WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:06.720
O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

00:06.720 --> 00:15.520
Precious King, O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

00:15.520 --> 00:24.000
Take the name of Jesus ever as a shield from every stare.

00:24.000 --> 00:32.000
If temptations round together, bring them all into prayer.

00:32.000 --> 00:40.000
Precious King, O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

00:40.000 --> 00:49.000
Precious King, O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

00:49.000 --> 00:57.000
O, the precious name of Jesus, that now it grills our souls with joy,

00:57.000 --> 01:05.000
With his loving arms we sing his praise, and his songs our tongues employ.

01:05.000 --> 01:13.000
Precious King, O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

01:13.000 --> 01:22.000
Precious King, O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

01:22.000 --> 01:30.000
At the name of Jesus' name we call in Boston at his feet.

01:30.000 --> 01:38.000
The King of Kings in heaven will crown him when our journeys complete.

01:38.000 --> 01:46.000
Precious King, O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

01:46.000 --> 01:59.000
Precious King, O, what sweet hope of earth and joy of heaven!

01:59.000 --> 02:06.000
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder

02:06.000 --> 02:13.000
Consider all the worlds I have made

02:13.000 --> 02:20.000
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder

02:20.000 --> 02:27.000
Like round throughout the universe display

02:27.000 --> 02:34.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

02:34.000 --> 02:41.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

02:41.000 --> 02:48.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

02:48.000 --> 02:59.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

02:59.000 --> 03:06.000
When through the woods and forests I wander

03:06.000 --> 03:13.000
And hear the words in singing as praise

03:13.000 --> 03:20.000
When I look down from lofty mountain range

03:20.000 --> 03:27.000
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze

03:27.000 --> 03:34.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

03:34.000 --> 03:41.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

03:41.000 --> 03:48.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

03:48.000 --> 04:01.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

04:01.000 --> 04:08.000
And when I think that God is son, God's bearing

04:08.000 --> 04:15.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

04:15.000 --> 04:23.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

04:23.000 --> 04:30.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

04:30.000 --> 04:38.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

04:38.000 --> 04:46.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

04:46.000 --> 04:54.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

04:54.000 --> 05:07.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

05:07.000 --> 05:12.000
On the last now, When Christ shall come

05:12.000 --> 05:16.000
His shout of acclamation

05:16.000 --> 05:19.000
And take me home

05:19.000 --> 05:23.000
The joy shall fill my heart

05:23.000 --> 05:31.000
Then I shall bow in humble adoration

05:31.000 --> 05:39.000
And there proclaim, My God, how great Thou art

05:39.000 --> 05:47.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

05:47.000 --> 05:55.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

05:55.000 --> 06:03.000
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

06:04.000 --> 06:21.000
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

06:21.000 --> 06:30.000
In the dark of the midnight, have I oft in my face

06:30.000 --> 06:38.000
All the storms have abut me and there's no hiding place

06:38.000 --> 06:47.000
In the valley of the London, Jesus born with my cry

06:47.000 --> 06:55.000
Leave me safe till the storm passes by

06:55.000 --> 06:59.000
Till the storm passes by

06:59.000 --> 07:03.000
Till the thunder sounds from far

07:03.000 --> 07:12.000
Till the clouds roll forever round the sky

07:12.000 --> 07:16.000
Oh, be glad, take me safe

07:16.000 --> 07:20.000
In the hollow of my head

07:20.000 --> 07:28.000
Leave me safe till the storm passes by

07:28.000 --> 07:37.000
Many times, say to whisper, there is no easy time

07:37.000 --> 07:41.000
For there's no end of sorrow

07:41.000 --> 07:45.000
There's no hope I find

07:45.000 --> 07:53.000
But I know, Thou art with me when tomorrow arrives

07:53.000 --> 08:00.000
When the storm never dies in the sky

08:00.000 --> 08:05.000
When the storm passes by

08:05.000 --> 08:10.000
Till the thunder sounds from far

08:10.000 --> 08:14.000
Till the clouds roll forever round the sky

08:14.000 --> 08:18.000
From the sky

08:18.000 --> 08:22.000
Oh, be glad, take me safe

08:22.000 --> 08:27.000
In the hollow of my head

08:27.000 --> 08:33.000
Leave me safe till the storm passes by

08:33.000 --> 08:35.000
When the long night

08:35.000 --> 08:38.000
When the long night

08:38.000 --> 08:41.000
The night is dead, the day is gone

08:41.000 --> 08:44.000
Till the morning

08:44.000 --> 08:48.000
Let me stand in my presence

08:48.000 --> 08:52.000
On that bright, peaceful road

08:52.000 --> 08:56.000
In the head, there are 10 days

08:56.000 --> 09:02.000
There will come to a day I will be

09:02.000 --> 09:06.000
In the storm that's to come

09:06.000 --> 09:08.000
Till the morning comes

09:08.000 --> 09:12.000
Till the storm passes over

09:12.000 --> 09:16.000
Till the thunder sounds from far

09:16.000 --> 09:20.000
Till the clouds roll forever

09:20.000 --> 09:24.000
Round the sky

09:24.000 --> 09:29.000
Oh, be glad, take me safe

09:29.000 --> 09:33.000
In the hollow of my head

09:33.000 --> 09:41.000
Leave me safe till the storm passes by

09:42.000 --> 09:44.000
Can you go back on that very first verse?

09:44.000 --> 09:46.000
This is just, we don't want to rush right through this.

09:46.000 --> 09:48.000
This is encouraging in the middle of the week.

09:48.000 --> 09:50.000
Any part of the week really if you think about it.

09:50.000 --> 09:52.000
Verse 1 begins in the dark of the midnight.

09:52.000 --> 09:54.000
Have I oft hid my face?

09:54.000 --> 09:55.000
We've been there.

09:55.000 --> 09:56.000
Lift it up from your heart.

09:56.000 --> 09:58.000
We're going to let the instruments drop out on the chorus

09:58.000 --> 10:00.000
and just sing to your Lord tonight.

10:00.000 --> 10:02.000
On that first verse altogether now.

10:02.000 --> 10:06.000
In the dark of the midnight

10:06.000 --> 10:10.000
In the hollow of my head

10:10.000 --> 10:14.000
Round the storm, round the mountain

10:14.000 --> 10:18.000
In the end, we saw a lightning

10:18.000 --> 10:23.000
In the crash of the thunder

10:23.000 --> 10:27.000
As the storm did not rise

10:27.000 --> 10:34.000
Take me safe till the storm passes by

10:35.000 --> 10:40.000
Till the storm passes over

10:40.000 --> 10:45.000
Till the thunder sounds no more

10:45.000 --> 10:50.000
Till the clouds roll forever

10:50.000 --> 10:55.000
From the sky

10:55.000 --> 11:00.000
Oh, be fast, let me stand

11:00.000 --> 11:05.000
In the hollow of my head

11:05.000 --> 11:16.000
Keep me safe till the storm passes by

11:17.000 --> 11:20.000
Are you weary? Are you happy? Pardon?

11:20.000 --> 11:24.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

11:24.000 --> 11:28.000
Are you grieving? Or rejoicing? Pardon?

11:28.000 --> 11:32.000
Tell it to Jesus, Lord, Lord

11:32.000 --> 11:36.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

11:36.000 --> 11:40.000
He is a friend that's well-known

11:40.000 --> 11:44.000
Who no other is such a friend or brother

11:44.000 --> 11:48.000
Tell it to Jesus, Lord, Lord

11:48.000 --> 11:52.000
Do the tears flow down your cheeks of pain

11:52.000 --> 11:56.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

11:56.000 --> 12:00.000
Have you sinned and to be tithed or bidden?

12:00.000 --> 12:04.000
Tell it to Jesus, Lord, Lord

12:04.000 --> 12:08.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

12:08.000 --> 12:12.000
He is a friend that's well-known

12:12.000 --> 12:16.000
Who no other is such a friend or brother

12:16.000 --> 12:20.000
Tell it to Jesus, Lord, Lord

12:20.000 --> 12:24.000
Do you feel the death across the storm?

12:24.000 --> 12:28.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

12:28.000 --> 12:32.000
Are you anxious? What shall it tomorrow?

12:32.000 --> 12:36.000
Tell it to Jesus, my Lord

12:36.000 --> 12:40.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

12:40.000 --> 12:44.000
He is a friend that's well-known

12:44.000 --> 12:48.000
Who no other is such a friend or brother

12:48.000 --> 12:52.000
Tell it to Jesus, Lord, Lord

12:52.000 --> 12:56.000
Are you troubled at the thought of dying?

12:56.000 --> 13:00.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

13:00.000 --> 13:04.000
Lord Christ, the Holy King, come, are you sighing?

13:04.000 --> 13:08.000
Tell it to Jesus alone

13:08.000 --> 13:12.000
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus

13:12.000 --> 13:16.000
He is a friend that's well-known

13:16.000 --> 13:20.000
Who no other is such a friend or brother

13:20.000 --> 13:24.000
Tell it to Jesus alone

13:24.000 --> 13:30.000
Jesus, give me here the cross

13:30.000 --> 13:35.000
There a precious mountain

13:35.000 --> 13:40.000
Free to all on healing stream

13:40.000 --> 13:45.000
Close from Calvary's mountain

13:45.000 --> 13:50.000
Give the cross, give the cross

13:50.000 --> 13:55.000
Be my glory ever

13:55.000 --> 14:00.000
Till my raptured soul shall find

14:00.000 --> 14:05.000
Rest beyond the river

14:05.000 --> 14:10.000
At the cross I stood one day

14:10.000 --> 14:15.000
Love and mercy found me

14:15.000 --> 14:20.000
There the bright and loving star

14:20.000 --> 14:25.000
Sheds its wings around me

14:25.000 --> 14:30.000
Give the cross, give the cross

14:30.000 --> 14:35.000
Be my glory ever

14:35.000 --> 14:40.000
Till my raptured soul shall find

14:40.000 --> 14:44.000
Rest beyond the river

14:44.000 --> 14:49.000
Near the cross, O Lamb of God

14:49.000 --> 14:53.000
Brings its seeds before me

14:53.000 --> 14:58.000
Help me love from day to day

14:58.000 --> 15:02.000
Give this shadow on me

15:02.000 --> 15:07.000
Give the cross, give the cross

15:07.000 --> 15:11.000
Be my glory ever

15:11.000 --> 15:16.000
Till my raptured soul shall find

15:16.000 --> 15:21.000
Rest beyond the river

15:21.000 --> 15:26.000
Near the cross, O Lamb of God

15:26.000 --> 15:30.000
Hope and trust together

15:30.000 --> 15:35.000
Till I reach the boiling sea

15:35.000 --> 15:40.000
Just beyond the river

15:40.000 --> 15:45.000
Give the cross, give the cross

15:45.000 --> 15:49.000
Be my glory ever

15:49.000 --> 15:54.000
Till my raptured soul shall find

15:54.000 --> 15:59.000
Rest beyond the river

16:00.000 --> 16:07.000
I don't know about tomorrow

16:07.000 --> 16:14.000
I just live from day to day

16:14.000 --> 16:22.000
I don't borrow from its sunshine

16:22.000 --> 16:29.000
For its skies may turn to grey

16:29.000 --> 16:36.000
I don't worry o'er the future

16:36.000 --> 16:43.000
For I know what Jesus said

16:43.000 --> 16:51.000
And today I'll walk beside him

16:51.000 --> 16:58.000
For he knows what is ahead

16:58.000 --> 17:06.000
Many things about tomorrow

17:06.000 --> 17:13.000
I don't seem to understand

17:13.000 --> 17:20.000
But I know the love tomorrow

17:20.000 --> 17:28.000
And I know who holds my hand

17:28.000 --> 17:35.000
Every step is leading by the word

17:35.000 --> 17:42.000
As the golden stairs I climb

17:42.000 --> 17:49.000
Every bird has deaden by turn

17:49.000 --> 17:57.000
Every cloud is silver-lined

17:57.000 --> 18:04.000
Where the sun is always shining

18:04.000 --> 18:11.000
Where no tear will dip the eye

18:11.000 --> 18:19.000
At the ending of the rainbow

18:19.000 --> 18:26.000
Where the mountains just to stand

18:26.000 --> 18:34.000
Many things about tomorrow

18:34.000 --> 18:41.000
I don't seem to understand

18:41.000 --> 18:49.000
But I know who holds tomorrow

18:49.000 --> 18:56.000
And I know who holds my hand

18:56.000 --> 19:04.000
I don't know about tomorrow

19:04.000 --> 19:11.000
If you bring me poverty

19:11.000 --> 19:15.000
But don't know why

19:15.000 --> 19:19.000
The peace of sorrow

19:19.000 --> 19:23.000
Is the blood that's been

19:41.000 --> 19:48.000
I don't know what I'm doing

19:48.000 --> 19:53.000
But I know the love tomorrow

19:53.000 --> 19:58.000
I don't know what I'm doing

19:58.000 --> 20:03.000
But I know the love tomorrow

20:03.000 --> 20:08.000
I don't know about tomorrow

20:08.000 --> 20:13.000
I don't know what I'm doing

20:13.000 --> 20:18.000
But I know the love tomorrow

20:18.000 --> 20:23.000
I don't know what I'm doing

20:23.000 --> 20:28.000
But I know the love tomorrow

20:28.000 --> 20:33.000
I don't know what I'm doing

20:33.000 --> 20:36.000
My Anchor Holds, page 134

20:36.000 --> 20:38.000
My Anchor Holds

20:44.000 --> 20:48.000
Page 134, My Anchor Holds

20:51.000 --> 20:53.000
Sing it out with us now on that first

20:53.000 --> 20:58.000
Oh, the angry surge has flowed

20:58.000 --> 21:03.000
On my trapped and driven soul

21:03.000 --> 21:07.000
I am peaceful for I know

21:07.000 --> 21:12.000
While they know the winds may blow

21:12.000 --> 21:16.000
I'm an anchor, scrape and shore

21:16.000 --> 21:21.000
That can evermore endure

21:21.000 --> 21:25.000
And my Holds, my Anchor Holds

21:25.000 --> 21:30.000
Blow your wildest and own gale

21:30.000 --> 21:34.000
Off my bark so small and grim

21:34.000 --> 21:39.000
By His grace I shall not fail

21:39.000 --> 21:43.000
For my anchor holds

21:43.000 --> 21:47.000
My anchor holds

21:47.000 --> 21:48.000
Good, on the second

21:48.000 --> 21:52.000
Mighty tides, a mouth be sweet

21:52.000 --> 21:56.000
Perils work within the deep

21:56.000 --> 22:01.000
Angry clouds will shade the sky

22:01.000 --> 22:05.000
And the tempest rises high

22:05.000 --> 22:09.000
Still I stand the tempest shock

22:09.000 --> 22:14.000
For my anchor grips the rock

22:14.000 --> 22:18.000
And it holds, my anchor holds

22:19.000 --> 22:23.000
Blow your wildest and own gale

22:23.000 --> 22:27.000
On my bark so small and grim

22:27.000 --> 22:32.000
By His grace I shall not fail

22:32.000 --> 22:36.000
For my anchor holds

22:36.000 --> 22:40.000
My anchor holds

22:40.000 --> 22:45.000
I can feel the anchor pass

22:45.000 --> 22:49.000
As I meet each shot in blast

22:49.000 --> 22:54.000
And the cable, though unseen

22:54.000 --> 22:58.000
Bears the heavy stream between

22:58.000 --> 23:02.000
Through the storm I take the ride

23:02.000 --> 23:07.000
Till the turning of the tide

23:07.000 --> 23:11.000
And it holds, my anchor holds

23:11.000 --> 23:15.000
Blow your wildest and own gale

23:15.000 --> 23:20.000
On my bark so small and grim

23:20.000 --> 23:24.000
By His grace I shall not fail

23:24.000 --> 23:28.000
For my anchor holds

23:28.000 --> 23:32.000
My anchor holds

23:32.000 --> 23:35.000
Strong on the last, troubles no

23:35.000 --> 23:38.000
Must dwell the soul

23:38.000 --> 23:42.000
Reaps my millers or me roll

23:42.000 --> 23:46.000
Tempt to seek to lure us stray

23:46.000 --> 23:51.000
The storms will skewer the night of day

23:51.000 --> 23:55.000
But in Christ I can't be bold

23:55.000 --> 23:59.000
I'm an anchor that shall hold

23:59.000 --> 24:04.000
And it holds, my anchor holds

24:04.000 --> 24:08.000
Blow your wildest and own gale

24:08.000 --> 24:13.000
On my bark so small and grim

24:13.000 --> 24:17.000
By His grace I shall not fail

24:17.000 --> 24:21.000
For my anchor holds

24:21.000 --> 24:26.000
My anchor holds

24:26.000 --> 24:30.000
Amen. Great singing this evening. Let's all open up with a word of prayer.

24:30.000 --> 24:37.000
Heavenly Father, we thank you for Stepfast Baptist Church and all who came tonight to gather to worship you and to hear your word preached.

24:37.000 --> 24:43.000
I pray, Lord, that those who are having a hard week, that they be comforted and strengthened through your word tonight.

24:43.000 --> 24:47.000
And that you just bless the service, you bless the soul winning this week and the fellowship to come.

24:47.000 --> 24:50.000
We love you. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

24:50.000 --> 24:55.000
Page number 396 will be our second song this evening.

24:55.000 --> 24:59.000
So Little Time, page 396.

24:59.000 --> 25:03.000
So Little Time.

25:07.000 --> 25:11.000
Page 396.

25:11.000 --> 25:14.000
So Little Time.

25:14.000 --> 25:17.000
Sing it out with us on that first.

25:17.000 --> 25:22.000
So little time, the hardest will be over

25:22.000 --> 25:27.000
Our reaping done, we rebirth taken home

25:27.000 --> 25:33.000
Report our word to Jesus, Lord of harvest

25:33.000 --> 25:39.000
And hope His smile in that hill say, well done

25:39.000 --> 25:45.000
Today we reap for this dark golden harvest

25:45.000 --> 25:51.000
Today is given us what's full to win

25:51.000 --> 25:57.000
Oh, then to save some dear ones from the burning

25:57.000 --> 26:03.000
Today we'll go to bring some sinner in

26:03.000 --> 26:09.000
How many times I should have strongly pleaded

26:09.000 --> 26:15.000
How often did I feel too strictly warned

26:15.000 --> 26:20.000
The Spirit moved, oh, had I pled for Jesus

26:20.000 --> 26:26.000
That the greatest problem lost once not reborn

26:26.000 --> 26:32.000
Today we reap for this dark golden harvest

26:32.000 --> 26:38.000
Today is given us what's full to win

26:38.000 --> 26:44.000
Oh, then to save some dear ones from the burning

26:44.000 --> 26:50.000
Today we'll go to bring some sinner in

26:50.000 --> 26:56.000
Despite the heat, the ceaseless toil, the hardship

26:56.000 --> 27:02.000
The broken heart, for those we cannot win

27:02.000 --> 27:08.000
Misunderstood because we're all peculiar

27:08.000 --> 27:13.000
Still no regrets, we'll have up for our sin

27:13.000 --> 27:19.000
Today we reap for this dark golden harvest

27:19.000 --> 27:25.000
Today is given us what's full to win

27:25.000 --> 27:31.000
Oh, then to save some dear ones from the burning

27:31.000 --> 27:37.000
Today we'll go to bring some sinner in

27:37.000 --> 27:42.000
A day of pleasure or a feast of friendship

27:42.000 --> 27:48.000
A house or car or garment spare or faint

27:48.000 --> 27:54.000
We'll all be trashed when souls are brought to heaven

27:54.000 --> 28:00.000
And then now sad to face the slackers' blame

28:00.000 --> 28:06.000
Today we reap for this dark golden harvest

28:06.000 --> 28:11.000
Today is given us what's full to win

28:11.000 --> 28:17.000
Oh, then to save some dear ones from the burning

28:17.000 --> 28:22.000
Today we'll go to bring some sinner in

28:22.000 --> 28:25.000
Strong at the last, the harvest wide

28:25.000 --> 28:29.000
With reapers few is wasting

28:29.000 --> 28:35.000
And many souls will die and never know

28:35.000 --> 28:41.000
The love of Christ, the joy of sin forgiven

28:41.000 --> 28:47.000
Oh, let us sing and love and pray and go

28:47.000 --> 28:53.000
Today we reap for this dark golden harvest

28:53.000 --> 28:59.000
Today is given us what's full to win

28:59.000 --> 29:04.000
Oh, then to save some dear ones from the burning

29:04.000 --> 29:11.000
Today we'll go to bring some sinner in

29:34.000 --> 29:40.000
On the inside we've got our service times, our soul winning times, and our stats below that as well.

29:40.000 --> 29:47.000
Just a reminder to continue to post your soul winning totals, emails into the group chat.

29:47.000 --> 29:50.000
We have our expecting mother list as well to be in prayer for.

29:50.000 --> 29:56.000
Some upcoming events. May 9th is the Mother's Day brunch that will be here at the church.

29:56.000 --> 30:01.000
And then we have May 15th through the 16th is the Red Hot Preaching Conference.

30:01.000 --> 30:04.000
And the pastor is going to be preaching for that.

30:04.000 --> 30:07.000
And so keep that in your prayers as he's traveling.

30:07.000 --> 30:11.000
And also just stay tuned so you can maybe check out that sermon.

30:11.000 --> 30:16.000
The anti-Israel conference is going to be May 20th through the 24th.

30:16.000 --> 30:19.000
And really excited, looking forward to that.

30:19.000 --> 30:24.000
Looking forward to trying to figure out how we're going to squeeze everybody into the auditorium.

30:24.000 --> 30:26.000
So it'll be a lot of fun.

30:26.000 --> 30:29.000
It's always a great time to host those conferences.

30:29.000 --> 30:32.000
And get to hear from some great preachers.

30:32.000 --> 30:35.000
The Europe Soul Winning Conference is June 17th through the 20th.

30:35.000 --> 30:39.000
Father's Day floats June 21st for Father's Day.

30:39.000 --> 30:44.000
And then we have the Fiji Missions Trip July 12th through the 18th.

30:44.000 --> 30:48.000
And then there's the Mesquite Soul Winning Marathon August 22nd.

30:48.000 --> 30:53.000
And then we're hosting a Missions Trip to Barbados September 7th through the 12th.

30:53.000 --> 31:01.000
There is a sign-up sheet, or rather a registry that you can sign up for on GodResource.

31:01.000 --> 31:04.000
There's a QR code that you can scan.

31:04.000 --> 31:06.000
Along with the anti-Israel conference as well.

31:06.000 --> 31:09.000
Just make sure that you are registering for that.

31:09.000 --> 31:11.000
I've already gotten many itineraries sent in.

31:11.000 --> 31:15.000
And so definitely make sure you get those tickets booked.

31:15.000 --> 31:22.000
If you have any questions about airports, just anything related to the Missions Trip,

31:22.000 --> 31:24.000
you can always see me and I can help you out with that.

31:24.000 --> 31:27.000
We have the Heritage of the Lord Conference October 9th through the 11th.

31:27.000 --> 31:30.000
Our annual Chili Cook Off October 31st.

31:30.000 --> 31:35.000
And then there's going to be a Faithful Word Preaching Bootcamp in November.

31:35.000 --> 31:38.000
Hosted by Faithful Word Baptist Church.

31:38.000 --> 31:45.000
And that will be a great opportunity for men to get better and fine tune their skills at preaching.

31:45.000 --> 31:48.000
On the back we have our prayer list.

31:48.000 --> 31:49.000
We'll go through that.

31:49.000 --> 31:52.000
We'll continue to pray for Brother Tony and his back.

31:52.000 --> 31:55.000
And just recovering and healing completely.

31:55.000 --> 31:59.000
Continue to pray for Brother Suhail's mother.

31:59.000 --> 32:01.000
Also Brother Billy Day's mother.

32:01.000 --> 32:04.000
And his son and some other family members there.

32:04.000 --> 32:09.000
We'll continue to pray for Brother Spurgeon for a job opportunity.

32:09.000 --> 32:14.000
Also for Brother Nick Connery's Brother Elliot.

32:14.000 --> 32:15.000
Recovering from surgery.

32:15.000 --> 32:19.000
And then we'll continue to pray for Brother Jameson as he's in the Philippines.

32:19.000 --> 32:26.000
And also I put in there to be in prayer for the Barbados Mission Strip that we would be able to get access to the schools.

32:26.000 --> 32:28.000
I'm trying really hard on that.

32:28.000 --> 32:35.000
Nothing set in stone just yet, but we do have a lot of lines in the water, if you will.

32:35.000 --> 32:38.000
So just continue to be in prayer that God would open some doors there.

32:38.000 --> 32:42.000
And then also continue to pray for the Larky's daughter, Miss Noel.

32:43.000 --> 32:45.000
I'll say a quick word of prayer.

32:45.000 --> 32:50.000
Devotee and Father, Lord, thank you for just allowing us to come and gather at this midweek service.

32:50.000 --> 32:51.000
Lord, hear from your word.

32:51.000 --> 32:56.000
God, to kind of get refreshed and rejuvenated for the remainder of the week.

32:56.000 --> 32:59.000
Lord, thank you for all the many blessings that you provide for us.

32:59.000 --> 33:01.000
All the souls that we've been able to get saved this year.

33:01.000 --> 33:04.000
And God, I pray that you continue to bless our efforts and soul winning.

33:04.000 --> 33:10.000
God, we pray for those that are here on this list that are in need of health prayers.

33:10.000 --> 33:13.000
Lord, I just pray that you would have your hand of protection upon them.

33:13.000 --> 33:18.000
Help them to get through these difficulties, these ailments that they're dealing with.

33:18.000 --> 33:21.000
Lord, help us to be a blessing when we can to them.

33:21.000 --> 33:25.000
And we're thankful for just all the things that you do for us.

33:25.000 --> 33:28.000
The many blessings that you give us.

33:28.000 --> 33:33.000
God, we're thankful for the ladies in our church that are pregnant and that are expecting.

33:33.000 --> 33:36.000
God, I pray that you would be with each one of them.

33:36.000 --> 33:40.000
And Lord, again, we're just thankful for your son and salvation through him.

33:40.000 --> 33:43.000
We pray these things in your son's name. Amen.

33:43.000 --> 33:51.000
Alright, we'll go to our next song for the evening in your Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.

33:51.000 --> 33:53.000
Psalm 150.

33:53.000 --> 33:56.000
I don't know why I can not receive it.

33:56.000 --> 34:00.000
Psalm 150 in your special book should be in front of you.

34:00.000 --> 34:02.000
Psalm 150.

34:06.000 --> 34:11.000
Psalm 150.

34:11.000 --> 34:14.000
Let's sing it out now on that verse.

34:14.000 --> 34:21.000
Praise be the Lord! Praise God in his thanks to where he prays.

34:21.000 --> 34:29.000
And in the firmament of his power praise him for his mighty acts.

34:29.000 --> 34:34.000
Praise him according to his excellent greatness.

34:34.000 --> 34:40.000
Praise him with the sound of the trumpet.

34:40.000 --> 34:46.000
Praise him with the psaltery and heart.

34:46.000 --> 34:49.000
Praise him with the temporal index.

34:49.000 --> 34:54.000
Praise him with strength and serenity in the organ.

34:54.000 --> 35:00.000
Praise him upon the loud cymbals.

35:00.000 --> 35:06.000
Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

35:06.000 --> 35:11.000
Let everything that have breath praise the Lord.

35:11.000 --> 35:14.000
Praise he the Lord.

35:14.000 --> 35:17.000
Praise God the Father.

35:17.000 --> 35:21.000
Praise God the Son.

35:21.000 --> 35:26.000
Praise God the Holy Ghost.

35:26.000 --> 35:34.000
Praise God in three persons.

35:34.000 --> 35:36.000
Amen. Great singing this evening.

35:36.000 --> 35:38.000
At this time the offering plates will be passed around.

35:38.000 --> 35:43.000
You can turn your Bibles to fall along in the reading of God's word to Deuteronomy chapter 27.

35:43.000 --> 35:46.000
Deuteronomy chapter 27.

35:56.000 --> 35:58.000
Thank you.

36:26.000 --> 36:49.000
Deuteronomy chapter 27.

36:49.000 --> 36:51.000
The Bible reads.

37:19.000 --> 37:46.000
The Bible reads.

37:46.000 --> 38:11.000
The Bible reads.

38:11.000 --> 38:38.000
The Bible reads.

38:38.000 --> 39:05.000
The Bible reads.

39:05.000 --> 39:24.000
The Bible reads.

39:24.000 --> 39:40.000
The Bible reads.

39:40.000 --> 39:41.000
With that let us pray.

39:41.000 --> 39:43.000
Heavenly Father, thank you for this day.

39:43.000 --> 39:44.000
Thank you for allowing us to be in church.

39:44.000 --> 39:46.000
Thank you for this chapter of the Bible.

39:46.000 --> 39:47.000
Thank you for all the people that are getting saved.

39:47.000 --> 39:50.000
I pray that you bless Pastor Shelley, fill him with your Holy Spirit to preach unto us,

39:50.000 --> 39:53.000
help us to make changes in our lives to become better Christians.

39:53.000 --> 39:54.000
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

39:54.000 --> 39:55.000
Amen.

39:55.000 --> 39:56.000
Amen.

39:56.000 --> 40:00.000
Here in Deuteronomy 27 we're getting closer to the end of this particular book.

40:00.000 --> 40:06.000
The law is kind of wrapping up and giving the instructions for when they go into the promised land here.

40:06.000 --> 40:08.000
And Moses says here in verse 1,

40:08.000 --> 40:11.000
And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people saying,

40:11.000 --> 40:13.000
Keep all the commandments which I command you this day,

40:13.000 --> 40:16.000
And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan,

40:16.000 --> 40:19.000
And the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee,

40:19.000 --> 40:23.000
That thou shalt set thee up great stones and plaster them with plaster,

40:23.000 --> 40:28.000
And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law when thou art passed over,

40:28.000 --> 40:31.000
That thou mayest go in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee,

40:31.000 --> 40:35.000
A land that floweth of milk and honey, as the Lord thy God of thy fathers hath promised thee.

40:35.000 --> 40:38.000
Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan,

40:38.000 --> 40:43.000
That ye shall set up these stones which I command you this day in Mount Ebal,

40:43.000 --> 40:46.000
And thou shalt plaster them with plaster,

40:46.000 --> 40:49.000
And there shalt thou build an altar under the Lord thy God, an altar of stones,

40:49.000 --> 40:53.000
Thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.

40:53.000 --> 40:57.000
So they are to make altars of stones.

40:57.000 --> 41:06.000
They are to plaster them, but I believe it's specifically so that they can write the words of the law on these particular stones.

41:06.000 --> 41:08.000
But it does have a differentiation here.

41:08.000 --> 41:12.000
It says that they don't want any iron tool upon them.

41:12.000 --> 41:21.000
And I believe that you see a consistent theme that the altars that were set up in the Old Testament of stone were to not be of hewn stone.

41:21.000 --> 41:28.000
They didn't want to be crafted to where it looked like a stone that man had essentially put his works on it.

41:28.000 --> 41:33.000
And, you know, I believe that is specifically a spiritual understanding.

41:33.000 --> 41:39.000
Obviously, if you hew out stone and you make them all perfect and nice, they can stack really nice.

41:39.000 --> 41:41.000
They could look really pretty.

41:41.000 --> 41:48.000
But, you know, stones are typically rough, odd shapes, just kind of a rough looking structure.

41:48.000 --> 41:55.000
And I think the rough structure is to picture a spiritual aspect that we're picturing the sacrifice of God or the altar of God.

41:55.000 --> 41:58.000
And the ultimate picture is Jesus Christ dying on the cross.

41:58.000 --> 42:02.000
And it was not a beautiful picture. It was an ugly picture. It was a rough picture.

42:02.000 --> 42:08.000
And so, you know, when we think about the sacrifice of God, we want to look at the ugliness of the reality of it.

42:08.000 --> 42:15.000
And, you know, these rough stones are kind of picturing this aspect of that it wasn't a beautiful scene.

42:15.000 --> 42:21.000
It's not this ornate structure that just kind of this rough organic structure.

42:21.000 --> 42:28.000
And it's of God because the stones, of course, on the earth, you would look at them and this is stone looks the way it is or is the way it is because of God.

42:28.000 --> 42:35.000
God ordained natural processes and things that we see in our world, not from man,

42:35.000 --> 42:38.000
graving it and perfecting it and creating his own.

42:38.000 --> 42:43.000
The second way we could look at that is just how salvation itself is just not of man.

42:43.000 --> 42:48.000
Again, it's not of our works, but it's of faith in Jesus Christ.

42:48.000 --> 42:53.000
And so God doesn't want the sacrifice to be about man's work. It's about God.

42:53.000 --> 42:58.000
And so he doesn't want to lift up the tool upon it to add works.

42:58.000 --> 43:05.000
Of course, virtually every person in this world believes salvation is by faith and works.

43:05.000 --> 43:10.000
You know, I don't think there's really anybody that says it's works apart from faith.

43:10.000 --> 43:17.000
You know, so that's why sometimes when you go out and I'm talking to people, I'm like, hey, is it faith or faith and works?

43:17.000 --> 43:22.000
Because really, there isn't I don't think anybody that's like it's just only works. You don't even have to have faith. Right.

43:22.000 --> 43:25.000
Of course, they package in faith with the works.

43:25.000 --> 43:30.000
So it's like, OK, we have the stone. But then we're adding our works to it.

43:30.000 --> 43:34.000
But see, that would be rejected by God. You cannot have both.

43:34.000 --> 43:38.000
It's like, yeah, I acknowledge Jesus died on the cross, but it's also our works.

43:38.000 --> 43:42.000
It's also us taking our engraving tools and adding to it.

43:42.000 --> 43:46.000
Well, now it's a failure. Now it's going to be not received by the Lord.

43:46.000 --> 43:50.000
He's not going to have respect under your offering because that's not how you get into heaven.

43:50.000 --> 43:53.000
It's not faith plus its faith alone.

43:53.000 --> 44:01.000
And of course, this is just another picture of how God doesn't want them to simply put their mark on this particular stone.

44:01.000 --> 44:06.000
Man has no place in our salvation apart from receiving it.

44:06.000 --> 44:10.000
You know, we receive salvation by faith, but our mark is not on that.

44:10.000 --> 44:12.000
There's no glory for us to boast in.

44:12.000 --> 44:17.000
There's no works for us to add to. It's simply and wholly of Christ.

44:17.000 --> 44:23.000
If you think about what would happen for this to take place, you have a stone, right?

44:23.000 --> 44:28.000
In order for you to put your graving tool on it, what's going to happen?

44:28.000 --> 44:31.000
You're going to take some of the stone off, right?

44:31.000 --> 44:37.000
It's an odd shape, so you're going to take some of it off to take off the top and take off the sides.

44:37.000 --> 44:39.000
You make a nice little stone. But here's the thing.

44:39.000 --> 44:46.000
You're taking off some of the stone. When you add your works to the gospel, you're taking away from what Jesus Christ did.

44:46.000 --> 44:54.000
You have to remove Jesus to insert yourself and to try and polish it up and make it less about Christ and more about you.

44:54.000 --> 44:57.000
But no, it's wholly of Christ and none of you.

44:57.000 --> 45:07.000
And so that's why, in essence, we have to recognize these pictures are to illustrate spiritual truths and that we don't put our graving tool to the stone.

45:07.000 --> 45:14.000
We don't try to add our works to the gospel. We don't want to take off some of the rock, take away from what Jesus Christ did.

45:14.000 --> 45:18.000
And of course, the Bible will sometimes even allude to Jesus Christ as being that rock, right?

45:18.000 --> 45:21.000
Being that stone upon which our faith is built.

45:21.000 --> 45:26.000
He is that chief cornerstone. And it's not graven by man's device.

45:26.000 --> 45:30.000
It's not by man's effort. It's not by man's works.

45:30.000 --> 45:34.000
It's just simply us, you know, trusting what Christ did.

45:34.000 --> 45:41.000
The only thing that man had to do with that particular situation is that they crucified it, if anything.

45:41.000 --> 45:46.000
So, again, obviously, we take the stones and we put the altar there and we put the sacrifices on there.

45:46.000 --> 45:52.000
And that's what man did. Man put Christ on the cross and crucified him in his place.

45:52.000 --> 45:57.000
But it wasn't by our works that saved us. Our works killed him and slaughtered him.

45:57.000 --> 46:01.000
Our works did not save us or save him or save anyone.

46:01.000 --> 46:06.000
Our works don't do anything to help and aid in salvation or the sacrifice or the altar.

46:06.000 --> 46:11.000
So I believe that's why we see this particular illustration being there.

46:11.000 --> 46:16.000
Of course, the altar has the Word of God on it. And this could picture the law.

46:16.000 --> 46:22.000
So we think about what Christ did is he fulfilled the law. He was the sacrifice of the law.

46:22.000 --> 46:28.000
And he had to bear the curse of the law because at the end of the day, the law has a curse associated with it.

46:28.000 --> 46:33.000
That's a major component of this particular chapter. And the curse is to die and go to hell.

46:33.000 --> 46:37.000
If you break any of the commandments, you have now of the curse of the law upon you.

46:37.000 --> 46:41.000
You're under the law and you have to receive the punishment of the law, which is death and hell.

46:41.000 --> 46:50.000
And, of course, the sacrifices were to be slaughtered and then burnt on the altar as a picture of the death of Jesus Christ, him going to hell.

46:50.000 --> 46:52.000
But, of course, then we have the resurrection.

46:52.000 --> 46:58.000
Of course, they would also eat and then that would give them life as a picture of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

46:58.000 --> 47:05.000
So all these different little things that we think are just kind of random all have significant spiritual truths and elements to them.

47:05.000 --> 47:08.000
And these sacrifices are to point to Jesus Christ.

47:08.000 --> 47:10.000
Now it says here in verse 6,

47:22.000 --> 47:24.000
So again, this just adds to what we were talking about.

47:24.000 --> 47:26.000
There's two whole stones.

47:26.000 --> 47:32.000
So this is what we call the whole burnt offering in the sense that Jesus Christ was a whole offering.

47:32.000 --> 47:34.000
It wasn't just part of Jesus Christ.

47:34.000 --> 47:37.000
He truly died in every way, in every sense.

47:37.000 --> 47:42.000
Additionally, that Jesus Christ didn't pay for the sins of some people, but all people.

47:42.000 --> 47:45.000
He didn't pay for some sins. He paid for all sins.

47:45.000 --> 47:47.000
So we have the whole stone there.

47:47.000 --> 47:50.000
Of course, it's a peace offering. What is the peace?

47:50.000 --> 47:52.000
It gives us peace between God and man.

47:52.000 --> 47:57.000
The only way we have peace is through the Lord Jesus Christ, through his sacrifice, through his blood.

47:57.000 --> 48:01.000
And then we get life through this sacrifice by them eating.

48:01.000 --> 48:11.000
They get to rejoice in the Lord and by us receiving Jesus Christ and believing on him, we have rejoicing in our salvation and in the eternal life that God has given unto us.

48:11.000 --> 48:15.000
And so all of these elements are taking place in the sacrifice.

48:15.000 --> 48:16.000
Verse 8,

48:16.000 --> 48:21.000
I like that it's all the words.

48:21.000 --> 48:31.000
Notice again that any law that's broken, any sin would cause you to receive this consequence, receive this punishment.

48:31.000 --> 48:36.000
That's why the Bible says that not only murderers are deserving of hell, but even liars.

48:36.000 --> 48:40.000
All liars deserve the punishment of hell.

48:41.000 --> 48:47.000
There's many people that struggle with the concept or idea that any sin would cause someone to deserve hell.

48:47.000 --> 48:49.000
But that's the reality. That's what the Bible teaches.

48:49.000 --> 48:51.000
That is the true curse of the law.

48:51.000 --> 48:55.000
That isn't to say that some sins aren't worse than others.

48:55.000 --> 48:58.000
And of course, that's another heresy that people will come up with.

48:58.000 --> 49:04.000
Obviously, some sins are worse than others, but all sins take you to the same ultimate place, hell.

49:04.000 --> 49:09.000
While some sins may send you to the lowest parts of hell, you're still in hell, in the upper hell.

49:09.000 --> 49:10.000
It's not a great place.

49:10.000 --> 49:13.000
There's no paradise in the center of the earth.

49:13.000 --> 49:14.000
It's not hollow.

49:14.000 --> 49:16.000
You're not going to be annihilated.

49:16.000 --> 49:22.000
You will be simply burning for all of eternity, everlasting burnings.

49:22.000 --> 49:25.000
The Bible says where there worm, die not.

49:25.000 --> 49:31.000
So, you know, the word death is a really interesting word because it's basically a contextual word.

49:31.000 --> 49:35.000
In some senses, you could say death is just simply separation from body and spirit.

49:36.000 --> 49:40.000
Everyone will eventually go through that in a sense.

49:40.000 --> 49:41.000
I guess you could argue those raptured.

49:41.000 --> 49:44.000
They have a moment where they're at least changed.

49:44.000 --> 49:47.000
But even the saved will die at some point.

49:47.000 --> 49:50.000
And we will separate it from body, soul and spirit.

49:50.000 --> 49:52.000
The soul and spirit will be separated from the body.

49:52.000 --> 49:54.000
That could be a definition of death.

49:54.000 --> 49:58.000
Another definition of death is simply the idea of going to hell.

49:58.000 --> 50:04.000
The Bible often describes death as a state of being, hell being its location.

50:04.000 --> 50:10.000
Another aspect, though, would be simply what we would consider like an annihilation or a ceasing to exist.

50:10.000 --> 50:15.000
And in the context of the Bible saying their worm, die, if not, it's not saying that they're not in hell.

50:16.000 --> 50:19.000
It's saying that they will not cease to exist.

50:19.000 --> 50:23.000
They will remain an eternal conscious torment forever.

50:23.000 --> 50:27.000
The smoke of their torment, a synoth up forever and ever.

50:27.000 --> 50:29.000
It doesn't say the smoke of their ashes.

50:29.000 --> 50:31.000
It doesn't say the smoke of their destruction.

50:31.000 --> 50:33.000
It says the smoke of their torment.

50:33.000 --> 50:34.000
The smoke of their torment.

50:34.000 --> 50:37.000
There's going to be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

50:37.000 --> 50:39.000
It's everlasting destruction.

50:39.000 --> 50:44.000
That's the worst part about hell because you have to understand that everything about hell is the worst thing imaginable.

50:44.000 --> 50:48.000
God already decided what the worst punishment could possibly be.

50:48.000 --> 50:50.000
And that is hell.

50:50.000 --> 50:53.000
An eternal state of consciousness.

50:53.000 --> 51:00.000
An eternal state of suffering, of darkness, of weeping, gnashing of teeth, burning.

51:00.000 --> 51:05.000
Just just regret, remorse, no rest day or night.

51:05.000 --> 51:12.000
Just every element of possible torture and suffering and woe that could ever be realized.

51:12.000 --> 51:14.000
God has already designated that.

51:14.000 --> 51:24.000
And this is what just boggles my mind and just irritates me so much is when Christians will argue with me and say, God loves the people in hell.

51:27.000 --> 51:28.000
I'm not even joking.

51:28.000 --> 51:34.000
This is like a real thing where just tons of Christians will tell me God still loves them.

51:34.000 --> 51:36.000
God is loving them.

51:36.000 --> 51:40.000
It's they just want to be in hell so much.

51:40.000 --> 51:46.000
It's like I'm pretty sure we read about a guy in the Bible that's in hell and he doesn't want to be there.

51:46.000 --> 51:49.000
His name, it's the rich man, right?

51:49.000 --> 51:55.000
We just always think of like Lazarus, you know, alter ego or, you know, nemesis or something.

51:55.000 --> 52:02.000
But Lazarus, the poor guy, he was kind of the opposite of this rich guy in a particular story.

52:02.000 --> 52:06.000
And he fared sumptuously every single day.

52:06.000 --> 52:09.000
But then when he died, he lift up his eyes in hell.

52:09.000 --> 52:13.000
And the Bible says that he wanted to escape.

52:13.000 --> 52:15.000
He doesn't want to be there.

52:15.000 --> 52:16.000
He doesn't like the sufferings.

52:16.000 --> 52:18.000
He's wishing for water.

52:18.000 --> 52:20.000
He's not sitting here thinking like this is great.

52:20.000 --> 52:21.000
I love this.

52:21.000 --> 52:24.000
I can't I can't imagine life without this.

52:24.000 --> 52:25.000
No, he hates every moment of it.

52:25.000 --> 52:30.000
In fact, he even has a desire for other people just not even go there.

52:30.000 --> 52:35.000
Even just even if he can't escape, he doesn't want even other people to go there,

52:35.000 --> 52:39.000
which tells me that you're going to have some level of memory even in hell.

52:39.000 --> 52:42.000
I mean, he recognizes Lazarus.

52:42.000 --> 52:46.000
He even in some ways you could argue has supernatural revelation

52:46.000 --> 52:49.000
because he can automatically distinguish who Abraham is.

52:49.000 --> 52:54.000
He can just see Abraham, recognize Abraham, recognize his Lazarus.

52:54.000 --> 52:55.000
I don't know how this works.

52:55.000 --> 52:56.000
Maybe it was a miracle.

52:56.000 --> 52:57.000
I don't know.

52:57.000 --> 53:02.000
But in some way, in some vehicle, he was able to recognize Abraham.

53:02.000 --> 53:04.000
He remembers his brethren.

53:04.000 --> 53:07.000
He wishes for his brethren not to go there.

53:07.000 --> 53:11.000
And just the thought of them even going in hell is a level of punishment,

53:11.000 --> 53:14.000
is a level of suffering that hell entails.

53:14.000 --> 53:18.000
But for people to sit here and claim, no, God loves those people.

53:18.000 --> 53:19.000
It's just crazy.

53:19.000 --> 53:25.000
There's this over emphasis on the word love in non-denominational Christianity

53:25.000 --> 53:27.000
and in many forms of Christianity today

53:27.000 --> 53:32.000
where they just want to abstract God away from the word hate to the point of extremity.

53:32.000 --> 53:35.000
Whereas the Bible will clearly have God hating people.

53:35.000 --> 53:38.000
I mean, the Bible just says he's angry with the wicked every day.

53:38.000 --> 53:41.000
The Bible talks about how he hates the bloody and deceitful man

53:41.000 --> 53:43.000
or abhors the bloody and deceitful man.

53:43.000 --> 53:45.000
He hates the workers of iniquity.

53:45.000 --> 53:47.000
The Bible even says in the New Testament specifically,

53:47.000 --> 53:50.000
Jacob have I loved and Esau have I hated.

53:50.000 --> 53:51.000
How do they reconcile these verses?

53:51.000 --> 53:53.000
They just ignore them.

53:53.000 --> 53:56.000
They try to use weird ideas to excuse it.

53:56.000 --> 54:01.000
Look, the Bible says for God so loved with a D at the end.

54:01.000 --> 54:02.000
Loved.

54:02.000 --> 54:06.000
Loved because it stops at some point for some people.

54:06.000 --> 54:11.000
Unfortunately, the vast majority of creation it will have stopped for.

54:11.000 --> 54:16.000
Now, again, it doesn't stop in the sense that he did anything actively.

54:16.000 --> 54:19.000
It's just he will love them no more, as the Bible describes it

54:19.000 --> 54:23.000
in the sense that the love act was Jesus dying on the cross for them.

54:23.000 --> 54:26.000
And so he did love them at some point.

54:26.000 --> 54:30.000
God loved every single person at some point.

54:30.000 --> 54:32.000
But there is a point of rejection.

54:32.000 --> 54:36.000
There's a point of reprobation where people are no longer loved by God.

54:36.000 --> 54:40.000
And it can even happen before they die.

54:40.000 --> 54:43.000
The Bible teaches there are some people alive today

54:43.000 --> 54:45.000
that God has already given up on.

54:45.000 --> 54:47.000
He's given over.

54:47.000 --> 54:49.000
He's already reprobated.

54:49.000 --> 54:51.000
And they are destined for hell.

54:51.000 --> 54:53.000
That's why Jesus is even saying to the Pharisees,

54:53.000 --> 54:56.000
how can you escape the damnation of hell?

54:56.000 --> 54:58.000
That's why he's saying that they're sons of the devil.

54:58.000 --> 55:03.000
That's why he tells them that they're making people proselytes of hell.

55:03.000 --> 55:05.000
He calls them the child of hell.

55:05.000 --> 55:08.000
He's not saying this to try and get them saved.

55:08.000 --> 55:11.000
He's just recognizing they're already reprobate.

55:11.000 --> 55:15.000
The Bible is recognizing that there's some people in the book of Jude

55:15.000 --> 55:19.000
that are already damned, they're already condemned.

55:19.000 --> 55:21.000
They're going to go to hell.

55:21.000 --> 55:25.000
Of course, we have people taking out the Word of God

55:25.000 --> 55:27.000
as a warning in Revelation chapter 22.

55:27.000 --> 55:30.000
And he says, hey, they're taking their name out of the book of life.

55:30.000 --> 55:33.000
That they're just doomed, they're damned.

55:33.000 --> 55:35.000
It's over for them.

55:35.000 --> 55:38.000
God even tells Jeremiah and other prophets at times,

55:38.000 --> 55:40.000
just don't even pray for these people.

55:40.000 --> 55:46.000
There are certain people that are just cursed and doomed and damned to hell.

55:46.000 --> 55:48.000
And he does not love them anymore.

55:48.000 --> 55:49.000
He hates them.

55:49.000 --> 55:52.000
They will die and they will go to hell.

55:52.000 --> 55:56.000
We have to understand this is such an extreme punishment.

55:56.000 --> 55:58.000
This is an extreme punishment.

55:58.000 --> 56:00.000
But it's how God reacts.

56:00.000 --> 56:01.000
God is a God of extremes.

56:01.000 --> 56:03.000
There's heaven and there's hell.

56:03.000 --> 56:06.000
And the only way to satisfy that punishment

56:06.000 --> 56:08.000
was for someone else to take our place.

56:08.000 --> 56:09.000
And that's what Jesus did.

56:09.000 --> 56:12.000
And Jesus was forsaken of his own father.

56:12.000 --> 56:15.000
I heard somebody say, well, this is impossible.

56:15.000 --> 56:18.000
You couldn't have Jesus actually being forsaken by his own father.

56:18.000 --> 56:21.000
He's part of the Godhead.

56:21.000 --> 56:23.000
How can God die?

56:23.000 --> 56:25.000
How could one part of the Godhead, you know,

56:25.000 --> 56:27.000
forsake the other part of the Godhead?

56:27.000 --> 56:29.000
Well, that's Scripture.

56:29.000 --> 56:32.000
Sorry you don't like that version of the Trinity

56:32.000 --> 56:34.000
since you're a modalist or whatever.

56:34.000 --> 56:36.000
And again, this comes from Catholic thinking,

56:36.000 --> 56:40.000
Orthodox thinking, who they believe in divine simplicity.

56:40.000 --> 56:43.000
And therefore they believe that Jesus couldn't really die

56:43.000 --> 56:45.000
and he didn't really suffer.

56:45.000 --> 56:49.000
And that when he went to hell, he was just having like a,

56:49.000 --> 56:52.000
you know, just kind of a party, his own little party

56:52.000 --> 56:54.000
where he's just dancing around, just saying like,

56:54.000 --> 56:56.000
ha ha, I got you guys or whatever.

56:56.000 --> 56:58.000
I mean, I don't know.

56:58.000 --> 57:01.000
There's this doctrine called the harrowing of hell

57:01.000 --> 57:06.000
or this little harrowing of Hades, which is just hell, OK?

57:06.000 --> 57:09.000
Whereas just basically Jesus was just there preaching to people

57:09.000 --> 57:11.000
and rescuing people or whatever nonsense

57:11.000 --> 57:13.000
that they want to believe.

57:13.000 --> 57:15.000
No, no, Jesus was there suffering.

57:15.000 --> 57:17.000
Jesus was there suffering for us.

57:17.000 --> 57:19.000
That's why we have the burnt sacrifice.

57:19.000 --> 57:21.000
Sacrifice isn't enjoying that burning.

57:21.000 --> 57:23.000
It's dead, I get it.

57:23.000 --> 57:25.000
But it's not like having a good old time

57:25.000 --> 57:27.000
or something like that.

57:27.000 --> 57:29.000
And of course, the Bible talks about Jesus Christ,

57:29.000 --> 57:32.000
you know, saying the only thing that was giving him any hope

57:32.000 --> 57:34.000
is that he would not be left there.

57:34.000 --> 57:36.000
Not that he was sitting here like, oh, no big deal

57:36.000 --> 57:38.000
or I'm going to have a good time

57:38.000 --> 57:40.000
or this is kind of a quick fun trip or something like that.

57:40.000 --> 57:42.000
No, that he actually suffered for us.

57:42.000 --> 57:45.000
You know, in the parallel passage of Jonah,

57:45.000 --> 57:47.000
which Jesus brings up, he says,

57:47.000 --> 57:49.000
out of the belly of hell cried I.

57:49.000 --> 57:53.000
He's not saying like, you know, Jonah wasn't there.

57:53.000 --> 57:56.000
Jonah's in the belly of a whale.

57:56.000 --> 57:59.000
Jesus is in hell.

57:59.000 --> 58:01.000
And it says in mine affliction.

58:01.000 --> 58:04.000
He's not saying like, oh, I'm having such a good time.

58:04.000 --> 58:06.000
He's suffering.

58:06.000 --> 58:08.000
He's being afflicted.

58:08.000 --> 58:11.000
Acts chapter number two also talks about how

58:11.000 --> 58:14.000
he was suffering affliction and pain

58:14.000 --> 58:16.000
and that it was not relieved until he was resurrected.

58:16.000 --> 58:18.000
The resurrection is when,

58:18.000 --> 58:20.000
and then now death has no more dominion over him.

58:20.000 --> 58:24.000
Death has no more, he can no longer die.

58:24.000 --> 58:26.000
But how does that verse even make sense

58:26.000 --> 58:28.000
if he could never die in the first place?

58:28.000 --> 58:30.000
Death actually had dominion over him.

58:30.000 --> 58:32.000
And how could he be risen from the dead if he didn't die?

58:32.000 --> 58:35.000
And then if it wasn't God, then who was it?

58:35.000 --> 58:39.000
And then now it's like you just have these weird theological issues.

58:39.000 --> 58:42.000
Look, I get that there's not very many churches

58:42.000 --> 58:45.000
that want to teach that Jesus Christ died on the cross,

58:45.000 --> 58:48.000
went to hell, suffered and was risen again.

58:48.000 --> 58:50.000
But that's just what the text says.

58:50.000 --> 58:52.000
That's what the Bible teaches.

58:52.000 --> 58:57.000
When I preach the Gospel, I explain that every single time.

58:57.000 --> 59:02.000
And I mean almost never has anybody gotten mad at me about that.

59:02.000 --> 59:05.000
I can't even remember a time.

59:05.000 --> 59:08.000
But look, lots of churches, lots of pastors, lots of leaders,

59:08.000 --> 59:10.000
they will reject this doctrine.

59:10.000 --> 59:11.000
They get mad at this doctrine.

59:11.000 --> 59:13.000
They don't like this particular doctrine.

59:13.000 --> 59:17.000
But it goes to show, I mean, there's really a curse that comes from God.

59:17.000 --> 59:19.000
What is that curse? It's death and hell.

59:19.000 --> 59:23.000
And that was a payment that really had to be satisfied by Jesus.

59:23.000 --> 59:27.000
And if it really happened, why would I want to take away from it?

59:27.000 --> 59:30.000
They'll say, oh, well, it's not as emphasized as much as the cross.

59:30.000 --> 59:35.000
However, that just depends on the context upon which you're applying that standard

59:35.000 --> 59:38.000
because I could argue that there's way more burnt offerings in the Bible

59:38.000 --> 59:41.000
than there is mentions of the cross.

59:41.000 --> 59:46.000
There's far more mentions of the burnt offering than there is of the cross.

59:46.000 --> 59:48.000
Now, does that take away from the cross?

59:48.000 --> 59:52.000
No. Does the New Testament emphasize the cross more?

59:52.000 --> 59:54.000
Yes, I would argue that it does.

59:54.000 --> 59:56.000
And if someone emphasized the cross, I'm not mad at them.

59:56.000 --> 59:59.000
I'm not going to say that they're doing anything wrong.

59:59.000 --> 01:00:02.000
But to try and act like this is not taught in the Bible

01:00:02.000 --> 01:00:07.000
or is not alluded to or doesn't have much relevance would be fallacious as well.

01:00:07.000 --> 01:00:10.000
The Old Testament sacrifices are a picture of the whole thing.

01:00:10.000 --> 01:00:15.000
And of course, these burnt offerings are a big picture of what Jesus Christ did for us.

01:00:15.000 --> 01:00:17.000
And that's what gives us peace.

01:00:17.000 --> 01:00:21.000
What gives us peace is the whole package, not just one thing.

01:00:21.000 --> 01:00:24.000
Jesus not only died, he went to hell.

01:00:24.000 --> 01:00:27.000
Not only did he go to hell, he rose again from the dead.

01:00:27.000 --> 01:00:29.000
I mean, he says he has the keys of hell and of death.

01:00:29.000 --> 01:00:31.000
Don't you think that's important?

01:00:31.000 --> 01:00:34.000
How would he have the keys of hell and of death if he never went there?

01:00:34.000 --> 01:00:36.000
If he only died on the cross?

01:00:36.000 --> 01:00:38.000
If he died on the cross and immediately went to heaven

01:00:38.000 --> 01:00:41.000
or immediately popped his eyes back open,

01:00:41.000 --> 01:00:44.000
where does he get the keys of hell and of death?

01:00:44.000 --> 01:00:47.000
And arguably, if he just popped his eyes open right again,

01:00:47.000 --> 01:00:49.000
wouldn't people then say he never died?

01:00:49.000 --> 01:00:52.000
I mean, there's already people that say like maybe he didn't really die.

01:00:52.000 --> 01:00:54.000
I mean, there's that theory out there that's weird.

01:00:54.000 --> 01:00:57.000
It's like usually in the minds of atheists or something.

01:00:57.000 --> 01:01:01.000
But let alone if he just died and split second just woke up again,

01:01:01.000 --> 01:01:04.000
people would say, oh, he never really died.

01:01:04.000 --> 01:01:06.000
No, he was dead for three days and three nights.

01:01:06.000 --> 01:01:10.000
To prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, he really died.

01:01:10.000 --> 01:01:12.000
And he really tasted death.

01:01:12.000 --> 01:01:13.000
What does taste mean?

01:01:13.000 --> 01:01:14.000
It's like a short duration.

01:01:14.000 --> 01:01:18.000
He really experienced what true death is, which would be suffering in hell.

01:01:18.000 --> 01:01:21.000
And because of that, we can have peace with God.

01:01:21.000 --> 01:01:24.000
And God can be just for all of eternity.

01:01:24.000 --> 01:01:25.000
He can say, you know what?

01:01:25.000 --> 01:01:28.000
Someone took their place in hell and it was my son.

01:01:28.000 --> 01:01:31.000
And he didn't deserve to go there so that we don't have to go there now.

01:01:31.000 --> 01:01:33.000
Now, let's keep reading.

01:01:33.000 --> 01:01:35.000
It says in verse number nine,

01:01:35.000 --> 01:01:37.000
And Moses and the priests, the Levites spake unto Israel,

01:01:37.000 --> 01:01:39.000
saying, Take heed and hearken, O Israel.

01:01:39.000 --> 01:01:42.000
This day thou art become the people of the Lord thy God.

01:01:42.000 --> 01:01:44.000
Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the Lord thy God

01:01:44.000 --> 01:01:47.000
and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

01:01:47.000 --> 01:01:49.000
And Moses charged the people the same day,

01:01:49.000 --> 01:01:52.000
saying, These shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people

01:01:52.000 --> 01:01:55.000
when you come over Jordan, Simeon, and Levi, and Judah,

01:01:55.000 --> 01:01:57.000
and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.

01:01:57.000 --> 01:02:01.000
And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal to curse Reuben, Gad, and Asher,

01:02:01.000 --> 01:02:03.000
and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

01:02:03.000 --> 01:02:06.000
Now, this is really interesting, but they stand on two mountains.

01:02:06.000 --> 01:02:08.000
It's kind of like split one section of the mountain.

01:02:08.000 --> 01:02:11.000
One section of tribe over here, another section over there.

01:02:11.000 --> 01:02:13.000
One's supposed to be the blessing mountain,

01:02:13.000 --> 01:02:15.000
the other one is the cursing mountain.

01:02:15.000 --> 01:02:18.000
Some interesting anecdotes.

01:02:18.000 --> 01:02:20.000
It's like you kind of look at the lists,

01:02:20.000 --> 01:02:24.000
and it's kind of interesting because it's like one side kind of seems to be the side

01:02:24.000 --> 01:02:25.000
that was blessed in general,

01:02:25.000 --> 01:02:28.000
and the other side kind of seems to be the side that wasn't blessed in general.

01:02:28.000 --> 01:02:31.000
I mean, if you were to try and just think about these tribes,

01:02:31.000 --> 01:02:37.000
it's like, well, Judah is obviously the tribe that's going to give us the Lord Jesus Christ.

01:02:37.000 --> 01:02:39.000
And it was blessed.

01:02:39.000 --> 01:02:43.000
We see Benjamin specifically also gets to be a part of Judah.

01:02:43.000 --> 01:02:45.000
We talk about the kings.

01:02:45.000 --> 01:02:49.000
Well, first king comes from the tribe of Benjamin, King Saul.

01:02:49.000 --> 01:02:54.000
Then, of course, you have the rest of the lineage coming from Judah afterwards.

01:02:54.000 --> 01:02:55.000
You think about Levi.

01:02:55.000 --> 01:02:59.000
Levi is the Levitical priesthood where they're going to be, you know,

01:02:59.000 --> 01:03:02.000
basically pursuing God, serving God.

01:03:02.000 --> 01:03:07.000
You look at the next list, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zabulun, Dan, and Nephla.

01:03:07.000 --> 01:03:08.000
These are kind of the rougher tribes.

01:03:08.000 --> 01:03:12.000
There's some of the tribes that typically go, you know, out.

01:03:12.000 --> 01:03:16.000
They just get scattered, diminished.

01:03:16.000 --> 01:03:19.000
They just go in, mix them with the heathen much quicker.

01:03:19.000 --> 01:03:21.000
They're on the north side.

01:03:21.000 --> 01:03:23.000
These other tribes are on the south side,

01:03:23.000 --> 01:03:27.000
and they both kind of represent those particular things as well.

01:03:27.000 --> 01:03:29.000
There's a lot of parallels here,

01:03:29.000 --> 01:03:33.000
but I guess, you know, what I kind of thought of is I also think about Genesis

01:03:33.000 --> 01:03:36.000
because in Genesis, at the end of the book,

01:03:36.000 --> 01:03:42.000
you have Jacob or Israel giving these like proclamations about all the tribes,

01:03:42.000 --> 01:03:47.000
and he kind of just is forecasting and prophesying about what's going to happen to these tribes,

01:03:47.000 --> 01:03:52.000
and he already basically dictates like, hey, Judah, you're going to be great,

01:03:52.000 --> 01:03:56.000
and he talks bad about Reuben and how Reuben's going to be diminished

01:03:56.000 --> 01:04:02.000
and poorly, you know, execute things because he's going to be unstable as water

01:04:02.000 --> 01:04:04.000
because he went under his father's couch.

01:04:04.000 --> 01:04:05.000
There's all these different proclamations.

01:04:05.000 --> 01:04:11.000
But what's interesting, again, when he gave that proclamation to right now,

01:04:11.000 --> 01:04:14.000
we're talking 430 years, basically.

01:04:14.000 --> 01:04:17.000
More or less, I get that there could have been a little bit of time that he was there

01:04:17.000 --> 01:04:19.000
from the time he actually gave this declaration,

01:04:19.000 --> 01:04:22.000
but around 400-something years later,

01:04:22.000 --> 01:04:26.000
plus I guess you could then add the other 40 on top that have been wandering in the wilderness.

01:04:26.000 --> 01:04:28.000
So it's probably back to the 430.

01:04:28.000 --> 01:04:31.000
It's probably somewhere around 450 years later or something,

01:04:31.000 --> 01:04:34.000
or who knows what the exact timeline is,

01:04:34.000 --> 01:04:39.000
but something like 450 years later, it's the same story.

01:04:39.000 --> 01:04:42.000
Why? Because God's prophecies are always true.

01:04:42.000 --> 01:04:46.000
He can say 450 years before they're even a tribe,

01:04:46.000 --> 01:04:48.000
hey, y'all are going to be kind of a cursed people,

01:04:48.000 --> 01:04:50.000
then they're going into the promised land,

01:04:50.000 --> 01:04:53.000
and then yeah, they're kind of a cursed people.

01:04:53.000 --> 01:04:56.000
Reuben especially is just not one of the better tribes.

01:04:56.000 --> 01:04:59.000
It's not used of God as much.

01:04:59.000 --> 01:05:01.000
Now that's not to say there aren't some good characters

01:05:01.000 --> 01:05:04.000
mixed in with these cursed tribes.

01:05:04.000 --> 01:05:07.000
There are some people that come out of these that are used,

01:05:07.000 --> 01:05:12.000
and again, I'm not saying that everybody in these tribes is bad or something,

01:05:12.000 --> 01:05:16.000
but you kind of see the general blessing and cursing on these tribes.

01:05:17.000 --> 01:05:21.000
One thing that I think is interesting about this is it almost just seems like,

01:05:21.000 --> 01:05:26.000
it's almost like God grading on a curve a little bit or something,

01:05:26.000 --> 01:05:30.000
because in the sense we have to understand that no one keeps the law perfectly.

01:05:30.000 --> 01:05:33.000
There's not a just man upon earth that doeth good and sineth not.

01:05:33.000 --> 01:05:36.000
And some essence is we're all going to fall short,

01:05:36.000 --> 01:05:39.000
we're all going to sin, we're all going to make mistakes,

01:05:39.000 --> 01:05:45.000
but it just seems like people, people groups, tribes, nations,

01:05:45.000 --> 01:05:49.000
it's almost like they kind of are either on blessing mode or curse mode.

01:05:49.000 --> 01:05:50.000
You kind of notice that?

01:05:50.000 --> 01:05:52.000
And it's almost like these mountains,

01:05:52.000 --> 01:05:54.000
it's like these tribes are kind of on blessing mode,

01:05:54.000 --> 01:05:58.000
and these tribes are kind of on curse mode in general.

01:05:58.000 --> 01:06:02.000
And again, that's why I think it's important to do the right thing

01:06:02.000 --> 01:06:04.000
so you can stay kind of in blessing mode.

01:06:04.000 --> 01:06:07.000
Because at the end of the day, it's like why come to church?

01:06:07.000 --> 01:06:09.000
Why go to church three times a week?

01:06:09.000 --> 01:06:13.000
Look, it's not like we in this room don't sin.

01:06:13.000 --> 01:06:18.000
It's not like people that don't go to church versus us don't sin or whatever.

01:06:18.000 --> 01:06:20.000
It's not like we don't have problems.

01:06:20.000 --> 01:06:22.000
It's not like there isn't issues.

01:06:22.000 --> 01:06:25.000
You know, some people say, oh, I don't go to church because of hypocrites.

01:06:25.000 --> 01:06:28.000
Well, join the club because you're a hypocrite too and everybody's a hypocrite.

01:06:28.000 --> 01:06:29.000
Okay?

01:06:29.000 --> 01:06:31.000
At the end of the day, no one's perfect, no one's right,

01:06:31.000 --> 01:06:36.000
but it just seems like people that are going to church three times a week,

01:06:36.000 --> 01:06:40.000
reading the Bible, going so many, it's like they're kind of in blessed mode.

01:06:40.000 --> 01:06:43.000
And people that get out of church and get backslidden and not whatever,

01:06:43.000 --> 01:06:47.000
they're kind of on curse mode and a general observation.

01:06:47.000 --> 01:06:51.000
Again, this is anecdotal, but it's like which mountain do you really want to stand on?

01:06:51.000 --> 01:06:54.000
Do you want to stand on the mountain where God's basically pouring out His blessings,

01:06:54.000 --> 01:06:57.000
or do you want to stand on the mountain where He's pouring out His cursings?

01:06:57.000 --> 01:07:03.000
Now again, even in general, does that mean that everything is always working out for Judah?

01:07:03.000 --> 01:07:05.000
Does that mean that everything always goes well for Judah

01:07:05.000 --> 01:07:07.000
or they don't have problems or God doesn't deal with them?

01:07:07.000 --> 01:07:08.000
No.

01:07:08.000 --> 01:07:12.000
They still have problems, they still get dealt with, they still have issues.

01:07:12.000 --> 01:07:15.000
Does that mean that everything's only ever negative for the other side?

01:07:15.000 --> 01:07:16.000
No.

01:07:16.000 --> 01:07:21.000
And again, that's why some people try to justify their position.

01:07:21.000 --> 01:07:29.000
They get backslidden out of church and they try to say like all the bad stuff happening to them is not because of that.

01:07:29.000 --> 01:07:32.000
And then they'll be like, yeah, but what about this one good thing that happened or something?

01:07:32.000 --> 01:07:37.000
And then it's just like they'll look at the other side and even though they're generally blessed,

01:07:37.000 --> 01:07:44.000
they'll point out, well, but look at this one bad thing that happened to you or look at this one setback or look at this one guy or whatever.

01:07:44.000 --> 01:07:45.000
And it's like, sure.

01:07:45.000 --> 01:07:47.000
But sometimes we just have to look at the big picture.

01:07:47.000 --> 01:07:53.000
And when we just stand back, we just notice, hey, there's a bunch of people over here on Mount Gerizim

01:07:53.000 --> 01:07:56.000
and they're just, I mean, just blessed in general.

01:07:56.000 --> 01:08:01.000
And then we're kind of looking at this mountain over here and they're just kind of like cursed in general.

01:08:01.000 --> 01:08:04.000
And you say, well, that seems anecdotal.

01:08:04.000 --> 01:08:07.000
OK, well, but that's just reality.

01:08:07.000 --> 01:08:10.000
Let's just let's just play this game with anything.

01:08:10.000 --> 01:08:14.000
Let's just play this game with like, I don't know, how about nations in the world?

01:08:14.000 --> 01:08:19.000
You just kind of look at America and then you just kind of look at, I don't know, North Korea.

01:08:19.000 --> 01:08:25.000
And you're just kind of like, hey, one of these these nations doesn't seem like the same.

01:08:25.000 --> 01:08:27.000
You look at nations that have false religion.

01:08:27.000 --> 01:08:28.000
You look at African nations.

01:08:28.000 --> 01:08:30.000
You look at the Middle East.

01:08:30.000 --> 01:08:33.000
You look at a lot of areas where they don't have biblical Christianity.

01:08:33.000 --> 01:08:36.000
And it doesn't seem like they're standing on Mount Gerizim.

01:08:36.000 --> 01:08:39.000
Seems like they're standing on Mount Ebal.

01:08:39.000 --> 01:08:47.000
Now, does that mean that everything that happens in America, it's only blessing, only good, only positive, no negative?

01:08:47.000 --> 01:08:48.000
There's no problems.

01:08:48.000 --> 01:08:49.000
No, we're not saying that.

01:08:49.000 --> 01:08:54.000
Are we saying that over here that nothing good ever happens in Africa or in these other parts of the world or blah, blah, blah?

01:08:54.000 --> 01:08:56.000
No, no, no, not saying that either.

01:08:56.000 --> 01:08:59.000
We're just trying to take the mountaintop view here.

01:08:59.000 --> 01:09:02.000
We're just trying to look and we're trying to observe.

01:09:02.000 --> 01:09:06.000
Hey, this mountain seems a lot better than this mountain.

01:09:06.000 --> 01:09:12.000
And it's like Levi, Judah and Benjamin seem way better than Ruben and Dan and Naphtali.

01:09:12.000 --> 01:09:18.000
And then people get really mad like, how dare you compare this mountain to that mountain?

01:09:18.000 --> 01:09:21.000
Or how how dare you compare this church to that church?

01:09:22.000 --> 01:09:33.000
And it's just like, well, but if we look at the mountaintop view, you know, if we look at the Catholic Church, I don't put it in the Gerizim, you know, section.

01:09:33.000 --> 01:09:35.000
The Catholic Church is in the Ebal for me.

01:09:35.000 --> 01:09:37.000
They're cursed in general.

01:09:37.000 --> 01:09:42.000
Now, does that mean there's never been a good thing that's ever happened to a Catholic or Catholics never done a good thing?

01:09:42.000 --> 01:09:47.000
No, I'm not saying that we're just looking at the mountaintop view, folks.

01:09:47.000 --> 01:09:56.000
And again, you look at Baptist, you look at independent fundamental Baptist, you look at King James only us, you look at people that are so winning, man, they're just standing on Mount Gerizim.

01:09:56.000 --> 01:10:05.000
And I get that some people say like, oh, these are logical fallacies or, you know, you know, it's interesting about logical fallacies is they can apply to anything you say ever.

01:10:08.000 --> 01:10:16.000
I even asked a I and it agreed with me and said, yes, technically you could apply a logical fallacy to literally every argument.

01:10:16.000 --> 01:10:17.000
That's ever made.

01:10:17.000 --> 01:10:21.000
Because at some point, they have some quote argument against everything.

01:10:21.000 --> 01:10:23.000
All they're doing is just explaining what you're doing.

01:10:23.000 --> 01:10:24.000
Doesn't mean it's bad.

01:10:24.000 --> 01:10:28.000
One of the logical files they have is appeal to authority.

01:10:29.000 --> 01:10:34.000
So anytime you just quote the Bible, oh, that's a logical fallacy appeal to authority.

01:10:34.000 --> 01:10:38.000
I mean, you could appeal to God himself and they'd be like logical fallacy appeal to God.

01:10:38.000 --> 01:10:40.000
Well, couldn't God just be right?

01:10:40.000 --> 01:10:43.000
Look, it's not a logical fallacy just to appeal to authority.

01:10:43.000 --> 01:10:49.000
What we have to understand is that sometimes an argument may not be perfectly sound.

01:10:49.000 --> 01:10:50.000
Right.

01:10:50.000 --> 01:10:53.000
Because I could say, hey, well, my dad said this.

01:10:53.000 --> 01:10:56.000
Well, dad might not always be right.

01:10:56.000 --> 01:10:57.000
So it could be flawed.

01:10:57.000 --> 01:11:03.000
The flaw is that just because dad said it doesn't mean it's always right.

01:11:03.000 --> 01:11:04.000
But here's the thing.

01:11:04.000 --> 01:11:07.000
Appealing to God is always right.

01:11:07.000 --> 01:11:12.000
So you can't use the appeal to authority argument and claim it's a logical fallacy.

01:11:12.000 --> 01:11:13.000
But here's the thing.

01:11:13.000 --> 01:11:16.000
Even if I appeal to dad, dad could be right.

01:11:16.000 --> 01:11:17.000
Yeah.

01:11:17.000 --> 01:11:21.000
They're like, oh, well, you're appealing to consensus.

01:11:21.000 --> 01:11:24.000
Anytime you have a majority opinion, appeal to consensus.

01:11:24.000 --> 01:11:26.000
Yeah, but the majority could just be right.

01:11:26.000 --> 01:11:29.000
The majority of the world thinks the earth is round.

01:11:29.000 --> 01:11:30.000
Sorry.

01:11:30.000 --> 01:11:33.000
Oh, but that's a logical fallacy.

01:11:33.000 --> 01:11:34.000
It's true.

01:11:34.000 --> 01:11:35.000
OK, 2 plus 2 equals 4.

01:11:35.000 --> 01:11:37.000
Well, it's appeal to consensus.

01:11:37.000 --> 01:11:40.000
Appeal to authority of a calculator.

01:11:40.000 --> 01:11:41.000
Ah!

01:11:41.000 --> 01:11:46.000
You know, these philosophical types, they just want to seem cool and just be like, oh,

01:11:46.000 --> 01:11:48.000
well, you know, that's a bad argument.

01:11:48.000 --> 01:11:51.000
It's just like they just have an excuse for everything.

01:11:51.000 --> 01:11:57.000
Sometimes you have to just recognize that there can be anecdotal evidence.

01:11:57.000 --> 01:11:59.000
We can appeal to the truth.

01:11:59.000 --> 01:12:01.000
We can appeal to authority.

01:12:01.000 --> 01:12:05.000
We don't get this mindset that you can't ever do these things.

01:12:05.000 --> 01:12:09.000
You can look at the mountaintop view and you can look, hey, these people are generally

01:12:09.000 --> 01:12:11.000
blessed and take notice of that.

01:12:11.000 --> 01:12:13.000
Take the wisdom from that.

01:12:13.000 --> 01:12:18.000
Take notice of, hey, these tribes, God put on all the mountaintop blessing, well, they

01:12:18.000 --> 01:12:20.000
continue to be blessed through the rest of the Bible.

01:12:20.000 --> 01:12:23.000
And the other group seems to be cursed from the Bible.

01:12:23.000 --> 01:12:25.000
I guess I'm going to have to go back to the Bible.

01:12:25.000 --> 01:12:28.000
I guess God is trying to tell us something maybe.

01:12:28.000 --> 01:12:30.000
You think God just did this randomly?

01:12:30.000 --> 01:12:33.000
Oh, let's just put random six people over here, random six people over here.

01:12:33.000 --> 01:12:35.000
No meaning, no purpose.

01:12:35.000 --> 01:12:36.000
I included it in the Bible.

01:12:36.000 --> 01:12:38.000
Moses is declaring it.

01:12:38.000 --> 01:12:40.000
Just ignore all of it.

01:12:40.000 --> 01:12:41.000
No, no, no.

01:12:41.000 --> 01:12:43.000
It's in the Bible on purpose.

01:12:43.000 --> 01:12:50.000
God wants you to look at things and say, wow, okay, these people are being more blessed

01:12:50.000 --> 01:12:51.000
than those.

01:12:51.000 --> 01:12:53.000
Here's some reason why.

01:12:53.000 --> 01:13:00.000
Here's some real evidence of the fruit of their particular doctrine, their theology,

01:13:00.000 --> 01:13:02.000
whatever they've got going on.

01:13:02.000 --> 01:13:04.000
I mean, you look at the Orthodox Church.

01:13:04.000 --> 01:13:07.000
Hey, I don't see the blessing of God on the Orthodox Church.

01:13:07.000 --> 01:13:10.000
The Orthodox Church is a geographic church.

01:13:10.000 --> 01:13:14.000
I mean, unless you're pretty much in Greece or Russia or some other small little sliver

01:13:14.000 --> 01:13:17.000
over there, you're not going to be Orthodox.

01:13:17.000 --> 01:13:18.000
Why?

01:13:18.000 --> 01:13:20.000
Because it's a cult.

01:13:20.000 --> 01:13:22.000
It's a cult that's geographic.

01:13:22.000 --> 01:13:26.000
It's not going to be compelling to people that are free thinking or critical thinking

01:13:26.000 --> 01:13:30.000
because the entire religion denounces critical thinking.

01:13:30.000 --> 01:13:33.000
It says, oh, how dare you actually read the Bible and actually think you could understand

01:13:33.000 --> 01:13:36.000
what it says and actually recognize anything.

01:13:36.000 --> 01:13:38.000
That doesn't really help a nation.

01:13:38.000 --> 01:13:41.000
That doesn't really help creativity.

01:13:41.000 --> 01:13:45.000
And then, oh, yeah, they get taken over by communism, which doesn't allow you to think.

01:13:45.000 --> 01:13:47.000
Isn't that interesting?

01:13:47.000 --> 01:13:52.000
The Russian Orthodox Church gets dominated by communism in Russia.

01:13:52.000 --> 01:13:57.000
Well, but that's just circumstantial.

01:13:57.000 --> 01:13:59.000
That Jews or whatever.

01:13:59.000 --> 01:14:01.000
It's like, OK, but here's the thing.

01:14:01.000 --> 01:14:05.000
Jews have infiltrated America and Jews have infiltrated Russia.

01:14:05.000 --> 01:14:08.000
One got literal communism.

01:14:08.000 --> 01:14:09.000
We haven't yet.

01:14:09.000 --> 01:14:11.000
That tells me we have a better resistance.

01:14:11.000 --> 01:14:14.000
Maybe it's because our religion doesn't tell us to sit down, shut up, and just do

01:14:14.000 --> 01:14:17.000
whatever they say no matter what.

01:14:17.000 --> 01:14:18.000
Maybe that's why.

01:14:18.000 --> 01:14:21.000
Maybe it's because like we literally threw the tea in the harbor.

01:14:21.000 --> 01:14:23.000
Maybe it's because we were like, hey, we want to have a constitution.

01:14:23.000 --> 01:14:27.000
Maybe it's because we were like, hey, the whole reason we're even here is to worship God.

01:14:27.000 --> 01:14:29.000
That's the whole reason we're here.

01:14:29.000 --> 01:14:32.000
And we're not going to just listen to whatever you have to say.

01:14:32.000 --> 01:14:34.000
Now, again, does that mean that we don't have problems?

01:14:34.000 --> 01:14:35.000
Yes, we have problems.

01:14:35.000 --> 01:14:37.000
Does that mean that we don't have a Jew problem?

01:14:37.000 --> 01:14:39.000
Everyone has a Jew problem.

01:14:39.000 --> 01:14:42.000
Didn't you know they're contrary to all men?

01:14:42.000 --> 01:14:45.000
They're contrary to all men.

01:14:45.000 --> 01:14:48.000
That means it's not impressive for you to recognize the problem.

01:14:48.000 --> 01:14:50.000
To be a noticer is to be human.

01:14:50.000 --> 01:14:54.000
OK, because that's what the Bible teaches.

01:14:54.000 --> 01:14:59.000
But at the end of the day, it's like I'm still recognizing those groups being different.

01:14:59.000 --> 01:15:02.000
There's a reason why they're different.

01:15:02.000 --> 01:15:06.000
We can't just sit here and just ignore the nose on someone's face.

01:15:06.000 --> 01:15:08.000
We have to recognize, hey, this group is blessed.

01:15:08.000 --> 01:15:10.000
This group is not.

01:15:10.000 --> 01:15:12.000
This group has fruit.

01:15:12.000 --> 01:15:13.000
This group doesn't have fruit.

01:15:13.000 --> 01:15:14.000
There's differences.

01:15:14.000 --> 01:15:16.000
And God wants us to recognize that.

01:15:16.000 --> 01:15:19.000
What was the fruit of the southern kingdom of Judah?

01:15:19.000 --> 01:15:22.000
It's much better fruit than the kingdom of Israel.

01:15:22.000 --> 01:15:24.000
They create idolatry initially.

01:15:24.000 --> 01:15:29.000
Where does the Jerusalem even exist in the southern kingdom of Judah?

01:15:29.000 --> 01:15:31.000
You know, that's not important.

01:15:31.000 --> 01:15:35.000
It's not important that that's where God put his house is in Jerusalem.

01:15:35.000 --> 01:15:38.000
He said every sacrifice and worship had to go there.

01:15:38.000 --> 01:15:41.000
That's where Jesus Christ literally is going to be killed.

01:15:41.000 --> 01:15:47.000
And and of course, the entire gospel message is going to be realized is in Jerusalem specifically.

01:15:47.000 --> 01:15:49.000
Look, this is significant.

01:15:49.000 --> 01:15:54.000
And we don't want to ignore the mountains of evidence that we have in our life.

01:15:54.000 --> 01:16:03.000
When you have a mountain of evidence, just a mountain of history, just a mountain of information on one side that is proving blessing.

01:16:03.000 --> 01:16:07.000
And then you have a mountain of cursing, a mountain of evil,

01:16:07.000 --> 01:16:12.000
a mountain of destruction, and you're just ignoring both of the mountains.

01:16:12.000 --> 01:16:17.000
And again, I'm just trying to say it seems like God a lot of times grading on a curve.

01:16:17.000 --> 01:16:19.000
You know, it's like a switch.

01:16:19.000 --> 01:16:21.000
You're on the you're on the blessing mode.

01:16:21.000 --> 01:16:28.000
And then if you if you go too far, sometimes he's just like switch to the cursing mode.

01:16:28.000 --> 01:16:30.000
Because again, no one's perfect.

01:16:30.000 --> 01:16:34.000
If it was based on being perfect, well, then we'd all live on curse mode.

01:16:34.000 --> 01:16:36.000
But that's obviously not the case.

01:16:36.000 --> 01:16:41.000
Obviously, God is just kind of like generally deciding, you know, is this pass, fail?

01:16:41.000 --> 01:16:42.000
Where are people at?

01:16:42.000 --> 01:16:46.000
And, you know, for me, I want to be on bless mode.

01:16:46.000 --> 01:16:51.000
And hey, the more you follow God's commandments, the better you're doing, the more you're going to be in bless mode.

01:16:51.000 --> 01:16:54.000
The more you're breaking his commandments, the more you're going to be in curse mode.

01:16:54.000 --> 01:16:55.000
I get it.

01:16:55.000 --> 01:17:00.000
But it just kind of seems like there's a general you're on a general mountain.

01:17:00.000 --> 01:17:02.000
And so why go to church?

01:17:02.000 --> 01:17:05.000
I don't know, because I want to stay on Mount Gerizim.

01:17:05.000 --> 01:17:06.000
And I don't want to be on Mount Gerizim.

01:17:06.000 --> 01:17:08.000
I want to be on the top of Mount Gerizim.

01:17:08.000 --> 01:17:10.000
So I want to follow all the commandments.

01:17:10.000 --> 01:17:12.000
I don't want to be close to leaving the mountain.

01:17:12.000 --> 01:17:13.000
Right.

01:17:13.000 --> 01:17:15.000
But it's kind of like you're either on one mountain or the other.

01:17:15.000 --> 01:17:18.000
And I just want to be on the right mountain.

01:17:18.000 --> 01:17:20.000
OK, that's why I go to church.

01:17:20.000 --> 01:17:21.000
That's why I want to still read my Bible.

01:17:21.000 --> 01:17:23.000
That's why I want to still go soul winning.

01:17:23.000 --> 01:17:26.000
That's why I try to follow his commandments and so that God will continue to bless my life.

01:17:26.000 --> 01:17:27.000
And isn't interesting.

01:17:27.000 --> 01:17:29.000
You keep the commandments.

01:17:29.000 --> 01:17:31.000
It's not neutral.

01:17:31.000 --> 01:17:32.000
Keeping God's commandments is a neutral.

01:17:32.000 --> 01:17:33.000
It blesses you.

01:17:33.000 --> 01:17:35.000
It blesses you.

01:17:35.000 --> 01:17:36.000
Breaking his commandments.

01:17:36.000 --> 01:17:37.000
It's not neutral.

01:17:37.000 --> 01:17:38.000
It curses you.

01:17:38.000 --> 01:17:40.000
There's no middle ground.

01:17:40.000 --> 01:17:43.000
There's no like I kept the commandment and nothing happened.

01:17:43.000 --> 01:17:44.000
You keep the commandment.

01:17:44.000 --> 01:17:45.000
You're blessed.

01:17:45.000 --> 01:17:47.000
You break the commandment.

01:17:47.000 --> 01:17:48.000
You're cursed.

01:17:48.000 --> 01:17:52.000
This is why I think it kind of helps you understand the point that I'm making.

01:17:52.000 --> 01:17:54.000
Why does it seem like you're on one motor or not?

01:17:54.000 --> 01:17:59.000
Well, when you're just keeping tons and tons of commandments, it's just like taking steps in this direction.

01:18:00.000 --> 01:18:03.000
And even if you took one step back, well, you took 20 this way.

01:18:03.000 --> 01:18:05.000
And then there's other people.

01:18:05.000 --> 01:18:08.000
They're just like lying and stealing and railing or whatever.

01:18:08.000 --> 01:18:11.000
And it's like I read my Bible today, though.

01:18:11.000 --> 01:18:12.000
OK.

01:18:12.000 --> 01:18:13.000
Yeah.

01:18:13.000 --> 01:18:18.000
But you're taking like so many steps this direction and you're just still stuck on curse mode.

01:18:18.000 --> 01:18:19.000
Right.

01:18:19.000 --> 01:18:22.000
It's like, hey, I want to be like Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night.

01:18:22.000 --> 01:18:27.000
I don't want to sit here and I don't want to be like, hey, I want to be like Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night.

01:18:27.000 --> 01:18:31.000
I don't want to sit here and just be like, well, Sunday morning.

01:18:31.000 --> 01:18:35.000
Ah, not Sunday night, not Wednesday night.

01:18:35.000 --> 01:18:36.000
Lying.

01:18:36.000 --> 01:18:37.000
Not reading my Bible.

01:18:37.000 --> 01:18:39.000
Stealing.

01:18:39.000 --> 01:18:41.000
You're going in the wrong direction.

01:18:41.000 --> 01:18:45.000
And then you're going to be in the different mode because notice it's like doing right.

01:18:45.000 --> 01:18:49.000
Blessing, blessing, blessing, blessing, doing wrong, cursing, cursing, cursing.

01:18:49.000 --> 01:18:52.000
Oh, well, that's just your opinion.

01:18:52.000 --> 01:18:55.000
I'm just trying to tell you what this Bible, this chapter's meaning.

01:18:55.000 --> 01:18:57.000
You can have your own opinion.

01:18:57.000 --> 01:19:00.000
I think some people are standing on Gerizim and some people are standing on Ebal.

01:19:00.000 --> 01:19:02.000
You say, why go three times a week?

01:19:02.000 --> 01:19:11.000
Because I want to stand as high as I can on Gerizim so that even when I take a couple steps back, I'm still on Mount Gerizim.

01:19:11.000 --> 01:19:17.000
And look, these are just general principles that I think the Bible is emphasizing, but that's what we see in our reality.

01:19:17.000 --> 01:19:19.000
That's what we see in our lives.

01:19:19.000 --> 01:19:21.000
And he's like, why was America blessed by God?

01:19:22.000 --> 01:19:27.000
Because I think it was taking more steps towards Gerizim than it was taking backwards.

01:19:27.000 --> 01:19:31.000
Now, again, can we show examples of America taking bad steps?

01:19:31.000 --> 01:19:32.000
Yes.

01:19:32.000 --> 01:19:34.000
Can we show examples of America not being perfect?

01:19:34.000 --> 01:19:35.000
Yes.

01:19:35.000 --> 01:19:37.000
How about even churches themselves?

01:19:37.000 --> 01:19:39.000
Of course, no church is perfect.

01:19:39.000 --> 01:19:45.000
And throughout history, people will look at churches and they're out there, but it's like the churches that were just taking lots of good steps, God was blessing.

01:19:45.000 --> 01:19:49.000
And the churches taking horrific steps, God was cursing.

01:19:49.000 --> 01:19:51.000
And again, this is just how life works.

01:19:51.000 --> 01:19:54.000
This is how God seems to operate.

01:19:54.000 --> 01:19:56.000
Which mountain are you on?

01:19:56.000 --> 01:20:02.000
And, you know, maybe this could motivate you to say, you know, I want to keep I want to take I want to hike a little higher up the mountain today.

01:20:02.000 --> 01:20:07.000
You know, the Bible says you reap what you sow.

01:20:07.000 --> 01:20:09.000
What does that mean?

01:20:09.000 --> 01:20:12.000
You are going to genuinely reap what you sow.

01:20:12.000 --> 01:20:13.000
You take good steps.

01:20:13.000 --> 01:20:16.000
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

01:20:16.000 --> 01:20:20.000
And hey, sometimes, you know, I've been hiking very seldom.

01:20:20.000 --> 01:20:25.000
Sometimes when you're hiking, especially when you get towards the top, there's not really a path anymore.

01:20:25.000 --> 01:20:27.000
Who knows what I'm talking about?

01:20:27.000 --> 01:20:28.000
You're climbing a mountain.

01:20:28.000 --> 01:20:29.000
It's like a path.

01:20:29.000 --> 01:20:30.000
And then all of a sudden, it's just rocks.

01:20:30.000 --> 01:20:32.000
And you're just like, OK, what do I do?

01:20:32.000 --> 01:20:36.000
Well, you could go up one way and then you kind of get bottlenecked.

01:20:36.000 --> 01:20:38.000
It was just you just kind of not going to get there.

01:20:38.000 --> 01:20:43.000
So you have to kind of you have to take a couple steps down and then go another way to maybe get up.

01:20:43.000 --> 01:20:49.000
So it's like, yeah, even when you take steps backward, that might still be God's plan for your life because he still wants to get you to the top.

01:20:49.000 --> 01:20:52.000
And look, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

01:20:52.000 --> 01:20:59.000
I believe people have a sincere heart and love God, even though they fall, even though they make mistakes, even though sometimes they have to step backwards.

01:20:59.000 --> 01:21:04.000
God is still working with them and God is still with them every step of the way.

01:21:04.000 --> 01:21:06.000
And they're still blessed in general.

01:21:06.000 --> 01:21:10.000
But those that are on Mount Ebal, none of their steps are blessed.

01:21:10.000 --> 01:21:12.000
None of their steps are going well.

01:21:12.000 --> 01:21:20.000
They're easily going to slip, trip, fall and have horrible consequences for their rebellion and their wickedness.

01:21:20.000 --> 01:21:24.000
And you have to think about in your life, which mountain do you live on?

01:21:24.000 --> 01:21:26.000
Which mountain are you climbing?

01:21:26.000 --> 01:21:28.000
What are you doing your day?

01:21:28.000 --> 01:21:32.000
And it's important that we try to take as many good steps as we can.

01:21:32.000 --> 01:21:35.000
And God will bless us as we take those steps.

01:21:36.000 --> 01:21:38.000
He says in verse 14,

01:21:53.000 --> 01:21:56.000
So kind of have this picture.

01:21:56.000 --> 01:22:00.000
It's like half of the children of Israel on one mountain, the other half on the other.

01:22:00.000 --> 01:22:02.000
The Levites speak.

01:22:02.000 --> 01:22:04.920
The Levites are the one to proclaim the law.

01:22:04.920 --> 01:22:08.340
They're the ones that tell everybody what's going on.

01:22:08.340 --> 01:22:12.840
But then notice it says, all the people shall answer and say, amen.

01:22:12.840 --> 01:22:17.580
Again, what is the Levitical priesthood kind of foreshadow or picture?

01:22:17.580 --> 01:22:20.280
It pictures the priests of God.

01:22:20.280 --> 01:22:23.100
It pictures those that are the servants of God.

01:22:23.100 --> 01:22:26.800
In the New Testament, we don't have a Levitical priesthood.

01:22:26.800 --> 01:22:29.220
We have the priesthood of Melchizedek.

01:22:29.700 --> 01:22:33.620
The Bible says in Revelation, and I believe in the priesthood of the believer,

01:22:33.620 --> 01:22:35.700
that we've been made priests unto God.

01:22:35.700 --> 01:22:38.500
So in a sense, while we're not a Levitical priest,

01:22:38.500 --> 01:22:42.500
and we don't have this exact same priesthood,

01:22:42.500 --> 01:22:46.820
I believe that in the New Testament, those that are saved are the priests of God.

01:22:46.820 --> 01:22:51.380
And so it's our job to declare God's word to the people.

01:22:51.380 --> 01:22:52.700
But this is what you have to understand.

01:22:52.700 --> 01:22:58.100
Regardless of if you're saved or not, God's word applies.

01:22:58.100 --> 01:23:01.420
There is not like God's word applies for only the saved.

01:23:01.420 --> 01:23:03.860
No, God's word applies to all man.

01:23:03.860 --> 01:23:06.500
And these curses apply to everyone.

01:23:06.500 --> 01:23:09.060
It's the priest's job to tell everybody about it.

01:23:09.060 --> 01:23:11.760
But it's everybody's responsibility to do it.

01:23:11.760 --> 01:23:14.220
It's everybody's responsibility to observe it.

01:23:14.220 --> 01:23:16.060
God is the God of the whole earth.

01:23:16.060 --> 01:23:20.900
That's why even Herod was held responsible for the law when John the

01:23:20.900 --> 01:23:24.900
Baptist had told him it was not lawful for him to have his brother's wife.

01:23:24.900 --> 01:23:26.300
Was that against Roman law?

01:23:26.300 --> 01:23:27.340
No.

01:23:27.340 --> 01:23:30.540
Was that against, you know, any kind of a custom or whatever?

01:23:30.540 --> 01:23:31.040
No, no, no.

01:23:31.040 --> 01:23:36.500
It was against God's law because God's law applies to Herod,

01:23:36.500 --> 01:23:40.340
whether he's a saved Christian or not, whether he's a Jew or not.

01:23:40.340 --> 01:23:43.860
I've had Christians tell me like, oh, well, if I live in the Old Testament,

01:23:43.860 --> 01:23:46.100
the Bible wouldn't apply to me because I'm not a Jew.

01:23:46.100 --> 01:23:48.900
No, no, no. The whole Bible applies to you, period.

01:23:48.900 --> 01:23:51.660
And if you weren't a Jew in the Old Testament, you know what you're supposed to do?

01:23:51.660 --> 01:23:56.580
Travel there, get circumcised as male and join a tribe.

01:23:56.580 --> 01:23:58.220
That's what you're supposed to do.

01:23:58.220 --> 01:23:59.340
Praise God in the New Testament.

01:23:59.340 --> 01:24:00.620
It's just like go to a church.

01:24:00.620 --> 01:24:03.900
You know, I've never circumcised anybody.

01:24:03.900 --> 01:24:04.860
All right.

01:24:04.860 --> 01:24:06.180
Nor would I ever want to.

01:24:06.180 --> 01:24:09.180
I mean, water baptism is great in comparison.

01:24:09.180 --> 01:24:14.460
I'd rather be done every service than have to be like circumcised as an adult.

01:24:14.460 --> 01:24:20.220
OK, so, you know, at the end of the day, you have to recognize that the New Testament is the better testament.

01:24:20.220 --> 01:24:25.220
But no matter what testament we're in, God's word applies to man.

01:24:25.220 --> 01:24:26.180
And God will hold.

01:24:26.180 --> 01:24:32.820
Look, God, how could God send someone to hell if the law didn't apply to every single person?

01:24:32.820 --> 01:24:34.100
What is he going to judge them by?

01:24:34.100 --> 01:24:35.540
What's the standard?

01:24:35.540 --> 01:24:37.220
The judgment is the law.

01:24:37.220 --> 01:24:42.700
The Bible even says in the book of Romans that the law is written on every single person's heart

01:24:42.700 --> 01:24:47.580
and that God is known by every single creature so that they are without excuse.

01:24:47.580 --> 01:24:50.740
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,

01:24:50.740 --> 01:24:55.580
being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal Godhead and his eternal power and Godhead,

01:24:55.580 --> 01:24:57.500
so they are without excuse.

01:24:57.500 --> 01:24:59.220
They are without excuse.

01:24:59.220 --> 01:25:01.100
There is no excuse.

01:25:01.100 --> 01:25:09.300
Every single person in India with some kind of idol has no excuse and is guilty before God.

01:25:09.300 --> 01:25:13.180
Every person in Africa with an idol is guilty before God.

01:25:13.180 --> 01:25:16.900
Every Catholic with all their idolatry is guilty before God.

01:25:16.900 --> 01:25:18.620
It does not matter if they're saved.

01:25:18.620 --> 01:25:20.020
It doesn't matter if they're Christian.

01:25:20.020 --> 01:25:20.820
It doesn't matter.

01:25:20.860 --> 01:25:27.700
And you know what? It's our job as the picture of Levites in the New Testament to tell them that

01:25:27.700 --> 01:25:32.660
and to say, hey, you guys over there with your idolatry, you're cursed.

01:25:32.660 --> 01:25:33.860
You're cursed.

01:25:33.860 --> 01:25:36.620
Catholics are cursed today with all their idolatry.

01:25:36.620 --> 01:25:37.700
It's wicked.

01:25:37.700 --> 01:25:39.180
It's pagan.

01:25:39.180 --> 01:25:40.740
It defaces God.

01:25:40.740 --> 01:25:42.180
It defames God.

01:25:42.180 --> 01:25:43.380
It's against God.

01:25:43.380 --> 01:25:44.740
It's Satanism.

01:25:44.740 --> 01:25:49.180
The Bible tells us in the New Testament that that which they sacrifice into idols,

01:25:49.180 --> 01:25:53.060
they sacrifice under devils is what they're doing.

01:25:53.060 --> 01:25:56.940
Don't sit here and act like, oh, well, they have an excuse or they don't know any better.

01:25:56.940 --> 01:25:57.780
No, no, no.

01:25:57.780 --> 01:25:59.900
It's written on every single person's heart.

01:25:59.900 --> 01:26:05.380
And it's our job to declare to them and tell them, hey, you're cursed for having all this idolatry.

01:26:05.380 --> 01:26:12.180
You know, would God America would get back to rejecting idolatry and removing idolatry from our

01:26:12.180 --> 01:26:14.420
lands and not allowing idolatry?

01:26:14.420 --> 01:26:18.220
Of course, false religions, Hinduism will bring in idolatry.

01:26:18.220 --> 01:26:22.460
We have Catholicism that's brought in all kinds of idolatry.

01:26:22.460 --> 01:26:23.540
And it's wicked.

01:26:23.540 --> 01:26:24.540
It's pagan.

01:26:24.540 --> 01:26:25.380
It's satanic.

01:26:25.380 --> 01:26:29.020
We should have nothing to do with it.

01:26:29.020 --> 01:26:30.980
God's bringing it up again.

01:26:30.980 --> 01:26:31.940
He's saying cursed to be any man.

01:26:31.940 --> 01:26:39.900
Notice this, that maketh any graven or molten image.

01:26:39.900 --> 01:26:44.500
Show me in verse 15 where it says worship.

01:26:44.500 --> 01:26:47.580
Show me in verse 15 where it says bow down.

01:26:47.580 --> 01:26:52.820
Show me in verse 15 where it says anything other than makes.

01:26:52.820 --> 01:26:56.060
It says curse it is the person that makes it.

01:26:56.060 --> 01:26:59.500
That tells me that we shouldn't even have it because there's some people that would try to

01:26:59.500 --> 01:27:03.540
excuse it and be like, well, as long as you're not bowing down or worshiping it or whatever.

01:27:03.540 --> 01:27:06.300
Look, I believe it's wrong to even make it.

01:27:06.300 --> 01:27:08.420
It's wrong to possess it, to have it.

01:27:08.420 --> 01:27:10.740
We should just have no graven images.

01:27:10.740 --> 01:27:12.900
We should just not have it at all.

01:27:12.900 --> 01:27:13.980
It's an abomination.

01:27:13.980 --> 01:27:14.980
God doesn't like it.

01:27:14.980 --> 01:27:17.860
God doesn't want it.

01:27:17.860 --> 01:27:22.940
And notice it says and put it in a secret place because they know like people shouldn't

01:27:22.940 --> 01:27:23.940
even have it.

01:27:23.940 --> 01:27:25.620
They have to hide it.

01:27:25.620 --> 01:27:32.020
Rachel takes the idols and she hides them because it's not something that is in the

01:27:32.020 --> 01:27:33.020
children of Israel.

01:27:33.020 --> 01:27:35.540
At least they would know like if you have this stuff, like you're going to be punished

01:27:35.540 --> 01:27:36.540
by God.

01:27:36.540 --> 01:27:37.380
It was evil.

01:27:37.380 --> 01:27:38.180
It was wicked.

01:27:38.180 --> 01:27:39.460
You can be put to death.

01:27:39.460 --> 01:27:42.420
So obviously it was kind of a hidden thing.

01:27:42.420 --> 01:27:46.780
Unfortunately today it's just out in the open in many cases, but that doesn't make

01:27:46.780 --> 01:27:47.780
it right.

01:27:47.780 --> 01:27:49.540
You know, why is it?

01:27:49.540 --> 01:27:52.180
Oh, well, culture thinks it's OK for us to possess it.

01:27:52.180 --> 01:27:53.620
So therefore now it's OK.

01:27:53.620 --> 01:27:54.620
I mean, think about it.

01:27:54.620 --> 01:27:56.340
It was so looked down upon.

01:27:56.340 --> 01:27:58.340
They weren't even allowed to have it in open.

01:27:58.340 --> 01:28:02.780
It was like God's bringing up like even if you had this in secret, like you're cursed.

01:28:02.780 --> 01:28:06.740
You're cursed of God because God can see everything.

01:28:06.740 --> 01:28:08.380
God knows everything.

01:28:08.380 --> 01:28:10.180
And even if your sin, think about this.

01:28:10.180 --> 01:28:14.900
If any of your sins harming no one else, God's still offended by it because there's

01:28:14.900 --> 01:28:18.780
these arguments out there that say, oh, well, what two people do in private doesn't harm

01:28:18.780 --> 01:28:19.780
anybody.

01:28:19.780 --> 01:28:20.780
Lies.

01:28:21.500 --> 01:28:26.380
What one person does in private that's potentially harming no person, God could still take offense

01:28:26.380 --> 01:28:29.580
and God could say, well, you're cursed anyways.

01:28:29.580 --> 01:28:34.220
I mean, because if you think about it, how is having a graven statue, you know, a little

01:28:34.220 --> 01:28:37.820
Emmy Award or something, a Tony or something hidden in your closet, how's that harming

01:28:37.820 --> 01:28:38.820
anybody?

01:28:39.540 --> 01:28:41.660
It's not, but you know, it's offensive to God.

01:28:41.660 --> 01:28:43.700
And so God wants you to destroy it.

01:28:43.700 --> 01:28:46.620
God doesn't want idolatry to exist.

01:28:46.620 --> 01:28:50.380
It has to be whenever they catch idolatry in the Bible, they just kill it.

01:28:50.380 --> 01:28:51.380
They'd be destroyed.

01:28:51.380 --> 01:28:55.460
I mean, when Moses comes down, he burns the golden calf and destroys it, grinds it in

01:28:55.460 --> 01:28:57.260
powder, puts it in the water.

01:28:58.260 --> 01:28:59.260
Not allowed to have it.

01:29:00.180 --> 01:29:04.020
And again, I think that that should be how we are as Baptists and as Christians.

01:29:04.020 --> 01:29:05.900
I don't even want any kind.

01:29:05.900 --> 01:29:08.060
I don't want to get close to this.

01:29:08.140 --> 01:29:11.820
You know, there's a lot of Christians who have like these graven images set up in their

01:29:11.820 --> 01:29:14.860
church for nativity scenes or other kinds of stuff.

01:29:14.860 --> 01:29:15.860
I don't want it.

01:29:16.700 --> 01:29:20.940
You know, they might inherit a church that had this kind of stuff, burn it.

01:29:20.940 --> 01:29:24.340
You know, I've heard I haven't seen it, but it seems like it happened.

01:29:24.340 --> 01:29:28.780
I guess they made a statue of Jack Hiles and put it at their church.

01:29:28.780 --> 01:29:31.260
That's wicked. Like, we should just burn it.

01:29:31.260 --> 01:29:32.940
And look, I love Jack Hiles.

01:29:32.940 --> 01:29:33.780
I love Pastor Hiles.

01:29:33.780 --> 01:29:35.220
I think he was a great pastor.

01:29:35.220 --> 01:29:37.540
I think he was greatly used of God.

01:29:37.540 --> 01:29:42.020
And again, to make it clear, Jack Hiles didn't say like, make me a statue or something.

01:29:42.020 --> 01:29:44.380
I don't even believe it ever happened in his lifetime.

01:29:44.380 --> 01:29:46.060
I think it was after the fact.

01:29:46.060 --> 01:29:47.060
You know what?

01:29:47.060 --> 01:29:51.460
We shouldn't be lifting up statues of man and praising man that way.

01:29:51.460 --> 01:29:52.740
It's inappropriate.

01:29:52.740 --> 01:29:54.940
It's unbiblical. It's ungodly.

01:29:54.940 --> 01:29:56.060
It should be condemned.

01:29:56.060 --> 01:29:57.140
It should be called out.

01:29:57.140 --> 01:30:01.340
And you know what? Why would you want to invite a curse on you and your church like that?

01:30:01.340 --> 01:30:03.820
Oh, we built this altar to Jack Hiles and then we got

01:30:05.220 --> 01:30:06.220
Jack's scop.

01:30:07.780 --> 01:30:08.780
Hmm.

01:30:09.460 --> 01:30:11.100
Do you think that was a blessing or a cursing?

01:30:12.580 --> 01:30:14.140
I mean, let's just look at their church.

01:30:14.140 --> 01:30:17.220
Let's just take the mountaintop view of that church.

01:30:17.220 --> 01:30:19.860
Have they been blessed or cursed since putting that idol up?

01:30:22.900 --> 01:30:26.540
Oh, well, that's anecdotal or, oh, that's subjective or that could happen to anybody.

01:30:26.540 --> 01:30:28.500
I mean, everything's a coincidence, right?

01:30:31.180 --> 01:30:35.020
Maybe you shouldn't make idols as a church.

01:30:35.020 --> 01:30:36.180
You know, idols are wrong.

01:30:36.180 --> 01:30:39.540
Idols are wicked, even if it's from a Baptist.

01:30:39.980 --> 01:30:42.100
Oh, well, but they're not worshiping it.

01:30:43.100 --> 01:30:44.500
It doesn't seem like it worked out.

01:30:46.100 --> 01:30:51.260
I mean, I'm just saying you got a church that's running like 15, 20 thousand people.

01:30:52.420 --> 01:30:54.540
And now it's running 1500 or whatever.

01:30:54.540 --> 01:30:56.940
I don't know what the number is. I mean, greatly diminished.

01:30:57.380 --> 01:31:00.500
They had a huge scandal with a horrific pastor coming in.

01:31:01.020 --> 01:31:03.660
Maybe there was a problem with the spirit in the heart of those people.

01:31:03.660 --> 01:31:08.100
And maybe God said, hey, this is too this too much of a bridge across for me.

01:31:08.420 --> 01:31:11.100
You've gone to the other side of the mountain. Bye.

01:31:13.380 --> 01:31:16.380
Because, look, I don't think that God just has to make churches get diminished

01:31:16.380 --> 01:31:19.540
or become small or not go well.

01:31:19.940 --> 01:31:23.620
But again, you raise up a graven image, graze up a graven statue.

01:31:24.900 --> 01:31:27.180
And you're just inviting God's curse on your life.

01:31:27.700 --> 01:31:29.540
I would never want that.

01:31:29.540 --> 01:31:31.980
I don't even think I go to a church that wants to do that.

01:31:32.380 --> 01:31:34.620
It's gross. It's weird.

01:31:34.620 --> 01:31:36.700
And I don't think that that's that's a blessing.

01:31:38.020 --> 01:31:41.980
Says here in verse 16, curse would be that said, light by his father, his mother.

01:31:42.580 --> 01:31:44.500
And all the people shall say, amen.

01:31:44.900 --> 01:31:48.300
I love this verse because, you know, we have verses that talk about honor

01:31:48.300 --> 01:31:51.620
the father and mother and cursing and striking your parents.

01:31:52.100 --> 01:31:56.140
But this this is like taking it to another level, just saying, just set a light.

01:31:57.580 --> 01:32:00.860
Now, what does it mean to make light of something?

01:32:02.020 --> 01:32:04.060
It's just to just not take it serious

01:32:04.940 --> 01:32:08.020
or to joke about it or to mock it in any kind of way.

01:32:08.420 --> 01:32:11.460
So just saying like not taking your parents seriously,

01:32:12.140 --> 01:32:17.660
not taking their advice seriously, not being sober about your parents

01:32:17.820 --> 01:32:22.180
and any way, disrespecting them, joking about them, making fun of them,

01:32:22.180 --> 01:32:23.580
going against them.

01:32:23.580 --> 01:32:26.180
What does the Bible say? You're cursed.

01:32:26.180 --> 01:32:29.860
You're inviting a curse on your life to go against your parents

01:32:29.980 --> 01:32:32.180
or taking your parents lightly.

01:32:32.180 --> 01:32:34.300
How about just the New Testament understanding of this

01:32:34.500 --> 01:32:37.940
in the sense of parents needing help or needing support from their children

01:32:38.140 --> 01:32:42.100
and them not taking it seriously and not actually helping their parents?

01:32:42.260 --> 01:32:46.060
You're inviting a curse on yourself when you're not going to take your parents

01:32:46.060 --> 01:32:50.420
seriously, take honoring your parents seriously, doing good on your parents.

01:32:50.740 --> 01:32:52.060
You're inviting a curse.

01:32:52.060 --> 01:32:56.700
And, you know, this Bible verse is really important for all societies to do well.

01:32:57.180 --> 01:32:59.940
When children don't honor their parents and are taking their parents,

01:33:00.300 --> 01:33:03.500
you know, unseriously or joking or making fun of them or not taking care of them,

01:33:03.820 --> 01:33:06.220
it crumbles society as a whole.

01:33:06.220 --> 01:33:07.260
It's very important.

01:33:07.260 --> 01:33:11.420
And again, a lot of these statutes are going to be devastating to the nation.

01:33:11.660 --> 01:33:13.180
Idolatry is going to ruin the nation.

01:33:13.180 --> 01:33:14.300
It's going to curse the nation.

01:33:14.300 --> 01:33:16.300
We talk about not taking your parents seriously.

01:33:16.300 --> 01:33:17.900
That's going to curse the nation.

01:33:17.900 --> 01:33:19.860
That's going to destroy the nation.

01:33:19.860 --> 01:33:21.900
We need to have no idolatry.

01:33:21.900 --> 01:33:24.740
We need children to actually, you know, take their parents

01:33:24.740 --> 01:33:26.940
seriously and their commandments seriously.

01:33:27.340 --> 01:33:30.460
And what I've noticed is that some people today's culture,

01:33:30.940 --> 01:33:33.580
what they like to do is they like to put this button out there

01:33:34.100 --> 01:33:36.900
where they can just ignore this verse.

01:33:36.900 --> 01:33:38.700
And this button is called abuse.

01:33:38.700 --> 01:33:40.980
They just they just hit this abuse button.

01:33:41.340 --> 01:33:44.780
OK. And and in their mind, as soon as they hit this,

01:33:44.900 --> 01:33:47.500
this verse is no longer applies to them.

01:33:47.500 --> 01:33:49.380
They just say, like, well, abuse.

01:33:49.380 --> 01:33:52.580
So therefore, I don't have to care about what my parents say.

01:33:52.820 --> 01:33:55.980
And when I when I use this word abuse, I want to make it clear

01:33:55.980 --> 01:33:59.820
that I'm trying to use the word that our modern culture would say

01:33:59.820 --> 01:34:03.300
when they say the word abuse, which means anything negative in any way.

01:34:04.740 --> 01:34:09.700
Because ultimately, our society throws this word abuse around.

01:34:09.900 --> 01:34:11.540
And why am I using it?

01:34:11.540 --> 01:34:14.020
Because the world will confuse you with this word all day long.

01:34:14.580 --> 01:34:20.380
They'll say, well, I was emotionally abandoned by my parents. Abuse.

01:34:21.180 --> 01:34:23.380
And it's like, what's emotional abandonment?

01:34:23.380 --> 01:34:25.300
They missed one of my soccer games.

01:34:26.860 --> 01:34:29.300
It's like, bro, that's not abuse.

01:34:29.300 --> 01:34:31.700
OK, they miss a soccer game or something like that.

01:34:32.020 --> 01:34:37.380
Or, well, I was playing video games and my dad told me to stop playing.

01:34:37.380 --> 01:34:41.260
And then he came in and he he took the cartridge out and threw it against the wall.

01:34:42.940 --> 01:34:46.260
Abuse. I'm not joking.

01:34:46.260 --> 01:34:47.740
This is real stuff.

01:34:47.740 --> 01:34:51.420
There was I think there was a kid that his dad took away his video games

01:34:51.420 --> 01:34:54.180
or tried to take his video and he killed his dad,

01:34:54.180 --> 01:34:57.500
really attacked his father and killed him because of video games.

01:34:59.580 --> 01:35:02.380
I mean, look, this is not abuse again.

01:35:03.660 --> 01:35:06.500
I want to go to go to numbers, chapter number 12, the numbers of 12.

01:35:08.380 --> 01:35:11.700
So, you know, there's a lot of stuff that's just biblical punishment,

01:35:12.420 --> 01:35:14.500
loving punishment.

01:35:14.820 --> 01:35:17.140
That was it will be classified as abuse today.

01:35:17.580 --> 01:35:22.540
And here's the thing, because of the strong sounding language of the word abuse,

01:35:23.100 --> 01:35:25.540
everybody just immediately agrees with them.

01:35:25.540 --> 01:35:27.700
Is it they're just like, how dare you talk about your parents?

01:35:27.700 --> 01:35:29.540
Well, I was abused. They're like, OK, then it's fine.

01:35:30.780 --> 01:35:36.100
And it's just like, well, no, that's not just a get out of honoring your parents

01:35:36.540 --> 01:35:38.620
free card. It's not like the word Corbin.

01:35:38.620 --> 01:35:40.580
You know, it used to be Corbin.

01:35:40.580 --> 01:35:41.940
Now it's abuse.

01:35:41.940 --> 01:35:44.900
OK, it's just like, well, it's abuse, man.

01:35:45.420 --> 01:35:46.980
You know, they would spank me.

01:35:46.980 --> 01:35:48.660
That's not abuse.

01:35:48.660 --> 01:35:51.180
Well, they told me no. That's not abuse.

01:35:51.580 --> 01:35:53.540
Well, they didn't give me as much money as I wanted.

01:35:53.540 --> 01:35:54.820
That's not abuse.

01:35:54.820 --> 01:36:00.060
Look, everybody is using this word so loosely today, and it's silly and infantile.

01:36:00.220 --> 01:36:03.620
And it's just a way to kind of excuse the fact they have to obey their parents.

01:36:04.900 --> 01:36:07.380
Now, in our current culture, in our current society,

01:36:07.380 --> 01:36:09.380
if you spit on someone, it's considered assault.

01:36:11.100 --> 01:36:13.180
So don't spit on people. All right.

01:36:13.180 --> 01:36:14.580
You can be arrested by the police.

01:36:14.580 --> 01:36:18.180
If you spit on someone, it can be you can be arrested for assault.

01:36:18.940 --> 01:36:21.860
OK, what if a dad spit on his daughter?

01:36:22.940 --> 01:36:24.860
She abuse.

01:36:24.860 --> 01:36:26.540
OK, but what does the Bible say?

01:36:26.540 --> 01:36:29.700
Numbers, chapter 12, verse 14, and the Lord said to Moses,

01:36:29.700 --> 01:36:34.620
if her father had but spit in her face, call CPS abuse away.

01:36:34.620 --> 01:36:36.100
No, it doesn't say that.

01:36:36.100 --> 01:36:38.780
It says, should she not be ashamed seven days?

01:36:39.340 --> 01:36:41.700
Let her be shut out from the camp seven days.

01:36:41.700 --> 01:36:43.820
And after that, let her be received in again.

01:36:44.060 --> 01:36:47.900
The Bible says that if a father spit in his daughter's face,

01:36:48.260 --> 01:36:50.500
the daughter is the one that's at fault.

01:36:51.220 --> 01:36:54.020
The daughter is the one that should be shamed and embarrassed

01:36:54.420 --> 01:36:59.220
for her dad having to do such a weird, grotesque thing to shame her.

01:37:00.540 --> 01:37:03.220
But, you know, at the end of the day, hey, what did God?

01:37:03.220 --> 01:37:07.580
We live in a society where dads will be willing to spit in their daughter's face

01:37:07.740 --> 01:37:10.940
for dressing like a whore, for whoring themselves out,

01:37:11.100 --> 01:37:15.860
for doing drugs and alcohol and bringing just a mint shame on the family name.

01:37:16.260 --> 01:37:20.660
But the day if a dad did so, they would say, oh, abuse, you poor little victim,

01:37:20.660 --> 01:37:24.340
you oh, you've been so mistreated. Oh, no, no, no.

01:37:24.540 --> 01:37:27.020
Curse would be the person that sets their parents light.

01:37:27.580 --> 01:37:29.980
It's light on their parents, father and mother.

01:37:30.460 --> 01:37:31.900
Curse would be women that are going out,

01:37:31.900 --> 01:37:34.260
whoring themselves and doing all this wicked stuff

01:37:34.580 --> 01:37:37.100
and making an embarrassment of their entire family.

01:37:37.580 --> 01:37:41.060
I mean, if in some cases, if you were a priest daughter specifically

01:37:41.060 --> 01:37:42.900
and you whored yourself out, it was the death penalty.

01:37:43.620 --> 01:37:45.580
Hey, we're the priests of the New Testament.

01:37:45.580 --> 01:37:50.100
How how dare a Christian daughter go out and whore herself?

01:37:50.980 --> 01:37:52.940
What kind of shame and embarrassment?

01:37:53.900 --> 01:37:55.780
You know, you should honor your father and your mother.

01:37:55.780 --> 01:37:59.620
And even if they did have to spit on your face, you know what? Take it.

01:38:01.420 --> 01:38:03.020
Go over to Proverbs, chapter 13.

01:38:03.020 --> 01:38:07.580
Now, look, I'm not saying dads go home and spit in your daughter's face. OK.

01:38:10.460 --> 01:38:15.180
Obviously, this would be an extreme situation,

01:38:15.500 --> 01:38:17.660
a rare circumstance.

01:38:17.900 --> 01:38:20.860
It would have to be something that was really egregious.

01:38:21.420 --> 01:38:25.180
But hey, you know, if if if some girl came up to me and was like,

01:38:25.420 --> 01:38:29.700
hey, I was wearing this hoarse outfit and I drank alcohol, my dad spit in my face.

01:38:29.820 --> 01:38:32.100
I'd be like, sounds like a great dad.

01:38:33.020 --> 01:38:37.020
You're not going to you're not going to get me to get mad at your dad.

01:38:37.380 --> 01:38:41.380
Now, obviously, if you're just like every day, my dad just spits in my face

01:38:41.380 --> 01:38:43.020
just for fun and laughs at me.

01:38:43.020 --> 01:38:45.260
I'd be like, well, that's really crappy to do.

01:38:45.260 --> 01:38:47.740
You know, sounds like a terrible dad. OK.

01:38:48.060 --> 01:38:49.540
So don't hear me wrong.

01:38:49.540 --> 01:38:52.100
I'm not trying to green light doing these kind of things.

01:38:52.100 --> 01:38:54.300
God's not green lighting these kind of things.

01:38:54.620 --> 01:38:56.940
But you know what? It was a legitimate punishment.

01:38:57.180 --> 01:38:59.900
If it's in response to some egregious act.

01:38:59.900 --> 01:39:01.820
Yeah, I think it's on the table.

01:39:01.820 --> 01:39:03.540
I think it's on the table.

01:39:03.540 --> 01:39:06.140
Why? Because God was using it as an illustration.

01:39:06.140 --> 01:39:08.580
God was using an example. Oh, that's Old Testament.

01:39:08.580 --> 01:39:09.140
Well, you know what?

01:39:09.140 --> 01:39:12.060
The Old Testament is my New Testament because first Corinthians,

01:39:12.060 --> 01:39:17.300
chapter number 10 says it's written for me, for my admonition and for my learning.

01:39:17.420 --> 01:39:19.220
And no, Jesus didn't die on the cross.

01:39:19.220 --> 01:39:21.740
So your dad can't spit in your face anymore.

01:39:22.540 --> 01:39:25.780
Silly. And the Bible talks about being punished.

01:39:25.820 --> 01:39:28.060
Proverbs 13, look at verse 24.

01:39:28.060 --> 01:39:30.540
He that spared his rod, hated the sun,

01:39:30.780 --> 01:39:32.940
but he that love of them chasing them at times.

01:39:32.940 --> 01:39:36.140
Oh, my dad always spanked me every time I disobeyed.

01:39:36.980 --> 01:39:39.540
Well, it's not abuse. Love.

01:39:40.740 --> 01:39:43.540
You say, man, I got away with stuff all the time.

01:39:44.100 --> 01:39:46.380
According to the Bible, that would be what?

01:39:47.140 --> 01:39:49.100
Him sparing his rod and hating his son.

01:39:50.300 --> 01:39:52.700
I'm not talking about things that are unawares.

01:39:52.700 --> 01:39:56.460
Obviously, we never can necessarily catch our kids in every sin.

01:39:56.980 --> 01:39:59.100
We never know every every circumstance.

01:39:59.100 --> 01:40:01.180
I'm not talking about times where your parents set you down and said,

01:40:01.180 --> 01:40:04.180
hey, you deserve this, but I'm going to show you mercy anyways.

01:40:04.500 --> 01:40:07.620
But I'm just saying parents that know they should discipline their kids

01:40:07.740 --> 01:40:10.980
and their kids defy their parents and the parents just say,

01:40:11.100 --> 01:40:12.500
I just don't want to deal with it.

01:40:12.500 --> 01:40:14.940
Well, the Bible says you hate your son.

01:40:14.940 --> 01:40:17.740
Even if you did it some, if you spared the rod,

01:40:17.900 --> 01:40:20.340
if you didn't do it every time, then you didn't love them.

01:40:20.620 --> 01:40:22.820
Yet many people will call this abuse again today.

01:40:23.140 --> 01:40:28.020
Our modern culture and modern society, which is just a feminized,

01:40:28.340 --> 01:40:33.980
psychoanalyzed group of weirdos, will try to say that any corporal punishment

01:40:34.260 --> 01:40:36.260
is somehow abuse.

01:40:36.460 --> 01:40:38.540
And you know what? I don't care what they have to say.

01:40:39.660 --> 01:40:43.500
A loving parent will spank his kids and will not spare the rod.

01:40:43.620 --> 01:40:45.740
He will chase into him the times.

01:40:46.700 --> 01:40:49.140
Look at Proverbs 23, verse 13.

01:40:49.140 --> 01:40:53.220
Oh, well, I get to, you know, disrespect my parents because they punished me.

01:40:53.540 --> 01:40:56.740
False. It's a one way street.

01:40:57.700 --> 01:41:00.100
Proverbs 23, look at verse 13.

01:41:00.100 --> 01:41:04.220
Withhold not correction from the child, for if thou beatest him with the rod,

01:41:04.580 --> 01:41:06.420
he shall not die.

01:41:06.420 --> 01:41:10.900
Thou shalt beat him with the rod and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

01:41:11.260 --> 01:41:13.700
You know, I just have to be honest, the language of the Bible

01:41:13.700 --> 01:41:15.780
doesn't sound real nice.

01:41:15.780 --> 01:41:17.980
It doesn't sound real kind.

01:41:17.980 --> 01:41:20.700
It sounds like there's an actual punishment being doled out.

01:41:21.060 --> 01:41:24.220
Now, again, I believe if you compare scripture to scripture,

01:41:24.420 --> 01:41:29.260
you can tell clearly that the punishment from a loving parent to a child

01:41:29.460 --> 01:41:32.780
would never do something to harm the child permanently,

01:41:33.180 --> 01:41:35.780
would never do something that would cause them any kind of negative

01:41:35.780 --> 01:41:37.700
consequence in the future.

01:41:37.700 --> 01:41:39.900
It's a temporary punishment.

01:41:40.060 --> 01:41:41.860
It's a temporary pain.

01:41:41.860 --> 01:41:44.300
It's not crossing any kind of weird lines.

01:41:44.500 --> 01:41:45.740
We get that.

01:41:45.740 --> 01:41:48.620
But at the end of the day, this is God ordained.

01:41:48.740 --> 01:41:49.820
It's not a suggestion.

01:41:49.820 --> 01:41:52.020
It's a commandment. Thou shalt beat him with the rod.

01:41:52.180 --> 01:41:55.260
The other way to Proverbs 29, verse 15, Proverbs 29, verse 15.

01:41:58.380 --> 01:42:01.420
The Bible says this, the rod and reproof give wisdom,

01:42:01.900 --> 01:42:06.020
but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

01:42:06.540 --> 01:42:08.340
What is the Bible saying?

01:42:08.340 --> 01:42:11.300
Leniency is the problem.

01:42:11.500 --> 01:42:15.500
Sparing the rod and leaving them to themselves is the problem.

01:42:16.260 --> 01:42:17.940
So so here's the thing.

01:42:18.260 --> 01:42:20.420
Can you blame parents

01:42:20.740 --> 01:42:22.740
for their children's misbehavior?

01:42:23.020 --> 01:42:24.940
I would argue yes and no.

01:42:25.420 --> 01:42:26.620
Not always.

01:42:26.620 --> 01:42:30.220
But if you were to blame a parent, what would be the accusation?

01:42:30.620 --> 01:42:32.420
They were too lenient.

01:42:32.900 --> 01:42:36.940
They spared the rod and they left their children to themselves.

01:42:37.380 --> 01:42:39.940
Nowhere in the Bible does it teach, you know what?

01:42:39.940 --> 01:42:42.620
You punished it. You spanked your kid every time they disobeyed.

01:42:42.620 --> 01:42:44.060
Therefore, you're bad.

01:42:44.060 --> 01:42:46.260
That is not what the Bible teaches anywhere.

01:42:46.260 --> 01:42:48.740
You say, oh, well, you provoked your children in the wrath.

01:42:48.780 --> 01:42:52.740
Spank your kids for disciplining for disobeying is not going to provoke them to wrath.

01:42:52.740 --> 01:42:55.540
Disciplining them when they did nothing wrong, good.

01:42:56.060 --> 01:43:00.340
Only showing discipline and showing no love could provoke them under wrath.

01:43:00.340 --> 01:43:04.340
But disciplining your kids for disobeying is not going to provoke them to wrath.

01:43:04.340 --> 01:43:08.140
Disciplining them over the top when it doesn't match the crime.

01:43:08.140 --> 01:43:09.940
I think that could provoke them to wrath.

01:43:09.940 --> 01:43:13.540
Disciplining them appropriately, lovingly, according to the Bible,

01:43:13.540 --> 01:43:15.740
when they disobey is not going to provoke them to wrath.

01:43:15.740 --> 01:43:17.740
Disobeying is not going to provoke them to wrath.

01:43:17.740 --> 01:43:19.940
And we should not be afraid to follow God's commandment.

01:43:20.100 --> 01:43:22.300
In fact, we should be afraid to be too lenient.

01:43:22.300 --> 01:43:24.660
We should be afraid to spare the rod.

01:43:24.660 --> 01:43:27.140
We should be afraid to leave them to themselves.

01:43:27.860 --> 01:43:30.740
Now, here's the thing. A parent disciplines their kid appropriately

01:43:31.260 --> 01:43:35.340
and doesn't spare and isn't lenient and isn't leaving them to themselves

01:43:35.620 --> 01:43:36.860
and is still rebellious.

01:43:36.860 --> 01:43:38.260
Well, now that's the kids fault.

01:43:38.260 --> 01:43:39.820
Now that's the kid to blame.

01:43:39.820 --> 01:43:43.180
I can't blame the parent for that because the parent did what was right.

01:43:43.500 --> 01:43:47.300
And we're going to the child's going to bear the total responsibility.

01:43:47.740 --> 01:43:52.420
Regardless, everyone is going to bear their their sin no matter what.

01:43:54.300 --> 01:43:58.060
The parent could partly be in blame, though, because perhaps the child,

01:43:58.260 --> 01:44:01.700
if having given the rod enough and had not been left to himself,

01:44:02.100 --> 01:44:04.100
would have potentially obeyed.

01:44:04.100 --> 01:44:06.820
But we can't sit here and say, oh, this child is in rebellion

01:44:06.820 --> 01:44:09.260
because he was spanked, according to the Bible.

01:44:09.620 --> 01:44:11.620
That is a logical fallacy.

01:44:11.620 --> 01:44:13.340
It's unbiblical doctrine.

01:44:13.340 --> 01:44:15.500
And it's going to undermine the authority of parents.

01:44:16.100 --> 01:44:17.140
And we don't want that.

01:44:17.140 --> 01:44:19.420
And we want to set parents at light,

01:44:19.420 --> 01:44:21.860
whether that be our parents or any parents today.

01:44:22.140 --> 01:44:24.900
We want to make sure that, hey, you know, I also don't want to set light.

01:44:25.140 --> 01:44:29.380
God, the father, by saying, well, I know he said, don't spare the rod.

01:44:29.580 --> 01:44:31.860
But I think you should not spank teenagers.

01:44:34.980 --> 01:44:36.700
Well, I just think that you shouldn't do this.

01:44:36.700 --> 01:44:37.980
I just don't think you should punish.

01:44:37.980 --> 01:44:40.140
I think, well, who cares what you think?

01:44:41.140 --> 01:44:43.820
I care what God thinks and I care what God's word says.

01:44:44.060 --> 01:44:47.380
And look, whether a parent, how they discipline their kids is up to them.

01:44:47.420 --> 01:44:48.940
I'm not trying to get in your way.

01:44:48.940 --> 01:44:50.300
But you know what? Here's the thing.

01:44:50.300 --> 01:44:52.980
When someone's telling you not allowed to do something in the Bible,

01:44:52.980 --> 01:44:55.740
ordains you're setting at light God's opinion here.

01:44:56.900 --> 01:44:58.420
And how dare you cursed?

01:44:58.420 --> 01:45:01.980
You are cursed if you're going to sit here and go against God's word

01:45:01.980 --> 01:45:06.340
or set at light the father's opinion or go against your father in heaven

01:45:06.900 --> 01:45:08.980
or try to diminish from God's word.

01:45:09.100 --> 01:45:11.060
The Bible says we're not supposed to diminish a word.

01:45:11.060 --> 01:45:13.260
We're not supposed to add, not supposed to diminish.

01:45:13.580 --> 01:45:16.820
We're supposed to just keep it God's word, whatever God said.

01:45:17.740 --> 01:45:20.820
Well, you know, the first Peter chapter two now.

01:45:20.820 --> 01:45:23.740
I think I've made myself very clear on this point.

01:45:26.500 --> 01:45:28.820
Of course, somebody will twist anything I say.

01:45:29.260 --> 01:45:32.020
But what if a parent did go too far?

01:45:32.740 --> 01:45:34.140
What if a parent made a mistake?

01:45:34.140 --> 01:45:36.140
What if a parent did something wrong?

01:45:36.140 --> 01:45:38.660
You still don't set it like them.

01:45:39.700 --> 01:45:42.740
There's no button on the table says like now I can set it like my parents.

01:45:43.060 --> 01:45:44.860
Now I can curse my parents.

01:45:44.860 --> 01:45:46.420
Now I can strike my parents.

01:45:46.420 --> 01:45:50.460
Look, even if your parents were bad or did things that were wrong.

01:45:50.740 --> 01:45:53.020
You know what? Why don't you just take the bad and the wrong

01:45:53.020 --> 01:45:55.100
and move on with your life?

01:45:55.100 --> 01:45:57.780
You don't have to reciprocate evil for evil.

01:45:58.220 --> 01:46:01.260
That is an unbiblical, un-Christian attitude, and you will be cursed

01:46:01.260 --> 01:46:05.420
for your wrong. You just honor your parents, period.

01:46:05.980 --> 01:46:08.260
You just take them serious, period.

01:46:08.420 --> 01:46:10.940
You don't disrespect them, period.

01:46:10.940 --> 01:46:11.980
What does the Bible teach?

01:46:11.980 --> 01:46:14.660
Well, when you go to work, you're going to do the same thing to your boss.

01:46:15.100 --> 01:46:18.100
How much more your own parents?

01:46:18.100 --> 01:46:20.300
You think, oh, you think every boss is always perfect?

01:46:20.620 --> 01:46:23.940
Look at first Peter chapter two, verse 18.

01:46:23.940 --> 01:46:27.340
So servants be subject to your masters with all fear,

01:46:27.340 --> 01:46:32.180
not only to the good and gentle, but also to the foward,

01:46:32.420 --> 01:46:35.460
meaning that even if you have bad bosses, sometimes you just have to bite

01:46:35.460 --> 01:46:39.340
your tongue and just do it anyways and do what's right and give them their respect.

01:46:39.700 --> 01:46:42.180
And you know what? Even if your parents aren't perfect, make mistakes,

01:46:42.180 --> 01:46:46.860
are hypocrites, are lazy, or they go over the top or they yell

01:46:46.860 --> 01:46:49.180
or they scream or they do whatever.

01:46:49.260 --> 01:46:51.660
Hey, just obey anyways.

01:46:51.660 --> 01:46:56.300
Or maybe your parents got it wrong and they punished the wrong kid one time.

01:46:56.740 --> 01:46:59.500
It happens. Get over it.

01:46:59.500 --> 01:47:03.420
Hey, is every it doesn't say obey your parents when they're perfect,

01:47:03.420 --> 01:47:05.660
because then no one will obey.

01:47:05.660 --> 01:47:07.580
It says you just don't set them at light.

01:47:07.580 --> 01:47:09.980
You just honor them even if they were foward.

01:47:11.300 --> 01:47:12.820
Go to it back and we'll finish the chapter.

01:47:12.820 --> 01:47:15.620
I kind of emphasize that one, but I think it's an important one to emphasize,

01:47:16.620 --> 01:47:20.660
especially in today, an age culture where there's a lot of attack on parents,

01:47:20.980 --> 01:47:23.420
parental authority.

01:47:25.980 --> 01:47:30.500
It's going to destroy churches, homes, nations, states, countries, everything.

01:47:30.620 --> 01:47:34.100
And of course, it ultimately reflects on how our opinion is of God.

01:47:35.780 --> 01:47:39.140
We should never speak ill of God, go against God.

01:47:39.460 --> 01:47:41.660
Now, get he's a perfect parent.

01:47:41.660 --> 01:47:44.700
But at the end of the day, he gave authority to imperfect people.

01:47:44.900 --> 01:47:48.420
And he wants you to treat them like you would treat him.

01:47:48.420 --> 01:47:51.220
If a parent asks you to do something that's contrary to God,

01:47:51.220 --> 01:47:53.140
we ought to obey God rather than man.

01:47:53.140 --> 01:47:55.420
But that's really your only exception.

01:47:55.420 --> 01:47:58.380
Your only exception is to obey God over man.

01:47:58.540 --> 01:48:01.260
But you know what? Partly obeying God is still honoring your parents.

01:48:02.340 --> 01:48:04.340
And not setting it like your parents.

01:48:04.340 --> 01:48:07.100
Someone that's going out, cursing their parents, making light,

01:48:07.100 --> 01:48:09.260
attacking them, whatever is always wrong.

01:48:09.260 --> 01:48:11.060
And I'll never support it.

01:48:12.860 --> 01:48:14.500
Says here in verse number 17,

01:48:14.500 --> 01:48:18.220
cursed to be that removed his neighbor's landmark and all the people will say,

01:48:18.420 --> 01:48:21.820
Amen. We talked about that in another chapter.

01:48:21.820 --> 01:48:24.340
But again, a lot of these things are reminders.

01:48:24.660 --> 01:48:27.460
Cursed to be that make it the blind to wander out of the way.

01:48:27.900 --> 01:48:29.500
And all the people will say, Amen.

01:48:29.500 --> 01:48:31.380
You know, I think this could be thinking about church.

01:48:31.380 --> 01:48:34.460
How many churches are damning the lost?

01:48:34.460 --> 01:48:35.780
There's people that are lost.

01:48:35.780 --> 01:48:38.780
And with their false doctrine, they're causing them to go out of the way

01:48:38.780 --> 01:48:41.100
even further or to get lost even more.

01:48:41.540 --> 01:48:44.380
Cursed to be that perverted the judgment of the stranger, fatherless and widow.

01:48:44.540 --> 01:48:46.820
And all the people will say, Amen.

01:48:46.820 --> 01:48:50.140
Again, the Pharisees and the Sadducees love to take advantage of these people.

01:48:50.500 --> 01:48:52.580
A lot of false religions take advantage of the weak.

01:48:52.980 --> 01:48:55.900
The wolves love to prey on the weak.

01:48:55.940 --> 01:48:57.980
Says cursed to be that live with his father's wife

01:48:58.380 --> 01:49:00.540
because he has uncovered his father's skirt.

01:49:00.900 --> 01:49:02.260
And all the people still say, Amen.

01:49:02.260 --> 01:49:04.780
Hey, here's another verse telling you again, the wife's of what?

01:49:06.580 --> 01:49:07.500
Oh, a skirt.

01:49:07.500 --> 01:49:10.260
Oh, the Bible never you wears a skirt and pants.

01:49:10.420 --> 01:49:12.860
It's like, what's right here?

01:49:13.700 --> 01:49:16.020
It literally is calling a woman a skirt.

01:49:16.020 --> 01:49:19.580
Fact. He's not wearing a skirt.

01:49:19.860 --> 01:49:21.940
His wife's wearing the skirt, right?

01:49:21.940 --> 01:49:24.180
Cursed to be that life with any manner of beasts.

01:49:24.180 --> 01:49:26.420
And all the people still say, Amen.

01:49:27.460 --> 01:49:31.860
I would if you if your dad has a skirt and you wear it, you're also cursed.

01:49:31.860 --> 01:49:33.460
All right. I'm just going to say that. All right.

01:49:33.460 --> 01:49:35.940
We have to say that in America now.

01:49:35.940 --> 01:49:38.380
Curse me that lie to the sister, the daughter of his father

01:49:38.380 --> 01:49:40.380
or the daughter of his mother and all appeals to say, Amen.

01:49:41.140 --> 01:49:43.860
Curse would be that lie to his mother in law and all appeals to say, Amen.

01:49:44.100 --> 01:49:46.620
So and partly you could argue that, hey, genetically speaking,

01:49:46.620 --> 01:49:48.180
you shouldn't marry close of kin.

01:49:48.180 --> 01:49:51.140
But a mother in law is not necessarily someone that you should marry either,

01:49:51.420 --> 01:49:53.300
even though it's not a genetic argument.

01:49:53.300 --> 01:49:54.220
It's just perversion.

01:49:54.220 --> 01:49:56.140
And God doesn't want this kind of thing to happen.

01:49:56.380 --> 01:49:58.740
And so there should be some distance here.

01:49:58.940 --> 01:50:02.020
And you should not every relationship is the right relationship.

01:50:02.700 --> 01:50:05.220
Says here in verse number 24,

01:50:05.220 --> 01:50:07.700
cursed to be that smite of his neighbor secretly.

01:50:07.980 --> 01:50:09.540
And all the people still say, Amen.

01:50:09.540 --> 01:50:12.340
Again, you know, you could smite your neighbor

01:50:12.700 --> 01:50:16.100
if he broke into your house and he's trying to steal your stuff.

01:50:16.540 --> 01:50:17.740
And you could kill him.

01:50:17.740 --> 01:50:20.300
But the secretly is implying you're murdering him, killing him,

01:50:20.300 --> 01:50:21.740
doing something with Guile.

01:50:21.780 --> 01:50:25.100
Saying your curse would be that take of the reward to slain this person.

01:50:25.340 --> 01:50:26.820
And all appeals to say, Amen.

01:50:26.820 --> 01:50:28.500
Again, notice it's an innocent person.

01:50:28.500 --> 01:50:33.260
Obviously, the executioner for a state can get paid to do executions,

01:50:33.460 --> 01:50:36.220
but is not executing innocent persons.

01:50:36.500 --> 01:50:39.220
This will be talking about first degree homicide, murder,

01:50:39.500 --> 01:50:41.620
slaying people that are innocent.

01:50:41.620 --> 01:50:44.620
Oh, you mean like the nation of Israel

01:50:44.820 --> 01:50:47.220
slaughtering women and babies in Gaza?

01:50:48.740 --> 01:50:49.220
Hmm.

01:50:50.500 --> 01:50:51.180
How does that work?

01:50:51.180 --> 01:50:54.660
Oh, they're just blessed by God because Abraham.

01:50:55.140 --> 01:50:57.100
Aren't aren't all these people of Abraham?

01:50:58.500 --> 01:51:00.780
How is it that these people are of Abraham?

01:51:01.060 --> 01:51:03.660
And if they slay innocent people, they're cursed.

01:51:04.060 --> 01:51:06.660
How is it that half of these tribes are cursed?

01:51:06.900 --> 01:51:10.180
Yet today, I'm supposed to believe that the nation of Israel

01:51:10.180 --> 01:51:13.140
is just blessed no matter what.

01:51:13.140 --> 01:51:16.780
Hey, if they slay innocent people, they're cursed, period.

01:51:16.780 --> 01:51:17.620
Yeah.

01:51:18.620 --> 01:51:21.180
You know, it's sick how our world thinks today,

01:51:21.580 --> 01:51:23.900
sick how Zionism teaches lies today.

01:51:25.140 --> 01:51:26.900
Says here in verse 26,

01:51:26.900 --> 01:51:29.980
curse would be that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them

01:51:29.980 --> 01:51:31.820
and all the people to say, Amen.

01:51:31.820 --> 01:51:34.180
So Galatians chapter three brings this up.

01:51:34.500 --> 01:51:37.740
You break any commandment in the law, you're cursed.

01:51:38.180 --> 01:51:40.700
Again, contextually, how do we understand this?

01:51:41.620 --> 01:51:45.740
If you break any law, you're under the curse of the law, which is death and hell.

01:51:47.420 --> 01:51:49.180
Doesn't matter how many, just one.

01:51:49.180 --> 01:51:50.740
You're under the curse of the law.

01:51:50.740 --> 01:51:53.220
You have the wrath of God abiding on you.

01:51:53.220 --> 01:51:55.380
God is patiently enduring you.

01:51:55.980 --> 01:51:59.300
And if you get saved, well, then you're not under the curse of the law.

01:51:59.580 --> 01:52:01.940
You're going to be blessed. You have eternal life.

01:52:01.940 --> 01:52:03.940
If you never get saved, you never believe.

01:52:03.940 --> 01:52:06.620
Well, you're going to go to hell and suffer God's wrath for all of eternity.

01:52:07.420 --> 01:52:10.060
And you loved he's going to love you no more.

01:52:11.660 --> 01:52:15.780
Now, for the saved Christian, once we get saved,

01:52:15.940 --> 01:52:19.380
we're no longer under the curse of the law in the sense that we can't go to hell.

01:52:20.260 --> 01:52:23.260
But that does not mean that we can't be cursed in our lives

01:52:23.460 --> 01:52:25.620
and we can't be punished in our lives.

01:52:26.420 --> 01:52:29.620
And I believe that we have to understand these principles in their correlation.

01:52:29.620 --> 01:52:31.620
Some people believe, and I've heard this taught,

01:52:31.620 --> 01:52:33.820
that a Christian could never be cursed in any context.

01:52:34.460 --> 01:52:35.740
And I don't believe that.

01:52:35.740 --> 01:52:39.620
I believe that you can be cursed when you go too far.

01:52:39.660 --> 01:52:41.140
And you say, where is that?

01:52:41.140 --> 01:52:42.420
Again, I think that you have to look.

01:52:42.420 --> 01:52:43.860
It's kind of these mountains again.

01:52:43.900 --> 01:52:45.900
And that's why I emphasize that point for a long time.

01:52:46.300 --> 01:52:48.020
Obviously, none of us is perfect.

01:52:48.020 --> 01:52:51.780
I don't believe that, man, you just do one thing wrong.

01:52:52.020 --> 01:52:55.700
You miss one service or something and God's going to strike you dead.

01:52:56.020 --> 01:52:58.820
No, you're probably still on the mountain.

01:52:58.820 --> 01:53:01.300
But boy, I do not believe you can just start taking steps

01:53:01.300 --> 01:53:03.180
in the wrong direction forever.

01:53:03.180 --> 01:53:05.340
And you're not going to start having the curse of God in your life.

01:53:05.940 --> 01:53:10.180
I do not believe you can just get out of church and stop reading your Bible

01:53:10.180 --> 01:53:13.380
and stop going soul winning and just start lying

01:53:13.500 --> 01:53:16.980
and stealing and being wicked and drinking alcohol

01:53:17.060 --> 01:53:20.900
and committing fornication and committing adultery and doing drugs.

01:53:20.940 --> 01:53:23.140
And just just over and over just repeatedly.

01:53:23.180 --> 01:53:26.460
And there's going to be no punishment, no consequence, no curse in your life.

01:53:26.620 --> 01:53:28.740
No, I believe God can bring down the hammer in your life.

01:53:29.740 --> 01:53:33.420
That's why it's good to keep going to church and read your Bible and doing good.

01:53:33.580 --> 01:53:36.020
It's three to thrive.

01:53:36.700 --> 01:53:38.980
It's two to survive.

01:53:39.500 --> 01:53:41.420
It's one to backslide.

01:53:41.420 --> 01:53:42.180
Why do I say that?

01:53:42.180 --> 01:53:44.820
It's just an old adage that was handed down to me.

01:53:45.300 --> 01:53:46.260
I didn't come up with it.

01:53:46.260 --> 01:53:48.580
I heard it and I said, I like that.

01:53:48.580 --> 01:53:49.060
And you know what?

01:53:49.060 --> 01:53:51.900
Unfortunately, it seems generally true.

01:53:52.940 --> 01:53:57.540
Now, there's some people that come to our church once a week, Sunday morning,

01:53:57.940 --> 01:54:00.540
and they seem to have generally pretty good lives.

01:54:01.100 --> 01:54:03.380
You know, they're they're going soul winning occasionally.

01:54:03.580 --> 01:54:05.500
They come to church just once a week or whatever.

01:54:05.500 --> 01:54:07.900
So I'm not saying they're not on Mount Gerizim.

01:54:08.860 --> 01:54:09.900
But you know what?

01:54:09.900 --> 01:54:13.220
They're not that far from switching mountains either.

01:54:13.380 --> 01:54:15.860
And I just I just don't want to live on the edge.

01:54:16.580 --> 01:54:18.780
I just don't want to be at the base of the mountain.

01:54:19.140 --> 01:54:21.460
I want to be at the top of the mountain.

01:54:21.460 --> 01:54:24.540
OK, you just don't see people reading the Bible three times a week,

01:54:24.780 --> 01:54:27.420
going soul winning all the time and memorizing the scripture

01:54:27.580 --> 01:54:31.380
and just following all the commandments to the T, just like randomly,

01:54:31.380 --> 01:54:34.100
just trashing their life.

01:54:34.100 --> 01:54:38.740
But you do see people hanging on the edge, easily missing a few weeks

01:54:38.740 --> 01:54:40.820
and months and then getting backslidden, not really about it.

01:54:40.820 --> 01:54:42.540
And then they fade away.

01:54:42.540 --> 01:54:44.860
And then it's just a train wreck.

01:54:44.860 --> 01:54:48.500
I can't I mean, I emphasize this a lot, but I'm just telling you,

01:54:48.620 --> 01:54:51.020
I'm not saying that you can point to everyone literally,

01:54:51.020 --> 01:54:55.540
but I've just seen so many people just divorce and adultery

01:54:55.540 --> 01:55:00.340
and drugs and death and skin diseases no one's ever heard of.

01:55:00.340 --> 01:55:03.020
You know, just I mean, just all kinds of crazy stuff.

01:55:04.540 --> 01:55:07.300
And again, you say like, oh, well, that's anecdotal.

01:55:07.540 --> 01:55:09.540
Yeah. But again, I just take the mountaintop view.

01:55:11.500 --> 01:55:15.260
Take the mountaintop view in your life and just realize, hey,

01:55:15.260 --> 01:55:18.300
there's real blessings and real cursing to following God's commandments.

01:55:18.500 --> 01:55:20.580
It's really important.

01:55:20.580 --> 01:55:21.820
There's no neutral ground.

01:55:21.820 --> 01:55:23.700
Neutral ground doesn't exist.

01:55:23.700 --> 01:55:26.300
You're either taking steps in a good direction or you're taking steps

01:55:26.300 --> 01:55:27.460
in a bad direction.

01:55:27.460 --> 01:55:32.220
And let us try our best to take as many steps as we can in the right direction

01:55:32.660 --> 01:55:35.620
so that God can bless us the most that he can.

01:55:36.260 --> 01:55:37.700
It's closing prayer.

01:55:37.700 --> 01:55:41.220
Thank you, Father, so much for this great chapter, for these great illustrations.

01:55:41.220 --> 01:55:45.580
I pray that you would help us to greatly appreciate your commandments

01:55:45.580 --> 01:55:49.620
to not make the light of them, that we take them seriously.

01:55:50.020 --> 01:55:53.300
I pray that you would be gracious to us and that you'd be merciful to us

01:55:53.300 --> 01:55:55.460
and that you continue to bless us, even though we're not perfect.

01:55:55.740 --> 01:55:58.580
I pray that you'd help us to continue to take steps in the right direction.

01:55:59.060 --> 01:56:01.980
And I pray that you would just allow our church to be greatly blessed,

01:56:02.260 --> 01:56:04.540
to give you honor and glory in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

01:56:05.620 --> 01:56:10.620
Amen.

01:56:10.900 --> 01:56:13.900
Our last song this evening, page 37 in your hymn books.

01:56:14.540 --> 01:56:17.940
There will be no dark valley.

01:56:19.020 --> 01:56:22.340
Song number 37, there'll be no dark valley.

01:56:27.460 --> 01:56:31.420
Page 37, let's all sing it out now on the first.

01:56:32.060 --> 01:56:33.260
There'll be no

01:56:33.260 --> 01:56:46.260
No dark valley when Jesus comes.

01:56:46.260 --> 01:57:00.260
Together his love once more.

01:57:00.260 --> 01:57:19.260
There'll be no more sorrow when Jesus comes.

01:57:19.260 --> 01:57:24.260
No dark glorious sorrow when Jesus comes.

01:57:24.260 --> 01:57:37.260
Together his love once more.

01:57:37.260 --> 01:57:42.260
There'll be no dark valley when Jesus comes.

01:57:42.260 --> 01:57:47.260
Together his love once more.

01:57:47.260 --> 01:57:56.260
There'll be no more weeping when Jesus comes.

01:57:56.260 --> 01:58:01.260
But a blessed every weeping when Jesus comes.

01:58:01.260 --> 01:58:15.260
Together his love once more.

01:58:15.260 --> 01:58:20.260
There'll be no dark valley when Jesus comes.

01:58:20.260 --> 01:58:24.260
Together his love once more.

01:58:24.260 --> 01:58:34.260
There'll be songs of weeping when Jesus comes.

01:58:34.260 --> 01:58:38.260
And a joyful weeping when Jesus comes.

01:58:38.260 --> 01:58:43.260
Together his love once more.

01:58:43.260 --> 01:58:52.260
Together his love once more.

01:58:52.260 --> 01:58:57.260
There'll be no dark valley when Jesus comes.

01:58:57.260 --> 01:59:01.260
Together his love once more.

01:59:01.260 --> 01:59:04.260
Great singing, have a great evening, you're dismissed.

01:59:31.260 --> 01:59:33.260
Thank you for watching!

02:00:01.260 --> 02:00:03.260
Thank you for watching!
