WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:12.000
The way of the cross I need, the way of the cross we go, the way of the cross we go.

00:12.000 --> 00:23.000
It is sweet to know as I all were grown, the way of the cross we go.

00:23.000 --> 00:31.000
My misdeeds go on in the cross, with the way, the path, and the Savior's love.

00:31.000 --> 00:39.000
If I ever find to hide someone, when my soul is full with pride,

00:39.000 --> 00:47.000
the way of the cross we go, the way of the cross we go.

00:47.000 --> 00:58.000
It is sweet to know as I all were grown, the way of the cross we go.

00:58.000 --> 01:06.000
Can I bid farewell to the way of the world, to love in evermore?

01:06.000 --> 01:15.000
Though my Lord says, Come and I seek my own, when we wait at the open door,

01:15.000 --> 01:23.000
the way of the cross we go, the way of the cross we go.

01:23.000 --> 01:36.000
It is sweet to know as I all were grown, the way of the cross we go.

01:36.000 --> 01:45.000
Whosoever he may shout, shout his sound, spread the last design, eat all the world around,

01:45.000 --> 01:54.000
from hell to life, from years, where ever man is bound, whosoever will may come.

01:54.000 --> 02:02.000
Whosoever will, whosoever will, send an inclination over male and female,

02:02.000 --> 02:10.000
he's a loving father and cause of wonder of all, whosoever will may come.

02:10.000 --> 02:19.000
Whosoever come, let me not delay, now the door is open and true while you lay,

02:19.000 --> 02:27.000
Jesus is the truth, he opened every way, whosoever will may come.

02:28.000 --> 02:36.000
Whosoever will, whosoever will, send an inclination over male and female,

02:36.000 --> 02:43.000
he's a loving father and cause of wonder of all, whosoever will may come.

02:43.000 --> 02:49.000
On the last now, whosoever will, the promise is secure,

02:49.000 --> 03:01.000
whosoever will forever best endure, whosoever will design forever more, whosoever will may come.

03:01.000 --> 03:10.000
Whosoever will, whosoever will, send an inclination over male and female,

03:10.000 --> 03:20.000
he's a loving father and cause of wonder of all, whosoever will may come.

03:20.000 --> 03:28.000
On Jordan's north, he hangs high, stand and cast a wishful eye,

03:28.000 --> 03:36.000
to David's fair and happy land where my possessions lie,

03:36.000 --> 03:44.000
I am bound for the promised land, I am bound for the promised land,

03:44.000 --> 03:52.000
though he will come and go with me, I am bound for the promised land.

03:52.000 --> 04:00.000
All o'er those fire-extended plains shines the eternal day,

04:00.000 --> 04:08.000
there God the Son forever reigns and scatters light away,

04:08.000 --> 04:16.000
I am bound for the promised land, I am bound for the promised land,

04:16.000 --> 04:24.000
though he will come and go with me, I am bound for the promised land.

04:24.000 --> 04:32.000
No chilly things are poisonous, red with wings that help the shore,

04:32.000 --> 04:40.000
sickness, strength, sorrow, pain and death are felt and near no more,

04:40.000 --> 04:48.000
I am bound for the promised land, I am bound for the promised land,

04:48.000 --> 04:56.000
though he will come and go with me, I am bound for the promised land.

04:56.000 --> 05:04.000
When shall I reach a happy place and be forever blessed?

05:04.000 --> 05:12.000
When shall I see my Father's face and in his bosom rest?

05:12.000 --> 05:20.000
I am bound for the promised land, I am bound for the promised land,

05:20.000 --> 05:30.000
though he will come and go with me, I am bound for the promised land.

05:30.000 --> 05:40.000
When peace by the river was end in my way,

05:40.000 --> 05:46.000
when sorrow's light see in billows flowed,

05:46.000 --> 05:56.000
but ever my heart now has God be to say,

05:56.000 --> 06:06.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

06:06.000 --> 06:16.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

06:16.000 --> 06:26.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

06:26.000 --> 06:36.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

06:36.000 --> 06:44.000
He tends to love me, though trials to come,

06:44.000 --> 06:52.000
let this blessed assurance control

06:52.000 --> 07:01.000
that I am happy are in my helplessness,

07:01.000 --> 07:13.000
that I am saved and have shed his own life for my soul.

07:13.000 --> 07:25.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

07:25.000 --> 07:43.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

07:43.000 --> 07:53.000
I sing, O the bliss of this glorious song,

07:53.000 --> 08:07.000
I sing, I inquire that the Lord is built in the cross

08:07.000 --> 08:27.000
and I bear with the Lord, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul.

08:27.000 --> 08:41.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

08:41.000 --> 09:01.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

09:01.000 --> 09:15.000
And Lord, is the day when my faith shall be signed,

09:15.000 --> 09:25.000
the cloud be rolled back as a strong,

09:25.000 --> 09:37.000
the strong shall be downed, and the Lord shall descend,

09:37.000 --> 09:53.000
He has so, He is well with my soul.

09:53.000 --> 10:09.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

10:09.000 --> 10:33.000
He is well, He is well with my soul.

10:33.000 --> 10:38.000
One in the sunlight all of my journey

10:38.000 --> 10:43.000
over the mountains through the decay,

10:43.000 --> 10:48.000
Jesus has said, I'll never forsake thee,

10:48.000 --> 10:53.000
promise divine that never can fail.

10:53.000 --> 10:58.000
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,

10:58.000 --> 11:03.000
flooding my soul with glory divine.

11:03.000 --> 11:08.000
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,

11:08.000 --> 11:13.000
singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

11:13.000 --> 11:18.000
Shadows around me, shadows above me,

11:18.000 --> 11:23.000
never conceal my Savior and guide.

11:23.000 --> 11:28.000
He is the light, in Him is no darkness,

11:28.000 --> 11:33.000
never I'm walking close to His side.

11:33.000 --> 11:38.000
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,

11:38.000 --> 11:43.000
flooding my soul with glory divine.

11:43.000 --> 11:48.000
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,

11:48.000 --> 11:53.000
singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

11:53.000 --> 11:58.000
In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing,

11:58.000 --> 12:03.000
resting my way to mansions above.

12:03.000 --> 12:08.000
Singing His praises, heavenly I'm walking,

12:08.000 --> 12:13.000
walking in sunlight, sunlight above.

12:13.000 --> 12:18.000
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,

12:18.000 --> 12:23.000
flooding my soul with glory divine.

12:23.000 --> 12:28.000
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,

12:28.000 --> 12:33.000
singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

12:33.000 --> 12:38.000
I am happy to be with you,

12:38.000 --> 12:43.000
Jesus is mine.

13:08.000 --> 13:13.000
Forever, surely meeteth me,

13:13.000 --> 13:18.000
whatsoever meeteth me.

13:18.000 --> 13:23.000
All my hopes have been raised, so His name be praised.

13:23.000 --> 13:28.000
His glory has filled my soul,

13:28.000 --> 13:33.000
I've been lifted up ever since and free,

13:33.000 --> 13:38.000
forever, surely meeteth me,

13:38.000 --> 13:43.000
forever, surely meeteth me.

13:43.000 --> 13:48.000
Oh, what wonderful love, oh what grace,

13:48.000 --> 13:53.000
the invite that Jesus should die for me.

13:53.000 --> 13:58.000
I was lost in sin, for the world I've died,

13:58.000 --> 14:03.000
but now I am set free.

14:03.000 --> 14:08.000
Forever, surely meeteth me,

14:08.000 --> 14:13.000
oh, surely meeteth me.

14:13.000 --> 14:18.000
Forever, surely meeteth me,

14:18.000 --> 14:21.000
oh, surely meeteth me.

14:21.000 --> 14:26.000
On Calvary's mountain, what dreadful morn,

14:26.000 --> 14:31.000
what Christ my Savior, weary and gone,

14:31.000 --> 14:36.000
facing poor sinners, dead on the cross,

14:36.000 --> 14:41.000
carrying my sacrament from endless dust,

14:41.000 --> 14:46.000
blessed Redeemer, precious Redeemer,

14:46.000 --> 14:51.000
seems now I see Him on Calvary's stream.

14:52.000 --> 14:57.000
Through live and bleeding, for sinners weep,

14:57.000 --> 15:02.000
by head of leading, dying for me.

15:03.000 --> 15:08.000
Father, forgive them, lest in Him reign,

15:08.000 --> 15:13.000
give all His life, blood, don't pass away.

15:14.000 --> 15:19.000
Reign, for sinners, for sinners,

15:19.000 --> 15:24.000
reign, for sinners, love and God's love.

15:25.000 --> 15:30.000
Know I'm a Jesus, that rule of saints,

15:31.000 --> 15:36.000
blessed Redeemer, precious Redeemer,

15:37.000 --> 15:42.000
seems now I see Him on Calvary's stream.

15:43.000 --> 15:48.000
Through live and bleeding, for sinners weep,

15:49.000 --> 15:54.000
by head of leading, dying for me.

15:55.000 --> 16:00.000
Oh, how I love Him, Savior and Friend,

16:01.000 --> 16:06.000
how can my praises ever find Him?

16:06.000 --> 16:11.000
For He is the Gap-Bird of Heaven's shore,

16:12.000 --> 16:17.000
I touch and praise Him forevermore.

16:18.000 --> 16:23.000
Blessed Redeemer, precious Redeemer,

16:24.000 --> 16:29.000
seems now I see Him on Calvary's stream.

16:29.000 --> 16:34.000
Through live and bleeding, for sinners weep,

16:35.000 --> 16:40.000
by head of leading, dying for me.

16:41.000 --> 16:46.000
Oh, worship the King, oh glorious of love,

16:47.000 --> 16:52.000
and praetorily sing, praise Him forevermore.

16:59.000 --> 17:04.000
His love and His love are children we thank,

17:05.000 --> 17:10.000
for the ancient grace, for the living slender and virgin.

17:13.000 --> 17:18.000
Give with grace, O tell of His might,

17:19.000 --> 17:24.000
and sing of His grace, whose love is alive,

17:24.000 --> 17:27.000
whose man of peace is,

17:28.000 --> 17:33.000
His Spirit so breath-blooding, thunder-blast forth,

17:34.000 --> 17:39.000
and our ears is well on the wings of the sea.

17:40.000 --> 17:45.000
I bow to Him for care, a tongue-filling sign,

17:46.000 --> 17:51.000
in reach in the air, in shines in the light,

17:51.000 --> 17:56.000
in streams from the sea.

18:21.000 --> 18:26.000
Song number 415,

18:27.000 --> 18:32.000
Victory Through Grace,

18:33.000 --> 18:38.000
Song number 415, let's all sing that out together.

18:39.000 --> 18:42.000
Now it's true to God's truth,

18:43.000 --> 18:46.000
I in the dream in His light,

18:46.000 --> 18:49.000
I see the hosts of all the faithful,

18:50.000 --> 18:53.000
into the midst of the fighting,

18:54.000 --> 18:57.000
I see them with fervent red and sweet,

18:58.000 --> 19:01.000
having their brilliant array,

19:02.000 --> 19:06.000
shouting the name of their leaders,

19:07.000 --> 19:10.000
in an exulting way, saying,

19:11.000 --> 19:14.000
Not to the strong is the battle,

19:14.000 --> 19:18.000
not to the swift is the race,

19:19.000 --> 19:22.000
yet to the true and the faithful,

19:23.000 --> 19:26.000
they scream from His true praise,

19:27.000 --> 19:31.000
conquering now and still to conquer,

19:32.000 --> 19:35.000
who is the wonderful King,

19:36.000 --> 19:39.000
that's what the armies raise to dream it,

19:40.000 --> 19:43.000
from His holy place to gain,

19:44.000 --> 19:47.000
He is our Lord and Redeemer,

19:48.000 --> 19:51.000
Savior and Monarch divine,

19:52.000 --> 19:55.000
they are the stars that forever,

19:56.000 --> 19:59.000
bright in His kingdom will shine,

20:00.000 --> 20:04.000
Not to the strong is the battle,

20:05.000 --> 20:08.000
not to the swift is the race,

20:09.000 --> 20:12.000
yet to the true and the faithful,

20:12.000 --> 20:16.000
they scream from His true praise,

20:17.000 --> 20:21.000
conquering now and still to conquer,

20:22.000 --> 20:25.000
Jesus our ruler of all,

20:26.000 --> 20:29.000
from His endless centers all shall perish,

20:30.000 --> 20:33.000
from His great splendor shall fall,

20:34.000 --> 20:37.000
yet to the armies how we dance,

20:38.000 --> 20:41.000
faithful and true to the plan,

20:42.000 --> 20:45.000
by His ancient eternal,

20:46.000 --> 20:49.000
rest in their warm, fairest hands,

20:50.000 --> 20:53.000
Not to the strong is the battle,

20:54.000 --> 20:57.000
not to the swift is the race,

20:58.000 --> 21:01.000
yet to the true and the faithful,

21:02.000 --> 21:06.000
His great promise to praise.

21:07.000 --> 21:10.000
Great singing everybody, let's open up the service now with a word of prayer.

21:12.000 --> 21:15.000
Lord thank you so much for this great church, thank you for allowing us all to get here safely tonight.

21:16.000 --> 21:19.000
Thank you for these awesome songs we get to sing unto you Lord.

21:20.000 --> 21:23.000
We just ask that you help us lift up our spirits, or lift up our voices as we sing unto you this afternoon.

21:24.000 --> 21:27.000
It's in Jesus name we pray, amen.

21:28.000 --> 21:31.000
Alright for our next song, let's go to song number 292.

21:38.000 --> 21:41.000
Song number 292.

21:42.000 --> 21:45.000
His way with thee.

21:46.000 --> 21:49.000
Let's all sing that together.

22:12.000 --> 22:15.000
His love can make you free.

22:16.000 --> 22:19.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

22:20.000 --> 22:23.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

22:24.000 --> 22:27.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

22:28.000 --> 22:31.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

22:32.000 --> 22:35.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

22:36.000 --> 22:39.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

22:39.000 --> 22:42.000
The peace and peace that comes by giving all.

22:43.000 --> 22:47.000
What you have in sin, you so that you can never fall.

22:48.000 --> 22:51.000
Let him have his way with thee.

22:52.000 --> 22:57.000
His love can make you what you are to be.

22:58.000 --> 23:02.000
His love can cleanse your heart and make you free.

23:03.000 --> 23:08.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

23:09.000 --> 23:15.000
What's best for him to have his way with thee.

23:16.000 --> 23:20.000
Would you win this kingdom by the grace of God's address.

23:21.000 --> 23:25.000
Would you prove it true in providential test.

23:26.000 --> 23:30.000
Would you win his service labor always at your best.

23:31.000 --> 23:35.000
Let him have his way with thee.

23:35.000 --> 23:40.000
His love can make you what you are to be.

23:41.000 --> 23:45.000
His love can cleanse your heart and make you free.

23:46.000 --> 23:51.000
His love can fill your soul and you will see.

23:52.000 --> 23:58.000
What's best for him to have his way with thee.

24:05.000 --> 24:07.000
All right, welcome everyone to Steadfast Baptist Church.

24:08.000 --> 24:12.000
If you need a bulletin, raise your hand nice and high and we'll have one of the ushers come around and get a bulletin for you.

24:13.000 --> 24:16.000
We do have there on the front our Bible memory passage.

24:17.000 --> 24:23.000
If you're under the age of 18 and can quote that to a non-family member, you can receive an ice cream treat after the service.

24:24.000 --> 24:31.000
On the inside, we do have our service times and our soul winning times along with our regional soul winning times.

24:31.000 --> 24:36.000
Down below that we do have our church stats and those are updated numbers as of today.

24:37.000 --> 24:40.000
So praise God for all the hard work that's went into soul winning.

24:41.000 --> 24:43.000
Obviously, Vangels of Panic is destroying us.

24:44.000 --> 24:47.000
I decided early this year, if you can't beat them, you just got to join them.

24:48.000 --> 24:50.000
We have a lot to do with that number too.

24:51.000 --> 24:53.000
People in our church that are able to make it out there.

24:54.000 --> 24:55.000
But hey, praise God.

24:56.000 --> 25:00.000
It doesn't really matter which church is doing the soul winning as long as it's getting done.

25:01.000 --> 25:06.000
So praise God for Vangels of Panic and the hard work his church members are doing.

25:07.000 --> 25:14.000
There on the right side, we have our expecting ladies to be in prayer for.

25:15.000 --> 25:16.000
Also, we have some upcoming events.

25:17.000 --> 25:21.000
We started the children's choir practice after the Sunday evening service.

25:22.000 --> 25:23.000
That will continue this coming Sunday.

25:24.000 --> 25:29.000
There's going to be an Aisle soul winning marathon this Saturday.

25:29.000 --> 25:34.000
I know it's kind of last second, but Brother Ryan is going to be hosting that.

25:35.000 --> 25:41.000
If you need any information on that, you can always reach out to him or you can ask me and we can get that to you.

25:42.000 --> 25:44.000
That is going to be in Aisle, Texas this Saturday.

25:45.000 --> 25:46.000
And I believe there's barbecue involved.

25:47.000 --> 25:51.000
So whenever there's free barbecue, most people are going to show up for that.

25:52.000 --> 25:54.000
So if you have an opportunity to get out there, I know he would really appreciate it.

25:54.000 --> 25:59.000
It is in memory of Ms. Natalie's grandmother passing away.

26:00.000 --> 26:03.000
So if you can make it out there, I know it would be a great encouragement to them.

26:04.000 --> 26:06.000
We have the Foley baby shower also on March 7th.

26:07.000 --> 26:12.000
And then the Carthage, Texas soul winning marathon is March 21st, a couple weeks away.

26:13.000 --> 26:18.000
The soul winning mega marathon is going to be the Saturday before Easter, April 4th.

26:19.000 --> 26:21.000
And then we'll have Easter service on April 5th.

26:21.000 --> 26:26.000
And then of course that's when our children's choirs will be performing as well.

26:27.000 --> 26:29.000
On the back, we do have a couple notes here.

26:30.000 --> 26:33.000
Some more information about the baby shower for the Foley's.

26:34.000 --> 26:36.000
So make sure that you are aware of that.

26:37.000 --> 26:39.000
If you have any questions, you can see Ms. Southered.

26:40.000 --> 26:42.000
And then we'll go through our prayer list at this time.

26:43.000 --> 26:48.000
We're going to continue to pray for Brother Tony and his back so that we continue to heal.

26:48.000 --> 26:53.000
We're continuing to pray for Brother Suhail's mother and also Brother Billy Day's mother as well.

26:54.000 --> 26:57.000
She's got pretty severe surgery that's going to be upcoming.

26:58.000 --> 26:59.000
Keep her in your thoughts.

27:00.000 --> 27:04.000
Also his cousins, Adam and Gabby, and then his son Tatum.

27:05.000 --> 27:08.000
And we're going to continue to pray for Brother Spurgeon for his job opportunity.

27:09.000 --> 27:16.000
And the Urbanic family, as I'd mentioned before, that funeral service is this Friday.

27:16.000 --> 27:17.000
So be in prayer for that.

27:18.000 --> 27:23.000
Maybe some lost family members could get saved through that service.

27:24.000 --> 27:25.000
Definitely be in prayer for that.

27:26.000 --> 27:29.000
And then also Ms. Natalie and the baby.

27:30.000 --> 27:35.000
And then we're continuing to pray for Brother Nick's brother, Elliot, for his salvation and health.

27:36.000 --> 27:38.000
And then we have Brother Brian.

27:39.000 --> 27:44.000
And he gave me an update that he's doing much better, so I'll have to get that update on the list here.

27:44.000 --> 27:47.000
But he is doing much better, so thank you for praying for him.

27:48.000 --> 27:56.000
And then also we had a request to pray for Brother Jameson as he's in the Philippines as well, kind of doing a solo mission strip there.

27:57.000 --> 27:59.000
And so at this time we'll say a quick word of prayer.

28:00.000 --> 28:01.000
Definitely follow the Lord.

28:02.000 --> 28:03.000
Thank you for all that you do for us, Lord.

28:04.000 --> 28:05.000
Thank you for this great rain that you're giving us.

28:06.000 --> 28:07.000
It's much needed.

28:08.000 --> 28:10.000
Thank you for keeping us all safe and able to get here.

28:11.000 --> 28:13.000
And God, we pray for those here on our prayer list.

28:14.000 --> 28:17.000
We have various health needs to be in prayer for.

28:18.000 --> 28:21.000
God, just pray that you would have your hand of protection about them.

28:22.000 --> 28:27.000
Lord, that you would help them through those difficult times, difficult seasons in their life.

28:28.000 --> 28:33.000
God, we pray for those that are family members that are in need of salvation.

28:34.000 --> 28:40.000
God, we pray that you would open a door unto them, that the gospel could be preached unto them.

28:40.000 --> 28:43.000
And just that their heart would be softened to hear the gospel.

28:44.000 --> 28:50.000
God, we pray for those that are going abroad and preaching the gospel and serving you.

28:51.000 --> 28:54.000
God, we pray that you keep them safe and bring them back safely as well.

28:55.000 --> 28:56.000
Lord, we are thankful for all that you do.

28:57.000 --> 28:58.000
We're thankful for your son.

28:59.000 --> 29:00.000
We pray these things in his name. Amen.

29:01.000 --> 29:01.000

29:02.000 --> 29:04.000
All right. And we'll go to our next song.

29:05.000 --> 29:06.000
Brother Dustin's going to lead us.

29:11.000 --> 29:16.000
All right. That was Psalm 126 in your black binder.

29:17.000 --> 29:18.000
Should have one nearby.

29:19.000 --> 29:20.000
If not, you can use your King James Bible.

29:21.000 --> 29:23.000
Psalm 126.

29:24.000 --> 29:26.000
Psalm 126.

29:27.000 --> 29:28.000
Let's all sing that out together.

29:29.000 --> 29:34.000
When the Lord turned to give the captivity of Zion,

29:34.000 --> 29:38.000
We were like dead that dream.

29:39.000 --> 29:43.000
Then was our mouth filled with laughter,

29:44.000 --> 29:47.000
And our tongue with singing.

29:48.000 --> 29:50.000
Since the day of month and even,

29:51.000 --> 29:53.000
The Lord has done great things for us.

29:54.000 --> 29:56.000
The Lord has done great things for us.

29:57.000 --> 30:00.000
Whereof we are clashed,

30:00.000 --> 30:03.000
Turning in our captivity,

30:04.000 --> 30:09.000
O Lord, as the streams in the south,

30:10.000 --> 30:15.000
Made us go and tears shall weep in joy.

30:16.000 --> 30:19.000
Made us go and tears shall weep in joy.

30:20.000 --> 30:22.000
Since the day of month and even,

30:23.000 --> 30:25.000
The Lord has done great things for us.

30:26.000 --> 30:27.000
The Lord has done great things for us.

30:27.000 --> 30:31.000
Whereof we are clashed,

30:32.000 --> 30:34.000
He that goeth forth from weeping,

30:35.000 --> 30:36.000
Bearing friends you see,

30:37.000 --> 30:41.000
Shall doubtless come again.

30:42.000 --> 30:46.000
Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,

30:47.000 --> 30:50.000
Bringing his sheaves with him.

30:51.000 --> 30:53.000
Then said they among the heathen,

30:54.000 --> 30:56.000
The Lord has done great things for them.

30:57.000 --> 30:59.000
The Lord has done great things for us.

31:00.000 --> 31:03.000
Whereof we are clashed.

31:04.000 --> 31:05.000
Great singing everybody.

31:06.000 --> 31:07.000
Now as the offering place are being passed around,

31:08.000 --> 31:10.000
Go ahead and open your Bibles to the book of Deuteronomy,

31:11.000 --> 31:12.000
Chapter number 20.

31:13.000 --> 31:15.000
That is Deuteronomy chapter number 20.

31:57.000 --> 31:59.000
Deuteronomy chapter number 20,

32:00.000 --> 32:01.000
The Bible reads,

32:02.000 --> 32:03.000
When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies,

32:04.000 --> 32:05.000
And seest horses and chariots,

32:06.000 --> 32:07.000
And a people more than thou,

32:08.000 --> 32:09.000
Be not afraid of them,

32:10.000 --> 32:11.000
For the Lord thy God is with thee,

32:12.000 --> 32:13.000
Which brought thee out of the land of Egypt.

32:14.000 --> 32:15.000
And it shall be when ye come nigh into the battle,

32:16.000 --> 32:17.000
That the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,

32:18.000 --> 32:19.000
And shall say unto them,

32:20.000 --> 32:21.000
Hear O Israel, ye approach this day

32:22.000 --> 32:23.000
Into the battle against your enemies.

32:24.000 --> 32:25.000
Let not your hearts faint, fear not,

32:25.000 --> 32:26.000
And do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them.

32:27.000 --> 32:28.000
For the Lord your God is he that goeth with you

32:29.000 --> 32:30.000
To fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

32:31.000 --> 32:32.000
And the officers shall speak unto the people,

32:33.000 --> 32:34.000
Saying, What man is there that hath built a new house,

32:35.000 --> 32:36.000
And hath not dedicated it?

32:37.000 --> 32:38.000
Let him go and return to his house,

32:39.000 --> 32:40.000
Unless he die in the battle,

32:41.000 --> 32:42.000
And another man dedicate it.

32:43.000 --> 32:44.000
And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard,

32:45.000 --> 32:46.000
And hath not yet eaten of it?

32:47.000 --> 32:48.000
Let him also go and return unto his house,

32:49.000 --> 32:50.000
Unless he die in the battle,

32:51.000 --> 32:52.000
And another man eat of it.

32:53.000 --> 32:54.000
And what man is there that hath planted a vineyard,

32:55.000 --> 32:56.000
And hath not yet eaten of it?

32:57.000 --> 32:58.000
Let him also go and return unto his house,

32:59.000 --> 33:00.000
Unless he die in the battle,

33:01.000 --> 33:02.000
And another man dedicate it.

33:03.000 --> 33:04.000
And the officers shall speak further unto the people,

33:05.000 --> 33:06.000
And they shall say,

33:07.000 --> 33:08.000
What man is there that is fearful and faint-hearted?

33:09.000 --> 33:10.000
Let him go and return unto his house,

33:11.000 --> 33:14.000
Lest his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart.

33:15.000 --> 33:17.000
And it shall be when the officers have made an end

33:18.000 --> 33:19.000
Of speaking unto the people,

33:20.000 --> 33:21.000
That they shall make captains of the armies

33:22.000 --> 33:23.000
To lead the people.

33:23.000 --> 33:24.000
Let them asnigh unto a city to fight against it,

33:25.000 --> 33:26.000
Then proclaim peace unto it.

33:27.000 --> 33:29.000
And it shall be, if it make the answer of peace,

33:30.000 --> 33:31.000
And open unto thee,

33:32.000 --> 33:33.000
Then it shall be that all the people that is found therein

33:34.000 --> 33:35.000
Shall be tributaries unto thee,

33:36.000 --> 33:37.000
And they shall serve thee.

33:38.000 --> 33:39.000
And if it will make no peace with thee,

33:40.000 --> 33:41.000
But will make war against thee,

33:42.000 --> 33:43.000
Then thou shalt besiege it.

33:44.000 --> 33:45.000
And when the Lord thy God hath delivered it into thine hands,

33:46.000 --> 33:47.000
Thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword,

33:48.000 --> 33:49.000
But the women and the little ones and the cattle,

33:50.000 --> 33:51.000
And all that is in the city,

33:51.000 --> 33:52.000
And all the spoil thereof,

33:53.000 --> 33:54.000
Shalt thou take unto thyself.

33:55.000 --> 33:56.000
And thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies,

33:57.000 --> 33:58.000
Which the Lord thy God hath given thee.

33:59.000 --> 34:02.000
Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee,

34:03.000 --> 34:04.000
Which are not of the cities of these nations.

34:05.000 --> 34:06.000
But of the cities of these people,

34:07.000 --> 34:08.000
Which the Lord thy God doth give thee for an inheritance,

34:09.000 --> 34:11.000
Thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth.

34:12.000 --> 34:13.000
But thou shalt utterly destroy them,

34:14.000 --> 34:15.000
Namely the Hittites and the Amorites and the Canaanites

34:16.000 --> 34:18.000
And the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites,

34:19.000 --> 34:20.000
As the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.

34:21.000 --> 34:23.000
For they teach you not to do after all their abominations,

34:24.000 --> 34:25.000
Which they have done unto their God,

34:26.000 --> 34:27.000
So should ye sin against the Lord your God.

34:28.000 --> 34:29.000
When thou shalt besiege a city a long time,

34:30.000 --> 34:31.000
And making war against it to take it,

34:32.000 --> 34:34.000
Thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof,

34:35.000 --> 34:36.000
By forcing the axe against them.

34:37.000 --> 34:38.000
For thou mayest eat of them,

34:39.000 --> 34:40.000
And thou shalt not cut them down.

34:41.000 --> 34:42.000
For the tree of the field is a man's life,

34:43.000 --> 34:44.000
To employ thee in the siege.

34:45.000 --> 34:47.000
Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat,

34:48.000 --> 34:49.000
Thou shalt destroy and cut them down.

34:49.000 --> 34:50.000
And thou shalt make bulwarks against the city

34:51.000 --> 34:52.000
That maketh war with thee until it be subdued.

34:53.000 --> 34:54.000
Let us pray.

34:55.000 --> 34:56.000
Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to be in church, Lord.

34:57.000 --> 34:59.000
Thank you for all the soul winning and all the souls that are getting saved.

35:00.000 --> 35:01.000
I just pray that you bless Pastor Shelley,

35:02.000 --> 35:03.000
Fill him with the Holy Spirit to preach your word unto us,

35:04.000 --> 35:05.000
Help us to receive it, and apply it in our lives to become better Christians.

35:06.000 --> 35:07.000
Praise in Jesus' name, Amen.

35:08.000 --> 35:09.000
Amen.

35:10.000 --> 35:12.000
Deuteronomy chapter 20 is focusing in on war efforts

35:13.000 --> 35:15.000
And the strategy that the children of Isis are to embody.

35:15.000 --> 35:16.000
When taking over the promised land.

35:17.000 --> 35:19.000
And so it's identifying here in verse one battle situations.

35:20.000 --> 35:21.000
It says in verse one,

35:22.000 --> 35:23.000
When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies,

35:24.000 --> 35:26.000
And seest horses and chariots and a people more than thou,

35:27.000 --> 35:29.000
Be not afraid of them, for the Lord thy God is with thee,

35:30.000 --> 35:31.000
Which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

35:32.000 --> 35:33.000
Now, I'm not going to go to the verse,

35:34.000 --> 35:35.000
But the Bible talks about how God was even,

35:36.000 --> 35:37.000
He was not afraid of the people of Egypt.

35:38.000 --> 35:39.000
And so he was not afraid of the people of Egypt.

35:40.000 --> 35:41.000
And so he was not afraid of the people of Egypt.

35:42.000 --> 35:43.000
And so he was not afraid of the people of Egypt.

35:43.000 --> 35:44.000
And so the Bible talks about how God was even worried

35:45.000 --> 35:48.000
That the children of Israel would repent in their hearts

35:49.000 --> 35:50.000
Once they saw warfare.

35:51.000 --> 35:55.000
And just basically that there is a legitimate fear of warfare

35:56.000 --> 36:00.000
And a lot of people can become very afraid during the actual battle,

36:01.000 --> 36:03.000
During the actual conflict, seeing people killed.

36:04.000 --> 36:05.000
It's very gruesome.

36:06.000 --> 36:07.000
And anybody that still has a conscience,

36:08.000 --> 36:10.000
Or has not been just defiled by a reprobate mind,

36:10.000 --> 36:12.000
Still has great empathy for seeing someone slaughtered,

36:13.000 --> 36:14.000
Or injured, or hurt.

36:15.000 --> 36:16.000
It's definitely very gruesome.

36:17.000 --> 36:19.000
I think with Hollywood movies and video games,

36:20.000 --> 36:21.000
Sometimes we can be desensitized to that.

36:22.000 --> 36:24.000
Someone who is in a medical profession,

36:25.000 --> 36:27.000
Where they see a lot of people that are constantly injured,

36:28.000 --> 36:30.000
Can sometimes become desensitized to these things.

36:31.000 --> 36:34.000
But for most people, just seeing just bloodshed,

36:35.000 --> 36:37.000
And someone being slaughtered, and just death,

36:38.000 --> 36:39.000
And all these kind of things,

36:40.000 --> 36:42.000
Causes us to typically become squeamish,

36:43.000 --> 36:44.000
And fearful, and afraid.

36:45.000 --> 36:47.000
And just the thought of fighting,

36:48.000 --> 36:50.000
Or the thought of battle, sometimes scares people.

36:51.000 --> 36:54.000
And he's basically painting this picture that when you're going to go out to war,

36:55.000 --> 36:57.000
In many cases, you're going to possibly be outnumbered.

36:58.000 --> 37:00.000
They're going to have strong forces against you.

37:01.000 --> 37:03.000
They're going to have horses, chariots.

37:04.000 --> 37:06.000
You know, potentially also there's going to be situations

37:06.000 --> 37:08.000
Where the soldiers themselves are intimidating.

37:09.000 --> 37:10.000
They're sizely.

37:11.000 --> 37:13.000
You know, the Bible talks about giants being among some of the Canaanites.

37:14.000 --> 37:16.000
And God is just trying to say, like, don't be afraid.

37:17.000 --> 37:19.000
Don't be afraid in this situation.

37:20.000 --> 37:22.000
And why is he having to say this?

37:23.000 --> 37:25.000
Because the natural tendency would be to be afraid.

37:26.000 --> 37:28.000
Be afraid just to fight in general, let alone to be outnumbered.

37:29.000 --> 37:33.000
Let alone to go against chariots, and giants, and just all these different forces.

37:33.000 --> 37:37.000
And you just have to understand that war itself, not everybody can really handle it.

37:38.000 --> 37:41.000
Not everybody is going to have the same type of reaction.

37:42.000 --> 37:44.000
And a lot of people are going to be afraid.

37:45.000 --> 37:48.000
And it's important that the children of Israel prepare themselves.

37:49.000 --> 37:52.000
And that when they go to war, they're not going to allow fear to destroy them.

37:53.000 --> 37:56.000
In case, you know, a lot of times you lose a battle just simply out of fear.

37:57.000 --> 37:59.000
It's not even necessarily that you couldn't win the battle.

38:00.000 --> 38:02.000
It's just because you're afraid.

38:03.000 --> 38:04.000
And that's why you want to be afraid.

38:05.000 --> 38:06.000
Confidence is a big thing.

38:07.000 --> 38:09.000
And, you know, this is a big thing in all areas of life.

38:10.000 --> 38:15.000
You know, sports, a lot of times, it's a big and important factor to not get intimidated, to be fearful.

38:16.000 --> 38:21.000
You know, to have a lot of confidence is important when you're going to succeed in competing or performing at a high level.

38:22.000 --> 38:23.000
Same would be in warfare.

38:24.000 --> 38:32.000
That in warfare, when a foe is very timid or afraid, it can have dire consequences on the battlefield and in some kind of a conflict.

38:33.000 --> 38:34.000
You don't want to have confidence.

38:35.000 --> 38:36.000
You don't want to go out there and be afraid or be timid or be shy.

38:37.000 --> 38:39.000
So these are just concepts that God is giving to them.

38:40.000 --> 38:43.000
And these are definitely applicable to any warlike scenario today.

38:44.000 --> 38:49.000
If you were to have a battle today, you want to make sure that you're not going to battle afraid.

38:50.000 --> 38:52.000
You're basically already setting yourself up for failure.

38:53.000 --> 38:58.000
You need to be going out to the battle, not being afraid, not being intimidated, basically willing to die.

38:59.000 --> 39:02.000
If you're not willing to die, then you're basically going to be afraid.

39:03.000 --> 39:06.000
And he's going to kind of explain like different scenarios here that are important.

39:07.000 --> 39:08.000
And this is what I think is fascinating.

39:09.000 --> 39:10.000
They're about to go to literal carnal warfare.

39:11.000 --> 39:19.000
I mean, in the Old Testament, they went to real warfare, bloodshed, really slaughtering people and say, hey, this is a very important job.

39:20.000 --> 39:21.000
We need to make sure no one's afraid.

39:22.000 --> 39:24.000
So who do they pick to make sure no one gets afraid?

39:25.000 --> 39:27.000
Who do they assign to basically rally the troops?

39:28.000 --> 39:29.000
The priest.

39:30.000 --> 39:31.000
Notice that they're a very religious group.

39:31.000 --> 39:37.000
Notice that they think the preacher is the one to actually keep the troops in line, even in a carnal warfare.

39:38.000 --> 39:44.000
It says here in verse number two, and it shall be when you're come nigh into the battle that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people.

39:45.000 --> 39:47.000
So notice again, it's the priest that's kind of reminding them.

39:48.000 --> 39:58.000
Why? Because the priest is the one that's trying to have, have them have the courage and faith that God is going to deliver them, that God is going to be with them, that God is on their side.

39:58.000 --> 40:01.000
Who would want to enter into battle or war when God's not on your side?

40:02.000 --> 40:04.000
It doesn't really matter how many foes you have.

40:05.000 --> 40:06.000
Doesn't matter who's against you.

40:07.000 --> 40:08.000
It matters if God is for you or not.

40:09.000 --> 40:11.000
That's the most important aspect to any war, to any battle.

40:12.000 --> 40:17.000
Even if it's a carnal warfare, even if it's a physical battle, you want to make sure God is on your side.

40:18.000 --> 40:19.000
Now, what is the preacher?

40:20.000 --> 40:21.000
What is the priest supposed to say?

40:22.000 --> 40:25.000
And he shall say unto them, hero Israel, you approach this day and the battle against your enemies.

40:25.000 --> 40:31.000
Let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be terrified because of them.

40:32.000 --> 40:37.000
For the Lord your God is he that goeth with you to fight for you against your enemies to save you.

40:38.000 --> 40:40.000
Notice he's saying the thing that's going to save you is me.

40:41.000 --> 40:42.000
It's not your strength.

40:43.000 --> 40:44.000
It's not your ability.

40:45.000 --> 40:46.000
It's not your chariots.

40:47.000 --> 40:48.000
It's not your horses.

40:49.000 --> 40:51.000
It is God that will be with you and it's God that will deliver you.

40:52.000 --> 40:53.000
And it's God that will save you in the actual battle.

40:53.000 --> 40:58.000
And so, of course, it's God that will deliver them that's going to give them this encouragement.

40:59.000 --> 41:02.000
Keep your finger, go to Psalm 3 for a moment, because Psalm chapter number 3.

41:03.000 --> 41:05.000
So it doesn't matter if you're outnumbered.

41:06.000 --> 41:07.000
It just matters if God's with you.

41:08.000 --> 41:10.000
Now, this is a principle employed by Jonathan in the Bible.

41:11.000 --> 41:15.000
Jonathan gets his armor bearer to go with him out to the battle.

41:16.000 --> 41:22.000
And he's basically trying to encourage him saying it doesn't matter if we be few, you know, if God be for us, who can be against us?

41:23.000 --> 41:26.000
And he's trying to tell his armor bearer, let's go.

41:27.000 --> 41:30.000
And they take on, they kill like 20 people by themselves.

41:31.000 --> 41:39.000
And they basically cause the entire group of Philistines to become so discouraged and distressed that they basically just all are just fleeing and killing themselves and harming themselves.

41:40.000 --> 41:43.000
And it rallies their small hundreds of troops to basically slaughter thousands.

41:44.000 --> 41:46.000
Because again, it's not so much about the numbers.

41:47.000 --> 41:48.000
It's about the confidence.

41:49.000 --> 41:50.000
It's about God being on your side.

41:50.000 --> 41:57.000
And so the Bible gives us this idea that we shouldn't care about the numbers when it comes to the number of troops on either side of the aisle.

41:58.000 --> 41:59.000
We should care if God is with us.

42:00.000 --> 42:01.000
Psalm 3, look at verse number 6.

42:20.000 --> 42:23.000
You can go back, but notice again the Psalm, really popular Psalm.

42:24.000 --> 42:28.000
Hey, I am not even going to be afraid even if 10,000 people were encircling me.

42:29.000 --> 42:33.000
Even if I have to go one against 10,000, I'm not going to be afraid.

42:34.000 --> 42:36.000
And notice it was God that was going to smite them upon the cheekbone.

42:37.000 --> 42:39.000
He didn't even say he was going to smite them on the cheekbone.

42:40.000 --> 42:41.000
He says that God was going to smite them on the cheekbone.

42:42.000 --> 42:43.000
That God was going to fight for him.

42:44.000 --> 42:45.000
That God was going to deliver him.

42:46.000 --> 42:48.000
This is a consistent theme that you're going to see throughout the entire Bible.

42:48.000 --> 42:49.000
And of course it's really important here in Deuteronomy.

42:50.000 --> 42:53.000
They're going to go and conquer nations greater and mightier than them.

42:54.000 --> 42:57.000
They're going to go and basically pretty much be untouched for the most part.

42:58.000 --> 43:05.000
I mean they're going to just slaughter just a crazy number of people and have very few casualties on their side of the equation.

43:06.000 --> 43:07.000
This is not a normal experience.

43:08.000 --> 43:14.000
This is God simply delivering them and fighting for them and causing them to be victorious.

43:14.000 --> 43:15.000
Now it says in verse 5,

43:15.000 --> 43:16.000
Now it says in verse 5,

43:16.000 --> 43:41.000
Now it says in verse 5,

43:42.000 --> 43:45.000
So in verses 5, 6, and 7, why these three examples?

43:46.000 --> 43:51.000
Now I don't think it's limited to these three examples, but this is what I believe the Bible is trying to indicate is that

43:52.000 --> 43:58.000
there could be someone on the battlefield or engaged in the battle that has a hesitation to die.

43:59.000 --> 44:02.000
That is afraid of dying and there's something kind of holding him back.

44:03.000 --> 44:04.000
And what's the thing that's holding him back?

44:05.000 --> 44:10.000
Well it could be what's holding him back is that he has this new house and he just really wants to see it.

44:11.000 --> 44:12.000
He just wants to experience his new house.

44:12.000 --> 44:16.000
Or he got married recently and he just wants to be with his wife.

44:17.000 --> 44:18.000
And so it's just kind of holding him back.

44:19.000 --> 44:24.000
He's made that vow that you see in every single love story where he's like, honey, I'm coming back.

44:25.000 --> 44:27.000
You know, honey, I'm going to be there or whatever.

44:28.000 --> 44:31.000
And so, you know, he kind of feels like he's made this oath unto his wife.

44:32.000 --> 44:34.000
And so he feels like he's going to be held back on the battlefield.

44:35.000 --> 44:38.000
And so he's not ready to essentially take a bullet for his neighbor.

44:38.000 --> 44:42.000
He's not ready to go and be on the front lines of the battlefield.

44:43.000 --> 44:48.000
He's not ready to basically lay down his life for his brethren because there's something holding him back.

44:49.000 --> 44:52.000
Whether it be his vineyard, his house, his wife, you know, something that could be very sentimental

44:53.000 --> 44:56.000
and incentive to someone to be afraid of dying.

44:57.000 --> 44:58.000
Like I'm going to lose out on this particular experience.

44:59.000 --> 45:03.000
And so what the officers are doing is anybody that has that hesitation now,

45:04.000 --> 45:05.000
we need to go ahead and just get you out.

45:05.000 --> 45:10.000
So that way when we're on the battlefield, you don't hesitate that you're not fearful.

45:11.000 --> 45:14.000
You don't turn back, that you're not someone that can't be relied upon.

45:15.000 --> 45:16.000
You say like, hey, you got my back?

45:17.000 --> 45:17.000

45:18.000 --> 45:20.000
And then all of a sudden he doesn't have your back because he's afraid of losing his house

45:21.000 --> 45:22.000
or losing his wife or whatever.

45:23.000 --> 45:28.000
Because then it's going to cost more people to die, more people to get afraid, more problems in the battle.

45:29.000 --> 45:32.000
You know, the famous movie and story of the 300,

45:32.000 --> 45:36.000
it's basically like 300 Spartans fighting just a whole host of enemy.

45:37.000 --> 45:41.000
But what's necessary is that every single one of them plays their part for them to be successful.

45:42.000 --> 45:45.000
You can't have a single breach in their shields, in their formation,

45:46.000 --> 45:49.000
and someone guarding the other guy's back because as soon as you have a breach,

45:50.000 --> 45:53.000
as soon as you have a hole in the wall, well now they can just get in

45:54.000 --> 45:55.000
and it's basically going to be a disaster.

45:56.000 --> 46:00.000
So you have to have them all courageous, all fighting, all battling, all in lockstep.

46:00.000 --> 46:04.000
The guy that's afraid of losing his house, his wife, his vineyard or whatever, he's just not that guy.

46:05.000 --> 46:07.000
And so we just want to go ahead and just weed him out.

46:08.000 --> 46:11.000
And then of course these three examples, like I said, are not enough.

46:12.000 --> 46:13.000
So then they just give a catch-all.

46:14.000 --> 46:16.000
Here in the next verse, he says in verse 8,

46:17.000 --> 46:20.000
And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say,

46:21.000 --> 46:23.000
What man is there that is fearful and faint-hearted?

46:24.000 --> 46:28.000
And let him go and return to his house, lest his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart.

46:28.000 --> 46:30.000
So he's just saying not only these three specific,

46:31.000 --> 46:34.000
he's just giving some examples so that people will be triggered in their mind like,

46:35.000 --> 46:36.000
Oh yeah, I don't want to lose my house.

46:37.000 --> 46:40.000
Oh yeah, I don't want to have some other guy be with my wife or whatever.

46:41.000 --> 46:43.000
And so he just, yep, bye.

46:44.000 --> 46:47.000
But then there's just someone there that he doesn't even have a house.

46:48.000 --> 46:49.000
He doesn't even have a wife.

46:50.000 --> 46:51.000
He has no vineyard.

46:52.000 --> 46:53.000
He's just a coward.

46:54.000 --> 46:55.000
He's just afraid.

46:55.000 --> 46:57.000
He's just not willing to die.

46:58.000 --> 46:59.000
Then they're like, You need to go as well.

47:00.000 --> 47:02.000
Because you just can't have the fearful on the battlefield.

47:03.000 --> 47:06.000
You just can't have the guy that isn't willing to lay down his life

47:07.000 --> 47:11.000
because then you're going to basically cause more damage by having him on the field.

47:12.000 --> 47:14.000
You're not going to cause, you would think like, Oh, well we have all these extra troops.

47:15.000 --> 47:19.000
Yeah, but all the fearful troops actually make it worse than if you got rid of them.

47:20.000 --> 47:22.000
You just basically want only strong people on your roster.

47:22.000 --> 47:23.000
You only want people that are ready to go.

47:24.000 --> 47:28.000
You don't want the fearful and incompetent and the person that's not capable of laying down his life

47:29.000 --> 47:30.000
because then you're going to cause problems.

47:31.000 --> 47:34.000
Not only are you going to cause problems for himself, he's going to cause problems for other people.

47:35.000 --> 47:39.000
Did you notice this in verse 8, less his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart?

47:40.000 --> 47:42.000
You know, someone that says like, I'm steadfast.

47:43.000 --> 47:44.000
I'm unmovable.

47:45.000 --> 47:46.000
I'm not going anywhere.

47:47.000 --> 47:50.000
Whenever they backslide, whenever they let you down,

47:50.000 --> 47:53.000
whenever they show their cowardice, boy, it affects a lot of people.

47:54.000 --> 47:59.000
It causes other people to think, well, if that guy's quitting, if that guy is a problem,

48:00.000 --> 48:03.000
if this guy is not going to stick in there, if this guy is losing faith,

48:04.000 --> 48:07.000
well then it causes other people that were looking up to them,

48:08.000 --> 48:11.000
that thought, wow, this guy's better than me or this guy has been here longer than me

48:12.000 --> 48:13.000
or this guy has more faith in me.

48:14.000 --> 48:17.000
If this guy can't even believe, if this guy doesn't even have faith,

48:17.000 --> 48:20.000
if this guy is going to slide back, well then I'm going to go with him.

48:21.000 --> 48:24.000
And you often see the fearful dragging others down with them.

48:25.000 --> 48:31.000
You see the coward and the backslidden and the fearful and the selfish and the carnal,

48:32.000 --> 48:34.000
often dragging other people down with them.

48:35.000 --> 48:37.000
And so of course this is a problem when you're going to battle.

48:38.000 --> 48:41.000
When you're going to battle, you don't want that fearful person to be there

48:42.000 --> 48:44.000
to just drag everybody down with them.

48:44.000 --> 48:48.000
And so this again, we're just talking about actual carnal literal warfare.

48:49.000 --> 48:53.000
Now we can make some applications and for sake of this sermon,

48:54.000 --> 48:57.000
I'll probably go ahead and just start making some of the applications as well.

48:58.000 --> 48:59.000
But go to Luke chapter 14.

49:00.000 --> 49:02.000
This could also be applied into the spiritual battle.

49:03.000 --> 49:04.000
Everything that we've said so far.

49:05.000 --> 49:09.000
God doesn't want us to be afraid in the spiritual war.

49:10.000 --> 49:12.000
He doesn't want to use those people because he's also,

49:12.000 --> 49:13.000
going to deliver us in the spiritual war.

49:14.000 --> 49:16.000
In the spiritual war, he's the one that delivers us.

49:17.000 --> 49:19.000
We don't have to think about like, oh, well we're outnumbered.

49:20.000 --> 49:25.000
Or they have chariots or oh, they have giants on their team.

49:26.000 --> 49:27.000
Or they have more money than we do.

49:28.000 --> 49:30.000
Or they're in the land. It doesn't really matter, does it?

49:31.000 --> 49:33.000
If God be for us, who can be against this is what our attitude should be.

49:34.000 --> 49:37.000
Not only that, notice who's supposed to encourage the people.

49:38.000 --> 49:39.000
It's the priest, just like in today's world,

49:39.000 --> 49:44.000
that the preacher, the pastors, are supposed to be there to encourage the troops for the battle.

49:45.000 --> 49:46.000
And to say, hey, let's trust in God.

49:47.000 --> 49:48.000
And you're supposed to remind them of what the Bible says.

49:49.000 --> 49:50.000
And prepare them for war.

49:51.000 --> 49:52.000
And making a certain sound with the trumpet.

49:53.000 --> 49:55.000
You know, not this uncertain sound,

49:56.000 --> 49:58.000
where people don't know where to go and don't know how to fight,

49:59.000 --> 50:00.000
and don't really know what to do.

50:01.000 --> 50:03.000
It's just so frustrating when you listen to someone preach a sermon,

50:04.000 --> 50:08.000
and you feel like you understand less aptly what the Bible says.

50:09.000 --> 50:10.000
And you're like, what's going on after the sermon?

50:11.000 --> 50:12.000
Like you have more questions.

50:13.000 --> 50:14.000
You feel more uncertain about their position.

50:15.000 --> 50:16.000
You're not sure where they stand.

50:17.000 --> 50:18.000
You're not sure where they're leading.

50:19.000 --> 50:20.000
Because they didn't actually lead you anywhere.

50:21.000 --> 50:22.000
They actually made it more confusing.

50:23.000 --> 50:25.000
You thought there was two options, and they presented five.

50:26.000 --> 50:28.000
And now you're sitting here thinking like, well, now I have no idea what to do.

50:29.000 --> 50:32.000
And they're not even necessarily saying, here's five and I'm going down this path.

50:33.000 --> 50:34.000
They're like, there's five, where y'all going?

50:35.000 --> 50:36.000
Well, that's not a leader.

50:36.000 --> 50:39.000
A leader says, this is where I'm going.

50:40.000 --> 50:41.000
Who's with me?

50:42.000 --> 50:46.000
You're going to make a certain sound, make it clear, and go and lead the charge.

50:47.000 --> 50:49.000
That's what pastors and preachers are supposed to do.

50:50.000 --> 50:51.000
That's what the priest is supposed to do.

50:52.000 --> 50:53.000
Get up and say, hey, we're going to conquer them.

50:54.000 --> 50:55.000
God is with us.

50:56.000 --> 50:57.000
Don't be afraid.

50:58.000 --> 50:59.000
We're going to win this battle.

51:00.000 --> 51:01.000
That was the priest's message.

51:02.000 --> 51:05.000
And notice that there is no hesitation for the priest to just openly declare triumph immediately.

51:06.000 --> 51:07.000
We will win.

51:08.000 --> 51:10.000
Look, if God be for us, who can be against?

51:11.000 --> 51:13.000
When we're on God's side, we automatically win.

51:14.000 --> 51:15.000
You just already won.

51:16.000 --> 51:21.000
The only way to lose is to be afraid and quit and not be on God's team because God will win.

51:22.000 --> 51:27.000
So the best thing to do is just get on God's team and you can just already know we already won.

51:28.000 --> 51:29.000
We're already going to win.

51:30.000 --> 51:31.000
We will win every battle.

51:32.000 --> 51:34.000
We'll always be victorious, whether that be through martyrdom,

51:34.000 --> 51:35.000
whether that be through persecution,

51:36.000 --> 51:37.000
whether that be through literal triumph.

51:38.000 --> 51:41.000
It does not matter because we'll still be a winner at the end of the day.

51:42.000 --> 51:45.000
And notice the preacher and the priest just says, hey, we're going to win this battle.

51:46.000 --> 51:47.000
Just because we're going to win every battle.

51:48.000 --> 51:50.000
Christians win every single battle, even over the Antichrist.

51:51.000 --> 51:53.000
The Antichrist will try to kill every single Christian and he will fail.

51:54.000 --> 51:59.000
And many Christians will rise up victorious in the rapture of the Lord Jesus Christ.

52:00.000 --> 52:01.000
They won't even die.

52:02.000 --> 52:03.000
Now, will it kill a lot of us?

52:04.000 --> 52:06.000
Absolutely. I mean, the Bible says it's going to be the worst slaughter ever.

52:07.000 --> 52:11.000
But you know what? At the end of the day, hey, you shouldn't be afraid to die.

52:12.000 --> 52:13.000
Because the die is gained.

52:14.000 --> 52:15.000
That's what the Bible says.

52:16.000 --> 52:18.000
I mean, the die is gained and you're a partaker of his sufferings.

52:19.000 --> 52:22.000
You're counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

52:23.000 --> 52:28.000
I mean, to die as a martyr for the Lord Jesus Christ is one of the highest honors that could ever happen in this universe.

52:29.000 --> 52:35.000
You know, people think like, oh, laying out for that game winning touchdown, even though he gets smashed by the defender is like the coolest thing.

52:36.000 --> 52:41.000
No, no, laying out for the Lord Jesus Christ and getting smashed by the Antichrist is a way better honor.

52:43.000 --> 52:44.000
Hey, dying triumph.

52:45.000 --> 52:52.000
I mean, John the Baptist, the greatest man born among women, slaughtered by the Romans in prison, just beheaded in prison.

52:53.000 --> 53:00.000
And of course, many of the other disciples and apostles through history's lens says that all of them died a martyr's death.

53:01.000 --> 53:05.000
I don't know how accurate that is, but it seems very likely that most of them died a pretty horrific death.

53:06.000 --> 53:10.000
It's obviously foreshadowed about the Apostle Peter through the Gospel of John.

53:11.000 --> 53:12.000
And so, you know, it's kind of nice of John, right?

53:13.000 --> 53:15.000
Hey, I wrote this letter about you.

53:17.000 --> 53:18.000
Do you want to read it?

53:18.000 --> 53:19.000
Do you want to read it?

53:20.000 --> 53:22.000
You know, Peter's all reading. He's like, he ran faster than me.

53:23.000 --> 53:23.000

53:24.000 --> 53:26.000
And then he gets to the end and it's just like, dang, you know.

53:27.000 --> 53:30.000
But, you know, Peter lived it. Peter was actually there when Jesus already said him the word.

53:31.000 --> 53:33.000
So it shouldn't really offend him that, hey, John's like, hey, I wrote that down.

53:34.000 --> 53:35.000
Just FYI.

53:36.000 --> 53:38.000
It's like, that's even the funnier part, right?

53:39.000 --> 53:42.000
Jesus is like selling Peter this and then John's like, by the way, I got notes on that.

53:43.000 --> 53:46.000
I recorded that just in case you wanted to know.

53:46.000 --> 53:50.000
Oh, yeah. And it's going to be the most famous Gospel ever that everyone's going to read.

53:51.000 --> 53:52.000
Don't worry.

53:53.000 --> 53:58.000
But, I mean, at the end of the day, hey, even if you are Peter, you really think you'd be ashamed to be Peter for all of eternity?

53:59.000 --> 54:03.000
I mean, that guy is going to be one of the greatest rewarded people to ever live.

54:04.000 --> 54:05.000
One of the greatest men to ever live.

54:06.000 --> 54:08.000
Had some problems. Had carnal issues.

54:09.000 --> 54:12.000
Backslidden, you know, was fearful at one point.

54:13.000 --> 54:15.000
But at one point he's also converted.

54:16.000 --> 54:18.000
What was he converted from? His fear of death.

54:19.000 --> 54:23.000
He was afraid of dying, so he couldn't be used by God until he was converted.

54:24.000 --> 54:29.000
Then once he was converted and he was no longer fearful, now he can be used by God greatly.

54:30.000 --> 54:32.000
And Peter was used greatly by God because he wasn't afraid.

54:33.000 --> 54:36.000
Okay. Now this is what's kind of being brought up here in Luke chapter number 14.

54:37.000 --> 54:38.000
Look at verse 26.

54:38.000 --> 54:49.000
Boy, it seems like all those people that hate Pastor Anderson cannot be his disciple.

54:50.000 --> 54:53.000
Because you know what they all say, I'd rather sacrifice everyone than my children.

54:54.000 --> 54:55.000
Well, you know what? That's not what the Bible teaches.

54:56.000 --> 55:02.000
You know what? The Bible said specifically here that if you do not hate your children, you cannot be his disciple.

55:03.000 --> 55:06.000
Now, again, we're not talking about being mean to your children.

55:06.000 --> 55:07.000
We're not talking about not loving them.

55:08.000 --> 55:10.000
We're not talking about doing something weird or bizarre.

55:11.000 --> 55:17.000
We're saying in a competition between the work of Jesus Christ, the calling on your life to serve Jesus,

55:18.000 --> 55:25.000
and prioritizing your children above them, you should in contrast hate your children to abandoning the work of Christ.

55:26.000 --> 55:29.000
You should elevate the work of Christ and your relationship with God above your own children

55:30.000 --> 55:34.000
to the point that you'd be like Abraham willing to sacrifice your own son Isaac on the altar.

55:34.000 --> 55:36.000
That is what the Bible teaches from Genesis to Revelation.

55:37.000 --> 55:44.000
I mean, think about the ultimate picture of this is God the Father himself sacrificing his own son so that we could have eternal life.

55:45.000 --> 55:50.000
Praise God that the Father was willing to sacrifice his son so that I could have eternal life.

55:51.000 --> 55:53.000
Because he could have easily sent all of us to hell.

55:54.000 --> 55:59.000
How much more than I should have the same attitude of being willing to get people saved than to say,

55:59.000 --> 56:02.000
you know what, my children are more important than people getting saved.

56:03.000 --> 56:05.000
Well, I'm glad that God the Father didn't have that attitude.

56:06.000 --> 56:07.000
And you know what, that's not what Jesus said.

56:08.000 --> 56:12.000
The red letters of Jesus say you have to hate your own children to be as a disciple.

56:13.000 --> 56:16.000
Now, for some people, they may never even have to make this decision.

56:17.000 --> 56:20.000
But you know what? I think people that are going to be disciples of Jesus Christ,

56:21.000 --> 56:24.000
probably one of these will affect you at some point in your life.

56:25.000 --> 56:27.000
Maybe not all of them. Maybe all of them.

56:27.000 --> 56:33.000
I don't know. But I think the guy that's really dedicating himself to the Lord and really going to serve him for his entire life,

56:34.000 --> 56:38.000
probably someone on this list at some point you're going to have some kind of run in with.

56:39.000 --> 56:50.000
Whether it be your mother, whether it be your father, whether it be your wife, whether it be your children, your brethren, your sisters, or hey, even if it's none of them, maybe it's just you.

56:51.000 --> 56:52.000
Maybe you just have to die to self.

56:52.000 --> 57:01.000
That in many cases is probably the hardest enemy that we all have, is your own ambitions, your own hopes, your own selfish, and carnal desires.

57:02.000 --> 57:04.000
You have to crucify the flesh daily.

57:05.000 --> 57:11.000
You have to be willing to die to self and say, hey, it's not about me and my life and my ambitions.

57:12.000 --> 57:13.000
It's about the cause of Christ.

57:14.000 --> 57:16.000
Oh, you know who did that? Oh, yeah, Jesus Christ did.

57:17.000 --> 57:21.000
Because he said in the garden, nevertheless, not my life, but my own.

57:22.000 --> 57:24.000
I will, but thine be done.

57:25.000 --> 57:39.000
Even Jesus Christ himself had to face oppositions from his own family, from his own brethren, from his own father in heaven in the sense that his father has a will and his is not in perfect agreement in a sense.

57:40.000 --> 57:42.000
And so he has to basically say, I have to submit.

57:43.000 --> 57:49.000
Now, again, obviously the son of the father have a perfect alignment and agreement and in a big picture perspective.

57:49.000 --> 57:54.000
But the Bible is clear that in the Garden of Gethsemane, he said, not my will.

57:55.000 --> 57:57.000
He said he asked God to take away this cup from him.

57:58.000 --> 57:59.000
He didn't. He wasn't joking.

58:00.000 --> 58:02.000
He wasn't lying. He wasn't being insincere.

58:03.000 --> 58:04.000
He really didn't want to do it.

58:05.000 --> 58:12.000
And I think what we have to understand is that in our flesh, in our carnal nature, none of us wants to die.

58:13.000 --> 58:14.000
None of us wants to suffer.

58:15.000 --> 58:18.000
Like the Bible says that Jesus Christ despised the shame.

58:19.000 --> 58:20.000
He didn't want to experience shame.

58:21.000 --> 58:23.000
He didn't want to be spit upon.

58:24.000 --> 58:25.000
He didn't want to be mocked.

58:26.000 --> 58:27.000
He didn't want a crown of thorns to be shoved on his head.

58:28.000 --> 58:30.000
He didn't want to have to be crucified for six hours.

58:31.000 --> 58:33.000
He didn't want to have to die and go to hell.

58:34.000 --> 58:39.000
But he said, hey, the only hope I have is that you will not leave my soul in hell.

58:40.000 --> 58:41.000
But you know what? He was willing to do it.

58:42.000 --> 58:44.000
In fact, he was so, you know, earnest about this.

58:44.000 --> 58:49.000
The Bible says he was sweating so much, so profusely, that it was almost as much as blood.

58:50.000 --> 58:53.000
It was like drops of sweat as it were blood.

58:54.000 --> 58:59.000
But you know what? He said, nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done.

59:00.000 --> 59:04.000
He even had to learn obedience, as the book of Hebrews says.

59:05.000 --> 59:12.000
He himself had to submit and obey the Father and basically lay down his life.

59:12.000 --> 59:14.000
And we should follow Jesus's example.

59:15.000 --> 59:19.000
Being willing to lay down his life, that's the kind of example that's set before us.

59:20.000 --> 59:26.000
He says in verse 27, whosoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

59:27.000 --> 59:29.000
Jesus will give you a cross.

59:30.000 --> 59:31.000
And I don't know what that looks like.

59:32.000 --> 59:33.000
Some people it was a literal cross.

59:34.000 --> 59:37.000
Some people it will be a relationship that you have to crucify.

59:37.000 --> 59:43.000
For some people it will be your own personal life's ambitions or goals or selfish and carnal desires that you have to crucify.

59:44.000 --> 59:47.000
But if you want to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, there is a cost.

59:48.000 --> 59:57.000
Verse 28, for which of you intending to build a tower siteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether you have sufficient to finish it.

59:58.000 --> 01:00:01.000
This is what basically is happening in the story of Deuteronomy chapter number 20.

01:00:01.000 --> 01:00:04.000
We're setting everybody down and saying, hey, we're going to count the cost.

01:00:05.000 --> 01:00:07.000
You could die and never see your house again.

01:00:08.000 --> 01:00:10.000
You could die and never be with your wife again.

01:00:11.000 --> 01:00:13.000
You could die and never eat of your vineyard.

01:00:14.000 --> 01:00:16.000
Are you ready to die?

01:00:17.000 --> 01:00:19.000
Because that is the cost.

01:00:20.000 --> 01:00:21.000
That is the cost of going to battle.

01:00:22.000 --> 01:00:23.000
Now don't be afraid because God's with us.

01:00:24.000 --> 01:00:26.000
But I want you to realize this is the cost.

01:00:27.000 --> 01:00:29.000
And I want you to realize that this is the cost.

01:00:29.000 --> 01:00:30.000
I want you to realize this is the cost.

01:00:31.000 --> 01:00:32.000
And you have to be willing to lay down your life.

01:00:33.000 --> 01:00:35.000
You have to be like David that's saying, I'm going on this battlefield.

01:00:36.000 --> 01:00:40.000
And only one of us is walking away from this, me or Goliath.

01:00:41.000 --> 01:00:44.000
I mean, I either kill him or I die.

01:00:45.000 --> 01:00:46.000
That's the cost.

01:00:47.000 --> 01:00:48.000
But, he said, but you know what?

01:00:49.000 --> 01:00:50.000
God's going to deliver you into my hand.

01:00:51.000 --> 01:00:52.000
And he went and he ran toward him, is what the Bible said.

01:00:53.000 --> 01:00:54.000
And he slaughtered him.

01:00:55.000 --> 01:00:56.000
But you know what?

01:00:56.000 --> 01:00:58.000
He had to realize that by stepping on that field, it was a life or death situation.

01:00:59.000 --> 01:01:00.000
Kill or be killed.

01:01:01.000 --> 01:01:03.000
And you know, in many cases when it comes to the spiritual battle,

01:01:04.000 --> 01:01:05.000
we have to realize there's still a cost.

01:01:06.000 --> 01:01:07.000
Look, getting saved is free.

01:01:08.000 --> 01:01:09.000
You don't have to do anything.

01:01:10.000 --> 01:01:11.000
All you did is accept the free gift.

01:01:12.000 --> 01:01:13.000
But you know what?

01:01:14.000 --> 01:01:16.000
Once you're saved, being a disciple is a different decision.

01:01:17.000 --> 01:01:18.000
To be saved is to accept a free gift.

01:01:19.000 --> 01:01:23.000
To be a disciple is to say, hey, I'm also willing to give up everything.

01:01:24.000 --> 01:01:26.000
And of course, that's why work salvationists love to twist these passages

01:01:27.000 --> 01:01:28.000
to try and teach that's what you have to do to be saved.

01:01:29.000 --> 01:01:30.000
If you praise God, you don't have to do that to be saved

01:01:31.000 --> 01:01:32.000
because there'd basically be no one in heaven.

01:01:33.000 --> 01:01:37.000
If the entrance into heaven was being willing to sacrifice literally everything,

01:01:38.000 --> 01:01:40.000
well, it's going to be a really, really small group up in heaven.

01:01:41.000 --> 01:01:43.000
Very few people are actually willing to do this.

01:01:44.000 --> 01:01:45.000
And that's why there's few disciples.

01:01:46.000 --> 01:01:48.000
But there's still many people that are saved.

01:01:49.000 --> 01:01:51.000
And of course, this is the test that we have in life.

01:01:52.000 --> 01:01:53.000
Those who will accept the free gift

01:01:54.000 --> 01:01:58.000
and those who also will be willing to sacrifice everything for the cause of Christ.

01:01:59.000 --> 01:02:00.000
And of course, you have to.

01:02:01.000 --> 01:02:02.000
You have to carry your cross.

01:02:03.000 --> 01:02:04.000
You have to take up your cross.

01:02:05.000 --> 01:02:06.000
You have to think about this.

01:02:07.000 --> 01:02:08.000
It costs something.

01:02:09.000 --> 01:02:10.000
You have to bear your cross.

01:02:11.000 --> 01:02:16.000
Think about the craziness of having to carry your own cross up the hill

01:02:17.000 --> 01:02:18.000
that you're going to be nailed to.

01:02:19.000 --> 01:02:20.000
That's interesting.

01:02:21.000 --> 01:02:23.000
That's an interesting cross.

01:02:24.000 --> 01:02:27.000
I mean, you have to literally bear the thing that's going to kill you.

01:02:27.000 --> 01:02:28.000
But you know what?

01:02:29.000 --> 01:02:30.000
That's what Christianity is.

01:02:31.000 --> 01:02:32.000
Often you're bearing the thing that's going to kill you.

01:02:33.000 --> 01:02:34.000
It's Christianity.

01:02:35.000 --> 01:02:36.000
It's being a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

01:02:37.000 --> 01:02:38.000
It's the Word of God.

01:02:39.000 --> 01:02:40.000
This is what people will hate you for.

01:02:41.000 --> 01:02:43.000
People are not going to hate you by being nice and kind and loving.

01:02:44.000 --> 01:02:45.000
They're going to hate you for his sake.

01:02:46.000 --> 01:02:47.000
They're going to hate you for the gospel's sake.

01:02:48.000 --> 01:02:49.000
They're going to hate you for not only just the gospel,

01:02:50.000 --> 01:02:51.000
anything in this book and everything in this book,

01:02:52.000 --> 01:02:53.000
whatever is not popular at the time.

01:02:53.000 --> 01:02:54.000
John the Baptist wasn't killed for the, quote, gospel's sake.

01:02:55.000 --> 01:02:56.000
In a strict sense, what was he killed for?

01:02:57.000 --> 01:03:02.000
For saying it was not lawful for Herod to have his brother's wife.

01:03:03.000 --> 01:03:06.000
He said it's not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.

01:03:07.000 --> 01:03:09.000
And that's what caused him to die.

01:03:10.000 --> 01:03:12.000
Oh, does that mean he shouldn't have said that?

01:03:13.000 --> 01:03:14.000
He should have been tactfully disruptive.

01:03:15.000 --> 01:03:17.000
That would cross the line or whatever.

01:03:18.000 --> 01:03:19.000
Let's look at the Bible.

01:03:19.000 --> 01:03:20.000
That would cross the line or whatever.

01:03:21.000 --> 01:03:22.000
Look, you know what?

01:03:23.000 --> 01:03:24.000
You not preaching the Bible crosses the line with me.

01:03:25.000 --> 01:03:26.000
Amen.

01:03:27.000 --> 01:03:28.000
Okay, and you know what?

01:03:29.000 --> 01:03:30.000
There's nothing in this book that we shouldn't preach.

01:03:31.000 --> 01:03:33.000
I get so tired of people trying to pander to unsaved people.

01:03:34.000 --> 01:03:36.000
What did that even help Herod anyways?

01:03:37.000 --> 01:03:40.000
Oh, I'm sure if John the Baptist had come to Herod and just said,

01:03:41.000 --> 01:03:43.000
oh, you're such a wonderful king, he would have gotten saved, right?

01:03:44.000 --> 01:03:47.000
Look, if you hear that you're a sinner and you don't want to get saved,

01:03:47.000 --> 01:03:48.000
nothing's going to fix that.

01:03:49.000 --> 01:03:51.000
If they turn again and rend you and attack you and whatever,

01:03:52.000 --> 01:03:53.000
hey, that's their problem.

01:03:54.000 --> 01:03:55.000
But you know what?

01:03:56.000 --> 01:03:57.000
It's not like John the Baptist wasn't trying to get people saved.

01:03:58.000 --> 01:03:59.000
And look, even Herod had respect towards John the Baptist.

01:04:00.000 --> 01:04:01.000
He respect him.

01:04:02.000 --> 01:04:04.000
It was, you know, that witch of a wife that he had that was, you know,

01:04:05.000 --> 01:04:06.000
leading him around.

01:04:07.000 --> 01:04:08.000
Isn't it interesting?

01:04:09.000 --> 01:04:10.000
It's always the women leading the men to do the feminist bidding.

01:04:11.000 --> 01:04:14.000
And, you know, it's the weak men like Herod that vote the men and

01:04:14.000 --> 01:04:15.000
allow them to have voting rights and allow them to tell them what to do.

01:04:16.000 --> 01:04:17.000
And you know what?

01:04:18.000 --> 01:04:19.000
It's sad.

01:04:20.000 --> 01:04:21.000
It's sad that there's men like that that let their wives tell them what to do.

01:04:22.000 --> 01:04:23.000
But, you know, it's because they can't stand up to their wife.

01:04:24.000 --> 01:04:25.000
You know?

01:04:26.000 --> 01:04:27.000
If you can't stand up to your wife, how are you going to be a Christian?

01:04:28.000 --> 01:04:29.000
I mean, you have to hate your own wife even, as the Bible says.

01:04:30.000 --> 01:04:31.000
You have to hate your own life and your own wife.

01:04:32.000 --> 01:04:35.000
Now, it also says not only are you counting the cost financially.

01:04:36.000 --> 01:04:39.000
It says, verse 29, let's happily offer our lives to God.

01:04:39.000 --> 01:04:40.000
It also says not only are you counting the cost financially.

01:04:41.000 --> 01:04:44.000
It says, verse 29, let's happily after you lay the foundation,

01:04:45.000 --> 01:04:46.000
he is not able to finish it.

01:04:47.000 --> 01:04:48.000
All that behold it begin to mock him, saying,

01:04:49.000 --> 01:04:50.000
this man began to build, was not able to finish.

01:04:51.000 --> 01:04:53.000
Or what king goeth to war against another king,

01:04:54.000 --> 01:04:57.000
sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with 10,000

01:04:58.000 --> 01:05:00.000
to meet him that cometh against him with 20,000.

01:05:01.000 --> 01:05:03.000
Now, isn't this basically what Deuteronomy, chapter 20 is bringing up?

01:05:04.000 --> 01:05:06.000
You have 10,000, they have 20,000.

01:05:07.000 --> 01:05:08.000
Well, let's figure out first if we can do it.

01:05:09.000 --> 01:05:10.000
It's like, yeah, but one of those people on our team is God.

01:05:11.000 --> 01:05:12.000
So, yeah, we got it.

01:05:13.000 --> 01:05:15.000
But you know, you have to realize, hey, this is a real war,

01:05:16.000 --> 01:05:18.000
this is a real battle, can we take them on?

01:05:19.000 --> 01:05:23.000
He says in verse 32, or else, while the other is yet a great way off,

01:05:24.000 --> 01:05:25.000
he sendeth an amassage and desireth conditions of peace.

01:05:26.000 --> 01:05:29.000
So likewise, whosoever be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath,

01:05:30.000 --> 01:05:32.000
he cannot be my disciple.

01:05:33.000 --> 01:05:35.000
Salt is good, but if the salt have lost its savor,

01:05:36.000 --> 01:05:37.000
wherewith shall it be seasoned?

01:05:37.000 --> 01:05:40.000
It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dung hill,

01:05:41.000 --> 01:05:44.000
but men cast it out, he that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

01:05:45.000 --> 01:05:47.000
He's saying, man, whenever you stop being salty,

01:05:48.000 --> 01:05:49.000
you're just basically worthless.

01:05:50.000 --> 01:05:53.000
And you know, as Christians, we have to be willing to forsake all

01:05:54.000 --> 01:05:57.000
and say, hey, I'm willing to die for Christ, lay down my life,

01:05:58.000 --> 01:06:00.000
I've counted the cost, well, now you're salty.

01:06:01.000 --> 01:06:03.000
Whenever you're not salty, you're good for nothing.

01:06:04.000 --> 01:06:06.000
On the battlefield, whether that's physically or mentally,

01:06:07.000 --> 01:06:08.000
or whether that's spiritually.

01:06:09.000 --> 01:06:12.000
And you know, our church, you know, we try, our hardest

01:06:13.000 --> 01:06:14.000
to actually do the whole Bible.

01:06:15.000 --> 01:06:18.000
We're not like a 50% Bible club or a 95% Bible club.

01:06:19.000 --> 01:06:20.000
You know, I want disciples at this church.

01:06:21.000 --> 01:06:22.000
And if we're going to be disciples, then we have to say,

01:06:23.000 --> 01:06:24.000
hey, you know, we're willing to sacrifice it all.

01:06:25.000 --> 01:06:26.000
And we don't want the fearful at our church.

01:06:27.000 --> 01:06:29.000
And you say, oh man, your hard preaching is going to turn away people.

01:06:30.000 --> 01:06:32.000
Yep, the guy that wants to go home and dedicate his house.

01:06:33.000 --> 01:06:36.000
Oh, well, your preaching is going to cause someone to leave.

01:06:37.000 --> 01:06:39.000
Yeah, the guy that's afraid of losing his job at the vineyard.

01:06:40.000 --> 01:06:42.000
The job at the vineyard is too important for him.

01:06:43.000 --> 01:06:44.000
Oh, well, you're going to cause some people to leave

01:06:45.000 --> 01:06:46.000
because their wife doesn't like the church.

01:06:47.000 --> 01:06:48.000
Well, you know what, go hang out with your wife then.

01:06:49.000 --> 01:06:51.000
Let her tell you what to do, Herod.

01:06:52.000 --> 01:06:54.000
Oh, well, some people just can't handle it.

01:06:55.000 --> 01:06:56.000
There's protesters sometimes.

01:06:57.000 --> 01:06:59.000
You have a low star review on Google.

01:07:00.000 --> 01:07:01.000
Well, be afraid.

01:07:02.000 --> 01:07:03.000
Pastor Shelley is scary.

01:07:04.000 --> 01:07:05.000
It's a cult.

01:07:05.000 --> 01:07:06.000
Woo!

01:07:07.000 --> 01:07:10.000
Okay, then be afraid of the cult.

01:07:11.000 --> 01:07:14.000
You know, while you go join, you know, some group,

01:07:15.000 --> 01:07:17.000
the Dallas Cowboys, where you all are so excited,

01:07:18.000 --> 01:07:19.000
even though they lose all the time,

01:07:20.000 --> 01:07:23.000
that you're going to buy really expensive merch from them,

01:07:24.000 --> 01:07:25.000
no matter what,

01:07:26.000 --> 01:07:30.000
that you have to basically pretend like you all are going to go to the playoffs when you're not.

01:07:31.000 --> 01:07:32.000
I mean, who's the cult here?

01:07:32.000 --> 01:07:36.000
I mean, you support a losing squad repeatedly.

01:07:37.000 --> 01:07:40.000
It's a blast for me to say anything negative about them, right?

01:07:41.000 --> 01:07:43.000
I mean, you go and just waste tons and tons of money.

01:07:44.000 --> 01:07:47.000
I mean, just, you know, people just throw these terms around, cult and whatever.

01:07:48.000 --> 01:07:50.000
It's like, oh, okay, go to Life.Church or something,

01:07:51.000 --> 01:07:55.000
where they have 60 campuses with one pastor that comes on the television screen.

01:07:56.000 --> 01:07:57.000
That's not a cult, right?

01:07:58.000 --> 01:07:59.000
That's not the cult.

01:08:00.000 --> 01:08:01.000
The one with independent pastors and independent churches,

01:08:02.000 --> 01:08:03.000
that's not a cult.

01:08:04.000 --> 01:08:06.000
You know, it's just crazy what people think and dream up cults.

01:08:07.000 --> 01:08:10.000
Oh, the cult is the group of bitter people online that basically just,

01:08:11.000 --> 01:08:13.000
they can't even believe two plus two equals four anymore,

01:08:14.000 --> 01:08:16.000
because they're so hateful and so blinded by hate,

01:08:17.000 --> 01:08:20.000
that they'll basically accept heretics and freaks and weirdos and heresy,

01:08:21.000 --> 01:08:22.000
but, you know, we're in the cult.

01:08:23.000 --> 01:08:25.000
You know, I'm not really afraid of labels like this.

01:08:26.000 --> 01:08:30.000
You really expect me to go to actual warfare, and now I'm afraid of labels?

01:08:30.000 --> 01:08:33.000
Do you think the Philistines were talking sweetly to the Israelites

01:08:34.000 --> 01:08:35.000
when they were lined up on the battlefield?

01:08:36.000 --> 01:08:37.000
Hey, y'all are cool, man.

01:08:38.000 --> 01:08:39.000
I like y'all.

01:08:40.000 --> 01:08:42.000
I'm sure they were trash talking each other pretty hard.

01:08:43.000 --> 01:08:45.000
I mean, ever heard Sennacherib trash talk?

01:08:46.000 --> 01:08:47.000
I mean, Sennacherib is going around trash talking,

01:08:48.000 --> 01:08:49.000
and he's telling you you're going to drink your own piss,

01:08:50.000 --> 01:08:51.000
and they're going to kill everybody on the wall.

01:08:52.000 --> 01:08:53.000
I mean, it's like, they're saying like nasty things.

01:08:54.000 --> 01:08:57.000
They're saying all kinds of crazy trash talk that you can think up and dream up.

01:08:57.000 --> 01:08:58.000
Okay?

01:08:59.000 --> 01:09:01.000
You know, don't be afraid of the trash talking.

01:09:02.000 --> 01:09:05.000
Maybe just make a meme or two, dish it back.

01:09:06.000 --> 01:09:07.000
Okay?

01:09:08.000 --> 01:09:09.000
The truth hurts them.

01:09:10.000 --> 01:09:11.000
Trash talking doesn't bother me.

01:09:12.000 --> 01:09:13.000
But have you counted the cost?

01:09:14.000 --> 01:09:16.000
You know, don't come to a church like ours unless you counted the cost.

01:09:17.000 --> 01:09:18.000
That's all I have to say.

01:09:19.000 --> 01:09:20.000
Go back, you had to do it on me, chapter 20.

01:09:21.000 --> 01:09:23.000
You know, people are like, oh, I moved across the country to come to this church,

01:09:24.000 --> 01:09:25.000
and, you know, your sermon offended me.

01:09:25.000 --> 01:09:28.000
Pro, count the cost, man.

01:09:29.000 --> 01:09:31.000
Oh, I came across, I thought that you and me were going to be best friends.

01:09:32.000 --> 01:09:34.000
That was a bad decision.

01:09:35.000 --> 01:09:36.000
You know?

01:09:37.000 --> 01:09:39.000
Like, what were you signing up for?

01:09:40.000 --> 01:09:42.000
Oh, I showed up, and then there's just, you know, everybody hates you.

01:09:43.000 --> 01:09:44.000
Okay.

01:09:45.000 --> 01:09:46.000
Really?

01:09:47.000 --> 01:09:49.000
It's like, oh, you taught this doctrine that you've taught for the last seven years.

01:09:50.000 --> 01:09:51.000
Right, because I'm going to keep teaching it.

01:09:52.000 --> 01:09:53.000
Oh, here's the best thing.

01:09:53.000 --> 01:09:54.000
I'm going to keep teaching it.

01:09:55.000 --> 01:09:56.000
Oh, here's the bad word.

01:09:57.000 --> 01:09:58.000
Well, you should have figured that one out, you know?

01:09:59.000 --> 01:10:01.000
It's just like, hey, shouldn't you count the cost a little bit?

01:10:02.000 --> 01:10:03.000
Oh, all you do is emphasize soul winning.

01:10:04.000 --> 01:10:05.000
Yep, we're going to keep doing it.

01:10:06.000 --> 01:10:09.000
Oh, you just keep pushing us to go soul winning, and you just want to go soul winning,

01:10:10.000 --> 01:10:12.000
count numbers, and, you know, numbers, numbers, and soul winning, and whatever.

01:10:13.000 --> 01:10:14.000
It's just like, yeah.

01:10:15.000 --> 01:10:16.000
Oh, you tell us to come to church three times a week.

01:10:17.000 --> 01:10:18.000
Yep.

01:10:19.000 --> 01:10:20.000
And, oh, you're against Israel.

01:10:21.000 --> 01:10:22.000
Welcome to the club.

01:10:23.000 --> 01:10:24.000
You should count the cost.

01:10:25.000 --> 01:10:28.000
And look, here's some of the hidden costs that sometimes people don't see.

01:10:29.000 --> 01:10:32.000
You know, I'm going on a tangent for a second, but here's some of the hidden costs, okay?

01:10:33.000 --> 01:10:34.000
Because obviously some of that's on the surface.

01:10:35.000 --> 01:10:38.000
You know, this is like the, when you buy a hotel or whatever,

01:10:39.000 --> 01:10:40.000
and there's like 50 extra taxes or whatever.

01:10:41.000 --> 01:10:47.000
Look, you go to a church, the devil will try to attack you in all kinds of subtle ways too.

01:10:48.000 --> 01:10:51.000
You know, gossip, lying, slander.

01:10:51.000 --> 01:10:54.000
You should basically just take it to the bank.

01:10:55.000 --> 01:10:58.000
Someone in your life will just lie about you just for sure if you come to this church.

01:10:59.000 --> 01:11:04.000
It doesn't matter, like, if you are the nicest, kindest, most honest-hearted person,

01:11:05.000 --> 01:11:09.000
just coming to this church, someone close to you will probably just lie about you for no reason.

01:11:10.000 --> 01:11:11.000
Just out of the blue.

01:11:12.000 --> 01:11:14.000
People will just turn their back on you.

01:11:15.000 --> 01:11:16.000
Gossip.

01:11:17.000 --> 01:11:18.000
You're going to have people that don't like you.

01:11:18.000 --> 01:11:19.000
You're going to have little conflicts that you never had before in your life.

01:11:20.000 --> 01:11:21.000
You're going to have all these little things.

01:11:22.000 --> 01:11:23.000
Look, but don't let that distract you.

01:11:24.000 --> 01:11:25.000
Don't let that discourage you.

01:11:26.000 --> 01:11:27.000
Don't let that get you down.

01:11:28.000 --> 01:11:29.000
That's par for the course.

01:11:30.000 --> 01:11:31.000
You should expect that kind of stuff.

01:11:32.000 --> 01:11:33.000
Why didn't you already count the cost?

01:11:34.000 --> 01:11:35.000
I mean, it's warfare.

01:11:36.000 --> 01:11:37.000
It would be kind of like thinking like you might not,

01:11:38.000 --> 01:11:39.000
you're thinking like you're going to go on a battlefield,

01:11:40.000 --> 01:11:42.000
and you're never going to catch like any mud in the eye.

01:11:43.000 --> 01:11:45.000
You're never going to like stub your toe.

01:11:45.000 --> 01:11:46.000
You're never going to get, you know, maybe a twisted ankle or something.

01:11:47.000 --> 01:11:48.000
I mean, you really think like after the battle,

01:11:49.000 --> 01:11:50.000
just everyone's just perfect afterwards.

01:11:51.000 --> 01:11:52.000
No one's sore.

01:11:53.000 --> 01:11:54.000
No one's injured in any way.

01:11:55.000 --> 01:11:56.000
Sorry, it's like raining outside.

01:11:57.000 --> 01:11:58.000
I don't know if you knew that.

01:11:59.000 --> 01:12:00.000
My phone has to tell me and everybody else.

01:12:01.000 --> 01:12:03.000
Yeah, obviously when you go on to the battlefield,

01:12:04.000 --> 01:12:05.000
you're going to probably be a little sore.

01:12:06.000 --> 01:12:07.000
You're probably going to get some minor cuts and scrapes

01:12:08.000 --> 01:12:09.000
and some little afflictions and stuff.

01:12:10.000 --> 01:12:11.000
You're probably going to get a little sore.

01:12:12.000 --> 01:12:13.000
You're probably going to get a little sore.

01:12:13.000 --> 01:12:14.000
You're probably going to get some minor cuts and scrapes

01:12:15.000 --> 01:12:16.000
and some little afflictions.

01:12:17.000 --> 01:12:19.000
Don't think that you're going to literally go up and down the runway

01:12:20.000 --> 01:12:21.000
when you're on the battlefield.

01:12:22.000 --> 01:12:23.000
Some glamour shot.

01:12:24.000 --> 01:12:25.000
Look, it's just not how it is.

01:12:26.000 --> 01:12:27.000
It's messy.

01:12:28.000 --> 01:12:29.000
It's ugly.

01:12:30.000 --> 01:12:31.000
There's going to be mud.

01:12:32.000 --> 01:12:33.000
You're going to get dirty.

01:12:34.000 --> 01:12:35.000
Your clothes are going to rip.

01:12:36.000 --> 01:12:37.000
Your shoes are going to come undone.

01:12:38.000 --> 01:12:39.000
You might even catch a stray arrow,

01:12:40.000 --> 01:12:41.000
but you didn't die.

01:12:42.000 --> 01:12:43.000
But did you die?

01:12:44.000 --> 01:12:46.000
You know, all they hit me, but did you die?

01:12:47.000 --> 01:12:51.000
You know, hey, a bullet ricocheted off my helmet.

01:12:52.000 --> 01:12:53.000
But did you die?

01:12:54.000 --> 01:12:55.000
No, but I almost died.

01:12:56.000 --> 01:12:58.000
Okay, but we don't care about almost dying.

01:12:59.000 --> 01:13:00.000
We care about deaths, right?

01:13:01.000 --> 01:13:02.000
And so at the end of the day,

01:13:03.000 --> 01:13:04.000
it's like you have to realize like, hey, I'm plugged into a good church.

01:13:05.000 --> 01:13:06.000
We're going soul winning.

01:13:07.000 --> 01:13:08.000
Expect a couple of grazings.

01:13:09.000 --> 01:13:10.000
Expect some mud.

01:13:11.000 --> 01:13:12.000
Expect clothes every once in a while.

01:13:13.000 --> 01:13:14.000
Expect a little bit of just ugliness every once in a while.

01:13:15.000 --> 01:13:16.000
It's just life.

01:13:17.000 --> 01:13:19.000
And frankly speaking, when you get off the battlefield,

01:13:20.000 --> 01:13:21.000
you can have just the same and worse anyways.

01:13:22.000 --> 01:13:23.000
Don't think that you're going to escape.

01:13:24.000 --> 01:13:26.000
Oh, I didn't go to the battlefield, so I'll escape.

01:13:27.000 --> 01:13:29.000
Well, you're just basically going to be taken advantage of

01:13:30.000 --> 01:13:31.000
when the armies and the troops just march through

01:13:32.000 --> 01:13:33.000
just slaughtering everything in their sight.

01:13:34.000 --> 01:13:35.000
You have nobody on your side to fight with you.

01:13:38.000 --> 01:13:39.000
Now, let's keep reading here.

01:13:39.000 --> 01:13:40.000
I already made some application,

01:13:41.000 --> 01:13:42.000
but it's important that you count the cost,

01:13:43.000 --> 01:13:44.000
that you're not afraid,

01:13:45.000 --> 01:13:47.000
that you're willing to lay down your life.

01:13:48.000 --> 01:13:50.000
If you want to really be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ,

01:13:51.000 --> 01:13:52.000
that's the real test.

01:13:53.000 --> 01:13:54.000
Now, he says here in verse 9,

01:13:55.000 --> 01:13:56.000
and it shall be when the office has made an end

01:13:57.000 --> 01:13:58.000
of speaking unto the people,

01:13:59.000 --> 01:14:00.000
that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people.

01:14:01.000 --> 01:14:02.000
So it's important to have leaders,

01:14:03.000 --> 01:14:04.000
and it's important to have captains.

01:14:05.000 --> 01:14:06.000
It says in verse 10,

01:14:06.000 --> 01:14:07.000
that they shall not let the armies of the Lord Jesus Christ

01:14:08.000 --> 01:14:09.000
and his disciples lie unto a city to fight against it,

01:14:10.000 --> 01:14:11.000
then proclaim peace unto it.

01:14:12.000 --> 01:14:13.000
Now, this is what I like about this chapter,

01:14:14.000 --> 01:14:15.000
is even though they're talking about warfare,

01:14:16.000 --> 01:14:17.000
notice that, and they're the aggressor,

01:14:18.000 --> 01:14:19.000
that they're not just willing to slaughter to slaughter.

01:14:20.000 --> 01:14:21.000
If they can have peace, they seek peace first.

01:14:22.000 --> 01:14:23.000
You know, the Bible says that we should be

01:14:24.000 --> 01:14:25.000
peaceable among all men, you know, if possible.

01:14:26.000 --> 01:14:27.000
As much as possible,

01:14:28.000 --> 01:14:30.000
that we should be seeking peace with all men,

01:14:31.000 --> 01:14:32.000
but that doesn't mean it's always possible.

01:14:33.000 --> 01:14:34.000
Obviously, we should try our best to be at peace.

01:14:34.000 --> 01:14:35.000
That should be our first response.

01:14:36.000 --> 01:14:37.000
This would be our default.

01:14:38.000 --> 01:14:39.000
Hey, we just want peace.

01:14:40.000 --> 01:14:41.000
But if they don't want peace,

01:14:42.000 --> 01:14:43.000
well, then we have to go to war.

01:14:44.000 --> 01:14:45.000
Now, if they do want peace here,

01:14:46.000 --> 01:14:47.000
it says specifically in this chapter,

01:14:48.000 --> 01:14:49.000
in verse 11,

01:14:50.000 --> 01:14:51.000
and it shall be, if it make the answer of peace,

01:14:52.000 --> 01:14:53.000
and open unto thee,

01:14:54.000 --> 01:14:55.000
then it shall be that all the people that is found therein

01:14:56.000 --> 01:14:57.000
shall be tributaries unto thee,

01:14:58.000 --> 01:14:59.000
and they shall serve thee.

01:15:00.000 --> 01:15:01.000
Now again, for the most part,

01:15:02.000 --> 01:15:03.000
this never happened with the children of Israel.

01:15:04.000 --> 01:15:05.000
The Gibeonites,

01:15:06.000 --> 01:15:07.000
or the inhabitants of Gibeah,

01:15:08.000 --> 01:15:09.000
they kind of tricked them into a peace agreement.

01:15:10.000 --> 01:15:11.000
But for the most part, you really don't have this.

01:15:12.000 --> 01:15:14.000
So you can kind of tell from this passage alone

01:15:15.000 --> 01:15:17.000
that the land of Canaan was very obstinate

01:15:18.000 --> 01:15:19.000
and rejected the peace of the Lord.

01:15:20.000 --> 01:15:21.000
They did not want the salvation of the Lord,

01:15:22.000 --> 01:15:23.000
but rather they wanted to what?

01:15:24.000 --> 01:15:25.000
Go to war and fight against the Lord,

01:15:26.000 --> 01:15:27.000
and so therefore they were slaughtered,

01:15:28.000 --> 01:15:29.000
they were destroyed.

01:15:30.000 --> 01:15:31.000
Now it says in verse 12,

01:15:31.000 --> 01:15:32.000
And if the Lord thy God hath delivered it into thine hands,

01:15:33.000 --> 01:15:34.000
thou shalt smite every male thereof

01:15:35.000 --> 01:15:36.000
with the edge of the sword.

01:15:37.000 --> 01:15:38.000
So if there's no peace,

01:15:39.000 --> 01:15:40.000
we have to kill them,

01:15:41.000 --> 01:15:42.000
and we have to kill every male,

01:15:43.000 --> 01:15:44.000
specifically besiege the city,

01:15:45.000 --> 01:15:48.000
which means to encircle or basically surround the city.

01:15:50.000 --> 01:15:51.000
But the women and the little ones and the cattle

01:15:52.000 --> 01:15:53.000
and all those in the city,

01:15:54.000 --> 01:15:55.000
they were slaughtered,

01:15:56.000 --> 01:15:57.000
and they were slaughtered,

01:15:58.000 --> 01:15:59.000
and they were slaughtered,

01:15:59.000 --> 01:16:00.000
and the women and the little ones and the cattle

01:16:01.000 --> 01:16:02.000
and all those in the city,

01:16:03.000 --> 01:16:04.000
even all the spoil thereof,

01:16:05.000 --> 01:16:06.000
shalt thou take unto thyself,

01:16:07.000 --> 01:16:08.000
and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies,

01:16:09.000 --> 01:16:10.000
which the Lord thy God hath given thee.

01:16:11.000 --> 01:16:12.000
Thou shalt do unto all the cities

01:16:13.000 --> 01:16:14.000
which are very far off from thee,

01:16:15.000 --> 01:16:16.000
which are not of the cities of these nations.

01:16:17.000 --> 01:16:18.000
So he's also making it clear,

01:16:19.000 --> 01:16:20.000
this is kind of like a later thing.

01:16:21.000 --> 01:16:22.000
The initial cities that they take over,

01:16:23.000 --> 01:16:24.000
they are to slaughter everyone.

01:16:25.000 --> 01:16:26.000
That's what he says here in the next passage,

01:16:27.000 --> 01:16:28.000
he says in verse 16,

01:16:29.000 --> 01:16:30.000
Which the Lord thy God hath given thee for an inheritance,

01:16:31.000 --> 01:16:34.000
thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth,

01:16:35.000 --> 01:16:36.000
but thou shalt utterly destroy them,

01:16:37.000 --> 01:16:38.000
namely the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites,

01:16:39.000 --> 01:16:40.000
the Perizzites, the Hibites, and the Jebusites,

01:16:41.000 --> 01:16:42.000
of the Lord thy God hath commanded thee,

01:16:43.000 --> 01:16:45.000
that they teach you not to do after all their abominations,

01:16:46.000 --> 01:16:47.000
which they have done unto their gods,

01:16:48.000 --> 01:16:51.000
so should ye sin against the Lord your God.

01:16:52.000 --> 01:16:54.000
So if they go to a city and it's peaceful,

01:16:55.000 --> 01:16:56.000
they make peace and they just serve them.

01:16:57.000 --> 01:16:58.000
If they go to the city and it's not peaceful,

01:16:59.000 --> 01:17:00.000
they slaughter all the males,

01:17:01.000 --> 01:17:02.000
keep everybody else alive,

01:17:03.000 --> 01:17:04.000
but only the really far cities,

01:17:05.000 --> 01:17:06.000
any of the near cities,

01:17:07.000 --> 01:17:08.000
they slaughter anything and everything.

01:17:09.000 --> 01:17:10.000
That's basically the principles.

01:17:11.000 --> 01:17:12.000
Spiritual lessons that we can learn from this,

01:17:13.000 --> 01:17:14.000
again, number one, that we should seek for peace in general.

01:17:15.000 --> 01:17:17.000
Notice, if any time these cities made peace with them,

01:17:18.000 --> 01:17:19.000
then they would just make peace with them,

01:17:20.000 --> 01:17:21.000
but that was, again,

01:17:22.000 --> 01:17:23.000
there's the exception of this specific group,

01:17:24.000 --> 01:17:25.000
but this other group doesn't want to make peace,

01:17:26.000 --> 01:17:27.000
they're the enemies of the Lord.

01:17:27.000 --> 01:17:28.000
They're the enemies of false religion,

01:17:29.000 --> 01:17:30.000
enemies of the Lord.

01:17:31.000 --> 01:17:32.000
People that don't want to make peace

01:17:33.000 --> 01:17:34.000
are going to fight, slaughter them anyways.

01:17:35.000 --> 01:17:36.000
These specific groups need to be dealt with.

01:17:37.000 --> 01:17:38.000
A couple lessons we can learn,

01:17:39.000 --> 01:17:40.000
number one, that you kind of need to set a harsh example at first,

01:17:41.000 --> 01:17:43.000
and this harsh example at first

01:17:44.000 --> 01:17:45.000
is then to basically strike the fear into the enemies

01:17:46.000 --> 01:17:49.000
to say like, hey, we're not messing around here,

01:17:50.000 --> 01:17:51.000
hey, we are taking this serious

01:17:52.000 --> 01:17:54.000
and trying to give them the fear of God in their lives,

01:17:55.000 --> 01:17:56.000
and I think that's why God allows

01:17:57.000 --> 01:17:58.000
these horrific deaths, horrific situations

01:17:59.000 --> 01:18:00.000
to be an example unto others.

01:18:01.000 --> 01:18:02.000
You know, Sodom and Gomorrah is an example

01:18:03.000 --> 01:18:05.000
unto those that should afterward live ungodly.

01:18:06.000 --> 01:18:08.000
San Francisco should be repenting in dust and ashes right now

01:18:09.000 --> 01:18:10.000
because of what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah.

01:18:11.000 --> 01:18:14.000
He set that city as an example unto nations afterwards.

01:18:15.000 --> 01:18:16.000
No, like, don't go down this road,

01:18:17.000 --> 01:18:18.000
don't allow your city to be infested with Sodomites

01:18:19.000 --> 01:18:20.000
and freaks and weirdos like this,

01:18:21.000 --> 01:18:22.000
because God will pour out his fierce wrath,

01:18:23.000 --> 01:18:24.000
and God didn't spare in the day of Sodom and Gomorrah.

01:18:24.000 --> 01:18:25.000
God slaughtered all men, women, and children.

01:18:26.000 --> 01:18:27.000
And look, people get squeamish about this.

01:18:28.000 --> 01:18:29.000
God does this all the time.

01:18:30.000 --> 01:18:32.000
How many times is someone just driving down the road

01:18:33.000 --> 01:18:34.000
with their whole family in the car and die,

01:18:35.000 --> 01:18:36.000
and everyone dies in the car accident?

01:18:37.000 --> 01:18:38.000
How many times there is tsunami

01:18:39.000 --> 01:18:40.000
and just wipes out an entire city,

01:18:41.000 --> 01:18:42.000
men, women, children, and grandmas?

01:18:43.000 --> 01:18:44.000
It's not like the grandma survived the tsunami.

01:18:45.000 --> 01:18:46.000
It's not like the grandma survived the earthquake.

01:18:47.000 --> 01:18:50.000
Look, God slaughters man, woman, boy, child, girl,

01:18:51.000 --> 01:18:52.000
all the time, every single day.

01:18:52.000 --> 01:18:53.000
Look, God slaughters man, woman, child, girl, all the time,

01:18:54.000 --> 01:18:55.000
everywhere in this world constantly.

01:18:56.000 --> 01:18:57.000
So if you don't like this story,

01:18:58.000 --> 01:18:59.000
well, welcome to reality.

01:19:00.000 --> 01:19:01.000
That is the reality,

01:19:02.000 --> 01:19:03.000
and this is an example that God is setting.

01:19:04.000 --> 01:19:05.000
You guys across the line,

01:19:06.000 --> 01:19:07.000
you've gone so far against me,

01:19:08.000 --> 01:19:09.000
you've gone into wicked, evil, false religion.

01:19:10.000 --> 01:19:11.000
I mean, the women are slaughtering their own children

01:19:12.000 --> 01:19:13.000
and worshiping the devil with it.

01:19:14.000 --> 01:19:15.000
I mean, what should happen to women

01:19:16.000 --> 01:19:17.000
that are literally burning their children

01:19:18.000 --> 01:19:19.000
in fire to Satan?

01:19:20.000 --> 01:19:21.000
I think we would all sit here and be like,

01:19:22.000 --> 01:19:23.000
I'm fine with that feminist being toasted.

01:19:24.000 --> 01:19:26.000
But then you read the story and you get squeamish,

01:19:27.000 --> 01:19:28.000
like, oh, how dare God kill women?

01:19:29.000 --> 01:19:30.000
Look, these aren't just like women.

01:19:31.000 --> 01:19:34.000
These are femme tard, psychopathic freaks

01:19:35.000 --> 01:19:37.000
that are murdering and slaughtering their children,

01:19:38.000 --> 01:19:42.000
laying with beasts, committing incest, committing sodomy,

01:19:43.000 --> 01:19:46.000
and God's just like, hey, we're going to just wipe out everything here.

01:19:47.000 --> 01:19:49.000
It makes it the murderers.

01:19:50.000 --> 01:19:51.000
I mean, look, these are all people worthy of heaven.

01:19:52.000 --> 01:19:53.000
They deserve capital punishment.

01:19:54.000 --> 01:19:55.000
God's just saying, let's execute capital punishment.

01:19:56.000 --> 01:19:57.000
And obviously, this whole group of people

01:19:58.000 --> 01:19:59.000
could very easily be diseased

01:20:00.000 --> 01:20:01.000
and have physical diseases

01:20:02.000 --> 01:20:03.000
that if they bring into the camp

01:20:04.000 --> 01:20:05.000
would just slaughter all the other people.

01:20:06.000 --> 01:20:07.000
Oh, we're going to be gracious

01:20:08.000 --> 01:20:09.000
and bring some of these children into our city that are diseased.

01:20:10.000 --> 01:20:11.000
But then it's going to kill everybody.

01:20:12.000 --> 01:20:13.000
Look, you don't understand why God does everything he does,

01:20:14.000 --> 01:20:15.000
but you need to trust it.

01:20:16.000 --> 01:20:18.000
And just because you think you're more merciful

01:20:19.000 --> 01:20:20.000
and gracious than God doesn't actually make you

01:20:20.000 --> 01:20:21.000
more merciful and gracious than God.

01:20:22.000 --> 01:20:25.000
God is the most gracious and the most merciful

01:20:26.000 --> 01:20:27.000
and the most kind.

01:20:28.000 --> 01:20:29.000
And in his wisdom, he understood, hey, these people have to be slaughtered.

01:20:30.000 --> 01:20:31.000
And sometimes people have to be slaughtered.

01:20:32.000 --> 01:20:33.000
Now, does that mean that we should just kill women and children?

01:20:34.000 --> 01:20:36.000
No. God's general policies do not be like that.

01:20:37.000 --> 01:20:38.000
It's just this specific example,

01:20:39.000 --> 01:20:40.000
and there's a really specific reason.

01:20:41.000 --> 01:20:42.000
Read Leviticus chapter 20 and then come back to me.

01:20:43.000 --> 01:20:44.000
Okay?

01:20:45.000 --> 01:20:46.000
It's a lot different picture than is being painted by a lot of people,

01:20:47.000 --> 01:20:49.000
by atheists and phagnostics and whatever.

01:20:50.000 --> 01:20:57.000
Now, also take note of the fact that women of foreign nations

01:20:58.000 --> 01:21:00.000
were often just brought in to be wives of the children of Israel.

01:21:01.000 --> 01:21:04.000
So they didn't have a perfect genetic line, some pure blood line.

01:21:05.000 --> 01:21:08.000
And many cases, women were just brought into the children of Israel

01:21:09.000 --> 01:21:10.000
and they had women.

01:21:11.000 --> 01:21:14.000
You have Rahab the harlot just brought in to the children of Israel.

01:21:15.000 --> 01:21:17.000
She's going to be one of the first of the captives brought in.

01:21:17.000 --> 01:21:20.000
And then guess whose descendant is hers is Jesus.

01:21:21.000 --> 01:21:23.000
Literally, Jesus is a descendant of a woman

01:21:24.000 --> 01:21:26.000
who's not of the descendants of the children of Israel.

01:21:27.000 --> 01:21:29.000
And of course, this can happen in multiple situations.

01:21:30.000 --> 01:21:32.000
But again, it's not this, quote, pure blood line

01:21:33.000 --> 01:21:35.000
of just, quote, Hebrews with weird noses.

01:21:36.000 --> 01:21:39.000
No, in some cases, they brought in some genetic diversity.

01:21:40.000 --> 01:21:42.000
And there was nothing wrong with genetic diversity in the Old Testament.

01:21:43.000 --> 01:21:44.000
I mean, Moses marries an Ethiopian woman.

01:21:44.000 --> 01:21:46.000
There are going to be a lot more mixed than you probably realize.

01:21:47.000 --> 01:21:49.000
They're probably more mixed than almost any other nation in the world.

01:21:50.000 --> 01:21:51.000
Kind of like America is today.

01:21:52.000 --> 01:21:54.000
I guarantee the children of Israel probably had more mixing

01:21:55.000 --> 01:21:57.000
because people that wanted to serve God would come of foreign nations

01:21:58.000 --> 01:21:59.000
and want to join the nation.

01:22:00.000 --> 01:22:02.000
Whereas other nations are much more racist.

01:22:03.000 --> 01:22:05.000
Nations that are not Christian, way more racist than Christian nations.

01:22:06.000 --> 01:22:08.000
Christian nations by and large are less racist

01:22:09.000 --> 01:22:11.000
and have a little bit more tolerance of being racist.

01:22:11.000 --> 01:22:13.000
Again, people in general are very prejudiced and very racial

01:22:14.000 --> 01:22:15.000
and very tribal by nature.

01:22:16.000 --> 01:22:18.000
But just in general, the Lord's people were the most open

01:22:19.000 --> 01:22:21.000
throughout history and continue to be so, Christians.

01:22:22.000 --> 01:22:23.000
Look at our church. Our church is way more diverse.

01:22:24.000 --> 01:22:26.000
You think if you and I go down to the local mosque,

01:22:27.000 --> 01:22:28.000
there's going to be a lot of diversity there?

01:22:29.000 --> 01:22:31.000
You think if we go to some Hindu establishment,

01:22:32.000 --> 01:22:33.000
you think if we go to some synagogue,

01:22:34.000 --> 01:22:35.000
there's going to be a lot of diversity there?

01:22:36.000 --> 01:22:38.000
You think if we go to some Hindu establishment,

01:22:39.000 --> 01:22:40.000
you think if we go to some synagogue,

01:22:41.000 --> 01:22:42.000
there's going to be a lot of racial diversity there?

01:22:43.000 --> 01:22:45.000
How many Filipinos do you think are at the synagogue?

01:22:46.000 --> 01:22:48.000
Sometimes we've had people come in and criticize

01:22:49.000 --> 01:22:51.000
that we don't have a ton of black people in our church,

01:22:52.000 --> 01:22:54.000
which is like, well, you're only 13% of the population, number one.

01:22:55.000 --> 01:22:59.000
But even if we didn't have 50% black people or something,

01:23:00.000 --> 01:23:01.000
it's like, is that at the synagogue?

01:23:02.000 --> 01:23:05.000
Is that at the mosque?

01:23:06.000 --> 01:23:10.000
Is that at the country club?

01:23:11.000 --> 01:23:12.000
Let's ask Dallas Country Club,

01:23:13.000 --> 01:23:14.000
what percentage of black people they have there?

01:23:15.000 --> 01:23:16.000
Are they now bad?

01:23:17.000 --> 01:23:20.000
Now, again, look, I wish our church was 50% black,

01:23:21.000 --> 01:23:22.000
but that just means we had more saved people in our church.

01:23:23.000 --> 01:23:24.000
Because you know what? I don't give a rip.

01:23:25.000 --> 01:23:27.000
Somebody like, oh, you teach mixed racing is fine.

01:23:28.000 --> 01:23:29.000
Yeah, I do. Get over it.

01:23:30.000 --> 01:23:34.000
God is letting these people mix race.

01:23:35.000 --> 01:23:37.000
Did he say, hey, do not bring these women in

01:23:38.000 --> 01:23:39.000
and do not marry them? No.

01:23:39.000 --> 01:23:41.000
He said, hey, you want to marry them? Marry them.

01:23:42.000 --> 01:23:44.000
And it doesn't say what ethnicity. It says any.

01:23:45.000 --> 01:23:47.000
Look, there are white supremacists that are alive and well

01:23:48.000 --> 01:23:49.000
in our nation and in our country that think

01:23:50.000 --> 01:23:52.000
that we need to just be a white nation.

01:23:53.000 --> 01:23:54.000
Let me tell you something. Europe was white

01:23:55.000 --> 01:23:56.000
when they hated the gospel too.

01:23:57.000 --> 01:24:00.000
The Roman Catholic Church slaughtered Christians

01:24:01.000 --> 01:24:03.000
by the droves and they were all white.

01:24:04.000 --> 01:24:06.000
White man is not your, quote, friend.

01:24:06.000 --> 01:24:08.000
He's not the dog of this world, man's best friend

01:24:09.000 --> 01:24:10.000
or something like this.

01:24:11.000 --> 01:24:13.000
Okay? And look, I'm not dogging on white people.

01:24:14.000 --> 01:24:15.000
There's great white people.

01:24:16.000 --> 01:24:17.000
In my opinion, it's like white people are some of the best

01:24:18.000 --> 01:24:19.000
and some of the worst people in this world,

01:24:20.000 --> 01:24:21.000
frankly speaking. Okay?

01:24:22.000 --> 01:24:23.000
It's not to say that white people are superior

01:24:24.000 --> 01:24:25.000
to other people is stupid.

01:24:26.000 --> 01:24:27.000
It's foolish. It's nonsense.

01:24:28.000 --> 01:24:29.000
The children of Israel were not genetically superior

01:24:30.000 --> 01:24:31.000
and they could intermarry.

01:24:32.000 --> 01:24:34.000
In fact, according to the text, they were genetically inferior

01:24:34.000 --> 01:24:35.000
to their counterpoints in many ways.

01:24:36.000 --> 01:24:38.000
He said that the nations were taller and greater than them

01:24:39.000 --> 01:24:41.000
and I believe that was physical, not only in number of people.

01:24:42.000 --> 01:24:45.000
And look, who cares about this kind of stuff?

01:24:46.000 --> 01:24:47.000
Only racists care about this kind of stuff

01:24:48.000 --> 01:24:49.000
because they're carnal.

01:24:50.000 --> 01:24:51.000
Who gives a rip?

01:24:52.000 --> 01:24:53.000
We should stop being carnal and care about souls.

01:24:54.000 --> 01:24:55.000
What color is a soul?

01:24:56.000 --> 01:25:00.000
I don't even know. Does it have a color?

01:25:01.000 --> 01:25:02.000
I don't know. But you know what?

01:25:02.000 --> 01:25:03.000
It doesn't matter to me.

01:25:04.000 --> 01:25:05.000
And you know what? In heaven,

01:25:06.000 --> 01:25:07.000
there's people from every nation in heaven.

01:25:08.000 --> 01:25:10.000
How did that happen?

01:25:11.000 --> 01:25:12.000
Because new people went there and got them saved.

01:25:13.000 --> 01:25:14.000
That's how it happened.

01:25:15.000 --> 01:25:17.000
Now, for a second time, I'm just going to kind of get through

01:25:18.000 --> 01:25:20.000
the rest of this quickly so I can make a few more applications.

01:25:21.000 --> 01:25:23.000
But he says in verse number 17,

01:25:24.000 --> 01:25:26.000
he gives the list of the cities that we can't save

01:25:27.000 --> 01:25:29.000
or the nations, but that's what utterly destroyed them,

01:25:30.000 --> 01:25:31.000
namely the Hittites and the Amorites and the Canaanites

01:25:32.000 --> 01:25:33.000
and the Hivites and the Jebusites

01:25:34.000 --> 01:25:35.000
and the Lord thy God of command.

01:25:36.000 --> 01:25:39.000
That they teach you not to do after all their abominations,

01:25:40.000 --> 01:25:41.000
which they have done unto their gods,

01:25:42.000 --> 01:25:43.000
so should you sin against the Lord your God.

01:25:44.000 --> 01:25:45.000
Again, another application is that you shouldn't marry

01:25:46.000 --> 01:25:48.000
an unsaved person because they could drag you down

01:25:49.000 --> 01:25:50.000
to their false religion.

01:25:51.000 --> 01:25:52.000
Verse 19, when thou shalt besiege a city a long time

01:25:53.000 --> 01:25:54.000
in making war against it, to take it,

01:25:55.000 --> 01:25:57.000
thou shalt not destroy the trees thereby forcing an axe against them,

01:25:58.000 --> 01:26:00.000
for thou mayest eat of them and thou shalt not cut them down,

01:26:00.000 --> 01:26:01.000
for the tree of the field is man's life,

01:26:02.000 --> 01:26:03.000
to employ them in the siege.

01:26:04.000 --> 01:26:06.000
Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat,

01:26:07.000 --> 01:26:08.000
thou shalt destroy and cut them down,

01:26:09.000 --> 01:26:10.000
and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city

01:26:11.000 --> 01:26:12.000
that maketh war with thee until it be subdued.

01:26:13.000 --> 01:26:16.000
So kind of the last point is about the siege

01:26:17.000 --> 01:26:18.000
or siegeing a city.

01:26:19.000 --> 01:26:21.000
This is a tactic typically employed in warfare,

01:26:22.000 --> 01:26:24.000
especially historically, even in modern times,

01:26:25.000 --> 01:26:27.000
where you basically just stop the going in and out of a city.

01:26:28.000 --> 01:26:29.000
When you surround the city with the city,

01:26:30.000 --> 01:26:32.000
they can no longer come and go to the city,

01:26:33.000 --> 01:26:34.000
so it cuts off their supply lines.

01:26:35.000 --> 01:26:36.000
By cutting off their supply lines,

01:26:37.000 --> 01:26:38.000
they're going to run out of food, water,

01:26:39.000 --> 01:26:41.000
just all the necessary goods for that particular city,

01:26:42.000 --> 01:26:44.000
and you're basically putting them in a bad position.

01:26:45.000 --> 01:26:46.000
Because if you go against the city,

01:26:47.000 --> 01:26:48.000
well they have the walls of the city

01:26:49.000 --> 01:26:50.000
to basically throw rocks and shoot arrows,

01:26:51.000 --> 01:26:55.000
and it's basically a disadvantage to try and go against a city.

01:26:56.000 --> 01:26:57.000
That's why the city exists, that's why the walls exist.

01:26:57.000 --> 01:26:58.000
But if you can't outlast them,

01:26:59.000 --> 01:27:01.000
then you're basically in a world of hurt.

01:27:02.000 --> 01:27:03.000
We see this in the Bible.

01:27:04.000 --> 01:27:05.000
There's many stories that this is going to happen,

01:27:06.000 --> 01:27:07.000
where cities get besieged.

01:27:08.000 --> 01:27:09.000
You have the famous story of the four lepers that are just,

01:27:10.000 --> 01:27:11.000
they're like, why sit we here until we die?

01:27:12.000 --> 01:27:13.000
And they just, they run out,

01:27:14.000 --> 01:27:17.000
and they realize that all the enemies had fled from the siege,

01:27:18.000 --> 01:27:19.000
and they left all these goods.

01:27:20.000 --> 01:27:23.000
Now the siege can be dangerous to the army too though,

01:27:24.000 --> 01:27:25.000
because you're also just an unprotected,

01:27:25.000 --> 01:27:26.000
just circle around a city.

01:27:27.000 --> 01:27:28.000
So you're not really in a good position

01:27:29.000 --> 01:27:31.000
if enemies came and kind of attacked you.

01:27:32.000 --> 01:27:34.000
So what cities often hope for is that they hire some other country

01:27:35.000 --> 01:27:38.000
or troops and they come and they basically run off the siege,

01:27:39.000 --> 01:27:40.000
and then they're rescued.

01:27:41.000 --> 01:27:43.000
Or that they fight them, or they outlast them.

01:27:44.000 --> 01:27:47.000
They don't have enough supplies to basically last in the siege,

01:27:48.000 --> 01:27:49.000
and they can kind of wait them out.

01:27:50.000 --> 01:27:52.000
But in general the siege is more advantageous to the group

01:27:53.000 --> 01:27:54.000
that's besieging the city.

01:27:55.000 --> 01:27:57.000
It's more likely they can keep having their supply lines come,

01:27:58.000 --> 01:27:59.000
they're good, and they're just going to wait it out.

01:28:00.000 --> 01:28:01.000
And if you think about it, you basically just wait them out,

01:28:02.000 --> 01:28:03.000
they get all starving and hungry,

01:28:04.000 --> 01:28:05.000
and then they just surrender and you didn't have to fight.

01:28:06.000 --> 01:28:08.000
It's just kind of a superior warfare tactic.

01:28:09.000 --> 01:28:10.000
America does this.

01:28:11.000 --> 01:28:13.000
In modern situations we do these kind of things.

01:28:14.000 --> 01:28:19.000
You know, Japan specifically was basically blockaded by the United States

01:28:20.000 --> 01:28:23.000
to where we were not allowing imports to come and go to Japan.

01:28:23.000 --> 01:28:28.000
And Japan was a country that relies upon imports in a major way,

01:28:29.000 --> 01:28:31.000
because it's like this tiny little island doesn't have all the natural resources.

01:28:32.000 --> 01:28:33.000
It's used to importing all kinds of goods.

01:28:34.000 --> 01:28:37.000
Well when the United States military and navy is basically blockading that,

01:28:38.000 --> 01:28:39.000
well now they're in trouble.

01:28:40.000 --> 01:28:41.000
So then they bomb Pearl Harbor.

01:28:42.000 --> 01:28:45.000
Why? Because we did the first act of war against them

01:28:46.000 --> 01:28:49.000
by performing a siege against them.

01:28:49.000 --> 01:28:54.000
Yet, history books want to tell you that Japan just randomly attacked Pearl Harbor, right?

01:28:55.000 --> 01:28:57.000
I mean, who in here is just like going to school and just like,

01:28:58.000 --> 01:28:59.000
yeah, and then they just bomb Pearl Harbor.

01:29:00.000 --> 01:29:03.000
You're like, why would Japan just randomly bomb Pearl Harbor?

01:29:04.000 --> 01:29:05.000
You know why?

01:29:06.000 --> 01:29:08.000
Because they were literally blocked in with no food or water.

01:29:09.000 --> 01:29:10.000
Think about it.

01:29:11.000 --> 01:29:12.000
What if a whole bunch of Muslims just surround your house

01:29:13.000 --> 01:29:15.000
and you can't come and go inside and outside your house?

01:29:16.000 --> 01:29:17.000
You might attack them eventually

01:29:17.000 --> 01:29:19.000
instead of just staying there and starving to death, right?

01:29:20.000 --> 01:29:22.000
And then they're like, oh, you initiated this.

01:29:23.000 --> 01:29:24.000
You're like, heck no, I didn't.

01:29:25.000 --> 01:29:26.000
You guys surrounded my house.

01:29:27.000 --> 01:29:28.000
You guys were stopping me from coming and going.

01:29:29.000 --> 01:29:30.000
That's not fair, okay?

01:29:31.000 --> 01:29:34.000
So again, I'm not trying to defend Japan, and I'm not trying to defend America.

01:29:35.000 --> 01:29:36.000
I'm just telling you what happened.

01:29:37.000 --> 01:29:38.000
America was stopping the trade.

01:29:39.000 --> 01:29:40.000
That was the first act of war.

01:29:41.000 --> 01:29:43.000
The second act of war was them bombing Pearl Harbor.

01:29:44.000 --> 01:29:45.000
And then we bombed back way harder.

01:29:45.000 --> 01:29:47.000
It's kind of like that guy that's just like getting in your face

01:29:48.000 --> 01:29:49.000
and just kind of forcing you to throw the first punch

01:29:50.000 --> 01:29:51.000
so then he can destroy you.

01:29:52.000 --> 01:29:53.000
So then he can claim like, oh, you threw the first punch.

01:29:54.000 --> 01:29:55.000
That's basically their tactic.

01:29:56.000 --> 01:29:58.000
And this happens all the time today.

01:29:59.000 --> 01:30:01.000
So this is a typical warfare tactic.

01:30:02.000 --> 01:30:04.000
I just, you know, I want to make sure that we understand this.

01:30:05.000 --> 01:30:08.000
So when you're sitting there, just waiting it out,

01:30:09.000 --> 01:30:11.000
God's saying, don't cut down the fruit trees then,

01:30:12.000 --> 01:30:14.000
because you guys are going to have to wait this out

01:30:15.000 --> 01:30:16.000
because you're going to have to wait this out.

01:30:17.000 --> 01:30:18.000
You need to eat.

01:30:19.000 --> 01:30:21.000
So it makes sense if you're going to build bulwarks.

01:30:22.000 --> 01:30:23.000
Again, you know, when you're besieging the city,

01:30:24.000 --> 01:30:26.000
they're often going to build like little temporary houses.

01:30:27.000 --> 01:30:29.000
They're going to build like long stakes and pikes

01:30:30.000 --> 01:30:33.000
and different instruments of war that they can use against the city, right?

01:30:34.000 --> 01:30:35.000
They're going to build like little fortresses

01:30:36.000 --> 01:30:37.000
and they're going to build weapons and all that stuff.

01:30:38.000 --> 01:30:40.000
Well, it's like, don't cut down the trees that have food on them though.

01:30:41.000 --> 01:30:42.000
Only the trees that don't have food on them

01:30:42.000 --> 01:30:45.000
because you're hurting yourself by cutting down these fruit bearing trees.

01:30:46.000 --> 01:30:49.000
You want to keep them alive so you can eat, so you can keep doing what?

01:30:50.000 --> 01:30:51.000
You can keep fighting.

01:30:52.000 --> 01:30:55.000
So if you don't keep the food, then you don't keep fighting.

01:30:56.000 --> 01:30:59.000
You know, and we can apply a lot of applications to this.

01:31:00.000 --> 01:31:03.000
Here's one is that, you know, you don't want to just sacrifice your job

01:31:04.000 --> 01:31:09.000
and career completely to where you can't actually keep doing soul winning.

01:31:09.000 --> 01:31:10.000
Like some people just want to basically like,

01:31:11.000 --> 01:31:14.000
I'm just going to quit my job and my career and just become a soul winner.

01:31:15.000 --> 01:31:16.000
It's like, well, do you have any money? No.

01:31:17.000 --> 01:31:19.000
Well, that might not work out.

01:31:20.000 --> 01:31:23.000
Like it doesn't necessarily work to just cut down all the fruit trees

01:31:24.000 --> 01:31:25.000
to just go to war.

01:31:26.000 --> 01:31:29.000
Like you might have to keep some fruit trees around so that you can keep warring.

01:31:30.000 --> 01:31:31.000
And what's better in the long term?

01:31:32.000 --> 01:31:33.000
It's probably better in the long term that, you know what,

01:31:34.000 --> 01:31:35.000
you still have some money coming in

01:31:36.000 --> 01:31:37.000
and then you can also keep doing the soul winning, right?

01:31:37.000 --> 01:31:38.000
And so there's kind of that balance.

01:31:39.000 --> 01:31:42.000
There's that balance of like, I don't want to just cut everything off of my life

01:31:43.000 --> 01:31:45.000
just so I can quote go soul winning so much.

01:31:46.000 --> 01:31:48.000
It's like, hey, you might actually need to keep the fruit trees going too

01:31:49.000 --> 01:31:50.000
and tend to them and take care of them.

01:31:51.000 --> 01:31:54.000
Oh, well, taking care of fruit trees doesn't win the battle.

01:31:55.000 --> 01:31:56.000
No, it doesn't.

01:31:57.000 --> 01:31:59.000
No one won a battle by watering an apple tree.

01:32:00.000 --> 01:32:03.000
You going and being nice to the apple tree will never win the battle.

01:32:04.000 --> 01:32:05.000
But you know what it does?

01:32:05.000 --> 01:32:07.000
It keeps you alive and then you can win the battle

01:32:08.000 --> 01:32:10.000
in the same way that, hey, providing for yourself

01:32:11.000 --> 01:32:12.000
and taking care of your needs and having the trees

01:32:13.000 --> 01:32:15.000
help so that people can fight the battle.

01:32:16.000 --> 01:32:18.000
Aren't you glad that other people take care of apples so that you can eat them?

01:32:19.000 --> 01:32:21.000
I mean, what if no one took care of apples?

01:32:22.000 --> 01:32:23.000
What if no one had food?

01:32:24.000 --> 01:32:25.000
Well, then now we're in trouble.

01:32:26.000 --> 01:32:28.000
And you know, don't get mad at the guy that's over here just cranking out apples.

01:32:29.000 --> 01:32:30.000
You should be thankful for that guy.

01:32:31.000 --> 01:32:32.000
You should like that guy.

01:32:33.000 --> 01:32:34.000
We like the apple tree guy.

01:32:35.000 --> 01:32:36.000
He cares about apples.

01:32:37.000 --> 01:32:38.000
Well, are you eating them?

01:32:39.000 --> 01:32:40.000
Well, yeah.

01:32:41.000 --> 01:32:42.000
Don't get mad.

01:32:43.000 --> 01:32:44.000
Don't bite the hand that feeds.

01:32:45.000 --> 01:32:46.000
Right?

01:32:47.000 --> 01:32:48.000
And look, there's a lot of people that supply the economic means

01:32:49.000 --> 01:32:50.000
for us to do the battle and for us to do the work.

01:32:51.000 --> 01:32:52.000
We should be very thankful for those people.

01:32:53.000 --> 01:32:54.000
We don't want to cut them off.

01:32:55.000 --> 01:32:56.000
Let's take another application.

01:32:57.000 --> 01:32:58.000
Isn't he that win his souls wise?

01:32:59.000 --> 01:33:00.000
And the Bible says that he's a tree of life.

01:33:01.000 --> 01:33:02.000
So we could look at the fruit bearing trees as like someone that's bearing fruit

01:33:03.000 --> 01:33:04.000
is like a soul winner or someone that's getting people saved.

01:33:05.000 --> 01:33:08.000
And here's another idea that in the battle, in the spiritual battle,

01:33:09.000 --> 01:33:10.000
you know, is not our enemy.

01:33:11.000 --> 01:33:15.000
Soul winners in the spiritual battle, you know, is not our enemy.

01:33:16.000 --> 01:33:20.000
Churches bearing fruit like and there's so few of them.

01:33:21.000 --> 01:33:24.000
Why would we want to cut them down in the battle?

01:33:25.000 --> 01:33:27.000
We want to keep them going so that we can keep going to.

01:33:28.000 --> 01:33:31.000
We need as many fruit trees as we can get on our team.

01:33:32.000 --> 01:33:33.000
We don't want to cut them down. We want to destroy them.

01:33:33.000 --> 01:33:35.000
Now, trees that have no fruit, the Bible says just destroy it.

01:33:36.000 --> 01:33:39.000
So it's like, you know, you look at churches like Gateway,

01:33:40.000 --> 01:33:41.000
it's like just destroy it, burn it, cut it down.

01:33:42.000 --> 01:33:44.000
Right. Look, there's other trees in the Dallas Forest area

01:33:45.000 --> 01:33:47.000
that are fruit bearing trees that preach the gospel,

01:33:48.000 --> 01:33:49.000
that are doing soul winning.

01:33:50.000 --> 01:33:51.000
You know, they are not my enemy.

01:33:52.000 --> 01:33:55.000
They are not somebody that we should want to wish harm to or do harm to.

01:33:56.000 --> 01:33:58.000
We should leave them alone. We should be good to them.

01:33:59.000 --> 01:34:00.000
We should be kind to them.

01:34:00.000 --> 01:34:01.000
We should be nice to them.

01:34:02.000 --> 01:34:04.000
We don't want to harm other churches that are preaching the right gospel

01:34:05.000 --> 01:34:07.000
and doing soul winning other churches like this in the world.

01:34:08.000 --> 01:34:09.000
We want to be nice to, we want to be kind to.

01:34:10.000 --> 01:34:12.000
In fact, we should be the nicest to those people.

01:34:13.000 --> 01:34:14.000
We should want to do the best to those people.

01:34:15.000 --> 01:34:16.000
We won't want to cut them down.

01:34:17.000 --> 01:34:19.000
We wouldn't want to harm them in any kind of way.

01:34:20.000 --> 01:34:21.000
What a detriment to the overall battle.

01:34:22.000 --> 01:34:24.000
If we're over here trying to cut down a literal fruit tree

01:34:25.000 --> 01:34:26.000
and you know what could be cutting down a fruit tree?

01:34:27.000 --> 01:34:28.000
How about the fruit tree needs water, right?

01:34:28.000 --> 01:34:29.000
Water.

01:34:30.000 --> 01:34:32.000
So you know, you could just be stealing water from the fruit tree.

01:34:33.000 --> 01:34:35.000
No, no, no. We want to make sure that we're watering the other fruit trees.

01:34:36.000 --> 01:34:38.000
We want to water the fruit trees and give them nutrients and take care of them.

01:34:39.000 --> 01:34:41.000
We don't want to cut down the literal fruit tree.

01:34:42.000 --> 01:34:43.000
We want to make sure the fruit tree is going well.

01:34:44.000 --> 01:34:48.000
Now, what I'm not saying here is that a church that is soul winning

01:34:49.000 --> 01:34:52.000
could never in any way be corrected or called out.

01:34:53.000 --> 01:34:54.000
That is not what I'm saying. Okay.

01:34:55.000 --> 01:34:56.000
But what we wouldn't want to do is cut them down.

01:34:56.000 --> 01:34:57.000
Go to 2 Timothy chapter 4.

01:34:58.000 --> 01:34:59.000
Let's look at a few more verses here.

01:35:00.000 --> 01:35:01.000
Buckle up.

01:35:02.000 --> 01:35:04.000
I know you're excited to drive in the rain, but you know, you can wait.

01:35:05.000 --> 01:35:07.000
2 Timothy chapter 4.

01:35:08.000 --> 01:35:16.000
You know, Steadfast Baptist Church in 2019 was a fruit bearing tree.

01:35:17.000 --> 01:35:18.000
Had good soul winners in it.

01:35:19.000 --> 01:35:21.000
But you know what? The pastor got called out.

01:35:22.000 --> 01:35:23.000
And look, for good reason.

01:35:23.000 --> 01:35:25.000
You know, the pastor was called out by Pastor Stephen Anderson.

01:35:26.000 --> 01:35:27.000
Donnie Romero was the pastor at the time.

01:35:28.000 --> 01:35:29.000
He's being called out.

01:35:30.000 --> 01:35:32.000
You know, Pastor Anderson wasn't trying to cut down Steadfast Baptist Church.

01:35:33.000 --> 01:35:35.000
He wasn't trying to destroy Steadfast Baptist Church.

01:35:36.000 --> 01:35:38.000
He wanted good for Steadfast Baptist Church.

01:35:39.000 --> 01:35:40.000
You know, 2 Timothy chapter 4.

01:35:41.000 --> 01:35:42.000
Look at verse 10.

01:35:43.000 --> 01:35:44.000
For Demas hath forsaken me having loved this present world.

01:35:45.000 --> 01:35:46.000
You know, I don't think Demas is a bad guy.

01:35:47.000 --> 01:35:48.000
Demas is mentioned positively in the Bible.

01:35:49.000 --> 01:35:50.000
But then he became bad and now he's getting called out.

01:35:50.000 --> 01:35:51.000
Look, sometimes Christians still get called out.

01:35:52.000 --> 01:35:54.000
And not only him, it says, and his departed on a Thessalonica,

01:35:55.000 --> 01:35:56.000
Crescent as a glacier, Titus unto Domitia.

01:35:57.000 --> 01:35:58.000
Only Luke is with me.

01:35:59.000 --> 01:36:00.000
Take Mark and bring him with me, for he's profitable to me for the ministry.

01:36:01.000 --> 01:36:05.000
Antichokas have I sent to Ephesus, the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus,

01:36:06.000 --> 01:36:08.000
when thou comest bring with thee and the books, but especially the parchments.

01:36:09.000 --> 01:36:10.000
Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil.

01:36:11.000 --> 01:36:12.000
The Lord reward him according to his works.

01:36:13.000 --> 01:36:14.000
Of whom be thou, and of whom be thy children.

01:36:15.000 --> 01:36:16.000
And I am the son of the Lord.

01:36:17.000 --> 01:36:18.000
Ohio Speed french amid Easyrados Corn proxy вол LGPO

01:36:20.000 --> 01:36:20.000

01:36:22.000 --> 01:36:42.260
Tasteemo

01:36:42.260 --> 01:36:48.500
God's house and its money to be going to literal casinos and prostitutes, folks.

01:36:48.500 --> 01:36:52.540
That's taking the money, that's taking the watering of the fruit tree and giving it to

01:36:52.540 --> 01:36:53.540
a dead tree.

01:36:53.540 --> 01:36:56.500
You want to say like, hey, stop watering the dead tree.

01:36:56.500 --> 01:37:00.260
We're going to cut that one down and we're going to put more water back on the actual

01:37:00.260 --> 01:37:01.820
fruit bearing trees.

01:37:01.820 --> 01:37:04.940
You know, we're going to put it on the Bahamas, okay?

01:37:04.940 --> 01:37:06.340
We're going to put it on the Philippines.

01:37:06.340 --> 01:37:07.620
We're going to put it on Mexico.

01:37:07.620 --> 01:37:10.780
We're going to put it on somewhere where we're going to actually produce some fruit.

01:37:10.780 --> 01:37:12.740
That just makes logical sense.

01:37:12.740 --> 01:37:16.340
Look bad people can be called out and look bad people were exposed and the trash was

01:37:16.340 --> 01:37:17.340
taken out and you know what?

01:37:17.340 --> 01:37:20.540
The soul winners got better at St. Basil's Baptist Church, not worse.

01:37:20.540 --> 01:37:21.740
So we brought forth more fruit.

01:37:21.740 --> 01:37:24.700
Go if you went to 1 Timothy 1 and look at verse 15.

01:37:24.700 --> 01:37:27.380
Whole churches may be called out.

01:37:27.380 --> 01:37:32.140
In the book of Revelation chapter 2, the church which is at Ephesus, which is going to forsake

01:37:32.140 --> 01:37:35.700
the first works is not going to have the first love anymore.

01:37:35.700 --> 01:37:37.380
God says he'll take their candlestick away.

01:37:37.380 --> 01:37:38.380
Why?

01:37:38.380 --> 01:37:42.220
That's basically was producing fruit, but now it's not producing fruit.

01:37:42.220 --> 01:37:46.540
Well then why cumbers at the ground is basically what the passage says, you know.

01:37:46.540 --> 01:37:52.340
And in 1 Timothy chapter 1, look at verse 15.

01:37:52.340 --> 01:37:54.300
I'm sorry, I meant, I think I meant chapter 2.

01:37:54.300 --> 01:37:55.780
I probably meant chapter 2.

01:37:55.780 --> 01:37:59.340
Sorry, I meant chapter 2 and I wrote down the wrong number.

01:37:59.340 --> 01:38:00.820
Chapter 2 verse 1 verse 15.

01:38:00.820 --> 01:38:05.180
This thou knowest that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me of whom are

01:38:05.180 --> 01:38:07.180
fidelis and homogenes.

01:38:07.180 --> 01:38:10.620
The Lord give mercy on the house of Onesiphorus for he oft refreshed me and was not ashamed

01:38:10.620 --> 01:38:11.620
of my chain.

01:38:11.620 --> 01:38:18.100
Look, isn't it interesting that Asia turned away from the Apostle Paul, like the entire

01:38:18.100 --> 01:38:21.020
group turned away from the Apostle Paul.

01:38:21.020 --> 01:38:23.300
And then what did the Apostle Paul do?

01:38:23.300 --> 01:38:24.660
He called them all out.

01:38:24.660 --> 01:38:26.060
Did he not?

01:38:26.060 --> 01:38:29.260
I mean, they're funding, I mean, they're funding, this is their missionary.

01:38:29.260 --> 01:38:32.500
This is their evangelist and they're not funding him.

01:38:32.500 --> 01:38:34.020
They're not supporting him anymore.

01:38:34.020 --> 01:38:35.700
And so you know what the Apostle Paul does?

01:38:35.740 --> 01:38:39.580
Well, fine, you guys are going to, you're going to turn off the water spigot to me,

01:38:39.580 --> 01:38:41.580
then I'm going to call all of you out.

01:38:41.580 --> 01:38:43.220
Asia's turned away from me.

01:38:43.220 --> 01:38:44.900
Asia's not supporting me.

01:38:44.900 --> 01:38:46.820
Asia's not funding me anymore.

01:38:46.820 --> 01:38:48.100
Asia's not doing this anymore.

01:38:48.100 --> 01:38:49.100
You know what?

01:38:49.100 --> 01:38:50.100
They get called out because you know what?

01:38:50.100 --> 01:38:52.580
They're harming the fruit production again.

01:38:52.580 --> 01:38:56.500
It doesn't matter if some of them are saying, I mean, the letter of Revelation is written

01:38:56.500 --> 01:38:58.180
to the seven churches which are in what?

01:38:58.180 --> 01:38:59.420
Oh, Asia.

01:38:59.420 --> 01:39:01.580
But then the Apostle Paul called all of them out.

01:39:01.580 --> 01:39:05.180
Oh, well, I don't think you should ever call anybody out.

01:39:05.180 --> 01:39:07.580
Well, then don't read the Bible because it calls everybody out.

01:39:07.580 --> 01:39:10.300
Go to Revelation 3.

01:39:10.300 --> 01:39:12.380
How about 2 John where he calls out,

01:39:12.380 --> 01:39:15.940
Deotrophes who loveth thou the preeminence and was

01:39:15.940 --> 01:39:18.420
parading against them with malicious words.

01:39:18.420 --> 01:39:20.700
Neither doth he receive the brethren.

01:39:20.700 --> 01:39:26.700
You know, hey, guys that are rejecting God's people and getting rid of people and calling

01:39:26.700 --> 01:39:28.620
them weasels and low character and whatever.

01:39:28.620 --> 01:39:31.380
Hey, well, this guy, you know, this guy's a bad guy.

01:39:31.380 --> 01:39:32.580
Sorry.

01:39:32.580 --> 01:39:34.660
He gets called out.

01:39:34.660 --> 01:39:38.100
In chapter three, verse number 14.

01:39:38.100 --> 01:39:41.620
And under the angel, the church of the Laodiceans write, these things say of the Amen, the faithful

01:39:41.620 --> 01:39:43.580
and the true witness, the beginning of the creation of God.

01:39:43.580 --> 01:39:46.820
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot.

01:39:46.820 --> 01:39:47.820
He should be red hot.

01:39:47.820 --> 01:39:48.820
He shouldn't be this way.

01:39:48.820 --> 01:39:50.900
I would that thou were cold or red hot.

01:39:50.900 --> 01:39:51.900
You know what I mean?

01:39:51.900 --> 01:39:53.020
I added the word red.

01:39:53.020 --> 01:39:58.500
So then because thou art lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth,

01:39:58.500 --> 01:40:04.060
because thou sayest I am rich and increased with goods and of need of nothing.

01:40:04.060 --> 01:40:07.420
And knowest not that thou are wretched, miserable, poor and blind and naked.

01:40:07.420 --> 01:40:11.980
I counsel thee to buy of me gold, triad and the fire that thou mayest be rich.

01:40:11.980 --> 01:40:12.980
What is he saying?

01:40:12.980 --> 01:40:16.260
This is another church that's not really soul winning again, because he's trying to get

01:40:16.260 --> 01:40:18.780
them to buy gold, triad and the fire.

01:40:18.780 --> 01:40:20.780
That's getting people saved, folks.

01:40:20.780 --> 01:40:23.540
And he says that they're actually poor even though they think they're rich.

01:40:23.540 --> 01:40:24.540
Why?

01:40:24.540 --> 01:40:25.740
Because they think that money is riches.

01:40:25.740 --> 01:40:27.520
They think that a building is riches.

01:40:27.520 --> 01:40:29.820
They think that having a big bank account is riches.

01:40:29.820 --> 01:40:31.000
Whereas he says, you know what?

01:40:31.000 --> 01:40:33.340
You're poor and you're miserable and you're naked.

01:40:33.340 --> 01:40:34.340
You have nothing!

01:40:34.340 --> 01:40:35.340
You're meaningless!

01:40:35.340 --> 01:40:36.340
You're worthless!

01:40:36.340 --> 01:40:38.300
Think about a tree.

01:40:38.300 --> 01:40:39.300
There's no fruit.

01:40:39.300 --> 01:40:42.860
He's your poor, you're blind, you're miserable, you're naked.

01:40:42.860 --> 01:40:46.700
But the trees are sitting here like, oh, but I'm green.

01:40:46.700 --> 01:40:48.140
Look at all the money I have.

01:40:48.140 --> 01:40:49.140
Well, you know what?

01:40:49.140 --> 01:40:52.460
Who cares about all the green on the tree when you have no fruit?

01:40:52.460 --> 01:40:58.340
In the same way, who cares about all the green a church has when it has no fruit?

01:40:58.340 --> 01:40:59.980
It's poor, miserable, blind and naked.

01:40:59.980 --> 01:41:02.100
He's like, I wish that you were just red hot.

01:41:02.100 --> 01:41:03.600
You know?

01:41:03.600 --> 01:41:04.900
Not lukewarm.

01:41:04.900 --> 01:41:07.320
Lukewarm is lame.

01:41:07.320 --> 01:41:12.780
And so, you know, I basically just want to just explain a few more things.

01:41:12.780 --> 01:41:15.600
Let's recap the chapter for a moment, OK?

01:41:15.600 --> 01:41:17.820
We don't want to be afraid when we go out to the battle.

01:41:17.820 --> 01:41:20.260
We want to be willing to die.

01:41:20.260 --> 01:41:24.740
And when we go out to the battle, we have to make sure that we count the cost.

01:41:24.740 --> 01:41:26.740
The leaders themselves have to have a killer instinct.

01:41:26.740 --> 01:41:30.860
And, you know, I wish that more pastors would have a killer instinct.

01:41:31.540 --> 01:41:37.020
There's one thing to be a teacher, to teach the Bible and preach the Bible good.

01:41:37.020 --> 01:41:41.460
But to be a true leader, you have to have a killer instinct.

01:41:41.460 --> 01:41:44.460
You have to have moments where you just say, you know, my eye is not going to pity.

01:41:44.460 --> 01:41:46.940
Like I'm just going to say no.

01:41:46.940 --> 01:41:48.260
You have to be able to say no.

01:41:48.260 --> 01:41:49.260
And you know what?

01:41:49.260 --> 01:41:52.580
You have to be able to say no to your kids.

01:41:52.580 --> 01:41:55.380
You have to be able to say no to your wife.

01:41:55.380 --> 01:41:57.820
You have to be able to say no to yourself.

01:41:57.820 --> 01:42:00.740
You have to be able to say no to church members.

01:42:00.740 --> 01:42:03.540
You have to basically just tell everybody that they're wrong.

01:42:03.540 --> 01:42:05.140
You have to sometimes stand alone.

01:42:05.140 --> 01:42:09.340
You have to sometimes just endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

01:42:09.340 --> 01:42:11.420
You have to not be afraid of their faces.

01:42:11.420 --> 01:42:13.420
You have to make unpopular decisions.

01:42:13.420 --> 01:42:17.460
You have to have times where everyone's going to question you or think, hey, I don't know.

01:42:17.460 --> 01:42:18.260
I don't like this.

01:42:18.260 --> 01:42:19.460
You have to lead.

01:42:19.460 --> 01:42:21.740
You have to go where others will not go.

01:42:21.740 --> 01:42:24.380
You have to say what others will not say.

01:42:24.380 --> 01:42:26.700
You have to do what others will not do.

01:42:26.700 --> 01:42:28.700
That's what a leader is.

01:42:28.740 --> 01:42:31.140
And we need more leaders in our country.

01:42:31.140 --> 01:42:33.620
We need more leaders in the home.

01:42:33.620 --> 01:42:39.300
We need more men in the home that are leaders, that have the killer instinct, that say, hey,

01:42:39.300 --> 01:42:43.900
if someone broke into my house, I will kill them and lay down my life for my family.

01:42:43.900 --> 01:42:47.980
And spiritually, they have the same attitude, that anything that's stopping and attacking

01:42:47.980 --> 01:42:51.420
their family spiritually, hey, I'm going to bat, and I'm going to fight that, and I'm

01:42:51.420 --> 01:42:52.740
going to take that to task.

01:42:52.740 --> 01:42:55.060
And I don't care if I'm the popular husband.

01:42:55.100 --> 01:42:59.380
I'm going to be the husband that's going to lay down his life for his family.

01:42:59.380 --> 01:43:03.180
Sometimes that means saying no.

01:43:03.180 --> 01:43:03.620
Pretty easy.

01:43:03.620 --> 01:43:05.420
I mean, when you're a kid, you said it all the time.

01:43:05.420 --> 01:43:07.420
Just keep saying it, all right?

01:43:07.420 --> 01:43:08.220
No, mine.

01:43:11.620 --> 01:43:14.300
And at the end of the day, we need to make sure that when we go to warfare that, hey,

01:43:14.300 --> 01:43:17.740
we seek peace, but we're ready to slaughter.

01:43:17.740 --> 01:43:19.260
We're ready to slaughter.

01:43:19.260 --> 01:43:22.540
But we want to make sure that when we slaughter, we have the right vision.

01:43:22.540 --> 01:43:24.900
Hey, if it's a non-fruit bearing tree, slaughter it.

01:43:24.900 --> 01:43:25.660
But it's got fruit.

01:43:25.660 --> 01:43:27.620
Hey, we don't want to slaughter this thing.

01:43:27.620 --> 01:43:31.380
But I also don't want to get so weak and lame that it's like, oh, well, we would never

01:43:31.380 --> 01:43:33.220
call anybody out, though.

01:43:33.220 --> 01:43:36.300
We would never expose anybody for anything.

01:43:36.300 --> 01:43:39.420
We would never point out these problems.

01:43:39.420 --> 01:43:46.420
Look, if the trees are being destroyed by someone in the camp, and you don't call it

01:43:46.420 --> 01:43:49.580
out, then you hate the work of the Lord.

01:43:49.620 --> 01:43:55.500
We want to make sure that the fruit is in good place, that the fruit is at its maximum,

01:43:55.500 --> 01:43:58.820
that we're taking care of it.

01:43:58.820 --> 01:44:05.500
You know, it's just so frustrating to me how people are just so afraid to basically

01:44:05.500 --> 01:44:07.260
just go all in on soul winning.

01:44:07.260 --> 01:44:09.780
That's why we're here.

01:44:09.780 --> 01:44:13.140
You know, billions of people are going to go to hell, whether we go out there and preach

01:44:13.140 --> 01:44:14.900
the gospel or not.

01:44:14.900 --> 01:44:18.820
But if we go out there, we can make a difference.

01:44:18.860 --> 01:44:19.860
I'm not a Calvinist.

01:44:19.860 --> 01:44:23.580
I think that we make a real difference and that we are really the person standing in

01:44:23.580 --> 01:44:24.580
the gap.

01:44:24.580 --> 01:44:26.300
Churches have a false gospel.

01:44:26.300 --> 01:44:27.940
We need to destroy them.

01:44:27.940 --> 01:44:30.340
Churches with a bad leader, they need to be called out.

01:44:30.340 --> 01:44:33.060
Churches not going soul winning need to be called out.

01:44:33.060 --> 01:44:35.860
Churches abandoning their missionaries need to be called out.

01:44:35.860 --> 01:44:40.340
Hey, churches that are peaceable unto us, let's be peaceable unto them.

01:44:40.340 --> 01:44:44.620
Churches like Stacey Shifflett attacking soul winning need to be called out.

01:44:44.620 --> 01:44:46.380
That guy needs to be called out.

01:44:46.780 --> 01:44:53.860
He wrote this post saying, oh, we should be against the churches that teach quick prayerism.

01:44:53.860 --> 01:44:58.180
As opposed to long prayerism.

01:44:58.180 --> 01:45:01.540
Like, is he advocating like you can't get saved in a shorter prayer?

01:45:01.540 --> 01:45:05.580
You need to pray really long prayer to get saved.

01:45:05.580 --> 01:45:07.460
I mean, think about what's the opposite.

01:45:07.460 --> 01:45:08.740
Long prayerism.

01:45:08.740 --> 01:45:11.900
I mean, show me the long prayer in the Bible.

01:45:11.900 --> 01:45:16.100
I'll show you the guys that get saved in basically a moment's breath.

01:45:16.100 --> 01:45:18.300
Lord, be merciful when I come in thy kingdom.

01:45:18.300 --> 01:45:20.100
Lord, remember when I come in thy kingdom.

01:45:20.100 --> 01:45:22.340
God, be merciful me a sinner.

01:45:22.340 --> 01:45:24.620
Give me this living water.

01:45:24.620 --> 01:45:27.180
I mean, it's just like what about the Lord's Prayer?

01:45:27.180 --> 01:45:27.860
What does that take?

01:45:27.860 --> 01:45:29.460
Ten seconds? Ask a Catholic.

01:45:29.460 --> 01:45:30.860
He'll tell you.

01:45:32.500 --> 01:45:36.420
And then then then they'll be like, oh, I'm not saying that when you pray, it has to be long to get saved.

01:45:36.420 --> 01:45:38.940
And you're like, OK, then what are you saying?

01:45:39.660 --> 01:45:44.900
Well, I just think that, you know, you just go out and show people the gospel and you think they can just get saved right on the spot.

01:45:44.900 --> 01:45:46.740
You mean like the woman at the well?

01:45:46.740 --> 01:45:47.700
Yeah.

01:45:47.700 --> 01:45:49.700
I mean, didn't she get saved that day?

01:45:51.100 --> 01:45:52.780
So how long is it?

01:45:52.780 --> 01:45:56.260
I mean, it's basically like they go to get lunch, come back and she's already saved.

01:45:56.260 --> 01:45:58.340
How long was that?

01:45:58.340 --> 01:46:00.700
Not only not only that, how about the Philippian jailer?

01:46:00.700 --> 01:46:03.620
Guy gets saved in the night.

01:46:03.620 --> 01:46:04.980
How about the thief on the cross?

01:46:04.980 --> 01:46:06.980
Got saved, wasn't there for very long.

01:46:06.980 --> 01:46:10.380
I mean, Jesus on the cross for only six hours, Max.

01:46:10.380 --> 01:46:13.140
How long do you think that was?

01:46:13.140 --> 01:46:17.100
How about three thousand people getting saved in one day in the book of Acts?

01:46:17.100 --> 01:46:20.020
How does that happen if it takes a long time?

01:46:20.020 --> 01:46:24.180
It seems like people are getting saved the same day someone tries.

01:46:24.180 --> 01:46:27.020
I mean, you got the eunuch on the way.

01:46:27.020 --> 01:46:31.260
He just jumps in the chariot, saved, and then he's just gone.

01:46:31.260 --> 01:46:32.660
He's gone, gone.

01:46:32.660 --> 01:46:34.700
Like he really got whisked away.

01:46:34.700 --> 01:46:35.780
The cops came and picked him up or something.

01:46:35.780 --> 01:46:37.420
I don't know.

01:46:37.420 --> 01:46:40.420
I mean, this guy got saved so fast.

01:46:40.500 --> 01:46:45.820
Look, it's insane to think that it takes a long time to get someone saved because if

01:46:45.820 --> 01:46:49.580
that's true, then no one's saved.

01:46:49.580 --> 01:46:52.380
I didn't it didn't take me a long time to get saved.

01:46:52.380 --> 01:46:56.940
I didn't have to sit here and have someone just read the entire Bible to me.

01:46:56.940 --> 01:47:00.060
I didn't it doesn't take years and years or whatever.

01:47:00.060 --> 01:47:01.460
Oh, well, they have to repent of their sins.

01:47:01.460 --> 01:47:03.460
They'd be willing to repent of their sins.

01:47:03.460 --> 01:47:05.140
You just don't understand repent.

01:47:05.140 --> 01:47:09.940
Well, OK, what sin did the woman at the well repent of?

01:47:09.940 --> 01:47:13.420
Did she say, OK, fine, I'm not going to live with this guy anymore?

01:47:13.420 --> 01:47:15.980
For all I know, she went back to him.

01:47:15.980 --> 01:47:19.020
I mean, there's nothing in the story that indicates that she didn't go back to the guy

01:47:19.020 --> 01:47:23.180
she called husband, even though she wasn't her husband, and drop him like a bad habit

01:47:23.180 --> 01:47:25.460
to get another one.

01:47:25.460 --> 01:47:26.580
There's nothing in the story.

01:47:26.580 --> 01:47:29.820
I mean, the Philippian jailer, what did he repent of?

01:47:29.820 --> 01:47:34.580
He puts them back in jail.

01:47:34.580 --> 01:47:36.220
What did he do?

01:47:36.220 --> 01:47:38.620
I mean, you have name in the Syrian.

01:47:38.660 --> 01:47:43.060
As soon as he gets saved, he says, oh, by the way, I'm going to go back home and still

01:47:43.060 --> 01:47:44.060
be in false religion.

01:47:44.060 --> 01:47:45.060
Is that OK?

01:47:47.980 --> 01:47:49.540
What what did he repent of?

01:47:50.900 --> 01:47:53.660
I mean, what are these people repenting of?

01:47:53.660 --> 01:47:56.940
We don't see any example of people repenting of their sins to get saved.

01:47:56.940 --> 01:47:58.340
Now, I'm not saying no one did.

01:47:58.340 --> 01:48:00.020
I'm not saying some people didn't get right.

01:48:00.020 --> 01:48:04.980
I'm not saying that some genuine conversions don't also couple someone turning their life

01:48:04.980 --> 01:48:06.460
over and making a big change.

01:48:06.460 --> 01:48:07.740
I hope that they do.

01:48:07.780 --> 01:48:08.900
But let me tell you something.

01:48:08.900 --> 01:48:14.180
Salvation is a free gift by faith and soul winning is the only way someone gets saved.

01:48:14.180 --> 01:48:15.580
And it's always going to be quick.

01:48:15.580 --> 01:48:17.220
And it's always going to be a quick prayer.

01:48:17.220 --> 01:48:20.140
I don't believe anybody that prayed a long prayer got saved.

01:48:21.180 --> 01:48:25.740
If someone had to pray a 30 or 45 minute prayer to get saved, they probably didn't have the

01:48:25.740 --> 01:48:30.380
right gospel because they thought they had to repent of every single one of their sins.

01:48:30.380 --> 01:48:33.060
So like when I was seven, I stole a toothbrush.

01:48:33.060 --> 01:48:35.540
And when I was eight, I hit my brother in the face.

01:48:35.540 --> 01:48:37.380
And when I was nine, I did this.

01:48:37.380 --> 01:48:39.500
And please forgive me of all my sins.

01:48:39.500 --> 01:48:43.020
It's like that you didn't get saved because it wasn't repenting of your sins.

01:48:43.020 --> 01:48:44.060
It was believing in Jesus.

01:48:44.060 --> 01:48:45.060
It saved you anyways.

01:48:46.220 --> 01:48:48.420
How long does that take like that?

01:48:49.500 --> 01:48:50.900
Stacey Shipplett's a liar.

01:48:52.340 --> 01:48:55.020
And you know what? He's trying to cut down the real fruit trees.

01:48:56.380 --> 01:49:00.860
He's wicked. And, you know, we shouldn't we shouldn't be afraid to call those kind of

01:49:00.860 --> 01:49:05.180
people out. Someone that's within range, someone that's attacking soul winning.

01:49:05.420 --> 01:49:07.340
This guy is cutting down the fruit trees.

01:49:07.340 --> 01:49:12.020
You know, we should go after them hard because that is not going to win us the battle.

01:49:13.340 --> 01:49:15.940
And, you know, again, we shouldn't cut down the fruit trees.

01:49:15.940 --> 01:49:17.460
We shouldn't want to destroy fruit trees.

01:49:17.460 --> 01:49:23.300
And there's churches that are soul winning that, you know, attack me or say evil things

01:49:23.300 --> 01:49:26.420
or do stupid things. You know, my prayer is always like, well, God, I pray that you would

01:49:26.420 --> 01:49:30.700
still just, you know, help them to get right or, you know, do whatever is necessary to

01:49:30.700 --> 01:49:33.260
get them on the right, you know, pace again or whatever.

01:49:33.580 --> 01:49:35.100
But I'm telling you, these guys preach a false gospel.

01:49:35.100 --> 01:49:36.860
I'm like, God, just destroy it right now.

01:49:37.180 --> 01:49:38.580
Burn it to the ground.

01:49:38.900 --> 01:49:40.540
Get rid of them. Wipe them out.

01:49:40.660 --> 01:49:41.740
It's a different kind of prayer.

01:49:42.420 --> 01:49:45.340
There's a prayer that you're calling to repentance and there's a prayer to destruction.

01:49:46.100 --> 01:49:47.060
And let me tell you something.

01:49:47.340 --> 01:49:50.900
I'm praying for destruction for people like Stacey Shipplett, their churches.

01:49:51.580 --> 01:49:54.940
You know, other churches that are just frenemies, you know, it's like, hey, I hope they

01:49:54.940 --> 01:49:57.460
just get right. I hope that the Lord can turn them around.

01:49:58.060 --> 01:49:59.020
I'll still call them out.

01:49:59.620 --> 01:50:00.940
Well, hey, you need to get this right.

01:50:01.660 --> 01:50:04.580
But at the end of the day, like, hey, you know, it's all about the fruit.

01:50:05.460 --> 01:50:06.300
That's what we should be about.

01:50:06.820 --> 01:50:09.580
Should be about the fruit, because without the fruit, it's meaningless anyways.

01:50:10.380 --> 01:50:11.580
We're not going to really last.

01:50:12.020 --> 01:50:13.220
We got to fight the Lord's battles.

01:50:13.220 --> 01:50:14.500
You know, we shouldn't be afraid of death.

01:50:14.500 --> 01:50:15.940
We shouldn't be afraid of these things.

01:50:16.380 --> 01:50:18.020
We need some men that are just not afraid.

01:50:19.260 --> 01:50:20.900
You want to be part of Stavis Baptist Church?

01:50:21.580 --> 01:50:22.540
Stop being afraid.

01:50:24.220 --> 01:50:27.300
Skid all in to the things of God and become a disciple.

01:50:28.260 --> 01:50:28.820
Let's go to prayer.

01:50:29.100 --> 01:50:31.900
Thank you, Heavenly Father, so much for the example that you've given us through your

01:50:31.900 --> 01:50:33.660
son, through his sacrifice.

01:50:34.140 --> 01:50:37.820
Thank you for your willingness to sacrifice your son for us, the love that you have for

01:50:37.820 --> 01:50:43.380
us. I pray that we would have a deep appreciation for the things that you've done

01:50:43.380 --> 01:50:47.620
for us and the example that you set, that we too would count the cost that we too could

01:50:47.620 --> 01:50:49.620
be willing to lay down our lives to be disciple.

01:50:50.460 --> 01:50:54.220
I pray that you would help us to get an earnest zeal for the lost, for those that are

01:50:54.220 --> 01:50:58.780
dying, for those that are perishing, that we would want them to be saved, that we would

01:50:59.180 --> 01:51:02.900
be willing to lay down whatever is getting in the way of us getting them saved.

01:51:03.300 --> 01:51:05.940
I pray that we wouldn't be faint hearted, that we're willing to call people out, that

01:51:05.940 --> 01:51:09.700
we're willing to chop down the non-fruit bearing trees, that we're willing to go to

01:51:09.700 --> 01:51:13.180
the battle. And we know that you would always give us the victory because we're on your

01:51:13.180 --> 01:51:14.580
side. Jesus, let me pray.

01:51:14.660 --> 01:51:15.020
Amen.

01:51:19.020 --> 01:51:22.700
All right, for our last song, let's go to song number 244.

01:51:29.460 --> 01:51:32.620
Song number 244,

01:51:34.300 --> 01:51:38.900
Amazing Grace, song 244.

01:51:39.420 --> 01:51:40.700
Let's all sing that out together.

01:51:58.820 --> 01:52:05.700
Once was lost, but now am found.

01:52:06.020 --> 01:52:13.020
Was blind, but now I see.

01:52:13.660 --> 01:52:21.420
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

01:52:21.660 --> 01:52:29.020
And grace my fears be he.

01:52:29.420 --> 01:52:37.020
How precious did that grace appear,

01:52:37.340 --> 01:52:44.620
The hour I first believed.

01:52:44.940 --> 01:52:52.540
Through many dangers, foils, and spares,

01:52:52.860 --> 01:52:59.820
I have already come.

01:53:00.460 --> 01:53:07.820
Tis grace that taught me, save the score,

01:53:08.300 --> 01:53:15.420
And grace will be me own.

01:53:15.900 --> 01:53:23.260
When within years and thousand years,

01:53:23.660 --> 01:53:30.780
Christ shining at the sun,

01:53:31.180 --> 01:53:38.860
We've no less days to sing our praise,

01:53:39.100 --> 01:53:45.980
Than when we first begun.

01:53:45.980 --> 01:53:48.700
Great singing, everybody. You were all dismissed.
