musk and other individuals are still highly intelligent,

02:18:36.380 --> 02:18:41.340
creating all kinds of advanced technology. New stuff is being discovered on a regular basis.

02:18:41.980 --> 02:18:46.460
I would agree smart people have just always been smart and we've always had them and they're the

02:18:46.460 --> 02:18:52.380
ones kind of building society, building civilization, keeping everything kind of running.

02:18:52.380 --> 02:18:59.980
But the general populace kind of ebbs and flows from certain degrees of intelligence.

02:18:59.980 --> 02:19:05.020
I'm not necessarily quite as pessimistic about the current generation.

02:19:08.620 --> 02:19:14.460
Because in some ways, obviously, yeah, we're disappointed sometimes with people's level of

02:19:14.460 --> 02:19:17.340
knowledge. But I just think it's always been that way, to be honest.

02:19:17.340 --> 02:19:18.220
Yeah, that's probably true.

02:19:18.380 --> 02:19:24.220
Yeah, I mean, and honestly, as far as just globally, literacy is at an all time high globally.

02:19:25.900 --> 02:19:30.540
Yeah, I know I would agree with that. I think that and again, you could almost argue we have

02:19:30.540 --> 02:19:34.540
a higher level intelligence globally than maybe times past just because of literacy specifically.

02:19:35.500 --> 02:19:40.220
I'm just saying, I guess I'm hyper focused on America. And just maybe,

02:19:40.220 --> 02:19:45.340
Yeah, I think you're hyper focused. I think you're hyper focused on like college campuses, too.

02:19:45.980 --> 02:19:51.340
And I think that part of the reason because of that, because I know you've gone to some

02:19:51.340 --> 02:19:56.780
college campuses and you found some people that weren't that smart. But the point is,

02:19:58.780 --> 02:20:03.660
I think that the difference there is that if you go back to like our parents generation,

02:20:04.540 --> 02:20:07.260
is that only a small minority went to college.

02:20:07.260 --> 02:20:07.900
That's true.

02:20:07.900 --> 02:20:13.580
And so the people that were going to college were kind of like the elite,

02:20:13.580 --> 02:20:17.500
they're intellectual, they're smart. Whereas now people have this attitude of like,

02:20:17.500 --> 02:20:22.460
everyone should go to college. So then what happens is, you have a lot of people going to college,

02:20:22.460 --> 02:20:27.260
you are not intellectual, they're not excelling at their studies, they're not that into it,

02:20:27.260 --> 02:20:32.700
they don't really care. But they're just kind of being funneled into like 13th grade, like,

02:20:32.700 --> 02:20:37.500
Okay, here we go. So I think that there are just as many smart people on college campuses now as

02:20:37.500 --> 02:20:44.300
there used to be. But you've also just brought in a lot more of the general population that are kind

02:20:44.300 --> 02:20:50.140
of just, you know, not at a high level, right, that are studying in college. And so there are,

02:20:50.140 --> 02:20:53.420
you're going to be easy classes to accommodate those kind of people.

02:20:53.420 --> 02:20:57.900
Yeah, the degree plans have broadened. So, you know, for the most part, people are going to

02:20:57.900 --> 02:21:03.660
college to become a doctor, or a lawyer, or some really highly skilled technical position or to

02:21:03.660 --> 02:21:11.420
study something in an advanced setting. Whereas now they just have such a broad array of degrees

02:21:11.420 --> 02:21:17.180
and fields of study. And yeah, there's definitely because of the increase of just the quantity of

02:21:17.180 --> 02:21:23.660
people going to college, that could maybe seem like academically, it's not as superior. But I

02:21:23.660 --> 02:21:29.340
agree with you that there's still the super smart people are there. And, you know, in times past,

02:21:29.340 --> 02:21:33.180
it's a little bit different. So maybe it's not fair to compare. But I think that, you know,

02:21:33.180 --> 02:21:38.380
there have been some articles and some research to suggest that just even in high schools,

02:21:38.380 --> 02:21:43.260
comparing high schools that maybe SAT scores or ACT scores, or some of that stuff has kind of

02:21:43.260 --> 02:21:48.380
gone downhill a little bit, or maybe there's been a little bit of a decrease in literacy rates,

02:21:48.380 --> 02:21:53.020
that could also be explained by some other factors as far as just increased migration,

02:21:53.820 --> 02:21:57.420
and diversity and things like that, too. So, you know, I don't know.

02:21:57.420 --> 02:22:01.820
Like you said, it's probably like a cycle a little bit, like,

02:22:01.820 --> 02:22:07.500
right. Ebs and flows, you know, certain generations are maybe a little more into

02:22:08.540 --> 02:22:13.740
education than others are learning. But you know, obviously, this podcast was not catering to the

02:22:13.740 --> 02:22:18.780
weak of mind, we were trying to talk about some advanced topics. I really appreciate you coming

02:22:18.780 --> 02:22:23.660
on the stream with me. This is, this is, I don't know why, but this is fun for me. I know, for some

02:22:23.660 --> 02:22:29.740
people might be kind of boring or not really their jive. But you know, this is my, this is something

02:22:29.740 --> 02:22:33.900
I get excited about. I liked making the chart. I like sharing, talking about it. I've already

02:22:33.900 --> 02:22:38.700
preached several sermons on it. So I kind of like doing the stream and having the visual aids,

02:22:38.700 --> 02:22:43.100
because I feel like the visual aids make kind of a big difference for me and for other people,

02:22:43.100 --> 02:22:47.740
probably as well. I really find the astronomy stuff super interesting. I'm glad you got to share

02:22:48.380 --> 02:22:52.780
the software, and I appreciate you coming on here. Of course, you know, obviously,

02:22:52.780 --> 02:22:56.780
the most important thing is just believing the death, bone resurrection, and putting your faith

02:22:56.780 --> 02:23:01.420
in Christ for salvation. So salvation is according to the Bible, a free gift. It's just by faith

02:23:01.420 --> 02:23:06.060
alone. That's not, you know, Good Friday is not the only thing Catholics get wrong. They think it's

02:23:06.060 --> 02:23:10.620
by works that you have to be saved. And they're wrong on that as well. Salvation is clearly a

02:23:10.620 --> 02:23:17.420
free gift just by faith. It's all what he did. And I love that picture of Christ being in the tomb,

02:23:17.980 --> 02:23:23.500
and it being Sabbath for man showing Christ doing the work for us, and then rising in from the dead,

02:23:23.500 --> 02:23:28.780
and simply salvation is trusting in his rest. The Bible describes salvation as a Sabbath that

02:23:28.780 --> 02:23:34.460
we're entering into his rest, and that Jesus Christ truly paid it all. He did everything for

02:23:34.460 --> 02:23:40.380
us necessary for our salvation. And I just hope that people will appreciate the Bible more.

02:23:41.100 --> 02:23:46.140
And the goal of a stream like this to me is to show that we can trust the Bible. The Bible's right,

02:23:46.140 --> 02:23:51.580
the Bible's accurate, there's no contradiction, and that we should trust every word and not get

02:23:51.580 --> 02:23:55.900
a Catholic view of just like, oh, well, you know, it's just mistranslated, or you got to change it

02:23:55.900 --> 02:24:00.780
here. Well, you know, it's not a big deal. You know, that's their take on Christianity. And,

02:24:00.780 --> 02:24:05.500
you know, we want to get every word of God, we want to get it dialed in. We want to believe the

02:24:05.500 --> 02:24:08.700
scripture. And of course, there's plenty of people that believe the Bible and are faithful

02:24:08.700 --> 02:24:13.260
Christians, and they believe in the Wednesday view. And I'm not down on you. I've definitely held that

02:24:13.260 --> 02:24:19.980
view. But I think that, you know, it makes sense to reconcile all the verses, make sure that they

02:24:19.980 --> 02:24:24.780
all match. And I think Thursday does that perfectly. Do you have any final thoughts for

02:24:24.780 --> 02:24:30.380
us before we kind of wrap up this afternoon? No, I think I think that was a great wrap up

02:24:30.380 --> 02:24:37.660
that you just gave. I mean, one thing I do just think is kind of cool about the 30 AD is just that

02:24:38.220 --> 02:24:44.140
it's like exactly 40 years before the destruction of the temple. So that's kind of a nice clean

02:24:44.140 --> 02:24:49.900
number, you know, with the 40 years going by and then the temple being destroyed. But again,

02:24:49.900 --> 02:24:54.460
you know, I agree with you. If people believe in Wednesday or Thursday, those, you know,

02:24:55.340 --> 02:25:00.460
are both, you know, good positions to have, although, you know, Thursday is the one that I

02:25:01.020 --> 02:25:05.340
strongly believe is correct. And even if people are mixed up and believe Friday, I mean, you know,

02:25:05.340 --> 02:25:10.540
they're still saved. They're just, you know, they're just not maybe understanding those

02:25:10.540 --> 02:25:19.020
scriptures. And so, you know, I enjoyed being on here. I like these topics and I, you know, I

02:25:19.020 --> 02:25:25.740
just want to thank you for even basically educating me on this subject because of the fact that,

02:25:25.740 --> 02:25:35.100
you know, you're kind of the first person that did a deep dive and was able to really, you know,

02:25:35.100 --> 02:25:39.980
give a comprehensive view to convince me of Thursday. So.

02:25:39.980 --> 02:25:44.780
Well, and it's crazy because I didn't try. Like I said, I did try to prove Wednesday

02:25:44.780 --> 02:25:52.220
and I gave up. And then just one day reading Mark, it just like I believe is Mark 14.

02:25:52.220 --> 02:25:59.340
It just totally changed my mind. I said, I think I can figure this out. And, you know, I just kind of

02:25:59.900 --> 02:26:04.540
took the time to try and really study what the Bible is saying on that issue. And it just,

02:26:04.540 --> 02:26:08.300
it seemed like a puzzle that was just slowly getting put together. And you know, when you get

02:26:08.300 --> 02:26:12.140
to that final stage, it's kind of fun. Like puzzles are frustrating because it just takes

02:26:12.140 --> 02:26:16.700
forever to get the edges. But it's like, once you get the edges and you get the big piece,

02:26:16.700 --> 02:26:20.460
then there's like this kind of fun rush at the very end where you're just kind of putting every

02:26:20.460 --> 02:26:24.380
one of those last little puzzle pieces in there. And then it just all fits together. And it's just

02:26:24.380 --> 02:26:27.980
like, it's a lot of fun. If you've ever done a puzzle, like kind of the last few minutes,

02:26:27.980 --> 02:26:32.460
you're just putting pieces in like left and right, just going super fast. And it's a lot of fun.

02:26:32.460 --> 02:26:36.460
That's kind of how I felt with this. It was like, it took a while to get all the edges in.

02:26:36.460 --> 02:26:40.940
But then it was like, bam, just everything just started clicking. It made a lot of sense.

02:26:40.940 --> 02:26:44.780
Last Supper started making a lot of sense. The Crucifixion made a lot of sense. All the

02:26:44.780 --> 02:26:49.500
Sabbath days made a lot of sense. And I didn't have it prepared with me, but I'm just going to

02:26:49.500 --> 02:26:55.260
shoot from the hip on this. But I did do a little research on like what quantity of the Gospels

02:26:55.260 --> 02:27:00.860
specifically are talking about the Passion Week. Like they're focused on just this last one week

02:27:00.860 --> 02:27:09.500
or the Holy Week of Scripture. And it's about 33% of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are dedicated

02:27:09.500 --> 02:27:14.940
as far as just the chapters. If you just look at like the chapters or the amount of text dedicated

02:27:14.940 --> 02:27:20.860
just to that last week, it's almost a third of the New Testament specifically. So I think that

02:27:21.420 --> 02:27:26.380
getting the right timeline and kind of looking at this chart and getting it in your heart

02:27:26.460 --> 02:27:30.860
actually really helps you understand a large section of the New Testament because a lot of

02:27:30.860 --> 02:27:34.780
the New Testament, a lot of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are focused on specifically

02:27:35.820 --> 02:27:39.420
this time period. I mean, you have John 12 all the way to virtually

02:27:40.300 --> 02:27:46.620
Chapter 20 is focused just on the specific week. And you have many large portions of

02:27:46.620 --> 02:27:51.900
Matthew, Mark, and Luke also dedicated to just this specific one week of time. And of course,

02:27:52.380 --> 02:27:59.660
it's a really important week of human history is the Passover, is Jesus Christ being our Passover.

02:28:00.220 --> 02:28:04.700
That's why we've been celebrating the Lord's Supper is specifically to celebrate what Jesus

02:28:04.700 --> 02:28:09.900
Christ did for us. And so I really appreciate you guys tuning in. If you want to check out

02:28:09.900 --> 02:28:14.460
Pastor Steven Anderson, you got to check out Faithward Baptist Church. Give us some of the

02:28:14.460 --> 02:28:19.740
plugs. Where do we find your preaching? I mean, the best place to go is just

02:28:19.740 --> 02:28:25.900
the preaching.com or if you just Google Faithward Baptist Church, there's all kinds of

02:28:26.620 --> 02:28:33.420
talk about how bad we are, but it should also link to our website at some point. But I just usually,

02:28:33.420 --> 02:28:39.500
it's FaithwardBaptist.org is the website, FaithwardBaptist.org. But an easy way to get

02:28:39.500 --> 02:28:44.380
there is just to type in the preaching.com. Great. And you can check him out on Rumble.

02:28:44.380 --> 02:28:48.780
He's got a couple of channels there. I'm going to try and put in the description of this video

02:28:48.780 --> 02:28:53.900
after we're done a lot of the links to some of the stuff that we're sharing. On our website,

02:28:53.900 --> 02:29:00.300
specifically, sbckjv.com, you can find the timing of the Passover chart that I have.

02:29:01.340 --> 02:29:06.940
One sad thing is you can't share that on Facebook. I guess Facebook's blocked all of our URLs and

02:29:06.940 --> 02:29:11.020
everything like that. But you could download the chart and reupload it as just a picture or

02:29:11.020 --> 02:29:18.140
something apart from our website link address. But you can't ever link to me or my name or

02:29:19.900 --> 02:29:25.820
anything with our church on Facebook. So some people like to try and share this information.

02:29:25.820 --> 02:29:30.700
If you run into that issue, there's other ways to share it. But also follow us on Rumble,

02:29:30.700 --> 02:29:35.420
our Steadfast Baptist Church channel. We also have an email list. We started a new one,

02:29:35.500 --> 02:29:45.180
baptisbias.com. You can join us. We love Rumble. Rumble's great, but we never know how long Rumble

02:29:45.180 --> 02:29:51.900
is going to keep us. And so you can do that. I also added a locals button on our channel.

02:29:51.900 --> 02:29:57.660
And I'm not planning on putting any paid content out there at this time. I don't think I ever will,

02:29:57.660 --> 02:30:02.940
but it's just an opportunity. If people want to help us or support us, you can do so. There's

02:30:02.940 --> 02:30:08.620
a community feature there where you can go through. And I really appreciate you joining us.

02:30:08.620 --> 02:30:12.860
There's a long stream. If you just caught part of it, make sure to go back to the beginning.

02:30:12.860 --> 02:30:17.100
We laid down a lot of foundation, a lot of important information there. We want you to

02:30:17.100 --> 02:30:23.420
follow the whole video. And of course, make sure you go to church this Easter. We want to celebrate

02:30:23.420 --> 02:30:29.580
the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. That's going to do it for us. Everyone's got a perspective,

02:30:29.580 --> 02:30:43.660
but you need to get the baptis bias.
