Thank you for being here this evening and appreciate whether for reading the scripture for us. 00:13:21.420 --> 00:13:25.090 And we're going to try to break some of this down for you. 00:13:25.090 --> 00:13:32.140 I've been titled a message of fiery and we actually have about four that I'll be mentioning. 00:13:32.140 --> 00:13:40.360 But our story begins with the 28th, 1983. 00:13:40.360 --> 00:13:48.890 I'll tell you, you probably wouldn't remember what happened there, but it was on TV for several days. 00:13:48.890 --> 00:14:02.190 I heard about the Waco Massacre or the Waco Tobacco. It's called a number of things, but it happened. 00:14:02.190 --> 00:14:11.560 February the 28th, 1983 actually began the story. 00:14:11.560 --> 00:14:20.800 Janet Reno, anybody remember her? 00:14:20.800 --> 00:14:27.170 She was the Attorney General of the United States under President Bill Clinton. 00:14:27.170 --> 00:14:38.140 She gave orders to attack a group called the Branch Davidians. 00:14:38.140 --> 00:14:42.570 David Koresh was a leader of that cult. 00:14:42.570 --> 00:14:50.100 She gave the orders for the FBI to go in and do what they had to do. 00:14:50.100 --> 00:14:58.180 The thing is, if they did, they ought not to have done. 00:14:58.180 --> 00:15:05.870 They went in shooting with guns in the so-called compound out here in Waco, Texas 00:15:05.870 --> 00:15:11.460 of where the Branch Davidians were operating. 00:15:11.460 --> 00:15:17.700 Branch Davidians, they called themself, was a split off, the seventh day had finished. 00:15:17.700 --> 00:15:30.700 The government was on them, they didn't like them, and anyway, they came in on them with guns. 00:15:30.700 --> 00:15:38.300 In February, a lot of the FBI agents were killed. 00:15:38.300 --> 00:15:42.720 Naturally, that made the government alarmed over what had happened. 00:15:42.720 --> 00:15:56.840 The next thing that happened was on the news, world observed going on in Waco. 00:15:56.840 --> 00:16:09.010 A lot of the Davidians were holed up in the compound, and they refused to come out. 00:16:09.010 --> 00:16:15.600 Any of you all remember any of that? Any of you perhaps old enough to remember being on watching television, seeing it? 00:16:15.600 --> 00:16:26.590 I had at least a couple here that would remember it. 00:16:26.590 --> 00:16:37.230 Waco, matter of fact, it got to be showing on TV all the time, and everybody was expecting to hear the news about what was going on in Waco. 00:16:37.230 --> 00:16:47.160 Naturally, that made our government look weak or bad, so the ultimate way was they attacked the Davidians. 00:16:47.160 --> 00:16:54.970 The Davidians holed themselves up and were not willing to come out. 00:16:54.970 --> 00:16:59.730 They all made fun about it in those days. 00:16:59.730 --> 00:17:05.230 They said, "Do you know what Waco stands for? We ain't coming out." 00:17:05.230 --> 00:17:11.130 Basically, that's what they said. 00:17:11.130 --> 00:17:24.530 Fifty-one days, they battled each other, and it came down to a showdown, a shootout. 00:17:24.530 --> 00:17:37.650 And everybody saw it in horror as flames engulfed and burned all those people up, a bunch of children when that happened. 00:17:37.650 --> 00:17:45.460 Everybody just, themselves, as they looked, it unfolded as those people that were dying. 00:17:45.460 --> 00:17:52.490 That was about 82, I think they said, that died, 82 people. 00:17:52.490 --> 00:18:06.870 They came to a fire end, but the Waco event took the lives of 82 people who weren't coming back. 00:18:06.870 --> 00:18:15.640 They were burned to death, whoever went into the compound. 00:18:15.640 --> 00:18:19.700 We don't know for sure all the names and what have you of the people that did that. 00:18:19.700 --> 00:18:26.980 They were guilty, but they were. Fast forward now two years to the day. 00:18:26.980 --> 00:18:40.480 By the way, today, April the 19th, is the anniversary of the shooting in Waco. 00:18:40.480 --> 00:18:44.770 It's also the anniversary of the shooting in Oklahoma. 00:18:44.770 --> 00:18:54.450 My oldest sister sat at her desk where she worked in Oklahoma City. 00:18:54.450 --> 00:19:01.820 When all of a sudden, she said the whole world sounded like it was coming to an end. 00:19:01.820 --> 00:19:11.100 Called her the chain of events in Waco. 00:19:11.100 --> 00:19:21.990 Man by the name of, I don't even think of her name right now. 00:19:21.990 --> 00:19:33.390 But Terry, anybody want to help me? Scripture says God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but he also knows where sin leads. 00:22:35.380 --> 00:22:41.600 Sin grows and grows and grows. It had undated the people seeing that. 00:22:41.600 --> 00:22:57.250 As plain as the Scripture is, homosexuality had crept in and destroyed that generation. 00:22:57.250 --> 00:23:02.720 God had all he could take. I can tell you where it was. 00:24:00.520 --> 00:24:08.530 The breakdown was with the parents that didn't take care of the children or didn't watch over or teach them. 00:24:08.530 --> 00:24:19.070 And a lot of those children, we assume, especially if they rejected Christ, we know that they didn't make it to heaven. 00:24:19.070 --> 00:24:20.980 And they're going to be where they're at for an eternity. 00:24:20.980 --> 00:24:40.960 It broke my mind, Christ, and I've stood here for 50 years basically trying to proclaim Christ as our Savior and our Lord. 00:24:40.960 --> 00:24:50.390 We've challenged the people over the period of time, their parents, to take care of their children and raise them up in the right way. 00:24:50.390 --> 00:24:57.380 If they don't, they're going to die and go to hell. 00:24:57.380 --> 00:25:18.120 Don't think about it. He was talking to an atheist. He got it right on, and I thank the Lord. I appreciate so much what this church is doing now as soul winning. 00:33:07.580 --> 00:33:17.280 That's the business of the church. That's why the Lord set the church up, was to win souls. You're proven it. You're proof of it. 00:33:17.280 --> 00:33:30.080 Over the 63 years that I've been a pastor and knocked on doors and visited with people, we didn't call it soul winning, but in essence that's what it was. 00:33:30.080 --> 00:33:44.760 We weren't as successful, and the reason being, I guess we thought we had to baptize all of them, and I thought that.
