WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:25.840
billionaire

01:55.840 --> 02:16.400
started with our evening service. If you would grab a hymnal and turn to number 121, like

02:16.400 --> 02:35.960
a river glorious? Hymn number 121, 1, 2, 1, like a river glorious. 121 right there on

02:35.960 --> 02:53.960
the first. Like a river glorious, this God's perfect peace. Over all victorious,

02:53.960 --> 03:20.960
with its bright and green. Perfect can it grow and fuller every day. Perfect can it grow and deeper all the way.

03:20.960 --> 03:42.960
Strayed upon Jehovah, arms are fully blest. Binding as he promised, perfectly set rest.

03:42.960 --> 04:04.960
Hidden in the home of his blessed hand. Never broken, never betrayed, never spared.

04:04.960 --> 04:26.960
God of surge of fury, God of shape of hair. God of blast of fury, touch the spirit there.

04:26.960 --> 04:48.960
Strayed upon Jehovah, arms are fully blest. Binding as he promised, perfectly set rest.

04:48.960 --> 05:10.960
Every joy or trial, all in from above. Strayed upon our God, oh, by the Son of God.

05:10.960 --> 05:32.960
We may trust him fully, all for us to do. May we trust him fully, like him holding true.

05:32.960 --> 05:54.960
Strayed upon Jehovah, arms are fully blest. Binding as he promised, perfectly set rest.

05:54.960 --> 06:01.960
Amen. At this time we'll open with a word of prayer. Bow your heads with me. Heavenly Father, we just thank you for this day,

06:01.960 --> 06:06.960
for this opportunity to gather together to hear preaching in your name and to sing praises unto you.

06:06.960 --> 06:12.960
I pray that you would be with the seeds that were planted this evening, that you would be with the service this evening also,

06:12.960 --> 06:16.960
that everything would be done decently and in order and that you would open our hearts to the message.

06:16.960 --> 06:19.960
These things we pray in Jesus' name, amen.

06:19.960 --> 06:34.960
For our next hymn, number 245. 245, the old account was settled.

06:34.960 --> 06:38.960
245, we'll sing there starting on the 1st.

07:04.960 --> 07:14.960
On the 1st, the old account was settled.

07:14.960 --> 07:20.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

07:20.960 --> 07:30.960
When the old account was settled, on the 1st, the old account was far.

07:30.960 --> 07:39.960
And growing every day, for I was always singing and never tried to play.

07:39.960 --> 07:48.960
But when I looked ahead and saw such pain and woe, I said that I would settle.

07:48.960 --> 07:57.960
I settled long ago, long ago, long ago.

07:57.960 --> 08:02.960
And the old account was settled on the 1st.

08:02.960 --> 08:08.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

08:08.960 --> 08:15.960
When the old account was settled on the 1st.

08:15.960 --> 08:21.960
And in that happy home, my Savior's home above,

08:21.960 --> 08:27.960
I'll sing with him to joy and praise him for his love.

08:27.960 --> 08:33.960
I've gone through thick and thin with nature's light and soul,

08:33.960 --> 08:45.960
Because I came and settled and settled long ago, long ago, long ago.

08:45.960 --> 08:51.960
Yes, the old account was settled on the 1st.

08:51.960 --> 08:57.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

08:57.960 --> 09:04.960
When the old account was settled on the 1st.

09:04.960 --> 09:10.960
Oh, seer, trust the Lord, be cleansed of all your sin,

09:10.960 --> 09:16.960
For thus He hath provided for you to enter in.

09:16.960 --> 09:22.960
And then if you should live a hundred years below,

09:22.960 --> 09:25.960
The burial ground regretted.

09:25.960 --> 09:34.960
We've settled long ago, long ago, long ago.

09:34.960 --> 09:39.960
Yes, the old account was settled on the 1st.

09:39.960 --> 09:45.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

09:45.960 --> 09:52.960
When the old account was settled on the 1st.

10:09.960 --> 10:15.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

10:15.960 --> 10:21.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

10:21.960 --> 10:27.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

10:27.960 --> 10:33.960
And the record's clear today, glory washed by sins away.

10:33.960 --> 10:37.960
Thank you, Zach.

10:37.960 --> 10:40.960
Already beat our year-to-date church total in one day in the Philippines,

10:40.960 --> 10:42.960
so praise God for that.

10:42.960 --> 10:44.960
It's great work already being done over there,

10:44.960 --> 10:48.960
so make sure you keep him and Brother Zach in your prayers.

10:48.960 --> 10:51.960
Then if you'll flip over to the back,

10:51.960 --> 10:54.960
we have our upcoming events listed there.

10:54.960 --> 10:58.960
Remember that we have our soul-winding marathon in Tulsa, Oklahoma,

10:58.960 --> 11:00.960
at noon this Saturday,

11:00.960 --> 11:03.960
at that apartment complex, but that's going to be from 12 to 4,

11:03.960 --> 11:06.960
and then we'll have a meal together afterwards.

11:06.960 --> 11:09.960
Then the next day is the men's preaching night for the evening service.

11:09.960 --> 11:13.960
There is a sign-up sheet in the back if you would like to sign up for that.

11:13.960 --> 11:17.960
March 28 is going to be our listeners' pick soul-winding marathon,

11:17.960 --> 11:21.960
where we're sending Brother Hall to a city in America

11:21.960 --> 11:24.960
that needs basically some organized soul-winding.

11:24.960 --> 11:26.960
We sent out the call just saying,

11:26.960 --> 11:29.960
If you're a listener, fan of new IFB preaching,

11:29.960 --> 11:31.960
and you'd like us to come to your city and do a soul-winding marathon,

11:31.960 --> 11:32.960
reach out.

11:32.960 --> 11:35.960
We've already had lots and lots of cities reach out,

11:35.960 --> 11:38.960
and there's definitely a clear city in the lead right now,

11:38.960 --> 11:42.960
but that won't be decided until March 14 at 12 o'clock p.m.

11:42.960 --> 11:45.960
Then we have April 1 is the Lord's Supper service.

11:45.960 --> 11:49.960
April 4 will be a local soul-winding marathon here in Oklahoma City,

11:49.960 --> 11:51.960
as we always do for Easter weekend,

11:51.960 --> 11:55.960
definitely a great time to preach the gospel and invite people to church.

11:55.960 --> 12:00.960
April 25, there is going to be a ladies' fellowship event.

12:00.960 --> 12:05.960
It hasn't been planned out yet, but there is a date chosen for that on April 25.

12:05.960 --> 12:11.960
May 2, Oklahoma State University soul-winding marathon in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

12:11.960 --> 12:15.960
And so that's our college soul-winding program we're going to try there.

12:15.960 --> 12:17.960
May 9 will be Mother's Day tea.

12:17.960 --> 12:23.960
May 20 through the 24 will be the anti-Israel conference at St. Bass Baptist Church.

12:23.960 --> 12:29.960
And then June 17 through the 20th will be the Germany soul-winding conference in Frankfurt.

12:29.960 --> 12:31.960
There's a whole bunch of other events I have planned for the year,

12:31.960 --> 12:34.960
but that's going to fill our bulletin for the time being,

12:34.960 --> 12:36.960
and those are the most upcoming ones.

12:36.960 --> 12:41.960
So then we also have our QR codes there, our visitor card, and our online giving card,

12:41.960 --> 12:44.960
as well as our prayer list.

12:44.960 --> 12:49.960
There's an addition there for Miss Jennifer's mother is having knee surgery on the 10th,

12:49.960 --> 12:51.960
so please be praying for that.

12:51.960 --> 12:55.960
And then, of course, like I said, Brother Eric and Brother Zach are soul-winding in the Philippines,

12:55.960 --> 12:57.960
so keep them in prayer as well.

12:57.960 --> 13:01.960
Let's go ahead and have a word of prayer as a church family before we go to our third song.

13:01.960 --> 13:04.960
Lord, we thank you for the opportunity to be in church this evening.

13:04.960 --> 13:09.960
I pray that you just bless the singing, the fellowship, the preaching of your word to your honor and glory.

13:09.960 --> 13:14.960
I pray that you would just be with anyone right now struggling with illness or allergies,

13:14.960 --> 13:16.960
that you just help us all to be healthy, Lord.

13:17.960 --> 13:20.960
I also want to pray for Miss Jennifer's mother, Piper,

13:20.960 --> 13:24.960
that she would just have her knee surgery be very successful on the 10th,

13:24.960 --> 13:28.960
that everything would go well, that she'd have a good road of recovery ahead of her.

13:28.960 --> 13:32.960
I also want to pray for Brother Zach and Brother Eric in the Philippines,

13:32.960 --> 13:37.960
that you just keep them safe and healthy and just enable them to do a great work for you over there.

13:37.960 --> 13:42.960
Help them to work hard and just have a free course to preach the gospel freely there, Lord.

13:42.960 --> 13:49.960
I also want to pray for Pastor Stuckey, Evangelist Urbanek, all the great work that's being done over there in the Philippines.

13:49.960 --> 13:52.960
I want to pray for upcoming events, that you just bless them,

13:52.960 --> 13:56.960
that we'd have a great turnout at our soul winning marathon on Saturday.

13:56.960 --> 14:00.960
In Tulsa, we'd get many people saved this weekend, Lord.

14:00.960 --> 14:03.960
That you just bless our church, send us labors for the harvest.

14:03.960 --> 14:08.960
Also pray for Brother Theodore's mother, that she would just be healed completely of her cancer.

14:08.960 --> 14:13.960
We pray for church members that we have here that have unsaved loved ones.

14:13.960 --> 14:16.960
Those people would just have many chances to hear the gospel,

14:16.960 --> 14:20.960
that you just put people in their lives to preach them the gospel,

14:20.960 --> 14:24.960
and that we also would be an answer to that prayer, preaching to our family members, Lord.

14:24.960 --> 14:28.960
I pray that you bless Brother Miles and his health and Miss Rhea.

14:28.960 --> 14:30.960
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

14:30.960 --> 14:33.960
Alright, this time we'll go to our third song together.

14:33.960 --> 14:41.960
For our third song this evening in your white handouts, Psalm 150.

14:41.960 --> 14:49.960
Psalm 150, 150 in your white handouts.

14:57.960 --> 15:00.960
Psalm 150, we'll sing there starting on the 1st.

15:00.960 --> 15:01.960
On the 1st.

15:30.960 --> 15:35.960
Praise him, the soldiering hand art.

15:35.960 --> 15:38.960
Praise him, the temporal act is.

15:38.960 --> 15:44.960
Praise him, the strength in service, care and gorgeous.

15:44.960 --> 15:51.960
Praise him on the loud sullies.

15:51.960 --> 15:57.960
Praise him upon the high sounding sullies.

15:57.960 --> 16:00.960
Praise him in heaven and in earth.

16:00.960 --> 16:03.960
Praise the Lord.

16:03.960 --> 16:06.960
Praise him no more.

16:06.960 --> 16:09.960
Praise God the Father.

16:09.960 --> 16:14.960
Praise God the Son.

16:14.960 --> 16:19.960
Praise God the Holy Ghost.

16:19.960 --> 16:27.960
Praise God in three verses.

16:27.960 --> 16:29.960
Amen.

16:29.960 --> 16:34.960
As the offering plates are being passed, turn if you would to Romans, chapter 16.

16:34.960 --> 16:38.960
Romans, chapter number 16.

17:19.960 --> 17:22.960
Romans, chapter 16.

17:22.960 --> 17:29.960
I commend unto you Phoebe our sister, which is a servant of the church, which is at Sentria,

17:29.960 --> 17:38.960
that ye receive her in the Lord, as becomeeth saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you.

17:38.960 --> 17:44.960
For she hath been a sucker of many, and of myself also.

17:44.960 --> 17:51.960
Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my helpers in Christ Jesus, who have for my life laid down their own necks,

17:51.960 --> 17:57.960
unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

17:57.960 --> 18:01.960
Likewise, greet the church that is in their house.

18:01.960 --> 18:09.960
Salute my well-beloved Epaphonetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.

18:09.960 --> 18:14.960
Greet Mary, who bestowed much labor on us.

18:14.960 --> 18:20.960
Salute Andronikos and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners,

18:20.960 --> 18:27.960
who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

18:27.960 --> 18:32.960
Greet Amplius, my beloved in the Lord.

18:32.960 --> 18:37.960
Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ Jesus.

18:37.960 --> 18:42.960
Salute Stichus, my beloved.

18:42.960 --> 18:46.960
Salute Appelles, approved in Christ.

18:46.960 --> 18:52.960
Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.

18:52.960 --> 18:55.960
Salute Herodion, my kinsmen.

18:55.960 --> 19:02.960
Greet them that be of the household of Narcissus, which are in the Lord.

19:03.960 --> 19:09.960
Salute Trifina and Trifosa, who labor in the Lord.

19:09.960 --> 19:15.960
Salute the beloved Pursus, which labored much in the Lord.

19:15.960 --> 19:20.960
Salute Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother in mine.

19:20.960 --> 19:31.960
Salute Ascinecritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Petrobus, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them.

19:31.960 --> 19:47.960
Salute Philologus and Julia, Nerissus, Nerias, and his sister, Olympus, and all the saints which are with them.

19:47.960 --> 19:51.960
Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.

19:51.960 --> 20:00.960
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them.

20:00.960 --> 20:11.960
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

20:11.960 --> 20:15.960
For your obedience has come abroad unto all men.

20:15.960 --> 20:24.960
I am glad therefore on your behalf, but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good and simple concerning evil.

20:24.960 --> 20:30.960
And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.

20:30.960 --> 20:35.960
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

20:35.960 --> 20:46.960
Demotheus, my work fellow, and Lysias, and Jason, and Sosaphathe, my kinsmen, salute you.

20:46.960 --> 20:52.960
I, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, saluteeth you and the Lord.

20:52.960 --> 20:57.960
Gaius, mine host, and of the whole church, saluteeth you.

20:57.960 --> 21:01.960
Erastus, the chamberlain of the city, saluteeth you.

21:01.960 --> 21:08.960
And Cortus, my brother, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

21:08.960 --> 21:25.960
Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was spoken, which was kept secret since the world began,

21:25.960 --> 21:33.960
but now is made manifest by the scriptures of the prophets according to the commandment of the everlasting God,

21:33.960 --> 21:39.960
made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.

21:39.960 --> 21:44.960
To God only wise be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

21:44.960 --> 21:46.960
Let's pray.

21:46.960 --> 21:49.960
We're thankful for the book of Romans, thankful to be gathered in house,

21:49.960 --> 21:59.960
I pray that it's easy to feel pastor on, your spirit Lord, give me clarity of mind, how we can astound the scripture, and us, please stand up for him.

21:59.960 --> 22:09.960
Man, we made it to the end of Romans, feels like this study absolutely flew by, but great book, one of my favorite books in the Bible, very doctrinally heavy book,

22:09.960 --> 22:20.960
but he ends here in Romans 16, really just shouting out a lot of people, giving a lot of credit, giving a lot of praise to people that he's worked with that has been a blessing to him.

22:20.960 --> 22:24.960
And why is that? Well, that's because Christianity is a team sport.

22:24.960 --> 22:29.960
You know, being a Christian and serving God, it's not just about the self.

22:29.960 --> 22:45.960
And today we kind of have this weird mentality among people who are even saved, where a lot of people think Christianity is just only like this personal religion, that it's just like these private beliefs that you have in this private relationship that you have with God.

22:45.960 --> 22:49.960
And so people today, a lot of times don't want to go to church. They don't want to go soul winning.

22:49.960 --> 22:53.960
They don't want to get plugged into fellowship and being around God's people.

22:53.960 --> 23:02.960
But you know, if that was the right way to live your life chapters like this would not really make a lot of sense in the Bible, where Paul doesn't have just one or two people that he's close with.

23:02.960 --> 23:09.960
I mean, there's just all these people that have blessed him, that he's worked with, that has been there for him.

23:09.960 --> 23:14.960
And, you know, it also goes to show that the Apostle Paul was not a selfish person.

23:14.960 --> 23:19.960
He's going to recognize people that are blessings to him in his life.

23:19.960 --> 23:23.960
And even if things were done for him a really long time ago, he remembers those things.

23:23.960 --> 23:25.960
He remembers people's names.

23:25.960 --> 23:30.960
I mean, that's something that a lot of people are losing today is just remembering people's names.

23:30.960 --> 23:39.960
But I mean, if you're going to remember anyone's name, it should be people at church, people that you serve God with, people that are, you know, yoked up with you in the Lord.

23:39.960 --> 23:41.960
And he starts off with this commendation.

23:41.960 --> 23:49.960
It says, I commend unto you Phoebe, our sister, which is a servant of the church, which is at Sentria.

23:49.960 --> 23:51.960
So you have this woman, Phoebe.

23:51.960 --> 24:03.960
She belongs to a church in Sentria, and she must be traveling, maybe even moving to Rome because he was telling the elders of this church or this church in general.

24:03.960 --> 24:07.960
Hey, I want you to know this person coming to you is a good person.

24:07.960 --> 24:08.960
I approve of her.

24:08.960 --> 24:11.960
I want you to accept this person.

24:11.960 --> 24:27.960
And today there's something similar in Baptist churches where a lot of Baptist churches will have very formal church membership and they will even have like letters of membership where if someone leaves a church and goes to another, they have their pastor write a physical letter transferring their membership.

24:27.960 --> 24:34.960
And, you know, I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with that, but it's also not something that's, you know, taught in the Bible.

24:34.960 --> 24:44.960
But what is something we can learn from this is like, hey, it makes sense that if some church member from another church that we know is coming here, that that pastor would say like, hey, hey, this is a good person.

24:44.960 --> 24:46.960
I commend you this person.

24:46.960 --> 24:47.960
They've been a blessing.

24:47.960 --> 24:51.960
They've been a help or to say, hey, this person's a troublemaker.

24:51.960 --> 24:54.960
This person's going around teaching false doctrine.

24:54.960 --> 24:55.960
This person's a weirdo.

24:55.960 --> 24:57.960
This person's a flat earther.

24:57.960 --> 24:58.960
Watch out.

24:58.960 --> 25:01.960
You know, it'd be good to mark and avoid that type of person.

25:01.960 --> 25:03.960
But here, Phoebe is commended.

25:03.960 --> 25:10.960
He says, I commend under you, Phoebe, our sister, which is notice a servant of the church, which is at Sentria.

25:10.960 --> 25:16.960
Now, what's interesting is that obviously the King James Bible, what does it call her a servant?

25:16.960 --> 25:22.960
But did you know that in the NIV and other modern versions of the Bible, it calls her the deacon.

25:22.960 --> 25:27.960
It says that she is the deacon of the church, which is at Sentria.

25:27.960 --> 25:35.960
And the reason that the modern translating committees will claim this is is because the Greek word here is diakonos, which it is.

25:35.960 --> 25:36.960
That's true.

25:36.960 --> 25:37.960
But here's the thing.

25:37.960 --> 25:44.960
That word, if you look up all the places that word is used in the Bible at times, it's referring to the Lord Jesus Christ.

25:44.960 --> 25:48.960
OK, was Jesus like a deacon in the sense of the office in a church?

25:48.960 --> 25:51.960
No, it's used about God's people in general.

25:51.960 --> 25:54.960
It's used about the Apostle Paul himself.

25:54.960 --> 25:59.960
It's used about Phoebe and it's used about the office of a deacon.

25:59.960 --> 26:00.960
Why is that?

26:00.960 --> 26:05.960
Because the office of a deacon, you know, that word is describing the job and what is it serving?

26:05.960 --> 26:08.960
But you could be a servant.

26:08.960 --> 26:13.960
You could be a servant unto someone without having the title or the office of a deacon.

26:13.960 --> 26:20.960
Right. And so the King James Bible gets this right, that Phoebe is simply a servant of the church that is at Sentria.

26:20.960 --> 26:21.960
And here's the thing.

26:21.960 --> 26:27.960
Anyone man, woman, boy or girl could be a servant to their local New Testament church.

26:27.960 --> 26:29.960
They could be a blessing to their church.

26:29.960 --> 26:41.960
They could be loving on other members, helping other people, esteeming other better than themselves, you know, training other soul winners, giving financially all the different ways people can be a servant to a church.

26:41.960 --> 26:45.960
You know, that doesn't mean that someone is a deacon from the office perspective.

26:45.960 --> 26:48.960
Now, how do we know that that is just a fact?

26:48.960 --> 26:51.960
Keep your place here and go to First Timothy three.

26:51.960 --> 27:04.960
First Timothy chapter number three, because like the office of a pastor, the office of a deacon has specific qualifications that must be met where it's not something arbitrary.

27:04.960 --> 27:09.960
You actually have to meet specific qualifications.

27:09.960 --> 27:13.960
Notice what it says here in verse 12 of First Timothy three.

27:13.960 --> 27:23.960
It says, Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children in their own house as well.

27:23.960 --> 27:33.960
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree and great boldness in the faith, which is in Christ Jesus.

27:33.960 --> 27:38.960
So right here, one of the qualifications of a deacon is that they must be the husband of one wife.

27:38.960 --> 27:39.960
What does that mean?

27:39.960 --> 27:42.960
There's no such thing as a deaconess.

27:42.960 --> 27:47.960
Now, there are female servants and anyone could be a servant to a church.

27:47.960 --> 27:48.960
But you know what?

27:48.960 --> 27:56.960
Any woman who stands up and says, I'm deacon, so and so like that's an office, you know, that is a person usurping authority that does not belong to them.

27:56.960 --> 28:00.960
Standing in an office being presumptuous that does not belong to them.

28:00.960 --> 28:11.960
But, you know, unfortunately, a large portion of Christians today see no issue whatsoever with women in positions of power in church where they think it's OK for a woman to be.

28:11.960 --> 28:16.960
A bishop, a deacon to get up and preach sermons.

28:16.960 --> 28:20.960
You know, you've probably heard of this huge named false prophet.

28:20.960 --> 28:23.960
Notice Mark Driscoll, big name guy.

28:23.960 --> 28:29.960
He started a church in Seattle a really long time ago, ended up moved to Arizona after a whole bunch of scandals.

28:29.960 --> 28:37.960
This guy has got up and preach just all sorts of really weird, perverted stuff, saying that like while he was giving counseling lessons to people,

28:37.960 --> 28:44.960
that God would give him graphic visions of the adultery that this couple was committing and he would graphically describe it to people.

28:44.960 --> 28:49.960
I mean, the Bible says a false prophet said they have eyes full of adultery that cannot cease from sin.

28:49.960 --> 28:52.960
And that's such a perverted, weird thing to say.

28:52.960 --> 28:54.960
It's like that should be a major red flag.

28:54.960 --> 29:04.960
Well, this guy recently started promoting this, you know, young, pretty preacher or whatever, this young girl getting up behind his pulpit and preaching.

29:04.960 --> 29:09.960
And she's like preaching against feminism, which is the biggest oxymoron ever.

29:09.960 --> 29:14.960
Because if you're not a feminist, why are you standing up and teaching men?

29:14.960 --> 29:24.960
Why are you standing up behind the pulpit and preaching God's word, teaching the Bible when the Bible specifically says I suffer, not a woman to teach?

29:24.960 --> 29:27.960
These people are complete hypocrites.

29:27.960 --> 29:38.960
You know, this trad wife movement, this online traditional E girl movement, this female pastor, female deacon movement, it's a bunch of garbage.

29:38.960 --> 29:40.960
Look up at First Timothy three.

29:40.960 --> 29:43.960
Notice what it says of the pastor.

29:43.960 --> 29:51.960
It says of the pastor here in verse number two, a bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife.

29:51.960 --> 29:52.960
So we see it for the deacon.

29:52.960 --> 29:54.960
We see it for the pastor.

29:54.960 --> 29:57.960
These are positions that are only available for men.

29:57.960 --> 30:01.960
Now, does that mean that women are just lesser in the church?

30:01.960 --> 30:07.960
No, because when Paul is shouting people out, what's the first person that comes to his mind is Phoebe.

30:07.960 --> 30:09.960
Phoebe must be an awesome Christian.

30:09.960 --> 30:11.960
She must be a great servant.

30:11.960 --> 30:13.960
And he starts off Roman 16.

30:13.960 --> 30:15.960
He says, hey, I commend unto you, Phoebe.

30:15.960 --> 30:18.960
You know, she is a servant of the church that is at Sentria.

30:18.960 --> 30:20.960
You know, what is she known for?

30:20.960 --> 30:24.960
She's known for serving, being selfless, loving other people.

30:24.960 --> 30:32.960
You know, she's not known for being a loudmouth, for being a gossip, for being a busybody, for being a rebellious feminist to her husband.

30:32.960 --> 30:35.960
You know, he's praising her for being a servant.

30:35.960 --> 30:38.960
But notice what else the Bible says in First Timothy two.

30:38.960 --> 30:39.960
First Timothy two.

30:39.960 --> 30:42.960
Look at verse number 10 there.

30:42.960 --> 30:51.960
It says, but with or look at verse 11, let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

30:51.960 --> 30:59.960
Please explain to me how people read this and say, let's have a woman teach the Bible when it says let her learn with all subjection.

30:59.960 --> 31:06.960
But I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

31:06.960 --> 31:08.960
To suffer means to allow.

31:08.960 --> 31:10.960
Now, here's what's so funny.

31:10.960 --> 31:15.960
If this is we all know that First Timothy, who is the author of First Timothy?

31:15.960 --> 31:21.960
The Apostle Paul, who is the author of Romans, Chapter 16, the Apostle Paul.

31:21.960 --> 31:28.960
So how ridiculous would it be to read First Timothy two where Paul says, I suffer not a woman to teach.

31:28.960 --> 31:31.960
I do not allow a woman to teach.

31:31.960 --> 31:39.960
But then he's going to get up in Romans 16 and say, hey, here's this woman preacher, this ordained woman minister.

31:39.960 --> 31:43.960
This woman that has an office in the church, you know, I'm going to promote her.

31:43.960 --> 31:44.960
That wouldn't make any sense.

31:44.960 --> 31:52.960
He says specifically, I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

31:52.960 --> 31:59.960
See, the issue is God has just ordained for men to lead churches, for men to do the preaching.

31:59.960 --> 32:01.960
Men are in charge in the home.

32:01.960 --> 32:03.960
Men should be in charge in government.

32:03.960 --> 32:05.960
Men should be in charge in church.

32:05.960 --> 32:06.960
That's how God made it.

32:06.960 --> 32:07.960
Why?

32:07.960 --> 32:11.960
He says for Adam was first formed, then Eve and Adam was not deceived.

32:11.960 --> 32:13.960
But the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

32:13.960 --> 32:21.960
Notwithstanding, she shall be saved and childbearing if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

32:21.960 --> 32:29.960
So, hey, you know, if a woman wants to be living a holy life and pleasing God, you would think that she would care what the Bible says.

32:29.960 --> 32:37.960
You know, the last person I would ever want to listen to about the Bible is a female preacher because it just goes to show that she does not care what the Bible says.

32:37.960 --> 32:40.960
I mean, she's just telling you like, hey, qualifications, who cares?

32:40.960 --> 32:42.960
Oh, I suffer not a woman to teach.

32:42.960 --> 32:43.960
Who cares? I'm going to do whatever I want.

32:43.960 --> 32:45.960
That's not going to be a good teacher of the Bible.

32:45.960 --> 32:47.960
And you know what's interesting?

32:47.960 --> 32:54.960
Even with lots of people accepting woman preachers, please show me one good woman preacher.

32:54.960 --> 32:55.960
Where's she at?

32:55.960 --> 32:57.960
Show me one good woman preacher.

32:57.960 --> 32:58.960
It doesn't exist, folks.

32:58.960 --> 33:00.960
You will not find it because you know what?

33:00.960 --> 33:02.960
That is a woman that is outside of God's will.

33:02.960 --> 33:06.960
Now, people will straw man and people will not understand the Bible.

33:06.960 --> 33:06.960

33:06.960 --> 33:10.960
Acts 21 and they'll say, you know, what about Deborah?

33:10.960 --> 33:20.960
Oh, Deborah, in the Book of Judges, where every man did that, which is right in his own eyes when there was not men stepping up to the plate, a woman led people go.

33:20.960 --> 33:22.960
Oh, what about Deborah?

33:22.960 --> 33:24.960
Therefore, female pastors.

33:24.960 --> 33:25.960
It's like that's a huge jump, buddy.

33:25.960 --> 33:26.960
What about Esther?

33:26.960 --> 33:27.960
What about Esther?

33:27.960 --> 33:29.960
I mean, she was trying to please the king.

33:29.960 --> 33:30.960
She was really submissive.

33:30.960 --> 33:33.960
She was, you know, very kind and sweet to the king.

33:33.960 --> 33:36.960
It's like, well, Esther, therefore, female pastors.

33:36.960 --> 33:38.960
How does that make any sense whatsoever?

33:38.960 --> 33:40.960
Oh, well, what about the women that prophesied?

33:40.960 --> 33:43.960
Look at Acts 21 verse.

33:43.960 --> 33:44.960
Let's see.

33:44.960 --> 33:45.960
Number eight.

33:45.960 --> 33:54.960
In the next day, we that were of Paul's company departed and came into Caesarea and we entered into the house of Philip, the evangelist.

33:54.960 --> 33:56.960
Which was one of the seven and abode with him.

33:56.960 --> 34:03.960
Notice in the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

34:03.960 --> 34:06.960
So Philip here has these daughters.

34:06.960 --> 34:07.960
They're godly women.

34:07.960 --> 34:08.960
They're virgins.

34:08.960 --> 34:10.960
And they are doing what they're prophesying.

34:10.960 --> 34:12.960
What does it mean to prophesy?

34:12.960 --> 34:14.960
It means to preach.

34:14.960 --> 34:15.960
But here's the thing.

34:15.960 --> 34:17.960
We got to compare scripture with scripture.

34:17.960 --> 34:22.960
Does this say that they're getting up, you know, in a church setting, teaching the word of God?

34:22.960 --> 34:24.960
Leading a congregation preaching to God's people?

34:24.960 --> 34:25.960
No.

34:25.960 --> 34:26.960
What are they doing?

34:26.960 --> 34:32.960
They're preaching the gospel because, you know, Jesus said, hey, go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

34:32.960 --> 34:37.960
And, hey, we want man, woman, boy and girl preaching the gospel.

34:37.960 --> 34:41.960
I'm for all the female preachers in the world that are out at the doorstep.

34:41.960 --> 34:49.960
I'm for all the female preachers that are out at the park that are out with their kids, preaching their kids the gospel, you know, preaching other men the gospel.

34:49.960 --> 34:50.960
That's great.

34:50.960 --> 34:51.960
But you know what?

34:51.960 --> 34:56.960
We're not going to ever have women get behind the pulpit and preach at church because that's against what the Bible teaches.

34:56.960 --> 34:57.960
All right.

34:57.960 --> 34:59.960
Go back to Romans 16.

34:59.960 --> 35:01.960
So, you know, it's important to have a King James.

35:01.960 --> 35:02.960
What is she?

35:02.960 --> 35:05.960
She's the servant of the church that is at Sentria.

35:05.960 --> 35:08.960
She's not a deacon or deaconess.

35:08.960 --> 35:19.960
Then he says in verse two that you receive her in the Lord as become it saints and that you assist her in whatsoever business business that you have in the Lord.

35:19.960 --> 35:29.960
She has been a sucker of many and of myself also that word sucker just means a helper.

35:29.960 --> 35:30.960
Right.

35:30.960 --> 35:32.960
Someone that assists someone that helps.

35:32.960 --> 35:41.960
And so notice this woman had a great testimony of being someone who served others, helped others and helped the apostle Paul personally.

35:41.960 --> 35:44.960
And, you know, this goes to show is that you reap what you sow.

35:44.960 --> 35:55.960
And if you want someday in the future for people to be there for you to people, you know, help you out, you need to be living a life where you're selflessly helping other people.

35:55.960 --> 36:01.960
You know, she's moving to a strange place or she's visiting a strange place, Rome, far away from her home.

36:01.960 --> 36:07.960
And Paul says, hey, assist her in whatsoever business she have need of.

36:07.960 --> 36:08.960
I mean, that's a lot.

36:08.960 --> 36:11.960
I mean, he's basically just writing her a blank check.

36:11.960 --> 36:12.960
But here's the thing.

36:12.960 --> 36:17.960
When a reputable man of God gets up and just says, hey, this is a good person.

36:17.960 --> 36:18.960
Receive this person.

36:18.960 --> 36:20.960
Help this person with anything they need.

36:20.960 --> 36:24.960
You know, other godly Christians are going to receive that and be like, yeah, we'll do that.

36:24.960 --> 36:25.960
We'll absolutely do that.

36:25.960 --> 36:27.960
It's becoming of saints.

36:27.960 --> 36:30.960
Notice that you receive her in the Lord as become it saints.

36:30.960 --> 36:32.960
You know, someone from said fast came here.

36:32.960 --> 36:36.960
Obviously, I know pretty much everyone has said fast, but like it was someone I didn't know whatsoever.

36:36.960 --> 36:40.960
But, you know, they were coming here and Pastor Shelley called me and said, hey, anything that person is going to do.

36:40.960 --> 36:42.960
Anything that person needs, do it for them.

36:42.960 --> 36:43.960
They're a great person.

36:43.960 --> 36:45.960
They've been a great help for me, a great help for said fast.

36:45.960 --> 36:50.960
I would move mountains for that person just off of Pastor Shelley's testimony alone.

36:50.960 --> 36:51.960
And so, you know what?

36:51.960 --> 36:55.960
We got to live our lives in a way that we're serving other people.

36:55.960 --> 36:57.960
That reminds me of First Timothy five.

36:57.960 --> 37:00.960
First Timothy chapter number five.

37:00.960 --> 37:07.960
First Timothy five is instructing churches on when it would be appropriate to financially take care of widows.

37:07.960 --> 37:14.960
But like there's qualifications to be a pastor, you know, there's qualifications to receive financial support from the church.

37:14.960 --> 37:19.960
It says in verse four or verse three, honor widows that are widows indeed.

37:19.960 --> 37:28.960
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show piety at home and to require their parents for that is good and acceptable before God.

37:28.960 --> 37:32.960
So if a widow exists, who should be taking care of that widow first?

37:32.960 --> 37:34.960
Children and grandchildren.

37:34.960 --> 37:36.960
That's what it means by nephews there.

37:36.960 --> 37:39.960
But it says now she that is a widow indeed.

37:39.960 --> 37:41.960
So it's like she doesn't have kids.

37:41.960 --> 37:49.960
She doesn't have grandkids and desolate, trusteth in God and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

37:49.960 --> 37:54.960
But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she live it.

37:54.960 --> 37:58.960
And these things give in charge that they may be blameless.

37:58.960 --> 38:04.960
But if any provide not for his own and especially for those of his own house, he have denied the faith and is worse than an infidel.

38:04.960 --> 38:11.960
Let not a widow be taken into the number under three score years old, having been the wife of one man.

38:11.960 --> 38:13.960
So we're getting into the qualifications now.

38:13.960 --> 38:15.960
What are the qualifications?

38:15.960 --> 38:19.960
She has to be under or I'm sorry, she can't be under 60 years old.

38:19.960 --> 38:24.960
She has to be 60 or older and she has to have been the wife of one man.

38:24.960 --> 38:26.960
She can't have been divorced and remarried.

38:26.960 --> 38:27.960
Right.

38:27.960 --> 38:45.960
Then it says well reported of for good works if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints feed, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

38:45.960 --> 38:52.960
I mean, that is a serious list right there saying, hey, don't just give away God's money to some woman just claiming to be a widow.

38:52.960 --> 38:57.960
You know, first kids, grandkids, you should be taking care of the widows in your family.

38:57.960 --> 39:01.960
And then if we're going to consider it, OK, she's got to be over 60.

39:01.960 --> 39:03.960
She's got to be only married to one man.

39:03.960 --> 39:09.960
And here's a long list of good works that she has to have met for you to even consider doing this.

39:09.960 --> 39:20.960
You know, it should make you take your life very seriously because if you think, you know, that you're just going to live your life being a loud mouth, being a busybody, not serving God, being selfish, just living for you.

39:20.960 --> 39:23.960
And then think, oh, my husband died. Oh, crap. What do I do?

39:23.960 --> 39:33.960
Oh, now I'm going to get serious. It's like, no, you should have been being a godly person for a long time consistently because that's exactly what this woman is in Romans 16.

39:33.960 --> 39:36.960
Go back to Romans 16 if you would.

39:36.960 --> 39:39.960
Hey, she's just well reported of good works.

39:39.960 --> 39:47.960
And so, you know, she's rewarded with the commendation of Paul saying, hey, anything this woman needs, help her by my word.

39:47.960 --> 39:50.960
You want that kind of a recommendation from someone?

39:50.960 --> 39:53.960
Hey, live a godly life. Be faithful.

39:53.960 --> 40:02.960
Then he says in verse number three, he says, greet Priscilla and Aquila, my helpers in Christ Jesus.

40:02.960 --> 40:08.960
So now this is a pretty well known married couple, Priscilla and Aquila.

40:09.960 --> 40:18.960
And when it comes to this chapter, it kind of seems like that not necessarily every single name that he lists is going to like the same exact church.

40:18.960 --> 40:27.960
It could be kind of loosely connected people, networks of churches, because when he starts off the letter, it's just like to those that are at Rome, to the saints that are at Rome.

40:27.960 --> 40:30.960
It's not like one specific church.

40:30.960 --> 40:33.960
So I don't know if all these people are going to church together.

40:33.960 --> 40:34.960
I'm sure a lot of them are.

40:34.960 --> 40:40.960
But he says, greet these people, Priscilla and Aquila, my helpers in Christ Jesus.

40:40.960 --> 40:46.960
You know, it's good to help other Christians and especially, you know, you think you're just like helping a random guy.

40:46.960 --> 40:49.960
And then you find out like, oh, I was helping the apostle Paul.

40:49.960 --> 40:51.960
You're going to have a lot of rewards in heaven.

40:51.960 --> 40:57.960
So it's like, hey, you know, let us do good unto all men, especially to those who are the household of faith.

40:57.960 --> 41:02.960
When you do it to one of the least of these, my brethren, Jesus said, you've done it unto me.

41:02.960 --> 41:05.960
So we should be helpers of other Christians.

41:05.960 --> 41:06.960
And they weren't just helpers.

41:06.960 --> 41:18.960
Look at verse four. Who have for my life laid down their own necks unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

41:18.960 --> 41:23.960
Of course, we know the apostle Paul went some of the most through some of the most severe persecution.

41:24.960 --> 41:33.960
He talked about how times he was just, you know, overpressed that he was even despairing of life because of how hard things were for him.

41:33.960 --> 41:42.960
But, you know, during those times, he had people that did not forsake him and that even risked their lives for the apostle Paul.

41:42.960 --> 41:45.960
I mean, that is the ultimate picture of love.

41:45.960 --> 41:47.960
Right. Greater love have no man than this.

41:47.960 --> 41:50.960
But that he laid down his life for his friends.

41:50.960 --> 42:00.960
And he says unto whom not only I give thanks, not only am I thankful for these people specifically, he says, but all the churches of the Gentiles.

42:00.960 --> 42:13.960
Why? Because, you know, if there weren't people assisting Paul, blessing Paul, helping Paul hide from people that are trying to kill him, you know, will people willing to risk their own lives to save Paul?

42:13.960 --> 42:17.960
Well, then all these great works that he was doing wouldn't have been accomplished.

42:17.960 --> 42:24.960
So it's like, hey, you know, by helping this man of God, by helping the apostle Paul, you're actually helping thousands of people.

42:24.960 --> 42:28.960
Right. So it's like, you know, we should especially help.

42:28.960 --> 42:29.960
How about this?

42:29.960 --> 42:30.960
Soul winners.

42:30.960 --> 42:31.960
Hey, soul winners.

42:31.960 --> 42:33.960
We should be faithful to fellow soul winners.

42:33.960 --> 42:40.960
We should help out fellow soul winners because when we're helping out fellow soul winners, we're helping out all the people that they're going to get saved someday.

42:40.960 --> 42:44.960
And, you know, you never know when you're going to find a little apostle Paul in your life.

42:44.960 --> 42:55.960
When you're going to invest into someone, bless someone, help someone, and, you know, they go do a great work for the Lord in the future and you could receive the dividends, if you will, of those heavenly rewards.

42:55.960 --> 42:59.960
So, you know, we should just indiscriminately just bless God's people, help God's people.

42:59.960 --> 43:05.960
You know, if there's any man of God out there that saved that needs help, hey, let's help that person.

43:05.960 --> 43:07.960
Let's bless that person.

43:07.960 --> 43:10.960
You know, I'm not worried about if we agree on every single thing.

43:10.960 --> 43:15.960
It's like, hey, if you're saved, if you've got the King James Bible, if you're pro soul winning, I'm for you.

43:15.960 --> 43:17.960
I want you to succeed.

43:17.960 --> 43:22.960
It's like, hey, let's go to Southwest Baptist Church on Friday and let's support their missions conference.

43:22.960 --> 43:28.960
And, you know, I know that there's a lot of bad moochinaries out there, but maybe there's one awesome guy there.

43:28.960 --> 43:30.960
Maybe there's one awesome missionary there.

43:30.960 --> 43:32.960
And, you know, let's support that guy.

43:32.960 --> 43:33.960
Let's bless that guy.

43:33.960 --> 43:35.960
Let's cheer that guy on.

43:35.960 --> 43:36.960
Absolutely.

43:36.960 --> 43:41.960
He says, likewise, verse five, greet the church that is in their house.

43:41.960 --> 43:46.960
Salute my well-beloved epinatus, who is the first fruits of Achaia unto Christ.

43:46.960 --> 43:55.960
So Priscilla and Aquila, not only were they helpers of the Apostle Paul, not only were they willing to lay down their lives to protect the Apostle Paul,

43:55.960 --> 44:02.960
but also notice how hospitable these people are because they're basically hosting a church in their house.

44:02.960 --> 44:07.960
Now, today, there's what's known as like the house church movement.

44:07.960 --> 44:12.960
And what the house church movement is today in America is not what Priscilla and Aquila are doing.

44:12.960 --> 44:16.960
There's nothing in the world wrong with meeting in a house.

44:16.960 --> 44:18.960
There's nothing wrong with meeting in a storefront.

44:18.960 --> 44:22.960
There's nothing wrong meeting in a parking lot in a park.

44:22.960 --> 44:24.960
Wherever you meet is not the problem.

44:24.960 --> 44:30.960
But what I don't like about modern, you know, modern church is that they're not going to be able to meet in a house.

44:30.960 --> 44:39.960
But what I don't like about modern, you know, American day house churches is it's usually a bunch of bozos that aren't qualified,

44:39.960 --> 44:44.960
that are just going around starting their own thing, ordaining themselves, running their own thing.

44:44.960 --> 44:50.960
You know, I don't like that because the Church of God is a serious institution that Jesus bled for,

44:50.960 --> 44:53.960
that Jesus died for, that Jesus is protecting right now.

44:53.960 --> 44:57.960
He said the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

44:57.960 --> 45:00.960
So there's a serious office in church called being a pastor.

45:00.960 --> 45:04.960
And you know, if you do not have a pastor, you do not have a church.

45:04.960 --> 45:13.960
Now, you could have satellite churches where the pastor, he's still in authority there and he's vesting some authority and other men to preach and teach and lead things on the ground.

45:13.960 --> 45:20.960
That's totally fine. But you know what's not fine is someone just waking up one day and just deciding I'm a pastor.

45:20.960 --> 45:23.960
Oh, I'm just a pastor now. That's not how things work.

45:23.960 --> 45:27.960
Go if you would to Titus chapter one. Of course, keep your place there. Titus chapter number one.

45:27.960 --> 45:36.960
You know, a lot of churches that exist today exist for one reason is because some man was self-willed and just decided he was a pastor.

45:36.960 --> 45:45.960
You know, I know someone personally, I was hearing a story from another fellow Baptist in this area this week that explained to me how their pastor came to be.

45:45.960 --> 45:51.960
And this person told me that their pastor was on staff for like a decade at a Baptist church in this area.

45:51.960 --> 45:56.960
And then God told him to quit. All right. Watch out for anyone says God told me.

45:56.960 --> 46:00.960
OK, because God tells you by the word of God right here, God doesn't speak to you audibly.

46:00.960 --> 46:09.960
God told me to leave. OK, and then he just goes and becomes an assistant pastor at another church in in the OKC metro area.

46:09.960 --> 46:13.960
Wasn't trained, wasn't ordained, just found some other church that he's willing to do that with.

46:13.960 --> 46:17.960
Then God told him to leave that job. God told him just bounce.

46:17.960 --> 46:22.960
And then God told him to start his own church and God told him to become a pastor.

46:22.960 --> 46:28.960
And so he just runs a church now. He just stands up and he's his name, you know, calls himself Pastor.

46:28.960 --> 46:31.960
So I don't even know his name, to be honest with you. You know, it's pastor.

46:31.960 --> 46:34.960
So and so he gets up, he leads a Baptist church in this area.

46:34.960 --> 46:38.960
And, you know, he was never ordained. No one ever said, go do this.

46:38.960 --> 46:43.960
God for sure didn't call him because God speaks to us in the last days through his son, through the word of God.

46:43.960 --> 46:48.960
Hebrews one says, but notice what Titus chapter one says again.

46:48.960 --> 46:55.960
This is the Apostle Paul to Titus in verse four of Titus one to Titus, my known son, after the common faith, grace,

46:55.960 --> 47:00.960
mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior.

47:00.960 --> 47:12.960
For this cause left I the in Crete that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting and ordain elders in every city as I had appointed thee.

47:12.960 --> 47:19.960
If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of riot or unruly for a bishop.

47:19.960 --> 47:26.960
So elder and bishops being used interchangeably must be blameless as the steward of God, not self willed, not soon.

47:26.960 --> 47:33.960
There you go. Not self willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre,

47:33.960 --> 47:39.960
but a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate, holding fast the faithful word goes on.

47:40.960 --> 47:45.960
So he says, Hey, Titus, the reason I'm leaving you here in Crete is to set an order.

47:45.960 --> 47:48.960
The things that are wanting, meaning things that are lacking.

47:48.960 --> 47:56.960
What is it that's lacking in Crete? Hey, that that would go and ordain elders in every city as I appointed you.

47:56.960 --> 47:59.960
Right. You have these places where Paul's getting a bunch of people saved.

47:59.960 --> 48:03.960
You have congregations of new believers. What do they need?

48:03.960 --> 48:07.960
They need a pastor. And so what does he commission Titus to do?

48:07.960 --> 48:12.960
Titus, who is another pastor, he's supposed to go and ordain other elders, other bishops.

48:12.960 --> 48:15.960
Why? Because pastors bring forth pastors.

48:15.960 --> 48:20.960
You know, you have to be ordained by someone to be a legitimate man of God.

48:20.960 --> 48:23.960
And you say, well, you know, I feel like God's calling is on my life.

48:23.960 --> 48:28.960
OK, you know, if God calls you, I'm pretty sure some other man of God will be able to recognize that.

48:28.960 --> 48:32.960
I mean, if God really called you, if God really wants you to be a pastor,

48:33.960 --> 48:38.960
You don't think that other men of God wouldn't see, hey, you know, maybe you're cut out to be a pastor.

48:38.960 --> 48:43.960
Hey, maybe you fit the qualifications. Hey, let's, you know, lay hands on you and ordain you to go do this.

48:43.960 --> 48:46.960
But you know what? If you could find no one that could do that for you,

48:46.960 --> 48:50.960
that's probably a good sign that God did not call you to be a pastor.

48:50.960 --> 48:56.960
You know, or like Tyler Baker, where it's like you get fired from faithful word because your preaching sucks

48:56.960 --> 48:59.960
and your doctrine sucks and your work ethic sucks.

48:59.960 --> 49:02.960
So what do you do? You got to go to your dad and get ordained, right?

49:02.960 --> 49:05.960
Because no one else will do it for you. It's like that's a bad sign.

49:05.960 --> 49:10.960
All right. You got to be sent out by a man of God. If you can't do that, God hasn't called you.

49:10.960 --> 49:13.960
And so this idea of a church being in a house, there's nothing wrong with that.

49:13.960 --> 49:15.960
Go back to Romans 16.

49:15.960 --> 49:18.960
There's nothing wrong with a church meeting in a house.

49:18.960 --> 49:24.960
But there is something wrong with people just rebelling against their church authority, causing church splits and saying,

49:24.960 --> 49:27.960
hey, guys, let's just all go to my house and I'll just I'll be the pastor.

49:27.960 --> 49:29.960
Now, there is something wrong with that.

49:29.960 --> 49:32.960
These people, what were they doing? They were sacrificing.

49:32.960 --> 49:34.960
They had the church in their house.

49:34.960 --> 49:38.960
You know, I've been to churches that have met in a house before that had a legitimate pastor.

49:38.960 --> 49:47.960
And you know what? That's a big sacrifice that someone is making to just have a large group of people over at your home at any time as a sacrifice.

49:47.960 --> 49:54.960
But imagine doing that three times a week, you know, people destroying your bathrooms, people destroying your fixtures,

49:54.960 --> 49:58.960
people staying until midnight at your house, like people that do this.

49:58.960 --> 50:01.960
God bless them, because that's definitely a great sacrifice.

50:01.960 --> 50:07.960
Notice he says salute, verse five, salute my well-beloved at Panaetus.

50:07.960 --> 50:09.960
I hope I'm saying that right.

50:09.960 --> 50:14.960
Who is notice the first fruits of a Kaya unto Christ.

50:14.960 --> 50:18.960
So what is why is this man special at Panaetus?

50:18.960 --> 50:23.960
Well, it's one of the first people that got saved in this geographic area.

50:23.960 --> 50:27.960
He's the first fruits of a Kaya unto Christ.

50:27.960 --> 50:36.960
And you can definitely tell that the Apostle Paul has the heart of a soul winner here, because when he thinks of this specific area, a Kaya, hey, he remembers a Panaetus.

50:36.960 --> 50:44.960
And he's like, hey, greet this guy, say hi to this guy, because this guy was like the first guy, you know, of the first people that got saved.

50:44.960 --> 50:46.960
And he's like, you know, say hi to that guy.

50:46.960 --> 50:49.960
You know, if you're a soul winner, you probably remember your first salvation.

50:49.960 --> 50:51.960
Raise your hand if you remember your first salvation.

50:51.960 --> 50:53.960
I vividly remember my first salvation.

50:53.960 --> 50:54.960
And you know what?

50:54.960 --> 51:02.960
It was only by God's grace that I got this salvation because I was going so foolishly because I didn't have a soul winning church to go to.

51:02.960 --> 51:03.960
And so I just went on my own.

51:03.960 --> 51:05.960
I had no silent partner.

51:05.960 --> 51:11.960
I just watched the pastor Anderson soul winning instruction part one soul winning instruction part two.

51:11.960 --> 51:15.960
I watched them both like three or four times, took notes, and I just went out there and did it.

51:15.960 --> 51:19.960
And the first time I ever went soul winning, I got someone saved.

51:19.960 --> 51:27.960
But here's the funny part about that is that I was living in Boise, Idaho, and I didn't understand that, you know, you want to go to the poor areas, you want to go to the ghetto.

51:27.960 --> 51:30.960
I didn't know that was different than going to the nice areas.

51:30.960 --> 51:35.960
So I just went to the part of town that I just enjoyed being in, which was the foothills.

51:35.960 --> 51:42.960
Now, in the foothills are nothing but million dollar homes, probably like tens of millions of dollars homes now, just super rich people.

51:42.960 --> 51:43.960
And I go there.

51:43.960 --> 51:46.960
And the first time I ever went, I got someone saved.

51:46.960 --> 51:49.960
And then like for the next six months, I got no one saved.

51:49.960 --> 51:53.960
And the way I looked at it is God was just saying like, oh, good job, son.

51:53.960 --> 51:54.960
You know, here's one.

51:54.960 --> 51:57.960
You know, here's the easy one, because I love that you're going out here.

51:57.960 --> 52:01.960
You know, but then he's like, all right, you need to get the heck out of this rich area.

52:01.960 --> 52:02.960
But it's like I remember that guy.

52:02.960 --> 52:04.960
I could see his face right now.

52:04.960 --> 52:06.960
I could remember our conversation.

52:06.960 --> 52:07.960
And you know what?

52:07.960 --> 52:10.960
It's just good to have love for people.

52:10.960 --> 52:13.960
And you can obviously tell that the apostle Paul had that.

52:13.960 --> 52:15.960
Look at verse number six.

52:15.960 --> 52:20.960
It says, greet Mary, who bestowed much labor on us.

52:20.960 --> 52:24.960
So, again, hey, the Bible isn't some book that's just down on women.

52:24.960 --> 52:26.960
Women can't serve at church.

52:26.960 --> 52:28.960
Women can't be involved in the work of the ministry.

52:28.960 --> 52:33.960
I mean, we're six verses in here and he's already talked about three different women.

52:33.960 --> 52:34.960
Right.

52:34.960 --> 52:40.960
So this false accusation against us that just because we do not allow women to be pastors, deacons,

52:40.960 --> 52:45.960
preach behind the pulpit, that we are somehow down on women or despise women.

52:45.960 --> 52:47.960
You know, that couldn't be further from the truth.

52:47.960 --> 52:51.960
The work that ladies do in a ministry is very, very important.

52:51.960 --> 52:52.960
And you know what?

52:52.960 --> 52:53.960
We need men, soul winners.

52:53.960 --> 52:55.960
We need ladies, soul winners.

52:55.960 --> 52:59.960
There's people out in this world that are just going to connect with me, my personality.

52:59.960 --> 53:01.960
And, you know, they're going to enjoy talking to me.

53:01.960 --> 53:07.960
And then there's going to be a lot more people in this world that would rather talk to you ladies and will connect with you and will listen to you.

53:07.960 --> 53:11.960
And, you know, I call it your pretty privilege because women are more attractive than men.

53:11.960 --> 53:12.960
And you know what?

53:12.960 --> 53:15.960
If some dude opens up the door and there's, you know, a nice lady standing there,

53:15.960 --> 53:21.960
they probably are less likely to cuss you out and scream at you and get all mad where it's like, you know, me and Theodore go knock doors.

53:21.960 --> 53:26.960
And it's just like angry phone call after angry phone call, slam door, cussing, you know, then ladies open.

53:26.960 --> 53:29.960
There's like, oh, yeah, what must I do to be safe?

53:29.960 --> 53:32.960
It's like, hey, you know, we need the ladies soul winners.

53:32.960 --> 53:38.960
And you know what, Mary, she bestowed much labor on us.

53:38.960 --> 53:47.960
You know, speaking of the apostles, you know, don't think that all by serving by by laboring for someone else, by doing acts of service for other people.

53:47.960 --> 53:50.960
You know, that degrades me. That makes me lesser.

53:50.960 --> 53:52.960
No, no, no. That makes you more honorable.

53:52.960 --> 53:56.960
That even makes you greater in the kingdom of God, Jesus said.

53:56.960 --> 53:59.960
And the apostle Paul doesn't look down on people that served him.

53:59.960 --> 54:04.960
He's saying, hey, God bless these people, greet these people, say hi to these people.

54:04.960 --> 54:09.960
You know, he loves Mary with a godly love for doing that.

54:09.960 --> 54:21.960
Verse seven, salute andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

54:21.960 --> 54:33.960
Now, this verse over, you know, history has also been a very controversial verse because a lot of people read this and they see it andronicus as a man, Junia as a woman.

54:33.960 --> 54:41.960
And when it says that they are of note among the apostles, a lot of people falsely interpret this to say like they are apostles.

54:41.960 --> 54:46.960
This man and woman, they're both apostles and they're like of note among the apostles.

54:46.960 --> 54:50.960
Right. So it'd be like, you know, you got a room full of pastors and it's like, you know,

54:50.960 --> 54:53.960
these pastors are really noteworthy, you know, they're really well known.

54:53.960 --> 54:56.960
They're doing a lot of labor. That is not what this is saying.

54:56.960 --> 55:04.960
First of all, and also, you know, no one could even prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that both of these people or that Junia rather is a woman.

55:04.960 --> 55:07.960
Anyways, personally, I do believe that it's a woman.

55:07.960 --> 55:13.960
But, you know, you can't even say 100 percent that Junia is a woman because, you know, these are kind of archaic names.

55:13.960 --> 55:16.960
And who even knows if that name is a woman?

55:17.960 --> 55:23.960
You know, there's all sorts of names that are, you know, used by both genders that could apply to both.

55:23.960 --> 55:25.960
Who knows if that's one of them?

55:25.960 --> 55:28.960
But what this is really saying is it's saying salute.

55:28.960 --> 55:31.960
Say hi to Andronicus and Junia.

55:31.960 --> 55:34.960
I believe Junia is a woman and my kinsmen.

55:34.960 --> 55:42.960
So, you know, these are like Hebrews and my fellow prisoners who are of note among the apostles who also were in Christ before me.

55:42.960 --> 55:51.960
When it says that they are of note among the apostles, I think it's saying like, hey, even the apostles, they know these people like these people stick out.

55:51.960 --> 55:59.960
These people kind of shine as being a really great example of Christians, even though they're not apostles.

55:59.960 --> 56:03.960
I don't believe that these people are in any type of ordained position.

56:03.960 --> 56:06.960
But, you know, even today, there's like people in the new I.F.B.

56:06.960 --> 56:11.960
movement that are not pastors that are not deacons that like every pastor would know.

56:11.960 --> 56:12.960
I mean, how about Ben Naim?

56:12.960 --> 56:15.960
I mean, Ben Naim is like a really great Christian.

56:15.960 --> 56:16.960
He's on the Baptist bias.

56:16.960 --> 56:18.960
You know, his name is kind of everywhere.

56:18.960 --> 56:20.960
It's like he's not a pastor, anything like that.

56:20.960 --> 56:23.960
But he like he's of note among, you know, pastors, if you will.

56:23.960 --> 56:24.960
He's not a pastor.

56:24.960 --> 56:28.960
But I think that's kind of what it's saying here that these people are just really great Christians.

56:28.960 --> 56:29.960
Everyone knows them.

56:29.960 --> 56:30.960
Why would everyone know them?

56:30.960 --> 56:34.960
Well, notice it says that they were his fellow prisoners.

56:34.960 --> 56:41.960
I mean, if imagine like I got arrested tomorrow for preaching the gospel and, you know, one of you got arrested with me

56:41.960 --> 56:48.960
and we spent some time in the slammer together and, you know, me and me and you are just hanging out in jail and, you know, we're singing hymns.

56:48.960 --> 56:50.960
We're trying to get the jailer saved.

56:50.960 --> 56:53.960
We're praying that God's going to like shake open the gates and let us out or whatever.

56:53.960 --> 56:55.960
You know, we went through that experience together.

56:55.960 --> 57:02.960
Don't you think that a lot of other people would hear about that and know like, hey, pastor Oz and this person, you know, went to jail together

57:03.960 --> 57:07.960
and, you know, that probably make you of note among other Christians.

57:07.960 --> 57:10.960
And so why are these people great Christians?

57:10.960 --> 57:13.960
Hey, they weren't ashamed of the Apostle Paul's chain.

57:13.960 --> 57:17.960
They were willing to suffer persecution for the Lord Jesus Christ.

57:17.960 --> 57:22.960
They were willing to endure afflictions and endure the suffering of the gospel.

57:22.960 --> 57:31.960
And, you know, when you go through hardships, when you go through really, you know, crazy situations with people, you know, you often have a very strong bond

57:31.960 --> 57:34.960
with that person that lasts a really, really long time.

57:34.960 --> 57:38.960
You know, like we've all seen those veteran reunion stories, right?

57:38.960 --> 57:44.960
Where it's like these really, really old veterans meet up with people that they served with and, you know, they share a tear and hug each other.

57:44.960 --> 57:49.960
Why? Because they had a really, you know, crazy experience together that just kept that bond over time.

57:49.960 --> 57:53.960
You know, the same thing can happen in the service of God.

57:53.960 --> 57:59.960
People that you endure persecution with, you know, people, the ushers that went through the protests.

57:59.960 --> 58:01.960
It's like we've got a bond. We've got a tight bond.

58:01.960 --> 58:09.960
You know, when we faced off with those fags and LGBT terrorists and they're all threatening us, we're trying to like push them out of the way so cars can get through.

58:09.960 --> 58:12.960
It's like all of us remember that day and have a bond.

58:12.960 --> 58:17.960
And so, hey, when you're going through persecution, it's a good time to make really strong relationships with Christians.

58:17.960 --> 58:19.960
Don't bounce. Verse eight.

58:19.960 --> 58:23.960
Great Amplius, my beloved in the Lord.

58:24.960 --> 58:29.960
Don't know what this guy did, but you know, he just seems like a random guy who must just be a good Christian.

58:29.960 --> 58:31.960
He's like, say hi to Amplius.

58:31.960 --> 58:36.960
You know, I love this guy just goes to show that every single person in the body of Christ is important.

58:36.960 --> 58:39.960
Every single person in church is important.

58:39.960 --> 58:49.960
And, you know, it's not like, well, if you've only been through the persecution or if you're only just a rock star soul winner or if you're only having gone to jail for Christ, it's like, no, no, no.

58:49.960 --> 58:51.960
Every safe person in church, you just love them.

58:51.960 --> 58:56.960
You know, they're important to the work of God says, let's see, verse nine.

58:56.960 --> 59:02.960
Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ and stackies, my beloved.

59:02.960 --> 59:07.960
So just notice how many people the Apostle Paul is calling his helper.

59:07.960 --> 59:09.960
Hey, this person was my helper.

59:09.960 --> 59:12.960
Hey, she was a sucker of many and of myself.

59:12.960 --> 59:15.960
Also, hey, this person bestowed much labor on us.

59:15.960 --> 59:19.960
You know, there's just so much work to do in the ministry.

59:19.960 --> 59:24.960
You know, if people ever feel like, oh, you know, I just feel like there's not enough to do in church.

59:24.960 --> 59:25.960
There's not enough work to do.

59:25.960 --> 59:27.960
It's like I'll help you find something to do.

59:27.960 --> 59:29.960
There's always something to do in church.

59:29.960 --> 59:33.960
Just all these people are helping the Apostle Paul.

59:33.960 --> 59:41.960
He says, salute, appellies approved in Christ, salute them, which are of Aristotle's household.

59:41.960 --> 59:47.960
So that's kind of an interesting phrase there, how appellies is approved in Christ.

59:47.960 --> 59:53.960
Obviously, you know, every single saved person has a good standing with Christ in the sense that, you know, they're saved.

59:53.960 --> 59:54.960
They're going to heaven.

59:54.960 --> 59:58.960
But this person appellies was like approved in Christ.

59:58.960 --> 01:00:04.960
It makes me kind of think of that this person was tested or maybe this person was tried, went through something really difficult.

01:00:04.960 --> 01:00:07.960
And it's like, hey, this person is approved in Christ.

01:00:07.960 --> 01:00:10.960
Definitely what we should strive for ourselves.

01:00:11.960 --> 01:00:19.960
Salute herodium, my kinsmen, greet them that be of the household of narcissists, which are in the Lord.

01:00:19.960 --> 01:00:24.960
Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labor in the Lord.

01:00:24.960 --> 01:00:29.960
Salute the beloved Perses, which labored much in the Lord.

01:00:29.960 --> 01:00:31.960
You know, I noticed the Apostle Paul, he likes laborers.

01:00:31.960 --> 01:00:37.960
He likes people that are working, people that are serving, people that are working for the kingdom of God.

01:00:37.960 --> 01:00:42.960
You know, hey, the harvest is plenious, Jesus said, but the laborers are a few.

01:00:42.960 --> 01:00:43.960
And you know who Paul is remembering?

01:00:43.960 --> 01:00:45.960
He's remembering the laborers.

01:00:45.960 --> 01:00:49.960
He's remembering the people that want to work, that want to do something great for God.

01:00:49.960 --> 01:00:59.960
You know, in the course of a church's lifetime, think about how many hundreds or thousands of people walk through a door as a visitor and they just show up and they just kind of listen to the sermon.

01:00:59.960 --> 01:01:02.960
They take everything in and then they just leave and never come back.

01:01:02.960 --> 01:01:04.960
You know, those people you're not going to remember.

01:01:04.960 --> 01:01:06.960
Those people are not of note to the Apostle Paul.

01:01:06.960 --> 01:01:07.960
Who's of note to him?

01:01:07.960 --> 01:01:10.960
Those that are working, those that are doing.

01:01:10.960 --> 01:01:17.960
You know, obviously we shouldn't do our works to be seen of men, but you're just like, you know, hey, you know, I kind of want to get noticed.

01:01:17.960 --> 01:01:19.960
Okay, we'll do a lot of work and you'll be noticed.

01:01:19.960 --> 01:01:21.960
You know, oh, I want to preach someday.

01:01:21.960 --> 01:01:22.960
I want to be called to preach.

01:01:22.960 --> 01:01:26.960
I want to be asked to be a pastor, do a lot of work, do a lot of labor.

01:01:26.960 --> 01:01:27.960
And you know what?

01:01:27.960 --> 01:01:28.960
Maybe that'll happen someday.

01:01:28.960 --> 01:01:32.960
But a lot of people just want to talk and not actually work.

01:01:32.960 --> 01:01:34.960
He's noticing the workers.

01:01:34.960 --> 01:01:41.960
He says, salute Rufus, chosen in the Lord and his mother and mine.

01:01:41.960 --> 01:01:45.960
You know, it's kind of an intimate verse there, shouting out Rufus and Rufus's mom.

01:01:45.960 --> 01:01:46.960
And he's like, you know what?

01:01:46.960 --> 01:01:48.960
She's like my mom, too.

01:01:48.960 --> 01:02:00.960
Right. So, you know, even the elderly ladies, they could just have a great effect on a man of God just by being hospitable, serving, helping to the point where he looks at this woman, this unnamed woman in the Bible.

01:02:00.960 --> 01:02:01.960
Who knows what her name was?

01:02:01.960 --> 01:02:04.960
But the Apostle Paul looked at her like, hey, that's my mom right there.

01:02:04.960 --> 01:02:05.960
That's pretty amazing.

01:02:05.960 --> 01:02:14.960
You know, how would you like to ladies as you get older and some just like great man of God, you know, he has like a motherly love towards you and he looks at you as a great example.

01:02:14.960 --> 01:02:15.960
You know, that's a beautiful thing.

01:02:15.960 --> 01:02:22.960
And, you know, this woman's going to be greatly rewarded in heaven when she's helping and serving the Apostle Paul.

01:02:22.960 --> 01:02:25.960
And the Apostle Paul is like a son unto him.

01:02:25.960 --> 01:02:26.960
That's a beautiful verse.

01:02:26.960 --> 01:02:35.960
First 14 salute, a syncretist, fleagon, Hermes, Patribus, Hermes, or some baby names for you ladies if you're interested and the brethren which are with them.

01:02:35.960 --> 01:02:37.960
Can you tell these people are in Rome?

01:02:37.960 --> 01:02:39.960
I mean, these are some Roman names here.

01:02:39.960 --> 01:02:42.960
Notice not a whole lot of Jews.

01:02:42.960 --> 01:02:45.960
There are some kinsmen here, but it's mostly just like the Gentiles.

01:02:45.960 --> 01:02:46.960
Right.

01:02:46.960 --> 01:02:48.960
Of course, that's who's most receptive.

01:02:48.960 --> 01:02:54.960
Salute, Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister and uncle.

01:02:54.960 --> 01:03:00.960
Nereus and his sister and Olympus and all the saints which are with them.

01:03:00.960 --> 01:03:02.960
Just tons of Roman names there.

01:03:02.960 --> 01:03:05.960
Lots of people that are involved in this ministry.

01:03:05.960 --> 01:03:09.960
He says, salute one another within Holy Kiss.

01:03:09.960 --> 01:03:11.960
The churches of Christ salute you.

01:03:11.960 --> 01:03:18.960
Of course, there's nothing weird, you know, with this Holy Kiss, just in a lot of other cultures, people greet each other with like the kiss on the cheek.

01:03:18.960 --> 01:03:21.960
Thank God that's not in our culture.

01:03:21.960 --> 01:03:25.960
I was in the DFW airport one time and these men, they had to have been foreigners.

01:03:25.960 --> 01:03:31.960
They better have been foreigners because they just hug each other and they start kissing each other on the cheek and I'm just like, what the?

01:03:31.960 --> 01:03:33.960
But I'm like, oh, OK, they're from a different country, you know.

01:03:33.960 --> 01:03:35.960
But what's he saying here?

01:03:35.960 --> 01:03:37.960
You know, say hi to one another.

01:03:37.960 --> 01:03:39.960
You know, is that really too much to ask?

01:03:39.960 --> 01:03:41.960
Just salute one another within Holy Kiss.

01:03:41.960 --> 01:03:43.960
The churches of Christ salute you.

01:03:43.960 --> 01:03:47.960
Hey, you know, in the Church of God, we ought to be hospitable.

01:03:47.960 --> 01:03:50.960
We ought to be loving to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

01:03:50.960 --> 01:03:53.960
Loving and hospitable to visitors who come.

01:03:53.960 --> 01:03:57.960
You know, one very simple, easy way to do that is just salute one another.

01:03:57.960 --> 01:03:59.960
Say hi to one another.

01:03:59.960 --> 01:04:01.960
Make people feel welcome.

01:04:01.960 --> 01:04:04.960
You know, when you see other people, salute them.

01:04:04.960 --> 01:04:06.960
It's very simple, but it's important.

01:04:06.960 --> 01:04:07.960
Now he kind of transitions.

01:04:07.960 --> 01:04:13.960
He goes from like this shout out session of just all these great people that blessed him, that did all this great to him.

01:04:13.960 --> 01:04:16.960
Now he's going to turn to a warning.

01:04:16.960 --> 01:04:26.960
He says, now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them.

01:04:26.960 --> 01:04:35.960
Now, so far, if you've been following along in the Book of Romans, the church at Rome, the churches that are at Rome seems like a pretty great group.

01:04:35.960 --> 01:04:37.960
Seems like there's not a ton of big issues.

01:04:37.960 --> 01:04:44.960
You know, when you compare it to things like First Corinthians, Second Corinthians, seems like a much more more mature group.

01:04:44.960 --> 01:04:46.960
Seems like they have a lot more unity.

01:04:46.960 --> 01:04:50.960
Now, that reminds me, go to Romans 15 back to Romans 15.

01:04:50.960 --> 01:04:53.960
Remember what his desire was for these people.

01:04:53.960 --> 01:05:10.960
In verse five of Romans 15, he said, Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one toward another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

01:05:10.960 --> 01:05:11.960
What did Paul want for these people?

01:05:11.960 --> 01:05:19.960
For them to be unified, for them to have the same doctrine, for them to have the same thoughts about the Bible, for these people to have a godly unity.

01:05:19.960 --> 01:05:20.960
You know what?

01:05:20.960 --> 01:05:29.960
It seems like that's what they have, because when he's shouting these people out, it just sounds like, you know, great person after great person after great person who's doing all these good things.

01:05:29.960 --> 01:05:39.960
But, you know, unity does not just continue to exist in perpetuity without maintenance, without things being done to have to maintain that unity.

01:05:39.960 --> 01:05:51.960
There's something that you have to do to maintain unity, and it is marking and avoiding those who cause divisions, those who preach false doctrine, contrary to the things which we have believed.

01:05:51.960 --> 01:06:01.960
See, they did not just have this unity where it's unity at all costs, unity at the expense of doctrine, unity above everything else that possibly matters.

01:06:01.960 --> 01:06:09.960
No, the reason that they had a godly unity is because they cared about doctrine, because they were willing to call people out.

01:06:09.960 --> 01:06:10.960
Notice what he calls them to do.

01:06:10.960 --> 01:06:21.960
He says, I beseech you, brethren, number one, mark them, which caused divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them.

01:06:21.960 --> 01:06:22.960
What is the first thing he says to do?

01:06:22.960 --> 01:06:23.960
Mark them.

01:06:23.960 --> 01:06:25.960
What does that mean?

01:06:25.960 --> 01:06:35.960
Make it plain, make it known, say the names, point out who you're talking about, make it known, hey, this person is causing division.

01:06:35.960 --> 01:06:38.960
This person is preaching false doctrine.

01:06:38.960 --> 01:06:51.960
Now, this is totally fair for the Apostle Paul to command because didn't he just spend this entire chapter, you know, pointing out people in a good light saying, hey, we like this person, receive this person, this person's great.

01:06:51.960 --> 01:06:52.960
You know, I like to do that.

01:06:52.960 --> 01:06:57.960
I like to promote other pastors, other Christians that I know that are doing a great work.

01:06:57.960 --> 01:06:58.960
That's biblical.

01:06:58.960 --> 01:06:59.960
We should point those things out.

01:06:59.960 --> 01:07:07.960
But you know, we should also do is we should make known when someone is causing division and teaching doctrine contrary to that which we have heard.

01:07:07.960 --> 01:07:17.960
Also notice that Paul is not the one causing division by marking someone, which is funny because when a pastor gets up today and preaches against someone,

01:07:17.960 --> 01:07:23.960
corrects air, fixes false doctrine, says, hey, this teaching is bad.

01:07:23.960 --> 01:07:24.960
Here's what the Bible says.

01:07:24.960 --> 01:07:36.960
You know, we constantly get accused of doing sewing division, sewing discord, causing division when it couldn't be further from the truth because it's those teaching lies that are causing division.

01:07:36.960 --> 01:07:39.960
It's those teaching false doctrine that are causing division.

01:07:39.960 --> 01:07:43.960
See, a lot of people would look at my sermon on Sunday about the post-tri rapture.

01:07:44.960 --> 01:07:46.960
And you know, on Facebook, it has like a thousand comments.

01:07:46.960 --> 01:07:47.960
Go look on it.

01:07:47.960 --> 01:07:50.960
There's all these people just saying like, hey, you know, you're causing division.

01:07:50.960 --> 01:07:52.960
Why are you fighting about this?

01:07:52.960 --> 01:07:54.960
You're being divisive in the kingdom of God.

01:07:54.960 --> 01:07:55.960
It's like, no, no, no, no.

01:07:55.960 --> 01:07:56.960
I was reading the Bible.

01:07:56.960 --> 01:07:58.960
I was giving Bible verses.

01:07:58.960 --> 01:08:00.960
I was showing you what the Bible says on this doctrine.

01:08:00.960 --> 01:08:01.960
Who's causing division?

01:08:01.960 --> 01:08:05.960
The pre trippers are causing division because they're teaching lies.

01:08:05.960 --> 01:08:10.960
And you know, I'm not causing division by saying, hey, pre trippers, you're teaching lies.

01:08:10.960 --> 01:08:11.960
No, no, no.

01:08:11.960 --> 01:08:13.960
The people teaching the lies are the ones causing the division.

01:08:13.960 --> 01:08:25.960
And, you know, you ought to stop being such a bleeding heart every time a pastor gets up and fights a battle and corrects a doctrine and names a name and corrects an issue and acted like, oh, why does he got to fight so much?

01:08:25.960 --> 01:08:27.960
Why does he always got to be so angry?

01:08:27.960 --> 01:08:29.960
Why does he always got to be dealing with issues?

01:08:29.960 --> 01:08:30.960
Because we want unity.

01:08:30.960 --> 01:08:31.960
That's why.

01:08:31.960 --> 01:08:34.960
Because we want to have godly unity.

01:08:34.960 --> 01:08:36.960
Go to Acts chapter 20.

01:08:36.960 --> 01:08:38.960
Acts chapter number 20.

01:08:38.960 --> 01:08:45.960
The famous farewell address to the elders at Ephesus from the Apostle Paul.

01:08:45.960 --> 01:08:49.960
And notice what he says in verse 28.

01:08:49.960 --> 01:09:00.960
Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

01:09:00.960 --> 01:09:10.960
For I know this that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

01:09:10.960 --> 01:09:18.960
So notice the Apostle Paul, he says this is not a maybe there will be grievous wolves that creep in among you, not sparing the flock.

01:09:18.960 --> 01:09:22.960
He doesn't write Romans 16 and says, man, look at all the great unity we have here.

01:09:22.960 --> 01:09:24.960
Look at all these great Christians.

01:09:24.960 --> 01:09:26.960
Look at all this is, you know, that's being done for the Lord.

01:09:26.960 --> 01:09:27.960
Grace be with you.

01:09:27.960 --> 01:09:28.960
Amen.

01:09:28.960 --> 01:09:30.960
No, he says, hey, look at the unity we have.

01:09:30.960 --> 01:09:32.960
Look at the great things that are being done.

01:09:32.960 --> 01:09:34.960
Look at these great Christians.

01:09:34.960 --> 01:09:36.960
Now, if you want to keep that, let me warn you.

01:09:36.960 --> 01:09:44.960
I beseech you therefore, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you've learned and avoid them.

01:09:44.960 --> 01:09:45.960
Same thing here.

01:09:45.960 --> 01:09:47.960
Hey, they're going to creep in among you.

01:09:47.960 --> 01:09:56.960
He says in verse 30, also of your own selves shall men arise speaking perverse things to draw away disciples of the Lord.

01:09:56.960 --> 01:10:04.960
So notice unity is not just a guaranteed locked in thing that if a church has it now, that means they'll always have it in the future.

01:10:04.960 --> 01:10:07.960
No, because, of course, the devil loves to destroy churches.

01:10:07.960 --> 01:10:09.960
He loves to divide churches.

01:10:09.960 --> 01:10:12.960
And, you know, he often uses insiders to do that.

01:10:12.960 --> 01:10:17.960
He often uses people to creep in on the inside where they're not really sincere.

01:10:17.960 --> 01:10:18.960
They're not really for the team.

01:10:18.960 --> 01:10:20.960
They don't really want the church to succeed.

01:10:20.960 --> 01:10:23.960
What they want to do is they want to start sowing division.

01:10:23.960 --> 01:10:27.960
Gathering a following unto themselves to draw away disciples after themselves.

01:10:27.960 --> 01:10:30.960
And notice what I said, speaking perverse things.

01:10:30.960 --> 01:10:32.960
How is it you could spot an infiltrator?

01:10:32.960 --> 01:10:38.960
You know, they're not going to be taking off their mask and then you can see their wolf, right, in the parking lot or something like that.

01:10:38.960 --> 01:10:40.960
No, it's going to be through the things that they say.

01:10:40.960 --> 01:10:43.960
It's going to be, hey, you know, have you heard about oneness?

01:10:43.960 --> 01:10:45.960
I think oneness might actually be right.

01:10:45.960 --> 01:10:48.960
You know, hey, you know, all sorts of just crazy false doctrine.

01:10:48.960 --> 01:10:50.960
That's how you're going to be able to see it.

01:10:50.960 --> 01:10:52.960
That's why he says, hey, you know, you know, you're going to be able to see it.

01:10:52.960 --> 01:11:01.960
That's why he says in verse 31, therefore, watch and remember that by the space of three years, I cease not to warn everyone night and day with tears.

01:11:01.960 --> 01:11:06.960
So the same guy who's just praising all these people, saying how many good people there are.

01:11:06.960 --> 01:11:10.960
He's the same person that every day and every night is warning about the wicked.

01:11:10.960 --> 01:11:19.960
Why? Because if you love good people, if you love churches, if you love unity, if you love the truth, then you're going to hate false doctrine.

01:11:19.960 --> 01:11:20.960
You're going to hate the wolves.

01:11:20.960 --> 01:11:21.960
You're going to hate the wolves.

01:11:21.960 --> 01:11:22.960
You're going to hate the infiltrators.

01:11:22.960 --> 01:11:26.960
And you're going to be willing to mark those people and not just mark them.

01:11:26.960 --> 01:11:30.960
He says, mark these individuals and avoid them.

01:11:30.960 --> 01:11:34.960
Right. So you ought to you ought to respect the mark of your church.

01:11:34.960 --> 01:11:37.960
And if your church marks someone, you ought to avoid that person.

01:11:37.960 --> 01:11:40.960
Why? Because that's what the Bible says.

01:11:40.960 --> 01:11:44.960
That's what the word of God says is you mark them and you avoid them.

01:11:44.960 --> 01:11:49.960
You don't want to be this bleeding heart where you're aiding and abetting people that are enemies of your church.

01:11:49.960 --> 01:11:54.960
Where someone gets kicked out of church, but then everyone in the church is still friends with them except the pastor.

01:11:54.960 --> 01:11:56.960
It's like you're missing the whole point here.

01:11:56.960 --> 01:11:57.960
It's like we have to be together.

01:11:57.960 --> 01:12:00.960
We have to be a unified unit when these things are done.

01:12:00.960 --> 01:12:02.960
Go to Romans 16.

01:12:02.960 --> 01:12:06.960
Now, you know, since this principle is being brought up, we might as well just mark someone tonight.

01:12:06.960 --> 01:12:09.960
How about that? How about we mark someone tonight?

01:12:09.960 --> 01:12:15.960
Since this is a biblical thing that's being taught, you know, how about let's mark this guy named Stacey Shiflett?

01:12:15.960 --> 01:12:17.960
Who's ever heard of Stacey Shiflett?

01:12:17.960 --> 01:12:19.960
Pretty famous guy in the IFB world.

01:12:19.960 --> 01:12:24.960
He was famous around 2019, 2020 because he wrote this book Wolves Among Lambs.

01:12:24.960 --> 01:12:28.960
And it was about like surviving sexual abuse in Baptist churches.

01:12:28.960 --> 01:12:36.960
And of course, you know, his idea of protecting people from sexual abuse, I agree 100 percent with the things he said on that.

01:12:36.960 --> 01:12:40.960
The problem is that he teaches hardcore work salvation.

01:12:40.960 --> 01:12:41.960
That's the problem.

01:12:41.960 --> 01:12:44.960
And you know what? I'm glad someone's against child abuse.

01:12:44.960 --> 01:12:45.960
Great.

01:12:45.960 --> 01:12:48.960
So is every single normal person in the world.

01:12:48.960 --> 01:13:01.960
But you know what? We should mark and avoid false prophets, people that are wolves in sheep's clothing, people that creep in among us, even in the independent Baptist movement that get up and attack right salvation.

01:13:01.960 --> 01:13:03.960
And how about this attack soul winning?

01:13:03.960 --> 01:13:09.960
Because I was on Facebook this week and I saw this jerk make a post against soul winning.

01:13:09.960 --> 01:13:11.960
This is what he said.

01:13:11.960 --> 01:13:15.960
He said, what is quick prayerism?

01:13:15.960 --> 01:13:19.960
Here are a few links written by missionary David Cloud.

01:13:19.960 --> 01:13:21.960
So let's mark both of these people.

01:13:21.960 --> 01:13:24.960
David Cloud, Stacey Shiflett, that says it better than I could.

01:13:24.960 --> 01:13:30.960
I want to go on the record that I am against this unbiblical style of evangelism.

01:13:30.960 --> 01:13:33.960
So Stacey Shiflett wants to get up and say, I want to go on the record.

01:13:33.960 --> 01:13:39.960
I'm against this unbiblical style of soul winning, of evangelism, which I'm going to read some of the article to you.

01:13:39.960 --> 01:13:41.960
It's going to go on to just explain soul winning.

01:13:41.960 --> 01:13:43.960
He says, I'm against this.

01:13:43.960 --> 01:13:53.960
He says, I sincerely believe it has filled our Baptist churches with unregenerated souls and given a lot of people a false sense of security concerning salvation.

01:13:53.960 --> 01:14:00.960
You know, the person who has an unregenerate soul is Stacey Shiflett because he says you have to turn away from your sins to be saved.

01:14:00.960 --> 01:14:04.960
He says, you know, you have to repent of your sins to be saved.

01:14:04.960 --> 01:14:05.960
Guess what?

01:14:05.960 --> 01:14:07.960
That is works.

01:14:07.960 --> 01:14:09.960
The Bible says go to Romans, chapter number five.

01:14:09.960 --> 01:14:10.960
We're in the same book.

01:14:10.960 --> 01:14:12.960
Might as well look at it.

01:14:12.960 --> 01:14:15.960
You do not have to have works to be saved.

01:14:15.960 --> 01:14:16.960
And you know what?

01:14:16.960 --> 01:14:19.960
Saying you have to repent of your sins to be saved is works.

01:14:19.960 --> 01:14:21.960
Salvation is no way around it.

01:14:21.960 --> 01:14:23.960
Look at verse five of Romans four.

01:14:23.960 --> 01:14:30.960
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly.

01:14:30.960 --> 01:14:32.960
His faith is counted for righteousness.

01:14:32.960 --> 01:14:38.960
So someone has no works whatsoever, but they believe in him that justifieth the ungodly.

01:14:38.960 --> 01:14:39.960
Who is that?

01:14:39.960 --> 01:14:40.960
Jesus Christ.

01:14:40.960 --> 01:14:42.960
Hey, his faith is counted for righteousness.

01:14:42.960 --> 01:14:47.960
God looks at someone that has no works but has faith, and he sees that person as perfectly righteous.

01:14:47.960 --> 01:14:48.960
Why?

01:14:48.960 --> 01:14:51.960
Because of the imputed righteousness of Christ.

01:14:51.960 --> 01:14:52.960
And let me tell you something.

01:14:52.960 --> 01:14:55.960
You do not have to repent of any of your sins to be saved.

01:14:55.960 --> 01:15:00.960
And if someone gets up and says you have to stop sinning to be saved, that person is not saved.

01:15:00.960 --> 01:15:02.960
And that person is teaching a false gospel.

01:15:02.960 --> 01:15:03.960
That's just the truth.

01:15:03.960 --> 01:15:05.960
Now it says that we have to believe.

01:15:05.960 --> 01:15:06.960
What does it mean to believe?

01:15:06.960 --> 01:15:07.960
Go to Ephesians one.

01:15:07.960 --> 01:15:14.960
Let's let the Bible just define itself because they'll straw man us, people that attack salvation by faith.

01:15:14.960 --> 01:15:18.960
And they'll say, oh, you're just saying someone could just say the name of Jesus.

01:15:18.960 --> 01:15:22.960
Someone could just say they believe, and then they're saved.

01:15:22.960 --> 01:15:23.960
No, no, no, that's not what I'm saying.

01:15:23.960 --> 01:15:25.960
I'm saying they actually have to believe.

01:15:25.960 --> 01:15:26.960
And what does it mean to believe?

01:15:26.960 --> 01:15:29.960
Well, look what it says in verse 13 of Ephesians one.

01:15:29.960 --> 01:15:44.960
In whom that's talking about Christ, in whom you also notice trusted after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also after that you believed you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.

01:15:44.960 --> 01:15:45.960
So what happens?

01:15:45.960 --> 01:15:47.960
You hear the word of truth.

01:15:47.960 --> 01:15:49.960
You believe on Jesus Christ.

01:15:49.960 --> 01:15:50.960
What does it mean to believe?

01:15:50.960 --> 01:15:53.960
To trust in Jesus Christ.

01:15:53.960 --> 01:15:56.960
And after you've heard, after you believe what happens?

01:15:56.960 --> 01:15:58.960
You're sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.

01:15:58.960 --> 01:16:01.960
Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

01:16:01.960 --> 01:16:03.960
You hear a presentation of the gospel.

01:16:03.960 --> 01:16:04.960
You put your faith in that.

01:16:04.960 --> 01:16:05.960
You put your trust in that.

01:16:05.960 --> 01:16:07.960
What does it mean to put your trust in that?

01:16:07.960 --> 01:16:10.960
It means that, hey, only what Jesus did for me is taking me to heaven.

01:16:10.960 --> 01:16:12.960
You know, if you say, well, I stopped drinking.

01:16:12.960 --> 01:16:13.960
I repented.

01:16:13.960 --> 01:16:14.960
I repented of smoking.

01:16:14.960 --> 01:16:15.960
I repented of drinking.

01:16:15.960 --> 01:16:17.960
I repented of cussing.

01:16:17.960 --> 01:16:18.960
I repented of laziness.

01:16:18.960 --> 01:16:19.960
I repented of gluttony.

01:16:19.960 --> 01:16:21.960
I repented of lying.

01:16:21.960 --> 01:16:22.960
I repented of stealing.

01:16:22.960 --> 01:16:23.960
What are you doing?

01:16:23.960 --> 01:16:26.960
You're saying I did this work that earned my salvation.

01:16:26.960 --> 01:16:29.960
That's why repenting of your sins for salvation is work salvation.

01:16:29.960 --> 01:16:31.960
And Stacy Schiffle is not confused.

01:16:31.960 --> 01:16:33.960
He's been corrected on this so many times.

01:16:33.960 --> 01:16:35.960
He's double, triple, quadruple down on it.

01:16:35.960 --> 01:16:37.960
This man is a false prophet.

01:16:37.960 --> 01:16:39.960
He may have some sermons that might sound good.

01:16:39.960 --> 01:16:41.960
You know, you might like his cute little Southern drawl.

01:16:41.960 --> 01:16:43.960
He might, you know, attract you that way.

01:16:43.960 --> 01:16:44.960
But you know what?

01:16:44.960 --> 01:16:46.960
He's a devil is what he is.

01:16:46.960 --> 01:16:48.960
Now, let's look at this article.

01:16:48.960 --> 01:16:51.960
It's a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very,

01:16:52.960 --> 01:17:15.960
News CNN Radio Self자는 Alban Service Bier Zhong

01:17:15.960 --> 01:17:18.140
So right away, who does this guy attack?

01:17:18.140 --> 01:17:19.840
Who does this guy have a problem with?

01:17:19.840 --> 01:17:23.720
Who is this guy lamenting the influence of that still exists in this world?

01:17:23.720 --> 01:17:24.720
Jack Hiles.

01:17:24.720 --> 01:17:26.680
Really, Jack Hiles is the enemy.

01:17:26.680 --> 01:17:32.720
Jack Hiles, the one that's going out into the ghettos of Chicago and sending the buses

01:17:32.720 --> 01:17:37.420
to the poor kids, bringing them into church, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching

01:17:37.420 --> 01:17:42.040
right on standards, teaching right on the gospel, teaching right on the King James Bible,

01:17:42.120 --> 01:17:46.640
teaching right on fundamentalism, lighting a fire in this country for fundamentalism.

01:17:46.640 --> 01:17:48.440
Jack Hiles is really the problem.

01:17:48.440 --> 01:17:53.920
Oh, but Stacey Shiflett and David Cloud, these guys are the answer for sure.

01:17:53.920 --> 01:17:57.680
He says, quick prayerism is taught in most soul winning training programs.

01:17:57.680 --> 01:18:02.200
The sword of the Lord has taught quick prayerism since the 1960s, and they still publish books

01:18:02.200 --> 01:18:04.920
by Hiles and others that promote that mythology.

01:18:04.920 --> 01:18:07.920
Mythology, go to Romans 10.

01:18:07.920 --> 01:18:13.080
So preaching the gospel to them is mythology.

01:18:13.080 --> 01:18:17.960
Calling upon the name of the Lord, which they're mocking by calling it quick prayerism, which

01:18:17.960 --> 01:18:18.960
is a lie.

01:18:18.960 --> 01:18:21.160
We don't do quick prayerism.

01:18:21.160 --> 01:18:24.560
Notice what it says in verse nine, Romans 10, that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth

01:18:24.560 --> 01:18:29.280
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,

01:18:29.280 --> 01:18:30.680
thou shalt be saved.

01:18:30.680 --> 01:18:31.680
That seems pretty simple.

01:18:31.680 --> 01:18:33.560
You know who wants to make it complicated?

01:18:33.560 --> 01:18:37.880
People who want a glory in their works, glory in themselves.

01:18:37.960 --> 01:18:42.440
Look what it says in verse number 13, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the

01:18:42.440 --> 01:18:45.160
Lord shall be saved.

01:18:45.160 --> 01:18:47.840
Sounds like you call upon the name of the Lord to be saved.

01:18:47.840 --> 01:18:50.880
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?

01:18:50.880 --> 01:18:53.760
And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?

01:18:53.760 --> 01:18:56.640
And how shall they hear without a preacher?

01:18:56.640 --> 01:18:58.300
How do you believe in Jesus?

01:18:58.300 --> 01:19:00.240
You hear the word of God.

01:19:00.240 --> 01:19:01.560
How do you hear the word of God?

01:19:01.560 --> 01:19:03.640
By a preacher, the Bible says.

01:19:03.640 --> 01:19:06.680
And how shall they preach except they be sent?

01:19:06.680 --> 01:19:09.560
It says that it's written how beautiful are the feet of those that preach the gospel

01:19:09.560 --> 01:19:11.640
of peace and bring glad tidings of good things.

01:19:11.640 --> 01:19:13.560
This is what the Bible says.

01:19:13.560 --> 01:19:15.920
You're sent out to preach the gospel.

01:19:15.920 --> 01:19:18.440
Jesus said, go ye therefore into all nations.

01:19:18.440 --> 01:19:21.080
Hey, go preach the gospel to every creature.

01:19:21.080 --> 01:19:22.080
What did he do?

01:19:22.080 --> 01:19:23.880
He sent out his disciples two by two.

01:19:23.880 --> 01:19:30.360
Hey, daily in the temple and in every house they cease not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

01:19:30.360 --> 01:19:34.680
The book of Acts says, hey, the Bible calls you wise if you're a soul winner.

01:19:34.680 --> 01:19:37.080
He that winneth souls is wise, the Bible says.

01:19:37.080 --> 01:19:41.560
I mean, there's so much scripture on soul winning, how we are ambassadors for Christ.

01:19:41.560 --> 01:19:44.080
We're beseeching people in Christ's stead.

01:19:44.080 --> 01:19:46.000
Be ye reconciled to God.

01:19:46.000 --> 01:19:47.720
Faith come by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

01:19:47.720 --> 01:19:51.760
I mean, how much scripture am I just off the top of my head thinking of about soul winning?

01:19:51.760 --> 01:19:55.220
And then these people want to mock it saying, oh, it's quick prayerism.

01:19:55.220 --> 01:19:56.900
It's a mythology.

01:19:56.900 --> 01:20:03.160
Quick prayerism is an evangelistic methodology that is quick to get people to pray a sinner's

01:20:03.240 --> 01:20:09.320
prayer after a shallow gospel presentation and usually without any hint of repentance.

01:20:09.320 --> 01:20:13.880
Oh, they're mad that it's not work salvation because they are unsaved.

01:20:13.880 --> 01:20:16.840
And it's like, you know, I've made several videos.

01:20:16.840 --> 01:20:19.960
There's a whole playlist on our YouTube called Learn Soul Winning.

01:20:19.960 --> 01:20:25.160
And it's just me with a body cam in a real life evangelistic situation preaching the

01:20:25.160 --> 01:20:26.160
gospel to a real person.

01:20:26.160 --> 01:20:30.600
It's like I challenge these idiots to go watch that and tell me it's shallow.

01:20:30.600 --> 01:20:31.840
Tell me that it's not thorough.

01:20:32.000 --> 01:20:33.520
Tell me that doesn't have tons of scripture.

01:20:33.520 --> 01:20:37.880
Tell me that you're not seeing someone in front of your very eyes repent in the biblical

01:20:37.880 --> 01:20:43.840
way, meaning they're turning from trusting in Catholicism or being an atheist or trusting

01:20:43.840 --> 01:20:46.640
in their works to trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ.

01:20:46.640 --> 01:20:47.640
You know what?

01:20:47.640 --> 01:20:52.880
So winning works and we should mark and avoid any person that is even negative on soul winning.

01:20:52.880 --> 01:20:56.280
Anyone who anyone who's even negative on soul winning, you know, I want nothing to do with

01:20:56.280 --> 01:20:57.280
you.

01:20:57.280 --> 01:20:58.780
You're a hindrance to the work of God.

01:20:58.780 --> 01:21:03.020
You're trying to discourage potential soul winners from going out and fulfilling their

01:21:03.020 --> 01:21:06.420
calling in life, which is to win people to Christ.

01:21:06.420 --> 01:21:07.420
You know what?

01:21:07.420 --> 01:21:08.420
You are wicked.

01:21:08.420 --> 01:21:10.060
Notice what it says.

01:21:10.060 --> 01:21:11.060
It is quick.

01:21:11.060 --> 01:21:16.820
It is quick to pronounce those people saved and to give them assurance and to try to baptize

01:21:16.820 --> 01:21:21.100
them even if they barely show any interest in the presentation and even if they give

01:21:21.100 --> 01:21:23.420
no biblical evidence of the new birth.

01:21:23.420 --> 01:21:28.440
Frequently quick prayerism incorporates psychological salesmanship manipulation.

01:21:28.440 --> 01:21:34.100
In quick prayerism, an empty sinner's prayer has too often replaced Holy Spirit conviction

01:21:34.100 --> 01:21:36.280
and miraculous regeneration.

01:21:36.280 --> 01:21:41.080
Quick prayerism is categorized by soul winning reports that are grossly exaggerated since

01:21:41.080 --> 01:21:45.200
the number of real conversions are minute compared to the overall statistics.

01:21:45.200 --> 01:21:48.720
You know, what's funny about this article is he criticizes soul winning.

01:21:48.720 --> 01:21:49.720
He says that it doesn't work.

01:21:49.720 --> 01:21:51.080
He says over exaggerated.

01:21:51.080 --> 01:21:52.080
It's shallow.

01:21:52.080 --> 01:21:55.760
We're just trying to get people to do a quick prayer even when they're not interested.

01:21:56.760 --> 01:21:59.360
It's like where where does this guy?

01:21:59.360 --> 01:22:03.160
Where does anyone who criticized soul winning say, here's how to do it right.

01:22:03.160 --> 01:22:05.320
And here's all the awesome results I'm getting.

01:22:05.320 --> 01:22:06.700
You know, you don't see that.

01:22:06.700 --> 01:22:11.280
You don't see their bulletin where it's like, hey, thousand people saved a year, 2000, 3000,

01:22:11.280 --> 01:22:14.280
4000, 10,000 and they're doing it the right way.

01:22:14.280 --> 01:22:15.880
Hey, let me explain to you how to do it right.

01:22:15.880 --> 01:22:16.880
You're doing it the shadow way.

01:22:16.880 --> 01:22:17.880
You don't see that.

01:22:17.880 --> 01:22:21.040
All you see them do is just criticize because that's what losers do.

01:22:21.040 --> 01:22:24.880
That's all they could do is they could just criticize, try to tear down, try to make you

01:22:24.920 --> 01:22:25.920
discouraged.

01:22:25.920 --> 01:22:27.760
But, you know, he doesn't offer a solution.

01:22:27.760 --> 01:22:32.760
He says that it's grossly exaggerated and that it's shallow, really, because how is

01:22:32.760 --> 01:22:38.360
it that we make sure before someone gets saved, we recap, we make sure out of their own mouth,

01:22:38.360 --> 01:22:41.600
asking them questions so that they have to give it to you out of their own heart, that

01:22:41.600 --> 01:22:45.000
they understand that they're a sinner, that they understand that they deserve hell because

01:22:45.000 --> 01:22:50.280
of their sin, that they understand that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, that he lived

01:22:50.320 --> 01:22:55.920
a sinless life, that he sacrificed himself on the cross to be the payment for our sins,

01:22:55.920 --> 01:23:00.040
that he went to hell for three days and three nights, that he rose again bodily from the

01:23:00.040 --> 01:23:02.640
dead, that it wasn't, you know, some spirit or anything like that.

01:23:02.640 --> 01:23:06.200
He bodily rose again from the dead and that all we have to do to be saved is put all of

01:23:06.200 --> 01:23:11.120
our faith, hope, confidence, trust in what he did for us on the cross and that once we're

01:23:11.120 --> 01:23:12.320
saved, we're a child of God.

01:23:12.320 --> 01:23:13.640
Hey, it's a gift of God.

01:23:13.640 --> 01:23:14.720
It's a free gift.

01:23:14.720 --> 01:23:16.120
Once we're saved, we're always saved.

01:23:16.120 --> 01:23:18.840
I mean, we go through all of that with people.

01:23:18.880 --> 01:23:20.920
It's not one, two, three, repeat after me.

01:23:20.920 --> 01:23:22.400
It's very thorough.

01:23:22.400 --> 01:23:24.320
We make sure that someone understands it.

01:23:24.320 --> 01:23:28.040
If someone gives me any inkling that they have not understood it, I don't count that

01:23:28.040 --> 01:23:29.040
person.

01:23:29.040 --> 01:23:30.040
And you know what?

01:23:30.040 --> 01:23:33.620
I do not sit and waste my time with uninterested people.

01:23:33.620 --> 01:23:37.360
If someone is uninterested, I can't get to the next door fast enough.

01:23:37.360 --> 01:23:39.240
And I teach people to do the same.

01:23:39.240 --> 01:23:43.200
Please don't bang your head against the wall talking to someone that's not interested.

01:23:44.080 --> 01:23:48.960
Go to their neighbor who is interested because these people can can find, you know,

01:23:48.960 --> 01:23:52.920
weirdos or people that do so winning bad and then just demonize all of so winning as a

01:23:52.920 --> 01:23:53.920
result.

01:23:53.920 --> 01:23:54.920
Here's the thing.

01:23:54.920 --> 01:23:55.920
I love so winning.

01:23:55.920 --> 01:23:58.600
I promote so winning and I've seen people do so winning bad and they ended up being

01:23:58.600 --> 01:23:59.600
wolves.

01:23:59.600 --> 01:24:01.880
They ended up being these types that creep in unawares.

01:24:01.880 --> 01:24:05.440
You know, I remember this one guy who ended up being oneness and you know what?

01:24:05.440 --> 01:24:07.120
His soul winning was terrible.

01:24:07.120 --> 01:24:11.320
Someone would open the door and he would literally put his foot through the threshold so they

01:24:11.320 --> 01:24:12.600
couldn't close the door.

01:24:12.600 --> 01:24:16.320
He would go, my feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace and I'm here to get

01:24:16.320 --> 01:24:17.320
you saved.

01:24:17.320 --> 01:24:23.480
It's just like, are you trying to make people like hate Christianity and hate God or something

01:24:23.480 --> 01:24:25.700
because no one acts like that.

01:24:25.700 --> 01:24:26.780
Stop being a weirdo.

01:24:26.780 --> 01:24:27.780
Stop being a freak.

01:24:27.780 --> 01:24:31.160
So it's like, yeah, I could show you people that have done weird, stupid stuff about so

01:24:31.160 --> 01:24:32.160
winning.

01:24:32.160 --> 01:24:33.160
Does that mean so winning doesn't work?

01:24:33.160 --> 01:24:35.700
Does that mean that person's an idiot and a weirdo?

01:24:35.700 --> 01:24:39.840
It's like, can I can you show me videos on YouTube of people have no idea what they're

01:24:40.160 --> 01:24:46.160
a gun range shooting themselves in the foot, shooting off their fingers, blowing off appendages

01:24:46.160 --> 01:24:47.160
of their bodies.

01:24:47.160 --> 01:24:48.280
It's just like no guns.

01:24:48.280 --> 01:24:49.280
Get rid of all guns.

01:24:49.280 --> 01:24:51.560
No, it's just like that person's dumb.

01:24:51.560 --> 01:24:52.720
That person lacks wisdom.

01:24:52.720 --> 01:24:53.980
That person's not trained.

01:24:53.980 --> 01:24:55.960
It's like, yes, let's do so many effectively.

01:24:55.960 --> 01:24:56.960
Let's do it right.

01:24:56.960 --> 01:24:58.920
But let me tell you, so winning works.

01:24:58.920 --> 01:24:59.920
So winning is the right way.

01:24:59.920 --> 01:25:03.200
All right, he's going to keep complaining here.

01:25:03.200 --> 01:25:06.800
He says quick prayer ism is quick.

01:25:06.800 --> 01:25:08.280
Wow.

01:25:08.360 --> 01:25:12.640
An example of this was communicated to me sometime back by a pastor friend who had the

01:25:12.640 --> 01:25:16.080
following experience at a prominent independent Baptist church that operates a large Bible

01:25:16.080 --> 01:25:17.080
college.

01:25:17.080 --> 01:25:21.320
The sole winner in question is a veteran independent Baptist missionary to Japan, a man with significant

01:25:21.320 --> 01:25:23.600
influence in the independent Baptist movement.

01:25:23.600 --> 01:25:27.180
Quote, we went out with their staff on Saturday morning for soul winning.

01:25:27.180 --> 01:25:29.580
We were immediately partnered up with some of the veterans.

01:25:29.580 --> 01:25:31.880
The door we went to, we spoke to a friendly Catholic guy.

01:25:31.880 --> 01:25:34.560
And to my surprise, the guy got saved before my very eyes.

01:25:34.560 --> 01:25:36.920
This is saved in quotes.

01:25:36.920 --> 01:25:40.880
I took him from a few scripture passages to the sinner's prayer so smoothly that I was

01:25:40.880 --> 01:25:41.880
caught off guard.

01:25:41.880 --> 01:25:45.560
The lady answered the bell at one house and stood impatiently behind the screen door while

01:25:45.560 --> 01:25:48.960
the soul winner went quickly through the plan of salvation.

01:25:48.960 --> 01:25:51.760
She wanted to attend to her child who was fussing in the background, but he begged her

01:25:51.760 --> 01:25:53.620
to listen to the presentation.

01:25:53.620 --> 01:25:57.040
During the entire time she was looking back into the house, severely distracted.

01:25:57.040 --> 01:26:00.320
At the end of his presentation, he boldly demanded that she open the door partially

01:26:00.320 --> 01:26:01.720
and take his hand.

01:26:01.720 --> 01:26:04.680
She seemed shocked by his request, but she cautiously did.

01:26:04.680 --> 01:26:09.040
As he said, he then asked her if she wanted to go to heaven when she died.

01:26:09.040 --> 01:26:13.360
When she answered in the affirmative, he asked her to pray after him in the sinner's prayer,

01:26:13.360 --> 01:26:14.360
which she did.

01:26:14.360 --> 01:26:18.480
He announced her gloriously saved and she immediately closed the door and went about

01:26:18.480 --> 01:26:19.480
her business.

01:26:19.480 --> 01:26:21.020
Now, a couple of things I want to say about this.

01:26:21.020 --> 01:26:23.880
First of all, we don't even know if any of this is true.

01:26:23.880 --> 01:26:28.400
This is just one person's testimony who seems poisoned against fundamental Baptist, who

01:26:28.400 --> 01:26:30.360
seems poisoned against soul winners.

01:26:30.360 --> 01:26:33.240
Like, yeah, you know, he just went through a few passages and then went to the Romans

01:26:33.280 --> 01:26:34.720
road and he was just getting saved.

01:26:34.720 --> 01:26:36.160
And I was so shocked.

01:26:36.160 --> 01:26:40.560
First of all, for all we know, this guy could just be some hater that's just talking crap

01:26:40.560 --> 01:26:43.800
and is just, you know, trying to be down on soul winning.

01:26:43.800 --> 01:26:47.960
But here's the thing, again, even if this is true, even if there exists a soul winner

01:26:47.960 --> 01:26:53.160
out there who is super sloppy and who rushes through the gospel presentation and is trying

01:26:53.160 --> 01:26:58.900
to get 123 repeat after me again, that does not mean that soul winning doesn't work.

01:26:58.900 --> 01:27:02.140
That means you found an ineffective soul winner.

01:27:02.140 --> 01:27:07.140
It's just like, really, are we not at the understanding level to get this, folks, just

01:27:07.140 --> 01:27:09.700
because someone's bad at soul winning doesn't mean soul winning is bad.

01:27:09.700 --> 01:27:13.340
Just because I'm bad at basketball doesn't mean that there's not good basketball players

01:27:13.340 --> 01:27:14.340
in this world.

01:27:14.340 --> 01:27:15.780
I mean, that's like the same logic, right?

01:27:15.780 --> 01:27:19.900
It's like because I'm a white guy that sucks at basketball, it's just like, you know, basketball

01:27:19.900 --> 01:27:20.900
is ineffective.

01:27:20.900 --> 01:27:22.980
Shooting is ineffective because I suck at it.

01:27:22.980 --> 01:27:25.380
It's like, no, it's just like I just suck at it.

01:27:25.380 --> 01:27:27.260
And these people just suck at soul winning, apparently.

01:27:28.260 --> 01:27:32.380
Then he says this, quick prayerism is a set plan.

01:27:32.380 --> 01:27:35.260
It is a plan that is used with every individual.

01:27:35.260 --> 01:27:39.240
Okay, I love how he uses this like a criticism.

01:27:39.240 --> 01:27:42.260
So am I supposed to give a different gospel to every person?

01:27:42.260 --> 01:27:45.940
It's like faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

01:27:45.940 --> 01:27:48.340
I'm supposed to give a different message to every person.

01:27:48.340 --> 01:27:52.500
No, no, it's the same gospel that saves everyone.

01:27:52.500 --> 01:27:53.500
I like it.

01:27:53.500 --> 01:27:54.500
I use the same gospel.

01:27:54.500 --> 01:27:55.500
Hey, you're a sinner.

01:27:55.940 --> 01:27:58.940
That could be like, oh, let me think of a special substitution here.

01:27:58.940 --> 01:28:00.940
Let me give a special verse in Ecclesiastes.

01:28:00.940 --> 01:28:03.780
Let me go down the Ecclesiastes road.

01:28:03.780 --> 01:28:08.540
It's like, bro, for all of sin and short of the glory of God, use it.

01:28:08.540 --> 01:28:09.540
It works.

01:28:09.540 --> 01:28:14.020
It's the same gospel because it's the same gospel that saves everyone.

01:28:14.020 --> 01:28:17.020
I was saved by the same gospel you were saved with.

01:28:17.020 --> 01:28:22.100
And if you're not preaching the same gospel to every person, I'm worried about you.

01:28:22.100 --> 01:28:24.100
I'm really upset to hear that.

01:28:24.100 --> 01:28:27.500
You should be preaching the same gospel to every single person.

01:28:27.500 --> 01:28:32.460
Now does that mean you literally have to say the exact same words to every person?

01:28:32.460 --> 01:28:34.980
No, because people have different hangups.

01:28:34.980 --> 01:28:36.540
People have different personalities.

01:28:36.540 --> 01:28:37.540
People come from different backgrounds.

01:28:37.540 --> 01:28:41.900
You know, for example, when someone tells me they're a Jehovah's Witness, what I want

01:28:41.900 --> 01:28:43.940
to do is I want to preach that person the gospel.

01:28:43.940 --> 01:28:47.300
I don't want to sit here and argue about whether or not heaven is real.

01:28:47.300 --> 01:28:49.020
We'll cross that bridge at the end.

01:28:49.020 --> 01:28:52.500
So you know, when someone tells me, oh, I go to the Jehovah's Witness, you know, witness

01:28:52.500 --> 01:28:53.500
hall or whatever.

01:28:53.900 --> 01:28:57.900
I say, hey, more importantly than what church you go to, if you were to die today, are you

01:28:57.900 --> 01:29:00.100
100% sure that you have eternal life?

01:29:00.100 --> 01:29:02.100
I don't even use the word heaven.

01:29:02.100 --> 01:29:03.980
I say eternal life, right?

01:29:03.980 --> 01:29:07.880
Because you know, it's OK to use a little bit of differences in the in gospel presentations

01:29:07.880 --> 01:29:09.480
to try to get people saved.

01:29:09.480 --> 01:29:10.480
But you know what?

01:29:10.480 --> 01:29:11.860
As soon as they say, yes, I want to hear it.

01:29:11.860 --> 01:29:12.940
Guess what I'm going to preach about?

01:29:12.940 --> 01:29:15.740
The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

01:29:15.740 --> 01:29:16.820
Guess what I'm going to preach about?

01:29:16.820 --> 01:29:18.860
How salvation is only by faith in him.

01:29:18.860 --> 01:29:19.860
Guess what I'm going to preach about?

01:29:19.860 --> 01:29:21.580
That once you're saved, you're always saved.

01:29:21.580 --> 01:29:22.580
And guess what I'm going to do at the end?

01:29:22.660 --> 01:29:24.860
Once they understand it, I'm going to call upon the name of the Lord with them.

01:29:24.860 --> 01:29:25.860
And you know what?

01:29:25.860 --> 01:29:28.940
If those elements aren't in every single gospel, you should be worried.

01:29:28.940 --> 01:29:29.940
Oh, it's a plan.

01:29:29.940 --> 01:29:31.940
Yeah, it's a plan.

01:29:31.940 --> 01:29:33.060
God gave us his word.

01:29:33.060 --> 01:29:34.440
It hasn't changed.

01:29:34.440 --> 01:29:35.440
It's the same.

01:29:35.440 --> 01:29:38.340
Then this is another criticism he has.

01:29:38.340 --> 01:29:42.820
Quick prayerism focuses on a ticket to heaven.

01:29:42.820 --> 01:29:46.740
Quote, are you 100% sure that you will go to heaven when you die?

01:29:46.740 --> 01:29:51.380
Quote, if I could tell you how to be 100% sure that you will go to heaven when you die,

01:29:51.420 --> 01:29:54.020
you would be interested in doing that, right?

01:29:54.020 --> 01:29:56.620
So he's upset by these questions.

01:29:56.620 --> 01:30:00.060
He has a problem with these questions by asking someone if you were to die today, are you

01:30:00.060 --> 01:30:01.980
100% sure that you would go to heaven?

01:30:01.980 --> 01:30:04.020
Now, why would he have a problem with this?

01:30:04.020 --> 01:30:07.020
It's like, does he not believe that people are 100% sure?

01:30:07.020 --> 01:30:08.020
Like can you not be 100% sure?

01:30:08.020 --> 01:30:10.260
Oh, because you maybe haven't repented of enough of your sins.

01:30:10.260 --> 01:30:12.100
And so maybe that's why you're not 100% sure.

01:30:12.100 --> 01:30:15.140
Go to 1 John 5, 1 John 5.

01:30:15.140 --> 01:30:20.220
You know, one of the most frustrating things I hear out so wanting from unlearned people

01:30:20.220 --> 01:30:23.020
when you ask them if you're 100% sure if you were to die today, you go to heaven.

01:30:23.020 --> 01:30:24.380
No one could be sure.

01:30:24.380 --> 01:30:25.740
Oh, no one knows that.

01:30:25.740 --> 01:30:26.660
Only God knows that.

01:30:26.660 --> 01:30:27.900
No, you don't know that.

01:30:27.900 --> 01:30:29.780
You can't only God could judge.

01:30:29.780 --> 01:30:30.820
Really, what does the Bible say?

01:30:30.820 --> 01:30:32.700
1 John 5 verse 13.

01:30:32.700 --> 01:30:38.540
It says, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God

01:30:38.540 --> 01:30:44.820
that ye may know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.

01:30:44.820 --> 01:30:49.300
Hey, if you believe on the Son of God, you can know that you have eternal life.

01:30:49.340 --> 01:30:52.380
So you can be 100% sure that you are going to heaven.

01:30:52.380 --> 01:30:57.460
You know, I am 100% sure that if I keeled over and died right now, I would be in heaven.

01:30:57.460 --> 01:30:58.780
Why? Because I'm a good person.

01:30:58.780 --> 01:31:00.260
Nope, I'm a sinner.

01:31:00.260 --> 01:31:01.740
Nope, I need the grace of God.

01:31:01.740 --> 01:31:04.420
Here's why I'm saved is because I've trusted in Jesus Christ.

01:31:04.420 --> 01:31:05.180
That's it.

01:31:05.180 --> 01:31:07.460
That's the only reason.

01:31:07.460 --> 01:31:13.260
He says the saved person does go to heaven when he dies, but this approach is never seen in scripture.

01:31:13.260 --> 01:31:14.580
Romans 10 doesn't exist.

01:31:14.580 --> 01:31:16.140
Just don't even read it.

01:31:16.140 --> 01:31:18.820
Jesus did not use this with the Samaritan woman.

01:31:18.820 --> 01:31:21.300
Peter did not use this in Pentecost.

01:31:21.300 --> 01:31:23.500
Paul did not use this in Athens.

01:31:23.500 --> 01:31:28.580
Yeah, isn't it weird how Jesus didn't open up to Romans 3 23 when that scripture hadn't been written yet, right?

01:31:28.580 --> 01:31:30.220
So strange.

01:31:30.220 --> 01:31:35.940
The emphasis in scripture is on a new relationship with God today and forever.

01:31:35.940 --> 01:31:36.860
Really.

01:31:36.860 --> 01:31:39.060
So what must I do to be saved?

01:31:39.060 --> 01:31:41.380
Have a relationship with God.

01:31:41.380 --> 01:31:43.180
It's like, what does that mean?

01:31:43.180 --> 01:31:44.580
To have a relationship, you know what that is?

01:31:44.580 --> 01:31:45.500
Work.

01:31:45.500 --> 01:31:46.820
Like to have a relationship with your wife.

01:31:46.820 --> 01:31:48.740
It's like, hey, let's go out.

01:31:48.740 --> 01:31:49.900
Let's spend time together.

01:31:49.900 --> 01:31:50.980
Let's go to a restaurant.

01:31:50.980 --> 01:31:52.180
Let's have fun together.

01:31:52.180 --> 01:31:55.860
Like really a relationship.

01:31:55.860 --> 01:31:59.420
The emphasis in scripture is on a new relationship.

01:31:59.420 --> 01:32:02.780
Look up the word relationship in the Bible, idiot.

01:32:02.780 --> 01:32:06.060
And then look up believe and then look up faith.

01:32:06.060 --> 01:32:09.140
Let's see what the scripture actually emphasizes.

01:32:09.140 --> 01:32:12.300
It is on new life that starts now.

01:32:12.300 --> 01:32:13.620
He quotes John 17 3.

01:32:13.620 --> 01:32:18.660
And this is life eternal that they might know the the only true God in Jesus Christ,

01:32:18.660 --> 01:32:19.660
whom thou has sent.

01:32:19.660 --> 01:32:22.980
Bro, that verse literally just said that eternal life is knowing Jesus.

01:32:22.980 --> 01:32:27.100
It doesn't say eternal life is works, repenting of your sins, having a relationship.

01:32:27.100 --> 01:32:29.420
What are you talking about?

01:32:29.420 --> 01:32:30.980
He lists a whole bunch more nonsense.

01:32:30.980 --> 01:32:31.980
Let's see if I can get down.

01:32:31.980 --> 01:32:35.900
He says quick prayerism uses a sailmanship program.

01:32:35.900 --> 01:32:39.940
He said Jack Hiles taught dozens of psychological tricks.

01:32:39.940 --> 01:32:43.820
Consider how he used prayer to manipulate individuals.

01:32:43.820 --> 01:32:44.820
Quote.

01:32:44.820 --> 01:32:46.820
This is supposedly a quote from Jack Hiles.

01:32:46.820 --> 01:32:47.820
I don't even know if it is.

01:32:48.180 --> 01:32:51.660
He says there are several ways to do this, but you must try to get them to pray.

01:32:51.660 --> 01:32:54.620
If he is really ready, say, could I pray for you?

01:32:54.620 --> 01:32:58.180
And while I pray, would you pray and ask God to save you today?

01:32:58.180 --> 01:32:59.820
Maybe he is not quite that ready.

01:32:59.820 --> 01:33:00.900
Maybe you don't know.

01:33:00.900 --> 01:33:03.960
You could say, could I pray that you will get saved?

01:33:03.960 --> 01:33:07.060
Maybe you don't think he will let you pray for him to get saved.

01:33:07.060 --> 01:33:11.180
Then you could say, could I have a word of prayer with you before I go?

01:33:11.180 --> 01:33:13.900
Anyway, to get your head bowed is good.

01:33:13.900 --> 01:33:16.820
If you are talking to him, he might interrupt.

01:33:16.820 --> 01:33:18.780
But if you are talking to the Lord, he won't.

01:33:18.780 --> 01:33:21.160
You can preach him a little sermon in the prayer.

01:33:21.160 --> 01:33:25.300
If you can't win a fellow to Christ and if he won't let you present the plan to him,

01:33:25.300 --> 01:33:28.980
the best way to tell him how to be saved is to tell the Lord and let the sinner hear

01:33:28.980 --> 01:33:29.980
you.

01:33:29.980 --> 01:33:30.980
Quote.

01:33:30.980 --> 01:33:32.980
I go into a home and say, sir, would you like me to know?

01:33:32.980 --> 01:33:34.260
Would you like to know how to be saved?

01:33:34.260 --> 01:33:36.300
No, I don't have time for it.

01:33:36.300 --> 01:33:39.740
Could I have a prayer for your wife before we go that she will feel well?

01:33:39.740 --> 01:33:43.500
With his wife laying there sick, a man would be a fool not to let the preacher pray for

01:33:43.500 --> 01:33:44.500
her.

01:33:44.500 --> 01:33:45.500
He says, well, OK.

01:33:46.500 --> 01:33:50.860
Bless this wife and make her well and help this man to know that Romans 3 23 says, as

01:33:50.860 --> 01:33:54.140
it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.

01:33:54.140 --> 01:33:58.060
And if people die in their sins, according to Romans 6 23, the wages of sin is death.

01:33:58.060 --> 01:34:01.060
Oh, dear Lord, show him that Romans 5 28 is true.

01:34:01.060 --> 01:34:05.780
And it says that God committed his love toward us and that while we were yet sinners, pray

01:34:05.780 --> 01:34:06.780
him the plan.

01:34:06.780 --> 01:34:08.220
He won't interrupt you.

01:34:08.220 --> 01:34:12.540
You can get by with a lot of things talking to the Lord that you wouldn't get talking

01:34:12.540 --> 01:34:13.540
to him.

01:34:13.860 --> 01:34:14.860
You know, it's like.

01:34:15.860 --> 01:34:17.260
Am I really recommending people do this?

01:34:17.260 --> 01:34:18.260
Not necessarily.

01:34:18.260 --> 01:34:22.020
Like, am I going to hate on a guy that's just like so zealous for soul winning?

01:34:22.020 --> 01:34:24.340
Let me pray for your sick wife.

01:34:24.340 --> 01:34:27.980
It's like, you know, and it's just like the smoke of their torment to set it up.

01:34:27.980 --> 01:34:31.660
You know, I hope that this person understands that hell is a real place, a fiery torment.

01:34:31.660 --> 01:34:34.260
The Bible says the smoke of their torment to send it up forever and ever, and they have

01:34:34.260 --> 01:34:35.260
no rest day or night.

01:34:35.260 --> 01:34:37.980
I don't want a sick wife to go there and have that happen to her.

01:34:37.980 --> 01:34:40.820
And so I want to like, I guess someone does that.

01:34:40.820 --> 01:34:43.460
Like, am I really just going to hate them and act like like this person's just

01:34:43.460 --> 01:34:44.460
zealous?

01:34:44.460 --> 01:34:45.820
Pastor Jack Hiles is just zealous.

01:34:45.820 --> 01:34:46.820
You know what?

01:34:46.820 --> 01:34:47.820
You know what his crime here is?

01:34:47.820 --> 01:34:49.180
He just loves people a lot.

01:34:49.180 --> 01:34:50.620
He just loves that sick woman.

01:34:50.620 --> 01:34:51.620
He loves this man.

01:34:51.620 --> 01:34:52.620
And you know what?

01:34:52.620 --> 01:34:53.620
This person doesn't want to hear it.

01:34:53.620 --> 01:34:54.900
He just wants to preach to them anyways.

01:34:54.900 --> 01:34:57.580
You know, I think you should preach to people that want to hear.

01:34:57.580 --> 01:35:00.020
I think you should spend your time to be the one to hear the gospel.

01:35:00.020 --> 01:35:03.820
But it's like really with all the issues in the world, I'm not going to get mad at Jack

01:35:03.820 --> 01:35:07.340
Hiles for praying the gospel presentation to someone.

01:35:07.340 --> 01:35:09.340
It's kind of funny, honestly.

01:35:09.340 --> 01:35:11.700
He says, I always stop in the middle of my prayer.

01:35:11.700 --> 01:35:13.740
I say, Dear Lord, lead this man to be saved.

01:35:13.740 --> 01:35:16.420
You led me here and I pray that he will be saved today.

01:35:16.420 --> 01:35:19.820
May his wife have a Christian husband and the little children, a Christian daddy.

01:35:19.820 --> 01:35:22.180
May this be the day of his salvation.

01:35:22.180 --> 01:35:26.300
Now with while our heads are bowed in prayer, Mr. Doe, would you be willing today to ask

01:35:26.300 --> 01:35:29.220
God to forgive you and tell him you want to be saved?

01:35:29.220 --> 01:35:31.740
He goes on and on and on what this person says.

01:35:31.740 --> 01:35:34.340
This is a cheap psychological manipulation.

01:35:34.340 --> 01:35:39.940
It's like the Bible says that some of some have compassion making a difference and others

01:35:40.460 --> 01:35:42.780
save with fear, pulling them out of the fire.

01:35:42.780 --> 01:35:47.800
Could you call it a psychological manipulation to tell someone, Hey, if you don't get saved,

01:35:47.800 --> 01:35:51.460
you're going to spend eternity on fire in torment.

01:35:51.460 --> 01:35:52.680
You're going to be conscious.

01:35:52.680 --> 01:35:55.740
You're going to be experiencing the wrath of God forever and ever.

01:35:55.740 --> 01:35:57.060
Is that manipulating someone?

01:35:57.060 --> 01:35:58.060
Sure.

01:35:58.060 --> 01:35:59.060
You could say that's emotionally manipulated.

01:35:59.060 --> 01:36:00.060
But you know what?

01:36:00.060 --> 01:36:03.760
It's good to do that because the Bible says that some have compassion making a difference

01:36:03.760 --> 01:36:06.020
and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire.

01:36:06.020 --> 01:36:07.380
You know, this is more the compassion.

01:36:07.380 --> 01:36:09.580
Hey, can I pray for your sick wife?

01:36:10.220 --> 01:36:12.340
Hey, that's with compassion.

01:36:12.340 --> 01:36:13.900
Praise God for Jack Hiles.

01:36:13.900 --> 01:36:15.580
Praise God for any soul winner in this world.

01:36:15.580 --> 01:36:19.300
You know what others say with fear, other people, you got to scare the hell out of them.

01:36:19.300 --> 01:36:23.120
Brother Cameron told me this week, someone listened to him and at the end said, you scared

01:36:23.120 --> 01:36:25.660
me when you told me that I was not saved.

01:36:25.660 --> 01:36:27.860
That's good.

01:36:27.860 --> 01:36:31.020
Quick prayerism focuses on a sinner's prayer.

01:36:31.020 --> 01:36:33.740
An example of a sinner's prayer is the following.

01:36:33.740 --> 01:36:35.380
Dear Jesus, I know I'm a sinner.

01:36:35.380 --> 01:36:36.940
I know I deserve hell for my sins.

01:36:36.940 --> 01:36:40.580
I believe you died for me and I'm trusting you to save me from hell and give me the gift

01:36:40.580 --> 01:36:41.580
of eternal life.

01:36:41.580 --> 01:36:43.140
Thank you, Jesus, for saving me.

01:36:43.140 --> 01:36:44.140
Amen.

01:36:44.140 --> 01:36:45.140
What's wrong with that?

01:36:45.140 --> 01:36:46.140
That's perfect.

01:36:46.140 --> 01:36:50.540
I mean, that is almost exactly what I help people pray when we do the sinner's prayer.

01:36:50.540 --> 01:36:52.940
This is what Stacy Shiflett is criticizing.

01:36:52.940 --> 01:36:55.940
This is what Stacy Shiflett wants to get up and say, let it be known.

01:36:55.940 --> 01:37:00.940
Let me go on the record right now that I'm against this unscriptural method of evangelism.

01:37:00.940 --> 01:37:03.380
OK, well, then show us the right way.

01:37:03.380 --> 01:37:04.820
Where's the right way?

01:37:04.820 --> 01:37:06.980
Where's your thousands of people saved?

01:37:06.980 --> 01:37:08.980
Where's your tens of thousands of people saved?

01:37:08.980 --> 01:37:10.340
How long have you been a pastor?

01:37:10.340 --> 01:37:12.420
How many people have you gotten saved?

01:37:12.420 --> 01:37:14.700
Probably less than Jack Hiles, if I had to guess.

01:37:14.700 --> 01:37:15.700
Just a few.

01:37:15.700 --> 01:37:20.620
As far as I could tell, the sinner's prayer can be traced to about the middle of the 20th

01:37:20.620 --> 01:37:21.620
century.

01:37:21.620 --> 01:37:25.580
No, it's Lord Jesus, remember us thou me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

01:37:25.580 --> 01:37:28.940
It can go back all the way to the Bible, buddy.

01:37:28.940 --> 01:37:31.820
He says Billy Graham popularized the sinner's prayer.

01:37:31.820 --> 01:37:33.100
No, he didn't.

01:37:33.100 --> 01:37:34.740
It's in the Bible.

01:37:34.740 --> 01:37:38.300
He says it was Jack Hiles who popularized the sinner's prayer, soul winning amongst

01:37:38.300 --> 01:37:40.140
independent Baptists.

01:37:40.140 --> 01:37:42.100
Here's his other problem he has with it.

01:37:42.100 --> 01:37:44.180
Quick prayerism ignores repentance.

01:37:44.180 --> 01:37:45.580
Well, you know what?

01:37:45.580 --> 01:37:48.580
Show me that you have to repent of your sins to be saved in the Bible because it doesn't

01:37:48.580 --> 01:37:49.780
exist.

01:37:49.780 --> 01:37:54.460
You know what the Bible says is that, you know, John preached the baptism of repentance,

01:37:54.460 --> 01:37:59.900
saying unto the people that they should believe on him, talking about Jesus Christ.

01:37:59.900 --> 01:38:04.020
Repentance biblically for salvation is turning from not trusting in Christ to trusting in

01:38:04.060 --> 01:38:08.140
Christ, from trusting in idols, trusting in Islam, trusting in thalassism, trusting

01:38:08.140 --> 01:38:11.140
in your repenting of your sins to trusting in Christ.

01:38:11.140 --> 01:38:13.460
That's salvation.

01:38:13.460 --> 01:38:17.980
The quick prayerism program gives security to those who pray the sinner's prayer.

01:38:17.980 --> 01:38:20.540
Some churches give them a spiritual birth certificate.

01:38:20.540 --> 01:38:24.180
After Hiles led someone in sinner's prayer, he would say, let me ask you this question

01:38:24.180 --> 01:38:27.700
now according to this book, where would you go if you died right now to heaven?

01:38:27.700 --> 01:38:29.620
That means you are God's child.

01:38:29.620 --> 01:38:32.740
I totally lost the spot.

01:38:32.740 --> 01:38:35.780
Now suppose somebody asks you tomorrow, Mr. Doe, are you a Christian?

01:38:35.780 --> 01:38:37.100
When did you become a Christian?

01:38:37.100 --> 01:38:38.500
What are you going to tell them?

01:38:38.500 --> 01:38:39.500
Yesterday.

01:38:39.500 --> 01:38:40.500
I like it.

01:38:40.500 --> 01:38:44.020
You know, this this person has understood that, hey, before the soul went to reach his

01:38:44.020 --> 01:38:46.620
door, he was not saved because he was not trusting in Christ.

01:38:46.620 --> 01:38:48.260
He was trusting in something else.

01:38:48.260 --> 01:38:51.660
And Pastor Hiles is getting this person to say, hey, when I got here, you believe something

01:38:51.660 --> 01:38:52.660
different.

01:38:52.660 --> 01:38:53.660
Now you've trusted in Christ.

01:38:53.660 --> 01:38:54.660
Now you're saved.

01:38:54.660 --> 01:38:56.340
I'm not going to go through the rest of this trash.

01:38:56.340 --> 01:38:59.900
But you know, Roman 16 just kind of gave me a freebie right there to mark someone.

01:38:59.900 --> 01:39:01.820
Go back to Roman 16.

01:39:01.900 --> 01:39:06.180
You know, we ought to mark and avoid people that cause divisions.

01:39:06.180 --> 01:39:07.180
You know what?

01:39:07.180 --> 01:39:11.980
I take it as an offense to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to the Lord himself when someone

01:39:11.980 --> 01:39:13.860
gets up and attacks soul winning.

01:39:13.860 --> 01:39:14.860
So you know what?

01:39:14.860 --> 01:39:21.220
David Cloud and Stacey Shiflett are wicked false prophets that should be marked and avoided.

01:39:21.220 --> 01:39:22.420
Don't share his book.

01:39:22.420 --> 01:39:23.720
Don't share his stuff.

01:39:23.720 --> 01:39:28.460
This guy is evil, wanting to get up on the record and say, I'm against this unbiblical

01:39:28.460 --> 01:39:29.460
garbage.

01:39:29.460 --> 01:39:35.060
Verse 17, I beseech you, brethren, mark them, which caused divisions and offenses contrary

01:39:35.060 --> 01:39:37.900
to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them.

01:39:37.900 --> 01:39:38.900
Why?

01:39:38.900 --> 01:39:44.540
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly and by good

01:39:44.540 --> 01:39:49.260
words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

01:39:49.260 --> 01:39:51.900
Notice they're preaching trash.

01:39:51.900 --> 01:39:54.100
They're preaching false doctrine.

01:39:54.100 --> 01:39:58.920
They're teaching terrible things, but they use good words and fair speeches.

01:39:58.920 --> 01:40:00.120
They sound nice.

01:40:00.120 --> 01:40:01.120
They sound sweet.

01:40:01.120 --> 01:40:06.800
They sound convincing to who specifically to other idiots, to foolish people.

01:40:06.800 --> 01:40:11.400
That's why he says, hey, they deceive the hearts of the simple.

01:40:11.400 --> 01:40:18.000
Look, the Bible says if someone is causing division, if someone is preaching false doctrine,

01:40:18.000 --> 01:40:22.440
that is a bad person and you have to trust God's word on that.

01:40:22.440 --> 01:40:25.240
You can't say, but I know, but I know this person's good.

01:40:25.240 --> 01:40:27.240
Oh, but I know this person's nice.

01:40:27.560 --> 01:40:30.000
Oh, but you know the good words, but the fair speeches.

01:40:30.000 --> 01:40:31.000
No, no, no.

01:40:31.000 --> 01:40:36.200
Did you see what God's word revealed to us is that they serve not our Lord Jesus Christ,

01:40:36.200 --> 01:40:37.200
but their own bellies.

01:40:37.200 --> 01:40:42.260
And it's like, who are you going to trust your fallible opinion of someone, your fallible

01:40:42.260 --> 01:40:46.520
perception of a preacher or God's word when it straight up says when they're teaching

01:40:46.520 --> 01:40:50.160
false doctrine, when they're teaching doctrine contrary to that which we've heard when they're

01:40:50.160 --> 01:40:53.840
causing division, it means they are a bad person.

01:40:54.440 --> 01:40:58.720
Hey, when you hear false doctrine being preached, that is a should be big red flags going off

01:40:58.720 --> 01:40:59.720
in your mind.

01:40:59.720 --> 01:41:00.720
And you know what?

01:41:00.720 --> 01:41:04.320
You should never listen to someone that just gets up and preaches false doctrine.

01:41:04.320 --> 01:41:05.480
And you know what?

01:41:05.480 --> 01:41:09.660
Even amongst saved people, if a pastor is getting up and he's just delivering sermon

01:41:09.660 --> 01:41:14.120
after sermon where lies are being taught, false doctrines being taught, you know what?

01:41:14.120 --> 01:41:17.720
Heresy is one of the works of the flesh and you shouldn't listen to someone who's so backslidden

01:41:17.720 --> 01:41:22.240
and worldly and just filled with this world's philosophies and filled with the stupidity

01:41:22.240 --> 01:41:23.240
of this world.

01:41:23.240 --> 01:41:24.240
You know what?

01:41:24.240 --> 01:41:26.360
That's an indication of a bad person to follow.

01:41:26.360 --> 01:41:29.200
You should pay attention to the doctrine that's being preached.

01:41:29.200 --> 01:41:34.000
Then he says in verse 19, for your obedience has come abroad unto all men.

01:41:34.000 --> 01:41:39.360
I am glad therefore on your behalf, but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good

01:41:39.360 --> 01:41:41.080
and simple concerning evil.

01:41:41.080 --> 01:41:46.300
If you want to get really good at spotting evil at spotting air at spotting false doctrine,

01:41:46.300 --> 01:41:50.800
get really good at learning the Bible, at knowing the scripture, knowing the truth,

01:41:50.800 --> 01:41:52.280
being wise unto that which is good.

01:41:52.320 --> 01:41:53.320
And you know what?

01:41:53.320 --> 01:41:57.240
We don't have to sit here and spend too much time digging into the evil because we know

01:41:57.240 --> 01:41:58.240
it's evil.

01:41:58.240 --> 01:42:03.520
Verse 20, and the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.

01:42:03.520 --> 01:42:05.800
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

01:42:05.800 --> 01:42:13.040
Of course, it's a throwback to Genesis three, how the Lord Jesus Christ would crush Satan's

01:42:13.040 --> 01:42:17.740
head and that's a promise that's been to God's people all the way from Genesis all the way

01:42:17.740 --> 01:42:19.200
to Romans 16.

01:42:19.200 --> 01:42:22.000
It's something that we could take as a promise too that's saying, hey, you know what?

01:42:22.720 --> 01:42:23.720
We're on the winning side.

01:42:23.720 --> 01:42:27.080
The Lord Jesus Christ is going to destroy the devil someday.

01:42:27.080 --> 01:42:34.840
Verse 21, Timotheus, my work fellow in Lucius and Jason and so Sippitur, my kinsmen, salute

01:42:34.840 --> 01:42:35.840
you.

01:42:35.840 --> 01:42:38.120
So these are his work fellows, people he's with.

01:42:38.120 --> 01:42:41.080
Of course, Timotheus is Timothy.

01:42:41.080 --> 01:42:43.880
He calls him his dearly beloved son in the faith.

01:42:43.880 --> 01:42:47.640
We're studying 2 Timothy 1 right now, one of Paul's closest friends.

01:42:47.640 --> 01:42:49.080
He's with him.

01:42:49.160 --> 01:42:54.600
Verse 22, I, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.

01:42:54.600 --> 01:42:58.440
So of course, this was a handwritten letter and whose hand was physically penning down

01:42:58.440 --> 01:43:01.360
the words is this man, Tertius.

01:43:01.360 --> 01:43:03.960
And of course, the Apostle Paul is probably dictating that.

01:43:03.960 --> 01:43:07.320
I've told you guys before why I believe that that was happening is because I believe the

01:43:07.320 --> 01:43:09.600
Apostle Paul had issues with his eyes.

01:43:09.600 --> 01:43:11.920
So he had this scribe writing this down.

01:43:11.920 --> 01:43:13.640
And so Tertius got to do that.

01:43:13.640 --> 01:43:16.580
Kind of like it's a good example of how we got the word of God, by the way, because holy

01:43:16.580 --> 01:43:20.140
men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

01:43:20.140 --> 01:43:24.860
Exodus 20 verse one says, and God spake all these words saying so the word of God is 100

01:43:24.860 --> 01:43:26.300
percent God's word.

01:43:26.300 --> 01:43:27.300
God spake it.

01:43:27.300 --> 01:43:28.900
But yet, oh, yeah, man wrote it down.

01:43:28.900 --> 01:43:32.860
But it's still God's word, just like how this is Paul's word, even though Tertius wrote

01:43:32.860 --> 01:43:33.860
it down.

01:43:33.860 --> 01:43:35.060
It's like, oh, that Bible was written by man.

01:43:35.060 --> 01:43:36.060
Yeah, it was.

01:43:36.060 --> 01:43:37.060
And it was also written by God.

01:43:37.060 --> 01:43:38.060
Next question.

01:43:38.060 --> 01:43:42.980
Verse 23, Gaius, my host and of the whole church, salute with you.

01:43:43.020 --> 01:43:45.900
Erastus, the chamberlain of the city, salute with you.

01:43:45.900 --> 01:43:47.220
Cortus, a brother.

01:43:47.220 --> 01:43:51.100
That's kind of interesting that the chamberlain of the city, Erastus, is sending greetings

01:43:51.100 --> 01:43:53.380
to the Christians at Rome.

01:43:53.380 --> 01:43:55.780
Seems to indicate that this chamberlain got saved.

01:43:55.780 --> 01:43:59.400
And so, you know, you don't want to write off every single person that's in a position

01:43:59.400 --> 01:44:03.500
of authority just saying like any person in authority is a reprobate.

01:44:03.500 --> 01:44:06.500
You kind of get this idea from immature Christians.

01:44:06.500 --> 01:44:11.520
Every judge, every person in political office, every police officer, they're all just reprobates

01:44:11.520 --> 01:44:12.520
or something like that.

01:44:12.560 --> 01:44:13.560
And it's like, you know what?

01:44:13.560 --> 01:44:15.640
If I saw a cop, I'd preach him the gospel.

01:44:15.640 --> 01:44:17.480
If I got a day with a judge, I'd preach him the gospel.

01:44:17.480 --> 01:44:20.040
If I got to talk to a mayor, I'd preach him the gospel.

01:44:20.040 --> 01:44:22.160
You know, this chamberlain, he got saved.

01:44:22.160 --> 01:44:25.480
When I lived in Hearst, Texas, the mayor of that city was saved.

01:44:25.480 --> 01:44:28.880
You know, I know that because the soul winner had said fast, check this salvation, and he

01:44:28.880 --> 01:44:29.880
was saved.

01:44:29.880 --> 01:44:32.080
So it's like, there could be saved people in these positions.

01:44:32.080 --> 01:44:36.120
We don't want to just write them off completely.

01:44:36.120 --> 01:44:38.840
Verse 24, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

01:44:38.840 --> 01:44:39.840
Amen.

01:44:39.840 --> 01:44:44.800
I am that is of power to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ,

01:44:44.800 --> 01:44:49.760
according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.

01:44:49.760 --> 01:44:55.180
So the details of the gospel, the name of Jesus Christ, those things were not revealed

01:44:55.180 --> 01:44:59.080
with clarity like it is now to the people of the Old Testament.

01:44:59.080 --> 01:45:01.720
But notice Jesus was always the plan.

01:45:01.720 --> 01:45:06.600
It was saying, hey, the mystery of the gospel, which was kept secret from the foundation

01:45:06.600 --> 01:45:07.600
of the world.

01:45:07.600 --> 01:45:08.600
What does that mean?

01:45:09.600 --> 01:45:12.400
What was the plan for people's salvation from the foundation of the world?

01:45:12.400 --> 01:45:18.120
Don't buy into this hyper dispensational nonsense that there's multiple gospels.

01:45:18.120 --> 01:45:24.120
But it says in verse 26, but now is made manifest and by the scriptures, the prophets, according

01:45:24.120 --> 01:45:29.360
to the commandment of the everlasting God made known to all nations for the obedience of

01:45:29.360 --> 01:45:34.360
faith to God only wise be glory through Jesus Christ forever.

01:45:34.360 --> 01:45:35.360
Amen.

01:45:35.960 --> 01:45:39.560
So you know, just in totality here, the Book of Romans, what is it?

01:45:39.560 --> 01:45:44.160
It's a group of pretty great Christians, it seems like it's a group that whose faith has

01:45:44.160 --> 01:45:45.880
been heard throughout the whole world.

01:45:45.880 --> 01:45:49.520
In fact, we'll close, go ahead and go to Romans, chapter number one, Romans, chapter number

01:45:49.520 --> 01:45:50.520
one.

01:45:50.520 --> 01:45:55.520
It's a very doctrinal book where he's kind of explaining, you know, how Jews and Gentiles

01:45:55.520 --> 01:45:57.600
are one in Christ Jesus.

01:45:57.600 --> 01:46:01.080
Just about all the major doctrines of the New Testament are found in the Book of Romans.

01:46:01.080 --> 01:46:04.680
And in Romans 16, he's shouting out all the people that's helped him, all the people that's

01:46:04.680 --> 01:46:05.680
blessed him.

01:46:05.680 --> 01:46:08.640
He's, you know, talking about all these good people that exist.

01:46:08.640 --> 01:46:12.760
And notice what a great group that this was, because it says in verse number eight or verse

01:46:12.760 --> 01:46:16.760
seven to all that be in Rome, beloved of God called to be saints, grace to you and peace

01:46:16.760 --> 01:46:19.360
from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

01:46:19.360 --> 01:46:23.920
Notice first, I think by God through Christ Jesus for you all that your faith is spoken

01:46:23.920 --> 01:46:27.440
of throughout the whole world.

01:46:27.440 --> 01:46:29.600
This was a great group of Christians right here.

01:46:30.600 --> 01:46:35.040
your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

01:46:35.040 --> 01:46:36.040
And guess what?

01:46:36.040 --> 01:46:38.600
These were just normal people just like me and you.

01:46:38.600 --> 01:46:42.560
These were just normal congregations, just like anchor Baptist Church.

01:46:42.560 --> 01:46:47.200
But you know, I believe that the works that we are doing here can be rippled out throughout

01:46:47.200 --> 01:46:50.480
this whole world from this small church here in Oklahoma City.

01:46:50.480 --> 01:46:56.320
You know, if we follow the teachings of God's word, if we actually strive to have unity,

01:46:56.320 --> 01:47:01.640
like you talked about in chapter 15 to all speak with one mind, with one mouth, if we're

01:47:01.640 --> 01:47:07.080
actually willing to mark and avoid those that cause false doctrines, you know, we could

01:47:07.080 --> 01:47:08.880
be a great group as well.

01:47:08.880 --> 01:47:10.280
Our influence can go out into the whole world.

01:47:10.280 --> 01:47:11.680
And you know, why would we want that?

01:47:11.680 --> 01:47:13.200
Just so that our name could be out to the whole world?

01:47:13.200 --> 01:47:14.840
No, that doesn't matter whatsoever.

01:47:14.840 --> 01:47:15.840
That's completely vain.

01:47:15.840 --> 01:47:16.960
But here's what we want.

01:47:16.960 --> 01:47:19.040
We want the same thing the Apostle Paul want.

01:47:19.040 --> 01:47:23.000
We wanted is to get the gospel of Jesus Christ out to the whole world.

01:47:23.000 --> 01:47:24.800
He's not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

01:47:24.960 --> 01:47:26.960
Hey, it's the power of God and the salvation.

01:47:27.200 --> 01:47:29.480
That's what we want to go out throughout the whole world.

01:47:29.720 --> 01:47:30.680
That's our church's goal.

01:47:30.680 --> 01:47:33.560
Let's pray. Lord, thank you so much for the Book of Romans.

01:47:34.240 --> 01:47:38.560
I pray that you just help us to take these truths that we've learned and just sink them

01:47:38.560 --> 01:47:40.800
deep down into our hearts to apply them to our lives.

01:47:41.320 --> 01:47:45.560
I pray the Anker Baptist Church would be a church of great unity, that we'd be unified

01:47:45.560 --> 01:47:50.640
around the truth, around soul winning, around zeal for doctrine, that we would be willing

01:47:50.720 --> 01:47:56.120
to endure afflictions, to fight the good fight, that we'd be willing to call out the names

01:47:56.520 --> 01:47:58.720
to mark and avoid wicked individuals.

01:47:59.120 --> 01:48:00.920
And please bless our works going forward.

01:48:01.120 --> 01:48:02.320
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

01:48:11.840 --> 01:48:17.560
This time we'll turn to our last hymn for the evening, number 263.

01:48:21.640 --> 01:48:29.640
Hymn number 263, 263, Verily, verily.

01:48:36.640 --> 01:48:39.640
263 there on the first.

01:48:39.640 --> 01:48:45.640
Oh, what a Savior that he died for me.

01:48:46.640 --> 01:48:51.640
From condemnation he and they be free.

01:48:52.640 --> 01:49:03.640
Evacue me with all the suns, and be that everlasting light.

01:49:04.640 --> 01:49:09.640
Verily, verily I say unto you.

01:49:10.640 --> 01:49:15.640
Verily, verily message ever due.

01:49:16.640 --> 01:49:27.640
Be glad to leave it, for the sun is true, and everlasting light.

01:49:28.640 --> 01:49:40.640
All my inequities on him were laid, all my indebtedness by him was paid.

01:49:40.640 --> 01:49:52.640
All who believe on him the Lord hath sent, hath everlasting light.

01:49:52.640 --> 01:49:57.640
Verily, verily I say unto you.

01:49:58.640 --> 01:50:03.640
Verily, verily message ever due.

01:50:04.640 --> 01:50:15.640
Be glad to leave it, for the sun is true, and everlasting light.

01:50:16.640 --> 01:50:28.640
Though for any I can trust my Lord, though weak and simple I believe his word.

01:50:28.640 --> 01:50:39.640
Oh, what message every child of God hath everlasting light.

01:50:40.640 --> 01:50:45.640
Verily, verily I say unto you.

01:50:46.640 --> 01:50:51.640
Verily, verily message ever due.

01:50:52.640 --> 01:51:03.640
Be glad to leave it, for the sun is true, and everlasting light.

01:51:04.640 --> 01:51:16.640
Though all over the earth I will not doubt, for in that groundeth he will not cast down.

01:51:16.640 --> 01:51:27.640
He that believeth all the good works shall be that everlasting light.

01:51:28.640 --> 01:51:33.640
Verily, verily I say unto you.

01:51:34.640 --> 01:51:39.640
Verily, verily message ever due.

01:51:40.640 --> 01:51:51.640
Be glad to leave it, for the sun is true, and everlasting light.
