I exaggerated by 10 times. 30:16.540 --> 30:20.540 But that's not the first time we lied about the number of people who died during a Holocaust. 30:20.540 --> 30:24.540 Anyways, the thing is, I wanted to cover, 30:24.540 --> 30:28.540 If it's not about the Koreans, what is this about? 30:28.540 --> 30:30.540 It's the idea that we're on a walk with God, 30:30.540 --> 30:34.540 And that we're actually trying to walk and go in this race diligently as Christian soldiers, 30:34.540 --> 30:37.540 And that there has to be a march done in due order, 30:37.540 --> 30:41.540 But also something with the word arduous means. 30:41.540 --> 30:45.540 Basically it's just something that requires a lot of effort, 30:45.540 --> 30:50.540 It's hard and demanding, and very difficult and exhausting, strenuous and laborious. 30:50.540 --> 30:52.540 And so the thing is that in our Christian life, 30:52.540 --> 30:55.540 The reason I want to talk about it being somewhat of an arduous march, 30:55.540 --> 30:57.540 Is that just in this story here, in Matthew, 30:57.540 --> 31:00.540 And Matthew would talk about Noah, is that Noah was told to build an ark, 31:00.540 --> 31:03.540 And it took several years. It wasn't something that was being done overnight. 31:03.540 --> 31:07.540 And so the thing is, how is it that people are then mocking Noah, 31:07.540 --> 31:11.540 Knowing that he knows when the flood is going to come and take everybody away, 31:11.540 --> 31:14.540 And then they're being married, being given into marriage, 31:14.540 --> 31:18.540 And enjoying their life not knowing that God is actually going to take all of them away. 31:18.540 --> 31:23.540 And so the thing is, the theme here is that in our Christian walk, 31:23.540 --> 31:27.540 We may be doing things that not everybody seems to approve of, 31:27.540 --> 31:29.540 Especially from our carnal family members, 31:29.540 --> 31:32.540 And I think a lot of us here are first generation Christians, 31:32.540 --> 31:39.540 Being that we're not really put in a household where we are fortunate to have parents that were already saved. 31:39.540 --> 31:42.540 So when you tell them, hey, I do door knocking, 31:42.540 --> 31:46.540 Hey, I do soul winning, right, they don't understand what's the profitability of that. 31:46.540 --> 31:49.540 Or many of us making incredible journeys to come to church, 31:49.540 --> 31:54.540 Or even to move a great distance just to be at a soul winning church, right. 31:54.540 --> 31:57.540 And so I guess the question that comes up to a lot, at least for me, 31:57.540 --> 32:02.540 Is like, hey, what profit do you have in your life? 32:02.540 --> 32:07.540 And really like when you tell them like, hey, I'm just here to serve God, they don't really understand. 32:07.540 --> 32:09.540 And that can sometimes be discouraging. 32:09.540 --> 32:14.540 And something I want to go through with you guys is that, yeah, sometimes it is life, 32:14.540 --> 32:16.540 Our Christian life does seem a little bit laborious, 32:16.540 --> 32:21.540 And we don't really see that fruit and those positive outcomes in our lives, 32:21.540 --> 32:24.540 Especially when there's a lot of promises that God has given us. 32:24.540 --> 32:30.540 And so something I want to also jump to is in Joshua chapter six. 32:30.540 --> 32:36.540 And so a little bit of a teaser here is that Joshua is being told to surround this great city. 32:36.540 --> 32:38.540 And basically they're told to encircle it. 32:38.540 --> 32:41.540 And I guess I'll just read from verse three, right. 32:41.540 --> 32:47.540 And it says, And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. 32:47.540 --> 32:54.540 Thou do six days, and seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of ram horns. 32:54.540 --> 32:59.540 And the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 32:59.540 --> 33:05.540 And it shall come to pass that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, 33:05.540 --> 33:09.540 And when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout, 33:09.540 --> 33:14.540 And the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up, every man straight before them. 33:14.540 --> 33:20.540 So the thing is that I think a lot of us when we come into rough times, 33:20.540 --> 33:25.540 We tend to perceive that we kind of have to follow basically like, Okay, screw the faith part. 33:25.540 --> 33:27.540 I'm going to try to be extremely pragmatic about it. 33:27.540 --> 33:32.540 And so just a personal anecdote for me was one of my first jobs was actually at American Airlines. 33:32.540 --> 33:34.540 And I was a contractor. 33:34.540 --> 33:37.540 I was hopefully going to transition from being an employee to a full time. 33:37.540 --> 33:44.540 And so basically what ended up happening is that I ended up getting laid off in the holidays. 33:44.540 --> 33:50.540 And before then, though, there was basically this voucher to basically buy all this equipment, 33:50.540 --> 33:53.540 And then you send them a receipt, and then they'll compensate you. 33:53.540 --> 34:00.540 So I guess after losing my job, I could have spent all day actually applying for new work, not going to church. 34:00.540 --> 34:05.540 But I essentially decided that that Sunday I was going to like leave it up to God and say, 34:05.540 --> 34:10.540 Hey, I have ran into this great trouble. I was a fool. I shouldn't have done this and that. 34:10.540 --> 34:13.540 And I was like, No, but I'm going to go to church. I'm going to soul in the entire day there. 34:13.540 --> 34:20.540 And with unprompted everything, I had a brother there who actually was just like, Oh, yeah, I was going to have eye surgery, but they covered it. 34:20.540 --> 34:25.540 You can just have it. And so he paid off my entire all my dues for everything I needed. 34:25.540 --> 34:34.540 Now, again, I'm not saying like as a happy go lucky, you know, like, but this is more so like, I, it doesn't make it make sense to be like whenever you're troubled to make a decision to like, 34:34.540 --> 34:40.540 I'm going to go to church. I'm going to serve God today. I'm going to put my troubles aside and hope leave to him to resolve. 34:40.540 --> 34:46.540 But commonly, I guess for serendipity, right. Good coincidences is that that's how it usually been for my life. 34:46.540 --> 34:52.540 And it just gives a testimony and also as encouragement for you that, Hey, Joshua here was basically being told to encircle the city, 34:52.540 --> 34:59.540 not to actually carnally like set up preparations and have all these ballistas and different ways to mount the walls and assault it on their own. 34:59.540 --> 35:06.540 But it's just a nonchalantly walk around and circle the city seven times of little horn and then and then leave and say, I'll see you guys for the next seven days doing this. 35:06.540 --> 35:11.540 Right. And then we go to verse 20 and see what happens when they do this procedure. 35:11.540 --> 35:21.540 Right. So the people shouted when the priest blew with the trumpets and it came to pass when the people heard the sound of the trumpet and the people shadowed with a great shout that the wall fell down flat. 35:21.540 --> 35:25.540 So the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 35:26.540 --> 35:35.540 So that's the thing, right. Is that sometimes, though, for us, and this Arduous in this case in our walk with God is that sometimes we're not going to see the immediate fruit of our labor for like sometimes like, oh, I'll see it next week. 35:38.540 --> 35:41.540 No, no. Next month may not be there or even sometimes years. 35:41.540 --> 35:45.540 And I know a lot of people have labored very hard and travail to even have children. 35:45.540 --> 35:48.540 And I'm glad God has finally blessed many of you. 35:48.540 --> 35:53.540 And that's the thing, though, is that does that mean that we're going to start falling out of church to then resort to carnal means to resolve our issues? 35:53.540 --> 36:01.540 No. Most of the times that's actually an occasion and a call to actually double down on our faith to double down on doing the right things of God and have faith that he will sort it out in his due time. 36:02.540 --> 36:07.540 Right. And so another thing I want to go to is Ephesians two, if you may. 36:08.540 --> 36:17.540 And so speaking on that point, a lot of times like this is just saying that comment, at least with my family, is that unfortunately, I don't know what the acronym is. 36:18.540 --> 36:25.540 But basically, like they the woman they I think it's called IVF, where they take out the eggs and try to fertilize and put it back. 36:25.540 --> 36:30.540 The thing is, is like we don't want to try to then resort when in doubt or when we're not. 36:30.540 --> 36:35.540 We don't think that we can like a lot of Christians assume that they like God just answer them at their beck and call. 36:35.540 --> 36:37.540 Right. Which is not how it works. 36:37.540 --> 36:39.540 It's all again on his timing. Right. 36:39.540 --> 36:41.540 And so when's it happening is that you don't get the fruit you want. 36:41.540 --> 36:44.540 I think many younger Christians end up having kind of like a tantrum with God. 36:44.540 --> 36:50.540 And then they kind of just like resort to try to like I'm going to go solve it my own way to these resort to these own carnal methods. 36:50.540 --> 36:59.540 And a lot of them essentially is like resort to is essentially childbearing, either doing IVF or even in other areas where it's like, oh, I'm not receiving the income or things I need. 36:59.540 --> 37:05.540 I need to actually like make a decision to actually avoid church on a Sunday or Wednesday night to so I can do these optional overtime hours. 37:05.540 --> 37:07.540 I don't think that's the wisest thing to do. 37:07.540 --> 37:14.540 I really do believe that if we work with God all your might in those given hours and make that dedication to God, I think you'd get a lot farther in your Christian walk. 37:14.540 --> 37:17.540 But just to echo on that, it's a few. 37:17.540 --> 37:18.540 We'll start at verse one. 37:18.540 --> 37:19.540 Right. 37:19.540 --> 37:36.540 And you have he quicken who were dead and trespasses and sins, wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience, among whom also we had all our conversation in times past in the lust of our flesh. 37:36.540 --> 37:42.540 Fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 37:42.540 --> 37:51.540 But God, who is rich in mercy for his great love, where he loved us, even when he we were dead in sins, have quicken us together in Christ by grace. 37:51.540 --> 37:57.540 You are saved and have raised up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. 37:58.540 --> 38:06.540 So essentially what I'm trying to point out here is that there are these children with people in the world who are unsaved are going and really just follow our children of disobedience. 38:06.540 --> 38:10.540 Following the world is usually by many means following the devil. 38:10.540 --> 38:11.540 Right. 38:10.540 --> 38:17.540 As Pastor Ross presented earlier this morning, a lot of women were presented with this idea, this false idea about like being independent, being the CEO boss. 38:17.540 --> 38:18.540 Right. 38:18.540 --> 38:20.540 That that that is following the world. 38:20.540 --> 38:23.540 That is being those women are following a life in disobedience. 38:23.540 --> 38:25.540 And that's what the world brings you. 38:25.540 --> 38:26.540 Right. 38:25.540 --> 38:40.540 So we are although we don't see those carnal fruits, we have the faith that, hey, in all labor there is profit and that God has made many promises to us that, hey, in Hebrew six, I believe, paraphrasing is when Abraham diligently worked for those promises. 38:40.540 --> 38:47.540 He actually gained those and that we also should patiently wait for those promises that God has made to us. 38:47.540 --> 38:53.540 And so another verse I'd like for you to go to is finally is a Ephesians chapter four. 38:53.540 --> 39:01.540 And but speaking on that point is that we although the world can make fun of us and mock us for a time. 39:01.540 --> 39:04.540 What's really funny is that there's a Twitter post a long time ago. 39:04.540 --> 39:05.540 I forgot I had the meme of it. 39:05.540 --> 39:12.540 But essentially it was that how many times do Christians always get accused of doing the slippery slope fallacy where it's like, oh, first you're good. 39:12.540 --> 39:20.540 If you're telling that all you're telling women should just be in the kitchen and then like you're going this far that all of a sudden there's gonna be like, but no, like many of the times we're actually proven true. 39:20.540 --> 39:21.540 Right. 39:21.540 --> 39:26.540 And that's what I guess like where we fall in faith because we were saying that, hey, this is what the Bible says. 39:26.540 --> 39:28.540 This is what is considered a sin. 39:28.540 --> 39:33.540 Although we don't always know why something is deemed a sin, we should just obey it because that's what says in the Word of God. 39:33.540 --> 39:41.540 And we should do those things that they've not like, hey, you know, f around and find out where it's like I wonder what happens if I like, you know, screw around here and break these laws and you're like testing the waters. 39:41.540 --> 39:42.540 Well, God's merciful to you. 39:42.540 --> 39:46.540 But that doesn't mean that should we sin that grace shall bound God forbid. 39:46.540 --> 39:47.540 Right. 39:47.540 --> 39:57.540 You should not be abusing God's grace and saying, oh, yeah, that means he's approving it again, just as much as the fruit of our good works will come to in some time. 39:57.540 --> 40:01.540 So sometimes with the punishment of God, right, both by his grace and mercy. 40:01.540 --> 40:29.540 But in verse 17 of Ephesians four, I just wanted to speak on this is as this I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord that you henceforth walk not as the other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darken being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their heart, who being past feeling have given themselves into lasciviousness to walk all uncleanness with greediness. 40:30.540 --> 40:32.540 But ye are not so. says that, hey, those people are following the blindness of their heart and their and then through the uncleanness with greediness and that we being knowing Christ should also believe and trust in those promises set before us to be better Christians and to be able to see it finish our work. 41:25.540 --> 41:29.540 And then we're going to have to race, I guess, and have God say, well done, my that gathereth in summer is a wise son, but he that sleepeth and harvest is a son that causes shame. 42:39.540 --> 42:44.540 And so the title of my sermon this evening is don't sleep and harvest. 42:44.540 --> 42:54.540 Now, we as saved Christians, we've been called not to a physical harvest, but to the spiritual harvest of getting souls saved. 42:54.540 --> 43:07.540 Jesus said, Pray therefore the Lord of the vineyard that he would send forth more laborers into his vineyard for the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 43:08.540 --> 43:19.540 And so we should we're all saved, but we should not be sleeping in the harvest because it says he that sleepeth and harvest is a son that causes shame. 43:19.540 --> 43:27.540 And so Jesus, he has commanded us to go and preach to people and to reap the harvest of getting souls saved. 43:27.540 --> 43:31.540 He said, Go ye therefore and preach the gospel to every creature. 43:31.540 --> 43:32.540 And. 43:32.540 --> 43:37.540 The Bible, that's the command of God, and Jesus expects us to do that. 43:37.540 --> 43:40.540 Let's go to Proverbs 18. 43:40.540 --> 43:42.540 It says. 43:42.540 --> 43:50.540 In Proverbs 18, verse nine, it says he also that is slothful in his work is brother to him. 43:50.540 --> 43:52.540 That is a great waster. 43:52.540 --> 43:59.540 Now, it'll be a great waste if you spend your if you get saved and you spend your whole life in the garden of the Lord. 43:59.540 --> 44:03.540 You're saved and you spend your whole life and you don't get anyone saved. 44:03.540 --> 44:04.540 That's a great waste. 44:04.540 --> 44:07.540 And what that also means is that you're just a lazy Christian. 44:07.540 --> 44:10.540 He that is slothful in his work is brother to him. 44:10.540 --> 44:11.540 That is a great waster. 44:11.540 --> 44:13.540 So don't waste your life. 44:13.540 --> 44:19.540 You need to get people safe and go to Romans 13. 44:19.540 --> 44:26.540 And getting people saved really is just loving your neighbor because. 44:26.540 --> 44:30.540 You're not really loving anyone if you don't get them to heaven. 44:30.540 --> 44:32.540 You can do all the carnal good you want. 44:32.540 --> 44:35.540 You can follow all the commandments perfectly. 44:35.540 --> 44:36.540 You can't. 44:36.540 --> 44:40.540 But if you could do that and then get no one saved, you're not helping anyone else. 44:40.540 --> 44:42.540 You're not loving anyone else. 44:42.540 --> 44:49.540 If you could follow all the other commandments, but then not love your neighbor, not preach them the gospel, you're breaking the law. 44:49.540 --> 44:55.540 It says in Romans 13, it says in verse eight, it says, oh, no man. 44:55.540 --> 45:04.540 Anything but to love one another for he that loveth another has fulfilled the law for this thou shalt not commit adultery. 45:04.540 --> 45:05.540 Thou shalt not kill. 45:05.540 --> 45:06.540 Thou shalt not steal. 45:06.540 --> 45:08.540 Thou shalt not bear false witness. 45:08.540 --> 45:09.540 Thou shalt not covet. 45:09.540 --> 45:17.540 And if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 45:17.540 --> 45:20.540 Love worketh no ill to his neighbor. 45:20.540 --> 45:23.540 Therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law. 45:23.540 --> 45:25.540 So love is the fulfilling of the law. 45:25.540 --> 45:31.540 And the way we love our neighbor is by preaching the gospel to every preacher and getting them saved. 45:31.540 --> 45:38.540 Now, the Bible teaches that we should go and get people saved. 45:38.540 --> 45:44.540 But and it's emphasized over and over in the Bible, we constantly hear it preached by preachers. 45:44.540 --> 45:52.540 And it's and let's read the next verse because it says in verse 11, it says, and that's the first verse. 45:52.540 --> 46:01.540 11, it says, and that knowing the time that now it is high time to awake out of sleep for now is our salvation nearer than when we believe the night is far spent. 46:01.540 --> 46:03.540 The day is at hand. 46:03.540 --> 46:09.540 Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light. 46:09.540 --> 46:11.540 So the Bible says the night is far spent. 46:11.540 --> 46:12.540 The day is at hand. 46:12.540 --> 46:13.540 It's like you're sleeping. 46:13.540 --> 46:17.540 And then when you get saved, it's like you're awake. 46:17.540 --> 46:25.540 But what what if you get saved and then you never become a soul winner and you never go out soul winning? 46:25.540 --> 46:36.540 It's like if you have an alarm clock going off in the morning because you have to go to work, but you're always just like snooze like the alarm clock says. 46:36.540 --> 46:42.540 It says let us cast off the works of darkness. 46:42.540 --> 46:45.540 So alarm clock says cast off the works of darkness. 46:45.540 --> 46:48.540 You say, no, I'm going to continue in my fornication. 46:48.540 --> 46:50.540 I'm going to continue in my not going to church. 46:50.540 --> 46:55.540 I'm going to continue in my drunkenness or the alarm clock says, let us put on the armor of light. 46:55.540 --> 46:58.540 And you say, no, I'm going to snooze that. 46:58.540 --> 46:59.540 I'm going to read my Bible. 46:59.540 --> 47:01.540 Not right now. 47:01.540 --> 47:03.540 I'm going to put that off for later. 47:03.540 --> 47:07.540 I'm not going to walk in truth. 47:08.540 --> 47:15.540 If you just snooze that and snooze it and snooze it, you're going to be a son that causes shame because you're you're sleep. 47:15.540 --> 47:19.540 You're not a son that gathers in summer, but you're a son that's sleeping in harvest. 47:19.540 --> 47:31.540 Now, what you should do is when you hear the alarm clock of God's word saying that you should not fornicate, you should put off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 47:31.540 --> 47:32.540 You should respond to that. 47:32.540 --> 47:40.540 Instead of pressing the snooze button on the alarm clock and disobeying, you should rather obey it and get to work. 47:40.540 --> 47:46.540 And so that way you can be a wise son and not a son that causes shame. 47:46.540 --> 47:59.540 Now, by laboring in the harvest, it's not like it's for nothing because you actually get rewards in heaven for going soul winning. 47:59.540 --> 48:05.540 Go to First Corinthians, Chapter three, First Corinthians, Chapter three. 48:11.540 --> 48:22.540 It says in First Corinthians, Chapter three, it says in verse five, it says, Who then is Paul and who is a Paulist? 48:22.540 --> 48:30.540 But ministers by whom he believed, even as the Lord gave to every man, I have planted a Paulist watered, but God gave the increase. 48:30.540 --> 48:36.540 So then neither is he that planted anything, neither he that water it, but God that gave it the increase. 48:36.540 --> 48:44.540 Now, he that planted and he that water it are one and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. 48:44.540 --> 48:48.540 So the Bible says that we will receive our reward according to our labor. 48:48.540 --> 48:54.540 When you go and you get people saved, when you go and do that, God will reward you. 48:54.540 --> 48:58.540 And it's not just in this life. 48:58.540 --> 49:02.540 You'll receive blessings in this blessings and favor from God in this life. 49:02.540 --> 49:08.540 But what's much more important is that you'll also receive blessings in the afterlife when you go to heaven. 49:08.540 --> 49:19.540 It says in verse ten, according to the grace of God, which is given unto me as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation and another buildeth thereon. 49:19.540 --> 49:28.540 But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon for other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 49:28.540 --> 49:33.540 So when you get saved, you have that foundation, that base of the building. 49:33.540 --> 49:46.540 It says, Now, if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, every man's work shall be made manifest for the day shall declare it because it shall be revealed by fire. 49:46.540 --> 49:50.540 And the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 49:50.540 --> 49:55.540 If any man's work abide, which he has built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 49:55.540 --> 49:58.540 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss. 49:58.540 --> 50:00.540 But he himself shall be saved. 50:00.540 --> 50:02.540 Yet so as by fire. 50:02.540 --> 50:06.540 And so in this life, we get the opportunity to do works. 50:06.540 --> 50:14.540 We can either do wood, hay, stubble, which are stuff, things that do not matter in eternity, and they're going to be burned up when our works are tried. 50:14.540 --> 50:22.540 Or we can lay up gold, silver, precious stones by laboring in spiritual things and getting people saved. 50:22.540 --> 50:26.540 And so we have the foundation of Jesus Christ. 50:26.540 --> 50:33.540 And even if the whole building burns down, the foundation is still there because once you're saved, you can never lose your salvation. 50:33.540 --> 50:35.540 You have the foundation forever. 50:35.540 --> 50:39.540 But you build your life upon that foundation. 50:39.540 --> 50:48.540 And then what you're left with at the end is whatever the whatever comes out after your works were tried with fire. 50:48.540 --> 50:53.540 And so if any man's work abide, which he had built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 50:53.540 --> 50:56.540 And we will be rewarded for the good works that we do. 50:56.540 --> 50:58.540 And that should motivate us. 50:58.540 --> 51:07.540 It's not wrong motivation to say, I'm going soul winning because I want rewards in heaven or I'm going soul winning because I don't want to be poor in heaven. 51:07.540 --> 51:09.540 That's not bad motivation. 51:09.540 --> 51:15.540 And so we have that promise. 51:15.540 --> 51:22.540 Let's go to Daniel, Chapter 12. 51:22.540 --> 51:35.540 In Daniel, Chapter 12, Verse two, it says, And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 51:35.540 --> 51:43.540 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever. 51:43.540 --> 51:50.540 And so in the end of the world, some people, those who are saved are going to awake to everlasting life. 51:50.540 --> 51:54.540 But those who are not, they're going to awake to shame and everlasting contempt. 51:54.540 --> 52:02.540 But it says they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever. 52:02.540 --> 52:08.540 So if you turn many to righteousness, you're going to have a brighter glory or more rewards in heaven. 52:08.540 --> 52:15.540 And it's wise to win souls because if you don't, you're just the son that's sleeping in a harvest. 52:15.540 --> 52:22.540 You're getting nothing accomplished and you'll be ashamed when you reach the end of your life and you've done nothing. 52:22.540 --> 52:27.540 Now, let's look at Second Samuel, Chapter 15. 52:27.540 --> 52:36.540 Second Samuel, Chapter 15. 52:36.540 --> 52:41.540 This is Absalom. 52:41.540 --> 52:46.540 It says, let's read verse to it. 52:46.540 --> 52:51.540 It says, And Absalom rose up early and stood beside the way of the gate. 52:51.540 --> 52:59.540 And it was so that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him and said, Of what city art thou? 52:59.540 --> 53:02.540 And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. 53:02.540 --> 53:06.540 And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right. 53:06.540 --> 53:09.540 But there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee. 53:09.540 --> 53:17.540 Absalom said moreover, Oh, that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice. 53:17.540 --> 53:24.540 And it was so that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand and took him and kissed him. 53:24.540 --> 53:29.540 And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment. 53:29.540 --> 53:33.540 So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. 53:33.540 --> 53:44.540 And it came to pass after 40 years that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the Lord in Hebrew. 53:44.540 --> 53:51.540 And so it says that Absalom did this thing where he was stealing away the hearts of the men of Israel. 53:51.540 --> 54:01.540 He was trying to make his father David look bad by saying he seems to just be lying about David is what it seems like. 54:01.540 --> 54:05.540 That David doesn't care about your problems. 54:05.540 --> 54:08.540 If I was if I was judging the land, I would fix all your problems. 54:08.540 --> 54:10.540 I would take care of you. 54:10.540 --> 54:16.540 He's probably also flattering people because it's unlikely that 100 percent of people who go to judgment are the ones in the right. 54:16.540 --> 54:19.540 Because when there's a judgment, half of them are right. 54:19.540 --> 54:20.540 Half of them are wrong. 54:20.540 --> 54:22.540 So it's probably just flattering a ton of people. 54:22.540 --> 54:24.540 And he so he's being a wicked man. 54:24.540 --> 54:26.540 But look how diligent he is. 54:26.540 --> 54:29.540 In verse two, it says that an Absalom rose up early. 54:29.540 --> 54:34.540 So he's getting up early, presumably every day, presumably for 40 years. 54:34.540 --> 54:37.540 Look how diligent he is in doing this wickedness. 54:37.540 --> 54:42.540 And so the Bible says that there are people who weary themselves to commit iniquity. 54:42.540 --> 54:49.540 But let us be people who are more diligent than that and are diligent to do the right things. 54:49.540 --> 54:53.540 Now, do you want to let Absalom outdo you in diligence? 54:54.540 --> 55:00.540 He may have spent 40 years flattering people and doing that wickedness. 55:00.540 --> 55:04.540 But let us be people who for the next 40 years go soul winning. 55:04.540 --> 55:09.540 Let's let's do more than 40 years as long as we can until we die. 55:09.540 --> 55:13.540 Go to Luke, chapter two. 55:13.540 --> 55:18.540 And this this is the good version of what we just read. 55:18.540 --> 55:23.540 Instead of doing wickedness, this is a woman that's doing righteousness. 55:23.540 --> 55:30.540 It says in verse Luke, chapter two, verse 36, it says, 55:48.540 --> 55:53.540 So this Anna, she was married and it looks like she had a husband for seven years. 55:53.540 --> 55:55.540 And then he died. 55:55.540 --> 55:57.540 She became widowed. 55:57.540 --> 56:07.540 And it says that she was a widow of about four score and four years, most likely either meaning that she's 84 years old at that point. 56:07.540 --> 56:10.540 And she was married to a man who was a widow. 56:10.540 --> 56:13.540 And she was married to a man who was a widow. 56:14.540 --> 56:22.540 Or that it's 84 years old since 84 years since her husband died. 56:22.540 --> 56:27.540 But either way, she's been very diligent and faithful for a long time. 56:27.540 --> 56:32.540 Speaking to all in Jerusalem that look for salvation. 56:32.540 --> 56:34.540 And so she's getting people saved there. 56:34.540 --> 56:36.540 She's being a prophetess. 56:36.540 --> 56:37.540 She's being diligent. 56:37.540 --> 56:45.700 She is spending all that time in her life preaching the gospel and laboring in righteousness. 56:45.700 --> 56:55.180 Let that be what we do and let us not let Absalom get a better track record of being 56:55.180 --> 56:56.300 58:02.100 --> 58:07.500 way like we as a people are not the same as this other people, whatever that means, talking 58:07.500 --> 58:09.700 about nations. 58:09.700 --> 58:14.300 But I want to speak on biblical ways in which we are not the same. 58:14.300 --> 58:21.180 So first of all, I do want to I do want to caveat first that we are the same as other 58:21.940 --> 58:28.100 in the sense that we're all humans, we're all sinners, and we all need God's grace. 58:28.100 --> 58:32.220 So first I want to say that because we're not the same kind of as has this like very 58:32.220 --> 58:35.780 separatist kind of thing like I'm superior or something. 58:35.780 --> 58:39.980 But I want to start out on a level playground, which is that we're all humans, we're all 58:39.980 --> 58:44.260 sinners and we all need God's grace. 58:44.260 --> 58:46.940 In the flesh, we're all the same. 58:46.940 --> 58:54.100 So but first of all, my flesh and my spirit are not the same. 58:54.100 --> 58:56.780 So we are not the same. 58:56.780 --> 59:02.180 And so Romans 7, 18 says, For I know that in me that is in my flesh. 59:02.180 --> 59:08.420 Thou art if no good thing, for to will is present with me, but how to perform that which 59:08.420 --> 59:10.620 is good I find not. 59:10.620 --> 59:15.740 For the good that I would do, that I would I do not. 59:15.740 --> 59:19.060 But the evil which I would not, that I do. 59:19.060 --> 59:25.340 Now if I do that which I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth 59:25.340 --> 59:26.380 in me. 59:26.380 --> 59:33.620 I 01:00:07.460 --> 01:00:11.060 It says that the flesh is not the same as the spirit. 01:00:11.060 --> 01:00:14.980 That is a very important distinction I try to make when I am soul winning. 01:00:14.980 --> 01:00:20.100 Because that is something that people get very confused with when it comes to words. 01:00:20.100 --> 01:00:31.900 So 2 Corinthians 4, 16 says, for which cause we faint not, but though our outward man perish, 01:00:32.580 --> 01:00:38.020 yet the inward man is renewed day by day for our light affliction which is but for a moment 01:00:38.020 --> 01:00:44.340 worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 01:00:44.340 --> 01:00:49.100 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, 01:00:49.100 --> 01:00:56.460 for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 01:00:57.020 --> 01:01:01.740 So the things which are seen are temporal, our body, and the things which are not seen 01:01:01.740 --> 01:01:04.340 are eternal, our spirit. 01:01:04.340 --> 01:01:05.900 But these things are not the same. 01:01:05.900 --> 01:01:07.900 They inhabit the same something that really makes me cringe lately. 01:01:31.820 --> 01:01:39.420 I've heard a lot, even soul winning, but lately I hear a lot of Catholics pretending to be 01:01:39.420 --> 01:01:43.820 Christians saying like Catholics and Christians are the same. 01:01:43.820 --> 01:01:47.140 But let me tell you something, we're not the same. 01:01:47.140 --> 01:01:52.700 So I'm not even going to get into doctrine when it comes to that because it's so clear 01:01:53.020 --> 01:01:57.620 there's so many glaring examples of how we're different. 01:01:57.620 --> 01:02:04.340 But I do want to say this, I mean they'll even tell you that, they'll say it a lot of 01:02:04.340 --> 01:02:13.340 times so they'll identify as Christians so that to kind of sneak in, sneak in undetected, 01:02:13.340 --> 01:02:18.460 taking advantage of how little doctrine people know. 01:02:18.500 --> 01:02:24.580 But their bad doctrine, what happens is that the bad doctrine of Catholic or Catholicism 01:02:24.580 --> 01:02:30.780 infects the hearts and minds of many that, like I said, don't really know a lot of doctrine. 01:02:30.780 --> 01:02:37.420 So if you go to Matthew 16 verse 6, I'll read it, it says, 01:02:37.420 --> 01:02:42.420 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the 01:02:42.420 --> 01:02:44.620 Sadducees. 01:02:44.620 --> 01:02:49.740 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread, which 01:02:49.740 --> 01:02:56.260 when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, Oh you little faith, why reason ye among yourselves? 01:02:56.260 --> 01:02:58.940 Because ye have brought no bread. 01:02:58.940 --> 01:03:07.420 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how 01:03:07.420 --> 01:03:10.140 many baskets ye took up? 01:03:10.140 --> 01:03:15.980 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many baskets ye took up? 01:03:15.980 --> 01:03:22.060 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that 01:03:22.060 --> 01:03:25.660 ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 01:03:25.660 --> 01:03:31.940 Then understood they how that he bowed them, not beware of the leaven of bread, but of 01:03:31.940 --> 01:03:35.620 the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 01:03:35.620 --> 01:03:43.180 So in this case, bad or false doctrine is leaven and leaven spreads. 01:03:43.180 --> 01:03:46.700 So especially if you let it spread. 01:03:46.700 --> 01:03:50.660 That's why a little leaven, leaven is a whole lump. 01:03:50.660 --> 01:03:55.340 If a church is infected with bad doctrine, especially if that false doctrine is let to 01:03:55.340 --> 01:04:02.020 spread or let alone if it's established as official doctrine, it's going to have all 01:04:02.020 --> 01:04:08.700 sorts of wrong things that we should beware of. 01:04:08.700 --> 01:04:13.380 So beware of the Catholic Church. 01:04:13.380 --> 01:04:16.220 We're not the same. 01:04:16.220 --> 01:04:25.340 And so third and last for today is that not only are we different and we're not the same 01:04:26.140 --> 01:04:33.700 church, which is kind of obvious even to most Catholics and Christians, but you will hear 01:04:33.700 --> 01:04:38.580 a lot even like people that go to church or churches, they'll say, oh, we're all the same. 01:04:38.580 --> 01:04:40.300 We worship the same God. 01:04:40.300 --> 01:04:43.780 No, that's not the case. 01:04:43.780 --> 01:04:48.740 The God that the Catholics worship and let alone any other religion is devil's. 01:04:48.740 --> 01:04:51.180 So we're not the same. 01:04:51.180 --> 01:04:58.180 And so even as new independent fundamental Baptist, well, actually, we as a new independent 01:04:58.180 --> 01:05:02.460 fundamental Baptist, we're not the same as other denominations. 01:05:02.460 --> 01:05:08.740 And that's an important distinction because that's an obvious statement to most honest 01:05:08.740 --> 01:05:10.460 people. 01:05:10.460 --> 01:05:12.820 Even those that say, oh, we're all the same. 01:05:12.820 --> 01:05:14.220 They're just trying to shut you up. 01:05:14.220 --> 01:05:17.940 I believe, I mean, I believe they're just being dishonest right then and there. 01:05:17.940 --> 01:05:20.140 They're not really, they don't really believe we're all the same. 01:05:20.140 --> 01:05:22.860 They're just trying to say, yeah, yeah, yeah, we're all Christians. 01:05:22.860 --> 01:05:24.500 Like, calm down, I'm always 01:11:11.380 --> 01:11:16.340 praying and I'm praying for things that I would want or desire in my life. 01:11:16.340 --> 01:11:21.180 But then found myself always caveatting my prayer saying like, Lord, if that's your 01:11:21.180 --> 01:11:22.180 will. 01:11:22.180 --> 01:11:26.020 And then just being kind of like, Lord, whatever your will is, just Lord, your will be done. 01:11:26.020 --> 01:11:28.900 Just your will, Lord, whatever your will is. 01:11:28.900 --> 01:11:33.020 And I kind of got the feeling I'm reading specifically through this year. 01:11:33.020 --> 01:11:34.700 I kind of switched up how I'm reading through the Bible. 01:11:34.700 --> 01:11:38.700 I'm doing it in a chronological order now, which it's the same content, obviously. 01:11:38.700 --> 01:11:41.940 But your brain kind of changes a little bit when you start looking at something different, 01:11:41.940 --> 01:11:48.020 when it's not just an everyday mindless emotion or mindless task that you go through. 01:11:48.020 --> 01:11:53.740 And I start seeing in the Bible, like all these people praying specific prayers. 01:11:53.740 --> 01:11:55.620 And here's why that's important. 01:11:55.620 --> 01:12:00.340 Obviously God is not going to answer a prayer for our life that is against his will. 01:12:00.340 --> 01:12:04.060 I am not saying that we are robots and that we're always going to be in God's perfect 01:12:04.060 --> 01:12:05.420 will for our life. 01:12:05.420 --> 01:12:10.300 But it's not like I'm going to pray for God to just answer something that's totally against 01:12:10.300 --> 01:12:13.340 his will and that he'll give that to me necessarily. 01:12:13.340 --> 01:12:17.100 And I'm not saying that you couldn't pray a miss and kind of just do wrong things with 01:12:17.100 --> 01:12:18.340 blessings that have been answered. 01:12:18.340 --> 01:12:21.260 But what do I mean about specific prayer? 01:12:21.260 --> 01:12:25.740 For me personally, I would find it hard to pray for things that I wanted because I would 01:12:25.740 --> 01:12:30.300 think I would have this part in myself that thinking like, well, is that covetous? 01:12:30.300 --> 01:12:33.740 And really, I kind of boil it down to just not hearing great preaching on covetousness 01:12:33.740 --> 01:12:34.740 since I got saved. 01:12:34.740 --> 01:12:37.260 Not that it's not out there, just that I didn't really expose myself to that. 01:12:37.260 --> 01:12:39.700 I should have looked that out and studied it more. 01:12:39.700 --> 01:12:43.820 But sometimes you hear like, oh, ask for like more. 01:13:01.940 --> 01:13:02.940 Like if God's already blessed me, I can't ask for more. 01:13:02.940 --> 01:13:03.940 That's covetous, right? 01:13:03.940 --> 01:13:04.940 Wrong. 01:13:04.940 --> 01:13:05.940 OK, this is not a sermon on covetousness, but I want to show you God ain't going to 01:13:05.940 --> 01:13:06.940 ask for more. 01:13:06.940 --> 01:13:07.940 I want to
