WEBVTT

00:30.000 --> 00:44.280
All right.

00:44.280 --> 00:49.280
On the 1st, 169.

00:49.280 --> 00:58.280
Come out.

00:58.280 --> 01:03.280
My heart to sing my grave.

01:03.280 --> 01:07.280
Streams of mercy never seen.

01:07.280 --> 01:11.280
Call for songs of loudest praise.

01:11.280 --> 01:16.280
Teach me.

01:16.280 --> 01:20.280
Song by claiming tongues above.

01:20.280 --> 01:26.280
Praise the mountain, fix the fog.

01:26.280 --> 01:29.280
Meet me, meet love.

01:29.280 --> 01:34.280
Here I raise my Ebenezer.

01:34.280 --> 01:37.280
By thy help I'm covered.

01:37.280 --> 01:41.280
And I know by thy good pleasure.

01:41.280 --> 01:45.280
Safely I'll arrive at home.

01:45.280 --> 01:49.280
Jesus taught me when a stranger

01:49.280 --> 01:53.280
Wondering how to be a good friend to God.

01:53.280 --> 01:57.280
He to rescue me from danger.

01:57.280 --> 02:01.280
He took host in his precious love.

02:01.280 --> 02:05.280
Oh to grace how great a death.

02:05.280 --> 02:09.280
O daily guide the strength to be.

02:09.280 --> 02:13.280
Let thy goodness like a feather.

02:13.280 --> 02:17.280
Find my wandering heart to thee.

02:17.280 --> 02:21.280
Throw to us the murder, Lord I feel it.

02:21.280 --> 02:25.280
Throw to me the God I love.

02:25.280 --> 02:29.280
Here's my heart, O take it to seal it.

02:29.280 --> 02:33.280
And may it be your home in thy courts above.

02:33.280 --> 02:36.280
All right.

02:36.280 --> 02:39.280
All right. Welcome to Spring Crest.

02:39.280 --> 02:45.280
Today is March 29th. Our services are right there on the left. Sunday morning, 1030. Sunday evening, 430.

02:45.280 --> 02:48.280
And Wednesday's service is 530 p.m.

02:48.280 --> 02:52.280
Our sole waiting time is 2 p.m.

02:52.280 --> 02:57.280
on Sundays. And then the chapter of the birth of the week is Philippians 121.

02:57.280 --> 03:00.280
For it to me to live is Christ, and to die is gained.

03:00.280 --> 03:03.280
Currently we're at 262 souls, one for the year.

03:03.280 --> 03:06.280
But we're going to tally up. I think I got two.

03:06.280 --> 03:09.280
I'm sure you got one, right?

03:09.280 --> 03:15.280
That's three. One over there. Four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

03:15.280 --> 03:20.280
Wow. That's great. So we got ten more for the week.

03:20.280 --> 03:24.280
We got ten out. So that was a good receptive place.

03:24.280 --> 03:28.280
And that there was a lot of Spanish speakers, but there was still a good mix.

03:28.280 --> 03:31.280
You guys ran into you still spoke English to a lot of people, right?

03:31.280 --> 03:34.280
Yeah, so.

03:34.280 --> 03:37.280
By the way, it's good memories for my wife and I, you guys all get excited.

03:37.280 --> 03:40.280
That's where Giselle and Renee used to live, Pastor Cop.

03:40.280 --> 03:43.280
We were so waiting at their old apartment complex.

03:43.280 --> 03:45.280
Where Giselle and Renee used to live.

03:45.280 --> 03:48.280
And then we got birthdays and anniversaries coming up.

03:48.280 --> 03:52.280
And then we've got the big soul winning mega marathon.

03:52.280 --> 03:56.280
So I encourage everybody to come out. We'll have plenty of everything.

03:56.280 --> 04:00.280
The biggest the biggest thing, you know, when encourage new soul winners.

04:00.280 --> 04:05.280
So, you know, we had a lot of visitors, if any of them, if you got in touch with anyone, let's get them out there.

04:05.280 --> 04:10.280
But regardless, we're showing up. We're going to go do the work. Whoever comes out.

04:10.280 --> 04:16.280
And what we're going to do is we're probably going to soul win near the University of Houston.

04:16.280 --> 04:19.280
And that way we can actually scout out. We're going to kill two birds with one stone.

04:19.280 --> 04:26.280
And scout out for the April 18th soul winning marathon that we're having at the University of Houston.

04:26.280 --> 04:30.280
If nothing else, let's pray for the expecting mothers.

04:30.280 --> 04:34.280
Haley Malutich, Christian Rogers, Marcel Wycliffe.

04:34.280 --> 04:40.280
Also pray for brother Matt. He went to the dentist and said his tooth was fine.

04:40.280 --> 04:44.280
And now he's like he's in pain. Just pray for him.

04:44.280 --> 04:51.280
Pray for him. Sometimes dentists make things work. Just pray that he can get that result sooner than later.

04:51.280 --> 04:59.280
In the back, I went ahead and updated all the prayer requests and then just the housekeeping rules.

04:59.280 --> 05:05.280
I think we've gone through that pretty thoroughly. I appreciate everybody being here.

05:05.280 --> 05:09.280
I appreciate all the soul winners. And, you know, I appreciate everybody.

05:09.280 --> 05:13.280
That's cool that everybody would kind of bring some food, hang out a little bit before we go.

05:13.280 --> 05:16.280
I mean, if it's possible, right, every time it's different.

05:16.280 --> 05:24.280
But thank you guys for that. And before the week's over, once again, it was fun last weekend.

05:24.280 --> 05:30.280
And we are going to have more activities like that. I think the next one, I don't know if I'll have anything set up before that.

05:30.280 --> 05:34.280
But for sure, Pastor Shelley will be preaching for us in the summer.

05:34.280 --> 05:37.280
And then we have the anti-Israel conference coming up.

05:37.280 --> 05:42.280
So just plan on those two things as we go about our business.

05:42.280 --> 05:47.280
But let's turn our hymn of the order to page 147 and then we will be in Leviticus 17.

05:47.280 --> 05:53.280
147, leaning on the everlasting arm. 147.

06:04.280 --> 06:13.280
What a fellowship, what a joy divine. Leaning on the everlasting arm.

06:13.280 --> 06:22.280
What a blessedness, what a peace of mind. Leaning on the everlasting arm.

06:22.280 --> 06:40.280
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms. Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arm.

06:40.280 --> 06:49.280
Oh, how sweet to walk in this field of quick leaning on the everlasting arm.

06:49.280 --> 06:58.280
Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day on the everlasting arm.

06:58.280 --> 07:15.280
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms. Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arm.

07:15.280 --> 07:24.280
What have I to dread? What have I to fear? Leaning on the everlasting arm.

07:24.280 --> 07:32.280
I have blessed peace with my Lord to me. Leaning on the everlasting arm.

07:32.280 --> 07:41.280
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms.

07:41.280 --> 07:51.280
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arm.

07:51.280 --> 07:59.280
Alright, we'll have brother Jerry read for us Leviticus 17.

07:59.280 --> 08:03.280
Leviticus 17.

08:15.280 --> 08:26.280
Leviticus 17. Open your Bibles to Leviticus 17.

08:26.280 --> 08:37.280
And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, saying,

08:37.280 --> 08:50.280
What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp, and bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

08:50.280 --> 09:02.280
to offer an offering unto the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord, blood shall be imputed unto that man. He hath shed blood, and that man shall be cut off from among his people.

09:02.280 --> 09:13.280
To the end, the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the Lord, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

09:13.280 --> 09:27.280
unto the priest, and offer them for a peace offering unto the Lord. And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the Lord, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savor unto the Lord.

09:27.280 --> 09:38.280
And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a-whoring. This shall be a statue forever unto them throughout their generations.

09:38.280 --> 09:57.280
And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which shall adjourn among you, that offer a burnt offering, or sacrifice, and bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord, even that man shall be cut off from among his people.

09:57.280 --> 10:13.280
And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which shall adjourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood, I will even set my face against that soul, that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

10:13.280 --> 10:23.280
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar, to make an atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

10:23.280 --> 10:32.280
Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.

10:32.280 --> 10:46.280
And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten, he shall even pour out the blood thereof and cover it with dust.

10:46.280 --> 10:51.280
For it is the life of all flesh, the blood of it is for the life thereof.

10:51.280 --> 11:01.280
Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no man or of flesh, for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof.

11:01.280 --> 11:19.280
Whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening.

11:19.280 --> 11:27.280
Then shall he be clean. But if he washeth them not, nor bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.

11:27.280 --> 11:36.280
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you for the souls that were saved today and we just pray that you continue to bless here at Spring Crest Baptist Church.

11:36.280 --> 11:48.280
Be with Pastor as he brings this message, Lord, give us ears to understand, and we pray that we can take what we learned into the world with us, Lord. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

11:57.280 --> 12:07.280
Before we do that, I just want to say, if Leviticus, you guys can hear me, but nobody can hear me on the live stream.

12:07.280 --> 12:12.280
That's just so we want to test the viewer.

12:12.280 --> 12:23.280
But what I wanted to say was we're there in Leviticus, but we are going to be covering that in between those two chapters in between the first part of Leviticus.

12:23.280 --> 12:35.280
We covered that last last time. It's a few weeks ago. I think it was like something like 11 through 15, where it seems like it's talking more about your personal sense.

12:35.280 --> 12:43.280
It's dealing with that. And then we have the Day of Atonement and the rules that come with that. Verse 17 just kind of continues building on that.

12:43.280 --> 12:56.280
And then the rest of Leviticus is more of dealing with the congregational stuff and some of the famous verses that we love to quote in the Bible, like Leviticus 2013 and even in Leviticus 18.

12:56.280 --> 13:06.280
You know, come as a after we read some of this. But the title of my sermon this afternoon is No Blood, No Atonement.

13:06.280 --> 13:13.280
And I thought it was appropriate. I know it's Palm Sunday, but next week is the the resurrection. Right.

13:13.280 --> 13:19.280
And we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate the death burial of Jesus Christ.

13:19.280 --> 13:31.280
But one of the things we also celebrate is the blood. Right. And a lot of modern churches, you know, especially Calvinist, John MacArthur being one of them, always downplayed the importance of the blood.

13:31.280 --> 13:37.280
But I guess they just didn't read the Old Testament. If we go here, we see that there's a lot going on. Right.

13:37.280 --> 13:48.280
It says there in verse three, because I don't want to forget to come back to this, but there in verse three says, What man soever there be of the house of Israel that killeth an ox,

13:48.280 --> 14:03.280
or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or that killeth it out of out of the camp, and bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation to offer an offering unto the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord,

14:03.280 --> 14:11.280
blood shall be imputed unto that man, he hath shed blood, and that man shall be cut off from among his people.

14:11.280 --> 14:20.280
God is not messing around when it comes to the things of God. You know, here, obviously the tabernacle is where God lives.

14:20.280 --> 14:27.280
What is modern day, the modern day tabernacle is we are the temple of God, and the congregation is the temple of God.

14:27.280 --> 14:37.280
So the things that are offered unto idols in the New Testament, the spiritual application is when we come, church is not a place for us to just kind of hang out.

14:38.280 --> 14:47.280
It's not like the social club or the things that, you know, it's like the place where we come to be serious about the things of the Lord, right?

14:47.280 --> 14:53.280
We come to do the work of the Lord. We come to worship the Lord. Look, there's no other place where that is required.

14:53.280 --> 15:00.280
You know, at your home, you can do whatever you need to at work. I mean, I'm pretty sure they have rules, but you show up to do the work.

15:01.280 --> 15:09.280
But God, he says here, hey, if you even sacrifice incorrectly, you're cut off. Now for us, what does that look like?

15:09.280 --> 15:20.280
Well, we reject the Lord Jesus Christ, we're cut off. But if you're saved and you reject the things of the New Testament church that's actually preaching the Bible, you should be cut off.

15:20.280 --> 15:24.280
Now we've already touched on that. I'll continue that series on 1 Corinthians 5.

15:24.280 --> 15:31.280
And you know, the things that need to be that churches can kick people out of. I mean, the reasons people get kicked out of church.

15:31.280 --> 15:36.280
But, you know, it's derived from the fact that God established this from the very beginning.

15:36.280 --> 15:40.280
Right. And a lot of times you've heard me say this term like we don't play church.

15:40.280 --> 15:45.280
But maybe I'm not emphatic enough. Like the reason we don't play church is because God doesn't play around.

15:45.280 --> 15:53.280
Right. God is serious about the things that he set up. As a matter of fact, verse seven, it says, and they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto the Lord.

15:53.280 --> 16:00.280
They shall no more offer their sacrifices unto the devil, devils after whom they have gone a-whoring.

16:00.280 --> 16:04.280
This shall be a statute forever unto them throughout their generations.

16:04.280 --> 16:13.280
And thou shalt say unto them, What's over a man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers, which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,

16:13.280 --> 16:21.280
and bringeth not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord, even that man shall be cut off from amongst people.

16:21.280 --> 16:27.280
So what's going on here? Right. They're going through the wilderness and what they're doing is they're taking matters into their own hands.

16:27.280 --> 16:33.280
It's kind of like what we saw this morning with King Uzziah. You know, he decided I'm going to be the priest. I'm going to be the one to offer.

16:33.280 --> 16:39.280
People were sacrificing, but they were sacrificing to false gods and they were doing whatever they wanted.

16:39.280 --> 16:43.280
And you know, if you've ever studied any history, you know that that's a very common thing.

16:43.280 --> 16:50.280
Today, even today in modern 2026 world, there's countries, you can go to Africa.

16:50.280 --> 16:57.280
I remember we were just at those apartment complexes and there was a couple here that was from Cuba and Haiti.

16:57.280 --> 17:01.280
And I remember talking to the guy from Haiti and Haiti is just a cult, right?

17:01.280 --> 17:05.280
They sacrifice unto animals and they do voodoo and all that stuff. It's the same thing here.

17:05.280 --> 17:14.280
It's the same thing here. God says, Hey, if you're sacrificing and it's a spiritual sacrifice, it better be unto me or else you're cut off.

17:14.280 --> 17:16.280
You're out. Right. We I don't want to deal with that.

17:16.280 --> 17:23.280
The verse I want to focus on right there is also I don't know if I gave you the title of sermon, but it's no blood, no atonement, no blood, no atonement.

17:23.280 --> 17:27.280
And verse 11 deals with that says there for the life of the flesh is in the blood.

17:27.280 --> 17:38.280
And I've given it upon you. I've given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

17:38.280 --> 17:43.280
Hey, Jesus isn't just the saving grace. It's also the blood of Jesus.

17:43.280 --> 17:47.280
It's all of Jesus that atones for the soul. Right.

17:47.280 --> 17:55.280
And then this made me think as as we were out soul wedding, we ran into a dad and a son who were Catholics.

17:55.280 --> 18:02.280
And I guess the son's going to like Catholic school and he was kind of piped up and he thought he was going to get me in a gotcha moment.

18:02.280 --> 18:04.280
Right. And I'm preaching the gospel.

18:04.280 --> 18:09.280
He's like, well, you know, you don't even preach the right Bible because you guys have taken stuff away from the Bible.

18:09.280 --> 18:14.280
You know, my Catholic people and I was like, oh, yeah, you know, like the Book of Maccabees and the Apocryphal.

18:14.280 --> 18:17.280
Yeah. Yeah. I was like, yeah, you know, that's that's wrong.

18:17.280 --> 18:23.280
It's not scripture. It even says there in the actual print that this is not scripture.

18:23.280 --> 18:25.280
I said there's no social media at the time.

18:25.280 --> 18:28.280
There's no way to get news and world history.

18:28.280 --> 18:34.280
So they added this as an add on to basically, you know, bring you up to speed as to what's going on in the world.

18:34.280 --> 18:37.280
But it literally says not inspired and not scripture.

18:37.280 --> 18:43.280
He's like, oh, yeah, well, you know, Martin Luther came up with the term saved by faith.

18:43.280 --> 18:47.280
And, you know, that's not even found anywhere in the Bible.

18:47.280 --> 18:49.280
And I said, well, actually it is.

18:49.280 --> 18:51.280
And he goes, oh, yeah, you're talking about the Book of Romans.

18:51.280 --> 18:55.280
I was like, actually, no, I'm talking about the Book of Ephesians where by grace or you say through faith.

18:55.280 --> 18:59.280
And when he saw it, he's like, you know, he did he kind of did one of those like.

18:59.280 --> 19:01.280
But then he tried to get me in at this point.

19:01.280 --> 19:05.280
I was like, I'm not going to argue with like so I think he was like a 13, 14 year old kid.

19:05.280 --> 19:09.280
I was like, if he doesn't get it, you know, his dad's like real impressed with them.

19:09.280 --> 19:11.280
And, you know, it's just one of those sad things.

19:11.280 --> 19:18.280
But at the end of the day, you know what it is, is this verse 14 reminds me of the Catholics because it says, for it is the life of all flesh.

19:18.280 --> 19:20.280
The blood of it is for the life thereof.

19:20.280 --> 19:29.280
Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, you shall eat of the blood of no manner of flesh for the life of all flesh is in the blood thereof.

19:29.280 --> 19:32.280
Whosoever eateth, it shall be cut off.

19:32.280 --> 19:42.280
I guess the Catholics didn't read this chapter because they literally teach that when you drink the wine, it turns into the blood of Jesus Christ.

19:43.280 --> 19:50.280
And that if you eat the, you know, the wafer, it's it literally turns into the flesh of Jesus Christ.

19:50.280 --> 19:58.280
Jesus, why would Jesus contradict himself say, hey, don't eat any blood, but then part of your traditions will be to drink my blood.

19:58.280 --> 20:02.280
It doesn't even, you know, and I really that is a side note.

20:02.280 --> 20:06.280
But, you know, it's important to say, no, because what is God addressing here?

20:06.280 --> 20:12.280
He's like, hey, don't go whoring after other traditions, after just do what I say.

20:12.280 --> 20:19.280
You know, one of the biggest challenges that I struggle with lately, maybe because I'm getting old and I don't know if I'm getting old and ordinary,

20:19.280 --> 20:26.280
but I do get ordinary sometimes is I just like I just tell people just, you know, in my work life, I do with my children.

20:26.280 --> 20:29.280
I'm just like, do what I say, not what you think I said.

20:29.280 --> 20:31.280
Just do what I say.

20:31.280 --> 20:34.280
Just execute exactly as I asked for it.

20:34.280 --> 20:39.280
Don't infer, don't add or take away what you thought I missed or didn't miss.

20:39.280 --> 20:42.280
Hey, if I mess up, I'll own up to it.

20:42.280 --> 20:47.280
But just do what I say, like just just the exact thing that I say.

20:47.280 --> 20:51.280
And then, like literally five minutes later, they're doing like the complete opposite.

20:51.280 --> 20:52.280
I'm like, did I say that?

20:52.280 --> 20:53.280
No, I didn't say that at all.

20:53.280 --> 20:55.280
Don't do what I didn't say.

20:55.280 --> 20:56.280
Right.

20:56.280 --> 21:02.280
I can imagine if I get frustrated in my flesh and I know that I don't do everything the Lord says,

21:02.280 --> 21:05.280
can you imagine how long suffering and patient the Lord is with us?

21:05.280 --> 21:09.280
I mean, literally, this is one of the greatest examples because the Old Testament,

21:09.280 --> 21:11.280
especially the first five books of the Bible,

21:11.280 --> 21:18.280
which is interesting that the modern day nation of Israel would focus so much on only those first five books

21:18.280 --> 21:20.280
when in the first five books of the Bible,

21:20.280 --> 21:25.280
the one thing that's evident is that people are hard headed and their hearts are hardened

21:25.280 --> 21:28.280
and they don't harken to the word of the Lord constantly.

21:28.280 --> 21:31.280
He's like, if you would only listen, you didn't listen.

21:31.280 --> 21:32.280
You didn't do what I said.

21:32.280 --> 21:33.280
You're screwing up.

21:33.280 --> 21:35.280
And this is why I got to get on to you.

21:35.280 --> 21:36.280
Right.

21:36.280 --> 21:37.280
But let's go.

21:37.280 --> 21:38.280
Let's go to the points.

21:38.280 --> 21:39.280
Go back to Leviticus 16.

21:39.280 --> 21:41.280
We're not going to be in a lot of places.

21:41.280 --> 21:43.280
We're going to cover a lot of scripture.

21:43.280 --> 21:44.280
But just so you guys know, for the most part,

21:44.280 --> 21:47.280
we're probably the majority of the time of being Leviticus and Hebrews.

21:47.280 --> 21:51.280
If you want to keep your fingers there, obviously, I have other scripture that we're going to add.

21:51.280 --> 21:54.280
But those are the main places we're going to jump around to.

21:54.280 --> 21:55.280
But what is that word of tongue?

21:55.280 --> 21:56.280
Right.

21:55.280 --> 21:58.280
Atonement to atone for something.

21:58.280 --> 22:04.280
And it's just all it is is a conventional requirements as to social behavior,

22:04.280 --> 22:09.280
proprieties, I mean, properties of conduct as established in any class or community or

22:09.280 --> 22:17.280
for indication, but also a prescribed or accepted code of usage in matter of ceremony as at a court

22:17.280 --> 22:19.280
or an official or other form of observance.

22:19.280 --> 22:24.280
But also we see this.

22:24.280 --> 22:25.280
The code of.

22:25.280 --> 22:26.280
You know what?

22:26.280 --> 22:27.280
I don't think that's the word atonement.

22:27.280 --> 22:28.280
I'm going to have to look this up.

22:28.280 --> 22:35.280
I think I need to not write stuff for 10 late at night because I'm like, this does not sound like let me let me let me verify this for you guys today.

22:35.280 --> 22:40.280
I don't usually do this, but I think I might have copied another one of the things that I'm going to do.

22:40.280 --> 22:41.280
I'm going to do this.

22:41.280 --> 22:42.280
I'm going to do this.

22:42.280 --> 22:43.280
I'm going to do this.

22:43.280 --> 22:44.280
I'm going to do this.

22:44.280 --> 22:45.280
I'm going to do this.

22:45.280 --> 22:46.280
I'm going to do this.

22:46.280 --> 22:47.280
I'm going to do this.

22:47.280 --> 22:52.280
But I think I might have copied another.

22:52.280 --> 23:01.280
Thank God that his saving grace has nothing to do with my works because we make mistakes because I remember specifically.

23:01.280 --> 23:06.280
Yeah, I don't even know how how we got this.

23:06.280 --> 23:07.280
You know what?

23:07.280 --> 23:09.280
I copied and pasted, but it didn't paste.

23:09.280 --> 23:11.280
This is an old definition from another word.

23:11.280 --> 23:12.280
This is the definition.

23:12.280 --> 23:13.280
I know what word was here.

23:13.280 --> 23:14.280
Etiquette.

23:14.280 --> 23:16.280
So all I just told you is the word etiquette.

23:16.280 --> 23:24.280
The word atonement means satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury like an amends.

23:24.280 --> 23:25.280
Right.

23:25.280 --> 23:41.280
It's something like the doctrine concerning the reconciliation of God and human mankind, especially as accomplished through the life, suffering and death of Christ, which also requires what the blood.

23:41.280 --> 23:42.280
Obviously, this is dictionary.com.

23:42.280 --> 23:49.280
But I just want to let you know that even modern dictionaries have to give you that definition because that's where they get the word atonement from.

23:49.280 --> 23:50.280
Right.

23:50.280 --> 23:54.280
The experience of human kind unity with God exemplified by Jesus Christ.

23:54.280 --> 23:55.280
What is it?

23:55.280 --> 23:56.280
It's a reconciliation.

23:56.280 --> 23:57.280
Right.

23:57.280 --> 23:59.280
We teach the doctrine of reconciliation.

23:59.280 --> 24:00.280
It's the agreement.

24:00.280 --> 24:02.280
It's what needed to be done.

24:02.280 --> 24:03.280
What's to reconcile?

24:03.280 --> 24:05.280
If you've ever had to do any.

24:05.280 --> 24:08.280
Our kids won't know this, but my mom taught me this.

24:08.280 --> 24:09.280
My first checkbook.

24:09.280 --> 24:13.280
She remembers in the back you had the little ledger on the checkbooks.

24:13.280 --> 24:15.280
Whoever used the ledger in the back of a checkbook.

24:15.280 --> 24:16.280
Just right.

24:16.280 --> 24:17.280
Yeah.

24:17.280 --> 24:18.280
Remember that.

24:18.280 --> 24:19.280
Did you guys do that?

24:19.280 --> 24:20.280
You didn't do that.

24:20.280 --> 24:21.280
Rather Jerry, you never used it.

24:21.280 --> 24:22.280
OK.

24:22.280 --> 24:24.280
So my mom, you know, you get a checkbook.

24:24.280 --> 24:32.280
You know, remember the little checkbook and in the back is a ledger and you would write the check because you remember it took like two, three weeks to get the check cash.

24:32.280 --> 24:33.280
So you were right.

24:33.280 --> 24:35.280
You know, starting balance, $2,000.

24:36.280 --> 24:39.280
Then you write a check for $200.

24:39.280 --> 24:42.280
So then you have to put the date and what you wrote it for.

24:42.280 --> 24:46.280
Then you put current balance $1800.

24:46.280 --> 24:55.280
The reason you did that is so that you didn't overdraft because in your mind your bank account is $2,000 and you're just spending two grand for getting you.

24:55.280 --> 24:58.280
You know, you didn't you know, you wrote those checks that you couldn't cash.

24:58.280 --> 24:59.280
That's where we get that term.

24:59.280 --> 25:00.280
You know, he's writing a check.

25:00.280 --> 25:03.280
Can't cash because he's literally writing a check.

25:03.280 --> 25:06.000
He's literally writing a check, he can't cash,

25:06.000 --> 25:07.840
because he doesn't know how to reconcile his book.

25:07.840 --> 25:10.900
But reconciliation was that you went on,

25:10.900 --> 25:11.880
you got your statement,

25:11.880 --> 25:14.400
and you verified that those checks came out,

25:14.400 --> 25:16.640
and on occasion, there might have been a check

25:16.640 --> 25:18.780
that just for some reason got lost or something,

25:18.780 --> 25:20.320
but it was still owed,

25:20.320 --> 25:22.360
and so the balance is showing on your current,

25:22.360 --> 25:26.040
let's say it was 2,000, you wrote $500 worth of checks,

25:26.040 --> 25:27.900
but your statement says 1,800,

25:27.900 --> 25:30.280
so there's $300 that aren't accounted for,

25:30.280 --> 25:32.160
and you either had to call the bank,

25:32.160 --> 25:33.840
or call the person you issued the check to

25:33.840 --> 25:36.000
and be like, hey, I wrote you a check.

25:36.000 --> 25:37.480
As a matter of fact, I still do this to this day,

25:37.480 --> 25:40.440
if I write a check, I'm like, cash the check immediately.

25:40.440 --> 25:42.320
Pastor Cobb has done that with me,

25:42.320 --> 25:44.680
he's like, hey, cash that check immediately,

25:44.680 --> 25:47.280
because we need to reconcile the books.

25:47.280 --> 25:49.080
I don't remember for what, this is many, many years ago

25:49.080 --> 25:51.200
when I first started helping with the finances,

25:51.200 --> 25:53.300
like he always wants the cash, the checks immediately,

25:53.300 --> 25:54.680
because we want everything in balance,

25:54.680 --> 25:57.960
it means that everything is accounted for.

25:57.960 --> 26:01.160
So what is atonement is the blood is what accounts

26:01.160 --> 26:05.440
for our sin, the only way we get saved is by faith,

26:05.440 --> 26:07.880
but the reason we have the faith is on the work,

26:07.880 --> 26:11.160
on the paid work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

26:11.160 --> 26:12.900
I know that was a little bit longer explanation,

26:12.900 --> 26:16.400
but I had to because I can see the older kids are like,

26:16.400 --> 26:19.100
reconciling a book, a checkbook, we'll show you,

26:19.100 --> 26:20.480
it's real easy, as a matter of fact,

26:20.480 --> 26:23.120
y'all should learn how to reconcile a checkbook,

26:23.120 --> 26:24.760
even if you never write a check,

26:24.760 --> 26:26.800
because it'll just save your life later on,

26:26.800 --> 26:28.360
but anyways, that's a whole other,

26:28.360 --> 26:30.680
financially, not physically, you're not gonna die

26:30.680 --> 26:31.520
or anything like that.

26:31.520 --> 26:34.360
But point number one, go back to Leviticus 16,

26:34.360 --> 26:35.640
I've got only a couple points for you,

26:35.640 --> 26:37.840
but I wanna tie this together,

26:37.840 --> 26:42.840
is that atonement has to come before any action.

26:43.640 --> 26:46.640
Before any of us could ever get saved,

26:46.640 --> 26:49.560
Jesus Christ had to be the one to atone for our sins.

26:49.560 --> 26:53.320
We can't just believe on just some general thing, right?

26:53.320 --> 26:56.080
That's why we're so specific, when we're out so many,

26:56.080 --> 26:59.120
we ask people, people say, oh, I believe,

26:59.160 --> 27:00.760
okay, what do you believe in?

27:00.760 --> 27:03.440
Oh, I believe in God, no, no, no.

27:03.440 --> 27:05.520
What do you mean by you believe in God?

27:05.520 --> 27:07.400
Well, you know, just God, I believe in God,

27:07.400 --> 27:10.540
I believe in the Bible, I believe in spiritual things,

27:10.540 --> 27:13.200
no, we believe in Jesus Christ.

27:13.200 --> 27:15.000
Bible says, I have the way, the truth, and the life,

27:15.000 --> 27:17.680
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me,

27:17.680 --> 27:21.400
the reason we're so specific is because without that,

27:21.400 --> 27:23.040
there is no atonement.

27:23.040 --> 27:25.080
People believe in a lot of things,

27:25.080 --> 27:27.240
all those things will never get them to heaven,

27:27.240 --> 27:28.760
the only thing that gets you to heaven

27:29.400 --> 27:30.440
is your belief on Jesus Christ, right?

27:30.440 --> 27:35.440
It's the foundation, the only way that sin is atoned for

27:35.640 --> 27:37.720
is it must be dealt with first, right?

27:37.720 --> 27:41.780
Jesus, Bible says that he was before the foundation

27:41.780 --> 27:44.800
of the earth, he was already sacrificed, right?

27:44.800 --> 27:46.800
I don't wanna butcher that, so I'm just paraphrasing this.

27:46.800 --> 27:49.880
But there in Leviticus 16 verse 30, the Bible says,

27:49.880 --> 27:54.140
for on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you

27:54.140 --> 27:57.420
to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins

27:57.420 --> 28:01.180
before the Lord, it shall be a Sabbath of rest unto you,

28:01.180 --> 28:05.940
and ye shall afflict your souls by a statute forever.

28:05.940 --> 28:09.200
Now before that, you're there in Leviticus 16,

28:09.200 --> 28:10.540
and it's a couple of interesting things,

28:10.540 --> 28:12.860
this is actually a couple, these two chapters

28:12.860 --> 28:14.700
are really interesting, because there's a lot

28:14.700 --> 28:15.660
that has to happen, right?

28:15.660 --> 28:18.460
In verse one, it says, and the Lord speak unto Moses,

28:18.460 --> 28:20.620
after the death of the two sons of Aaron,

28:20.620 --> 28:22.940
when they offered before the Lord and died,

28:22.940 --> 28:25.980
and the Lord said unto Moses, speak unto Aaron thy brother,

28:25.980 --> 28:28.900
that he come not at all times into the holy place

28:28.900 --> 28:31.020
within the veil before the mercy sea,

28:31.020 --> 28:33.380
which is upon the ark, that he die not,

28:33.380 --> 28:36.140
for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy sea.

28:36.140 --> 28:37.460
And I don't wanna go through all this,

28:37.460 --> 28:42.320
but basically before Aaron could ever make an atonement

28:42.320 --> 28:43.760
for the sins of the people, you know,

28:43.760 --> 28:45.780
the people would bring the sacrifice,

28:45.780 --> 28:47.740
and there would be an atonement for sins,

28:47.740 --> 28:49.220
what did he have to do?

28:49.220 --> 28:54.220
He had to bring his own sacrifice and atone for himself,

28:55.060 --> 28:58.860
and once he was atoned for, then he could turn around

28:58.860 --> 29:01.500
and do the same, right?

29:01.500 --> 29:02.380
And why is that?

29:02.380 --> 29:04.940
Because there's only one that can do it without doing that,

29:04.940 --> 29:06.260
and that's Jesus Christ.

29:06.260 --> 29:10.260
Like, he had to cleanse himself and then be able to,

29:10.260 --> 29:13.540
like, you can't just randomly cleanse people, you know,

29:13.540 --> 29:16.140
even in the Old Testament, like it just doesn't happen,

29:16.140 --> 29:18.180
but I like, the reason I picked,

29:18.180 --> 29:20.060
right there in verse 13 and 31 is,

29:20.060 --> 29:24.140
that once the atonement, the priest was atoned,

29:25.060 --> 29:28.900
and then he made an atonement for you to cleanse you,

29:28.900 --> 29:29.740
what did the Bible say?

29:29.740 --> 29:34.260
It shall be a Sabbath of rest unto you.

29:34.260 --> 29:35.900
That's how you know that the Jews don't understand it,

29:35.900 --> 29:37.300
because what's the Sabbath?

29:38.780 --> 29:40.380
The atonement.

29:40.380 --> 29:42.620
That's when you get rest from what?

29:42.620 --> 29:45.100
From the condemnation, right?

29:45.100 --> 29:48.660
Jesus Christ, Jesus God, well, he is God,

29:48.660 --> 29:51.660
but that sounds weird, but God is our rest.

29:51.660 --> 29:53.780
The Bible tells us that in Hebrews, right?

29:54.620 --> 29:56.700
He says, you know, if you go to Romans 5,

29:56.700 --> 29:59.500
go to Romans 5, right?

29:59.500 --> 30:02.700
But God doesn't address what the behavior,

30:02.700 --> 30:04.300
he starts with the atonement.

30:05.540 --> 30:08.500
He starts with the cleansing, right?

30:08.500 --> 30:10.460
We believe in the power of God,

30:10.460 --> 30:13.940
we actually believe in the supernatural regeneration

30:13.940 --> 30:14.780
of what?

30:14.780 --> 30:15.620
The spirit.

30:15.620 --> 30:20.620
We go from a corruptible soul to an incorruptible soul,

30:20.620 --> 30:21.460
right?

30:21.460 --> 30:22.900
That's something we don't see,

30:22.900 --> 30:24.700
there's evidence of things not seen,

30:24.700 --> 30:26.300
but that's what we have the faith on, right?

30:26.300 --> 30:29.780
That Jesus cleansed us, he paid for the sins,

30:29.780 --> 30:32.700
but the minute that I said I believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,

30:32.700 --> 30:35.820
now that transformation has taken place, right?

30:35.820 --> 30:37.780
Romans 5 verse 8, we know these verses,

30:37.780 --> 30:41.300
but it says, but God commended his love toward us,

30:41.300 --> 30:45.500
then while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,

30:45.500 --> 30:49.340
much more than being now justified by his blood,

30:49.340 --> 30:52.580
we shall be saved from the wrath through him,

30:53.260 --> 30:57.780
for if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God

30:57.780 --> 31:01.860
by the death of his son, so much more being reconciled,

31:01.860 --> 31:04.100
we shall be saved by his life,

31:04.100 --> 31:06.820
and not only so, but we also joy in God

31:06.820 --> 31:07.840
through our Lord Jesus Christ,

31:07.840 --> 31:11.460
by whom we have now received the atonement.

31:11.460 --> 31:13.940
Why do we have joy in God?

31:13.940 --> 31:16.780
Because it's through our Lord Jesus Christ.

31:16.780 --> 31:19.420
That's why I don't buy into this crap where it's like,

31:19.420 --> 31:21.540
oh well, you know, when Jesus walked on this earth,

31:21.540 --> 31:25.900
he was divine sometimes, and sometimes he was all divine,

31:25.900 --> 31:28.180
because the only thing that makes us even divine

31:28.180 --> 31:31.580
is the work that Jesus did, his blood is what cleanses us,

31:31.580 --> 31:35.220
it's the only way we get to the Father, period.

31:35.220 --> 31:38.220
Hebrews 9, go to Hebrews 9, go to Hebrews 9,

31:38.220 --> 31:42.680
we're there in verse 7, and we see in verse 7 it says,

31:43.580 --> 31:48.580
but into the second went, and this is into the veil,

31:49.020 --> 31:52.220
he said, but into the second went the high priest alone

31:52.220 --> 31:55.540
once every year, not without blood,

31:55.540 --> 31:59.260
which he offered for himself, and for the heirs of the people,

31:59.260 --> 32:02.620
the Holy Ghost this signifying that the way

32:02.620 --> 32:06.520
into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest,

32:06.520 --> 32:09.320
while as the first tabernacle was yet standing,

32:09.320 --> 32:13.140
which was a figure for the time then present,

32:13.140 --> 32:17.060
in which we were offered both gifts and sacrifices

32:17.060 --> 32:22.060
that could not make him, that did the service perfect

32:22.400 --> 32:25.820
as pertaining to the conscious, which stood only in meats

32:25.820 --> 32:28.500
and drinks and divers washings and carnal orniths

32:28.500 --> 32:31.460
as imposed on them until the end,

32:31.460 --> 32:35.560
until the time of reformation, but Christ being come

32:35.560 --> 32:39.240
in high priest of good things to come by a greater

32:39.240 --> 32:42.700
and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands,

32:42.700 --> 32:44.900
that is to say, not of this building,

32:44.900 --> 32:48.300
neither by the blood of goats and calves,

32:48.300 --> 32:52.100
but by his own blood, he entered in once into the holy place,

32:52.100 --> 32:55.700
having obtained eternal redemption for us,

32:55.700 --> 32:58.980
for if the blood of bulls and of goats

32:58.980 --> 33:02.700
and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean,

33:02.700 --> 33:05.780
sanctify to the purifying of the flesh,

33:05.780 --> 33:07.260
and by the way, what did it purify?

33:07.260 --> 33:10.820
The flesh, but it did purify the flesh,

33:10.820 --> 33:13.340
how much more shall the blood of Christ

33:13.380 --> 33:15.780
who through the eternal spirit offered himself

33:15.780 --> 33:19.100
without spot to God, purge your conscious

33:19.100 --> 33:22.100
from dead works to serve the living God.

33:22.100 --> 33:25.300
Hey, it's a serious thing, not only the salvation,

33:25.300 --> 33:29.660
but even the etiquette and the decorum of what we do in church.

33:29.660 --> 33:32.200
Now the works don't save us, but if we want to have

33:32.200 --> 33:34.580
that sanctification, yeah, we need to clean up.

33:34.580 --> 33:37.000
That's why we preach sanctification.

33:37.000 --> 33:39.420
That's why we preach clean up your life,

33:39.420 --> 33:42.220
fix the sin, especially the besetting sins in your life,

33:42.220 --> 33:46.220
do the things because we know that if that worked,

33:46.220 --> 33:49.060
how much more will the blood of Christ work in our lives?

33:49.980 --> 33:51.980
Right, Titus 3 verse 5, the Bible says,

33:51.980 --> 33:54.900
not by works of righteousness, which we have done,

33:54.900 --> 33:57.700
but according to his mercy, he saved us

33:57.700 --> 34:01.060
by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost,

34:01.060 --> 34:03.660
which he shed on us abundantly

34:03.660 --> 34:06.100
through Jesus Christ our savior,

34:06.100 --> 34:08.380
that being justified by his grace,

34:08.380 --> 34:11.180
we should be made heirs according to the hope

34:11.220 --> 34:12.780
of eternal life.

34:14.900 --> 34:19.900
Look, if you try to fix your life before salvation,

34:21.380 --> 34:23.100
you're just gonna fail.

34:23.100 --> 34:26.260
These self-help gurus, these people that are like,

34:26.260 --> 34:28.340
I'm just, who's ever gone so in it,

34:28.340 --> 34:30.060
and they're like, oh, I want to believe,

34:30.060 --> 34:32.740
but I just gotta fix some stuff in my life first.

34:32.740 --> 34:34.400
No, you're setting up yourself for failure.

34:34.400 --> 34:36.620
Nobody's gonna fix anything in their life.

34:37.860 --> 34:40.140
As a matter of fact, I'll just be really honest with you.

34:40.140 --> 34:42.980
One of the things that I, I don't know that I hate,

34:42.980 --> 34:45.780
but I definitely dislike about being a pastor,

34:45.780 --> 34:49.320
is that I make mistakes, right?

34:49.320 --> 34:52.700
And I want to help people out, I want to help myself out,

34:52.700 --> 34:53.700
but we're gonna fail.

34:53.700 --> 34:55.300
It's one of those things.

34:55.300 --> 34:58.420
And so then, you're caught between,

34:58.420 --> 35:00.340
hey, I just gotta stick to the word,

35:00.340 --> 35:02.420
then playing this game where you're constantly

35:02.420 --> 35:03.700
second guessing yourself.

35:05.900 --> 35:08.440
There's nothing that I'm gonna do to fix your life,

35:08.440 --> 35:10.280
and there's nothing you're gonna do to fix my life

35:10.280 --> 35:11.640
without the word of God.

35:11.640 --> 35:13.160
We've gotta stay focused,

35:13.160 --> 35:15.720
and it's very frustrating sometimes.

35:15.720 --> 35:18.400
I'll get up here, and I'm trying to address things,

35:18.400 --> 35:21.840
and maybe I don't see those things, or vice versa.

35:21.840 --> 35:24.140
I'm the one that's like, okay, I want to do this,

35:24.140 --> 35:26.000
or I'm trying to do that, or I have this,

35:26.000 --> 35:28.200
I'm trying to build these types of relationships,

35:28.200 --> 35:31.260
and then I'm going behind my own back,

35:31.260 --> 35:34.260
second guessing my own self, and be like,

35:34.260 --> 35:36.360
what am I doing, am I focused on the things of God,

35:36.360 --> 35:37.880
or am I focused on myself?

35:37.880 --> 35:42.840
This constant battle where when I take my eye off the ball,

35:42.840 --> 35:45.680
I just know that I'm already in bad waters,

35:45.680 --> 35:47.000
I'm already failing.

35:47.000 --> 35:50.160
Everything's just constantly in disarray,

35:50.160 --> 35:52.280
but then the minute I just get back on track,

35:52.280 --> 35:53.320
I just forget everything else.

35:53.320 --> 35:55.520
I'm like, you know what, let the Lord sort it out.

35:55.520 --> 35:59.060
And so we're constantly playing this game.

35:59.060 --> 36:01.600
Think about how sad it is for the people who are lost.

36:02.760 --> 36:05.780
That Catholic kid and his dad, I feel really bad for them

36:05.780 --> 36:10.780
because they left and they thought they got one on me,

36:11.300 --> 36:13.500
and they're going to hell.

36:13.500 --> 36:14.700
And I mean, I wasn't trying to,

36:14.700 --> 36:17.160
I honestly, I wanted to give them my best.

36:17.160 --> 36:18.780
Today was one of the most frustrating days.

36:18.780 --> 36:20.380
I had a guy, the first guy,

36:20.380 --> 36:22.260
I think Brother Jerry picked up on that.

36:22.260 --> 36:25.060
I don't know if the guy was understanding anything I said.

36:25.060 --> 36:26.660
I finally just had to stop,

36:26.660 --> 36:28.960
because I mean, every time I checked him on stuff,

36:28.960 --> 36:30.360
he was like in another world.

36:30.360 --> 36:32.700
I don't know if he didn't understand basic Spanish,

36:32.700 --> 36:35.220
if he was uneducated, or maybe he was on drugs,

36:35.540 --> 36:37.020
but I just couldn't get him to be like right here

36:37.020 --> 36:38.200
in the moment.

36:38.200 --> 36:41.300
Then I met the Catholics, then I met this lady

36:41.300 --> 36:43.660
who just like talked circles around me.

36:43.660 --> 36:45.460
And you know, the sad part was like,

36:46.740 --> 36:48.740
I'm like, okay, I got to stop

36:48.740 --> 36:51.000
because there's other people that can get saved,

36:51.000 --> 36:54.140
but I don't want to stop because I've got to give it my all.

36:54.140 --> 36:55.780
But I don't know that I'm getting through to these people.

36:55.780 --> 36:58.300
Like, you know, and you know why?

36:58.300 --> 37:00.620
Because they're trying to fix stuff in their own way

37:00.620 --> 37:02.180
instead of listening to the word of God.

37:02.180 --> 37:04.780
Let's go to point number two, go back to Leviticus 16.

37:06.220 --> 37:08.220
You know, people try to put the cart before the horse

37:08.220 --> 37:10.100
is basically what's going on, right?

37:10.100 --> 37:13.360
The second point is that we're going to take a look here

37:13.360 --> 37:15.260
at the high priest.

37:15.260 --> 37:16.740
And what does the high priest represent?

37:16.740 --> 37:20.740
The one man that stands between God and man, the mediator.

37:20.740 --> 37:21.700
What does it represent?

37:21.700 --> 37:25.260
It represents Jesus Christ, the ultimate high priest,

37:25.260 --> 37:27.100
the mediator between what?

37:27.100 --> 37:28.460
Man and God.

37:28.460 --> 37:32.580
And you know, we constantly need mediation in our life.

37:32.580 --> 37:34.820
I mean, I preached about it last year.

37:35.420 --> 37:36.780
I even preached about the what?

37:36.780 --> 37:39.480
The prayer of intercessory prayer, right?

37:39.480 --> 37:40.940
We mediate for others.

37:40.940 --> 37:43.260
We're constantly, my wife and I are constantly praying

37:43.260 --> 37:45.600
for our kids or for the church

37:45.600 --> 37:47.380
or for the members of the church.

37:47.380 --> 37:49.860
And I'm constantly asking you guys, hey, pray for me

37:49.860 --> 37:52.420
that I can speak the word of God more boldly, all right?

37:52.420 --> 37:55.040
That we can do these things, pray for each other.

37:55.040 --> 37:59.400
But God sent Jesus to be the mediator for us.

37:59.400 --> 38:01.260
And we see this picture in the Old Testament.

38:01.260 --> 38:04.220
Luke 16, I mean, Leviticus 16, right there, verse 17,

38:04.700 --> 38:07.140
it says, and there shall be no man in the tabernacle

38:07.140 --> 38:09.500
of the congregation when he goeth into making atonement

38:09.500 --> 38:11.580
in the holy place until he come out

38:11.580 --> 38:13.420
and have made an atonement for himself

38:13.420 --> 38:14.860
and for his household

38:14.860 --> 38:17.260
and for all the congregation of Israel.

38:17.260 --> 38:19.540
The difference is, what is this talking about?

38:19.540 --> 38:23.220
Aaron couldn't even address anybody else

38:23.220 --> 38:25.820
until he cleaned up his own home

38:26.880 --> 38:29.680
and then he was able to then atone for other people.

38:30.680 --> 38:34.080
That's why that system didn't work

38:35.080 --> 38:38.360
because Jesus Christ did it once and for all, right?

38:38.360 --> 38:41.300
But if we were to apply this to modern day times,

38:41.300 --> 38:44.060
well, here in the church, hey, before,

38:44.060 --> 38:45.400
that's why the Bible says,

38:45.400 --> 38:48.540
if the bishop can't rule his own home,

38:48.540 --> 38:50.820
how is he expected to rule the church?

38:50.820 --> 38:52.940
It's basically the same concept, right?

38:52.940 --> 38:55.560
If I'm not ruling my home well,

38:55.560 --> 38:56.960
and well does not mean perfect,

38:56.960 --> 38:58.680
but if I'm not ruling my home well,

38:58.680 --> 39:01.080
then how do I expect to rule the church well?

39:01.080 --> 39:03.380
You know what, it does actually translate

39:03.380 --> 39:05.680
because running a church at times

39:05.680 --> 39:09.960
can feel like you're parenting other church members,

39:09.960 --> 39:11.340
not talking down to them.

39:11.340 --> 39:13.000
I'm not condescending, by the way,

39:13.000 --> 39:15.760
but just dealing with the things that you've got to deal with.

39:15.760 --> 39:19.040
As a matter of fact, I hate dealing with issues in the church

39:19.040 --> 39:22.820
just because I don't wanna do that.

39:22.820 --> 39:24.800
But at the end of the day, you know what?

39:24.800 --> 39:25.960
I have to do that.

39:25.960 --> 39:28.320
Like, if I don't address things,

39:28.320 --> 39:29.520
you know who I'm responsible to?

39:29.520 --> 39:30.360
God.

39:30.360 --> 39:31.920
And if I don't address things,

39:31.920 --> 39:34.000
then God's gonna beat up on me,

39:34.000 --> 39:37.280
or beat up on me and on the issue that I'm addressing.

39:37.280 --> 39:39.760
I'd rather just him not beat up on any of us, right?

39:39.760 --> 39:41.360
Like, just let's get it over with.

39:41.360 --> 39:46.360
But Aaron, you know, the hard part was Aaron had to go in,

39:46.640 --> 39:48.060
think about how much work,

39:48.060 --> 39:50.280
I'm so glad that we don't live in Old Testament.

39:50.280 --> 39:52.360
Like, you have to carry your own,

39:52.360 --> 39:55.600
you gotta go in there, you gotta sacrifice,

39:55.600 --> 39:57.220
take care of your business,

39:57.220 --> 39:59.100
make sure that your house is in order,

39:59.100 --> 40:01.820
and then you gotta, this long line of people

40:01.820 --> 40:04.340
that are coming to get atoned for their sins.

40:04.340 --> 40:05.300
It's a lot of work.

40:06.380 --> 40:09.180
I mean, the hardest thing I had to do is read my Bible

40:09.180 --> 40:12.840
and then prepare sermons, you know, three times a week,

40:12.840 --> 40:15.060
which is still hard work, don't get me wrong,

40:15.060 --> 40:17.180
but it's definitely not, you know.

40:17.180 --> 40:19.620
And God's like serious, and then the worst part is,

40:19.620 --> 40:21.940
you know, obviously God's serious all the time,

40:21.940 --> 40:24.100
but he's long suffering, and in the New Testament,

40:24.100 --> 40:25.780
we have a different grace, right?

40:25.820 --> 40:27.780
The thing is, in the Old Testament,

40:27.780 --> 40:30.580
he like, he takes people out constantly like that.

40:30.580 --> 40:33.100
Now I'm not saying God doesn't do that now,

40:33.100 --> 40:35.740
but if he's doing it, it's just not as evident to us, right?

40:35.740 --> 40:39.180
Like back in the Old Testament, like the earth opens up

40:39.180 --> 40:41.260
and people get swallowed up right in front of your eyes.

40:41.260 --> 40:43.620
That's not happening in 2026.

40:43.620 --> 40:45.780
I know that God's taking people out,

40:45.780 --> 40:49.260
he's just not making it as evident all the time to us,

40:49.260 --> 40:50.940
we're just living it by faith, right?

40:50.940 --> 40:52.460
Now other times he's making it evident,

40:52.460 --> 40:53.540
I've already preached those sermons,

40:53.540 --> 40:55.220
but you know, you got some of these guys

40:55.220 --> 40:59.620
who got like these strange diseases of the skin

40:59.620 --> 41:01.860
that only one person in the world has it,

41:01.860 --> 41:03.820
and they were people that went against the men of God.

41:03.820 --> 41:07.740
Like, I mean, if you think that's a coincidence,

41:07.740 --> 41:09.300
you know, I don't know what to tell you.

41:09.300 --> 41:12.100
So, but go back to Hebrews nine, go back to Hebrews nine,

41:12.100 --> 41:13.700
we're gonna repeat a couple of verses,

41:13.700 --> 41:15.220
then we're gonna go further down.

41:15.220 --> 41:17.580
But in Hebrews nine, right there, verse 11,

41:17.580 --> 41:20.740
the Bible says, but Christ being come and high priest

41:20.740 --> 41:22.420
of good things to come by a greater

41:22.420 --> 41:25.540
and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands.

41:26.580 --> 41:28.980
And sorry, let me go there in Hebrews nine,

41:28.980 --> 41:30.260
somehow I cut this off.

41:31.420 --> 41:33.180
Nice thing we got it right here.

41:45.140 --> 41:47.820
But Christ being come and high priest of good things

41:47.820 --> 41:50.460
to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle,

41:50.460 --> 41:52.980
not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building,

41:52.980 --> 41:55.020
neither by the blood of goats and calves,

41:55.020 --> 42:00.020
but by his own blood, he entered in once into the holy place,

42:00.540 --> 42:03.460
having attained eternal redemption for us.

42:03.460 --> 42:04.940
Now go down to verse 15, it says,

42:04.940 --> 42:09.820
and for this cause, he is the mediator of the New Testament,

42:09.820 --> 42:12.540
that by means of death, for the redemption

42:12.540 --> 42:16.100
of the transgressions that were under the first Testament,

42:16.100 --> 42:18.780
that they which are called might receive the promise

42:18.820 --> 42:21.980
of eternal inheritance, for where a Testament is,

42:21.980 --> 42:26.900
there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

42:26.900 --> 42:30.380
For a Testament is a force after men are dead,

42:30.380 --> 42:32.780
otherwise it is of no strength at all

42:32.780 --> 42:34.780
while the testator liveth.

42:34.780 --> 42:36.620
Whereupon neither the first Testament

42:36.620 --> 42:40.540
was dedicated without blood, for when Moses had spoken

42:40.540 --> 42:43.140
every precept to all the people according to the law,

42:43.140 --> 42:46.060
he took the blood of calves and of goats with water

42:46.100 --> 42:50.060
and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book

42:50.060 --> 42:51.940
and all the people, saying, this is the blood

42:51.940 --> 42:54.940
of the Testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

42:54.940 --> 42:58.540
Moreover, he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle

42:58.540 --> 43:00.220
and all the vessels of the ministry,

43:00.220 --> 43:05.220
and almost all things are by the law purged with blood,

43:05.620 --> 43:09.580
and without shedding of blood is no remission of sin.

43:10.780 --> 43:11.900
Hey, we need the blood.

43:12.760 --> 43:14.980
I have a sermon I preach, I probably ought to update it,

43:14.980 --> 43:17.500
because it's when I first started preaching,

43:17.500 --> 43:20.980
it probably just didn't have the oomph that we needed,

43:20.980 --> 43:25.980
but, and it was talking about the power of the blood.

43:26.180 --> 43:28.140
As a matter of fact, Pastor Cobb, when I first got ordained,

43:28.140 --> 43:32.940
gave me a book by a doctor and a preacher,

43:32.940 --> 43:34.580
and he wrote about the power of the blood.

43:34.580 --> 43:36.860
And literally, the blood is just like one of the most

43:36.860 --> 43:41.420
interesting bodily functions in the entire body.

43:41.420 --> 43:42.700
I'm not gonna even go into it right now,

43:42.700 --> 43:44.300
just because I'd probably butcher it.

43:44.300 --> 43:46.220
But just the fact that it has all those,

43:46.220 --> 43:47.540
it carries all the oxygen.

43:47.540 --> 43:50.420
I will say this, the only reason you're even alive right now

43:50.420 --> 43:52.540
is because there's blood in your body.

43:52.540 --> 43:55.100
I mean, without the blood, you wouldn't be,

43:55.100 --> 44:00.100
every ounce, every corner of your body has to get blood.

44:00.520 --> 44:04.380
The delivery of oxygen to your body is through the blood.

44:04.380 --> 44:07.860
You're not just breathing, and you're like, oh, I'm alive.

44:07.860 --> 44:12.060
Like that oxygen has to quickly have that chemical reaction,

44:12.060 --> 44:15.100
reach everything, and then deliver that oxygen

44:15.100 --> 44:16.020
to the right places.

44:16.020 --> 44:18.100
It's not just like air comes in.

44:18.100 --> 44:20.500
That's why if somebody doesn't, once the spirit leaves,

44:20.500 --> 44:22.060
you can pump someone full of air,

44:22.060 --> 44:22.940
and they're not gonna live,

44:22.940 --> 44:26.980
because there's no more life to exchange that,

44:26.980 --> 44:28.300
to have that exchange.

44:28.300 --> 44:31.700
Go to Hebrews four, go back a couple pages to Hebrews four,

44:31.700 --> 44:34.460
but it's 1 Timothy two, verse five, the Bible says,

44:34.460 --> 44:39.140
for there's one God, and one mediator between God and man,

44:39.140 --> 44:43.820
the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all

44:43.820 --> 44:47.380
to be testified in due time.

44:47.380 --> 44:49.580
And then in Hebrews four, right there in verse 14,

44:49.580 --> 44:53.920
it says, seeing then that we have a great high priest

44:53.920 --> 44:55.660
that is passed into the heavens,

44:55.660 --> 44:59.660
Jesus, the son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

44:59.660 --> 45:02.200
For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched

45:02.200 --> 45:03.860
with the feelings of our infirmities,

45:03.860 --> 45:06.340
but was in all points tempted like as we are,

45:06.460 --> 45:10.100
and yet without sin, let us therefore come boldly

45:10.100 --> 45:13.080
unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy

45:13.080 --> 45:17.140
and find grace to help in time of need.

45:17.140 --> 45:19.020
Oh, you know, that was one of the things,

45:19.020 --> 45:21.300
just talking about mercy, you know, it's interesting,

45:21.300 --> 45:23.620
because the Catholic, this kid's been taught by Catholics,

45:23.620 --> 45:25.460
oh yeah, the Protestants,

45:25.460 --> 45:27.540
because obviously they think that's a Protestant,

45:27.540 --> 45:30.220
they believe in just faith alone.

45:30.220 --> 45:32.460
And so it's funny, because I read him in Ephesians two,

45:32.460 --> 45:33.860
by grace are you saved from faith,

45:33.860 --> 45:35.740
and he's like, oh, well see, you said earlier,

45:35.740 --> 45:37.420
it was only by faith alone,

45:37.420 --> 45:39.780
but now you're saying it's by grace and faith.

45:39.780 --> 45:44.780
I was like, son, like grace is the thing that God gives us,

45:45.540 --> 45:49.780
it's the faith to believe in that grace that we get saved.

45:49.780 --> 45:51.180
And I gave him the example, I said,

45:51.180 --> 45:55.540
if I leave you this present, this gift here,

45:55.540 --> 45:59.100
and I'm like, that is yours, and I walk away,

45:59.100 --> 46:01.640
you have the choice to take it or not,

46:01.640 --> 46:03.040
that's the faith that you believe

46:03.040 --> 46:05.060
that this gift is worthy for you,

46:05.300 --> 46:07.500
and if you don't take it, well then you just rejected it,

46:07.500 --> 46:10.740
but it already exists, I don't need to,

46:10.740 --> 46:14.220
grace and mercy exist independent of us.

46:14.220 --> 46:15.220
But you know, it's interesting,

46:15.220 --> 46:17.900
because Catholics have a resurgence

46:17.900 --> 46:19.340
in the younger generation,

46:19.340 --> 46:21.160
and they're feeding them all the wrong junk,

46:21.160 --> 46:24.580
like we need to get more stuff out there

46:24.580 --> 46:25.500
from the word of God,

46:25.500 --> 46:30.380
destroying the stupid, demonic Catholic religion, right?

46:30.380 --> 46:32.060
And you need to call it out for what it is,

46:32.060 --> 46:33.780
the way that I'm saying it,

46:33.780 --> 46:35.380
because the only way you're gonna get a Catholic

46:35.380 --> 46:37.100
to open up their eyes is to obviously,

46:37.100 --> 46:40.340
harshly offend them, you know, I mean, God,

46:40.340 --> 46:43.260
Jesus Christ defended people all over the place.

46:43.260 --> 46:46.660
People were like, oh, Jesus would never talk like that.

46:46.660 --> 46:48.380
You know, I don't know why I'm getting off on this,

46:48.380 --> 46:49.940
but just as a side note,

46:49.940 --> 46:51.860
especially for the younger generation,

46:51.860 --> 46:54.820
hey, don't be a jerk, don't be mean to anybody,

46:54.820 --> 46:57.380
just for any reason, but if it's for the cause of Christ,

46:57.380 --> 47:00.460
go to town, destroy them, decimate them,

47:00.460 --> 47:02.660
people say, oh, that's not how people are gonna get saved,

47:02.660 --> 47:03.980
people are gonna get saved more

47:03.980 --> 47:05.340
because you're tough on them

47:05.340 --> 47:07.020
than because you're nice to them.

47:07.020 --> 47:08.500
And if you tippy toe around people,

47:08.500 --> 47:11.440
they're just thinking they're all just like,

47:11.440 --> 47:13.460
singing around the fire, singing kumbaya,

47:13.460 --> 47:15.940
going to heaven, and I think to myself,

47:15.940 --> 47:20.260
that father and son duo, at least we planted the seed,

47:20.260 --> 47:24.380
and he did have a moment of like, I kind of threw him off,

47:24.380 --> 47:27.280
but unless somebody comes around and reemphasizes that,

47:27.280 --> 47:28.700
they're going to hell,

47:28.700 --> 47:30.620
because they don't read all this stuff,

47:30.620 --> 47:32.140
they just read all these other books,

47:32.420 --> 47:34.060
and they don't do the things that we need to do.

47:34.060 --> 47:35.380
So sorry I'm getting off on these tensions,

47:35.380 --> 47:36.220
but some of these,

47:36.220 --> 47:38.220
today was just like an interesting experience,

47:38.220 --> 47:39.660
out so many.

47:39.660 --> 47:41.100
Point number three, go back to Leviticus,

47:41.100 --> 47:45.580
so we see here that we see the atonement,

47:45.580 --> 47:47.980
we see the mediator, right?

47:47.980 --> 47:49.740
And of course, the ultimate mediator,

47:49.740 --> 47:52.340
so Jesus Christ, the high priest,

47:52.340 --> 47:56.180
and then we also have the scapegoat, right?

47:56.180 --> 47:58.420
When they brought sacrifices, they brought two,

47:58.420 --> 48:00.360
one was to be sacrificed,

48:00.360 --> 48:02.760
the blood for the remission of sins,

48:02.760 --> 48:04.040
and then you have the scapegoat,

48:04.040 --> 48:07.600
which represented the sins were leaving the camp,

48:07.600 --> 48:09.900
and they were never to return, right?

48:09.900 --> 48:12.800
And so we see that right there in Leviticus 16,

48:12.800 --> 48:15.580
it's, and we see the substitution,

48:15.580 --> 48:18.560
the sins removed, and it's not just covered,

48:18.560 --> 48:19.600
but it's removed,

48:19.600 --> 48:22.480
which is something that's really important,

48:22.480 --> 48:23.520
when we're preaching stuff,

48:23.520 --> 48:26.680
because people will still sometimes mix these things up,

48:26.680 --> 48:29.380
especially if they've been really harshly indoctrinated,

48:29.380 --> 48:32.940
they think somehow that they have to constantly be asking

48:32.940 --> 48:35.180
for forgiveness of sins, or,

48:35.180 --> 48:38.260
hey, God's forgotten it, it's over.

48:38.260 --> 48:40.720
Once you, first of all, he paid for it,

48:40.720 --> 48:42.900
but then when you ask God for forgiveness,

48:42.900 --> 48:44.340
the Bible says he is just and faithful

48:44.340 --> 48:45.620
to forgive your sins,

48:45.620 --> 48:47.860
but the Old Testament gives us clarity on that,

48:47.860 --> 48:50.060
it says, hey, as far as the east is from the west,

48:50.060 --> 48:51.820
he's forgotten that.

48:51.820 --> 48:53.380
That's why we don't beat anybody up,

48:53.380 --> 48:55.260
or we shouldn't beat anybody up

48:55.260 --> 48:56.780
for any sins that they've committed.

48:56.980 --> 48:59.460
If somebody's asked you for forgiveness of something,

48:59.460 --> 49:01.180
you've gotta move on.

49:01.180 --> 49:02.960
As a matter of fact, I don't do this very often,

49:02.960 --> 49:05.100
but I will give you parenting advice,

49:05.100 --> 49:07.560
hey, if your children ask you for forgiveness,

49:07.560 --> 49:09.700
you need to forgive them and move on.

49:09.700 --> 49:12.140
Especially if you're Hispanic, don't be passive aggressive,

49:12.140 --> 49:14.940
or Hispanic and probably Filipino,

49:14.940 --> 49:15.860
because it's very similar.

49:15.860 --> 49:19.140
I don't know, white people that I've met

49:19.140 --> 49:21.180
don't seem to be as passive aggressive.

49:21.180 --> 49:22.300
My daughter, when she was little,

49:22.300 --> 49:24.380
she would say, daddy is passive aggressive,

49:24.380 --> 49:26.420
and mommy is straight aggressive.

49:27.420 --> 49:30.020
I was apparently the one that had the problem.

49:30.020 --> 49:31.860
I do, I have to work on that.

49:31.860 --> 49:33.780
I am passive aggressive at times.

49:33.780 --> 49:35.260
Point number three is the scapegoat.

49:35.260 --> 49:38.640
Let's look at the scapegoat here, Leviticus 16 verse 21.

49:38.640 --> 49:41.720
The Bible says, and Aaron shall lay both his hands

49:41.720 --> 49:43.520
upon the head of the life goat,

49:43.520 --> 49:46.060
and confess over him all the iniquities

49:46.060 --> 49:47.360
of the children of Israel,

49:47.360 --> 49:50.060
and all their transgressions, and all their sins,

49:50.060 --> 49:52.020
putting them upon the head of the goat,

49:52.020 --> 49:55.300
and then shall send him away by the hand of a fit man

49:55.300 --> 49:59.220
into the wilderness, and the goat shall bear upon him

49:59.220 --> 50:02.780
all their iniquities unto the land not inhabited,

50:02.780 --> 50:06.900
and shall let go of the goat into the wilderness.

50:06.900 --> 50:08.800
So what happens, one goat died,

50:08.800 --> 50:11.300
that's the shedding of blood,

50:11.300 --> 50:14.860
one goat carries away the sins, right?

50:14.860 --> 50:16.500
But it's not just covering the sins,

50:16.500 --> 50:18.300
it's removing the sins.

50:18.300 --> 50:21.480
Jesus didn't just cover us in his blood.

50:21.480 --> 50:24.100
When he covers us, think about the blood as like,

50:24.980 --> 50:27.340
I'm giving you, this is a worldly application,

50:27.340 --> 50:30.100
this is not, but the way that I would liken it is like,

50:30.100 --> 50:32.700
hey, when we get to heaven, God's looking at us,

50:32.700 --> 50:34.360
he sees the blood of Christ,

50:34.360 --> 50:36.260
but also he doesn't see any of the sin.

50:36.260 --> 50:39.180
It's like acid just destroying the sin,

50:39.180 --> 50:41.900
and it just leaves the pure soul, right?

50:41.900 --> 50:43.420
It's like, just disappear.

50:43.420 --> 50:47.660
If you've ever seen things like that, go to Isaiah 53,

50:47.660 --> 50:49.340
go to Isaiah 53, this is where

50:50.980 --> 50:52.940
we wanna spend a little bit of time here,

50:52.980 --> 50:54.900
Isaiah 53, but for the sake of time,

50:54.900 --> 50:56.000
I'll just read for you really quick,

50:56.000 --> 50:57.900
in John 1, verse 29, the Bible says,

50:57.900 --> 51:02.100
Behold, the Lamb of God, which taketh the sin of the world,

51:02.100 --> 51:03.860
taketh away the sin of the world.

51:03.860 --> 51:06.960
John said that about the Lamb of God.

51:06.960 --> 51:10.500
And then, just real quick,

51:10.500 --> 51:15.060
I just wanna focus a little bit on the scapegoat.

51:15.060 --> 51:18.260
By the way, a lot of our modern usage of things,

51:18.260 --> 51:20.700
has ever, anybody's ever heard of scapegoat,

51:20.700 --> 51:21.860
or anything like that?

51:21.900 --> 51:23.660
We get them from the King James.

51:23.660 --> 51:26.520
That's another reason why the King James is so great, right?

51:26.520 --> 51:31.520
So, the sins are placed on the goat,

51:31.540 --> 51:32.980
and he's removing them, right?

51:35.140 --> 51:38.480
It's basically carrying away what you should be carrying.

51:39.500 --> 51:40.840
Right, it bears it.

51:40.840 --> 51:44.140
And so, the Bible says in Psalm 103, verse 12,

51:44.140 --> 51:46.580
as far as the east is from the west,

51:46.580 --> 51:51.580
so far hath he removed our transgressions from us, right?

51:51.860 --> 51:56.500
We have one goat is the shedding of blood,

51:56.500 --> 52:00.160
and then one lives and carries the sins away.

52:00.160 --> 52:01.000
And so, what do you need?

52:01.000 --> 52:05.100
You need both death satisfies God's injustice,

52:05.100 --> 52:07.180
and the scapegoat shows that sin is gone.

52:07.180 --> 52:10.660
Now, in Christ, we get it all, right?

52:10.660 --> 52:13.220
And the Bible tells us that in Isaiah 53,

52:13.220 --> 52:15.040
right there in verse one, the Bible says,

52:15.040 --> 52:16.300
Who hath believed our report?

52:16.300 --> 52:18.980
And this is the longest point,

52:18.980 --> 52:20.420
and then after this, we'll start closing this up,

52:20.420 --> 52:23.260
but Isaiah 53, we'll read this whole thing,

52:23.260 --> 52:24.660
because sometimes we pick it,

52:24.660 --> 52:27.820
but this is one of the clearest prophecies

52:27.820 --> 52:29.700
in the Old Testament of Jesus Christ.

52:29.700 --> 52:31.140
Who hath believed our report,

52:31.140 --> 52:34.500
and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

52:34.500 --> 52:37.700
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,

52:37.700 --> 52:39.460
and as a root out of a dry ground.

52:39.460 --> 52:43.920
He hath no form nor comeliness, and we shall see him.

52:43.920 --> 52:46.660
There's no beauty that we should desire him.

52:46.660 --> 52:49.660
He is despised and rejected of men,

52:49.660 --> 52:53.060
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

52:53.060 --> 52:55.980
And we hid, as it were, in our faces from him.

52:55.980 --> 52:58.900
He was despised, and we esteemed him not.

52:58.900 --> 53:02.020
Notice how it's a we thing, all of us, right?

53:02.020 --> 53:05.560
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows,

53:05.560 --> 53:09.760
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God,

53:09.760 --> 53:11.940
and afflicted, who struck him?

53:11.940 --> 53:13.740
God Almighty, God the Father.

53:14.740 --> 53:17.380
But he was wounded for our transgressions,

53:17.380 --> 53:19.060
he was bruised for our iniquities.

53:19.060 --> 53:21.620
The chastisement of our peace was upon him,

53:21.620 --> 53:24.060
and with his stripes we are healed.

53:24.060 --> 53:26.380
All we like sheep have gone astray,

53:26.380 --> 53:28.940
we have turned everyone to his own way,

53:28.940 --> 53:33.940
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

53:34.580 --> 53:37.460
Sometimes I don't know if we do it just like I hate,

53:37.460 --> 53:41.020
like that sometimes I feel maybe inadequate

53:41.100 --> 53:45.220
trying to just get the person across to understand

53:45.220 --> 53:48.380
that all the sins that we've ever committed,

53:48.380 --> 53:52.380
all the atrocities, all the injustice that we see,

53:52.380 --> 53:54.360
it's all on Jesus Christ.

53:55.340 --> 53:59.860
Like, it's just kind of daunting to think about, right?

53:59.860 --> 54:01.280
You look at that, it says,

54:04.060 --> 54:05.900
he was oppressed and he was afflicted,

54:05.900 --> 54:08.100
verse seven, yet he opened out his mouth,

54:08.100 --> 54:09.820
he is broad as a lamp to slaughter,

54:09.820 --> 54:12.180
and as a sheep before the sheers is dumb,

54:12.180 --> 54:13.820
so he opened out his mouth,

54:13.820 --> 54:16.500
he was taken from prison and from judgment,

54:16.500 --> 54:18.420
and who shall declare his generation?

54:18.420 --> 54:21.660
For he was cut off out of the land of the living,

54:21.660 --> 54:25.060
for the transgressions of my people was he stricken,

54:25.060 --> 54:27.540
and he made his grave with the wicked,

54:27.540 --> 54:28.840
and with the rich in his death,

54:28.840 --> 54:31.220
because he had done no violence,

54:31.220 --> 54:33.580
neither was there any deceit in his mouth.

54:33.580 --> 54:36.780
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him,

54:36.780 --> 54:38.480
he hath put him to grief,

54:38.480 --> 54:41.120
when thou shall make his soul an offering for sin,

54:42.040 --> 54:45.000
he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days,

54:45.000 --> 54:48.000
and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hands,

54:48.000 --> 54:50.160
he shall see of the travail of his soul,

54:50.160 --> 54:52.480
and shall be satisfied by his knowledge,

54:52.480 --> 54:56.160
so my righteous servant justify many,

54:56.160 --> 54:58.080
for he shall bear their iniquities.

54:58.080 --> 55:00.880
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great,

55:00.880 --> 55:03.120
and he shall divide the spoiled with the strong,

55:03.120 --> 55:05.440
because he hath poured out his soul unto death,

55:05.440 --> 55:07.880
and he was numbered with the transgressors,

55:07.880 --> 55:09.920
and he bare the sins of many,

55:09.920 --> 55:14.600
and made intercession for the transgressors.

55:14.600 --> 55:18.440
I mean, it's crazy that he would just,

55:18.440 --> 55:22.980
that agreement between the father and the son was so,

55:24.400 --> 55:25.920
that's why we call it a covenant, right?

55:25.920 --> 55:29.800
It was such a commitment, Jesus was never gonna back out.

55:29.800 --> 55:31.360
You know who also wasn't gonna back out?

55:31.360 --> 55:32.200
God the father.

55:33.240 --> 55:37.080
Like to kill your son so that the rest of the world

55:37.080 --> 55:38.760
wouldn't have to suffer, right?

55:38.760 --> 55:41.120
Second Corinthians five or 17, the Bible says,

55:41.120 --> 55:45.520
therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature,

55:45.520 --> 55:46.800
old things are passed away,

55:46.800 --> 55:48.800
behold all things are become new,

55:48.800 --> 55:50.680
and all things are of God,

55:50.680 --> 55:54.280
who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ,

55:54.280 --> 55:57.560
and hath given us, given to us the ministry of what?

55:57.560 --> 55:58.920
Reconciliation.

55:58.920 --> 56:03.800
We are the bookkeepers, we are the accountants,

56:03.800 --> 56:05.760
to wit that God was in Christ,

56:05.800 --> 56:07.840
reconciling the world unto himself,

56:07.840 --> 56:10.620
not imputing their trespasses unto them,

56:10.620 --> 56:15.040
and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

56:15.040 --> 56:18.220
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,

56:18.220 --> 56:20.280
as though God did beseech you by us,

56:20.280 --> 56:23.760
we pray you in Christ's stead be reconciled to God,

56:23.760 --> 56:26.040
for he hath made him to be sin for us,

56:26.040 --> 56:28.680
who knew no sin that we might be made

56:28.680 --> 56:31.000
the righteousness of God in him.

56:31.000 --> 56:34.340
You know on occasion, I just like see my mortality

56:34.380 --> 56:36.700
a little bit more as I get older,

56:36.700 --> 56:38.740
I was talking to that about brother Jerry,

56:38.740 --> 56:40.740
you know what, I just think to myself,

56:40.740 --> 56:42.060
if I'm an ambassador,

56:42.060 --> 56:44.180
I don't think that God wants to take out the ambassadors,

56:44.180 --> 56:45.900
the thing that gives me peace,

56:45.900 --> 56:48.000
and I'm not saying I'm playing God,

56:48.000 --> 56:50.180
God can take me out anytime he wants,

56:50.180 --> 56:51.860
and even if I'm doing great works for the Lord,

56:51.860 --> 56:54.300
if he decides to take me, amen.

56:54.300 --> 56:56.700
Just let me make that clear, I don't wanna play God.

56:56.700 --> 57:00.580
I'll just say that I believe that when I feel like maybe,

57:00.580 --> 57:03.340
I'm at death's door for some weird reason,

57:03.620 --> 57:05.740
we all get in our own heads at times,

57:05.740 --> 57:07.100
I just come to these verses, I'm like,

57:07.100 --> 57:08.860
well no, I'm doing the work of the Lord,

57:08.860 --> 57:12.100
God needs me in the battle, I wanna be in the battle,

57:12.100 --> 57:13.940
get excited to get in the battle,

57:13.940 --> 57:16.700
and then you'll have a long life, right?

57:18.820 --> 57:19.900
You say, why do you even say that?

57:19.900 --> 57:22.940
Because everybody has a natural fear of dying,

57:22.940 --> 57:24.380
like that's just part of life.

57:26.060 --> 57:28.500
Pastor Cobb and I've had many conversations,

57:28.500 --> 57:33.300
Pastor Cobb is gonna be 90, God willing, in September,

57:34.220 --> 57:35.700
that's something that he struggled with,

57:35.700 --> 57:36.900
and I'm not picking on him, I'm just saying,

57:36.900 --> 57:38.540
we've had these sincere conversations,

57:38.540 --> 57:40.860
he's my friend, he's one of my best friends,

57:40.860 --> 57:43.780
and you think, oh man, you made it this far,

57:43.780 --> 57:45.980
you'd be like the one person who shouldn't worry about it,

57:45.980 --> 57:48.660
but you know what, he's still in the flesh,

57:48.660 --> 57:50.420
we're all in the flesh, this is a battle

57:50.420 --> 57:53.060
that we've gotta deal with on a regular basis,

57:53.060 --> 57:56.520
but Jesus didn't just cover your sin, he carried it away,

57:57.420 --> 57:58.300
he got rid of it.

57:59.180 --> 58:01.660
You know, as good as we are,

58:01.660 --> 58:03.700
we can never be as great as God, right?

58:03.700 --> 58:05.820
I do try to forget the things that my kids have done,

58:05.820 --> 58:08.460
but on occasion, I just remember,

58:08.460 --> 58:11.740
and then I get frustrated, and then I remember,

58:11.740 --> 58:15.160
I need to move on, but you know, God,

58:15.160 --> 58:18.360
he doesn't remember at all, he just moved on.

58:19.900 --> 58:20.900
Let's go to the last few points,

58:20.900 --> 58:22.260
and then we'll cover this thing up.

58:22.260 --> 58:24.860
Go back to Leviticus, now we're in Leviticus 17,

58:24.860 --> 58:29.860
and we have the principle of the blood, right?

58:30.260 --> 58:32.600
But in order for us to get the principle,

58:32.600 --> 58:35.060
we first have to get the ceremony.

58:35.060 --> 58:36.380
What's the ceremony picture?

58:36.380 --> 58:39.100
It pictures Jesus Christ, he's the mediator.

58:39.100 --> 58:40.540
He's the only one that does,

58:40.540 --> 58:42.900
notice he doesn't have to cleanse himself,

58:42.900 --> 58:47.260
he's righteous, who knew no sin, he died for us, right?

58:47.260 --> 58:51.020
And why it's important to go through the Old Testament

58:51.020 --> 58:52.220
is because the book of Hebrews,

58:52.220 --> 58:53.800
we're gonna talk about it here a little bit,

58:53.800 --> 58:57.600
but it constantly reminds us, hey, all of this was made

58:57.600 --> 59:00.240
so that you would understand things in the modern day,

59:00.240 --> 59:03.060
right, these things had to happen the way they did,

59:03.060 --> 59:05.880
because that's how it's explained,

59:05.880 --> 59:09.020
and that's how we understand how easy it is to get saved.

59:09.960 --> 59:10.800
You know, as a matter of fact,

59:10.800 --> 59:11.960
you read through the Old Testament,

59:11.960 --> 59:14.400
you're like, man, this is a daunting exercise.

59:14.400 --> 59:16.640
This flame needs to be on forever,

59:16.640 --> 59:19.480
and you need to do this daily, and you need to do all,

59:19.480 --> 59:21.180
thank God we don't have to do all that.

59:21.180 --> 59:24.420
You know, we should, God requires daily prayer,

59:24.420 --> 59:26.700
God requires daily Bible reading,

59:26.700 --> 59:29.140
God requires daily sanctification,

59:29.140 --> 59:31.300
God requires daily renewing of the mind,

59:31.300 --> 59:33.060
and let me ask you a question you don't have to answer,

59:33.060 --> 59:35.240
this is very rhetorical, please don't answer.

59:35.240 --> 59:37.420
How many of you do that daily?

59:38.360 --> 59:43.120
You don't, because I know, because we're all gonna fail,

59:43.120 --> 59:44.960
and you know, thank God that his mercy

59:44.960 --> 59:46.300
and he's long-suffering towards it,

59:46.300 --> 59:49.540
and that he lets us, you know, get away with it,

59:49.540 --> 59:51.280
and then come back and fix it.

59:52.260 --> 59:54.880
Now, let me fix that, he doesn't let us get away with it,

59:54.880 --> 59:56.900
like, we're not gonna get, he's gonna chastise us,

59:56.900 --> 59:59.380
but he's not gonna like strike us down

59:59.380 --> 01:00:01.340
like he did in the Old Testament.

01:00:01.340 --> 01:00:04.180
He's very long-suffering, he gives us a lot of grace,

01:00:04.180 --> 01:00:07.620
a lot of mercy, go to Hebrews 9, write down verse 23.

01:00:07.620 --> 01:00:09.620
The Bible says, it was therefore necessary

01:00:09.620 --> 01:00:11.020
that the pattern of things in the heavens

01:00:11.020 --> 01:00:13.940
should be purified with these,

01:00:13.940 --> 01:00:15.860
but the heavenly things themselves,

01:00:15.860 --> 01:00:17.300
with better sacrifices than these,

01:00:17.300 --> 01:00:19.100
for Christ is not entered to the holy places

01:00:19.260 --> 01:00:22.540
with hands, which are the figures of the truth,

01:00:22.540 --> 01:00:24.340
but into heaven itself,

01:00:24.340 --> 01:00:26.420
now to appear in the presence of God for us.

01:00:26.420 --> 01:00:28.420
So this is how we know that he laid the blood

01:00:28.420 --> 01:00:29.860
on the mercy seat.

01:00:29.860 --> 01:00:31.300
You know, people argue that,

01:00:32.580 --> 01:00:35.860
I mean, that's exactly what that was a picture of,

01:00:35.860 --> 01:00:37.340
what was happening in heaven.

01:00:37.340 --> 01:00:40.500
Nor yet, that he should offer himself often,

01:00:40.500 --> 01:00:43.620
as the high priest enters into holy praise every year,

01:00:43.620 --> 01:00:44.980
with blood of others,

01:00:44.980 --> 01:00:46.620
for then must he often have suffered

01:00:46.620 --> 01:00:48.340
since the foundation of the world,

01:00:49.620 --> 01:00:51.340
and that's why, you know,

01:00:51.340 --> 01:00:52.220
you know where I learned this from?

01:00:52.220 --> 01:00:54.820
Pastor Cobb, I love all the lessons I've learned.

01:00:54.820 --> 01:00:57.100
Pastor Cobb hates the crucifix,

01:00:58.100 --> 01:01:00.700
because Jesus is still hanging on that cross.

01:01:00.700 --> 01:01:02.020
They're sacrificing him daily,

01:01:02.020 --> 01:01:04.340
that's what it signifies.

01:01:04.340 --> 01:01:05.820
But here it says,

01:01:05.820 --> 01:01:07.420
for then he must have suffered

01:01:07.420 --> 01:01:08.940
since the foundation of the world,

01:01:08.940 --> 01:01:10.540
but now once in the end of the world

01:01:10.540 --> 01:01:12.420
hath he appeared to put away sin

01:01:12.420 --> 01:01:14.140
by the sacrifice himself,

01:01:14.140 --> 01:01:16.300
and is it a point unto man to die,

01:01:16.300 --> 01:01:19.020
once to die, but after this judgment.

01:01:19.940 --> 01:01:23.580
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many,

01:01:23.580 --> 01:01:25.300
and unto them that looked for him

01:01:25.300 --> 01:01:27.300
shall he appear the second time,

01:01:27.300 --> 01:01:29.820
without sin, unto salvation.

01:01:32.220 --> 01:01:33.540
First Peter one, verse 18,

01:01:33.540 --> 01:01:34.700
the Bible says, for as much as you know

01:01:34.700 --> 01:01:39.100
that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, right?

01:01:39.100 --> 01:01:39.940
And later on it says,

01:01:39.940 --> 01:01:41.900
but with the precious blood of Christ

01:01:41.900 --> 01:01:44.900
as a lamb without blemish, without spot.

01:01:44.900 --> 01:01:45.740
And we know these verses,

01:01:45.740 --> 01:01:48.500
for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,

01:01:48.540 --> 01:01:50.180
being justified freely by his grace

01:01:50.180 --> 01:01:52.940
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

01:01:52.940 --> 01:01:57.060
whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation

01:01:57.060 --> 01:01:59.020
through faith in his blood,

01:01:59.020 --> 01:02:00.300
to declare his righteousness

01:02:00.300 --> 01:02:02.540
for the remission of sins that are past

01:02:02.540 --> 01:02:05.260
through the forbearance of God.

01:02:05.260 --> 01:02:07.300
Hey, without Christ there's no salvation.

01:02:08.220 --> 01:02:10.780
Go to Leviticus 17, right there in verse three.

01:02:13.660 --> 01:02:16.700
In verse three, we see that it says,

01:02:16.700 --> 01:02:19.340
whatsoever there be of the house of Israel,

01:02:19.340 --> 01:02:21.540
that killeth an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp,

01:02:21.540 --> 01:02:23.260
or that killeth it out of the camp,

01:02:23.260 --> 01:02:24.940
and bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle

01:02:24.940 --> 01:02:27.700
of the congregation to offer an offering unto the Lord,

01:02:27.700 --> 01:02:29.340
before the tabernacle of the Lord,

01:02:29.340 --> 01:02:31.100
blood shall be imputed unto that man,

01:02:31.100 --> 01:02:32.540
he that shed blood,

01:02:32.540 --> 01:02:35.580
and that man shall be cut off from among his people.

01:02:35.580 --> 01:02:38.260
Hey, this is an exclusive thing.

01:02:38.260 --> 01:02:41.540
There is no other way, right?

01:02:41.540 --> 01:02:43.500
If you try to do it any other way,

01:02:43.500 --> 01:02:45.100
the Bible says you're cut off.

01:02:45.140 --> 01:02:49.020
Hey, if you try to add works to salvation, you're cut off.

01:02:49.020 --> 01:02:53.540
If you try to add anything, you're cut off.

01:02:53.540 --> 01:02:57.020
It's funny, I have one clip that, again,

01:02:57.020 --> 01:03:00.460
it feels like the most mundane clips for us, right?

01:03:00.460 --> 01:03:02.460
Like the most basic stuff.

01:03:02.460 --> 01:03:03.900
I'm just talking about being saved by grace,

01:03:03.900 --> 01:03:05.540
and then I start talking about the Jews,

01:03:05.540 --> 01:03:07.460
and everybody's beating me up on it,

01:03:07.460 --> 01:03:08.860
because they're like, it's not just,

01:03:08.860 --> 01:03:11.940
you can't just have faith if you don't change,

01:03:11.940 --> 01:03:14.220
if you don't do this, if you don't get baptized.

01:03:14.220 --> 01:03:15.700
Guys, you're missing the point.

01:03:16.580 --> 01:03:19.580
If we have to do all of that, we're losing.

01:03:19.580 --> 01:03:22.300
John 14, I love these verses.

01:03:22.300 --> 01:03:24.380
We're gonna get to verse six, but in John 14,

01:03:24.380 --> 01:03:27.140
and verse one says, let not your heart be troubled.

01:03:27.140 --> 01:03:29.500
You believe in God, believe also in me.

01:03:29.500 --> 01:03:31.700
In my Father's house are many mansions.

01:03:31.700 --> 01:03:33.540
If it were not so, I would have told you,

01:03:33.540 --> 01:03:35.180
I go to prepare a place for you,

01:03:35.180 --> 01:03:37.460
and if I go to prepare a place for you,

01:03:37.460 --> 01:03:40.460
I will come again and receive you unto myself,

01:03:40.460 --> 01:03:43.180
that where I am, there you may be also.

01:03:43.220 --> 01:03:47.020
And whether I go, ye know, and the way we know.

01:03:47.020 --> 01:03:49.220
And then verse six said, Jesus saith unto him,

01:03:49.220 --> 01:03:50.260
I am the way, the truth, and the life.

01:03:50.260 --> 01:03:53.140
No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

01:03:53.140 --> 01:03:58.140
If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also,

01:03:59.040 --> 01:04:02.620
and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

01:04:02.620 --> 01:04:04.140
Hey, by the way, in the Old Testament,

01:04:04.140 --> 01:04:07.060
they knew of this trinity, right?

01:04:07.060 --> 01:04:09.020
They understood this.

01:04:09.020 --> 01:04:10.900
They understood these things.

01:04:10.900 --> 01:04:13.820
You say, did they really just read the book of Hebrews,

01:04:13.820 --> 01:04:17.340
verse chapter 11, they constantly are referencing Christ,

01:04:17.340 --> 01:04:19.100
right, the Old Testament prophets.

01:04:19.100 --> 01:04:21.460
This is an important relationship,

01:04:21.460 --> 01:04:24.860
and that's why we wanna clear this thing up more and more,

01:04:24.860 --> 01:04:28.940
because Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven,

01:04:28.940 --> 01:04:30.700
because I had this lady today,

01:04:30.700 --> 01:04:32.540
one of the people, I don't remember who,

01:04:32.540 --> 01:04:33.660
she's like, oh, well, you get to heaven

01:04:33.660 --> 01:04:35.500
because of God the Father, God the Son,

01:04:35.500 --> 01:04:37.020
and God the Holy Spirit.

01:04:37.020 --> 01:04:39.780
I was like, no, you get to heaven because of Jesus Christ.

01:04:40.780 --> 01:04:44.260
They're all important, but they've all made it clear

01:04:44.260 --> 01:04:47.020
in their word that Jesus is the most important

01:04:47.020 --> 01:04:48.260
for us, for humanity.

01:04:49.660 --> 01:04:51.020
First Corinthians 3, verse 11 says,

01:04:51.020 --> 01:04:52.780
for other foundation can no man lay that is laid,

01:04:52.780 --> 01:04:55.060
which is Christ Jesus.

01:04:55.060 --> 01:04:58.580
Let's go to our final points.

01:05:03.060 --> 01:05:05.020
So we see here, in closing,

01:05:05.020 --> 01:05:07.700
because basically I'm just gonna repeat a little bit,

01:05:07.740 --> 01:05:11.860
but in closing, in Leviticus 16, we have the atonement,

01:05:11.860 --> 01:05:13.980
in Leviticus 17, we have blood,

01:05:13.980 --> 01:05:16.140
and then immediately we go into what?

01:05:16.140 --> 01:05:18.900
18, 19, and 20 is talking about living holy, right?

01:05:18.900 --> 01:05:20.460
We're gonna see those things.

01:05:20.460 --> 01:05:22.900
We're gonna talk about how we need to deal with our neighbors,

01:05:22.900 --> 01:05:25.100
how we need to cleanse ourselves from people

01:05:25.100 --> 01:05:26.700
that are doing things that are abominable,

01:05:26.700 --> 01:05:30.100
what's worthy of death, we'll talk about those things.

01:05:30.100 --> 01:05:33.340
And so we need to do all that,

01:05:33.340 --> 01:05:35.580
but that has nothing to do with the cleansing,

01:05:35.580 --> 01:05:37.580
with the mediation, right?

01:05:38.460 --> 01:05:40.060
That is just so that we have a better life.

01:05:40.060 --> 01:05:43.940
I often tell people that the reason we wanna serve God

01:05:43.940 --> 01:05:45.740
is for the rewards and the blessings,

01:05:45.740 --> 01:05:47.420
but you know what also I need to add?

01:05:47.420 --> 01:05:51.580
It's also for just the cleanliness, the sanctification,

01:05:51.580 --> 01:05:55.180
the purity, and the protection of God in our lives.

01:05:56.660 --> 01:05:59.380
Sometimes, because oftentimes we think of blessings

01:05:59.380 --> 01:06:04.380
or recompense as maybe a monetary thing,

01:06:04.380 --> 01:06:07.460
or some tangible thing,

01:06:08.340 --> 01:06:11.620
but it's the intangibles that matter the most, right?

01:06:11.620 --> 01:06:13.260
They tell you in business,

01:06:13.260 --> 01:06:16.260
it's harder to sell something that's intangible,

01:06:16.260 --> 01:06:17.620
but it's worth much more.

01:06:17.620 --> 01:06:20.780
You can collect more money for an intangible idea

01:06:20.780 --> 01:06:22.420
than you can for something tangible.

01:06:22.420 --> 01:06:25.300
Like this phone, the iPhone,

01:06:25.300 --> 01:06:28.660
when you go buy it, it's worth whatever it's worth at the time,

01:06:28.660 --> 01:06:32.220
$1,000, $1,500, but Apple itself,

01:06:32.220 --> 01:06:34.540
the company, it's worth billions

01:06:34.540 --> 01:06:37.500
because people are buying into the idea of change, right?

01:06:37.500 --> 01:06:39.860
Or whatever, they're making something better.

01:06:39.860 --> 01:06:41.660
Well, what's the idea here?

01:06:41.660 --> 01:06:44.020
The intangible is not only you believe on Christ,

01:06:44.020 --> 01:06:46.620
but if you believe the other things,

01:06:46.620 --> 01:06:49.540
then the things you don't see, God's doing for you.

01:06:49.540 --> 01:06:53.460
Like oftentimes, if there's an accident,

01:06:53.460 --> 01:06:55.580
my wife will say, we're late somewhere.

01:06:55.580 --> 01:06:56.980
My wife's the one that usually mentions it.

01:06:56.980 --> 01:06:59.140
She's like, maybe God's protecting us from something.

01:06:59.140 --> 01:07:00.420
I believe that.

01:07:00.420 --> 01:07:01.420
I'm not saying that's all the time.

01:07:01.420 --> 01:07:02.380
By the way, I don't play God.

01:07:02.380 --> 01:07:05.020
I'm just saying that is a true possibility

01:07:05.020 --> 01:07:07.340
because we're trying to live righteously for God.

01:07:07.340 --> 01:07:09.260
The things that we don't see that are happening

01:07:09.260 --> 01:07:12.860
behind the scenes, God's doing for us, right?

01:07:12.860 --> 01:07:15.060
The things that nobody's paying attention to.

01:07:16.460 --> 01:07:21.020
And then go over to Romans 10.

01:07:21.020 --> 01:07:21.860
Go to Romans 10.

01:07:21.860 --> 01:07:24.260
I'll read for you really quick in Galatians.

01:07:25.900 --> 01:07:27.420
But in Romans 6, verse 1, it says,

01:07:27.420 --> 01:07:28.260
what should we say then?

01:07:28.300 --> 01:07:31.580
Should we continue in sin that grace may abound?

01:07:31.580 --> 01:07:33.660
God forbid, right?

01:07:35.500 --> 01:07:40.300
The warning is that morality without the atonement

01:07:40.300 --> 01:07:41.140
will always fail.

01:07:43.260 --> 01:07:45.100
That's really what we're gonna close out.

01:07:45.100 --> 01:07:47.180
If you look at the Old Testament,

01:07:47.180 --> 01:07:50.660
whenever they did things without God, failure.

01:07:50.660 --> 01:07:53.340
In the New Testament, there's two ways to fail.

01:07:53.340 --> 01:07:55.060
Number one is obviously if you don't have Christ,

01:07:55.060 --> 01:07:57.860
you're just gonna fail in an eternal concept.

01:07:58.380 --> 01:08:01.260
Once you have Christ, you can still fail

01:08:01.260 --> 01:08:03.820
if you don't apply the things of God in your life.

01:08:05.260 --> 01:08:07.780
And things of God sometimes are difficult, right?

01:08:07.780 --> 01:08:09.940
Being here right now, I'm looking out

01:08:09.940 --> 01:08:12.260
and I'm not picking on anybody because I'm not.

01:08:12.260 --> 01:08:13.860
It's 4.30.

01:08:13.860 --> 01:08:16.700
We just now starting to get into the hot season.

01:08:16.700 --> 01:08:18.460
So the first few times we go soul-winding

01:08:18.460 --> 01:08:21.060
after it's been nice and that heat hit,

01:08:21.060 --> 01:08:23.300
I'm looking at you because I'm feeling the same way.

01:08:23.300 --> 01:08:24.660
I'm tired, right?

01:08:24.660 --> 01:08:27.020
I gotta get myself pumped up and jacked up

01:08:27.340 --> 01:08:29.500
to preach in the afternoon.

01:08:29.500 --> 01:08:32.380
It's a hard thing to do, but we do it

01:08:32.380 --> 01:08:34.500
because we know God's gonna take care of us, right?

01:08:34.500 --> 01:08:36.860
We know that these are the things that we need to do.

01:08:36.860 --> 01:08:39.500
And sometimes we do it, obviously understanding

01:08:39.500 --> 01:08:40.540
the spiritual obligations.

01:08:40.540 --> 01:08:42.700
Other times we do it just because we know

01:08:42.700 --> 01:08:43.900
maybe I don't quite get it,

01:08:43.900 --> 01:08:45.820
but I'm just gonna do it anyway.

01:08:45.820 --> 01:08:48.180
This is the things that God required.

01:08:48.180 --> 01:08:50.940
But you can't do it until you're first reconciled

01:08:50.940 --> 01:08:52.060
by Jesus Christ.

01:08:52.060 --> 01:08:53.740
Otherwise, you're just wasting your time.

01:08:53.740 --> 01:08:56.660
The example we give, hey, this person

01:08:56.700 --> 01:08:59.660
goes to church and pays their tithes,

01:08:59.660 --> 01:09:02.580
reads their Bible, and does all the good things,

01:09:02.580 --> 01:09:04.660
but they've never believed on Christ

01:09:04.660 --> 01:09:06.260
when they die, where are they going?

01:09:06.260 --> 01:09:08.540
And people usually answer it after you get it right,

01:09:08.540 --> 01:09:09.780
you're going to hell.

01:09:09.780 --> 01:09:11.780
Don't show up to church

01:09:11.780 --> 01:09:13.100
because you think it's gonna do something good for you.

01:09:13.100 --> 01:09:14.340
Just show up to church because that's

01:09:14.340 --> 01:09:16.180
what God requires of you.

01:09:16.180 --> 01:09:17.460
It'll come.

01:09:17.460 --> 01:09:19.380
God will bless, but we need to do it

01:09:19.380 --> 01:09:20.460
for the right reasons, right?

01:09:20.460 --> 01:09:22.460
That's the warning is the warning is we just need

01:09:22.460 --> 01:09:25.620
to serve the Lord Jesus Christ even when we don't want to.

01:09:25.620 --> 01:09:27.380
Hey, when the pastor's boring,

01:09:27.380 --> 01:09:28.860
when the pastor goes overtime,

01:09:28.860 --> 01:09:30.060
I'm looking at the time, I'm almost,

01:09:30.060 --> 01:09:31.260
I should be done.

01:09:31.260 --> 01:09:32.660
But you know, or when, you know,

01:09:32.660 --> 01:09:35.020
whatever the challenge is, just keep showing up.

01:09:37.540 --> 01:09:38.380
Where do I have you turn?

01:09:38.380 --> 01:09:40.420
Matthew, Romans, which one, Romans, right?

01:09:40.420 --> 01:09:42.020
But in Galatians 2 verse 16, the Bible says,

01:09:42.020 --> 01:09:45.060
knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law,

01:09:45.060 --> 01:09:46.820
but by the faith of Jesus Christ.

01:09:46.820 --> 01:09:48.580
In Romans 10 verse three, the Bible says,

01:09:48.580 --> 01:09:51.780
for they being ignorant of God's righteousness

01:09:51.780 --> 01:09:54.460
and going about to establish their own righteousness,

01:09:54.460 --> 01:09:58.740
have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

01:10:00.020 --> 01:10:02.180
But we were, I was on a kick last year, but you know what?

01:10:02.180 --> 01:10:04.940
I might as well just keep adding to that,

01:10:04.940 --> 01:10:07.260
that we have a submission problem in the world.

01:10:08.380 --> 01:10:11.260
If you're saved, well, you submit it to God

01:10:12.220 --> 01:10:14.580
as far as what salvation looks like.

01:10:14.580 --> 01:10:17.460
But now you got to submit to everything else.

01:10:17.460 --> 01:10:20.780
There's only one way to do anything period.

01:10:20.780 --> 01:10:24.100
It's God's way, right?

01:10:24.100 --> 01:10:26.060
It really is God's way or the highway.

01:10:27.060 --> 01:10:29.700
And I know you don't have all the answers, neither do I,

01:10:29.700 --> 01:10:33.700
but man, God knows if you're trying to do it his way, right?

01:10:33.700 --> 01:10:37.300
Don't be like Uzziah this morning when we're talking about,

01:10:37.300 --> 01:10:40.540
he's doing it God's way and it says that God was with him

01:10:40.540 --> 01:10:43.260
and God enlarged him and God blessed him.

01:10:43.260 --> 01:10:45.260
And then he's like, nah, I'm going to do it my way.

01:10:47.340 --> 01:10:50.820
Baptist churches, think about, we call them the old IFB

01:10:50.860 --> 01:10:54.660
because they got old and they got away from God.

01:10:55.860 --> 01:10:57.620
Look, there's nothing wrong with getting old,

01:10:57.620 --> 01:11:00.940
but it is wrong to get old and then just get away from God.

01:11:00.940 --> 01:11:04.300
Oh, this newer generation, they're educated,

01:11:04.300 --> 01:11:07.520
they go to college, so they just know all the ways,

01:11:07.520 --> 01:11:09.020
they know better ways.

01:11:09.020 --> 01:11:11.380
So let's just try it out.

01:11:11.380 --> 01:11:14.480
Hey, soul winning still works in 2026.

01:11:14.480 --> 01:11:16.220
We just got 10 souls won,

01:11:16.220 --> 01:11:20.500
so apparently God knows what he's doing, right?

01:11:20.940 --> 01:11:25.700
Hey, I've been serving here since 2013

01:11:25.700 --> 01:11:28.700
through good numbers and bad numbers

01:11:28.700 --> 01:11:30.420
and the church is still going.

01:11:30.420 --> 01:11:34.020
So you know what, tells me God gives the increase in 2026.

01:11:34.020 --> 01:11:36.100
It still works, right?

01:11:37.540 --> 01:11:38.780
I'm not going to worry about it.

01:11:38.780 --> 01:11:41.120
You know what's going to happen in a couple of years?

01:11:41.120 --> 01:11:43.700
We might even fluctuate down before we fluctuate up again.

01:11:43.700 --> 01:11:44.820
It's just part of life.

01:11:46.580 --> 01:11:48.740
Anytime that you preach hard, you're going to,

01:11:48.780 --> 01:11:49.980
even the people that are like,

01:11:49.980 --> 01:11:52.140
oh, I love all the hard preaching.

01:11:52.140 --> 01:11:54.020
Eventually you'll preach something that's hard on them

01:11:54.020 --> 01:11:55.380
and then they're like, I don't know if I like it

01:11:55.380 --> 01:11:58.340
or if I just end up walking away.

01:11:58.340 --> 01:12:01.260
Whatever, in 10 years, as long as God gives me life,

01:12:01.260 --> 01:12:02.780
I'll still be here.

01:12:02.780 --> 01:12:05.620
Well, you, that's really what we need to look at

01:12:05.620 --> 01:12:07.420
and why do you, why do you say,

01:12:07.420 --> 01:12:08.880
why are you even talking like this?

01:12:08.880 --> 01:12:10.340
Well, because at the end of the day,

01:12:10.340 --> 01:12:13.100
if you understand this, you're in it for the long haul

01:12:14.380 --> 01:12:16.380
and I guess really this is my sermon, right?

01:12:16.460 --> 01:12:18.360
But if you understand this,

01:12:18.360 --> 01:12:20.780
this has the words that are in here, right?

01:12:20.780 --> 01:12:21.980
I just sparse that.

01:12:21.980 --> 01:12:24.020
But if you understand this, you're in it for the long haul.

01:12:24.020 --> 01:12:27.020
If you don't understand this, then get the understanding

01:12:27.020 --> 01:12:28.820
so you're in it for the long haul.

01:12:28.820 --> 01:12:31.380
And if you refuse to do it, then you're just stubborn

01:12:31.380 --> 01:12:33.460
and just read the first five books of the Bible

01:12:33.460 --> 01:12:34.880
like the Jews like to do

01:12:34.880 --> 01:12:37.860
and then just like not realize that it's talking about you.

01:12:37.860 --> 01:12:38.840
You're going to get beat up.

01:12:38.840 --> 01:12:40.620
So anyways, let's close in a word of prayer.

01:12:40.620 --> 01:12:43.300
Heavenly Father, Lord, thank you so much for today.

01:12:43.300 --> 01:12:44.720
Thank you for your blessings.

01:12:44.720 --> 01:12:47.600
Man, thank you for the 10 souls that were one today, Lord.

01:12:47.600 --> 01:12:50.520
Thank you for all the faithful soul winners.

01:12:50.520 --> 01:12:52.160
Everybody that just comes out.

01:12:52.160 --> 01:12:56.640
This is not the work of one man, one family.

01:12:56.640 --> 01:13:00.000
It's a group of people that have submitted themselves

01:13:00.000 --> 01:13:04.840
to you have obeyed and believed things that are in the word

01:13:04.840 --> 01:13:09.320
and are willing to sacrifice their own selfish needs

01:13:09.320 --> 01:13:12.160
to serve a living God, Lord.

01:13:12.320 --> 01:13:14.080
We just appreciate the opportunity

01:13:14.080 --> 01:13:16.520
to be ambassadors for Christ

01:13:16.520 --> 01:13:20.600
that we can go out there and shine a light in dark world.

01:13:20.600 --> 01:13:24.660
Lord, thank you so much for all the blessings

01:13:24.660 --> 01:13:27.080
and also all the difficult situations,

01:13:27.080 --> 01:13:30.040
the things that teach us how to deal with life better.

01:13:30.040 --> 01:13:31.560
In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

01:13:31.560 --> 01:13:34.640
Let's turn our handbills over to page 173.

01:13:34.640 --> 01:13:36.400
173.

01:13:42.160 --> 01:13:47.160
You can go mama, I got, I'm almost there.

01:13:52.720 --> 01:13:54.120
173.

01:13:54.120 --> 01:13:55.240
Love lifted me.

01:14:03.640 --> 01:14:08.640
I was taken deep in sin, far from the people's shore.

01:14:09.640 --> 01:14:14.640
Been these days in Christ's hall more.

01:14:15.880 --> 01:14:20.880
But the master of the deep heard my staring cry.

01:14:21.800 --> 01:14:22.960
From the wall.

01:14:24.960 --> 01:14:26.720
Have I loved the deep?

01:14:30.400 --> 01:14:35.400
Love lifted me when nothing else could help me.

01:14:39.640 --> 01:14:40.880
Love lifted me.

01:14:42.360 --> 01:14:46.320
Love lifted me when nothing else could help me.

01:14:53.800 --> 01:14:56.520
All my heart to him I give.

01:14:59.640 --> 01:15:03.600
In his blessed breath lived every creature.

01:15:04.600 --> 01:15:08.000
Love so mighty and so true,

01:15:08.000 --> 01:15:10.000
buried my soul but not.

01:15:19.440 --> 01:15:24.440
Love lifted me when nothing else could help me.

01:15:28.440 --> 01:15:29.680
Love lifted me.

01:15:34.040 --> 01:15:39.040
Love lifted me when nothing else could help me.

01:15:42.440 --> 01:15:46.720
Oh the danger look above Jesus' coming,

01:15:46.720 --> 01:15:48.280
he's second to me.

01:15:48.280 --> 01:15:51.120
He was lifted through by his love.

01:15:54.160 --> 01:15:56.920
He's the master of the sea,

01:15:56.920 --> 01:15:59.400
billows and waves away.

01:16:00.400 --> 01:16:03.400
See, he's second to me, saved.

01:16:17.400 --> 01:16:18.560
Love lifted me.

01:16:19.520 --> 01:16:20.840
Love lifted me.

01:16:25.320 --> 01:16:26.640
Love lifted me.

01:16:29.400 --> 01:16:31.480
Love lifted me.
